The matchmaking isn't designed for lobby shopping for some reason if they change it to prevent it then the game will be much more fair

    I totally agree

  • Those gross mismatches could be from there not being enough players at the needed MMR in your region, or much more likely from lobby shopping and the resultant backfilling happening.

i wish people who wanna complain about the game specify what their problems are with no bias and a good understanding of the game.

and not just come to the forums to rant like children.

like what are the devs supposed to do with this post you said nothing useful

huge hitboxes? there's no such thing i don't even think you know what hitbox means.

overpowered killer perks? like what? i really don't think killers have any overpowered/problematic perks left nor does Survivors (except mft)

camping is getting nerfed so what's the issue?.

This post came from a highly emotional state, so there's that.

But to your point, I find most reasonable debate and suggestions come from playing th game competently in both roles to better understand both sides & their issues. That to me is more useful and consistent than a fooook ton of hours, especially in only one role.

  • Yeah...... that's not even enough time for any killer to adjust their jock strap and really begin

Actually, everytime I wanna play DbD I also have to restart the console and then launch the game, because I could be wrong tho, but restarting the console helps in cleaning the cache, and at least for the, that've helped a lot

For me restarting often would help with forever & broken lobbies, frame rate, micro freezes, the works

Will the flashlight issue be fixed before the tome closes? Or will we just not be able to do this challenge?

Gunna have to use flashbangs and the like to try this.

To my knowledge, BHVR have not given an official stance on this. Although I'd imagine it's a "use at your own risk" scenario, the same with custom perk icons and macros.

In other words, I doubt the developers are going to go out of their way to ban people using it but if Easy Anti-Cheat detects something amiss and automatically bans you, the developers won't help you to get unbanned.

I have tried to do 3 iri emblems challenge. And it's almost impossible.

This emblem fight core gameplay. In order to get it you need to injure/down as much a possible, which makes sense but you lose some when surivors heal, which is dumb. Which leaves you with 3 options:

    1) Tunnel, so you can force trades and protection hits.

    2) Play with noobs.

    3) Play legion.

Plague and/or anti-heal builds can help.

For a long time I also felt like I was pretty alone as a Pig main but recently I found many Boop enjoyers. So I'm glad.

It should take the number of generators done into account.

If killer is trying to secure a kill when there are 3 gens done already and is struggling and going away pretty much means a loss of the match is not the same as doing a face-camp at 5 gens just because it can.

I agree there should be some kind of gradient there.

Camping at four or five gens left should be the intended target of any changes, not reasonable proxying with only one or no gens left to get that kill.

There's a huge difference between the two scenarios. Very much like they need to be careful with looking into everyone slugged. It matters when these things occur in a trial.

Whiffing is a constant problem I find on console, especially if survivors work out you're on console, they'll start heavy juking and trying to spin you constantly.

As we can't turn as easily as PC, a tip I find helps on any killer, is if someone spins you, the next time you get into attack range, quickly tip your aim up like you're baiting dead hard, and ease off your stick so you walk instead. If they start to spin, stop in place and as they run back into you, turn and hit.

They stop doing it pretty fast once you tag em a few times. GL brother! 😉

Sound advice for playing killer on console. Being spun is rough, but I learned long ago to stop or even take a step back to deal with it. In tight spaces I'll still get aim dressed into a rock or wall or tree or thin air though.

We could really really use more controller setting options.

  • @Caiman said:

The performance is a little better, still rough but better and not as difficult to play. It's a step in the right direction, I hope they don't neglect it in future patches again.

I'm convinced, however, that there must be a significant memory leak because I swear the performance gets worse the longer I play.

I would restart the game every three to four matches on my ol' venerable Xbox1 to clean things up. Just became habit.

They do that by bringing SoloQ up to swf

That woud mean that you are buffed when you play SoloQ. How are they doing that? I mean they are not nerfing SWF (that would mean bringing SWF down to soloQ) how is soloq players are beeing buffed that they make up for not knowing the other survivors and having no communication?

Adding the surv action icons to the hud was the biggest change they've done to help close the gap between solos and SWF, and it has had a decently large positive impact.

Clearly they intend to continue raising solos towards SWF level, without directly nurfing surv loadouts or perk choices. From what I can tell they insist that all players in either role be able to run what they like, without imposing any crazy tourney limitations on anyone.

  • @UndeddJester said:

It does massively help reduce queue dodging....so that's a win in of itself...

    This.

They're trying to deal with the massive lobby shopping problem that's borking up the matchmaking.

  • There's too many players of DBD located pretty far from the dedicated servers currently available. They certainly need to add three or four more globally, although that's a big cost to absorb.

I'm not sure why one role can see the ping but not the other. But if showing ping all around leads to even more lobby shopping we are dealing with one issue while drastically worsening another.

I mean if all killers hate to play against SWF, maybe its time to change something?

Not denying that, but this is not a good idea either.

It's mainly a problem in the higher MMR areas, but so is everything there. Most playing the killer role don't have the macro gameplay sense & chase judgement to hang with a coordinated team. Those that do should get the best teams all day every day, but they certainly won't enjoy that sweatfest for very long.

While map rng can absolutely be a strong determining factor, that is usually outside of a player's control. Being a smart all-around killer is not.

I just want to say that, before this patch the game was totally unplayable on Nintendo Switch. After this I can now play and feel the game run smoothly again, Thanks to whoever took the time to look into that. I haven't played on Ripley's/Xeno's map, which is the one that had lag issues on 7.2.0, but still It is nice to know that I can finally play the game "normally" (constant 30 fps) again.

I would highly recommend taking into consideration more that somehow, whenever a new update comes out, the game on Nintendo Switch breaks a lot of the time. Even tho, I just wanted to share my happy feelings on this one and hope It's not like... a "Placebo effect" and that in reality, nothing changed. So if you guys really twekeed the game so It can run better, amazing job so far <3

Because playing against SWF groups are way different as playing against randoms, the communication changes ,everything, playing stealthly basicly has no use since they know at all times where you are. There is no uncertainty anymore and even a survivor whos dead on hook wont heal when he knows that the killer is far away.

The difference between 4random players and 4 players (on the same skilllevl) but as a SWF group is massiv.

In normal groups, people play more on the safe site whats in my opinion a more fun way.

I mean i dont blame SWF groups, but i mean they can play against killers who have fun playing against them, for example if they want a different challenge. And how i said i want it "opt-out" so the standard is that killers are playing aginast SWF

If killers could opt out of facing SWF those survs would never get a match.

With something like half of all survs in at least a two-man group (threes and fours especially are far less common) this change would wreak queue times for everyone and destroy matchmaking.

    This cannot be the solution.

  • As far as I know requiring a game shutdown and restart needs to be done through a patch. I see no other way.

Yeah I did like twice today one bc ppl were refusing to leave the game and tbagging and I didnt want to waste my time, other time was bc of hackers, got hackers twice ina row, and if 5 mins is to much make it 2, and ppl already dc if they get a bad map. theres ppl that dc if they hear a nurse blink

just saying there needs to be a system in place that dosent punish you for leaving a game if there are hackers

They already cannot differentiate between connection issues and a manual DC right now, let alone when hacking is involved.

Maybe if they had a built-in match recording and/or triggers like "max speed possible is bla bla, cheats if more" kinda tracking, but apparently they'd have to recode the game from scratch to have those.

And as others have pointed out, if you got to 30 minutes that's too many DC's fam.

I don't know, this is what I've been wondering about. And even if they can killswitch items, does this also remove them from the pool of items that can appear from chests? Residual Manifest would have to be disabled too since that perk guarantees a flashlight.

    I'm guessing they cannot.

  • Can they even killswitch items?

i dont understand whats the problem with it... Why i shouldnt be able to choose if i go against a p100 lobby? of course they dont play different with another character, but i simply want the freedom to say i dont want to play against a 100 lobby... especially with the matchmaking

Because each and every dodge worsens the matchmaking.

Their system only has one real shot at a fair-ish match. As people are dodged and backfilling occurs, the looser it gets as players wait, until it just grabs the next available player regardless of their MMR.

I can’t say for certain if we are high mmr or not, but we are a SWF of vet players and our escape rate is pretty high, so I’m just assuming. But I’d assume lobby dodging a p100 survivor would occur much more frequently with killers who aren’t as good.

But I understand your point. That’s valid. I hope at the very least they make it an optional setting.

Yes optional would be ideal should it happen.

  • @HugTechLover said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3537133#Comment_3537133

To be honest, I really don’t get dodged much playing survivor, and I run with multiple p100’s in a SWF. I think it’s a difference in MMR. People getting dodged a ton are probably sitting in a lower MMR. I really do not see it often.

If you are in that high MMR area, then you're in the minority of the overall playerbase. The devs have pretty much always looked at the player experience of the largest portion first, then the newbies, and then after that maybe y'all. Maybe.

So if veteran players like you (and to a lesser extent me) can think of the overall group like they do, some of these tests & changes begin to make more sense.

  • How about if a killer has 1327 Badham or Haddenfield offerings or whatever map they dislike, they can merge 100 of them together into "Grants a 100% chance not to go to said map." Make it the same for survs.

  • @HugTechLover said:

It should be an option. I hate the test. I much rather prefer to see prestige and mine to be shown. I didn’t grind p100 to just hide it. Hell, show my killer prestige too.

Also, think it’s extremely stupid it’s hidden for SWF too.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3536283#Comment_3536283

It does not prevent lobby dodging. Killers and survivors will dodge for many more things other than prestige.

While this is certainly true, think about it this way:

They have a list of reasons why players dodge lobbies, thereby messing up the matchmaking. You go one by one and see what can be done about it realistically, test things out, & try to remove reasons to dodge or shop around.

I am aware but I just want to see actual numbers once in my lifetime

Something like a forth or fifth of all players are on Steam and Epic and Windows together. Rest is console. If you can get those numbers together you can extrapolate.

Best I can do for ya. 🤪😃

  • @ShinobuSK said:

Can we get stats of how many people ay on each platform? All we can see for years is Steam only and nothing else.

No need to show numbers but at leats percentages

They obviously know those numbers, but the privacy agreements with the consoles (UEA and the like) means they cannot release exact figures.

For PC those on Steam outnumber Windows and Epic, however altogether the consoles vastly are the largest playerbase. The PlayStations make up the bulk of that.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3535585#Comment_3535585

Isn't pc players the bigges playerbase? Dtill some console players would keep playing on pc servers so yeah queque times would be probably bit longer but matched would be more balanced. Only fair way I can see console players remaining in same platform as pc is to give console players some assist.

Better aim assist on killer similar to fornite which actually helps. Adding mouse and keyboard support as well. Then also adding 120 fps on new gen consoles and removing unfair pc killer techs which are not possible on console.

Altogether the consoles greatly outnumbered those on PC yeah. The exact numbers cannot be known (console privacy stuff) but worldwide it's not really close.

The only fix I can think of is just adding different modes to the game so people can sort of better tailor their experience to what they are looking for.

Like there are a ton of players who only want to play against very strong opponents and in optimal ways.

There should be a mode for them to sort of gather in and just have at it. I'm just really used to setting my build up based on what I see survivors bringing into the game and I'm also a very vibes based player who backs out if it doesn't feel right or if there is more than one toolbox.

I would say switch to drop-in/drop-out matchmaking so games could go back to starting with fewer players like in the old days, but now with the benefit that someone can be thrown into a match in progress to take the place of a bot. It wouldn't really help much for lobbyshopping by the killer, but it would sort of solve backfill once you had a killer.

Interesting take you have on the lobbies you see.

I just wish dodging wasn't so dang destructive to the matchmaking. Their system has only one shot at a fair-ish match, just one. With the community's stated preference for queue times over quality trials the dodging poops on it all. And the longer anyone waits the looser it gets.

There must be a better way.

  • @ReikoMori said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3535571#Comment_3535571

    Yeah.

I value the ability to see what I'm potentially dealing with so I can either prepare effectively or back out.

Once I have no idea what I'm dealing with after years of having access to that knowledge then I see no reason to stay.

Wow. Since I'm on Xbox we have almost nothing to see as for other players' info. In most of my trials everyone has that globe next to them. So losing the lobby altogether would have a smaller impact on me, and most likely many other consolers as well.

My issue with lobby shopping is the awful backfills that are created whenever any player yeets on out, in either role, but it seems to be a much bigger problem with killers leaving.

So long as backfills work as they currently do, not having lobbies at all and/or not providing player info I feel should be tested.

Do you have a another suggestion that they could try with their current backfilling system to reduce lobby dodging and allow their matchmaking to do it's thing? Because I don't.

  • @Deathstroke said:

I think consoles should be on their own platform in every game at base in dbd too. Pc just has too great advantage in all games. But it should be option to play with pc if console player wants but then he would get matched just with other pc players.

I also wish for a console-only CrossPlay option for DBD, but the harm to queue times would be so bad for PC, and not really good for everyone overall.

Although I'd like to see it tested, since the consoles are the vast majority of the playerbase it would leave Steam and Epic and Windows in such a small pool that matchmaking would be probably pointless.

  • @ReikoMori said:

Doubtful and if they did I'd just leave the game entirely

You'd quit the game if there were no lobbies to see?

I’ve tried everything I can think of to try and fix it, even uninstalling and reinstalling the game, but with no luck. I play on Xbox and I really want to play the new chapter, but I can’t and it sucks. Please help me fix this

When I run into this issue on my Xbox, and restarting the game & console doesn't fix it and uninstalling & reinstalling doesn't fix it, then completely restarting the Internet connection is really the only thing left to try.

If none of that works, I'd open up a support ticket and see what they say. I'm hoping your particular problem does not lie within your console.

I have not seen much harm. Killers dodge for any reason watching players hours or items or skins. Then just all should be hidden. Killers should not see survivors at all until match start...

I personally have not seen prestiges having that much effect on dodging anyway. So for me positives beat negative. I want to show my character prestige level to everyone. It kinda takes away from prestiging when you can't show it.

I'd like to see them test no lobbies at all, just match by MMR and start the trial. That would also eliminate that last second swapping bs survs can do.

  • @Nos37 said:

Making it optional would also let players test how often they get tunneled showing VS not showing, to see for themselves

That's a really good point. In addition to the lobby shopping issues, individual players will be surprised to see how often they are targeted.

Showing it after the trial is fine, and so is making it optional.

Tired of toxic bully squad SWFs. If they want to torture killers, then at least let the Killer consent to it first.

How many "bully" squads can anyone actually be facing? Around half of all survs are in a SWF but the vast majority are two mans, with threes and especially fours a very small percentage indeed.

If someone is in that fabled "very high MMR" they'd maybe get a stupidly skilled four-man more regularly, but everything is busted in that area and everyone knows this.

New gameplay formats to choose from. Some random ideas might be:

6 players vs 2 killers with 7 gens?

A timed match with less gens to complete?

A gameplay match where the players may only use that character's vanilla perks?

What about a gameplay lobby that randomly chooses your character, and available perks, but not items or add-ons? A sort of Russian Roulette lobby, with a great reward like +%50 bloodshards if you win?

Russian Roulette could even be a lobby where everyone has every character unlocked, (even if they didn't purchase it) and every perk is level 3, so they occasionally have a random shot at playing someone they never have before, or a perk they've never tried, in a public match?

    --------------------------------------------------------------

What about messing with the ability and items so they're not uniform with a few characters. Some random ideas might be:

Having a survivor with some built-in "abilities" that make them really compelling to play, but no way to choose any other perks as a drawback.

Having a survivor who's able to carry more than one item, or more than one add-on for an item, who has limited perks; like say two items but only two perks can be equipped. Or another survivor who can't ever have items, nor pick up any, and can't search chests, but has four perks to choose from?

What about having a killer who can only select two perks, but changes into another killer each time a survivor is killed? A morph killer, like a Chest Monster or Mimic who becomes different killers in your collection throughout the match? That would be really difficult to navigate for the survivors, and they'd be forced to adapt on the go.

Maybe a killer who can choose four perks to use, but has no add-ons? (Obviously this would take some workarounds for the bloodweb, such as random add-ons for every other killer appear on the web, and unlock for that respective killer, instead of the one who can never use add-ons.) The reverse would be interesting as well: a killer who can use four or add-ons, but have less than 3 perks to choose for their build.

For the multiple killers in a trial, imagine going against both chainsaw bros? Or a Blight and a Nurse? Or a Skully and a Knight?

The worst offender would be two killers both playing as Nemesis. While developing Nemesis they tried out an iri add-on that spawned in a third Zombie. It tanked game performance so badly they scrapped the idea and changed the add-on.

Since they likely develop using badass PC's and they couldn't make it run reasonably, imagine that on the consoles. Prolly straight up melt a Switch.

As a killer, I get frustrated watching other Killers excessively camp and tunnel, if you're 3 gens down and have 1 hook then its understandable, but doing so at 5 gens is just lame... however it is part of the game... but what survivors need is an potent threat/deterrent against it.

Most discussions I've seen agree survivors need the 5 second stun from Decisive Strike back.

DS has been given a hefty list of requirements now, and as such it can ONLY be used vs. Tunnelling, and is in a very healthy spot... but the 3s isn't really enough to be considered a strong deterrent... bringing back up its strength would certainly not be a bad move for the game.

This change would be fair and healthier.
