30 seconds match that ends in a 4k. Yet the server doesn't notice anything wrong. Even just picking up and hooking 4 survivors is barely possible in that time.

Why do we not have an auto-ban or flag system for these things? There is literally no way that this would be possible. Even if all the survivors and the killer had spawned in the basement and they tried to end the match as fast as possible it would take longer than this. Even with 4 No Mithers and STBFL it wouldn't work!

I was thinking just this a bit later on too, how crap is an anti-cheat that doesn't register a killer crossing the map instantly while holding a survivor and the match ending in literally 30 seconds as suspicious lol?

I should not be surprised though, as I used to be a Rust enjoyer but that game is absolutely infested with cheaters and EAC also seems useless there too.

I must be playing Nurse wrong all this time! 😂

Never had a Nurse do this to me, just two different Myers and a Billy over the years.

As for what the servers see, I'm pretty sure they don't have any sanity checks for DBD, looking for impossibilities in the trials. All that would need to be on the server side, but currently it's all on our side, which i believe the fancy term for is on "client side".

Fomo, I guess. All these people saying a killer is strong, but when you play them they're weak, because of your choice of platform, not because of your own skill. In a way, yeah, it'll be fun when nobody can do it. That way, a killer will take actual skill, and not be nerfed over and over due to their power on PC. Or give consoles better sensitivity, yeah. It's silly they haven't just done that.

A few years back they doubled the sensitivity using a controller, and then stated that's the limit for DBD. Hence the continued requests for M&K support.

  • @MaddieMage said:

you’re only seeing more P100s because people are actually playing their favorite characters now without fear of being dodged, tunneled or targeted since they removed lobby prestige’s. I don’t think there’s an influx of new P100s. People are just more willing to play them now.

This is the most likely explanation.

  • @NarkoTri1er said:

this is not about PC vs. console, this is about mouse + keyboard vs. controller. So maybe instead of complaining about a tech that raises skill ceiling of the killer, you should be complaining about dbd not javing keyboard + mouse support on console :D

Been asked for many many times over the years, and every time the answer is sadly they have no plans to.

    VERSUS

(Something Cool Exists But Only For PC) ⇒ "This should be added as a feature and should be made possible on all platforms because it is cool."

(It goes without saying, I obviously support adding this as a feature, not everything is "le bad" and needs to be removed since it makes the game stale and removes fun aspects from the game.)

    I like this as well.

The problem arises when cool or useful things cannot be ever done with a controller in DBD. Then we run into the issue of fairness not only to console but to our PC cousins possibly losing the thing because of those forced to use controllers. The PC players have done nothing wrong in these instances themselves.

  • My issues playing Singularity can neatly be summed up this way: 🎮

When he first came out and for a long time it was just so unresponsive and clunky, aiming was poop, and it didn't help that every twig or leaf would block a pod (that one still happens). After his last changes I wouldn't say it got better, just less bad imo.

That would be cool too! Use search command - if snug detects a body on the ground a prompt comes up briefly to give you the option to drag body, if you decide not to then he just keeps going to whatever destination you set him at.

I can see the doggo dragging one surv on the ground behind the Houndmaster with another surv on their shoulder! Congo line down into the basement!

    Very efficient! 😁👍

  • I haven't gone against a killer running Insidious since 2020, not even a random Bubba adept. That last time was strangely with a Ghostface on an old dark corn map, Rancid I think.

Shoulder the burden, the new perk that enables survivors to trade hookstages.

I'm wondering if it'll be easier and less confusing if we just call it Burden for short. When I see STB I think of STBFL instantly.

  • @HolyDarky said:

With the new patch, there are two new achivements for survivors: "Escape five trials while you're broken" and "unhook survivors ten times while you're broken". In my 20 matches today I had seven No Mither players and this is just miserable for SoloQ. No Mither is one of the worst perks in the game because you become completly useless for your team since you have one health state in chase, you cannot go for unhooks, you cannot take hits, you have to play really careful, which often means - at least in SoloQ - hiding and do very little but if you get found, give up and go next. Of cause, there are other perks that makes you broken (e.g. Moment of Glory, both Invocations, and Deliverance) but many players will use No Mither because it "easier" with this perk than with the others and it is also a free basegame character.

This archivment is a huge mistake and will make SoloQ even more miserable than it already is. So please, change this achivement to something else like escape five times while you're injured.

Changing the Achievements and Trophies is not an easy ask. Unless they become unattainable we're pretty much stuck with them once released.

I've been playing the game since 2018 and I've now given up hope that usable cheat protection / server validation will actually come into play.

There were cheaters back then, but not as regularly. It also seems that the number of cheaters who show it blatantly is lower these days than those who do it subtly, as people get away with it without consequences.

And seriously speaking, it's quite a disgrace if, after so many years, there is still no serious cheat protection / server validation and it is still a low priority. If something is wrong with the in-game job, you can bet it will be fixed within a few hours. I couldn't deliver such quality to my customer otherwise I wouldn't have the job for 2 weeks. Unfortunately a fact.

The locker didn't save me from one of these bots, it just teleported to my locker and the locker instantly puked me out onto the ground dying. I was then picked up and teleported to the basement for hooking.

I noticed most of the old “fun” perks like dh, resilience, object of obsession, circle of healing were all nerfed because it was overpowered and there were 4x survivors

I noticed alternatively these perks drastically increase the chance to be obsession, so I think itd be nice to introduce OP perks that only work being the obsession so we can keep the perks fun and overpowered while not having a whole lobby with dh, resilience ds and more.

So my solution is to revert these perks to their former glory and limiting the effect to only work for the obsession, there are perks for surviviors to increase their chances to be obsession and there are perks for killer to help hunt and change obsession to, so it would be a nice tug of war for the whole playerbase

the only issue would be that it would be possible that survivors waste a slot or two if you end up not being the obsession, but in which case itd encourage survivors to use other perks, or obsession changing perks, and it also encourages killers to use perks that center around killing and switching the obsession

Seemed like a good change of meta to me, and a win to both sides

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/0WI604A8JP38/img-4332.gif

There's a couple of killer perks and add-ons that can shift who's the Obsession is So all a killer would have to do is make any other surv the Obsession and the prior one's load out now becomes useless.

    generally less sweaty in mindset

so why should we worry about platform where people are unlikely to use something like this anyway?

Oni is simply one of killers, where console players are always going to be worse at. Nothing new in DBD and there will definetly be more killers like this.
For example I don't think Houndmaster is going to be console friendly unless they are going to add for direction swap same thing as Singularity has (so it auto aims for survivor when you switch). That simply something hard to do for console (camera flicks)

It doesn't make sense to design killers most of the community cannot ever use anywhere near their full potential, because of a mechanical issue and not a skill issue.

I'm not asking to dumb down any killer or their skill expression. All I'm saying is it should not matter as much as it does for DBD which platform you happen to buy the game on. That disparity is super exaggerated when it comes to running all killers in general, and glaring for the ones you've mentioned.

The devs should want their hard work in designing and tinkering their killers accessable to all of their players. If that means adding M&K support, fine. It that means messing around with the controller sensitivities again and/or more robust setting options for them, fine.

But often they seem to take the route of changing the killers' kit to limit or outright remove these fun little things our PC cousins are so good at finding. Despite it obviously being the easiest and most resource efficient way of doing it I don't agree with that approach, and I can tell you don't either.

So we circle back to the overall problem. How do most of the players run Oni in an engaging and potent way to bring down very good survs? The devs should not accept the answer "you can't" because of your platform. The community certainly ain't accepting that answer, as this post is clearly showing.

On a side note, your forum name is most excellent! 👌 😊

  • @PetTheDoggo said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3845069#Comment_3845069

Most of the playerbase is on the consoles, and the answer should never ever be "just get a PC" either.

where did you get that information? It really doesn't seem one sided to me and you also can't tell who is console and who is from epic.

Until they support M&K for the consoles these kinds of discussions will keep happening.

as I have said above. There are several killers, where console is worse playing than PC by default. Anything with high precision, or camera movement in general.
Even if you increase Oni's sensitivity by whatever means (devs updated engine, so might be possible now), most console players won't be able to manage it anyway.

You mean the breakdown of the players by platform? We cannot ever know exactly numbers due to the various UEA's and such.

As a rough guide though, for DBD there's more players on the various PlayStations than on Steam for instance, say around 25% of the overall total and about 22% for Steam. Something like that. Next would be those on one of the Xbox machines and then those on Switch. Epic Store isn't too large, neither is Steamdeck, and Stadia never had that many players either before dying out.

The game is out on like 8 different platforms not counting mobile. Any sizable game that is CrossPlay is always mostly console. It just doesn't seem that way sometimes as they're less vocal here and elsewhere, generally less sweaty in mindset, and most of the content creators are on PC. All of the Fog Whisperers are on Steam as well, as is the PTB.

Didn't they increase it with Billy rework? I am not console player, so just what I have heard.

A strong (and fun) thing can be done with one input device but not the other. This directly controls how effective Oni can be. How do we reconcile this?

Because of platform has limitations, we make it less fun for everyone else?
I don't really see a reason to nerf a killer, because of platform handicap. That player chose that platform, their issue…

There is a crossplay now, so they can always upgrade.

Most of the playerbase is on the consoles, and the answer should never ever be "just get a PC" either.

Until they support M&K for the consoles these kinds of discussions will keep happening. And they've said repeatedly they have no plans to add that support.

  • @PetTheDoggo said:

    Hopefully never…

Unless you mean let console flick too, I am fine with that.

Cannot be done with a controller for this game. Many years back they doubled the sensitivity for them and stated that's the highest it can go for DBD. Combine that with the input delay and dead zones with the joysticks, and no flicks for you. Add in they have no plans to add M&K support for the consoles, and we're very much stuck here.

A strong (and fun) thing can be done with one input device but not the other. This directly controls how effective Oni can be. How do we reconcile this?

Ever since she released, anyone who dared play her has suffered from harassment both in and out of the game from people who not only didn't understand her kit but didn't want to.

The most recent changes made to her do nothing but give the impression that the devs side with serial harassers and bullies.

The hate now for Skull Merchant is no longer reasonable, but it's still there. The community has pretty much rejected this killer no matter the changes. It'll take more time to subside, if that's even still possible.

  • Slugging can absolutely be the correct thing to do, it all depends on the situation and the killer being run, and sometimes even the map.

An Oni in power is likely to down a surv and go after another one nearby, same for Myers in tier 3. Despite changes Twins is excellent at slugging too. Or a surv might go down under at pallet and the killer knows there's another one around. I do as Pig when in my rounds I find a surv searching a Jigsaw box, mainly because I know it'll stop the timer and give them a chance. In none of these situations does the extra 10 seconds on hook matter.

I think the slugging most complain about is everyone down and only one or no gens even done yet. If they all are left to bleed out yes that's unhealthy, despite those survs most likely screwing up badly to even get into that in the first place. It's still a decision to bleed them all out, and definitely feels so bad when it happens. Last two survs and one is slugged has more to do with how the hatch works. And again those 10 seconds do not come into play there either.

  • @TheWheelOfCheese said:

    Something something hockey something something.

I laughed wayyyyyyy too hard at this one!

    Ty! 😂🤣

  • Funny how the hatch mechanic leads to all of this. I do like the notion of a slug recovering fully then taking chances to get up into injured status. Something like the 4% unhook odds seems appropriate, and each failure to get up quickens the bleed out.

We can play around with the particular numbers, have it only activate when just two survs are left maybe. Worth testing out imo.

  • @d3cay said:

Nancy and Steve are both unavailable for purchase?? Why’s that

What platform's store are you looking at?

  • @GeneralV said:

Map offerings aren't the problem, the map themselves are.

No killer wants to see The Game, no survivor wants Haddonfield or one of the Coldwind deadzones. If the maps were better balanced, something like the good old patch 3.7.0, we wouldn't have this issue.

This is correct it's not the offerings. It is the maps that need the work. Map offerings should only be for preference and not to convey any strong advantages for either role.

There still are a few killer builds that are absolutely map dependant, but that speaks more to certain add-ons needing changes.

I too have have run into this problem on Xbox, sorta rare but happens. Someone disconnecting or being moried can trigger it.

Sometimes each of us restarting the game fixes it, sometimes we have to restart our routers as well. This issue has been around since 2018 for me.

  • @BugReporterOnly said:

No console players get PTB. The beta test isn't the same thing. The only way I think they could do it is if it is a seperate free download for console players who have the game but not sure they can do it.

Games like Minecraft and DayZ have an experimental game on Xbox available, so it's doable.

DBD's current way of doing their PBT can't work for the consoles because it's a separate download each time. That means it needs to be certified separately by Microsoft and Sony and Nintendo, which can take several days to a week, and is not free either.

    More thoughts and ideas.

Wouldn't comms mess with this idea?

  • Nurse is the strongest killers available, and is always ranked that way, because of what she can do. It's her potential lethality that gets her that high up.

She has an overall terrible killrate because players know she's the best and try her, but quickly find out you have to put in a decent amount of time to understand her. Imo 50 hours to just no longer suck, and several hundred to git gud. And much much longer if you try with a controller and do not have steady framerates. Few players are willing to put in the required effort to master her. Those that do rightfully should be feared & respected.

And she's always been quite buggy over the years, at times heavily and others not so bad. But she's also had her kit messed with a few times and her add-ons changed on several occasions.

I’ve played a couple Roblox games that run smoothly on my PS5 and PC yet are laggy on mobile. There is one in particular called Dress to Impress that has gained a larger following in the last 7 months and which everyone complains about having excessive lag with on their phones when playing.

The devs of that game are teenagers and relatively vacant from mature levels of interaction and professional engagement due to their being new in the scene; So, answers aren’t easily attained.

Another reason I’m asking on here is because this community not only has next-level wizards that understand all things tech, but also a more mature group of players older than pre-teens who can answer soundly.

Anyway, I’m wondering how such a larger scale game like DBD is capable of functioning on mobile so well sans the lag issues. Is it due to better servers? Would you think that Roblox game I mentioned lags from poor servers? Too much simultaneous playerbase traffic? Something internal, like too much memory programmed into the game itself? Think it’s their phone/ tablet tech that needs to be upgraded?

Just curious how so many mobile players of DTI complain about lag on their phones, when most all on PC or console have no issues whatsoever. Since DBD can operate as well as it does (and it’s got to be overall bigger than a Roblox game) how can it be so smooth and lag free while such a smaller game causes so many lag issues?

Bhvr developed the PC version of DBD and it's ports to the consoles, however the mobile version was developed by an entirely separate team. They recoded the game from scratch, something I wish desperately would be done to the main game, and this allowed them to clean up so many aspects of the code and a thorough optimization too.

The guts of the main game are the original 2016 coding, which has been built upon ever since, and was Blueprints with C++ added on later. That's the massive difference between the versions.

The issue with such a limitation is players in South America and in Asia are already very far from the nearest servers. Plus those in Australia are for some reason being placed in different servers constantly, something they cannot control either.

  • Yes bring back the night time farms!

  • @Slan said:

Past gamemodes were kinda fun, not gonna lie.

However, the new 2v8 has some mechanics that can be abused by survivors.

First of all, the gen progress bonification for each hook phase encourages gen rushing and ending games too fast for everyone to enjoy. Applying pressure and preventing repairs is more difficult than ever.

The huge amount of pallets in the map was already enough to give a fun element to chases. But allowing the rebuilding of pallets was too much. Now survivors have this endless supply of tools and killers cannot have "safe zones" in which they don't have to worry about pallets. Infinite pallets are unbalanced basically.

The cage teleporting being gone encourages tunnelling and camping as well. A killer just needs to stay around a cage to secure a kill while his mate is out there applying pressure.

This could have been solved if a 2v8 PTB was released before the actual gamemode came out. Sometimes a test is needed when you apply changes to see if things work as intended. And it is true that the intention was good this time, but the results clearly didn't match that spirit.

How could they accomplish this? The PTB is only for those who play on Steam, and we are seeing again how splitting the playerbase crushes queue times. Imagine those wait times with a fraction of a fraction of players able to participate.

The mode is for those whom have never experienced DbD 1.0 or for those whom want to re-live it.

Y'all welcome to hand out your opinion but I ask to keep it civil. You're also welcome to tell us some funny/good/bad moments from 2016's DbD release if ya like!

There was a time that you could loop around the Cow Tree on Coldwinds or many long fences on Haddonfield that were actual infinites back in the day. You could also permanently break hooks and also self-heal during a pallet stun. I too would like to play again on the classic maps but a couple of things were eliminated for good reason.

  • Each and every time they have to for whatever reason turn off the DC penalties evil things happen. Every time.

Players proceed to leave immediately for the slightest inconvenience. It could be an unfavorable map, a killer they don't like, a too-long first chase, being found first, a perk they dislike versing, etc. The bots are too iffy, and certainly cannot replace a competent surv. Prolly never will.

Then the trials get quickly out of hand. Nope those penalties should stay.

  • Imma speculate the new Ormond map was closer to ready than the possible new Swamp one was and/or had something moderate that needed fixing up first.

I have... it's pretty dire xD

But with a mouse... is it even a challenge at all? I'm less convinced.

Hmmmmmmmm now I'm curious how he feels on a Switch. 🤔

Once you understand how to face the tile correctly to turn 180 degrees on his dash, he is not hard at all on mouse. He vaguely has to be in the same zip code as the survivor and it's a hit.

This supposed skillshot doesn't really appear to take much skill, and even if you somehow miss, the survivir had to bank so hard to even try and juke, you can usually still get an m1, and if not, it's back in 8 more seconds, so who cares? Just go again.

Have you tried running him with a controller?

  • My beloved Piggly Wiggly wishes to open a high risk locksmith shoppe.

If that doesn't work out there's always dental school. Isuppose she could go back and finish that one day.

  • I was tickled petting the precious doggo was a thing in the first Dragon Age game, and that was back in like 2009. I'd like to see any escaping survs also petting him in the way out! 🐕
