The houndmasters hound has insane sensitivity and zero aim assist. Fine on PC, terrible on console. Since you don't have keyboard mouse support for some reason please for the love of God give her this much needed QOL update.

They said they're adding in M&K support for the consoles sometime later this year.

…yes? If he wants to waste a large amount of resources to keep one person in the basement, the rest of the team could be off doing generators unimpeded.

I think they're trying to nullify the Basement Trapper playstyle, or at least minimize it harshly. While I don't think this is the best way to attempt to curb that style, I also don't think a surv should feel completely doomed if they are dragged into a basement by either a Hag or a Trapper.

I do like their ideas in their Add-ons section though they're worth testing out.

It was implemented about a year ago. I've never personally hit the limit, haven't even come close. If this is an ongoing problem then you might need to reassess your gameplay and strategies.

I've gotten close maybe twice, with Surge and Pop together on Gideon. The multiple floors are likely why. I think I was doing some weird Doc challenge or something. I usually just run chase & info stuff mostly.

There isn't an option to quit on the loading screen? If a player is willing to close the game because of no mither then they'd probably just quit when they get in the game anyway so it doesn't really matter.

They'd dashboard their console (or whatever the PC equivalent is) to leave the trial while loading in, avoiding the DC penalties as they currently are.

  • @Fantasy said:

It would give you enough time to read what you have and take a moment to think before you're dropped in. Showing it in the lobby would lead to dodges so I think the loading screen would be best.

How would we prevent a player from seeing they got No Mither and yeeting on the loading screen then? I realize No Mither desperately needs work, but still.

Some people, inevitably, won't like the changes (for a variety of possible reasons). It sucks when you're on that side of the equation, but everyone ends up there sooner or later.

Wish I could leave this side of the equation and return to a point where I actually like and agree with the direction the game is heading. Haven't been there since 2019, and it gets exhausting after a while.

It's normally expected you'll be playing against cheats running reshade or discord in DBD but seems hackers are back in DBD, first time I've seen them melt through floors though.

Can anyone explain to me if we are using DBD servers how can they not detect people taking routes not used by 99% of others? That would be self learning and even BHVR wouldn't have to rely on reports.

I wasn't aware they've declared Discord as cheating when did that happen?

Reshade and filters in general are another beast entirely, but again aren't they whitelisted by the devs?

The servers they use sadly don't do "sanity checks" looking for impossiblilities like insane movement speeds and such.

True, but all killers should be okay-ish with a controller as well, and many are not.

  • They could have a limited time event called Legacy Mode or sumsuch.

It would be a stable patch from a rotating week in 2018-20 somewheres to showcase the game at that time, for us vets to enjoy or newbies to see what we had to go through.

    Hey everyone,

Let’s talk about something simple, but important: the end-game chat in Dead by Daylight.

We’ve all been there. You got tunneled. You got camped. Your teammates left you to die. Or maybe, you were the killer, and someone teabagged at the gate like they invented disrespect. And when that match ends… that chat box is sitting there, waiting. Begging you to type something petty.

But here’s the thing: you don’t have to.

Typing “ez,” “bot killer,” “ez tunnel trash,” or “enjoy your 0 skill 4K” might give you a quick second of satisfaction — but it doesn’t help. It just spreads more negativity into a community that already gets enough hate. It doesn’t change the outcome. It doesn’t make you feel better long-term. It doesn’t make anyone grow or improve.

What actually helps? Saying “gg,” taking a deep breath, and just going next.

Seriously — not every match is going to feel fair. Sometimes you win, sometimes you get steamrolled. Sometimes people make mistakes. But if every loss turns into a lecture or a salt-fest, it just burns everyone out — including you, so do us a favor and just press leave button to go next match.

Thanks for acknowledging this, have great day!

Just join us on Console, no chat box to worry about at all! 😎

Y'all don't really need those 60 frames or filters anyway.

  • Old BBQ was great for wanting to spread hooks. Me and many killers would go out of our way to get those stacks back then.

  • Yeah most of our PC cousins won't wait around fourteen minutes for me to painfully type out a single sentence.

I think having another couple of chats to have to police is the strongest factor though.

  • I miss the chaos and wildness of DBD from like 2021 and before the most. Imo we've efficiented out most of the fun.

I miss the old night time Coldwind for sure. I'd love to see maps with dynamic times of day, that change as the trials last longer and transition night to day and such.

  • I'd start No Mither as healthy and then forever Broken once you're injured. And then at that point it shows as Broken in the UI as well, instead of broadcasting to everyone at the beginning of the trial you have it, especially the killer. The other bonuses it currently has can remain.

We could test out messing around with full silence on it. As for an old version of Dead Hard coupled with it, I just don't see many supporting that idea in the community.

Something has to be done with it, or anyone running it for Adept or a challenge or whatever will be dodged into another dimension once surv perks are visible in the lobby.

If the killer knows you’re in a specific locker with head-on, they can just go completely to the side of the locker, mash the space bar, and strafe towards the locker. The survivor won’t be able to react to that with a head-on.

Also, if a killer knows you’re in a specific locker with head-on, do you think head-on should force the killer to wait a long time for crows to appear, and have zero counter play besides that?

    Doesn't work with a controller

There are currently 39 killers in Dead by Daylight, each with their own ability.

People who enter the game for the first time receive only a small part of the knowledge they need to win.

They don't know how to stand up to this or that killer, they don't know what he's capable of and what can be expected from his abilities.

All they have is hints before the match starts.

Given that a huge number of people in this game prefer the side of the survivors, I think it makes sense to add more detailed training, which will include more information about the killers, the specifics of teamwork and tactics.

People with 1000+ hours don't understand how killer abilities work and therefore constantly lose.

I believe that if the survivors of this game knew how to play better and understood how to act in certain situations, no anti-camp and anti-tunneling would be required.

In addition, it would be worthwhile to give the survivors of Dead by Daylight the opportunity to exchange at least some information using text commands, as is done in the Identity V. For example, to decide which of the survivors will go to save an ally.

I would like to note that survivors with voice communication, who understand all the mechanics of the game and understand which of their skills are destroyed by the mechanics of camping and tunneling (Decisive Strike, Off The Record, Babysitter etc.), are in a much better position than casual players who have virtually no communication.

By embedding new mechanics for the survivors that limit the killers in their capabilities, the developers first of all make the survivors stronger, who already know how to win.

Players who do not understand how to build builds, who do not have the opportunity to communicate and do not have information on how to counter the abilities of the killers, these built-in mechanics will not help if a strong player is playing for the killer.

YouTubers are constantly creating guides on how to run assassins in DBD, how the assassins' abilities work, and which builds give them a huge advantage.

Unfortunately, Dead by Daylight itself does not motivate players to learn how to play and does not give them almost any information necessary for learning.

I really hope that the developers will pay attention to this problem, because it is precisely because of it that the killers began to be restricted in their actions.

I feel DBD is far too reliant on expecting new players to YouTube the game and much more should be within it for tutorials, be it what you suggest or other ideas.

Every time a zombie is blocking me off, or harassing me off the last 10% of a central gen, forcing me to throw shack pallet so I can complete the gen, interrupting a heal after an unhook, or ratting me out to Nemmy when I'm on death hook... I'm always shouting "GOD DAMN IT SHARON!"

I almost never see Bruce... man's busy playing with Pigeons or something... but Sharon... damn... she's ######### everywhere 💀💀💀💀

to hell with console players, I can do a 360 moving my mouse 5 inches, but with Oni's power, I'm literally flicking past them moving my mouse millimeters. How do you destroy a good killer by unlocking his turn rate just so little Jimmy can do a 360 holding his joystick to the left for 10 seconds. You already gave them Ghoul, they don't need Oni, revert his awful turn rate

You do know the vast majority of the playerbase is on the consoles? Who have played this game with a controller since 2017?

How killers perform with a controller should have been kept in mind whenever a power was developed, far more than it has up to this point, knowing it's how most players play the game.

Don't wish to take anything away from those using a mouse, but the preference of platform and input device shouldn't be as outrageously different as it is in DBD. Comments like "to hell with console players" do nothing but feed us vs. them nonsense and come off sounding like gatekeeping too.

  • @NotAnotherDoctor said:

Sorry I fast replied to that,

What I mean to say is, if that's the case, they should just have anon mode inside their own game be its own thing

I agree, but for Xbox players must always be able to see who they last played with, through a game or not. Kinda defeats the purpose of Anonymous Mode.

  • @NotAnotherDoctor said:

We all know Five Night At Freddy's is gonna bring in an insane amount of new players, hence all these changes.

What you really need to do in preparation for these players coming is REMOVE end game chat and give anonymous mode to everyone. I don't know why you leave Xbox out I took a 4 month break from dbd, I came back and had just one match and I was met with abuse right away and turned the game back off

You know you have a hostile community, this will be the reason so many of these new players won't stick around and it's why you need put some focus on this, too

Xbox players cannot use their Anonymous Mode because the way it was they implemented it violated several Microsoft guidelines. Something about not being allowed to prevent clicking on profiles and seeing Gamertags I believe.

When they first rolled out Anonymous Mode to the consoles Xbox did have it for like two weeks, then it was removed and they stated it won't be back.

Do you remember that early tournament, where the Nurse player lag switched the survivors, and proceeded to 4K, and still got awarded the win by the tournament organisers? Those were the good old days.

I do several creators put out vids commenting on it back then. The quality of the clips was poor from what I recall. Wild thing to see.

  • @Gh0st2317 said:

@MaTtRoSiTy Oh really? I never knew that. Thought the Killers were always the host. I just hope BHVR will sort something out with players having an INSANE amount of ping. It's getting absurd as games after games I've played, were mostly killers with 200+ ping. And that is pretty bad if the killer is mainly favoured, yet not surprising either.

MaTiRoSiTy is correct in the days before dedicated servers the killer was the host. It's the same system still used in custom lobbies, what used to be KYF mode.

To OP they always are reluctant to add or re-add in things that guaranteed will lead to lobby dodging, as that worked up the matchmaking badly. It would be nice to have stronger and more numerous servers to best deal with this problem, but I get why players want to not play those high ping trials.

  • Where do three-mans fit into this? They'd get a solo player with them, and are more numerous than quads anyway.

I know. I'm just beyond frustrated with this particular killer and the people defending him.

I do think the devs will eventually address enraged vaults, which is sorely needed. Maybe they'll even adjust canceling mid leap, but that's unlikely. However one of the most frustrating parts of playing against this killer is his aim assisted hit scan grab and the devs sounded extremely proud when they revealed that, so it's never going to change and that really bothers me.

    @YamamuraVideoRentals said:

Ghoul seems okay, but the main thing I really hate about ghoul is their auto aim thing gives them free hits on survivors who are hiding, when vs just about any other killer, they don't see you and would walk by.

If they mess around with that aim scan assist any more he'll very likely become unplayable with a controller.

  • It'll go something like this:

If the new killer does not have map mobility and a good chase ability those in the PTB will pronounce them as non viable, and tell everyone so. That convo will start "Well against the survs I get every trial....."

I have seen some posts and quite a few people say that anonymous mode cannot be added to Xbox because “Xbox doesn’t allow gamertags to be hidden” (something along the lines of that) However, this is NOT true.

There are actually quite a few games on Xbox that allow anonymous mode. Fortnite, Valorant, and Overwatch, and more.

Anonymous mode is not automatic or required, it’s an OPTION. If a player is breaking the terms of service, BHVR can still see the persons username if they are reported.

If I’m not mistaken, every platform except for Xbox, has the option to be anon. One platform being singled out is incredibly unfair and shouldn’t be allowed.

If people are able to appear anonymous whilst playing with Xbox players, then why can’t Xbox get the option too? At the very least, you could make it so anonymous players names are visible to only Xbox, that way it’s fair game.

People can still be found and harassed by their gamertag, why encourage this? Why allow players to be posted online and be made fun of because they can’t hide their username on xbox?

Please at least TRY adding it as an option for those who would like to enable it.

When they rolled out their Anonymous Mode to the consoles several years ago it was indeed active on Xbox. Unfortunately the way they implemented it apparently it violated many Microsoft guidelines and was gone like two weeks later.

They said at that time it won't be coming back. Maybe things have changed since then?

If I recall correctly the issues were the gamertags you mentioned plus that nothing can interfere with being able to click on someone's profile, even if it's set to private and very little info is presented. Something like that, and it's unique to Xbox.

why not get a pc if you want to play the ptb that bad? you do realize that if something is on steam it can be updated way faster than something on console right?

I wonder how things might work if someday Microsoft buys Valve and Steam is along side Xbox...

I also don't see why having more participants in the PTB is bad, to test things out & find more issues before anything comes to the live version. Something like 70% of the players are not part of it, and end up weeks behind learning new stuff. Windows and Epic included.

But doesn't MMR have no impact in 2v8? If it doesn't, I'm sure the only problem with this idea is BHVR going through their spaghetti code to add it.

I don't think the results of the trial affect anyone's MMR, but it is still used to form the lobbies. I could be mistaken though.

  • @Gibberish said:

Killers shouldn't be locked into their chosen Killer like in 1v4, they should be able to change to another Killer.

Also, both Killers should be able to see each other's character mode/cosmeticsl in the lobby so they can do silly matching cosmetics or whatever.

All killers regardless of mode are locked because of the MMR system. It pulled that number to look for the survs within that killer's MMR range to form the initial lobby.

  • @OneNineTwoNine said:

I just don't agree that something that modifies the final output of the game is cheating. Yes it is cheating by the definition "third party software that gives you an advantage", but this definition is in my opinion way too broad, and also includes software like Discord, which ironically DOES give you more information but is not considered cheating. So the people saying this do not have a sound logical argument.

An EQ doesn't give you more information, it makes information already there possibly easier to hear (with the previously mentioned issues of distorting all other sounds), same with ReShade making pixels of a certain kind easier to see. I need to reiterate again that EQs do not give you the ability to pick out certain sounds, you can only modify the finished audio mix of all the sounds summed together.

I feel like I'm going crazy, people here are comparing EQs to stuff like stretched res when they are in no way comparable at all. Stretched res was cheating because it gave you additional information and was a quirk with the game itself, allowing you to see over walls and rocks. Stretched res is cheating and it's good that it was removed.

This community is waaaaay too strict on what is considered cheating, as if "an advantage" and "cheating" is the same thing. These tools don't make you a god at the game. They don't even make you instantly better, they only make the information that's already there, more accessible by a negligible amount. You still have to employ your own skills and game sense to actually get results. You still have to train your ears and eyes to pick out these details.

Now are you scummy for using these tools? Are you sweaty? Those are different discussions that I feel might have more merit, bar the accessibility argument. But cheating it is not.

I think part of all this is how the extreme ends of this feel to the opposite side.

Over here we have the hardcore PC gamer with an awesome headset perched 4 inches from a fantastic monitor enjoying 120 frames and entity knows what bells & whistles running for audio and visual "alterations."

Over there we have the casual consoler on a super comfy couch twenty feet from an aging TV and its aging speakers not even messing with the brightness nor contrast so it all doesn't look like nuclear winter.

The average DBD player is of course in between those extremes, but pure raw numbers place most of the playerbase much closer to that second bunch. Most likely over 70% at least.

In a game like DBD sound and visuals matter so much, probably more than even frames and ping, once you have become competent in either role. The inherent advantages of an very customizable platform are even more pronounced in this game due to how it was originally coded, much more than it should be for a CrossPlay game.

There really is no way to reconcile these extremes sadly.

If what matters is whether or not the devs allow it, then the whole, "outside program and the game wasn't balanced around it" is a meaningless statement. Either that's the criteria or it's not, otherwise this is inconsistent.

Personally I think "outside program and the game wasn't balanced around it." is the best criteria for judging "cheating" and I would apply it consistently across the board, so including coms. This seems a logical conclusion fitting the definition. The textbook definition is also generally just stating "dishonest or unfair acts". Really not anything relating to what is or isn't allowed.

If we judge by just "what the devs allow" this seems silly. If there was an outside program to let all killers move at 145% movespeed across the board, but the devs allowed it, is it now not cheating? I would still call that cheating.

Yet another argument for console-only matchmaking, as they're the platforms playing the game as intended, aside from comms. Not that it would ever happen.

Imo they grossly underestimated the effects of both comms and being able to choose teammates, but also it's much too late now to do much about either now.

  • @ToadMagic said:

I dont understand how people see this commonly. In 2k hours i've maybe ran into.. three or four? In hundreds of survivor games.

  • @Blueberry said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3930218#Comment_3930218

Would you say coms are cheating as well then? Given it's an outside program and the game wasn't balanced around it.

The only opinion on these kind of questions that really matters are the devs, and they've said repeatedly that comms is not cheating nor bannable. Reshade is whitelisted so again the devs say that's not cheating.

I bet our precious Switch cousins feel that anything above 30 frames is cheating, but on PC it can currently go to 120. 😋

While there's lots that one platform has access to that the others cannot, I look at most of it as unenforceable. How could they possibly know who's using comms, especially on the consoles, let alone do anything about if they wished to?
