If you don't get at least two Dedicated Server stopped responding errors a week are you actually a DBD gamer? 😋😂

The invisibility only lasts for 1 second and I can still hear him coming out of the door, unless you're playing in the living room without a headset on your console, really, but this bug is really harmless
Most of the players are on a console, prolly on that couch across the room from their TV. 😀

it should have the perk icon float over your aura on hook, so everyone knows you ll get out alone and just focus the gen
A meter showing the AFC status should go there too

Survivor one was tunneled and then survivor two was tunneled.
If that was the hook order, then Surv 1 was hard tunneled and then it was Surv 2's turn to be hard tunneled.
-
Last I remember, this cannot be added to the coding at this point. Much like a replay system it would have had to been originally coded back in 2016 it's too late now.
Maybe in a possible DBD 2 someday?
-
The only change I think Deliverance needs is some indication it's active to the rest of the team. Comms already can call out this, but solos cannot know it's ready to use or not. Maybe something added to the UI.

Something like what others here have mentioned.
Loss of collision between the killer and unhooked. Maybe no scratch marks a certain distance around that hook. Maybe mess around with grunts of pain too around that hook.
-
Whenever this suggestion has been brought up the response has always been both the language barriers and the availability of options like Discord and built-in comms most consoles come with.
Imo they just don't want the moderation nightmare adding comms directly in would be, but that's just my take.

I've been having a lot of fun with the hookless challenge, and now you can too!
This is a Bubba Build (and it only really works with Bubba tbh). No add ons are required, so go buck wild! The perks, however, are integral to the strategy.
In order to play the Hookless Challenge, you're bringing NOED, Rancor, Game Afoot, and Remember Me. Here is the game plan:- Find a survivor (preferably obsession) and down them. Make sure to do this with an M1 if you're not chasing the obsession.
- Slug them, and stand over the slug.
- Their teammates will likely attempt to pick them up after a while, and when you do spring into action to get them down ASAP, preferably keeping chase time with other survivors to a minimum, and build up Remember Me stacks.
- When the final gen pops, mori with rancor.
- Go after other survivors, and with NOED, Rancor, and Game Afoot all working together, your M1's are not only one hit downs, but if everyone has 0 chase time, they are one hit KILLS!!!
Remember Me should slow down folks at gates, so you can easily pick up 2 or 3 kills a match with this. I've been doing this build for over a year, and I'm consistently getting 3 or 4. It's so viable, and no one expects it! I would love to see what kind of counterplay folks come up with if this gets main stream!
So if a team has any sense they'll see the Hover Bubba, not take a chase, do gens, and leave. Comms would assure this.
Do you enjoy going against any of this when you play survivor?

That would mean they have been in a lobby/menu for over 4.5K hours. I have 4K hours in game and it says I have 456 hours for matches. I have been AFK from lobby a few times but not over 3.5K hours AFK. Something is going on.
I agree it seems off by a lot. Even if they exclude loading, menus, events & modes, lobbies, and any trial with a DC it doesn't add up.

A Practical Blueprint to Save Dead by Daylight (Before It’s Too Late)
Let’s skip the vague feedback. It’s time for action. Here’s a clear, community-informed blueprint to fix Dead by Daylight — and no, it’s not just “buff killers” or “nerf survivors.” This is about long-term balance, fairness, and identity.
---
1. Revert the Original Pip System for Ranked Play
Bring back the emblem-based ranking model where skill = progress.
Reward killers for hook states, pressure, and chase wins — not only 4Ks.
Reward survivors for gens, heals, unhooks, escaping, or at least trying.
> This lets players improve and rank up even in losses — if they played well.
---
2. Add Permanent Quick Play and 2v8 Game Modes
Quick Play: For fun, experimentation, dailies, or casual survivors/killers. No pressure, no MMR.
2v8: Let it live in its own queue. Great for social chaos, content creators, and stress-free gameplay.
> Don’t try to cram every type of player into Ranked — give us lanes.
---
3. Nerf Gen Speed & Toolbox Stacking
Reduce base toolbox efficiency, especially BNP abuse.
Cap synergy stacking (Prove + Hyperfocus + Stakeout + toolbox = busted).
Then you can remove gen regression caps because they won’t be needed anymore.
> Fix the source (gen rush), and you don’t need band-aids (Pain Res spam).
---
4. Keep Regression Perk Nerfs — But Make Them Strategic, Not Mandatory
Regression perks are fine if gens are slowed to earned speed.
No more “4 regression perks or lose in 4 minutes.”
> Balanced slowdown = balanced counterplay = better pacing.
---
5. Remove "Gimme" Perks That Undermine Skill
Windows of Opportunity, Low Profile, Deja Vu, etc. should go or be reworked.
> These remove risk, overinform players, and replace awareness with auto-win tools.
---
6. Implement Proximity Chat via Discord SDK in Ranked
Use Discord’s developer toolkit (already available) for seamless proximity comms.
This ends full-map SWF dominance in competitive queues without killing social play.
> In Quick Play, keep normal party comms. In Ranked? Everyone plays on equal audio footing.
---
Why All This Matters:
The real issue isn’t “killer bad, survivor OP.”
It’s that the game no longer rewards skill, respect, or strategy.
It rewards perk stacking, external comms, and meta abuse — while punishing nuance.
---
Summary Fixes:
Problem/Solution
Gens fly too fast Nerf toolboxes + synergy stacking
Killers feel powerless Remove regression cap post-gen nerf
SWF dominates ranked Enforce proximity chat via Discord SDK
Ranked feels broken Revert pip system to original emblems
Casuals vs. sweats clash Separate Quick Play from Ranked
Power creep Gut “auto-win” perks and force smart choices
---
Final Thoughts:
DBD doesn’t need reinvention.
It needs restoration.
The old systems worked.
We’ve all said it for 2+ years.
This is your chance, BHVR, to act before your core playerbase walks.
---
Let’s stop waiting. Let’s make this post visible.
Tag devs, upvote it, and let the suggestions rise.
If you care about this game — this is how we fight for it.
How would that Discord stuff interact with the PlayStations and Xbox, who already have comms built in that cannot be messed with? And what about Switch, who cannot use comms at all? Altogether the consoles are by far the largest portion of the playerbase.

It would be nice to see some new/differing viewpoints instead of the same people saying the same things ad nauseum, usually with negative connotations.
Most of the time when I see a topic, I know exactly who is going to respond and what they're going to say.
I'm honestly looking forward to reading the comments/opinions brought in by this chapter instead of the same things from the same old jaded, biased, or simply burnt out users.
Please treat new users with respect and listen to what they have to say.
This makes sense as they're going out of their way to make changes primarily with new players in mind. So their feedback would be looked for and collected, and it would be counterproductive to shun or dismiss their pov.
Maybe we can keep the us vs. them down a bit for a couple of weeks? 🤔

My suggestion is adding this one tech back in the game for chucky. This tech made this killer good and fun to play as. Is it fair for survivors? Yes because survivors can still counter it and given the fact that chucky has been slower from previous nerfs, it's even more the reasons on why it's fair. Hope you take a look and have have some plans for chucky in future updates!
I couldnt send a video but the tech im talking about is where chucky can slice and dice and hit a window or pallet and 180 flick back. I feel like he should be a bit more like blight!
Wouldn't that not be possible with a controller?

Then again let us do the same with "Breaking palett" and "picking up survivor". I do not see why when the other side suffer of it, it is called a "tech", but when YOU suffer of it, it is called "glitch" or "quality-of-life development opportunity".
I think every killer would appreciate picking up the surv instead of vaulting on over! 😂🤣

I'm not denying that the way the game is built is an issue but it's the balance of whether or not that older hardware is worth supporting if it's holding back the games potential.
If your stats are correct then it won't be for some time (if DBD maintains the fanbase instead of fizzling out) but eventually those stats will change to a proportion which might not be financially viable to keep due to players naturally upgrading their hardware.
I mean I currently play on PS5 and occasionally on Series X and they aren't exactly new anymore.
I imagine with the Switch 2 rolling out Nintendo will ease out the Switch 1 support, and that'll domino the PS4 and Xbox1 machines. I bet it'll happen next year, and they'll be phased out.

Either way, what is the point of designing a killer power for example Onryo that is LITERALLY to directly kill survivors, if it just ends up punishing them in the emblem system?
Most likely they didn't consider the emblems when designing killer powers.
-
@Linkdouken said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3941110#Comment_3941110
This is the hurdle. I know I'm probably going to get flack for saying this but at some point in the near future, old systems should and will stop being supported
The issue isn't the capabilities of those platforms, but how they attempt to digest DBD's coding. They all can run much more demanding games well enough, even the Switch, however it is just how this game was built that they struggle with. Even those on very powerful PC's feel this, as DBD is an unusually voracious gobbler of resources.
Since this is a Live Service game, they have to continue to support those platforms until Sony and Nintendo and Microsoft stop their individual support for them, or they can no longer physically run the game.
Most of the players are on the consoles (more than 70% or so globally) and around half are still on these prior gen machines. That's a lot of players.
-

I thought something had changed about them but I could never put my finger on it. Now that most people run on better hardware and consoles I wonder if it would still be as much of an issue especially considering there has been graphical overhauls since.
How much can they do with their, ummmm iffy coding,... while still supporting the Switch and PS4 and Xbox1?
-
@Linkdouken said:
Some weather effects would be nice. Imagine some heavy rain and thunder sounds with wind blowing props like the cowtree
For a few weeks Ormond and Lery's had storm effects, many years ago. They were removed due to game performance issues, same reasons why the fog and grass etc. were greatly reduced.
-

ItIt's kinda wild to get iri devout you have to kook 9 survivors-- just make it when you mori someone that counts for one? What's the point of giving us moris
Lore-wise it makes sense, as "kill by your own hand" is not offering up a sacrifice to the Entity. The suffering on the hook feeding them and such.
I actually forgot it doesn't count towards that Emblem (or achievements/adepts) as I see moris so rarely.

I remember this being confirmed in the infamous hockey stream, but if this remains true we don't know because we've gotten no details since then. They could have changed how they calculate skill/success entirely but as far as we know based on what's been confirmed to us it remains an escape-based matchmaking system.
Yeah last I heard it's a draw still

If you escape via hatch your mmr doesnt go up?
I don't believe so no . Could be mistaken, but I thought hatch escapes didn't change anyone's MMR. I'll look into it further.
-
@krazy_ivan said:
Alternatively, I would suggest 100% achievement should be allowed to be completed with the core original or non-licensed chapters in the game, and each new licensed chapter should have its own separate completion.
This isn't a bad idea. especially because they cannot change the Achievements or Trophies on the consoles at all, unless the individual achievements become physically unattainable.
-
@StutteringSpartan said:
So, what is used for matchmaking then? I took an extended break from the game, came back, and keep getting matched with people who have no clue what they’re doing. Where prior to my break if you reached gold or red rank you’d be playing with more experience survivors
The hidden MMR numbers are used for matchmaking. As surv if you survive your number goes up, and goes down should you be sacrificed. As killer your number goes up with 2+ kills and down with 2+ escapes, not counting hatch or DC's.
Of course backfilling due to loddy dodging wrecks this system.
-
@SetoKaiba said:
Once all these anti-stuff are implemented, what are the killers supposed to do after SWF dominates games further? What can you do against sabo squads? The devs are cooking their own game because they don't play on this level. When the devs streamed themselves playing dbd, you know they are bad. They have no experience in the top brackets.
They don't play their own game on this level. If they did, they would understand why we gotta be strategic. They just don't get it. They would rather listen to the survivors and the survivors act like it's not like that.
As @Aven_Fallen points out we haven't seen nor tested out these changes yet.
We should keep in mind they've never balanced the game around that mythical top high MMR area either. It's always been more about that most players experience in their trials, not what's possible by the extreme experts that make up like 6% of the whole or so.

The game has been moved to Unreal Engine 5 however this has not brought along many improvements.
I know this is nitpicking but I have noticed a slow decline of minor graphical settings, things which I do think most people won't notice.
The major one that has jumped out to me since it happened is low poly models being used frequently at longer distances - this is easily noticeable using any aura perk, you'll see either killers or survivors as blocky characters (low poly).
Another setting which would be much appreciated would be a resolution scale - using things like DLDSR breaks multi-monitor setups. Not even touching on the fact that Unreal 5 enables so many new graphical features - raytracing, lumen etc. None of these features are being utilised despite the engine upgrade.
I think the root of the problem is their unwieldy 2016 coding that limits so much of what they can do, despite an engine upgrade. Jokes about how easily it gets broken and is super bug-ridden come from this. The fact they even have a vertical limit of around Dracula's bats and no more is completely concerning, and hampers killer design.
Graphically they greatly reduced or removed elements like fog and swaying grass for performance reasons. All platforms the games is on, including the Switch, are capable of running the game much better but have difficulty digesting that coding. Even PC players with very strong machines notice this as DBD is an unusually voracious gobbler of resources when running.
What most likely is needed is a fresh recoding of the game from scratch, or an actual DBD 2, neither of which is coming sadly.

That's simply not true. As I said something over 70% of DBD players are not using Steam to play the game.
