I think youre confusing the word "cheating" with "advantage". Nobody is disagreeing with you in regards to using things like Discord or ReShade giving you an advantage, but if the devs green light it then automatically its not considered cheating.

The best way I can compare it to something thats outside the game is this video here:

    https://youtu.be/G-BJPNY0_Kg?si=Zd2Bmvaja-Hp0R_o

One of them is at a VERY clear disadvantage with what he has to work with when compared to his opponent. Does this mean he's cheating? Of course not. Just because you are better equipped doesnt mean youre a cheater.

I think you are missing the word "unfair" and having confusion that not being punished for cheating is somehow not cheating.

If you argue that everyone has communications software that they could use then I would have points to argue but the most important would be ReShade is not available on consoles.

Let's face it, SWFs should by now have communications in built and ReShade be banned but aren't being talked about due to the unfair advantages being obtained.

Life's not fair and neither is DBD

  • Two killers in a row stream sniped, the discussion is about players who do not care about a fair game.
If I am entitled I would agree with you that I should be entitled to a fair game as stream sniping someone makes the game pointless if you cheat like that.

Just wanted to step in and state that Discord (we have an official one), Reshade, etc are not considered Cheating and are not reportable.

BHVR have rules preventing punishment against this type of cheating and are not reportable.

However @Balrog respectfully a definition of cheating is to have unfair advantages over other players, as reshade and discord are not part of the game and give unfair advantages this meets this definition of cheating.

If for example communications were to be in the game then it would no longer be an unfair advantage and the game could be balanced around this.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

So for something like ReShade we have to note that they added a gamma setting, no? Is it perfect? Does it provide all the advantages that ReShade does? Absolutely not. But they did address that discrepancy somewhat. Console players are no longer left in the dark (literally). I'll also argue for ReShade's existence as a console player as I know of a number of people that use it specifically to be able to play on certain maps so they can play without sacrificing their physical health to do so. Yeah it's kind of cringe seeing the comp scene abuse it to the max and having a specific filter for every single map in the game so they can see 5% better but I'm on team "comp is kinda cringe" anyway.

As for comms, we have all the wonderful survivor HuD stuff they added uh…how many years ago now…time's going too fast help (3 years or something now right?) and more recently the hook stage thing for killers. Would it be neat if they added something like IDV's comms wheel to the game? Yeah, especially if they gave us a lore justification for its existence, with neat little animations and stuff to go with it ideally. Voice chat though…have you actually played solo queue in real competitive games? I don't think it'd make much of a difference in DbD and it'd probably drag in a whole bunch of new problems for everyone to deal with, least of all BHVR's moderators. People would jjust abuse the ######### out of each other in solo queue voice, or turn it off entirely (and then get abused for turning it off, or being in Discord instead of ingame voice). I do think that it's high time to show who is grouped up with who once people are loaded into the game, because that would allow people on both sides to more accurately play around 3rd party comms without introducing a lobby dodging problem, but…I doubt it'll happen.

Actively punishing people for using stuff like ReShade and Discord is simply out of the question. Like it's just impossible to moderate accuratelty & efficiently even if they wanted to. Which they don't and never will…friends play the game together, you'd be shooting yourself in the foot (with a shotgun) as a company to take that away. You're just inviting a new vector for false positives and other frustrations if you try to solve these problems with an iron fist. Some problems are better off being left well alone.

I feel like the solutions have been posted in OP which obviously nobody is talking about.
Punishment for cheating isn't what has been posted, merely actually balancing the core game which BHVR continue to ignore unlike other games

Dbd's offical Discord has chat channels for SWFing. That's cool you think it's cheating but I don't think they agree. Lots of popular streamers openly use Reshade. Again, don't think they agree with you.

    >Dbd's offical Discord has chat channels for SWFing.
Indeed they do which of course is cheap and not in the game.

    >That's cool you think it's cheating…
It's not whether I think it is cheating, having an unfair advantage over other players is by definition cheating.

    >…but I don't think they agree.
A definition of a word isn't decided upon by voting

    >Lots of popular streamers openly use Reshade.
Yes cheating is prevalent in DBD, as mentioned in the OP.

    > Again, don't think they agree with you.
    Again, it's not a vote

  • Unlike other games BHVR do not punish cheating with the unfair advantages gained from installing and using ReShade on their product, similar to other 3rd party software.

Survivors are more likely to be the cheaters than killers.

There's simply too much fun to cheat as survivor, like ''outplaying'' a killer with wallhack and speedhack. Getting a down as a killer with these things turned on certainly won't give the same ''dopamine boost'' effect. Also messing with Killer while being in SWF with cheats on must be the top tier extasy feeling to such people.

It's about having an advantage that does not exist within the game itself and is obtained with the use of 3rd party tools.

Wish I read all the comments, you've answered most of what I replied with.
Perhaps I answered my question that money is the reason cheating is encouraged in this game but for years this could have been a much fairer and balanced game at a basic core level.

  • @cogsturning said:

You're literally inviting them to do so by advertising. What do you expect?

Does third party communication mean Discord? And what does Reshade have to do with anything? These are all really different things.

    >You're literally inviting them to do so by advertising. What do you expect?
Post is regarding the prevalent cheating DBD, there are rules in DBD excluding punishment which encourages cheating.

    >Does third party communication mean Discord? And what does Reshade have to do with anything? These are all really different things.
3rd party software is anything external to the DBD game such as Discord, ReShade, Firefox/Chrome stream sniping
Cheating is to have an unfair advantage

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

Why is it important to say that those two usually play Survivor? Just curious.

And well, there is a difference between Streamsniping and using third party software. If you use your Twitchname ingame, you have to expect that Killers might streamsnipe you. Sure, streamsniping sucks, but to be honest, it is on your own risk if you want to advertise your stream.

I dont really understand this post, since the difference between streamsniping and using third party software is quite big.

    >Why is it important to say that those two usually play Survivor? Just curious.
More ways to cheat with the Survivor side of the game

    >And well, there is a difference between Streamsniping and using third party software.
No, streamsniping involves using 3rd party software external to the game

    >If you use your Twitchname ingame, you have to expect that Killers might streamsnipe you. Sure, streamsniping sucks, but to be honest, it is on your own risk if you want to advertise your stream.
Post is to do with the prevelant cheating from the DBD player base but thank you for a solution. It does however prevent advertising the twitch channel.

    >I dont really understand this post, since the difference between streamsniping and using third party software is quite big.

Abandoning a match is a game feature in certain circumstances. DCing is a negative gameplay behavior and is punishable in game. Just to clarify!

Also both are DCing (Disconnecting) to clarify, one is punishable one is not

Maybe to 'DC' quicker or is it called 'abandon' now?
Getting old, I can never keep up with changing new words like, is it'tech' for 'exploit'?

It was addressed in the PTB. I hope it makes it through to live 🤞

Thanks @flatlandgorilla, your post mean't a lot to me but I suddenly realised there is no way am I touching that PTB so at least it will be fixed for current survivor mains who will have to play killer

  • Just been working out it is 50 days ago since Twins has been disabled for me and the rest of the players who play using Inverted Up and Down and apparently there has been changes made to Twins… just not AxisYInvert

  • @MvHoeller said:

It's still in the game. Playing with Victor is really confusing right now and it even makes me dizzy when the camera moves in a different direction as my mind expects it. This should be fixed asap because it can cause motion sickness and nausea.

I'm on PS4, so it's not just a PC thing.

I did wonder if it affected controller as well, it should be simple to reset/put the code back in as before especially as a percentage of players who play inverted have had this killer kill switched. Thanks for comment @MvHoeller

  • @Swami626 said:

😑Same issue here on PC/Steam. Reported it months ago and only got requests for more details. Hope it gets fixed as Twins can be fun during events and this one is already half gone

I'm shocked it has been a MONTH, my first post came with a video and all the trimmings.

Breaks my heart to see simple game breaking bugs like this just be ignored and it has worked before, with an easy fix / win.

Saying that we still have Trapper who still has traps that don't automatically reset year after year now

  • You forgot Gideons… if ever any map needed even more pallets to make it more fun it's that map…

As a survivor main running the broken windows perk I feel it is too confusing which pallet to run to next at the moment…

The dual pallet loops are confusing, can both come already predropped to make it even safer?…

No, honestly why are we even having conversation. It's the same stuff all the time with BHVR, introduce some broken stuff waaaay over the top then reduce it to just a broken state.

When are we actually balancing the game with a currency system for weak/OP killers and solo/broken SWFs who just want to play with their friends with reshade and 3rd party comms?… sigh, back to being to logically sarcastic with this game again.

  • 9.2.3 | Bugfix Fix 3 Patch
    Retested - Failed, same issue

I honestly can't play a game/compete with Twins with this bug
What made matters worse is this Fix actually targetted Twins and Houndmaster
21st so 1 month logged but aware others have attempted to log this beforehand and logs closed, concerned similar closing of this bug issue will be closed without fixing.
Again, I am unable to play this killer or any player without Y axis being inverted

  • @flatlandgorilla said:

Same here. Were you successful with the workaround at least?

With the gen speeds so fast it is a huge timewaste but at least a work around thanks @flatlandgorilla

  • 9.2.2 | Bugfix Patch

    Retested - Failed, same issue

  • @flatlandgorilla said:

I experience the same bug. A workaround is to switch to Victor, go into settings, turn Y-axis inversion OFF, exit settings, then go back into settings and turn y-inversion back on. After exiting settings the second time, the inversion will work for the rest of the trial. This workaround wastes valuable time at the beginning of the match and is very frustrating. I hope this valid bug report by OP is not closed/dismissed again.

@flatlandgorilla thank you for the workaround as frustrating as it is to waste valuable time at least I can attempt to play Twins.

To find the logs (PC only).

Press the Windows Key + R to open the "Run" command.

In the text box paste the following: %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\DeadByDaylight\Saved\Logs

Click "OK" - this will open your Dead by Daylight Logs folder.

If it does not open the Dead by Daylight Logs folder, it may mean that when installing Dead by Daylight you chose to save your files somewhere else and will need to check there.

The file called "DeadByDaylight.log" is your log file.

    There ya go.

Thanks @Skillfulstone for the time but really this info should be linked.

Additionally the basic and obvious steps with description should be enough with invert view ticked, it feels more like they can't be bothered to log issue with the few that actually take the time to log an issue.

That's true, and that's what User Research does, they run playtests and surveys with the players who are signed up here:

    Behaviour Interactive Playtesting

User Researchers are not game designers however, they are experienced in the field of user research and normally data analysis also.

Live Designers, who are responsible for all live content (so everything in the game that gets changed)
    perk designers
new content designers (so new killers for example)
    —Reference details above———————————————————————————————————

From my interprettation of this and from the last huge PTB failure, it appears there are many cooks but no leaders in the actual balance of the game.

Currently this game like to introduce broken perks/combos to keep things fresh/exciting for the player base.

What is currently happening is that the core mechanic of camping and slugging is effective and the PTB was simply to punish killers to fix this. In the past whenever killers are punished for this with powerful DS, Off the record, basekit BT, etc it is then used offensively by the other side and not just defensively.

For this punishing of killers the other side need to be punished such as the obvious far too quick generators objective.

We are all heading towards, tunnelling 1 survivor out then 2nd survivor on a hook at end game which mathamatically is a balanced but unfun game for most players.

Killers when punished to acting like a bot in down, hook, down hook with no slugging/camping/tunnelling will lead to killer mains leaving, survivor mains playing killer then returning or leaving to evenutally have killers replaced with bots which will last for a few months before they become too predictable and survivor mains leaving.

Previously we knew these Balance team leaders, now imo we urgently need this role before all this happened. Good luck to them as if they are going off the pool average of players opinions and surveys they will not be heading in the right direction needing to be strong, fair, logical and game experienced.

  • @MechWarrior3 said:

Doesn’t look like any logs were provided given you were on PC too? Usually they require those if on PC

A video of the issue isn't a player log? What is a player log if not that, it doesn't appear to give detail when logging.
If this is a reoccuring issue, perhaps intructions to logging are needed or maybe it is intentionally done that way.

Have to ask the question then, what are these player logs on PC?

I should point out that the bug looking up and down with Victor and Charlotte being totally different whilst y axis is inverted can't be more obvious

  • I honestly was hoping to find some other streamers but all the posts seem to be about dislike.

Perhaps there are so few streamers now who put time and effort to trying to improve the game and this is just the list

  • Well it seems not to bother logging bugs from these replies then

Asking for a "balance team" is essentially like asking a restaurant to have a dedicated team just to improve the menu. Even if they had such a team, that small group cannot possibly represent the thousands of daily consumers.

Please re-read my comment, I am not asking for a balance team rather that that area be reinstated.
Your analogy is pretty poor, I could argue you are talking about the cosmetics team who have been amazing in dealing with the thousands of daily consumers. Why are people so negative in these forums?

  • @Chilli_man2400 said:

  • Tried logging a simple yet huge bug for me, invert y axis and pull back on mouse, charolette look ups, victor looks down.
Create video demonstrating yet bug was closed, with no reason given or even an easy way to reopen job to add whatever might be wrong/missing.

  • @Mandy said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3999799#Comment_3999799

There's actually not a "balance team" it's not a role in game design, the developers who work on Live design are game designers, and have been with us for many years.

In my opinion your company needs to employ staff back into your balance team, handing that task over to game designers will cause further examples like the last PTB as their tasks will be numerous. It would save time in the long run for development of this game. I will be honest that you no longer have a balance team.

  • @Mandy said:

Just to confirm, the people we've got working on the Game Design section have been there for a very long time, most over 4 years, some as much as 8. Some people have moved to other projects but the majority is still in situ.

@Mandy I didn't say the 'Game Design' section, I referred to the balance team.

I don't need to tell you that your balance team's decisions have been awful and what is even more worryingly clear is the lack of foresight.

It is very obvious what is needed to be done asap with this game but I can predict this time next year this game will have crumbled. Please save your game before then, you need to listen to key people in your community and not by posting surveys with many many of those loaded questions.

    Good luck and good night

They're doing this because of how many survivors are leaving the game with how killer sided it got.

    That's not whataboutism.

If you were playing well, you never would've hit the cap. In other words, git gud. Moreover, you're talking about not wanting the survivors to escape and having more time to chase them. And yet you kick gens that often, wasting your own time, making them complete the objective faster and therefore giving you less time to chase.

Then you get mad at me for pointing it out. Make it make sense.

You say not about whataboutism then do a whataboutism by saying…
"If you were playing well, you never would've hit the cap."
    which is like saying
"what about playing well and then this problem wouldn't be a problem."

The post is about kicking gens a few times and then be forced to allow gens to be completed.
It also draws a similarity to survivors healing and if they couldn't heal which would also stop 3 gen standoff.

You mention I am mad at you which I haven't said I was, what has emotional state to do with this?

  • @SoGo said:

No, this is an intentional thing.

That noise has been a thing for a while. It normally happens when you stand still while undetectable for like 10 seconds and then move. I dont know if its supposed to be some insidious scare thing or a audio warning since theres no footsteps or something. I dont think they've ever explained it. If they have im all ears to know why its a thing too. But its not exclusive to ghostface.

    Thank you for explaining @supersonic853

Strange the person below you gets 3 votes for aggressively trying to defend the survivor side with a single result despite it and then you who posted the logical answer and had no vote.

Was stalking all the way and at 90% started to walk towards them to get hit (still stalking)… this really shouldn't be happening on poor ghostface killers.

  • Was stalking all the way and around 90% slowly moved towards them whilst still stalking… seems really unfair, especially on such a weak killer like Ghostface

  • @Lixadonna said:

Why are you complaining. You still got a free down and you scared them.

Complaining about fairness, it simply shouldn't be a thing from what I have been reading so far.
It isn't about getting a down in this single instance, it's the fact that it is unfair as shown in this instance.
The survivor actually started walking away for no other reason than that audio warning.

  • I'm a killer main who 99% plays survivor and 1% killer.

When I play I totally destroy the survivors and don't need to tunnel

All other killer mains should do the same, also consider having a meme game like me.

Now remember to be a good killer main you have to not tunnel, not camp, last survivor always gets hatch and meme around.

*this is sarcasm, simply play how you wish to play your video game you purchased

  • In a standard solo lobby BHVR likes 2 good survivors with 2 bad survivors (compared to the skill level of the killer).

This means you are likely to get a lobby of 2 console and 2 pc… obviously that means 2 good and bad pc players ;)

There are exceptions to this however such as with a good or bad 3 man SWF.

  • @JawsIsTheNextKiller the rumours are true!

  • Totally agree, BHVR have a history of being terribly survivor sided.

All they need to is turn the existing sound files up to balance survivors…
