I know it feels unintuitive, but to be a successful killer, it's less about directly defending gens and more about putting pressure on survivors through other means to slow down the gen progress. You're gameplay will improve dramatically once you start working on that.

For example, here I'm essentially always trying to keep one person hooked which inevitable has one person needing to rescue them. That drops the amount of gen pushers by 50%. You'll notice that they become so busy trying to unhook, recover, and heal that little gen progress is actually being done despite me never having to directly defending them. The game is about pressure, not guarding.

    https://youtu.be/LRSwL1a40sE?si=bYXnmpa7MzRMyOYb

So as you are the ONLY person to mention 'heal' from the original post and not get whataboutism'd about more effect not to kick gens etc.

Restricting the killer from kicking gens is almost exactly like restricting survivors from healing after 'x' amount of times.

Why is the killer punished to bring the game to an end rather than the… wait forgot this is BHVR$ choice

Buddy, kicking gens is inefficient and 9/10 times a waste of time. You absolutely did kick wayyyy too much if you reached that cap. You wanna prevent survivors from escaping? Stop wasting your time

    So much whataboutisms….
This is about kicking gens, not whether you believe it is effective or how to tell someone how to play their video game.

  • @AlreadyTracer said:

    I didn't

But clearly you did because you somehow hit the limit

    Maybe I have OCD

Irrelevant, and idk why you brought it up

You asked if I kicked often, I don't think I kicked often… what is often especially when you kick something as often as needed?

Odd you think OCD is irrelevant but every gen that has been worked on I want to kick to have more time chasing the survivors and preventing them from escaping

  • @Destaice said:

To prevent hostage situations where the killer sets up an unbreakable 3 gen and never kill survivors

Still makes no sense, never seen 3 gens next to each other or an unbreakable 3 gen… unless some bug with map generation?

You could argue that survivors never doing gens (without needing a 3 gen) should not be able to heal after 'x' times which is also crazy.

Isn't everyone just DCing now anyway, seems mean spirited towards killers

  • @AlreadyTracer said:

Why are you even kicking so often?

I didn't or maybe I have OCD, either way why on earth do something crazy like that??

To be frank, people have found bugs over the years like the Autohaven map openings, that allow players to "escape the map" without hacks. These are normally patched out within a couple of weeks, but I've found a couple of them over the years, especially with Nurse. If they just added some code saying, "If player outside of bounds = treat them as a hacker," that means a lot of weird bugs we've seen would punish people who aren't hacking.

Not sure what bugs have to do with a hacker, there is a big difference

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/446914/dedicated-server-not-responding

I will admit it does seem awfully convenient when it happens to me. It’s always when I play killer, I’ve never had it occur while playing survivor. When it happens I’ve usually already won the march just about too hook the last survivor and boom dedicated server not responsing. It never happens when I’m losing, its always when I’ve won or applying enough pressure to win.

Now I am not saying its definitely cheaters but it does tend to seem like it.

Just played a hacker so could be possible

Ok let's break down your points

"stop using discord for proxy chat wasn't OP but fun idea that would be great, however 3rd party comms would prevent it." not gonna lie this part is so poorly written I don't have anything to say because I don't understand what you're trying to say.

"I'm afraid HUD show more very little when compared to any SWF using 3rd party comms, BHVR has realized and given up on the idea trying to give as much information, like trying to ban it, you can't as you couldn't 100% detect it." Again, most of this is poorly written and I don't any idea what you're talking about. The first part of this comment though, they've added plenty of info that helps people perform better in matches even without comms. BHVR didn't "give up" they did everything except straight up give permanent aura reading basically and maybe a couple meters showing how far along things are. Like you legit made this up to make SWF look stronger than it is.

"Devs could never say comms isn't cheating because that obviously wouldn't be the truth with the advantages over other players it gives, they have said it isn't bannable and can be used in DBD similar to reshade." You realize cheating is bannable right? So you just straight up admitted they said it isn't cheating. Cheating in games implies you're breaking the rules, if they say something is fine within the rules of the games so you can't be banned for it, it isn't cheating. You can't make up your own definition and role with it. Sure it gives an advantage over other players, so does bringing Brand New Parts, are Brand New Parts cheating? No because it's something you're allowed to use.

"Focusing on the OP introducing communications in game isn't fun for me and other but unfortunately it is what is needed if BHVR were to be serious about balancing their game." Not going to comment on the opinion part of this because your opinion is your opinion. However, every single online game that is competing with dbd that has brought in voice comms has died or is close to dying. Also, dbd is asymmetrical, you can't balance that, it's in the nature of the game.

Last thing to leave off on, if the developers didn't want you playing with people you know, they never would have added swf to begin with so stop this bs of trying to argue that somehow playing with people you know is cheating. Get over yourself and get better. That last bit might be harsh, but it's the honest truth. This is a losing battle. The devs have never tried to ban anyone for using the swf feature in the game and talking to people. You know why? Because it's part of the game.

"Ok let's break down your points"

I stopped reading after you couldn't or didn't want to understand it but thanks for the attempt

  • I just think short minded thinking by BHVR or perhaps they are unable to actually code a solid audio communication system into their game… I fancy spagetti right now

  • @angrychuck said:

Honestly I think a major problem with in-game voice chat would be the fact that this game is rated for adults yet has a censored chat. Basically if BHVR doesn't want us to have the ability to use slurs, swears, etc. giving us voice chat probably is in their best interest.

Treated like children with daddy's credit card

  • Bless Judd, he is a great supporter of survivors where the butter is spread but if he thinks turning up the audio recordings of survivors will fix the spagetti code then perhaps he isn't Italian and stop just droning on

  • @thrive2survive said:

Ngl, I've been behind the limiting perks and items to a point system for a LONG time. I can't wait for BHVR to NOT add it. Any idea that doesn't come from them probably will never make it into the game play system. Just goes to show how much pride can cloud vision.

Down votes toward this idea will of course come from people who only play SWF.

It is like an owner of a sports club, they will refuse to even consider an idea from the supporters even if it leads to their ruin and is detrimental to their club… people are crazy

  • All over RPD, couldn't go through doorway/stair points.

  • If I wish to lower my MMR I do… but I don't, I hardly play killer now it's so bad at high mmr.

I've noticed the level of skill from killers has dropped also… perhaps BHVR need to listen to both sides of the community for a fair and balanced game instead of these long loaded questionaires

  • "Oh Lawd, Here we go again!"
So true, makes you wonder after all this time whether it will ever get balanced.

I mean, my fun stops when people call me slurs, so no, I do not want proxy chat or people blasting music in my ear. Not to mention I don’t speak Spanish, and I get matched with many people who speak only Spanish.

People always refute and say then turn it off, then we are right back where we started in terms of balance.

An option to have it is only a good thing, personally I'd love to learn some spanish

  • @ChurchofPig said:

So how are you going to stop people from using discord? How are you going to stop people from maybe meeting up in person with their laptops, steam decks, switches, whatever and playing that way? Also with the amount of information the HUD now shows survivors, with the exception of exact location of the killer, there's not really anything a bunch of solo queue people don't know that swf do. Also the devs have said multiple times over that using voice chats aren't cheating, so the whole "the definition of what they are doing in DBD" part holds zero weight and you're just throwing a word out there to make it seem worse than it is.

    Hi @ChurchofPig
stop using discord for proxy chat wasn't OP but fun idea that would be great, however 3rd party comms would prevent it.
I'm afraid HUD show more very little when compared to any SWF using 3rd party comms, BHVR has realised and given up on the idea trying to give as much information, like trying to ban it, you can't as you couldn't 100% detect it.

lol, i'll be honest I've just had that in my last game where the feng was trying to work with the killer to show them where i was on the map

  • @Metagamer said:

The only reason I can think of as to why SWF would be against in game comms to because they know a bunch of killers would require buffs to function even in solo queue, particularly stealth killers and those that REALLY struggle against communicated survivors, such as Trapper (every SWF's favourite bully toy), Hag, Pinhead, etc. Otherwise I don't see why anyone is against built in comms. Even most killer players want it to bridge the gap between SWF and solo q

It's either the game is balanced for solo players (likely is with the focus on new players enjoying the game) or it is balanced for swfs who are most likely using other software like communications… either way you can't balance for one or the other, or even in the middle as it is just not fair

  • This game is designed to give you free seconds if you are awful at the game. Perks rule, skill does not

  • EVERY play in DBD, killer, survivor and streamer thought this was an April fools joke… similar to #NerfPig.
    However it wasn't even April

  • I'm guessing this is being moved to suggestions so that it is hidden. I posted it in General for conversation, thoughts and ideas from the community… as dangerous as that may sound in this day and age.

I've been away for years and only returned cause I saw on YouTube that Tokyo Ghoul made it in. Like the other commentary said, more info is needed.

Did you get burned out? Found a better asymmetrical horror gamr? hate how killer currently feels? What?

I'd say played at high mmr but found it boring seeing survivors do what I'd expect them to do yet not be able to do anything physically about it as killer. Add bugs/auto aim delaying an important down in a time management game causes frustration rather than fun. Lowering mmr/rank reset is bad as I start to feel bad for the survivors who don't seem to have a clue what to do.

Kept in dark so for example my saying I played at high mmr is as true as being low mmr or someone low mmr being able to say they play top mmr. swfs say they aren't swfs. No improvement from community as a player/with game when no incentive to improve.

I know that this one might be an extremely hot take but slugging responsibly, as to create pressure or when someone is purposfully trying to get themselves hooked, or even when i've all but confirmed they had decisive strike. I'm worried that my main pressure tool is going to be gutted by the new slugging update

    Nope, not bad at all.
It gives killer an alternative to pressure which when you have a survivor meta build based on unhooking you can become quite frustrated as you lay there taking around the same time to bleed out as hitting the end of a 3 stage hook.
BHVR do not like to upset survivors, has given up on balancing SWFs with solos (when excluding the obvious communications that was pointless anyway), do a survivor meta shake up by nerfing meta perks then rebuffing them before then adding more strong perks to consider but ultimately stick with the strongest year after year meta perk, continue to nerf killers, bring no balancing system to match a nurse/blight with legion/ghostface, refuse to address broken comms, reshade, syringes, map offerings and is trying to get as many auric licenced stuff as possible… IMO.

BRUH I HADNT REALIZED UNTIL NOW BIG BUTT MERCHANT DOESNT HAVE DAILIES 💀💀💀💀 OMG

Starts with 'BRUH' doesn't read a single word after that as this game is 18+

  • Oh, sorry I'm drinking numerous types of liquid so I should expand.

Killer having alternative options creates more varients for survivors to carry but survivors don't want that, similar to PHead they don't want a cage when they have DS. How can DS work against being slugged, it can't so they have to have a variety… but wait that isn't optimal so as BHVR 'shook up the meta' it lasted for a few weeks until Unbreakable and DS were back in there… 'BORING!' is how this game is heading and will nose dive. Sorry but everyone knows it and BHVR don't seem to care

  • @CipherMRV said:

Name ONE thing bhvr did recently that buffed swf and nerfed solo. You can't cause there is nothing. They have been adding soloq buffs constantly as of late. Nice bait kid, try harder next time

Perhaps you can't read but to answer your question with a simple answer, they nerfed CoH so that solo players could no longer heal themselves. Next question, please follow up as I have so much more x

  • Slugging? No it is not all that bad. It gives the killer an alternative end game solution, however survivors are fickle and bhvr appreciate new players and their auric cells. Next question

  • @hermitkermit said:

There is no built in game buff that is automatically given to players who are SWF. The success of SWF is still reliant on the players themselves. They have to communicate effectively, and still do the same objectives SoloQ has.

Statistics show that 4 man SWFs have an escape rate of 40% and in high MMR, which is the top 5% of players, an escape rate of 48%.
Solo has an escape rate of 40%

So the vast majority of SWF do not win much more than Solo. If you want to talk about the top 5% of SWF, than sure they win about 8% more than Solo, but they are also a minority and have an occurrence rate of 3% - 6%.

    >"There is no built in game buff that is automatically given to players who are SWF."
Incorrect, one simple example would be all knowing what perks they are bringing. BHVR have announced they will not be allowing solo's to have this. You can either look at that as a buff to SWF or a nerf to solo's.

    >"The success of SWF is still reliant on the players themselves."
This is a pointless statement as it is true of all players, however with extra recent buffs from BHVR and the unfair advantages gained with using 3rd party software like communications….

    "They have to communicate effectively,"
Wrong, SWF do not communicate they are only grouped together. Communications allow that.
Additionally at this point without communications the same applies for all players.

".. and still do the same objectives SoloQ has."
You realise you are arguing SWF are only solo players which is true and yet failing to see they are also more than that.

"Statistics show that 4 man SWFs have an escape rate of 40% and in high MMR, which is the top 5% of players, an escape rate of 48%. Solo has an escape rate of 40%"
And coffee is more expensive than yesterday… what are you on about?

"So the vast majority of SWF do not win much more than Solo."

"If you want to talk about the top 5% of SWF, than sure they win about 8% more than Solo, but they are also a minority and have an occurrence rate of 3% - 6%."

You are arguing about SWF being worse than solo's with the post about buffing SWF's even further?
Perhaps make a post entitled solos are strong than SWFs? Good luck with that.

This post is about how BHVR are buffing SWFs vs solo, not about how they break the game with 3rd party communication software, this is a topic that isn't liked to be talked about on these forums.

Bud, you know that circle of healing is a survivor perk?
How the ######### the nerf of CoH buff SWF? Give detail, not saying opposite statement

Okay, this is just focusing on a single perk, this post is regarding how BHVR are buffing SWF vs solo survivors.
To address this point which I feel is heading off topic, CoH used to be great for solo as they didn't rely on other survivors healing them.

  • @DeBecker said:

  • @GlamourousLeviathan said:

Technically, a specific brown blood web node is harder to appear than a specific Iri on high level bloodwebs. As killer, every bloodweb has to be have one or two iridescent nodes, so and you roll them between your 2 iridescent addons that every killer has and the Ebony Mori. For the brown nodes, you are having to divide between all your brown addon's and the other offerings that are basically bloodweb pollutants. This is the same for survivor though.

So a further nerf for killer sold as a buff, kind of what I expected with the results so far

I promise you, this is not a nerf to any killer directly. This new proposed effect will in fact be more helpful to some killers.

Thanks for the reply but those are words nothing logical.
The nerf is to another tactic away from hooks, reducing tactics for killers into a one simple use hooks.
The more helpful is a new perk with the same name which is in no way a different tactic/playstyle

How on earth could this be bait?

SWF with Comms have been buffed far more away from Solo survivors since Circle of healing solo healing nerfed.

I aren't going into how huge the difference between solo and communications is, I am simply saying that BHVR talked about bringing solo to SWF level, then decided to buff SWF further away from solo… makes no sense

Mostly to play hit and run sadly, but my issue with stealth in dbd as a whole is a whole nother can of worms

So they aren't stealth, can't get early hit then run?

There are people who like the game to be played how they want it to be played, you know the sort who tell you it is a party game, do gens don't hide. These are all interesting but it is like slugging and hooking, these are two styles and thank god there is a mixture otherwise we all do gens, leave totems and exit… kinda yawn?

  • Haven't you seen the terrible nerfs to general killer players/perks and specific killers?

I honestly think they are meme killers now

Thank goodness for that, if it wasn't for the sound effects stealth killers could always just get free hits on survs so long as they're not completely in the open

Meaning what is the point to play a 'stealth' killer as their power is their non-existant stealth to get a surprise hit but then be useless with no power for the second down

  • Lets not forget how 'stealth' killers aren't actually stealth killers no matter what terror radius.

Wraith: crackle crackle Bing Bong… or crackle crackle whoooosh with IRI addon
    Myers:Hooooh, Hoooh
Ghostface: Flap, flap, flap… burrrrzss (wait, I'm looking at the killer??)
Deathslinger:… wait scratch that, he was nerfed
Onryo: The LOUDEST 'stealth' killer ever
SkullMerc: So bad to play even DBD doesn't seem to give this killer as a daily
    Chucky: Ha ha ha ha…

All of these I can happily sit on a gen not looking with the exception of tier 1 myers, I just listen for the 'stealth' killers

  • and I join as further killers are nerfed…….
