Yeah, that’s a really fair take — I respect that a lot. It’s good to hear you notice and appreciate those moments too, even if they’re small. And yeah, keeping chat off unless it’s worth it is honestly a smart move; playing for fun and peace of mind is what matters most. @Vess

That’s such a great take, honestly. It’s awesome that you notice when killers play with that bit of awareness and try to make the match fun for everyone — that kind of attitude really helps keep the game enjoyable. I totally agree, matches don’t have to end in escapes to still feel good; it’s about getting those moments to actually play and have some fun. Thanks for sharing that — it’s nice to see players who still appreciate balance and sportsmanship in the fog. 💖 @Vess

Yeah, I totally get that — everything you said makes sense. You’re right that being “too nice” can backfire and that a lot of players won’t appreciate it or even take advantage of it. Adjusting your playstyle based on how the lobby acts is completely fair, and honestly that’s how most people end up keeping the game fun for themselves.
I guess my point was more about intention — that playing kindly doesn’t have to be for others, but for your own mindset. Like, if you choose to be chill, it’s not about getting thanks, it’s just about not letting the negativity drag you down. But yeah, your take is totally valid — play your way, just do it consciously and own it. @Abbzy

Look I value your optimism but its easier to do as killer but how you wanna 4 other people bring to be more less sweaty. Thats the problem they wont be and there is always someone who will just sweat and be toxic and mostly survivors arent argue with each other in endgame chatt but they team up so if someone basicaly unhooks teammate instantly when you hook him and than sandbags that unhooked survivor (its rare but can happen) from my personal experience the farmed and unhookedm survivor will blame the killer even the fact the wrong move and main vilian of that story is his teammate who farmed him and than let him get caought again, its kinda sad but reality.
The thing is, you don’t have to make anyone else better — you just have to be good for yourself. You can’t control how others play, but you can choose how you react. That’s where the real difference starts. Thank you for sharing your opinion though, I appreciate it. :)

Every time I play Scratched Mirror, I am always chill about it.
I'll do what I can to scare the living daylights out of the survivors, but I always let them go in the end, and I always meme around in the end as well, such as turning into Michael Jackson at the exit gatesThat’s the spirit, my friend!

Extremely one sided post
You’re right — this post calls out killers more, because I was aiming at people who can directly choose to let survivors go. But this isn’t meant to exclude survivors — everyone can help the vibe. If you’re a survivor and you roll with a chill killer, don’t insult them — celebrate it. It takes two to make the fog pleasant.

Just play Trapper. Literally no one will be mad at you, even if you play competitive.
Who can be mad at Evan, like seriously?
Jokes aside, I have my most chill matches as Trapper. Maybe just the mindset that I run a match on one of the weakest killers calms down the situation a bit by default and I have less "I gotta perform good as killer" stress.
I do not care about kills with Trapper, I just love the sound when someone steps in my traps. It is the most fun when they step into traps right in front of you and you just stand there and stare down on them in some reproachful way (best paired with Honing Stone and running of when they fall down).
Make the whole situation a bit comedic, you know. And it is also pretty amusing that survivors get either cocky or assume I am nice, just because I am a Trapper. I also don't run his best addons or some wicked perk build (just a rather solid one with Corrupt, Undying, Ruin, Agitation).
And between 0k and 4k I get all kinds of results and it always is fun.
Haha yeah, that’s the perfect mindset — Trapper is peak chill energy: part menace, part comedian, and 100% good vibes in the fog.

I have learnt many things but one is kidness will get spoted like in 1/1000 cases so mostly you will just get called baby killer or lear to play than just get sport man like reaction from survivors which ignore the fact you could killed more of them but you have 3 of them dead hook on last gen done and one guy who havent been hooked is just killed by camping in endgame because there isnt point going for chases when survivors can just make it to gates and they will still throw insuts to your face.
The older and more experienced you are you will kinda see that more kind and good person you are no one will reward it or respect it and just abuse it even those you wouldnt expect to do it and when they will tell that you were good, kind you are mostly done so thanks but I wont play as gentleman because survivors would like it and they will play against me like most toxic ……they can and throw insults I would rather crush them (when I see they dont joke around and sweat) and return them insults if they throw them first becasue being kind will get you in bad way mostly.
Of course, you’re totally free to play however you want — that’s the beauty of DBD. But I don’t think that mindset of “kindness doesn’t matter” helps the community much. If everyone gives up on being decent because others aren’t, the fog just keeps getting darker.
Even if it’s rare, those 1-in-1000 moments when someone does notice or appreciate your kindness? They stick. They remind people there’s still good energy here. So yeah, crush the sweat squads if you need to — but don’t let the toxic ones take away your ability to play with heart when you want to. That’s real strength in this game.

i already do this personally
but thats because i cant stop winning as dredge so i myself give up as killer but keep playing for BP and funny/fun moments i let em stun me and even down the last guy and bring em to hatch if they let me of course but its always my favorite one that gets hatch whether that be their survivor skin or how fun they were
P.S. I really like cool or spooky skins so if you see me in the fog just look at me and T-bag and I'm there and will follow like a dog to see
Haha that’s awesome! Honestly that’s the perfect balance — still having fun, farming some BP, and spreading good energy in the process. And noted — if I ever see a Dredge that just stares after a T-bag, I’ll know it’s you respect for keeping the fog spooky and kind!

Good idea but every dam time I try to play normaly and chill I get the sweat lords and most bad isnt loosing but the lame narcissistic insults in chatt so if they sweat a little I will give them my best too.
Yeah, I totally get that. It’s hard to stay chill when others play toxic or insult you — it gets to everyone sometimes. But I think that’s why kindness hits harder when it does happen. You don’t always have to rise above, but when you do, it makes a difference. Even one chill match in ten can change the vibe a bit. This is the best answer I could give to you, sorry if that does not satisfy you.

I wish the toxicity stayed only in the game but i've had many survivors take it on my steam profile even. I'm saying survivors since i havent had 1 killer type nasty stuff on my steam profile.
It sucks that i have to play on anon or make my steam profile so people can't write comments because people can't stop being jerks. I usually only comment positive things on peoples profiles. To give them a +rep or a <3 for being an awesome teammate or survivor to go against, or being a wholesome killer or just giving us a great match.
That really sucks, and I’m sorry you’ve had to deal with that — it’s honestly ridiculous that game salt spills over into something as personal as someone’s Steam profile. That crosses a line from in-game frustration into real harassment, and no one should have to deal with that just for playing a match.
You're doing the right thing by locking down your profile or going anon. It’s unfortunate that we have to take those steps, but protecting your peace is more important than being “reachable” for strangers. It’s also pretty telling that you’ve mostly had this behavior from survivors — I’ve noticed the same pattern, and I’m not saying killers are saints, but there’s definitely something about survivor-side entitlement or ego that seems to spark more of this out-of-game stuff.
It’s really cool that you go out of your way to leave positive comments though — we need more of that energy in the community. Little things like that can make someone’s whole night, and it’s good to hear from players who aren’t jaded or out for blood in the post-game screen.
Keep being one of the good ones. <3

Good take. But I feel people that act this way aren't open to this kind of feedback or self reflection. I've got so many thoughts about post game chat so may as well share them.
What I've been wanting for a long time now that I think would improve post game chat as a whole is a couple simple changes: Give players that have chat enabled an icon that says they have it enabled or not. Not an icon that shows if they have the chatbox hidden or visible, but rather if they have access to post game chat at all. So console players you'd see "No chat" icon, Epic players you'd see a chat icon, etc. Then, add an option to just turn off and opt out of chat completely, needing a complete restart to change the setting.
I think it would be a huge eye opener for a lot of people that spew bullshit into post game chat when they realize the overwhelming majority of the people they face never even see their message, and they have to find another way to cope with how mad DBD makes them. Maybe they never improve, maybe they take it out in other ways. Whatever the end result, I think it'd be a good one. It'd be a win for BHVR too since there would be less chat to moderate if fewer people used the chat as a whole. Maybe add a "gg" button that gives everyone in the match a few bloodpoints? Even players without chat, like console players could use this button. That would incentivize people to be positive and even reward players for playing nice, even if it's just bloodpoints and a little icon at the end of a match, every little bit counts right?
And if they're feeling extra ballsy, they could even let console players enable post game chat with the same setting. I don't bother engaging with chat all that much nowadays, but I feel it would make the game as a whole feel less toxic. I'm mainly here cause I love the gameplay and there's no game quite like DBD.
Oh and remove the chat filter completely. Take some responsibility for the things people type in post game chat, and mute people if they overstep. Don't ban them from the game, just completely remove their ability to chat. I don't think saying awful things should get you banned from the game, but definitely banned from chat if that's all you use it for.
Really solid points — I appreciate you laying this all out. You're right that a lot of the people who get toxic in end-game chat aren't exactly the self-reflective type, and probably won’t be swayed by a "just go next" message. But that doesn’t mean the rest of us can’t shape the environment into something healthier — and your suggestions are honestly some of the best I’ve seen in that direction.
The chat-enabled icon idea is brilliant. It would immediately show players how irrelevant their rants might be. If half the lobby can’t even see what you're typing, maybe it makes you think twice. It also adds some clarity for those of us who want to give genuine ggs or ask questions, so we’re not talking into the void.
I also fully agree on removing the chat filter. Let people say what they say — and then moderate accordingly. A chat ban for repeated toxicity would hit way harder than a filter they can easily bypass with misspellings. And it still lets people enjoy the game if they’re not causing issues in gameplay itself.
Your ideas offer real, practical changes that could make that space better for everyone, without trying to change the unchangeable parts of the playerbase.
Thanks for sharing all this — I hope someone at BHVR is taking notes.

Hey, I really appreciate your well-thought-out take you raised a lot of points that I think many in the community share, especially around expectations versus what we got in this chapter.
You're absolutely right that this version of the Animatronic seems more rooted in the FNAF movie universe than the original game lore, and that definitely impacts how the power and aesthetics were designed. I imagine that licensing limitations and creative direction from Blumhouse or Scott Cawthon may have steered the devs away from some of the more “game-accurate” or lore-heavy mechanics like springlock suits or roaming animatronics.
That said, I agree that throwing an axe-like projectile doesn’t feel super on-brand for FNAF. It’s functional from a gameplay standpoint, sure, but in terms of horror identity and immersion? It kind of misses the mark. Your idea of blending Knight and Nemesis mechanics to create a roaming animatronic patrol system sounds way more thematic and could’ve created some seriously tense map control. Maybe something like that just wasn’t feasible performance-wise, but it's a great "what if."
As for the Mori — yeah, I feel you. Afton shoving someone into a suit (complete with springlock failure) would’ve been brutal, iconic, and deeply in-line with FNAF lore. Instead, we got something a bit more generic and flashy. Not bad, just… not as meaningful as it could have been.
Still, I think the security door mechanic is at least a creative attempt to channel the FNAF vibe of containment and claustrophobia, even if, as you said, it looks a little awkward and could use some polish.
And yes I 100% agree that this chapter is a prime opportunity for Legendary Skins. Foxy as Blight would be perfection. Fast, erratic, terrifying. There’s so much potential here to keep both FNAF fans and DBD fans hyped.
Let’s hope BHVR listens to feedback, because with a bit of tuning, this chapter could evolve into something really special, especially if they lean harder into FNAF's unique flavor in future updates or cosmetics.
Thanks again for your post, great discussion.

Being a console player, I can honestly say you don't even need a chat box. BHVR should give PC folks the option to just remove it.
honestly, i don't think its about chat box itself, its about community's mindset. In my opinion removing chat box wont be the best option.

Trust me, old dbd wasnt better. bugs. broken meta's. goofy running animation. what are we even arguing about?

I don't have a console sadly :(

The slugging on last two survivors was always a problem so i don't see why they should remove mori just because its mori. It looks cool getting moried than just hooked and also more rewarding for killer. Even before last mori was basekit killers did that by slugging 1 survivor and trying to find second one to hook them both. Counter for it is hiding in locker i guess not so much killers check lockers because it wastes your time. Survivor "giving up" button will make it worse with giving up on killers u dont like and will promote "just go next" tech that will be really annoying for killers. And no it haven't got worse with mori basekit it was like this before. Wait out before teammate bleeds or you bleed to get the hatch, sounds selfish but i think it will work best. If u getting slugged and ur 2 left just turn on music or something and just chill until match ends! Please guys dont fight with me for it, its my opinion as I see it. Hope this helped!
