Breaking a pallet puts the Power on a cooldown Timer based on 2 Leap Tokens.
(was 1 Token)When is blight getting this nerf? I hate this part in ghouls kit, but blight deserves this.
There are some nerfs I want to suggest to make kaneki more skillful to play in compensation for buffs. Reducing the hit scan hit box further and reducing the time you have between the leaps to start another leap.
If they further mess with those hit scans he'll become unplayable with a controller
-
Y'all crack me up! 😂🤣
-
The comparison to Skull Merchant isn't in terms of their kits or relative strength, but how many survs view facing them.
Because Ghoul is both popular and very strong, it adds to the feeling of it's Ghoul again we have no chance I'm out. It's not about counterplay, it's about not even trying against them in most cases. Just like Skull Merchant for so long.
-
More effective anti-cheat aside, they've said that it's practically impossible now to add in a match replay system now, that such a thing would have had to been originally coded back in 2016.
Maybe in a possible DBD 2 someday.
-
If I had to guess, they don't want to remove them again should they once more lose that license.

Maybe your region has plenty of bad people, In my region there is nowhere near as much DCs as penalty off
The playstyles do vary greatly depending on region, MMR, even time of day. There's definitely a mindset difference big time.

Headsets are handy for hearing survivors 😁 even when blinded by flashlight I can still chase them by sound, had a few tombstones while totally blinded because of a headset lol
Maybe that's the reason why I've never gotten much out of Spirit then? 🤣

Sounds like the exact same thing that happens now.
Perhaps we should try to address why people hate the modern game instead of beating them over the head with punishments.
How they exactly deal with 4% yeets will determine lots, but yeah they need to dig into all the reasons players actively throw or leave absolutely.
-
Each and every time they have to turn off the DC penalties for whatever reason, evil things happen. Every time.
Get a map you don't like, yeet. First one found or hooked, yeet. Someone running No Mither, yeet. Devour cleansed immediately, yeet. Rat farts over there somewhere, yeet.
And then the trials get quickly out of control. No thank you.

Maybe a very old report finally was acting on? They do tend to ban in waves.
-
I think first they need to look at the killers who are add-on dependent for them to feel good to run and/or be effective. Reload add-ons for Deathslinger comes to mind, he feels awful without them. But other killers all are run with one or two particular add-ons pretty much every time. A couple during power updates have had some common add-ons added into their base, but more is needed.
Have they ever put out add-on usage stats per killer?

yeah I had a feeling that'd be the case. Still sad tho.
There's just no getting around the original 2016 coding of this game, no matter what engine it is now running through.
In a fantasy world a DBD 2 is made from scratch, completely recoded from the ground up. Imagine with all they have learned by now included in. Maybe a match replay system for players to learn from and make reporting less barbaric? Maybe a reconnect feature? Maybe a truly airborne killer power? Maybe a thorough optimization? 🤔

Hi just wondering now with cross progression, if Console Only (crossplay off) is a nice vibe to try, I miss when I started DBD on PS4 back on the day (I moved to PC with the cross play update). As usually controller metas vs M/KB metas are very different.
Does anybody know? The issue with turning their CrossPlay system off is you will only then be matched with players only on your particular platform who also have it off.
For instance, say you're on PS4 and turn CrossPlay off. Now you'd only get matched with those also on PS4 who also have it off. You are not only now isolated from all other players on any Xbox, PS5, Steam, Switch, Epic, or Windows, but also all others on a PS4 with it still on.
Obviously queue times doing that would be extreme. Hours waiting would happen.

Yeah I really wish dbd would add some form of verticality to the gameplay, like some kind of killer that can fly. I just put a concept for sinister invincible on the creations forum but his power there would need a lot of invisible walls to be removed. We have killers that can rush fast but none that can actually properly leave the ground.
@Langweilig said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3920571#Comment_3920571
I agree. I think draculas bat and vecnas fly ability should be able to actually fly instead of hovering. They could also allow kaneki to pull himself into the sky. This would be awasome. The only killers that can somewhat fly for a short time are kaneki and demo under the right conditions, but even they are forced to stay on the ground when they don‘t jump from a very high place.
They said recently their coding limits what they can do vertically for killer designs. Everything say above the height of the bats for example is top they can have apparently.

Right now, we can only hide the chat temporarily — but that’s just not enough. Sometimes you feel the urge to open it, thinking maybe someone said something nice — but 9 out of 10 times, it’s just straight-up toxicity. Other times, you simply forget to hide it, and boom — you're hit with pointless insults right after a stressful match.
I'm not asking for it to be removed entirely — just to give players the option to turn it off permanently. This way, we won't risk forgetting to disable it or fall for the illusion that maybe, this time, someone will say something decent rather than being toxic.
There’s no downside to this. Just a clean, simple quality of life improvement that would benefit everyone who wants a more chill experience.

A killer who is a mimic . It basically would resemble a random survivor until it comes within so many meters at which time it would revert back to original form.
The next idea is maybe adding some perks for killer and survivor that only become active at end game. (Similar to blood warden) but for survivors as well a few different types for killer and survivor.
Wouldn't comms just wreck any mimic?

I have exit lag. I can see what server I’m on in the lobby.
In that case, the only thing I can think of is there aren't enough players around your MMR to match with. Otherwise yeah that's bad.

Currently Twins is game breakingly bugged where you have a fairly high chance of latching onto a survivor and then never having your camera return to Charlotte, forcing you to either wait out the whole match or dc. What's the point of the killswitch if it's not being used on utterly game breaking things.
That's crazy. Even if they toss off Victor you are still stuck there with the surv?

In addition to any advantage a map gives one role, players also might be burning them up before the upcoming change to those offerings.

In my case, what I would keep from the old DBD was the lighting and the atmosphere of the maps. Bring back the heavy fog, the dense corn and nighttime Coldwind.

Don't forget pallet vacuum as well.
There were so many broken things in old DBD, but not all the things of old were bad either.- Ranks, and matchmaking that took this into account. (Before mid-2020 somewhere at least).
- Medkits with different effects, not just a dull speed increase.
- Loops outside of main structures were stronger. With so many good anti-loop killers in the game now, I think some of the old loops would make sense to implement back. Not the god-awful long-walls and infinites though.
- The old survivor animations.
And hooks permanently broken and being able to full heal after a pallet stun as well.

I will just say that I don't get the appeal of Blight.
His power is disorienting, even with the green aura add-on (albeit much less), he bumps into every pixel there is, and his turn rate is pretty limiting (unless you want to throw your mouse out of the window, then maybe lol).
And I know, I know, skill issue. But I don't get why people play him willingly. I just don't see the fun in that.
Try Blight with a controller sometime!

Another solution would be to lock out Epic accounts from the general player pool, and force the crossplay option to always be off for them.
It sucks for those who play legit on Epic, but that is the only real option to combat cheating, thanks to the hundreds of thousands of free accounts that were made when this was available.
Granted, there are cheaters on the Steam version as well, but it is not as widespread as it is on Epic, since the game has never been free on Steam.Wouldn't help hackers can inject themselves into any lobby, regardless of platforms or even CrossPlay on or off.

you don't need to be an expert to understand that the ps4 console was released in 2012 with really outdated hardware inside. look at the components of the same year of release. dbd was released in 2016 and took up only 3.5 gb on the hdd. cyberpunk by the way also tried to optimize the game for ps4, it turned out badly and dlc was eventually only available for ps5.
And yet my Xbox or those PS4 machines can run a far more demanding game like Red Dead 2 just fine....
-
@Falcao said:

but resolution has to do with rendering, not encoding.
I am by no means an expert, but from what we've been told there's a serious resource bottlenecking problem that is apparently insurmountable.
It's why they had to cut way back on fog and swaying grass and element effects. It's why they couldn't get the game to run at a steady 60fps on the prior gen consoles (and many lower-end PC's) despite those machines being capable of doing so. It's why even very strong PC's notice immense usage while running this game, and a PS4 sounds like a prop airplane taking off.
-
Worth testing out this suggestion.

@Falcao said:
You ask optimization, and some want 4k textures so that the game takes up 150+ gigabytes on the ssd. You ask for simpler textures, and some want to bring back fog and grass. If I were the dev, I would be confused
I think they would look at that list and be like "Can't with this code, we've tried... "

Are we going to restrict stealth killers to just indoor maps next?
We should bear in mind they sprinkle in some strong rng into their Tim Horton's every shift! 🤪

When the exit gate switches become available (either due to hatch being closed or due to 5 gens being completed), big bubbles revealing the exit gate switches appear for 12 seconds. On Survivor this mechanic is great. You get an one time info where the exit gates are, however you need to remember it.
On killer however this is just detrimental. You see the auras of the exit gate switches anyway so you don't need it. But, since the bubbles cover up pretty much everything, you cannot see if a Survivor is on that gate already. The only way to figure that out would be to get close enough to hear it, which is an enormous waste of time if no Survivor is there. On top of that since the bubbles last 12 seconds and the opening time (ignoring any perks) is 20 seconds, Survivors can get the gate more than halfway open without the Killer being able to see them.
Please remove the Bubble on the Killer side.
This mechanic is a legacy from DBD nine years back or so, one of those things unique and iconic to the game, very much like the sound we hear when a gen is popped or the gates powered. It's there to draw all players attention to an objective being completed, like a hook or sacrifice or a gen repaired.
As killer all of these can be visually disruptive. And I think that's the point, to obscure and focus on that objective being done. Long term players most likely aren't affected by it much, mainly used as information.
I wouldn't mind testing out it's removal for gates and for unhooks too.

I would love this effect. It would be so helpful on a lot of killers. A secondary effect could be if not too much:
- Grants the undetectable status effect while having bloodlust.
What do you think?

Would absolutely crush new players, who would never learn to loop or handle mind games
-
I wouldn't mind seeing a rough mini map overlay of all tiles and resources after the trial. Pallets broken and totems cleansed & gens done could be marked, could click on floors if there's multiple, which hooks survs were sacrificed on, a chalk outline if they bled out, etc.

Hard to say without seeing what happened in that trial. Three of them were CrossPlay to you, and I suppose they could have been in a SWF together? The other one was on your platform so I'm thinking they were solo for sure, running a heal build with that Autodidact etc.
Only one OTR and no DS, but the two flashlights are concerning. If I saw that lobby I'd would have considered Lightborn or maybe Franklin's. Maybe they were after Breakout plays and blinds? They all escaped, but how many hooks? I've never ran Wraith with that particular build how'd those perks work out? At Prestige 1 how often have you played that killer?
Without seeing the footage I can only guess.

@Memesis said:
I never see queue incentives for killer anymore. Even in the US West servers in the evening, survivor queue times are nearly instant. That was never the case even just 3 months ago. I know the new stats suggest solo queue is doing better than historically, but the player base appears more dissatisfied than ever.
Perhaps the blood generators can be introduced into the regular game, with new perks that interact only with them. Maybe experiment with some new exhaustion perks. Maybe make a perk that gives a close resemblance to old balance landing, as a lot of older players loved seeing that bug bring back that old function.
Obviously, these things need to be balanced, just spit balling. I hate waiting for killer queues, and playing survivor feels kind of boring lately.
Alternately you could play a few rounds of surv yourself to help with this directly, then go to killer.
-
Outside of the relatively rare achievement or trophy hunt, map offerings have for years been used to gain a large advantage to the role putting one up. As others have said, the imbalance of many maps is what drives these offerings to be used.
To squash that as been a long time coming, and in the long run worth this change. A side effect will be the loss of many killer-specific builds that relied on getting a particular map, with Myers obviously taking the brunt of it.

The BP incentives are supposed to be based on MMR (as is my understanding) so if you see 50% on Survivor, it means they need survivors AT YOUR SKILL LEVEL. I think.
But Killers are supposed to have separate MMR, so if you see 50% on Killer… is that just an average of how much your particular skill is needed across all the various killer MMRs you have? So could you wind up choosing to play a killer that actually ISN'T in demand (at your level) and wind up waiting a long time?
Seems like they could have separate incentives for each Killer. That way, if everyone wants to play Kaneki, there'd be incentive for some of us to play ANYONE ELSE and get some bonus BP. We could even have a "Downvote" system, where you indicate which ~3 killers you'd LEAST like to play against, and they could adjust the incentives accordingly. (It wouldn't guarantee you'd never face those killers, but it would be a tool to encourage people to play with more variety.)
I've never heard of the BP bonuses being tied to anyone's MMR before, that's interesting. I always thought they pull your MMR when matchmaking begins, and that's why you cannot swap killers in the lobby. News to me.

Very interesting stats.
My big take away is how different the numbers are from Nightlight. In the past when stats have come out with a few notable exceptions the numbers where usually pretty close. That's not true anymore with Nightlight having kill rates well below BHVR's stats.
We have to remember that Nightlight is data from matches uploaded from individual players themselves, and not a global representation. That alone opens it up to players picking what info to post or not. But it goes behind that flaw.
The mindset of such players must be taken into account, as it is only used by the sweatier crowd. It also is only in English, and no consolers would be using it either. Tiny sample size indeed.
All of this is why its stats don't always match up with the dev's info, just shows incomplete trends mainly. The best example has always been Self Care.
Whenever they post perk usage it always is top ten overall, but Nightlight does not reflect that. Despite being regarded as a weak perk in the NA and Europe regions it's a staple of the Asian region for example, whose playstyle is drastically different, plus its free to obtain and new player friendly. You need a global reach to see what's really happening overall and in the average trial.
Nightlight might be all we got, but it is flawed.

Which is why i said it needs an update and should have been in the quality of life update. We know there’s about to be an influx of new players so i don’t think queue times would be that much affected anyways. if i was new player and seen how the blocked “list” works, why would i want to play the game? Being forced into matches with survivors/killers i don’t want to play with isn’t fun and ruins the quality of the game.
It's also about the amount of abuse a true blocking system would be open to.
If say a Nurse player is ridiculously good they'd be blocked into oblivion and never get a trial again. Same with super good Blights or whatever. Or if any player uses a playstyle that someone disapproves of. Of if a surv is going after adept David and is repeatedly running No Mither etc. again all blocked badly.
