Give killers who decide to go against the team a multiplier of 3 or 4 earned blood points
I don't think that would be enough

Maybe. Maybe not. We would't know for sure unless they tried it.
Say they try it. What killer would knowingly queue up for anything other than solos? How would any SWF get a single trial?
I know what killers making that choice implies. But I also am looking at the practical side of how would it actually function.
-
@KhrisCo said:
I've always thought it would be a good idea to have a queue that is solo queue only. So you can choose to not go against an organized team on comms.
Splitting the players like that would most likely destroy queue times and hurt matchmaking badly. With something around half of all survs in at least a two-man SWF it would be a nightmare.

I apologize for not writing for a long time, I had a high workload at work. In essence, you repeated what I said about console players underreporting statistics, just in more detail. But I remain of the opinion that the ability to play in a team is a cancerous tumor of the game, breaking the already fragile balance
No apologies needed. I appreciate the discourse nonetheless

Wouldn't this make the issue much worse? If players could pick and choose their server, wouldn't many killers pick one on the far side of the moon purposely for extreme pings!

I wonder how current players would react to BNP and Toolboxes as they were 5-6 years back. 🤔

I mean at this point I would like to see them do the whole game in C++ then Blueprints sprinkled in…. but who am I???
Buy them, then have the game recoded from scratch.
Once that's done so many cool things could be added, like a thorough optimization and a match replay system.

Maybe you was playing survivor and the killer was doing really well but you an the team knuckled down the killer made one mistake an you got 3 or 4 out the gate
Maybe you was playing killer you messed up you had like 1 hook by the time the gens were done it was pretty much a guaranteed 4 man escape if they did the save correctly but they not only messed up the save some how 3 or 4 of them died.
Whenever survs get overly bent on getting everyone out once the gens are done, but then the trading and poor attempts at bodyblocking get three or even four of them killed.

i think what hurts slinger is his lack of map pressure more than anything and idk how you can fix that
I'd also love to see him 4.6 but i think that'd make him a bit oppressive
they should honestly make him 24m terror radius again he needs the surprise ability due to how slow he is.
Yeah if he moved that speed he'd be more obnoxious at zoning than can be now. Slinger indeed feels outdated and his overall map pressure has always been poor. But knowing how to tinker with him is not easy, as others have said.
A slight bump to his reload might allow players to use another add-on besides running reload every trial. Too much here though, or returning his ads speed, again makes him miserable to go against. Hmmmmm ponder ponder ponder.....

This is one of those "better in the long run" changes that will make general balancing easier and allow individual perks to have stronger effects when created. Clown will most likely feel it the worst among all killers.

No do not say go to FAQ to find the solution that doesn't work. I want to know how I can solve it since yes I have dbd on steam but I haven't played it in years since it ran poorly on my PC. Someone said play a bit on steam to give your account progress but that doesn't work either and it's not connected to any other account I made a throw away dbd account to test it and it connected to steam super easily so what am I supposed to do?
Edit: Used a throw away account again and it linked completely fine and I unlinked it to see maybe it would work now but nope.
The only other thing I can think of is the account you are trying to link came from the family sharing that Steam killed off last year maybe?

If we believe your statement, then when playing as a killer on Steam, lobbies should prevail where all the survivors are from other platforms, but there is almost always at least 1 survivor from Steam, but most often 2. That is, at least 40-60% of players are from Steam. Or your statement is correct, but matchmaking tries to select players from one platform. Also, please do not underestimate players from EGS and XBOX (PC), after all, many have been playing the first since the free copy, and in the second it is available for free with a subscription. Well, and a small amendment that crossplay was added in 2020, not 2018
Appreciate the correction for 2020.
What a particular player sees in their lobbies will vary depending on day, time of day, MMR, matchmaking, and especially region. Europe and around Russia are PC heavy, while in Asia and the Americas there's way more on one of the consoles.
As players climb in MMR that platform diversity lessens as the players with the more serious mindset tend to be on a PC. Those on console as a general rule are more casual, much more likely to be on the couch across from a TV as opposed to face to face with an excellent monitor and filters and an awesome headset etc.
All of this will effect what you'd see in a lobby.

Firstly, where did you get the information that it was 70%? Secondly, if it is true, then this is further confirmation that the statistics do not work and console players have underestimated the data. Thirdly, I am talking about PCs, not consoles.
They cannot ever release player numbers for the consoles, not for this or any other CrossPlay game. This is due to the various UEA's for Microsoft and Sony and Nintendo.
But for estimates, the PlayStations make up the largest portion say 26% roughly. Next is Steam and Xbox at something like 22%, and then there's Switch after that. The numbers for Windows and Epic have never been too strong for this game, and Stadia is long dead now.
I'm not sure what you mean by "underestimated the data" at all. But it doesn't make sense to not include console numbers as DBD is a full CrossPlay game since like 2018, with almost none of its players having CrossPlay turned off.

The problem is not in losing, but in toxicity, instead of running away right away, you need to drag out time, drink tea and do other things that are not related to the game
Wait, what? Altogether console make up like 70%+ of the playerbase. Of course they're included. Just trials with a DC are thrown out.

And how is it balanced if when playing in a team, the survivors have almost a 90% chance of surviving in four?
The last time the devs put out survival rates even the top MMR four-mans globally did not escape half the time.
-
@Rokku_Rorru said:
As the title says,
A lot of the issues I find when playing against SWF's is the stacking of perks, usually where Meta comes from, do you think this could be a place to force people to play different roles within a team and diversify matches?I think repeated perks are only really difference makers when four survs who are supremely excellent at the game quad up. They also attempt to tilt the odds further in their favor by running the strongest items, utilize comms very well, plus throw on map offerings, which will be dealt with later this year it looks like.
These groups are also the rarest of the rare four-mans, which in turn are the rarest of surv groups. They still with such advantages do not escape half the time, and the game obviously is not balanced around them either, being the tiniest portion of the global players.
So now we're talking about limiting perk choice based on what's possible for the smallest group of survs. If the devs have made one thing perfectly clear over the years it's that they wish players to run what they like in either role, and will (perhaps not quickly enough at times) make changes should outrageous combinations be found.

We’ve all had rough games but have you ever had matches where you couldn’t get a single hook? It’s probably a rare occurrence but I’m just asking out of curiosity.
Oh yes, many times trying to learn Nurse back in 2018. I gave her a go for weeks and weeks, and lots of those attempts absolutely had zero hooks. Mostly I couldn't ever get comfortable with her with the controller, but a teeny tiny part of the issue was the two or three (hundred) bugs that infested her. Mostly me though.

i really appreciate BHVR acknowledging 180 flicks on Oni and turning them into a basekit feature, i was even happy when i saw the patch notes.
However, as soon as i hopped into the few custom matches to test his flicks i was literally disappointed.
Oni's 180 atm aren't flicks anymore, they are just slow and clunky U-turns that are very easily avoidable.
On top of everything, most popular types of flicks, Lipy and 1-frame flicks are also not possible anymore due to this change.
Look, i understand wishing to equalize k+m and controller players, but this is not it, this is just turning up the cap so that console players can now also turn full 180 while not experiencing actual 180 flicks at all.
My suggestion is: revert changes to 180s you made in PTB and now in live patch and just tweak the stick sensitivity on controllers so that console players can also actually flick. The way Oni current is completely killed him as character.
(unless current live changes were made because BHVR didn't know how to fix the mess they made in PTB so they just went with upping the cap)
The issues with tinkering with controllers for DBD is the lack of response curves and acceleration options for those sticks, and more pronounced input delay than other even more demanding games.
Plus the biggest problem is a few years back they doubled the sensitivity of the controllers and then pronounced that's it that's the limit of what they can do. It's painfully obvious this game was never intended to use anything else than M&K, yet we have most of the playerbase on the consoles without that support until sometime later this year. So for about 8 years on controller, and I doubt many will move to M&K even if they have one.
As with so much in DBD it goes back to how this game was originally coded. My guess is they know all that and are instead are trying changes that improve controller use, with the unhappy but unavoidable side-effect of messing with existing M&K as well.

Try avoiding it with a controller 🎮 🤣

With the plans to add quality of life features it seems like the perfect time to add reconnecting to the game. There have been plenty of features added to punish DC's with no apparent consideration for people who just have dodgy internet. It'd be nice to be able to stop losing bloodpoints and archive progress over brief internet cut outs that would be inconsequential in most modern multiplayer games due to a feature that's strangely absent in DBD.
Last I heard adding this is near impossible now (just like a match replay) and would requir a complete recoding of the game from scratch. Which won't happen sadly.

I've seen plenty of KR/JP streams and it never really stroke me that survivor players were playing much more "seriously", really. I think a lot of differences in opinions mostly stems from the fact that almost everybody in Japan plays on controller/console and has good ping (below 35) and that because of it the average killer player is significantly weaker than the average survivor player in public matches over there. There's simply no other reasonable justification for not putting old Chucky in anything but S tier
Interesting. What would you rate Chucky or Singularity with a controller?

Well perhaps given the tendancy of unbalanced matches to snowball to an unwinnable state within the first 3 minutes. And given the prevalence of survivors to not want to go through the motions once a match is in such a state. Might we want to consider that what the players SAY they want, and what their ACTIONS would demonstrate they won't tolerate demonstrate different preferences? Maybe we should allow an extra 30 seconds to get a remotely close backfill candidate to avoid such steamroll matches where possible?
I agree that could help, but good luck getting enough support for it. The wait times for events and especially the 2v8 have left a bad taste in most killer's mouths lately. It's also probably why split ranked/casual areas couldn't work either, as someone above brought up.
Removing Prestiges helped some, however I'd like to see tested out some form of locked lobbies, and watch how it affects matchmaking quality. Their system does its thing, items and cosmetics are still visible, but no leaving or clicking on profiles. Give enough time for players to adjust to it and everything even out some.
But I think we're too impatient for either of our ideas to happen. 😕

Backfill is a separate issue and should have been fixed years ago to pull from accurate mmr range instead of the next available player
Perhaps, but the problem is each and every time this community is asked whether it wants quality matchmaking or faster queues the resounding answer is always queue times.
Their matchmaking system gets one (maybe two) chances for fair-ish trials, but as people wait it widens the acceptable range until as you said it just grabs a player.

Mandy, as a Treacherous Crows main let me assure you...I would sooner have 5 entire lobbies dodge if it meant having a team that'd tolerate Invocations than chance my 1st team giving up immediately and going next or running the killer to basement on purpose because they despise my perk.
People running killers into basement to spite me is worse than any queue times
The issue with lobby dodging isn't what it does to queue times, it's the awful effects on matchmaking and the devastating backfills.
-
I haven't seen a single player supporting this change, nor have I read the reasoning for it anywhere. Unless this change is necessary for some coding reason it should be reverted.

@Choaron said:
So many problems would have been avoided if this game never did release on console.
If the game was never ported onto the consoles in 2017 I doubt it would have exploded as it did and retained it's player count at all.
It took the early content creators and getting Myers to make it pop huge on Steam, but things like Dedicated Servers and all the licenses that came after needed expansion, and that meant getting it onto console. Players forget how long the queue times grew before CrossPlay was added as well.
Now how they handled that porting can and should be scrutinized, but it was necessary. Among many other things, M&K support should have come with CrossPlay. That alone prevents many of these future messy discussions, but at least it's now coming sometime this year.
No way this game makes it to almost a decade only on Steam.

This is where I feel the absence of old BBQ & Chile. That unique hook BP bonus passively served as anti-direct tunneling. I and most other killers would go out of our way to get those stacks, and the aura read showed you where to go next. Everyone and everything was less efficient back then, so the killer could usually still draw or better while doing it. We've lost something fun in search of optimal play. 😔

Maybe they should keep controllers in mind more often while crafting killer powers, as most of the players have to use them and have been doing so since 2017.

ONI's flicks are dead.
I already wrote a post earlier, on the BHVR website, about flicks that were turned out, there was a bug on PTB and developers agreed that they won’t touch Oni, and this bug will not be released on the main servers. And the fact that they released it anyway but with changes.
The ONI update can be described in the following words:for people who did not know how to play it, this killer became stronger and more interesting, because ignorant people were given the opportunity to do what they could not do before.
But for "knowledgeable" players, everything works the other way around. They took away from us what we had been learning for a long time, thereby devaluing our wasted time and work.
Many will say: "after all, this is another bug that was fixed like all the others"
Guys, this "bug" has existed in the game almost since the release of ONI, and in 6 years, it has become an integral part of the gameplay for both ONI and Against him.
BHVR's mission was to "equate" players with Controller and PC, but they don't understand that there will NEVER be "equality" between these platforms anyway.
I think the best solution to this problem would be to "adding a new update for ONI" ONLY for controllers. The new mechanics seem to be specifically designed for them.
BUT for pc players, it should be back to how it was before.
The current state of ONI can only be described as "deplorable"Now a little about me
I have been ONImain since 2020.
For the past two years, I have only logged into the game to play on ONI and make "wonder flicks" on it. This thing was the only thing that made me play this and all those negative emotions that I received from New updates, new idiotic maps, new survivor perks, and everything else. They were insignificant, because I knew that I had a favorite character, on whom I could have fun in this way. (yes, I agree, the character remained, I still love him, but he no longer brings me pleasure)
Now the developers took away my "toy" that kept me from leaving the game.
And there is nothing holds me back, I have decided for myself that until they return what I loved, I will never enter to this game. I am not ready to forgive the developers for depriving me of fun and devaluing more than 2000 hours that I spent on this killer.
So now you understand the seriousness of what is happening. I have been playing dbd since 2017 and not once during this time have I seriously had such thoughts.Dear ONImains and ONI enjoyers, let's unite to spread the word and do everything to get the full character back.СвернутьHow could they have an update only for one input device but not another?

This is to help those of you trying to do this achievement as it isnt super clear what you need to do.
So for a perfect grab, once you tentacle grab a survivor for the damage state, you'll see a lil button pop up right before (LMB on pc). Hit it at the right time and it'll be a perfect grab. You'll know from the broken piano sound upon hit.
Also general blood moon event tips for killer: don't run gen regression perks since they don't really impact the blood gens. go full blitz and chase perks. As Kaneki I went lethal, bbq, brutal, and i forgot my last perk. I think it was floods of rage. I usually have everyone on death by the time 2 gens are done this way. and DO NOT tunnel or camp. its an event. relax a lil.
All of this is far too reasonable and helpful a post. Are you sure you're on the right forum? 😜🤣
