I agree, Freddy and Doc drop FPS by existing.
Sloppy Butcher has crashed my game before as Survivor
Sloppy being applied and Exposed popping up have to be the two frame drop triggers I've dealt with the longest. Literally been in the game for years.
-
An update on that goal of 60fps for all platforms from spring '19.
A full and thorough optimization
-
Yasssssssss @Pulsar get itttttttttttt
-
If premades were indicated in the lobby they would be dodged each and every time, no incentives would work imo, and they'd never ever get a game.
Can't swap killers as it's tied into the MMR tracking (on a side note surve being able to swap around their stuff there is also kinda bs) so that can't be changed unfortunately.
Indicating a SWF after a game I'm ok with, even knowing the "heated discussions" that would likely follow.

Autohaven wrecker legit wrecks my fps all the time on both sides, bgs, and optimization problems are really in dire need of some fixing.
Elements of all the reworked maps drop frames on console. When the new Lery's came out I thought it looked wonderful. Then I went into the center room, and with so much going on there fps tank. Killers like Doc and Freddy are harsh to play there because of the drops.

Honestly, grabs feel awful for everyone. On the killer side, it feels like you constantly get stunned because you tried to M1 someone and the game decided to go for a grab, and then decided to cancel its grab, and then you were just standing there. On the survivor side, it feels like you sometimes get grabbed when you already cancelled your action or vaulted. The outcome literally feels random from both sides.
This sums it up nicely. I've practiced the timing with my Amanda Panda and have it down pretty good, but the surv really has to not be paying attention and they are far from consistent

I'll be surprised if it's anything more than nothing
How is it possible that porting this game over to console was the best and worst decision all at the same time?
Pretty please devs, show us all how much this concerns you with something substantial, a plan, a timeline, hope, anything. Or tell us it aint coming so we can go.

Will we ever be able to transfer our DbD profile to another system? I'd love to play on my PC instead of my console but I've spent so much money on my cosmetics (plus gotten Rift exclusive unlocks) that I can't bring myself to leave it behind. In truth the only reason I even still have a console is for this game. 😂
I don't know how hard that'd be, if it's something that's been discussed, if it's impossible, etc.
Depends on your platform. Stadia players can already do this, and I believe Switch is nearly there, so anytime soon.
If you mean Xbox/PlayStation to PC, then yeah the devs know this is wanted by the community but there's no timeframe nor any guarantee it'll ever happen.

An hour of silence. Add it to the years I guess.
I don't really know how, and it don't make a lick of sense, but somehow opening the forum dropped frames on my DBD. And I'm not even playing right now. Strange.

Well then should we try tagging Mandy or somebody?
I have no doubt this large af thread has been read by most if not all of the mods here, and maybe a dev.
I'd imagine nothing has been said because there is no update to give us, and that if true would perhaps be the saddest most disappointing response we could get.

Oh, I didn't mean that response would be OK, just that is what I predict it will be if we start tagging them. I totally agree those responses are not OK. At this point they're completely brush off meaningless responses. They need to either say "Nope, not going to happen" or actually start pushing out optimization patches because it's not like we haven't listed exact triggers for them to work on.
The only serious trigger I recall no longer being an issue was when chests were updated, so simply searching one would likely kill someone struggling on hook. Moot now with the change to the struggle mechanic.
The long long list of triggers largly remains, and every patch seems to spawn a few more. The very nice looking fire barrel update was one i noticed immediately, dropping frames to below Blight's old bellybutton.
-
Hard to fathom why widely-known frame drop triggers like Sloppy or Exposed or whatever have been in the game for years and years.

Well, the game being the exact same game for years does contribute to it not being as enjoyable as it was before, so I thought I would add this to the discussion.
Because out of anything that has been highly requested from survivors and killers it's another game mode.
Oh i agree other game modes, in particular a thorough tutorial and some form of "try out a killer", would be epic, this thread is mostly about the game's performance on console these days and into the future. Especially the prior gen machines, and certain unfilled goals with them, plus a fustrating lack of communication about it.

“why haven't you improve the console experience”
To be honest, the last update included changes to make Blight much more viable with a controller, kind of a side benefit to console.
I do see the tiny baby steps here and there that do help consolers out, i really do. But the pace is agrivating and the communication surrounding console very fustrating.

Please Note that Everything stated in here IS NOT an insult or an attack meant to Behaviour, The Dev team, Nintendo, or anyone stated in this thread. This thread is simply to give feedback and the suggestion for an higher frame rate on the Nintendo Switch system. I have bought My Nintendo Switch Device in 2017 and Dead by Daylight last December and ever since that day i started completely putting time into the game. I gained lots of perks, bloodpoints, characters, cosmetics (Including items from the last rift) and much more. I usually played as an survivor and in the end sometimes more as an killer, but i played enough on both sides to gain as much as the on the other. However, then, update after update, the Frame Rates got worse. At the start, it wasnt completely smooth with the Frame rate, but it was quite playable. But now, it got so unplayable that the game on the Nintendo Switch Systen isnt even fun to play anymore. I will list down below the issues i have encountered and which ruin the game experience for me:
-Frame Rate and Fps: While being in the lobby of the game, everything is completely smooth, there are not much bugs and everything is working as it was supposed to. However, when being in a game with each Survivors and Killers. The Frame rate is getting very unstable. When chasing a survivor or getting chased by the killer, most of the times, the frame rate goes completely down which is obviously absouloutely horrible since the game is playing online and even one simple mistake can give the killer enough of an oppurtunity to easily down the survivor or for the killers, loose the chase with an survivor. At first i made the conclusion that my system was older and therefore the game maybe runs this poorly because of my device's age, but while i was watching some diffrent youtube videos with other players playing on the system, i shortly noticed that i wasnt the only one with frame rate problems on my Nintendo switch device and that almost anyone who owns an switch and plays Dead by Daylight has these frame rate problems. During the last update it got an tiny bit better, howver, its still not stable enough to get out of the killers chases or get survivors in my opinion.
-Costumes and charms: When wearing any costumes, for example: Feng mins "Lady Defiant" costume, (Which i own) or for example: The spirits "Top Student" costume (Which i, also own) the Frame rate gets an step more unstabler than before and its getting more hard to play the game. The only things i can let my survivors or killers wear a the moment are either the prestiged clothes (Presitged bloody Torso's especially) with only an diffrent head from another costume and diffrent downer parts or the default characters clothes so the frame rate stays a bit more stable. I cannot usually wear any of my normal outfits or charms because if i do the frame rate will be painfully lowered and therefore the game gets more unplayble than before.
-Looking into diffrent Directions: Sometimes, when the frame rate is already at an low point, objects can dissapear when looking into another direction and for 1-3 seconds and completely white image in that direction is shown until it then dissapears again. For Killers, this happens more especially and this also was one issue i have stated in the "Bug Report" section but which never had to got any attention. The issue is that (This happened most of the times in the "Hawkins labaratory map") The Killer looks into another direction, the objects in this direction dissapear (like with the Survivors) but the character models of the survivors are still there. For example: An survivor was hiding inside an locker and due to the objects dissapearing, i knew the exact location of that survivor in the locker and could use that bug as my advantage. Which i didnt and ignored but which still occured.
I Beg you to please fix this and make the game playable on the Nintendo Switch System again, even if the graphic settings have to be lowerd to another point. Im not really familiar with coding or developing a game but i saw this at another game on my system (If not used already.) where when entering a new area, everything in an limited area was rendering the textures of the objects etc. but when leaving that area and entering a new one, everything in the new are was rendered meanwhile the old are was dissrendered to spare the performance and to get an smoother frame rate. However, i do not know the complexety of Dead by Daylight, neither do i know whats possible and what is not, therefore, i will not spread false and useless info on this thread.
Hello Switch cousin! I had assumed y'all probably have the toughest experience with DBD performance-wise, but wow just wow.
My Xbox1 has always had issues running this game well, particularly after many matches in a row, but never have I seen a surv hiding in a locker and the locker visual itself removed. Absolutely insane!
We all would benefit so much from a good thorough optimization, across all platforms.

Do the following:
1. Close the game after it happened.
2. Windows Key + R
4. %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\DeadByDaylight\Saved\Logs - Enter this and press enter
4. Look for the file called "Deadbydaylight.log"
If if occurred the last time you played, it should be the latest Deadbydaylight.log. If happened prior to the last time you played and close the game, it will be an archived log.
Dimek beat me to it! haha
And for console? We peasants ain't gotz no logs besides dem trees over thar...

Exactly. Balance is a harsh mistress and balancing a game like DbD is always precarious, hard and a work in progress. Suddenly trying to buff Solo up to match SWF is a massive undertaking and not really possible short of giving Solo exactly the same Comms. That runs into lots of obstacles:
- Not everyone is comfortable talking to total strangers (for a variety of reason).
- Talk between strangers (not friends) often has explosive, undesirable consequences.
- It would be even more demanding on systems to have it internalized into the code.
- It would further increase the complexity of the Spaghetti code.
- Talking to other Solos does not, in of itself, provide the coordination that regular play with friends does. They would have to play with the same Solos to develop the trust and sense of camaraderie to get the same results, and at that point aren't they just a SWF and no longer Solo?
In short, there is no way whatsoever to buff Solo to match the competitive edge that playing regularly with friends (on Comms) provides. All you would get for trying is losing all sense of balance as the entire system recoils from the shock of the changes. Imagine the changes to so many Perks that would happen, and how Killers would have to be evaluated all over again. Everything we know about balance would change overnight. It is throwing the baby out with the bathwater.
However, simply unlocking an extra Perk slot for Killers when (and ONLY when) they face a 3+ SWF is a rough balancing act that in no way impacts Solo or requires everything to be rethought. It is something easily done to be tested. Would it exactly equate to the competitive edge SWF have? It is impossible to know, as it is untested potential. Not all SWF are great even with the "potential" competitive edge. Not all Killers, even with another Perk, would be better. They would merely have greater potential. I think the best we can hope for in this situation an escalation within the limited framework. The only other option is to split Solo Queues and Team Queues up so they can be balanced individually, and that is something they will never due because both Queues would slow down. No matter how you look at it, the best solution always comes back to the most direct, simple one. Buff Killers but ONLY when they face SWF. Don't change any basic powers or Perks, just add one Perk Slot to offset the 5th Perk (Comms) that SWF enjoy.
RIP to that rando who unknowingly joined a 3-man and now would face a killer running 5 perks. Sucks to be them...

Curious question (not intended to start an us vs. them):
Are any of the Whisperers on console? I seem to remember hearing there was one on PS4, the rest on PC, and none anywhere else.
For getting the Whisperers codes and cells and such it makes a bit of sense, and like going through Steam for example. But it also seems unbalanced given the size of the various playerbases to me, representation wise.

Optimization is not existed for this game I believe. I can play the games that I only meet min req. But not DBD, on well above rec req. and on low quality.
I said goodbye to ultra settings, when they upgraded their engine. Ever since I literally upgraded my PC every year, and still can't keep up with the game. Still on low and still getting frame drops.
And the funny thing is they claim they are trying to be budget friendly. So is this them trying, forcing me to upgrade system to play their game on a regular base? Each update, each map gets worse and worse. Don't they care about losing players who can't simply keep up with system requirements. That is insane.
Appreciate the input from a PCr, and sorry you also have had to deal with similar problems.

I know this has been spoken about previously but is there any plan for cross platform progression, the reason I ask is because I recently started playing on PC from Xbox, on Xbox I bought all killers up until trickster from then I've been playing on PC, having to basically start fresh, I don't see the point in buying anything if I have to ######### depending on platform and so I'm stuck right now, and it's not good considering I'm quite excited for the Resident evil chapter which I don't know if I should buy because I don't know the future of the game. so if there is any new information about when cross progression may come out can anyone give me an update?

I've seen PC players that switched from console to PC talk about how much of a difference it is and how rough it has been when they've hopped back on to console but I've yet to see someone that only plays PC give the game a shot on console just to see the difference.
Wish they would, be a real eye-opener I bet!

Man it looks like you're internet is trash
It's not the connections. Please, borrow a friend's PS4 or whatever and start DBD. Embrace the frame freezes during the first menu screen. Bask in the drops should you complete a lvl50 bloodweb and start another. Enjoy another drop when you back out of that.
Now my friend, now you are ready to play console killer.
How about Doc? Head on into Lery's, and move to the center room. Static Blast please, and spin to find those filthy dirty survivors. What? Can barely turn the camera? How odd. Must be those dang new fangled internets again.
Somehow you find a surv and shock away at em, getting that madness up. Now you're close enough to lunge for a hit.... but just then Bloodlust 1 triggers and you only take a little bit of paint off the wall...
That's just Doctor. Demo's shred attack freezes the game; gen pops near you, frame drops occur; you apply Sloppy, more drops; surv Sprint Bursts away, drops; Freddy pretty much anything, drops; Myers tiers up, drops; Exposed is triggered, drops; Exhausion, drops; and so many more.
Other larger & far more demanding titles don't cause the problems DBD can. They promised us 60fps, my Xbox1x struggles for 30, and can dip into the teens at times, especially indoors. It's just this game.
Do the experiment. Find out for yourself.

So many killers powers hurts console players instead of helping them. I'm curious of stats for killers between console and pc. Like what is the difference in performance between them. How many on console rarely use the killers powers to avoid FPS drops. How often do killer miss hits/lose chases when bloodlust kicks in.
How can you properly balance a killer when console platforms experience performance issues that directly impact the killers.
And it bleeds into the queue time problem as well. Fewer consolers playing killer means a larger % of them playing survivor compared to PC, where playing both and/or maining killer is much more common.
Evening out the performance differences would benefit all players on every platform. Am I the only one who thinks so?

Agreed.
The vague brush off responses we get when not being flat out ignored is part of why when I do finally get a ps5 I'm not bothering installing DBD. Why install a 5 year old game that ignored the issues when there wasn't a new generation of console available? History will probably repeat as issues pop up on ps5/Xbox series x.
If they were atleast honest about their plans, or rather lack of plans, for ps4/Xbox one I'd respect that. If they had said they realized they weren't going to be able to optimize ps4/Xbox one like they promised but would make sure ps5/Xbox series x would receive more attention to prevent performance issues getting as bad as they are on last gen I would be happy that they acknowledged the issues and would be more willing to install when I get a ps5.
I get they want to avoid backlash, but they're losing players anyway by not addressing the performance issues.
I agree. At this point I'd like to hear something like "We know we set a goal of 60fps minimum for all platforms, but we underestimated the difficulties of achieving that goal with the last gen consoles and our planned improvements. As it turned out, these graphical updates here and those design choices over there, etc. proved to be beyond being consistently run on them..."
Because that's what I think happened, with a full & proper optimization no longer possible. And to avoid pissing off such a huge chunk of the playerbase they opted for silent running. A bandaid basically.
