I also appreciate our PC cousins adding their support to the cause, and relating their own experiences as well. Thank all of you that have stopped by and contributed! :)
By now I think we all know resolving these problems benefits everybody who plays this game, no matter where they do. We are in this together gamers!!

Haven't been able to do this with a controller, even on max sensitivity. He is a bit easier to control since the changes, but still feels janky to me and slides off of the weirdest things, most of them low & out of sight.
Maybe I need to practice him more, but although better he still feels somewhat uncontrollable on Xbox1.

Check your hard drive there might be a problem with it.
Free up disk space, rebuild the database.
The most important one keep it clean, open it up and clean it out.
But then again I'm might also be another luckily one.
How would I do any of that to my xbox?

It isn't one of their priorities or else we would have seen any improvements or info since they talked about 60 FPS on all plattforms back in early 2019
This. I have been begging for an update about this goal of 60fps minimum across all platforms for forever now.
If what they've added or changed to the game has made it no longer possible to meet that goal, I'd very much like to be told so, what platforms & why.
Entity knows we all have listed off the triggers & situations for the lag spikes and studders etc. for years now, so recreating the issues should be easliy done. Devs: what else can we do to help y'all in this?

Even if they did have $1k for a gaming pc mine was like £1.5k+ and can't run the game on Ultra (fullscreen, 144fps) without some stuttering 😬😬😬
Re2make? NiNoKuni 4k Remaster? REVillage? Cyberpunk? Consistently high frames and settings.
😬😬
If you're having trouble running this game on a very decent PC, what hope is there for us consolers???

I'm getting really tired of the lag and frame rate drops when the smallest thing happens in game. A perk activates, someone gets hooked, I turn the camera slightly to the left, doesn't matter. The game lags at the most inconvenient times, especially during a chase. It really screws me up and causes me to get down. Please, do something about this.
Yes I agree please optimize this game for the consoles. That goal from March 2019 to get all platforms running DBD at minimum 60 frames would be appreciated too.
To the OP's comment about not having a thousand dollars for a gaming PC, even if ya did remember there's no Cross Progression so you'd also have to rebuy the game, dlc's you wish to have, and any wanted cosmetics, plus regrind all characters from lvl 1. Not many players with thousands of hours and lots of $$ already into this game are likely to do all that again.
-
I bodyblock a killer often to break up a tunnel or try to defend a teammate who's on death hook. And neither examples are reportable.
-
I've said this before, but porting this game on over to console was at once the best and worst decision they've made.
I will not blame anyone who choses to stop playing out of fustration and a deep feeling of being unheard & left behind. Go put your time & support into a game you enjoy and wish to get behind. This gaming stuff was supposed to be fun, rememeber?
In other news, hi @Darkskies :)

does anyones frame rate die when they get lerys or midwich? those maps are the worst for me
Lery's, especially the central room, tank frames for my Xbox1x into the teens, even worse if I'm going against a Doc or Freddy. When that rework came out I loved the look and constantly wished it would come up. Now i want that map to quietly crawl into a bush somewhere and die, and take Midwich and Hawkins with it.
-
The survs can be skins all day, but killers without their various powers this game woulda died long long ago
-
No one gets bloodpoints for a match that never started, even if you load in and do a sixth of a gen or a totem before the game figures it out and tosses everyone.
-
At the start I'll do one if I see it on my way to a gen, otherwise I'll wait until Detective's let's me know where they are. Then I plan my route to a near-totem gen, keeping in mind preventing a three-gen as well.
As others have said it's better to cleanse them when you have the game relatively in hand. Gens have priority.

Question for you veterans who have been here since the very beginning.
It’s been so long I forgot what it feels like to have proper hit registration.
In my 1400 or so hours the killer has always been 3-4 feet closer that they visually appear, and even closer when vaulting, in both roles. That's what the latency does for me.

I think Pig needs less RNG traps and her base kit should be brought up to the level of Combat Straps and Video Tape so she can have a better anti loop ability. Pigs that use their dash a very fun to go against especially if they use those add ons.
Those as base would be nice yes, and maybe move her roar forward a lil in her ambush too. But it's her very inconsistent traps that are the biggest drawback.
I've seen others say there should always be 5 boxes to search instead of 4 at base. Besides requiring two add-ons to change for that (tbh she badly needs an add-on pass anyway) I feel such a change would actually be oppressive depending on the map layout, and Tampered would make it worse.
I've also seen others mention changing the odds on searching the boxes to something closer to Trapper's change, where the first box is quite unlikely to be the correct one, the next search a bit more likely, and so on. This one i feel better about.
But a common complaint about the Pig is her purposely camping a surv & box (or bodyblocking it) and of course throwing the match for that one head pop. So a power change needs to somehow address this as well.
My own crazy ass change would be once you find the correct key the surv must spend a lot of time unlocking their headgear, or drop it and another surv can do it almost instantly. This makes logical sense to me as attempting to remove it yourself would be quite nerve-racking while another might be calmer and therefore more efficient with it. And this ties up two survs from objectives much like Sloppy for healing speed does. Franklin's would be a problem though.... but I still dig the concept.
-
Rarely seeing him in red ranks, EST US. As far as playing him, although he's much more viable with a controller now his collision is much worse and slides off of the strangest of objects. Throw in the usual frame drops on Xbox and he is just too janky and unfun.
-
Not enough boopin of snoot if ya ask me
-
Of course it shouldn't be allowed, but I see no practical way they could enforce it, let alone know it's going on very easily. Unless the stretcher is putting out vids or streaming while doing it, there'd be no evidence to submit.
It's kinda like third party comms, they cannot do much about it at all.

I remember Otzdarva posted a comment on DBD's official YT channel asking the devs not to leave console players in the dark with the graphical updates. He commented on one of the realm beyond videos.
In the latest killer tier list Otz has put out he prefaced it by saying he only considered the PC version of the game, and went into a short statement why.
When this video came out a month ago I commented on it asking Otz to expand on why PC only and offered up my Xbox1x for testing. Sadly neither happened.
I believe he is a Fog Whisperer, as are several of the big DBD content creaters out there, and like the mods on this forum they very likely have been coached in what to say & not say when it comes to console optimization and the overall performance experience difference. My opinion of course.

not that it would help anyway but has a big dbd streamer ever talked or acknowledged the abysmal console optimization?
A few years back TydeTyme gave it a go on a PS4. I watched him play Hag in the corn, and pronounced it "both gross and disgusting."
Puppers used to play (Fridays I think) with viewers also on PS4 but abandoned that a year back.
In the last two weeks I've noted both Jund and Tru (best friends these days I see) have called out frame drops as they happen to their fancy dancy PCs.
Hope abounds for us consolers with all that happening...

I do not know if the developers ever thought that making a new queue to play with friends could make the killers who play the game with another thought and not that of WIN, we could face people from SOLOQ and not SWF.
Who today likes to face a premade of 4? I think that very few people, because there is a great level of imbalance from my perspective as a player for 4 years (I play both roles)
The solution to this is for developers to design a new queue for SWF only.
Yes, a killer decides to get into this queue (be it because he wants to) he will face a 100% SWF, on the other hand, if we DO NOT want to play vs SWF, why should we play?
I hope there is equality for the killers, since it is not fair to play against 3 or 4 survivors who are friends, the killer has the one to "lose".
If they separate SWF into their own queue they'd never ever get a match as no amount of bribery or incentives could bring in anywhere near enough killers. Especially knowing they guaranteed will get all solos in the other queue.
Since half of all survs are at least in a two-man (old data now, prolly much higher these days because solo is just so lovely & fun) separating would make already rough queue times unbearable.
As many have stated all over the forum, the only realistic method is get solos the info & coordination capabilities to raise them toward SWF level then rebalance killers around that.

Was solo in the corn against a GF. Another was also on Xbox and the others crossplay, no one in a group as far as I could tell.
Killer only gets one hook when the Feng he was chasing for the last two gens goes down to NOED. I quickly find it as he defends his hook, someone unhooks with BT and we conga line towards the door.
The rank 1 GF immediately dc's when he hits the borrowed up Feng by swimming around our bodies.
Since the killer was also on Xbox I messaged asking why the dc. He said so none of you get points for escaping. Truely warmed my heart hearing that and told them so. Was accused of being in a SWF, to which I directed them to the Twitch vod for proof. Not a peep after that.

10 hooks instead of 12 maybe? Still kinda very much bs tho

Arguably yes, depends on how far you want to go. Since DbD is nowhere near being a real competitive game I don't mind that too much but there certainly are games with tournaments with very strict rules. Take fighting games as an example. Games are locked at 60fps and there are very strict criteria which the controller/gamepad/fighting stick you use has to fulfill in order to be able to participate. For example - you're not allowed to use controllers with a turbo mode. If you're using a modified controller (you either built it yourself or you altered the layout/function/whatever of a retail controller) you'll have to provide your controller for further inspection.
Not too sure what you're on about though tbh. Do you want to justify using comms by the existence of other "workarounds".
Again - I'm not saying "ban comms lul". I'm mainly playing killer but I also do enjoy to play SWF with comms from time to time with my friends. I'm just honest about it with myself and accept that the very fact of using comms will most likely have a rather big positive impact on my matches most of the time.
My point was comms could be viewed as "cheating" kinda like the other methods I listed, depending on your pov.
I wasn't trying to justify using comms, but they are a thing and aren't going anywhere, and potentially alter the balance greatly depending on how well they are used.
-
What response could we reasonably expect at this point, beyond the put-offish "We heard you and our team is working on it" kinda statement?
First there's the feeling of being forgotten about and left behind, despite glimmers of hope like their unfulfilled goal of 60fps minimum for everyone.
Then Crossplay comes without a decent shot at a level playing field performance wise, no k&m support to at least bridge the input gap, and no option to matchmake with only console for a semblance of fairness either. Can't even lower the graphics settings in a desperate attempt to reclaim some frames as our PC cousins can with a two-second toggle.
The most frustrating thing though imo is the lack of open communications about the entire subject. No time frame, future goals, nothing beyond "Our team is aware" maybe every six months. So very infuriating to me, and I doubt I'm alone in that.
Devs we love your game, support it in many ways, and wish to continue to play it but can we? If any of the numbers tossed about for console playerbase are true, we are the biggest chunk of your base now, with something like 85% still on PS4 and Xbox1 for lots of reasons. I'm afraid we need some support back please.
(End of early af morning love & fustration rant)

I mean the ps5 and seriesx run at 60 on most games. This is especially true if you don't run in 4k. Dbd has been running at 60 since the ps4 pro and Xbox one x. Though a few maps did dip the framerates a slight amount.
My Xbox1x has never ever run DBD at a steady 60 frames. Ever. It can dip into the teens indoors or with Doc or Freddy. Ffs I still get mini freezes in the dang menus...

Well I think banning SWFs for using comms it a bit too much but if we're honest about it, it is kind of cheating. Using a third party communication tool is something that a) boosts your in game performance and b) is in no way or form possible within the game. If there was a way to communicate during the match in a clear way and over a long distance, like a chat (so pointing and waving doesn't apply here), we could argue about comms being absolutely fine but it's not in the game and thus the game was not intended and designed to be played that way. I think the devs even said something along the lines of that they deliberately not included a chat and designed the game as such.
I also think that almost everybody in this community agrees on the fact that comms can give you way more information than otherwise. If used properly, it's essentially a fifth perk for every survivor and a pretty strong one at that too.
Don't get me wrong - I'm not saying to remove SWFs or bann comms but imo we should accept that SWF+comms as it is what it is and in the end it's "using third party tools to directly improve your gameplay" which somewhat falls within the definition of "cheating".
Or as Wikipedia calls it "Cheating in video games involves a video game player using various methods to create an advantage beyond normal gameplay, in order to make the game easier".
If SWF+comms is not exactly ^--- that, what is it then?
Wouldn't using video and sound cards to alter the game, not to mention playing around with the .ini files, also count as cheating since console can do none of those things?
-

"Suggestions". Suggestions on how to fix game balance without fixing SWF are like suggestions on how to heal an injured person without attending his injures.
The best we can do is get solos much more info and coordination capabilities to raise them toward SWF level then rebalance the killers around that, because I firmly believe SWF won't be touched.
-
@Junylar said:
SWF should just be a separate game mode with different rules. Right now the game is Heaven for SWFs and Hell for solo survivors, because you can't balance the game for both of them simultaneously.
Never gunna happen. First off the devs have said over and over they do not wish to split the playerbase nor punish anyone. Second the SWF would never get a match as no killers would willingly face them no matter what incentives are offered. Third I doubt the playerbase is large enough to support multiple modes anyway.
We need to frame our suggestions with the single queue in mind. Last stats from like two years back half of all survs were in at least a 2-man, and with solo queue so lovely these days that number has to have risen hard.

Used to be my favorite game but these performance issues make it hard to enjoy. I stick around because of how much time I've put in and I keep hoping that maybe they'll finally fix these issues.
My cut off point will be when I finally get a ps5, if by then they still have yet to address performance issues I'm not even bothering installing it on the PS5. I've seen new gen players start to report performance issues after patches so only a matter of time before performance gets wicked bad on new gen too.
This is my chief concern as well. Everyone says just get the next gen when they're available that's your optimization (which is total bs by the way) but if after six months of their stronger hardware brute forcing DBD to run well-ish they too show increasing frame drops and the like, then ######### is the point?

It works on steam, windows, and stadia, and switch is coming. They would like to do the real consoles also, but Microsoft and Sony won't play ball.
This is essentially the correct situation here. The devs know it is a wanted option, and I honestly believe they have been faithfully working towards it happening. But as stated Sony/Microsoft have to agree to it as well.
Imo it will never happen sadly.

Is there a direct way i can see how many people are playing on console because i for sure know that the player counts for PC and other platforms are separated.
Short answer is no, as such info although known by the devs cannot be released due to UEA stuff with Sony/Microsoft etc.
In rough figures altogether consolers outnumber PCrs, passing them towards the end of last summer. No doubt lockdown and the base game being free very often on GamePass and PSN contributed.
PlayStations are by far the greater chunk, with Xbox far behind and everything else after that.
If anyone can actually find verifiable numbers please post em I'd like to see them as well.
