Continuing a series of threads on the least picked perks according to Nightlight, next up is Blight's perk Dragon's Grip (0.63% usage)
Dragon's Grip - After damaging a generator, for the next 30 seconds, the first Survivor that interacts with it will scream, revealing their location for 4 seconds, and becoming afflicted with the Exposed status effect for 60 seconds. Dragon's Grip has a cooldown of 120/100/80 seconds. Exposed Survivors will be downed by basic attacks even if uninjured.
The good thing about this perk is Exposed hits can be really valuable. Even one or two instant downs on a healthy survivor can build a lot of killer momentum. And 60 seconds is a pretty decent amount of time to be Exposed as well, it's long enough that the killer has an ok chance of finding the Exposed survivor again and maybe hitting them before it runs out. And it even gives the killer an idea of where the survivor is when it triggers.
The perk does have some downsides though which is probably why it doesn't get used too often
- The perk has a fairly long cooldown. So if you kick a gen to place it then it takes a while before you can do it again. Realistically you're probably only going to be able to place this perk on gens a few times a match before time runs out, so that means the number of possible times it might trigger is likewise limited. And unlike, say, Haunted Grounds, it only affects one survivor per trigger, not all of them, so the number of survivors potentially hit by this perk is going to be small.
- Even if you kick a gen to place this perk, it lasts for 30 seconds and then goes away. It's quite possible for survivors to simply move to a different gen for that time and never trigger this. Of course, the upside then is the gen you kicked will be regressing for 30 seconds, so if you combo this perk with Call of Brine or Overcharge then the survivors will lose a lot of its progress, so at least when paired with those it can put the survivors in a tricky situation of stopping regression and becoming Exposed or not becoming Exposed and losing time.
- Also a minor downside is that Exposed only triggers on basic attacks and some killers simply prefer to use their special attacks instead when possible (e.g. Huntress, Wesker, Victor in the Twins, etc). And since the killer doesn't necessarily know specifically which survivor is Exposed from this perk unless they saw it happen they might not know to use a basic attack instead of their special one when this is in play. That probably cuts slightly into the number of killers that try this perk out in the first place.
Overall Dragon's Grip might not be used much but still be kind of ok, especially if you pair it with Call of Brine and/or Overcharge on a killer who primarily uses basic attacks and maybe has decent mobility to reach survivors who scream at a distance (e.g. I could maybe see this being a decent combo on Dredge since they can teleport close to a scream and, during Nightfall, even have an ok chance of ambushing the Exposed survivor quickly.) Dragon's Grip by itself on its own might not be that exciting, though, so I could maybe see it benefiting from a very slight buff to increase its usage a bit?
If it were to get modestly buffed, some possible ways to do it could include:
- Increase that 30 seconds time limit so it lasts longer on the gen you kick. The longer it lasts the more likely it will trigger.
- Increase the 60 second Exposed time. 60 seconds is already pretty good in my opinion but obviously the longer it lasts the more likely the killer can take advantage of it.
- In addition to the scream, show the aura of the survivor who triggers Dragon's Grip for a short time. That would help the killer get a better sense of what direction they were running away from the gen to better catch up to them.
- Reduce the 80 second cooldown. The lower the cooldown the more often you can place the effect on gens and the better the chance some of them will pay off.
- A more unusual buff might be to highlight the outline of the survivor who is under the Dragon's Grip effect to make them stand out from other survivors if they're in line of sight of the killer (similar to how Freddy's ability highlights survivors who are in Dream state or Sadako's ability highlights survivors who have high amounts of Condemned status.) If the killer can differentiate who is Exposed from this perk versus who isn't it could maybe help them prioritize their targets when there are multiple survivors in view. Or you could even simply have Dragon's Grip have a side effect that it highlights ANY Exposed survivor for the killer, making it have additional synergy with other Exposed effects from things like Haunted Grounds or Devour Hope or various ultra rare add-ons, etc.
I think Dragon's Grip should apply to a generator for 30//35/40 seconds. If a survivor touches the generator, they become Exposed for 35/40/45 seconds (effect applied like Make Your Choice, so it will have no cooldown in a sense) and scream. Multiple generators can be affected by Dragon's Grip at one time, and generators affected by it are outlined in yellow, if a survivor touches a generator affected by Dragon's Grip, all other generators with it applied have the effect removed (to prevent it from getting out of hand).

You can play with all your friends in KYF.
This game has been horribly skewed in balance because of swfs.
Take boil over fine, until some swfs decide to camp in police department with it.
Typical example of how swf behaviour causes perks and maps to be balanced because you "want to do dumb stuff" together.
I love it when me and my duo partner just get stuck in a Customs match and unable to do anything because you need more people to actually have the game work properly, such an amazing suggestion. :)
In all seriousness, if the balance is skewed towards SWF, then buff SoloQ up the level of SWF with QoL, then balance around SWF. The difference between SoloQ and SWF is too great and removing SWF is stupid.
-
@Barbarossa2020 said:
Remove swf's Solo queue becomes fine.
So remove people playing their friends? That literally doesnt make sense and would kill the game. One of the best things about multiplayer games is being able to play with friends and do dumb stuff together, relax, etc, removing that cause people to leave the game (as well as just being a horrible idea since playing with friends drives up the player count and brings in more money).

I will say that I was wrong. I thought it would be OP and super meta.
Reality is that I don't see this perk that offten and If I do... usualy just one person use it. I think the base BT for 10 seconds is good allready and people want to use OTR less because of it.
I think the perk is mostly fine I quess.
OTR was definitely a perk I was concerned about when the perk rework PTB came out, along with Overcharge, but it's a perk that I feel like has been put in a pretty good position, since it is not needed but is there if someone wants it.
Personally I was worried that people would bodyblock with it since Im an M2 Only Billy main, but it's not as bad as I thought, plus Dead Hard does what it does but just better since it's multi-use (and Im fine with DH anyways, since it takes good timing and ping compensation to get off properly).

What what??? Like a real over my shoulder camera filming me? You nuts man. Leave me alone with your delusional.
@Pulsar when did you stop.taking the game serious?
I really feel like this is deflecting a bit. After reading through all the replies, some pretty good points were brought up and it really feels like you are ignoring them, however some are recent and considering how long the thread is, you could have missed them, so I dont know.
That being said, Im not here to make fun of or belittle you (mainly just speaking my mind), but if you make the claims of having such a high win rate, would you mind providing some footage and gameplay, perhaps streaming it like other people have suggested? I reckon if someone had such amount of talent, they would really blow up on social media. Or perhaps since you happen to have a 99% win rate, you can maybe provide the spread sheet/data used to come to that win rate? Having direct information to observe would also be nice.
This being said, you do not have to do it, Im not sitting here holding you at gunpoint to do anything, but frankly the claims you made are neither falsifiable nor provable, which does not leave a good impression for most people (and you might have already came to that conclusion from the replies), so it might be best to at least provide some evidence in this case (but again I must restate that you do not have to do it, you are your own person, you have the choice here).
Also might I ask, what is your Steam/EGS profile? Or Console profile? Since Ive been achievement hunting lately I would like to see where you are at there since I find interest in weird things like it.

Then what is the entire point in replying then? I literally said it needed to be changed, so why say something like this to begin with, it quite literally would just add nothing to the conversation that isnt already said.

Point to me where I said "the perk is fine how it is". I literally said it needs to be changed.

Wraith is a power house in current kick meta. He doesn't need any buffs at all.
Myers is outdated and needs an entire power and addon "pass"
I would just get rid of the ability to Lightburn Wraith, it's kind of pointless to have a mid-tier killer be weakened and punished for using their power, especially when Wraith gets punished the hardest in comparison to other killers that can get burned; they can maybe even buff flashlights, flashbangs, and firecrackers for compensation, since they are items meant for fun anyways, and I dont think many people will mind it, but Wraith being Lightburned is dumb.
-
It's additive from everyone's progress of doing the challenge. It shouldnt take too long to complete if everyone chips in, but a decent amount of players might not have page 2 unlocked yet so give it some time.
-
A lot of them are like Billy mains, just really chill people.
-
This is going to sound weird, but Insidious is a really good chase perk. Just pretend to leave but never really leave and when they leave the area, you catch them in a deadzone and get a free hit. Is it gimmicky? Yes, but it can still work.
Despite this, I still feel like Insidious needs a change, since it's effect, outside of what I just mentioned, only really supports camping and meme strategies.

hmmm, I'm about to start the second tome line and felt dread when I saw this challenge. If using PS, do you think it'd be better to drop either DS or Head On for Flip Flop? Just curious.
Power Struggle + Flip Flop is too gimmicky unless youre SWF.
I would recommended Blast Mine, Head On, Vigil or Parental Guidance (to make Head On better), and DS.
-
All stuns count towards the challenge, DS, Blast Mine, Power Struggle, Head On, etc all steal Void Energy, so I would recommend bringing a stun build.
-
Oh they could add a system to favorite things to make them easier to access, besides it would extend beyond that and apply to cosmetics and charms, making them easier to access and equip (I cant tell you how much time Ive wasted looking for the LBGT+ flag charm).
-
Wraith, Doctor, and Legion are typically what I recommend to newer players.
Doctor has information with his power (Static Blast) which makes him easier to use and Shock Therapy can have a huge learning curve with it but is decent anti-loop in the right hands.
Wraith is simply, he is easy to pick up and understand. Also he has a lot of flexibility in terms of builds because of his addons. He also have decent and consistent mobility while cloaked because of Windstorm addons and basekit cloaked movement speed.
Legion is makes use of a lot of perks other killers otherwise cannot get use from, they have information (Killer Instinct from Feral Frenzy) and has built in slowdown (Deep Wound) with it. They are easy to pick up and understand, and just like Wraith, he has a lot of flexibility from their addons.

The solution is not to just slam the DC penalties back on, and pretend everything's right.
You should honestly take into consideration and think about WHY people DC. Find the cause and start eliminating the biggest ones.
Why do people insta-DC against Nurses and Blights? You know the answer to that, and you haven't done anything about it yet, despite the countless posts on the forums over the last several months. You can start here. Ignoring the problems is not good for the game or the players.
No, the massive DCing is pushing for a new DC system in my opinion.
I mean, think about it, DC Penalties and BP removal is outdated, especially with cheaters on the rise, but not having a system in place that doesnt leave the survivors in a horrible position leads to mass frustration.
My suggestion is replacing survivors with bots, but if all 4 survivors or 1 killer DCs then the match automatically ends and BP is granted out as compensation.

Holding the game hostage is making it so a win is not possible. Examples included bodyblocking the last survivor in a niche where they cant get out or keeping someone in the basement (old Myers house).
No since there are situations in which is it fine to do.
You can bodyblock someone in a room, if EGC was already started, it is fine, but if EGC has not started then it is seen as taking the game hostage (according to Mandy ~ https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/309734/is-this-taking-the-game-hostage ).
It is entirely based on rather the survivor can do their objective or not. If you bodyblock someone to prevent them from doing generators then it is against the rules, but during end-game, survivors have no objective other than escaping, therefore it seen as fair game to bodyblock.
3-gen situations still allow survivors to progress the objective, the issue is that it becomes a war of attrition for both sides.

I decided to try a Three Gen defense build on Doctor, and it honestly felt like the game would never end if I just kept camping on three of them with my perks, addons, and power. I did eventually just commit to a chase and the rest of the game ended normally, but for a good amount of time I was just focusing on static blasting and Overcharging the last three generators, and I wonder if that could be bannable under holding the game hostage, similar to how survivors hiding for 20 minutes without doing objectives is (from what I've heard).
I do not believe it counts, since you can win in a 3-gen situation, just things progress insanely slow, but since the survivors can still progress the objective, I think it is fine.

I do not really talk about is much but I grew up in a not so good household. We were financially well but my father was incredibly abusive with most of their aggression aimed towards me. They were really controlling and basically prohibited me from doing most things, even basic things. I was basically just treated as a pet by him, something for their own using. I cannot really dive too deeply into it, but they did some very illegal things towards me which eventually caught up to them and they were arrested.
(My family did not really get involved with the abuse I faced because they too feared getting the end of it, I do not blame them after all I went through, and Im glad it was me who had to deal with all of that instead of them. I do not want people to over-react and think my family is full of horrible people when it's quite the opposite.)
We eventually moved away which was heartbreaking because what little I had during that time was lost. I lost what little friends I had, as well as my possessions since we sold them to be able to afford a new place to stay as the old place we lived was way to expensive. And I started therapy and anti-depressants to deal with the trauma I faced growing up. There were also some "incidents" here and there that I do not really think I can talk about because of TOS and self-harm.
After losing everything and being completely disconnected from the world for literal years due to a lack of internet and devices, I eventually managed to kind of bring myself back to the level of everyone else technologically (not really sure how to word it). Im still trying to catch up on media I havent been able to see over the years.
One of the things that Ive always enjoyed despite the limited exposure was music, I remember stealing a radio from my sister's room so I would have some form of entertainment whenever I got locked into my room. It has always been something that has been in the back of my mind, since I felt bad for stealing it but at the same time, I basically had nothing or no one to really find comfort in.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=usXhiWE2Uc0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pb-EwykPTv8While not really much, just some songs Ive picked up over time that I really enjoy. I would have also put Professional Griefers by Deadmau5 as well but Im pretty sure it is really on the border of TOS and I rather not risk it. But these main two just give me a fuzzy feeling I cant describe, there is something about them that I love so much but just cannot put into words.

Umm. I dont think most people have an issue with the photo... it is just questionable, at best... not that I mind.
But in all honesty, I can see how it would be annoying, when everyone has already left seeing the timer run down and a person not leaving can feel really annoying. I mean, they already lost and probably do not want more time wasted. BUT just because something is annoying does not make it toxic, e.g. I find people dropping god pallets at the start of the match annoying, but that does not make it toxic by any means.

We are not including ourselves. I would say 95% of the time when I lose I see at least 1 'gg'. Sometimes a 'gg easy'.
After my last 200-300 hundred 4Ks or escapes, I would say I have seen maybe 15ish 'gg' from the other losing player(s).
How about your games?
I always say "ggwp" regardless if I win or lose, but typically if I lose, I might make a joke here and there to kind of lighten the mood a bit. I also just ask how the experience was for the other side as well.
-
My issue with Nurse is that she is inaccessible to a large amount of people. She has the lowest kill rate because her skill floor is way too high, but the skill ceiling is low enough to make your average Nurse before just as well as most other high-level Nurses. Reworking Nurse can help solve this, but comes at the cost of butchering their power.
-
Neither.
The game is not balanced enough to really quantify or qualify the game being towards a certain side. Something things are unfavorable. But there is just too many moving parts imo.

Killers don’t need to run perks to try and steal anything from survivors, though. Survivors shouldn’t need a specific perk build to even try to do well against killers. And I’ve personally never been stunned by any of those perks because they’re easy to anticipate. I can’t imagine many killers really fall for them. Maybe if the killer is kind they’ll allow a survivor to stun them.
And survivors dont need perks to still steal from the killers though? Getting stuns is not that hard, even with people respecting pallets, you can still anticipate when to drop the pallet. But just like any game, there is stuff to help you do better. Killers can bring chase perks to get easier downs. Survivors can bring stun perks to get easier stuns. It goes both ways.

People have suggested that before, but the downside to that is basically 60 seconds means that killers get to camp a whole hook stage for free and there is nothing the survivors can do about it, cause all gens are blocked.
I'd rather the perk got some kind of secondary effect or it revealed the auras of all survivors for like 10 seconds. Killers will get 40 seconds of gen blocking + encourages them to leave hook cause they get to know every survivors current position. Atm if the obsession is your 4th hook, then you just get no value out of that aura reading.
This would require the killer to still down and hook all 4 survivors though?
Which means the killer would need to not camp and tunnel to proc it's effect. It also promotes not camping since the Obsession's Aura is revealed when it procs.
Besides what you are saying can be applied to other perks as well. "You can camp a survivor for a full hook state with Blood Warden", "You can camp a survivor for a full hook state with No Way Out", etc.

I may be getting this wrong but isn't there cross progression you can activate. Surely if you activate cross progression then your MMR will also move over.
However if it isnt an option trust me survivors don't get any better mid/top MMR. I'm a killer main and i believe my MMR hit the soft cap or is close to it. I constantly see lobbies where you get 1 survivor who knows what their doing and 3 that just have no clue or don't want to play properly.
Cross-progression only exists between Stadia and PC due to the Stadia Closure (aka Stadia is being shut down, so BHVR is forced to let people care over their progress to another account).
Cross-progression could be in the works for all we know, we do not have much information in regards to it though.

Rank resets tomorrow. So in the chance for a fresh start; dodge lobbies. Dodge low prestige(under 9) default cosmetic lobbies , double Claudettes, triple character lobbies (especially triple bunny Feng).
I'm not saying these lobbies are always bad... just that it's a higher chance.
Ranks/Grades and MMR are too separate things. Ranks/Grades do not contribute to matchmaking, it's just a monthly incentive to play the game for Bloodpoints. MMR is what calculates who you are paired with/against.

Sole survivor bruh. Gets you out the exit gate AND gets you the MMR still. Unfortunately DBD isn't a game where you carry a bad team. Even if you are the best looper in the lobby, the killer can just ignore you and tunnel your teammates to death before you can hold M1 long enough to win.
Not to mention the DCs and suicides while playing solo Q. I always run sole survivor or left behind unless I am specifically going for points or running a meme build. Anytime I enter a match without either of those perks I accept I will die in circumstances beyond my control in many cases
Sole survivor is nice because you don't have to announce you are a hatch rat with a key. You can just run a medkit and blend in as a regular survivor until the time to strike (aka stab your team in the back) arrives.
3 survivors alive. Someone is on the hook, another survivor is being chased, with 2-3 gens left? Whoops, I didn't make it to the hook in time and now they are both dead. My bad. I will stop doing it when it stops working
I do not have the Halloween DLC on this account, and Im going to wait a bit before forking over more money since I dont want my bank account to be put on hold.

you might have to adapt to your...meta, as much as I hate to say it. It's not realistic to carry entire teams like that so your only realistic option is to be a Jake and crouch with Iron Will as your friends around you suffer a grisly demise.
That's the thing, I dont want to, sitting in a single spot and hiding all game is boring.
I just want to be able to do stuff and feel like what I am doing is worth my time. What is the point in taking chase when nobody will do generators? What is the point in doing generators if people only last 10 seconds in chase? Why hide all game when there are better ways of playing, even if it is meaningless no matter what I do? No matter what I do, I dont win, I cant win.
