Happens to me whenever a survivor is hooked, a generator completed or EGC triggered. Kinda annoying if I'm in middle of a chase or doing gens on my own, but other than that I think it's better than it was like a year ago or so

All that will do is further encourage a killer to stand around and punch someone on the hook, because if anyone tried to save them the killer gets an effort free down. Thankfully I'm certain BHVR would never even consider such a ridiculous idea.
That's fair. I didn't think it through lol The least we need are more campers
-
It's outdated because it was made back when there were not as many perks as there are now. And it's getting worse with every new chapter, I can't imagine what it feels like to people that are starting to play just now :/
-
Unsafe unhooks should grant a BT effect on the unhooked survivor and an exposed status on the unhooker, so that they think it twice before farming teammates and still feeds the hook to the killer.
-
The thing with "getting rid of something because it annoys me" is where do we stop?

Yes, please

The real question is, when will we get new outfits for these two? :(
-
Artisti: Haven't bought the DLC and probably won't buy it any time soon. I've faced around 10 Artists by now (I haven't played much these last days) and I'm already bored of her. Her sounds are annoying (I can't believe we lost Pinhead's legendary line but this thing survived T-T), her crows constantly camping hooks, can't wait for the trend to be over :/
Map: Loved it, but I'd rather have a darker ground so that things like Hag's traps or Trapper's traps would blend better with the environment.

Considering they made moris only usable on survivors who were on death hook, it's only fair that keys got basically the same treatment (even if it was like a year later but whatever). They are both unfun mechanics, that's why they are both getting reworked. Until then they are just a mechanic, i guess.
I hope they keep working on both those things. For hatch they could add some new mechanic, a new interaction/objective for survivors to complete if they want the hatch to spawn. That way it feels more "earned" and can also work as a distraction from genrushing.

Comms would completely negate the killers power so I don't think we'll ever see one.
I agree they wouldn't be S or A-tier material, but I guess it would still be fun to play as and against. Probably not so much playing SWF but as a solo survivor I can see how it could be kinda scary. But yeah, it'd be mostly for fun because of comms
-
A shapeshifter that could momentarily mimic the appearance of survivors
-
I usually save them for when I play with friends. Randoms are way too unpredictable. If I play with other friends at least I know one of us will benefit from the BPs even if the other dies at the start.
-
I don't know but surely the Entity would be so displeased it would kick both mes out of the Realm

Well said. Game would be far less toxic if everyone followed this advice. The reason trolls exist is because people feed them
Feeding trolls is one of the things I try not to do but I also feel like many people fuel this cycle of hate unintentionally or with good intentions like when they try to make other people feel better. I've seen many threads on this site from mains of either role seeking validation for their "toxicity" or for being a jerk during a match "becauseeeee the (other role) did so and so".
To name a few examples: "I facecamped because he was clicky clickying non-stop or I teabagged because he hit me right off the hook was I wrong?" You may have been right, you may have been wrong, who knows? We weren't there.
What I mean is, sometimes you want to make others feel better about the bad experience they had but all they take from the responses is "I was right, so I can keep on doing it because it's okay".
-
I think my favorite cosmetic in the game is the Minotaur, but I didn't buy it because I'm soooo bad at playing Oni lol
-
I'd love to see a neon map, the only thing that bothers me a little is that if they do add a map like that right now some people will say they only did it because they were scared of VHS and wanted to add more "colorful" spaces as they have.
-
Making a thread generalizing the whole "survivor community" does not help the cause. There are no "survivor communities" or "killer communities" lmao, we are all just randoms sitting in front of a screen pushing buttons. We can play both roles and preferring either one over the other does not define us as anything. I'm sorry that you have to deal with these kinds of things, but the truth is it has nothing to do with them choosing to play as survivors, trolls will be trolls no matter the side they play on.
If people want a better community just report toxic players and don't feed the trolls. Let them talk trash in chat for 4 more minutes while you go to the next match.
-
DC Button.
If you have an emergency, just close the whole game and go sort that out!
But honestly, the dumbest thing is that there's still no way to differentiate between different reasons for disconnecting. Hasn't happened to me yet because I'm average MMR, but I've seen high MMR players DC because of hackers and it's just dumb that they end up being punished while the hackers jump right into the next game. Makes little sense.
-
I didn't even know about that spot in Dead Dawg Saloon, but a couple of days ago I had a friend of mine trapped inside a room because a Wraith was bodyblocking the only way in or out of that place. A waste of time honestly, I guess that map is full of surprises
-
They are fun to go against, they always give me 4 whole minutes to look at memes or something :)

I was wondering about it myself. A lot of threads begins with "I'm so tired being high mmr fix your game pls".
Sometimes I think there is no MMR and we still playing by old ranking system. As killer I win several games with 4k and then I lose several games horribly. Almost no inbetween results. Pretty same situation for survivor.
lol for real.
I remember when the SBMM was the main topic here there were soooo many people complaining about the teammates lol. Not gonna lie, I've had that kind of match where my teammates can't even hit a skill check, but I've also had matches where I derp like a noob and only get out because of the other players doing most of the things. I find it somehow balanced tbh.
I think that's how it goes for most people, but I guess no one would come here to talk about how bad they played and how lucky they were to be matched to better-skilled players(?
Also, maybe the average or casual player doesn't even know the forum exists. Like they play the game, win or lose and just move on to the next match. Some probably don't even care about the ranking system at all.
-
There's not much to be done against people when they decide they don't want to play the rest of the game.
I've just finished a match with a player that was so mad he got hooked first that he decided to troll the rest of the team. We were in The Game map against a Nurse, he got hooked and tried to kill himself on-hook but someone saved him, so he decided the best thing to do was to run around the map dropping every pallet available... just because. He was downed again and right before the killer picked him up he DC'd.

Cause more players use surv than killers,an other interesting questions will be :
Why surv has to have perks when they can talk to each others ?
or
Why a killer takes so long to clean blood after hit?
or
Why Demogorgon´s perk has becomes generic and the Demogorgon doesn´t have new perks?
or my favourite
Why reporting toxic behaviours is just like screaming in a box?
"Why surv has to have perks when they can talk to each others?"
Because some of us still play Solo Q most of the time. Not everyone is playing SWF.
"Why a killer takes so long to clean blood after a hit?"
To allow chases to exist. If you hit and slow down the survivor but don't slow down the killer that would be a guaranteed insta-down. You can still choose one-hit killers like Leatherface, Hillbilly, Tier III Michael to avoid the animation.
"Why Demogorgon´s perk has becomes generic and the Demogorgon doesn´t have new perks?"
They don't have the licenses anymore, so they won't be adding new to Demo, Nancy or Steve. They explained it better in one of the newsletters from a couple of months ago.
"Why reporting toxic behaviours is just like screaming in a box?"
Honestly, no idea. I assume (or want to believe) there are too many reports and it takes a while to go through everything.

It’s definitely not fun being body blocked by a BT. I’ve always thought protective hits should disable BT. It wouldn’t fix it but it would stop certain abuses of it.
It's hard enough in solo Q to get some random people to risk themselves to go and save you. If you don't give them at least a chance of leaving unharmed then goodbye to that last hope. And I say a chance because not everyone is going to body-block. In my experience most of the time the killer will just go for the unhooked instead of the rescuer, so I don't even have to bodyblock, I'll just run for the next couple of seconds to see if I reach a safe loop or just hope DS will give me a few seconds more.
-
They should just add a counter for survivors to see how many totems left there are without using Small Game, if it's 1 or more and they still don't bother cleansing them well, what can I say...
-
Give us two entrances but install doors there, so that survivors need to open them using (yellow glyphs') skill checks. And introduce perks that may alert the killer the doors are being opened. Also, basements could do with a little reworking to add some themes or details according to each killer or even with personalized decorations like charms for every player.

How do you coordinate a solo Q team to locate and assist another random somewhere on the map when they get caught by Victor? I mean, if you are a SWF and fail to do so, okay, that's a problem. But how do you manage to coordinate something like that with solo Qs?

The problem is it is putting survivors against him that are way above his level. This is why we need mmr.
This is why we need SBMM actually. MMR is causing all these problems imo
-
And how do you determine the survivor gave up? There is a counter to suicide on the hook, you can rescue the person before they die. The first stage goes quickly yes, but the second takes a little longer. You can't penalize a survivor for attempting to unhook themselves because there are achievements for that.

Hm, so we need Killers who 2 hook every survivor and let them escape afterwards. BHVR should really add killer bots in pub matches so survivors would never complain again. I dont know why they havent done it yet. PvE fits this game so much better than PvP imo. Cause there would be no reason to insult or complain about the opponent if its a stupid bot.
Wait until the bot grows a consciousness and comes to the forums to complain about Dead Hard

Play how you want... not sure why killers or survivors feel they need validation for how they play from people on the forums. If it is not against the rules...do it.
I don't tunnel or camp, but hey - you paid for the game so play how you want. Use whatever perks you want.
BUT don't be a hypocrite when survivors teabag, clicky clicky clicky, use keys, use "meta" perks, etc. Either everything in game is fair use... or you're being hypocritical. I all too often see "mains" complain about one strategy/action from the other side while asking for others to justify their actions... survivor mains will complain about tunneling for example - it's a valid strat... killer mains complain about survivors holding w - it's a valid strat. Just because you don't like something doesn't mean it shouldn't be done/used etc. I'm not saying YOU do.. just get tired of these "validate me" posts and then seeing the person complaining about the way others play.
I subscribe 200% to this comment. There are too many threads like that.

I just wish you could disable end game chat (on pc) in the settings. That way you can't be persuaded to take a quick look. That would make the game a bit more better on pc.
I still don't know why we even need an end game chat honestly lol

If you see this perk on every survivor there must be a reason, right? If the perk gets nerfed it means the base problem should be as well.

So I don't typically fall victim to camping as I'm in higher ranks, and usually only get camped on occasion/end-game...
but reading all the posts on here about camping and how it negatively effects new plays got me thinking!
Perk Idea: Cry For Help
After being hooked, if the killer remains within a close range of you for 25/20/15 seconds, Cry For Help activates.
Once active press the active ability button to let out a scream that is 75% louder to the killer, and reveals the killer's aura to all other survivors for 30 seconds (regardless of being Undetectable)
Can only be activated once per hook.
This would discourage people from camping cause not only would they get ear-assaulted for camping, but it would also act as a stronger copycat of Kindred to a degree. (being able to see an Insidious killer aura)
Make it a default pool perk so you can get it at the very beginning and boom. Happy newcomers.
Also I could see people having fun with this perk as it would be obnoxious and silly like Iron Maiden.
Another funny thing is: if people wanted to really counter the aggressive volume of the secondary hook scream, they would have to either not use a headset or turn down their volume which makes nearby survivors less susceptible to being heard/detected by the killer.
Just a funny (but very productive) idea I got from reading all the camp posts.
It'll never happen, but imagine! lol
Okay okay, I like it, but let me make it a little less "fun" :P
Instead of revealing the aura for 30 seconds, it would only do so for 5 seconds, BUT it can be activated three times.
The first time I will be at a standard level, the second time it will be louder for the killer, the third time it will make the killer disoriented for 10 seconds (like when you are intoxicated by the Clown).
-Why? Because the louder the noise, the more it hurts you.
-What would it do? Well, in order to avoid becoming disoriented you'll be required to leave the hook by X meters (Don't know how much, someone pick a number please xD).
-Benefits v risks? For survivors: If your team plays along, you have a better chance of being unhooked without needing external comms. The risks, well... it can go wrong both for you and your rescuer if the killer catches them. For killers: Similar scenario, if more survivors are encouraged to try and go for a rescue there are better chances you down someone else (plus you get at least some other person away from gens for a while). Risks, the chances of unhooking the survivor while you are disoriented are greater than they are as of now.

What BHVR tested for only about 5 days a couple of weeks ago was SBMM, and since they deactivated that we are now back in MMR, correct?
Yes, MMR is what we get by default right now. SBMM was the skill-based system that didn't take ranks into consideration

People seem to have this weird mindset when it comes to EGC. For a lot end game collapse seems to be a victory march of sorts where the game is over and you have to let everyone out instead of it just being another phase of the match. I think NOED can easily be reworked into something that punishes genrushing while still having counterplay at all phases of the game and this is my proposed idea.
NOED now works off how many totems there are left in the match. The activation conditions are still the same however, whenever you hit a survivor with NOED active it destroys a totem, once all the totems in the match are destroyed NOED deactivates. So if there's 5 totems in the end game then you get 5 free hits, if there's only 1 totem left in the match then you get one free hit. This keeps the original function of NOED intact while giving a little more leeway for survivors since destroying totems throughout the match can reduce the effectiveness of the perk no matter what phase of the match you're at and encourages spending time to totem hunt a little more.
I like this idea

That was my experience too ^^
This is mainly because as average casual players we were matched against other average casual players. There was no sweat, no explicitly competitive approach to the game, just playing against a similarly skilled rival. The problem when we remove that system is that we start to get opponents that are either way above or below our league.
When you get matched to someone that's clearly better than you, it's never fun. You don't stand a chance, you know it and the other player knows it too. So you are just there at their mercy to try to see how many BPs you can rescue from this already lost match. In my opinion, the main opposition to this new system comes from people that were all of a sudden matched against other people at their level instead of lower-ranked opponents.

Yes I'm new to the game so be it. Going to vent so feel free to leave if you're one of these campers and believe you're a tactical player.
I just played ~8 games in a row where the killer either hard camped a player or hovered near them to prevent safe unhooks. 9 times out of 10 this causes the player involved to get to 2nd phase without a chance to play the rest of the game. This is just in the early parts of the game, where maybe 1 or 2 gens are fixed. Sometimes no generators have been touched and the killer gets a lucky spawn. Then decides they will camp the body to win the game for free. Yes, for free.
4 years this game has been around. I know it's a dying game but we can see the obvious reason. If you won't balance the game for players and killers alike then people will quit playing. I'm frustrated so my point of view is biased, but not so much that I can't see how incredibly beneficial it is for the killer to simply pick a player and chase them for the whole game. Or camp them on hooks.
Especially when this could be easily resolved... and force the killer to have 60% slower actions within a radius around the hooked player. Slower movement speed is included in that debuff. Slower time to check lockers, slower time to vault, slower time to break pallets... everything should be slower.
Why is it so simple to force the killer away from the hook but yet camping is seen as a viable strategy? I guess if I get camped that means I can do the same when I play killer... but I'm telling you, that makes the game incredibly boring. No one else likes the camper and it just feeds a negative mentality, which of course eats itself and builds a very negative community around it.
I don't even care if there's not a single person here who is against camping. It is bad for the game. Don't leave it up to the community to correct this problem. 4 years in the making and this could have been fixed 3 years ago now. Such ignorance should not go to waste.
But the game is dead, so people are glad to see it waste away. Very disappointing.
Is the game dying, tho? I'd like to see the source of those numbers to see how it's "dying", because afaik there's been a lot of many newcomers and old players getting back after the last events / new chapters / ST sales / PTB, etc.
As some players have said already, some things like the slowdown actions have been tested but didn't work because of exploits. It sucks, but as long as there are opportunists out there trying to exploit mechanics, nothing of that sort can be implemented.
Tunneling and camping are part of the experience, also. It doesn't matter what rank you are. You will see these tactics from rank 20s to rank 1s, the main difference is that the more experience your teammates have, the better chances the team gets a better outcome of the situation. Lower ranks will probably stand around the hook trying to save the player being camped, while purple/red ranks should already know to sit on gens and look for totems.
There is no easy way out of that really. The only advice one can give is to try and not be the first caught, try to stay near good loops, or run some exhaustion perks that will give you enough distance in a chase that the killers decide to not even bother going against you and tries for someone else.
You can also get an idea of how the match is going to go after a couple of minutes. Too many gens popping and still no hooks? Probably NOED, CLEANSE TOTEMS. Do you see you can chase the killer for 2/3 gens straight without being downed? Well, at this point he'll probably camp to secure at least one kill. Did you do anything "toxic" (clicky clicky, t-bagging, etc)? Again, probably a couple of hits on the hook while being camped, etc

You have to be in range. Range varies depending on the add-ons you use. You can even use an add-on that will let you teleport anywhere whenever you want.
Whenever a survivor steps on your trap (again, the range of the trap also depends on the add-ons) you'll get a little notification and you can press CTRL (if you are on PC, otherwise I'm not sure). Keep in mind you have a limited amount of time to teleport, so if you are sure you want to be there try to be fast

No, but seriously. A game with so many optimization problems can't really be so severe with these punishments. Enough people are being punished already by the way the penalties work right now for reasons that are not really their fault. Sadly, some kind of punishment is needed.
-
So last match I was downed like 10 seconds into the match (School against a Nemesis) because of course I'm gonna spawn next to him, why not? One of my teammates decided to loop the killer next to the hook and another one unhooked me without BT with the killer 5 meters again, it didn't matter tho because the zombie that was in front of me downed me immediately after I was unhooked. So yeah, I accidentally missed the next two skill checks... oops

Nope, it's the way it's always been. It happens a lot at night, from my experience of course. It's like they have no many people around so they put you in whatever match they find first

This map is great against certain killers, others not so much. A stealthy Myers, Ghostface, Wraith are fun options, because of the long corridors, the sensation that they may be just around the corner when you are running. Those are fun, but I just had a match against a Nemesis, zombies blocking entrances, camping gens, you had to literally run around to make your way around them to get from point A to point B. I tried my best, did a gen, rescued a couple of teammates, but to be fair after 5 or 6 minutes just evading zombies it was getting boring af.

Yeah, you'll need all Clown's perks for this tome
Welcome to DbD, a game about grinding offerings you'll never use from a bloodweb and occasionally playing a match or two 😫

I find most of the challenges for killers to be quite difficult but that's because I'm not that good. Maybe what they are trying to do is to make more people play killer longer in order to get better to complete those tasks

Like who is MMR actually for? Another thing to add, but do you think that the recent MMR system from August of THIS YEAR(idk why I'm not seeing many posts about it) would be good?
The idea behind that test was to make people match against similarly skilled players, no matter what their current ranks were. And from my experience and for what I read, it served it's purpose. Some liked that and some didn't. As an average player, it was pretty good for me.
