BHVR released its RE teaser quite early, just a couple weeks after All-Kill was fully released. It was obviously planned as extra advertisement for the new RE8 game and to bring even more players into the game. If BHVR released the teaser closer to the actual reveal then it would be cutting close to the release date of RE village.
RE8 was my first Resident Evil game and its all thanks to the cross promotion. Now obviously this is all speculation but I think Capcom is going to stick with this theme and keep advertising their newer characters.
Btw if you liked re8 I'd suggest giving both RE4 and RE7 a try since they are the most similar to 8
-
Honestly I'd prefer killers to be able to see survivors auras for a couple seconds at start but I know people would hate that.
-
I wonder if they will add dlc to flesh out the lore more. I certainly hope so

Me every time I offer but it's always too late. Big oof

As someone who pre-ordered re8 months ago, already beat the campaign, loved it, and plan on doing another playthrough this week....
I don't think either will come in. At most we could see Ethan but I bet we would get other survivors over him. Killers I dont expect for many reasons such as gameplay related to re8 and some lore while classic characters would be much more natural to fit into the game and safer choices while re8 was an unproven game by the time the chapter was first starting development

I mean they could just design a pounce style mechanic while ignoring that aspect of Venom.
Then we would just have demo again.
Plus that's a very vital part of his character honestly. It would kind of be like having Rhino from spiderman but he can't run through anything. It just wouldn't fit them well to ignore key parts of their abilities
-
Survivor is boring often times because you just do the same thing every game and it's not super difficult to score well.
Killer can be fun but can often be much more frustrating so there's that
-
No only because of not being able to climb walls, hang from ceilings, etc.
That would be very important for him imo that any other parts about him are irrelevant

Dont give him free hits so he can't get his power
Any advice after getting hit? I feel like once you get hit you are doomed tbh. Get hit, then get hooked, then unhooked and he finds your blood trail and you just repeat getting hooked and unhooked until death

Niether am I however I want to do it so people can know me, and in case if I ever do get 'in trouble', I don't want to leave without people knowing a bit more about me.
No problem! I see you guys post pretty reasonably for both sides and you've been around for a good bit of time. @Boss and @Orion id put in similar boats of good reasonable long term posters

Oh the kill rate is involved?? Well then, in that case lets buff the nurse! irrelevant point.
Although kill rate was an argument for freddy harsh nerf (overly nerfed imo)

Id be very interested in personal stats as a section in the game

It does make a lot of sense from a mechanical perspective, as others mentioned:
His traps stop the survivor, unlike Hag's or even Freddy's. The latter can be used to shorten a chase (teleporting to the survivor, respectively slowing them down etc), but they don't keep the survivor stationary.
As Trapper's traps do that it's just fair he can step into his own traps as otherwise they could be used to wall survivors in/create blockades in crucial spots. While it would be tactically interesting, it would not be fair. Imagine the uproar if trapper could just block every pallet/loop in the game without any worry that he can move around it just fine.
Eh I feel like if a Trapper is able to set all of that up a survivor should be at fault and I'd feel totally fine allowing Trapper to do that since it would take forever to do. I think it would definetly make him better but I don't think it would make him good enough to be OP.
-
This reminds me, I had a game against a Trapper the other day and I accidentally vaulted and landed on a trap. A Survivor teammate walked right past me and started working on a gen. I had 4 or 5 attempts to release myself but Trapper came as soon as I got lucky then we both got downed. I decided when I got unhooked to tea bag my teammate on hook for them just blatantly not helping lol

@Power_Guy said:
Because he's horribly out of date and under-buffed due to power creep and the devs seem to have forgotten he exists.
Yeah id put Michael that category as well
-
Lol it does make him feel very memey since he is already pretty bad aside from that
-
My guess is that she is likely hard to know how to properly nerf. I think a lot of the options people have presented either nerf her in to the ground or are pointless nerfs that don't actually change her much. She may require a rework because her power has a lot of power behind it and kinda hard to adjust very effectively
-
One of the issues with Re8 killers is that both Lady D and Heisenberg have so much of what makes them unique are their personalities which wouldn't be the case if they came to DBD. Id love for Heisenberg especially but if he didn't talk or carry his usual swagger it would kinda feel like a weak representation of him. Lady D has some other issues plenty of people have talked about as well.
My money is on older content since they were remade not that long ago and have a lot less practical issues than Re7 or RE8 killers
-
I liked it a lot! I think it's definetly up there for one of the best REs. It could become my favorite overtime. I'll have to wait and see due to recency bias.
Wish lady dems part was later in the game because the other bosses felt more suited as early stage bosses imo.
I felt like the rose flash forward was unneeded

@Moundshroud said:
All this speculation could be moot, because it is possible they simply got the rights to do characters from the Resident Evil "movies" alone. We could be looking at Alice and the Licker.
God I hope not Alice. That would feel like a slap in the face imo
-
Yeah I don't see it happening nor any other killers from RE8

Dude demogorgon doesn't have eyes ethier
It's not just that they don't have eyes but they only detect motion and aren't hostile unless they hear sound.
Pyramid head could still clearly see, somehow as well as Demo while Lickers have shown to clearly be blind and only rely on sound
This also doesn't include the climbing parts of them as well as the fact they don't stand on two legs ever (which they would need to do to hook survivors)
-
Lickers also are blind which wouldn't work very well in dbd. They would also need to climb walls and ceilings which I highly doubt this gane will add just for them
-
Mrx- he could have a shoulder charge attack and spam punches based on Resistance
Nemesis- has a lot of options honestly. Charges, punches tentacle attacks, and could also use a flamethrower rather than rocket launcher.
Lady D- just the lunges with her claws really.
Heizimberg (forget his spelling)- he technically could but would use mostly Magneto like abilities
I've got some thoughts on other RE killers as well
-
@RenDesune said:
I dont think it's fair to use the lack of a power against lady D, Mr.X would be such a bland killer if you used what he was given in the resident evil games.
He at least has a shoulder charge attack and an punch a lot. She has her one claw lunge, which everyone has a lunge already

if survivors get BT for free then i want pop for free. Is pop for free a horrible idea likely to kill the game? absolutely. Giving survivors BT for free would be equally detrimental to the game
Although killers should get a built in, far weaker pop. Gen kicking is insanely weak base

visual signs like snow, perhaps, but i don't recall ever seeing frosty breath or shivering survivors at ormond or in the meat locker on gideon's.
the entity's realm is not the normal world. it's like a dream, or an afterlife. you can't guarantee it's cold. hell, you can't even guarantee people die at all here. the entity feeds on negative emotion, not deaths, and i'm not even sure all of them are alive in the first place.
Yeah and that's something that I thought about including
-
I still can't believe how early on she died. I kind of wish she was last or second to last of the 4 lords. The middle two should have been the first two imo.
-
@deckyr said:
Lorewise wouldn't make sense for the daughters since they are Confined to fairly warm temperatures otherwise they would die. Yes this game isn't cannon but the devs have made it clear that they don't want to contradict fundamental parts of each character
do you know the temperature of the entity's realm?
Not the exact temperatures obviously, but the fact that some levels display signs of being below 50 degrees (the temperature that kills the sisters in 8) shows that at least some are below 50.

@piggygooik said:
I feel like they should be. If all killers were A-tier it would make rank 1 ( and comp) feel fresh. you wouldn't see BT or spirit every game. The only killer that really needs a nerf is spirit and that's with her lack of counterplay.
Imagine seeing trickster in comp. I really do hope they buff weak killers and weak perks.
I made a poll on the poll section and it seems like most people want killers to be A tier but would want some nerfs to survivors in general (although small tweaks) and nerf s tier killers
-
@Madjura said:
8. The daughters power would essentially be Spirit if they had powers. They disappear and reappear mostly with bugs faulting around. People already don't like spirits power currently and I doubt BHVR would add basically the same character that already controversial.
Plot twist: From now on there are no more new killers but only new skins for existing killers. Instead of a new killer all that's released is a new Spirit skin.
Lol people would still buy the chapter at full price.
I could maybe see a skin working on her but I am skeptical they would do it
-
People should also keep in mind that if she was made smaller than she hardly has any powers...she would just be an M1 killer with no powers unless they added something onto her that's not in re8 when she is walking around. She has her claw but that's basically it
-
She was kind of a let down in 8 tbh. I wasn't as hyped as most but I was still slightly let down by her
-
If you play re8 you'll see why
-
Without spoiling anything, RE8 further confirms how neither Lady D or her daughters would make sense for dbd unless they ignore the lore and gameplay of both.
(If people want to talk more about specifics for each maybe we should go to the off topic section)
-

@indieeden7 said:
Oni, he is rewarded with his power for playing at least somewhat well, his power is strong but still leaves room for chase interaction and has a form of built in tracking.
I may just be terrible against him, but I feel like he is ever so slightly too strong. I think I'd want to slightly nerf the blood dropping but other than that he is fine
-
@IWasLeft2Die said:
Id be open to it on a couple conditions
1. Regular BT got nerfed a lot (so about 5 additional seconds)
2. Built in BT was approximately 5 seconds.
3. Remove bodyblocking with BT active survivor
4. (This I'm not as committed to) disable one or both after egc starts
Maybe not this exactly but something like this feels reasonable to me imo. I play both sides equally
Oh and part of this is to encourage more variety in survivors. I honestly don't think I've ever had a game where someone wasn't running this perk. I'm a bit surprised they buffed a meta perks this significantly since it was already used a ton
-
Id say Pyramid Head is probably the most balanced. He is very good but he does have some natural ways to counter him while killers above him feel a bit too strong often times and those below him leave a lot to be desired.
He feels like a reasonable threat whenever I play as survivor or him
-
Just bumping so the spoiler part goes away... I'm currently playing 8 and dont want anything spoiled, but I appreciate the heads up

I know you were asking for people who wants changes, but I honestly haven't seen lot of complaints about silent bell (maybe I just didn't see them?)
Silent bell is totally fine
All seeing I could see a better arguement for changes but I do think if that changed he would need some buffs on other addons most likely
-
One that makes temporary walls on command.
Killers place two points on the ground (obviously there must be a limited range) and they can press a button to cause a temporary wall to come up for a few seconds.the wall doesn't damage survivors but it allows a killer the ability to trap in chase
