Frankly, all survivors need right now is more ways for survivors to communicate, or at least have a general idea of what everyone is doing. Survivors don't need to be faster or have better perks (though some of them are truly tragically useless, killers have their fair share of that as well) or more pallets.
Giving more information, even just the HUD icons the devs were thinking of, would go a long way without making the game mechanically imbalanced. =)
-
Always use it for "killer is camping", I didn't even know it had another meaning.
-
I don't have much more hours than you do (sitting at something like 310), and most of what you talk about ring true.
Dbd is a weird game in that it is very different depending on how you go about it. A lot of it is about attitude.
Some people want sweaty matches (or want to win at all costs and will then complain about sweaty matches), some people just want to enjoy the game. Some people find their fun in winstreaking with the most disgusting builds, some take the matches as they come.
The problem arises when all these players are matched together with absolutely no separation between competitive and casual.
As survivor, you don't get much choice in how the matches go, since unless you're in a 4-man you can't really set the tone of the game.
But as killer, you can find your niches where you play at a level that is enjoyable for you, and you can easily set the mood of the game. I tend to play very fair, since I don't mind taking a few losses, and survivors generally catch on that I'm not sweating and will be nice in return. Toxicity is an oddity in my experience of the game.
Unfortunately, I don't see a way of separating casual from comp that wouldn't hinder player's fun or be easily dodged by comp people wanting easy stomps.
-
It's also very common to make into a 3v1. Which the game is not balanced for.
-
The devs like to hold both of their children's hands at the same time =)
-
Definitely an anything-but-4-man-good-swf stomper.
I don't typically enjoy going against her, except that really nice spanish Plague I've been matched with a couple of times recently. =)
-
I really don't see toxicity often in this game, but I do see more frustrating behaviours in killers. Not BM by all perceptions, just frustrating and unkind.
I've been very lucky to mostly have well-mannered survivors in my killer games.
I've taken to always try and say something positive in the endgame chat for whoever is there if the game was fun and fair (which admittedly means more often when I'm killer than survivor), and I'm pretty happy with the results. Teams that destroy me generally have either encouragements or advices, and teams that didn't are often good sports about it when they see I'm not going to ggez them.
On the survivor side, I'm getting a lot of console killers recently, but the others that play fairly are a bit less responsive, maybe because they have their chat hidden. Expectedly, killers that give hatch are generally graceful in the endgame chat, killers that stomp don't answer often with more than a 'gg' or a simple thanks to a compliment, but killers in the middle are often a hoot joking around what happened ingame. Cenobite players will answer to "I came" jokes.
-
Same but for Hag ! I have never been happier than facing the 2 Hags I've seen trying out the Halloween outfit this past month, that's 2 out of 5 times in 200h of playing survivor these past 5 months !
But I'd settle for a Spirit tome :D She's really fun to play so I could get behind an excuse to play more of her :)

imagine complaining about a C tier killer that depends on survivors being bad to be Decent , also cough cought blights has 2 addons that increases the movement speed for each rush by 100% compared to legion and hes lethal while using their power, am sorry but get good buddy or hold W... , Oblivious barely does something against average survivors on most maps, also oblivious mess with killer instinct for legion, hiding survivors on your TR and thats pretty bad for tracking.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/N4MZ4T1PUQUW/image.png
2022 and still seeing people getting grab like this too... 🤦
Survivors not knowing how Legion works is literally the funniest ######### ever to me, since he's been my main killer for a while. Like, it's a bit mean, but when I'm against a Legion who's frenzying and I see my teammate go hide in a locker, I'm not even leaving my gen. The Legion gets a grab and then we're both like "they seriously hid in a locker huh" X)
-
With Kate and the Legion =)
I'm also very curious to see how Cenobite would be high off his arse !
-
I'd say Trapper, Hillbillly, Myers, and Artist.
I used to be interested but intimidated by Nurse, but I realized while giving her a go in custom that she gives me motion sickness anyway, so she's off my trying list.

Oh God this will take me forever to make. xD I'd rather just upload my gameplay as a Hag, or show it through a translation via Discord, but it's not going to happen.=)
I just want to say... That what I described in the first post might not work against an actual Hag main, they play differently, their traps placed hidden from line of sight and they uses "camera lock" as a weapon.=) They don't always teleport at the trap, they know when they need to teleport and when not to, and they uses only 1 trap at ANY loops, aside from the main building.
I didn't mentioned that Hag can play with Shackles... Then it's a whole another story...
Tho I might make another post when the bots comes out, so I'd make a screenshots how you should trap in different loops (1 trap only), and how you use "camera lock" in the best advantage.
It's alright, I don't want to take too much of your time haha !
If you ever put out more info on how to play her efficiently, I'll gladly read that, but I'll try researching more on my own as well. =)
Thank you !

I love bite the bullet
I just wish it activated while being healed too cause that is thematically the most sensable time to activate
Same !
I don't even think it would be that overpowered, considering the on demand silence is achievable with self-heals, situations where being healed silently would be too strong are quite niche in my opinion. I might be wrong though ! =)
-
I do agree that prestige should only be shown post-game, if ever.
Not only are a lot of killers dodging lobbies whenever they see high numbers (which is their prerogative), but it can make killers who don't more anxious to play, for an already stress-packed role. I got a P93 in my lobby the other day, and it was definitely nerve-wracking even if everything ended up going well (I did get destroyed, but not BM'd or anything bad).
-
Very informative ! I already knew most of it from playing as her but I didn't have much opportunity to pratice disarming the traps without flashlights, so thank you. =)
Do you have the opposite of this post, aka how to counter decent survivor when you're beginning to face them more often as Hag ? My sweet days of encountering survivors who'd almost never gone against her are dwindling and I'm facing more and more decent survivors who both know how to counter her and how to loop me a bit too well for my liking. I'm barely hanging on from 3gen defense most games.
I've tried going for more instadown perks, but that's not quite as efficient when I struggle to counter loops.
I don't have Franklin's (no Leatherface and no Shrine recently), so I'm mostly using a duct tape lethality build, with Corrupt, Haunted Grounds, Make Your Choice and Overcharge, usually with yellow teleportation range addon and yellow setting speed addon. I've also messed with Sloppy Butcher and Shattered Hope because I see a lot of CoH, but so far whenever I take it, no boon.
I'd love any advice if you think of any =)
-
Blessed be low-ish mmr, where busted maps are quite manageable. Some would dare say... balanced ! =)
-
I've been messing around with Bite the Bullet for the past week or so, I can't say it works all the time because you still have to know when is a good time to find a good corner (and what a good corner is), but it definitely saved my butt a few times, not even fully healing but for a 4 seconds old Iron Will with what remained of my medkit.
I'm running both CoH and Shadowstep with it, along with We'll Make It and a medkit. =)
I'm really starting to like this perk !
-
This is always so fun ! A shame the mori rework will take those away if it comes to pass...
-
I think it might mean that they've already left by the time you got to the endgame board. =)

And what exactly is the point of this Thread? You dont have to survive the Trial yourself, you just have to be alive while others are escaping. So you can be struggling on the Hook in second Stage while your team abandons you, you will still get the Challenge.
Or am I missing something completely?
That makes sense ! I think the point is that when reading the challenge, one might spontaneously misunderstand and think you need to escape as well. That's definitely what I thought when reading it !
So it is a bit fun seeing that they died but the challenge saying "survive" was still completed. =)
-
A well-rounded game then ! haha
Mine was getting the "3 survivors hooked in the basement at the same time" achievement after hooking the same AFK player twice on basement hooks.
-
I think Meg is one of the finer survivors, with all her perks being really fine as is - despite Adrenaline being frustrating when you don't see endgame.
There are plenty of bad or unpopular survivor perks, but Meg is not the character to start with in my opinion. Someone like Jane would deserve it more in my opinion =)
-
Most SWFs are not better at the game than their solo counterparts. Even with coordination, they don't have a significant difference in escape rates either in most cases. Casuals will be casuals.
-
RPD now is for me the same as RPD before : a huge maze I like neither as survivor nor as killer.
Well, with one redeeming aspect. It's a phenomenal Hag map.
-
Susie's lore is the most inconsistent in the game. In the original lore, she's the timd girl who never wanted to murder anyone. In her cosmetics lore, she's a merciless kid who'll stab people and steal their stuff.
Whoever writes the lore definitely doesn't know how to feel about her.
-
Please ! I really like her design, I think she looks really tough and cool, and I've even left my beloved Kate to play her for a while now. I'd really love if they gave her more cosmetic choices, because right now her best cosmetic (in my opinion) is the masquerade one.

Got a source to back this numbers up? The last developer statement we got was that SWF increased survival rates by pretty consistent 5% per extra member, with a full 4 man SWF having a solid 15% higher escape rate then soloQs.
Actually, SWFs do not have a consistent 15% higher escape rate. Not even 4-men.
What the devs said is that in the highest mmr, there can be 15% difference between solos and SWF. But in the vast majority of players, the difference is only a couple of %.
Here's the Peanits screenshot =)

No mad snipes. One or more of these chases is not a chase I guess, or it's another challenge that's bugged. I'll do the old reselect challenge and curse BHVR for wasting my time.
I'm super mad for you about that window shot with I'm All Ears. That would have been so clean !!
-
An impressive feat indeed !
-
Survivor is already the most discouraging and hard-to-get-better-at role. Even most SWFs are not that good.
So hard to enjoy... I mostly play survivor not to let my duo partner down, but my enjoyment level when I switch to killer is night and day.
Unfortunately, a lot share my experience, since killer queues remain long.
Hopefully in the near future the survivor role can actually grow to be more enjoyable and we won't need incentives to consider it. More players would partially fix the matchmaking issue and make more actually balanced lobbies and matches.
-
I personally really don't like the idea of more anime into DbD, but that's really because I tend not to like anime in general (even if I did watch SNK for the most part)
If there would be a second AOT chapter, I guess it would be more formalized than the first, but not to the point of modifying core mechanics such as maps. So probably a killer and suvivor(s). Considering two of the primordial titans have already been made cosmetics of killers, and most titans having roughly the same lethality (eat human = good), I guess it could be the Female Titan since it's one of the most iconic antagonists of the anime and one of the coolest looking. I could see perks relating to her ability to selectively cover her weak points, that could make killer insensible to stuns on a controlled basis. Maybe one more exposed perk because if not a literal titan, I don't know whom such a perk would fit.
(I personally think the Jaw Titan is one of the coolest looking but it's much less iconic.)
If the survivor didn't have a perk that actually fights back against the killer through whatever means (stuns or other, possibly new, mechanic) and an exhausiton perk, it would be pretty disappointing in my opinion.
I don't know how DbD would handle the size of the killer though, since the game is usually revolving around average-to-moderately-tall killers and does not have infrastructures that can let a 15meter tall creature walk through.
-
The problem lies in the layers. Genrushing is not a problem on every mmr bracket. In lower-mid, gens rarely get done. Gates are rarely powered and most escapes are from hatch, killer pity, or both.
At least in my and my friends' experience.

You can hold down the cancel heal button to avoid heals when downed if you don't want to be picked up. When this happens the prompt doesn't show.
Oh, I did not know that. thanks !
-
I think they might have made it a game of their own ?
I've had a few games with killers turned friendly where my friend still cheekily went for their hex totem. They fully expected to die for it, and when they did, it was "worth it =D".
-
I've just had the opposite bug in game, a claudette who was downed under hook and who I could not heal. The prompt simply did not appear.

First off, check what perks and add-ons people run. One time I got called cheater while using the perk Spies from the Shadows as killer (bird perk) that detects the exact location of a survivor when they scare a crow within 32 meters I believe (maybe 36)
I lilterally just got called a wallhacker ! It's a first for me haha ! On my first game as Nemesis no less. I was running I'm All Ears and Lethal Pursuer...
-
Teabagging bots. =)
I never BM in game, I don't find it fun making someone else's experience worse, but making fun of bots while my friend was trying the Knight gave us a good laugh.
More seriously, I'll probably use them a lot in the future to shake off rust or try out new killers. =)
-
I think keys and maps are a bit underrated, they do have some good uses. However, they have just as much of a stigma associated to them as flashlights. I will occasionally use maps when I feel like I could use some help finding gens but don't want to use Deja Vu.
I would use more keys, but unfortunately people perceive it as selfish and I don't want them to leave me to die or something.
-
The devs collected feedback on the PTB, and decided that there would be adjustments and another PTB to test those features before making it to live. =)
-
That's odd. You might want to report in the the Bug Report section !

How can they be naughty ? They look like the most innocent kitties in the world !! Surely this is a misunderstanding :P
Happy you like Hag, she's a favourite of mine as well <3
-
Welcome ! I'm more of a cat person, but that hamster looks like the goodest boy !
Enjoy your experience on the forums and on the game =D
-
I have never unhooked myself without Deliverance. Granted, I don't try often, only when trying to die on hook so my teammate gets hatch, but it has, so far, never happened. My luck goes elsewhere apparently haha !
-
I remember getting a hill on Coldwind a couple of times before, it's not super common but not rare either.
I've had similar moments of disbelief, my most recent being the Garden of Joy shack window being weirdly placed compared to other shacks.
-
Discordance is in pretty much all of my builds. It's just always so good knowing where at least half the team is !
-
Looks really good !
-
The second killer perk is literally Hangman's Trick without having to carry a survivor. With how many hooks there are per map, I don't think that would be very balanced, haha !
I could see the first survivor perk existing as a bandaid fix to tunneling but being extremely niche. It would probably only work with DS.

I mean in this example it's not really a cycle, it's the killer playing as fair as possible and getting toxicity in return.
But it is somewhat a cycle, since the people you'll show no mercy too weren't the ones who BM'd you. That's taking out frustrations on entirely different people, which might make them in turn think "oh, killers are such sweats, they deserve tbags"
It's a cycle that can hardly be stopped because it's not just about one match :/
-
Maybe you need to find your niche ?
I do agree that most of my survivor games are miserable, with probably something closer to 15 or 20% than 50% escape rate. I'm still bound to play this role because I can't let my duo partners down and make them solo Q.
For killer though, if you don't play exclusively to win, you can actually control your mmr pretty easily and find a sweet spot where you'll have fun without sweating too much. Once you're at it, you can give hatch or gate to the last survivor to prevent your mmr from growing too much (plus they'll be happy <3), and you'll sometimes lose, which should somewhat anchor you in the same spot where you're having fun without having to sweat. It's quite pleasant !

thats just you guys being good sports of the game. not every game is going to be like that. cant use 2 or even 4 games. tbh i think good data would be around 30 to 50 matches.
I know it's not representative, it was just an example to cheer them up. =)
Survivors being good sports like this is very common in my killer games though, and BM very scarce. In all my time of playing killer (which is nowhere near the thousands of hours people have here, I'll concede), I've only been "gg ez" once, and called a camper once. The rest have all either been silent or encouraging.
I know I'm an outlier, but maybe I should try and see how many nice people I run into for 30 or 50 matches ! =)
(It still would not be representative because it would only be on mid to low mmr depending on my killers, but it would be an interesting experiment!)
