Garden of Joy's building is notorious for being a great looping spot for good survivors. It does receive some changes in the next update, that shuld make it easier on killer.
It's probably a good idea to step out of those chases and put pressure elsewhere, at least for a while. Don't make them think you're afraid of those places either, or they'll just run there anytime they're chased. =)
-
Reassurance is extremely absent from my games. Practically no one plays it, and the times it is played I can't say it's a game changer.
I guess that's what we get when the answer to camping is a bandaid perk on an expensive licensed DLC.
-
I play the way I would like my opponents to play when I'm on the other role. That's just my general approach to video games.
I'm casual, I want to have fun, and for me that means playing relaxed and chatting with my opponents afterwards, win or loss. I've made several friends that way, and I'm very content with it. =)
-
It's just matchmaking working as intended.
You've made a 100 winstreak. Matchmaking is supposed to make sure you win and lose roughly half the time, putting you in front of increasingly good and organized teams, teams that want to win as badly as you do. Therefore, your winstreak inflated you mmr by a lot.
... Yet there is no mmr decay.
The game doesn't know when you're trying to win at all costs and when you're trying to chill after a few months of break. The only way it can balance your mmr is by escapes and kills. If you're now trying to play more casually, you'll need some losses (a good amount of them by the sound of it) to get back to teams that are not trying to win at all costs, like you were during your winstreak.
If you feel the need to tunnel and camp now to compete, that's your prerogative. However, it will probably only stagnate your mmr, which means trapping you in an mmr bracket where you will struggle to enjoy your games, and where your opponents are very "sweaty".
You might want to relax a little in your games, accept to lose a fair number of games, as to bring you back into the enjoyable side of DbD. =)
-
I'd love if the depips were removed as well. Grades are not used for matchmaking anymore, and depips often happens because of things outside of your control, like a teammate DCing or being hard tunneled.
-
There are always situations during which slugging is the logical play.
Generally playing fair makes for chill games, but sometimes stupid stuff happens and it results stupid situations.
Plus, some players DC for the most random reasons. I've had I don't know how many DCs just for playing Legion.
-
I actually think Third Seal is quite underrated. I used to play it a lot and it's a complete solo slayer, yet people don't tend to cleanse it, weirdly enough.
I used to run all (or at least, mostly) hex perks when I started out, my go-to build as a baby Hag being her base perks and Spies From the Shadows. I like the concept of stronger perks at risk of being destroyed, but as you've said, the problem is that there are many better perks at no risk.
Even Devour, which is arguably one of the best and most rewarding hex perks, is presumably getting destroyed when the finishing mori will be live.
-
This.
And also the option to choose not to get into a match quicker at the cost of matchmaking putting me in front of people above or beneath my skill level. I'd rather wait a full minute for a match than be put in front of a killer that has several k hours when I'm a beginner, and the other way around.
-
I'm on boad for a little Ruin and DS buffs. Maybe not all of your suggestions, but at least one of them each.
I used Ruin pretty often before, since I tended to play Hag with her base perks + a little aura reading, and I feel like the hex did get cleansed often enough. So it was by no mean uncounterable or that annoying. I feel like survivors are now much more annoyed by the Overcharge spamming I've regressed into.
-
I don't think killer should see if it's a swf until postgame.
As for survivor, I think there would be more information to share that would be more important as a feature. In most cases I feel like knowing you're queueing with a swf would not matter.
That being said, sometimes the situation just doesn't call for rescueing the last survivor, swf or not. When my teammates have a clear 3 man out (or even 2) that could snowball easily, especially if they're not good with tight rescues, I don't expect them to come rescue me. I tell my buddy to gesture at them to leave and I die on hook.

Been sticking with our main girl until I can practice other killers in bots when they come .
However with the last 10 games I've played only 2 have been atleast a 3k. The rest have been on horrid maps like cowshed , rancid, badham with absolutely no possible 3 gen from the very start.
I feel you !
The bots are coming very soon, it's gonna be so cool trying out lots of different killers.
Hopefully until then mmr does its magic, and the teams you're facing relax a bit ! ;D

How have your recent games been Hug ?
I haven't been able to play this week unfortunately !
Did a couple of Ghostface games last weekend, but nothing groundbreaking. I did try out Nemesis for a daily and got called a wallhacker for using I'm All Ears to get tentacle hits, which was quite funny. I do miss my twig lady, I'll try and have a few matches with her soon, or else I'll get too rusty =D
How have yours been ? =)

That is so hard to trap on the maps like Eyrie or Game because there is no grass...
In the Game you still can put them by the edges of the objects or doors and they will be a good traps, but in Eyrie of crows not only there is no grass, but you just have no idea how to place a traps outside of survivor's line of sight. It's just so hard to do. They will notice any trap and try to trigger it and instantly run away.
You just can't place efficient traps without having them be at the open for the eyes. Completely adds to the difficulty of the match.
I was playing so many times as a hag on that map... Holy hell, so many losses tho, never give survivors a chance to get a gen in the main building if you play as a hag. This is one way to lose quickly.
That's two maps I thankfully don't get often as Hag !
Some maps without grass can be good, RPD is phenomenal in my experience, and Meat Plant is manageable, but yeah, Eyrie sucks in that aspect.
I'll remember to protect the central gen next time I'm sent there, thanks =)

Any one sided advantage can be an exploit of a faulty game mechanic or hardware limitations like here.
Voice chat for example is basically an officially condoned exploit. (But is mostly grounded in the fact their they are unable to do anything against it)
Oh, so it's your own opinion, not an official statement. In that case, there should not be a problem discussing it on the forums.

First of all, hag doesn't have a "scroll wheel" addon. A quick Google search on the fandom wiki helps there.
Second, why would someone need to know how to use some exploit except to use them to get an advantage in a game themselves?
Has it officially been acknowledged as an exploit though ? I've never heard of it being frowned upon by the devs before, but I could be wrong.
-
The game gives me Eyrie every time I want to play Ghostface, so I'm not too fond of the map.
I strongly dislike Red Forest as well, but this time because unless I'm running range addons on Hag, 10 traps is miserable on such a big map. (I know Eyrie would be worse on Hag, but thankfully, the game does not hate me that much as to put me there when I'm queueing as her).

I'm talking about scroll wheel. Only a portion of the player base has access to it and not all of them use it. It changes how she plays. That should not exist. You cannot counter a Hag using scroll wheel.
I'm pretty sure you can. A comment above gave an example. Plus if you counter her throughout the game setting off her traps at the right times, she will scarcely benefit from scroll wheel.
As it stands, Hag is a bit of a solo stomper. But against organized teams, or solos who know how Hag works, she's really not uncounterable.
-
Hag has a billion counters, to the point where without being imbalanced or bad, she's so tedious to learn to play optimally that few bother to.
Fast teleport is fine.
-
The report button can be found by clicking on the escape/sacrificed symbol (I'm not entirely sure but I believe that you don't even have to click, simply being on the right part of the leaderboard should offer a thumbs up and down option), it should open a page where you can give a thumbs up to the player, or report them for various issues. Once you know it's there, it's actually really easy reporting someone even if they're anonymous mode !
As for uploading the file, the easiest way to go about it is to post it on youtube on privated, and link there in the description of the issue. =)
Don't get discouraged, reporting cheaters is a bit of a convoluted practice but once you know how to go about it it's much easier.
-
Creative ! I'll have to try out those, though I don't have all the perks unlocked :)

" ... and thats how the altruistic DC meta of today begun."
Jokes aside, both sides are affected by a DC and ruins the enjoyment of the match. If someone ragequits because they got found and downed in the first 35s of the match, this essential ruins the entire match for all 4 remaining players. If a DC happens at say the 3 gen mark, thats not different then getting a kill at that time and the ball is still on the table.
Giving everyone involved a fair share of the DCing survivors BP does sound about right. And lets not forget that BHVR is still working on the husk system ;D Honestly, this would solve so many problems, and maaaaaybe a future were DCing survivors are taken over by a bot is just two or three patches away.
Meh, I don't think it would make altruistic DCs happen. If the DC was early in match, sure, survivors would get a few more points, but that's nothing compared to the 7k they won't make from having lost a teammate. If the DC is late into the match, and the survivor's already been hooked a couple of times, it literally would give nothing since both unhooks already happened.
But yes, a husk system with bots would be much appreciated, even though they are not the brightest players at the moment.
I'd even be down for a voting system when after an early DC, all players can vote to just leave the match in a draw and queue up again. Or even have it end the game the same way killers do.
-
I'd be down for that. Gotta hate early 3v1s.
-
I'd be okay with that, provided if it gives points for all 3 theoretical hooks, it also gives points for the theoretical unhooks as well.
Games with DCs are, after all, extremely hard to win as survivor. Could use a point compensation, if nothing else.

[Endgame chat] 23:45 : "I GONNA kill you !"
[Endgame chat] 00:16 : "Will you marry me, and be the father of my futur chlidren ?"
🤣😍
More seriously, I think we are quick to judge someone based on his avatar, forgetting that behind it, there is someone who is in many cases a good guy.
In my team of survivors, with whom I SWF, there is one who tbag quite often at the exit doors; from the killer's point of view, he must look like the worst bastard; when in fact, he is a really nice person ... in fact, every time, I yell at him 🤣
True ! =)
My duo friend and I will often admonish our teammates in chat if they're being mean to the killer throughout the game, but when I play killer, I'm generally much more relaxed because I know I don't really care about teabags.
If anything, when a survivor teabags me at a pallet (which in itself is pretty rare, my survivors are well-behaved for the most part), I headbang at them while they do that, and it becomes akin to an running joke more than an insult. They tend to be pretty fun in chat afterwards.
However, that same duo friend takes the slightest mistimed crouch as a great insult to his honour, and will 100% tunnel the hell out of that player for the rest of the game (for better or for worse...). It gives him pretty colourful endgame chats, and feeds his idea that most survivors are bastards.
Good attitude, and remembering that your opponents are most likely random people trying to enjoy DbD, are definitely two keys to having a healthier experience in my opinion =)
-
As killer, I have run into multiple survivors that are higher-skill than I, and a lot of them have turned out to be very nice and encouraging in endgame chat when you're being nice as well.
Attitude really counts in DbD. By being respectful both in game and in the chat, you'll find a lot of survivors are actually not that bad. =)
I typically compliment the best looper of the team whether I'm beat or have won, or say how much I'm impressed if the team was really good as a whole, and the responses I'm getting are overwhelmingly positive.
I also had a hilarious chat the other day with the first message in the chat being "####### WALLHACKER !!" and the last "See you, have fun :)", both from the same player, as we cleared up a misunderstanding. =D

There is not really a "we" as in "are we trying to keep the game enjoyable for both sides or we just wanna go full on toxic?".
No one has real authority to police how others play, and in the end, how you go about playing killer is your prerogative. You don't have to align yourself to any trend.
The most players can do is act at their own scale in the direction they believe in. You'll find some people here who are actively trying to make their games enjoyable for both sides, playing fairly and being good sports, but you won't run into them the most often. It is a bit of a test of faith being a fair or friendly killer, since your efforts to make peace with the other side will always be ruined by the next tunneling killer your suvivors will encounter.
What I can say though, is that playing full on toxic only makes the games harder. By playing the game fairly, you might take more losses, but you'll face more balanced and relaxed teams, have good matches. Since you won't rise in mmr too quick, you have time to grow your skill. By playing "sweaty" or "toxic" as killer, you'll be sure to soon face higher skill survivors and be BM'd back, and you might encounter them quicker than you can adapt. Then, you truly won't have the choice left on how you want to play, not because survivors are overpowered, but because you built your empire on a single strat and aren't as good outside of it.
It's a red pill/blue pill situation, for the most part. =)

Is it nice to be the third survivor? No but I wouldn't say it's bad sport cause the killer clearly won the game but his 4k hangs on that stupid gamble mechanic that's called hatch.
I don't want to act super entitled but when I am down to one survivor and his team hasn't done the gens I should get all 4 kills I don't know how many adept got ruined cause the hatch is a little..... And spawns often near either the killer or the surv and I don't like losing a kill to something 100% out of my control
Bad sport doesn't mean it's not efficient or that the killer didn't win the game. It means they didn't care at the time about the other player's experience. Had this Mikaela been a bot, sure, that would have been unreproachable. But we're matched against actual people and a lot of players on both sides are quick to forget that.
Survivors also lose from things outside of their control. It's not specific to killer.
I'm pretty sure we already had the hatch&entitlement debate on another thread though, and neither of us could change the other's mind. A repeat of it is not necessary =)
-
It's not reportable, just bad sports.
-
Removing depips would already be a great start. It's not like the grade affects matchmaking anymore.
If there was a casual only mode, I'd definitely play it (hoping no sweat decides to prey on easy targets, which is already asking much from DbD players I think) but I'd miss the passive bloodpoint income each month from grade.
-
Poor sportsmanship and low empathy.
-
I'm probably the least competitive DbD player, yet I do have the most fun at Iri 1 (at least on survivor, on killer it's not as frustrating otherwise).
Only happened once so far, but not having to worry about depipping from being tunneled/having a teammate DC was great.
(I want to improve my grade for no other reason than the bloodpoint bonus :D)
-
I also get more killer dailies than survivors (which is good, I usually reroll those because they're not very interesting or way too hard). I feel like I have the Huntress and chainsaw-wielders dailies more often than others.
I've recently bought more DLCs so I'm starting to get dailies that are a bit more varied, but I already had Plague, Spirit, Pig, Ghostface and Clown for whom I rarely got dailies.
-
The idea that it was Meg's fault and the idea that it was tunneling can and do coexist. You could have played more kindly. You didn't have to, and you didn't. It's your prerogative.
But it is unsurprising that they felt mad at the tunneling. They should be just as mad if not more at the Meg. If I had been in their shoes, I would have definitely been bitter at her first and foremost, but I wouldn't have been endeared to you either.
-
I'm pretty sure the devs have said that this couldn't be done without making the game significantly more "pay to win" because people would want the one character that has the better base kit.
Right now, people tend to play characters they like the cosmetics of, and for all that can be said about Feng having a billion of them, there are enough characters with cool cosmetics right now that I rarely see a lobby full of identical survivors, which are a nightmare when you don't want to tunnel.
-
In my opinion it's only a problem when it's used to BM or to sweat a 4K.
I think you should not be able to trap someone in a game for 4 additional minutes where they can do absolutely nothing, just to look around for the last survivor who, if they're smart, are hiding for hatch. For this scenario specifically, I don't even want Unbreakable base kit. A "bleed out" key would be very satisfactory already to me, and would give the killer his hard earned sacrifice.
On that vein, I've seen killers slug the two last survivors just to leave them on the ground to wait out 4min, just to be bad sports (think a Wraith spamming his bell over the slugs for 4min straight, or any killer just following them around nodding).
This should go as well in my opinion.
In any other scenario that I can think of, slugging is fine.
-
Play for fun. Untangle the idea that only getting a kill or less means you're bad from your self esteem or your fun. Sometimes you're just outmatched, and that's okay !
I play killer to have fun, some would say overly fairly. I don't let my mmr rise too quickly by always letting the 4rth survivor go (or the last 2 if they were cute), and that places me in a sweet spot where games are not too hard, but I definitely take Ls from time to time, and since I play very fair my survivors tend to be very nice in return. It's a win-win situation !
So yeah, just... don't go in there expecting to 3k each match, but don't anticipate sweat either. Let the sweaty teams come and go, and you'll soon be against teams that let you grow your skill at a rythm that suits you better.
More to the point of the question, personally, my fun is wired to everyone's fun. My favorite moments on DbD as killer are cute interactions betwen killer and survivors, friendly games, and nice postgame chats. They're what makes me feel good because I know my opponents enjoyed the game as much as I did.
I don't play friendly all the time of course, but l'm definitely a more relaxed killer than any killer main I guess.

I said this because I know hag mains and hag mains that know hag mains and its the same opinion as this. Grigerbest's opinion from what I gathered is that of a survivor that doesn't play hag. And as someone that mainly plays survivor but also mains Hag, when I face hag, I see what my teammates are doing and its all the wrong things for the most part.
Especially when it comes to facing a hag that is not playing her right, I usually think, oh this will be easy and then I see my teammates running towards hooks and allowing the hag hook swaps.
A lot of this comes from the fact that players rarely see hag but others have heard their favorite content creators deem her as a very weak killer and so they get a confidence that lands them a loss in the game. While usually they would gen rush, they see a weak hag and think they can loop her and abandon the objective completely.
In that case I understand the misunderstanding a bit better ! I do believe they are a Hag main, not from their opinions expressed here but from past interactions. So they're not speaking about it from a survivor perspective, quite the opposite.
For what it's worth, I do play Hag regularly, and I've just about hit the stage where you're half the time against more coordinated teams (not necessarily SWFs, I don't believe, but people who know well how to counter her), and it does suck a bit. I know there are lots of strats very high skill Hag mains know that can still make her very powerful even against such survivors, but that's very niche knowledge that I have not yet incorporated to my gameplay.
I personally wouldn't mind a few buffs, as I have already expressed on this thread haha =)

It's a neat perk, I just wish it applied when your getting healed and had a linger effect for those times where you can't finish a heal. Like when you stop healing the silence lingers for 3 seconds or something like that.
It remaining would be busted, since you could heal half a second in chase and be quiet for a longer time. But I do agree that it should apply when someone else is healing you ! That's frustrating haha

Hag thrives on survivor mistakes. If survivors know what they're doing, the best hag main can't do anything.
There isnt a true hag main that will say that she doesn't need any buffs. Her needed buffs are not anything major or anything big. She has received no changes since 2018 and the game is different now. Hag mains on high MMR will tell you that they lose matches against survivors who know how to counter her power, and her power has a lot of counters, too many counters.
If you feel like hag is too powerful, you don't know how to counter her effectively.
I main survivor and the only killer I play is Hag. As a survivor, I mainly face hags that don't know what they're doing and 99% of the time, these hags get 3-4k, but not because she is too powerful, but because survivors make mistakes the whole game.
Just yesterday, I faced a hag as a solo player with survivors of higher prestige than me, 21 and 25, SWF with purple flashlights. And what happened, they died vs a hag that puts all her traps at the hook, a hag that never once kicked a gen. One could have survived if she had taken a hit while having endurance, but no, slow vaulting a window apparently seemed to be more appealing.
While playing hag, I more often than not face survivors that dont know what they're doing, or they're under the impression that hag is soooo weak and get cocky, basically throwing themselves at me and then they cry in end game chat.
If you need tips on how to counter hag, you know where i am
While I do agree with most of what you said, I don't think we should throw out phrases like "no true [Killer] main will tell you that..."
There are plenty of people on this game that play in different ways, with different standards, and with different opinions. If Grigerbest's way of playing is both enjoyable to them and apparently very efficient, then good for them ! =D They're entitled to their own opinion without anyone to doubt whether they're a genuine Hag main or not...
That being said, hope you have great next games <3
(Also give me your luck ! I've only seen a handful of Hags since I started playing, I wish I got one yesterday as well ! xD)
-
My girl Hag. I know people who main her at high level do true wonders, and I admire them a lot for that, but she's got a very sudden very steep learning curve once you reach mid mmr, that I feel prevents a lot of people from playing her. She's also significantly weaker to everything that is very meta at the moment : gen speed and fast heals. There are more counters to her power than there is typically to other killer's powers, and she is slow. I feel like she could use a very small glow up.
Probably the Twins as well. They're the other pretty unattractive-to-play killer, which I think make them a great contender for a little rework. I've only ever faced a couple, but they seemed a bit clunky to play. They'll be especially hindered if the basekit Unbreakable idea comes to live.
I think Freddy needs a little love too. I see him somewhat frequently, and frankly they don't do so bad, but that's mostly on my and my teammates being quite bad, probably.
Nemesis could specifically need a little buff to his zombies.
Clown could get some more use out of his yellow bottles, I know they're part of his kit but I almost never see them being used.
-
I mean I'd start with his character portrait but sure the cosmetics yeah !
-
Please, for no other reason than that I didn't bother to get my adept Hag before 6.1 and now it's not possible against most lobbies I see haha

Every killer has addons that are powerful, but you cant make a killer slower because of addons that they have. Talking basekit, her being slower is a hinder.
At this stage of the game, hag wins a lot because people dont know how to counter her properly. As a hag main, I can make hags chase me until they give up, while I see other survivors make a lot of mistakes.
If a survivor knows how to face her, she is not powerful at all. Even bad hags win the game just because survivors make bad decisions, not because of her power being overpowered
I agree. At this point, I'm pretty sure if you buffed her speed a bit, for a short time her killrate would go up, but since more people would play her (presumably), more people would know how to counter her (and god does she have a billion counters), and it would balance over time.
Though to be fair, at this point I'd trade mint rag for basekit speed. I don't use the addon anyway. Give her 4.6, and make mint rag nerf her to 4.4. That would buff every other situation than her being op...
I love her to bits, but some days it's hard
-
No matter what some parts of the community make it, DbD is not a competitive game by nature.
It lacks the boundaries that would make it competitive and fair, so the default is, for lack of better term, casual/random. The reason it feels like it is or should be competitive is the players who make it so.
Whether that be by policing how others should play (the "you should always try to win at all costs and playing in any other way is akin to cheating" comes to mind, and on the other end, the survivor rulebook), by defaulting to the strongest/most "meta" things they can (aka this community's obsession for tier lists), or promoting the mindset that self-worth = wins only (I'm thinking for example the obsession for winstreaks, but also people here defaulting to assuming the win ratio of random people they're arguing with).
Generally, I think the better people do at the game, the more they want their prowess to be acknowledged, even though competitiveness might not be the core of the game. The content creators did not, in my opinion, help with that mindset.
But all of that is only my opinion =)
-
4.6 m/s Hag is literally my dream. When survivors know how to counter you, you become literally worse than m1.
-
I play the same way, not to 4K every match but just to have fun. I commonly give either hatch or gate to the last survivor, and play very fair overall. Not only am I in a sweet spot where I can still win without resorting to sweaty strats or perfect loadouts, but the survivors usually notice the way I'm playing and are generally very nice both in game and in the endgame chat, whether I won or lost. =)
I do have some killers I'm less likely to mess around with and do try to really get better at, but even then I can't bring myself to be too tryhard. If in a game I notice that I would have to tunnel or camp a survivor to win, then the survivors deserved the win in my books. I'll try and get a few more hooks but I'm 100% okay with losing, because we'll all have had fun and that's what's important to me. =)
