Right on all with exception to: Clown, Trapper, Hag and Nemesis. Doctor in particular has no issues I've noticed, and along with wraith, unknown, Demo, Artist, and SM, is very stable and bug free.
Clown has 1 annoying but thankfully RARE bug wherein sometimes when you throw a bottle, it just explodes in mid air right as it leaves your hand, but that sometimes works out in your favor, so it's not that bad.
Trapper Would be great, except right now, there seems to be a server Desync issue with his traps. Sometimes survivors are vacuumed to traps they see as being passable, which works out for him, but other times they waltz right over a trap and it doesn't trigger, even if on the killers screen, there's no possible way it wouldn't nab a survivor. Until they fix this desync issue, his traps are really unpredictable.
Same goes for Hag, but along side the desync, there's also the long left uncorrected bug with her wherein she teleports to a trap and has a brief pause before she can move, giving survivors ample space to avoid getting hit. This bug has been a part of her since back around the midchapter patch before Dredge came out, and hasn't ever been corrected, leaving her in a pretty unviable state.
And of course there's Nemesis… Nothing wrong with his main Whip power or infections, but his zombies are super buggy. They get stuck on literally nothing, Their pathing and detection is all messed up making sound queue perks the only viable means of detection for them, and sometimes when they spawn they just don't move, as if they got stuck in their spawn position. Honestly with all the improvements they've made to survivor bots, you'd think the devs would pass some of the code over to the poor zombie, they're totally unreliable, and if it weren't for their 6m audible range, survivors would never get surprise hit by them.
Hag's add-ons are also bugged. Also if the survivors are looking back when they trigger a trap, they don't get the camera flick and Hag can't hit them even if she teleports immediately to the trap
-
hag was last upgraded in 2018, and since she has only received nerfs (e.g. allowing survivors to wipe away traps) and bugs. mint rag that is on the roaster in shuffle mode is completely bugged. every time i get mint rag in shuffle, i know i need to play as an M1 killer without a power because 90% of the time with mint rag, i end up teleporting to the wrong trap. not the trap that was triggered but some random trap. its ridiculous
-
as an ex-hag main (havent played this game since hag's "buff", i was summoned after hearing that the 2v8 mode excludes hag despite her being one of the first killers 🙄), she needs to be either fully removed from the game or completely reworked. new killers get multiple powers, meanwhile hag only has lousy traps that can easily be avoided, destroyed and countered, everything about her is either meh or wah. After the flashlight nerf to hag, and yes it is a nerf imo, the last "buff" was really just to pull over a wool over the player's eyes, nothing has changed
-
Agreed except Demopuppy gets a notification that his portal is being destroyed, and he has the ability to teleport through it as it's being removed and stop survivors from completing the process. Hag can't do either.
I personally refuse to play her, but I faced her twice now as survivor and was able to single-handedly destroy her. I actually gave up on wiping her traps in one of the games because I had a Steven with Urban who made it his goal to remove her web. The killer gave up that match and went in a corner AFK
Just as I predicted would happen.
Hag is now only powerful against survivors that don't know how to face her or wipe her traps.
-
I'd suggest not relying on adrenaline so much. Seeing how the game is ever-changing, it's not a good idea to rely on any perk too much. Also, many killers complain about this perk and it is being overused by survivors, so I sense it will be changed soon.
Depending on the situation, I may 99% a gen if someone is getting chased and they're in deep wounds. I wait until they mend if I notice that other survivors are around the chased player, so they can get a health state up, assuming they have adrenaline, and seeing how the game is right now it's about 90% certain they have it.
Most recently I 99% a gen because I knew the killer had Rancor. I was the obsession in the beginning of the match, but it changed to another survivor that was getting chased while I was on the last gen, so I waited until they weren't being chased anymore to give them a chance to survive.
About the gates, there are many situations where 2-4 min is not enough. It's best to not have a timer looming over your head. There may be a situation where a save is possible but risky because the timer is almost up and teammates may not even try to save the person.
It also prevents Blood Warden. You never know when a killer might have that perk, and it won't work if the gates are not open.

Its literally right there in front of you, you just refuse to see it.
Custom = casual
Queue = Competitive.
MMR is there for a reason so that you can have more balanced and fair matches (in theory) why would you have that in a "casual" game? If it was meant to be a casual "party" game it wouldn't have matchmaking that does that. Do you think Mario party queues you up with people using MMR?
I can't tell if you're serious or trolling. I've explained it plain and simple in the previous comment tho :)

When i go into the game, this is what i see:
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/6013G8U4PQ0X/image.png
Playing as killer
Playing as survivor
Tutorials
Battle Pass
Custom Games
Store
Leaving out the obvious ones that aren't games we have:
- Play as killer
- Play as survivor
- Custom game
Playing as a killer or survivor takes you to the screen that lets you queue up. This queue uses MMR/elo in order to match you with appropriate teammates and opponents so that you have a mostly balanced and fair game. Winning makes that MMR go up, losing makes it go down making your next match more fair based on those wins and losses. (in theory). If this mode wasn't competitive, then there would be no MMR.
The "casual" game mode here, is the custom game, that lets you play with your friends, add any restrictions, pick the map, invite specific people to the game. This mode has no MMR or matchmaking, and is meant to be the "casual" mode that you can play with friends and/or bots.
Queueing up is the competitive mode, and customs are the casual mode.
I don't see Arena or Competitive in the screenshot.
Custom game is coop queuing, basically. You're inviting people from your friend list. You're not queuing with random people. Additionally, and ironically, tournaments in DBD are hosted in Custom game.
When a game doesn't offer an official competitive mode, it only has casual.
MMR or skill based matchmaking is used to put you up with teammates and opponents of similar skill, experience, stats, so that, for example, you as someone who has been playing and winning consistently for 1000 hrs don't get paired with someone who is brand new to the game with 2 games on their account and 2 hours of game time. MMR is used both for casual and competitive queues.

Overwatch :
Small team sizes, check.
Refill during casual matches, check.
Leaver penalty in non casual matches check.
Cod:
Small team sizes, not the last time I played. Ergo individual DC less impactful.
+ Refill during casual
Battlefield:
Even bigger team sizes making DC even more neglectable.
+ Refill during casual
Apex/Fortnite:
Mostly free for all battle royal with separat solo/duo or team queue. Ergo less potential of teammates DCing when going in team and DC in solo are completely irrelevant since everybody else is also solo/duo.
All your examples are inadequate to compare to DBD since they all have measures to lessen the impact of DCs (refill) or the impact is already close to nonexistent (CoD, Battlefield). And the free for all battle royal Genre is the worst to compare DBD with to begin with, in my eyes.
Other examples of games i have played where DCs either have alternative measures in place or straight up get punished even in casual queue:
Rainbow six siege:
Team size small, check.
Refill in casual, check.
Penalty in ranked, check.
Rocket league:
Small team size, check.
Refill in casual, check. + Bots!
Penalty in ranked, check.
League of Legends:
Small team size, check.
Refill in casual, nope. Straight up multiple 5/15 minute matchmaking timeouts.
Penalty in ranked, check.
So DBD remains one of if not the only popular/big pvp game without any measure against DC or to lessen their impact. And therefore needs the DC penalty for casual games like league of legends.
Your information is mostly inaccurate, and I didn't give those games as an example. They were initially given by someone else. Regardless, I can't discuss detailed information on this for personal reasons

Well, apparently you comment was deleted.
Multiplayer games can't allow the dc's this game does because it ruins it for every single other person. Every other game that allows it is an arcade game that can just fill in other players for the people that dc. That's not viable in dbd(for the player the would be filled in) and if that's not viable than DCing should be far more heavily punished.
Self unhooking(XDDDDDDDDDDD) is even worse because survivors essentially just get a free out with no punishment(something very common in all of my survivor matches right now). People DCing vs wraith who isn't tunneling several games in a row, just imagine being that person LMAO.
Your tome, your challenge, your internet and your personal fun is below the need for games to be played out consistently or the game WILL die. I can guarantee you that the biggest reason for survivors leaving the game right now is due to other survivors not playing the game.
Your comment was the one that got removed, mine was a response to your comment, but anyway, as I said in my original message (which btw is still up), most games don't ban you for DCing unless you're playing competitively which you aren't in DBD.
Most other games either don't punish you at all or punish you if you don't forfeit. There is no forfeit option in DBD, unless you count giving up on the hook, which is not a viable option since you get other survivors forcing you into staying in a match as well as the killer sometimes. Some games allow you to DC and X amount of times before they give you a matchmaking ban, because guess what, there are countless reasons why one would want to disconnect, and unless there is evidence that it's being abused, they don't ban their players.
People play games to have fun, they play multiplayer games to have fun. If they are not having fun, they will leave. I don't understand your logic of punishment. Punish players because they're not having fun or because they're experiencing an issue with the game or connection, or because they're facing hackers, or farmers, or are being body blocked, etc.? Other players are not responsible for your fun, you can't expect your teammates or killer to cater to your fun, they only care about their own fun. No other player has an obligation to offer you a good time. If a match to you is ruined because someone took their leave, then leave too or make the most of it and move on. You can't control other players, and punishing them only hurts the game itself.
I also don't see your logic that the game will die if people leave matches. When they leave, they start another match. In fact, giving a matchmaking ban to players for leaving may cause them to leave the game altogether. Let's say your teammates are sandbagging you, the killer is helping them, farming with them, and you just want to play normally, but you're forced into the match. You decide to leave and let's say that is the 5th time this happens, and you get a 24-hour or 3 day matchmaking ban (theoretically, of course). Now, you can't play the game for 3 days, now imagine how many other players are in the same or similar situation.
Every game developer's goal is to have players in a game as quickly as possible, preventing players from playing hurts the game, not disconnecting. Players that disconnect likely just want to move on to another match, therefore they are consistently playing the game.
The game needs a better forfeiting option or lesser punishments because, yes, people would and will abuse DCing if there is 0 punishment. My point is to only punish those who evidently are abusing this, not the average Joe that might disconnect every now and then.

It's not a ban, it's a time penalty, that's an important difference.
"If you don't like that people are leaving, perhaps coop games are better for you"
I totally agree. If you want to do any challenges or tomb achievements, then you should consider doing them in a coop game (swf), because the chances of success are better here.
"Something I don't understand is why the Devs removed the compensation players would get when someone DCed. Back in the day, if someone left at 5 gens, the gen amount the rest needed to do was 4 or 3. I fail to remember .I know it was 1 gen if you're the last one.So for example, if 2 people leave at 5 gens, the gen amount that would need to be done by the rest to power the exit gates changed to 2 or 3. That gave a bit of hope to the rest of the players in the match to win. I don't know why it was removed"
This was before the endgame mechanics were added. At that time, matches where only 3 survivors were connected to the game were finished and not canceled immediately. Therefore, the number of generators was adjusted accordingly. Ongoing adjustment of generators etc. during gameplay if a player DC'd never existed.
It's a matchmaking ban, not a timeout. It's not kindergarten, you're not a naughty child. Look up what a matchmaking ban is if you're not sure

With that last part, I think if Behavior changed it so that, in moments where you hit a Survivor mid vault, he slaps them with his tentacle and they go down, using the same animation for when he hits someone who has Endurance.
If only... it's not the reality.
Watch "Dead by Daylight 2023.04.08 - 01.57.47.03.DVR_Trim" on Streamable.I know it's a valid hit, my character is still at the window when he comes charging, but why should I be teleported to his side of the window. It looks weird, doesn't it?
Mika's lil hand on the window, and I took the second screenshot because he looks like a little cowboy. Yeehaw!
-
The issue I have with Mr Whiskers is that his hit boxes are inconsistent or rather the objects on the map have weird hit boxes and very often when he smashes you, you're being smashed into thin air.
Auto aim seems a bit too strong on him too, not just aim as in hitting the survivor, but how the game is actively seeking an object to smash you on even when it would naturally be inaccurate. Oh, here is a teeny tiny rock, boom your character's entire body is smashed into it and you take damage. Or your character is moving in a straight line away from objects...seemingly, and you think it won't be a hit, but nope, Whiskers will smash you into, and sometimes even inside the wall 1 meter to your left. You're no longer in a straight line in the middle of nothing, you are now moved to the left into a wall. It's not the Beyonce experience you'd imagine.
I don't know if I'm even explaining it right, but hope it makes sense. This is in certain situations of course, but with him even more with Huntress, I get the feeling "well, that should not have hit" or "how does that hit exactly"
Another issue he experiences is that sometimes, he throws you to Narnia, he remains in his position and your character falls on their back and it takes damage, or the opposite, he completely skips his whole smash animation and directly slaps you like as if he is M1-ing you except you get sick with the leech or whatever his sickness is.
Oh and :) another one, I don't like that his animation is prioritized when vaulting. It's looks wonky and weird. My animation is cut short, and I'm being teleported. Ok it's a hit, I can accept that, but I don't appreciate my character teleporting from one side of the window or one side of the pallet to the other. It can cause you to lose chases sometimes, not good.

That's your point of view. Mine is that I'm stating facts and you're spilling out words. There is enough evidence on YouTube from creators who played the game at that time. That's proof. And if you really dig around, you will probably find patch notes too.
Even before my break from the game, the devs changed the survivor movement. Proof is somewhere in the patch notes. They made it harder to 360 and now it's again different.

Again, the movement it self hasn't changed. Moonwalking, 360's, and all other fun movement techs are still the exact same as before.
What has changed, are Survivor animations. These were all updated in late 2020 and early 2021.
There not. I've played before and I'm playing now. I see it and I feel it. There is no point going back and forth because my mind will not change on this.
There are also plenty of videos on YT especially from the known loopers. Check their spinz from 2017-2019 and compare them to now

Do I have to do the Konami Code to be this intentionally disingenuous?
You're making it more difficult than it is. In simple terms, if no competitive mode, then only casual

You can't see your characters face anymore because they changed the model of generators and their animations
I've been playing consistently over the last 6 years, the only time that it has ever changed was back in 2020 when they changed movement and everyone made a fuss over it, so they reverted it
I didn't play in 2020. I played in 2017 to the beginning of 2019 and again since 2022. I have recordings from that time with the different movements, but they're buried somewhere in an external drive where all recordings go.

They aren't saying 360 should be bannable, I think I know what they're saying, it's just not worded the best.
I think what they mean is on console, a survivor can spin you out of control very easily because of DPI settings and they can run into the killer which makes the screen go weird
bit nopers here. did we read the same thing?
I will paste it for you
"360 spun to abuse Field of View esp. vs console killers."
"These honestly should be reportable and bannable. It's considerably too easy to abuse these exploits."
I've seen plenty of console players do great with the spinz, so it's more of a git gud situation
-
@Shroompy said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3411798#Comment_3411798
The only reason why it worked back then was because the majority of people didnt know how to deal with a spin
the changes to survivor movement were reverted, all that remains are the animations
Nope or not 100%. If you played consistently over that period, maybe you don't see or feel the difference, but as someone who took a nearly 3-year break from the game, the movement is not the same as it used to be. Spinning is not the same, moon walking is not the same, you can't even see your character's face anymore.
I was collecting these
-
I don't go below 60 ping
I get scummy hits because the killer usually has better ping than me and their actions take priority over mine
-
Mika needs more neutral outfits. She has a lot of things that don't go well together. I need more casual neutral things to mix and match without her looking like she is a 5-year-old that went into mommy's closet. Jeans would be nice. She had ones in a rift but I missed em. Nice shorts without right red or evil pink.
-
@Firellius said:
There should be more survival scoring events, escaping is waaaay too big of a chunk and there's no other way to fill that category up.
Escaping doesn't fill the category all the way
-
No. Back in the day, yes, because the survivor movement was different and 360ing would almost always guarantee a missed hit. It was also much easier same as moon walking, which the devs decided to make 10 times harder to do. Nowadays, it's much more difficult and usually works on console players. That's how I can tell if the killer is on console. If they can't do the spinz fast enough.
It can work on PC players too, but it's harder to get them to fail a hit.
Often they stand still while I do the spinz until my wrist gives up and then they hit and I just look stupid.
It's a risky move with low success rate. You can do other things than the spinz
-
It's a multiplayer game and many people don't want to go through a match for many reasons, whether that'd be the map or the killer or the teammates, or maybe they get into a server with 200 ping for no good reason, or they want to do a challenge but know it'd be impossible in that match, and they don't want to waste their time, etc.
Most other games don't punish you for leaving, unless it's a competitive match, tournament or event. Since there isn't an official competitive mode in DBD, it doesn't make sense to ban someone for leaving a casual match.
Yeah, sure you can give up on hook, but isn't that like DCing except it takes a bit longer?
You also get the annoying teammates who will drop everything and even get downed, just to hold you in the match and save you while you're trying to give up on hook. And then woah, you're still in the match you want to leave because another survivor decided it to be that way and woah you need to waste even more of your time even get frustrated. Oh, and now the killer won't want to hit and kill you because how dare you not want to go through a match in a multiplayer game. Bonkers!
The options to leave are not great and I understand that some people would abuse it if there is 0 penalty, but if there has to be a penalty it should be for X amount of times you DC in an X time period.
If you don't like that people are leaving, perhaps coop games are better for you. You can't control random people in a multiplayer game. If you feel that your matches are ruined, make the most of them and move on, or leave too and move on.
Something I don't understand is why the Devs removed the compensation players would get when someone DCed. Back in the day, if someone left at 5 gens, the gen amount the rest needed to do was 4 or 3. I fail to remember. I know it was 1 gen if you're the last one. So for example, if 2 people leave at 5 gens, the gen amount that would need to be done by the rest to power the exit gates changed to 2 or 3. That gave a bit of hope to the rest of the players in the match to win. I don't know why it was removed

That worked only if you fixed all 5 gens. That one was the least busted part of keys. Real busted thing was taking 3 BNP's hatch offering and single key - no matter what if killer killed 2 people, the other 2 were guaranteed escape at that point (franklin's or some very sneaky key camping excluded - still this was very unfair).
It's good that hatch/key was changed in this regard. The problem is, that they just removed it and called it a day. Like removing 97% of item and considering it good to be still in a game is.... Stupid I think
I left the game before the hatch offerings existed and having all survivors leave through the hatch, especially with randoms, was a great challenge. There was an achievement even.
I don't see why the hatch can't be available for multiple survivors if all gens are done and the gates are open. Would make keys useful and add that achievement again
-
Ah the good ol days when all 4 survivors could escape through the hatch
Keys used to be worth it esp when you wanted to escape early ;)
-
Usually when 2 survivors are left, it's best to give up. If you or the other survivor are really good at keeping chase and there is one gen left, there is hope, otherwise no.
If the killer finds you first, then leave the hatch for the other survivor, vise versa.
Even that depends on the situation.
If the other survivor has been doing bad during the match, not being productive, 2 hooks on them whilst you have been doing great, being productive, having lots of points and no hooks on you, then you should try to get the hatch yourself. Heck, you deserve it. Vise versa, if you feel your teammate has been doing a better job and deserves the chance to escape, let them.
There is no point keeping the game longer than it should if the chances of both of you escaping are low. Like being 2 people with 4 gens.
And I'm not saying tank the match. If the killer finds you and you are 2 people with 4 gens, give the killer a chase and if you fall, give up on hook. Who knows, maybe a miracle will happen and you will do a 10-min chase and your teammate will be productive.
Usually the other survivor will try to hide away in lockers, on the edge of the map, the basement and will wait for you to die. If the match is taking too long and you can't do gens, I say give up.
Let the basement rat try to get the hatch.
Unless you're petty, then you know 😉 Bond is a great perk

Imo they should get rid of blight's hugtech because its very broken. at times i feel like he is the strongest killer ( even surpassing nurse ) because of it.
That sounds like a bug with Whisker. It makes more sense for him to vault the pallet/window, instead of your character being teleported from one side to the other. It can also give Whisker a free down in some situations. Or if it should be a hit, then okay, but again, your character shouldn't be teleported to his side

DH is fine, Medkits should be reverted, COH should provide self-heal with a cooldown. If you heal yourself, you cant do it again for a said amount of time or you can heal yourself 3 or 5 times throughout the match. I think it's important for soloQ survivors to have a healing option that won't take 60+ seconds

I experienced this too, but I think we need to complain more about the window hitboxes and how certain killer's animations take priority over your vault animation. I cannot count the times, I vaulted a window and Whisker not only stopped my animation when it was nearly completed, his animation teleports my character on his side of the window. I think that's stupid. Okay he hits me, but why should I be teleported to him instead of continuing since my character was already on the other side?
Similar is Blight and how his animation also takes priority and even if your character is fully off the window, you will still get hit because the animation is not fully done and according to the game your hitbox is at the window.

Do you have a major issue with that? Personally, I've rarely encountered players who just won't heal you.
Yes, most of the time, actually. I get trolling survivors

The biggest issue for me is that soloQ survivors are punished. Taking away the self-heal option for survivors is not fair to soloQ. You're being forced to depend on random survivors, who likely will refuse to heal you just because they can.

Must be aura perks.
Survivors are so used to hide away from Gen when TR starts, and No where to hide show their aura after kicking the Gen.
Darkness reveal you anywhere on the map because of lockers everywhere.
On my case, Rancor.
Aura perks don't increase lunge or speed.
Aura reading perks are common tho. The strange part happens when killers know where you are in situations where the aura perk doesn't work, when there is no aura perk/add-on, when you have Off the Record active, or Distortion and you're not losing tokens, yet the killer knows where you are without scratch marks, noise, etc.

My frames were capped to 30. Have you played a game with 30 FPS?
My PC isn't the best, but it's not a potato.
I don't know why it was capped at 30, but the game settings don't allow you to change FPS.
Not only that, but VSync is also On by default, and a lot of players don't want that. It also doesn't help the fact that my monitor is not 30 Hz to justify the FPS cap.
I had to uncap, so the game is playable.
