That is honestly hard to believe... how do you reach a game like dbd without watching horror media?

I actually found this game because it was on sale on Steam and appeared on the front page. I'd never played a game like it before, and I was never one for horror games either! Bought it because it looked like a fun co-op game for my brother and I to play.

  • I would've liked to see Demo-doggo... very sad...

  • Demogorgon is my favorite Killer, and I've been striving to "get good" at him, so I'm right there with you! 😎

  • It's not a bug, Pyramid Head's cages don't count as hooks so nothing that involves hooks interacts with them, including WGLF!

  • Non-stretched:

    Stretched:

    Stretched chain.jpg

I took these during the Silent Hill release event last year. I reported it with plenty of evidence of an actual difference and they have done nothing about it... over a year later. It literally allows you to see more than you're supposed to normally. The chain is floating in midair from being able to see more than you should. Ridiculous

I really need to change my steam name to it. I just don't want people to come on here and harass me because I did something they don't like.

Don't worry friend, I've had my Steam and forum names match for almost a year now and I've never had someone hunt me down! Go for it!

  • It's done the same thing on Nancy's middle charm slot since her release too...

  • That happens normally because the Dwight that you play in Survive with Bots is literally your Dwight, not a seperate character. Since it's changing his clothes for the tutorial and Survive with Bots, it's changing them in your normal game as well. Same thing happens to Trapper

  • Screenshot_10.png

I can't believe people think Feng's rework looks bad...

Not allowed to show names here under any circumstances.

    Actually...

    Screenshot_1.png

According to the forum rules, it's okay to show names as long as it's not putting them in a negative light.

  • I understand that people are wanting to be nice to the lower ranks that they're getting paired with, but the best thing you can do right now is to just thoroughly stomp the players you're up against. That way, the MMR can actually see that you're doing too well against lower ranks and try and put you up against higher ranks where you belong. I myself played three Pyramid Head games, easily beat the tan/green ranks I was up against, and then my games after that were against actual red ranks like myself.

I know it feels bad to stomp newer players, but it has to be done to actually calibrate your MMR properly. If you just keep being nice to lower ranks and not playing your best, it'll think that you SHOULD be against the lower ranks.

  • It is pretty silly how people can go behind the chest to take out the item, when you can only search the chest from the front and not the back! I don't see it too often in my games, so it's probably more of a lower rank thing, but it still can be annoying nonetheless.

And I've actually only seen the healing item drop once, but that does sound annoying as well. Not sure what they could do about that, though.

(and what is with these people being so rude? People complain about much more trivial things on here...)

  • More Quentin clothes, please 😍

So you think the spirit has more counterplay than the nurse? Can you elaborate?

    Of course!

To begin, Nurse technically has zero counters (except rushing gens to end the game as fast as possible, and a good Nurse can snowball easily and stop that). There are no perks that actually counter Nurse, unlike Spine Chill and Iron Will to counter Spirit. Dead Hard really isn't even a counter to Nurse, because it only buys you a little bit more time, or none at all (Nurse can wait after a blink and lunge-attack further than Dead Hard's range).

So, while Nurse can go through pallets, windows AND floors (Saloon, The Game, Hawkins), Spirit already loses in that aspect. She still has to mind windows, pallets, and can't teleport though floors or obstacles. Spirit is also hard-countered by Iron Will, since she mostly relies on hearing to catch Survivors with her power, and Spine Chill also lets you know if Spirit is heading in your direction while she's phasing. And yes, Stridor works well with Spirit, but it still is hard to play against Iron Wills with Stridor.

Also, Nurse's power only takes 3 seconds per blink to recharge (1.5 seconds with double recharge addons!), while Spirit's power takes a whopping 15 seconds to recharge (and if I calculated correctly, it can only be lowered to 10.7 seconds with double recharge addons). Also, Spirit's power can only be used once the meter is full, while Nurse doesn't have to have both blinks ready to use her power.

And finally, map pressure. Nurse is a 3.85 speed Killer, but can take range + recharge speed addons to help her traverse maps more efficiently (I myself don't use range addons but I can see how they would help), while Spirit is a 4.4 speed Killer with a power that can help her traverse the map, but takes forever to recharge... unlike Nurse's blinks. Not to mention that Spirit's power gives audio cues throughout her phasing, letting you know how close she is to you. Nurse does give audio cues when she blinks, but it doesn't matter too much when she just blinks on top of your location. Plus, Nurse always has vision when using her power, and Spirit does not.

The reason that people say Nurse is not as powerful as Spirit is because most Nurse players are bad. The times that I've played against good Nurses have been brutal, and they wipe my entire team in minutes. I played against a red rank Nurse on Fractured Cowshed who decimated my team with ease, using a recharge addon and range addon, and all of the tricks that people claim to work had no effect. Run towards her? She'd just cut the blink short and hit you anyway. Make distance? She'd use one blink for positioning and then the second blink to land on top of you. There was no counterplay possible. I also played against a decent Nurse on the Chapel, and even though she wasn't great at Nurse, she was using double recharge addons and was able to catch you just by spam blinking.

As I said before, I'm a red rank Nurse main and I actually play Nurse just to have an easy game, because Survivors really can't do anything when you use Nurse's blinks properly. I used to pick Nurse against SWF teams just so I couldn't be bullied! I've also played quite a bit of Spirit in red rank, and, honestly, the only reason that Survivors die so easily to Spirit is because they're extremely predictable. They don't use structures and windows, they run out in the open for no reason, and they don't even try to mindgame when Spirit is using her power. I think that if more people would actually dedicate the time to learning how to play against a Spirit, they would have better games against her.

I would also like to mention that you can hear Spirit's footsteps while she's phasing, and they're loud as heck... πŸ˜›

Sorry for the wall of text, but I really did want to elaborate as to how Spirit has more counterplay!

  • I love using Lightweight and Windows of Opportunity! Out of those two, I'd say that WoO is more useful, but Lightweight has been a favorite of mine since the beginning 😊

For Killer, I'd say that Make Your Choice is one of my favorite perks. I get good use out of it on many Killers since I don't camp, but I'll definitely return to the hook if I have nothing better to do! Monitor and Abuse is also fun to use!

  • @HollowsGrief said:

Spirit is fine, she is strong but not unbeatable. Killers should make you struggle to escape, besides I for one don't find her unfun to vs.

Exactly, she really isn't busted like people make her out to be... and at least she has COUNTERPLAY (unlike Nurse)... not to mention that Spine Chill and Iron Will are great counters to Spirit.

I think if more people played against good Nurses, there would be far more complaints against her than Spirit. I myself am a red rank Nurse main, and I know how helpless one feels when playing against a good Nurse.

People call Spine Chill and STBFL crutch perks? Lol.

A red rank Nea in one of my games last night said that STBFL was a crutch perk and "artificial skill"... πŸ˜‚

  • For me, pretty much any of the short female Killers... but I'd especially like to be either Hag or Nurse! πŸ˜‹

  • I've noticed that I'm getting about 5-10 FPS less than usual on that map, but it doesn't bother me too much. Maybe it has to do with them updating the auras today!

  • My typical build is Monitor and Abuse, Pop Goes The Weasel, Discordance and Nurse's Calling. I also like to run Make Your Choice, so I'll sometimes use that in place of Nurse's Calling or Pop! For addons I typically use the pinecone and Fragile Wheeze, and that's usually the addon combo that works best for me.

Trusty build that took me all the way to rank 2!

  • For me, the new matchmaking has caused my Killer queue times to go to about 5 minutes at all times of the day, while my Survivor queue times have gone down to about 15-30 seconds at any time of the day. I used to have near-instant Killer queues and lengthy Survivor queues at night, with lengthy Killer queues and instant Survivor queues during the day. Red rank both sides for reference!

I'm sure it will improve after I play plenty of games, however. And I'm not too bothered by queues, since it's easy to alt-tab and watch YouTube πŸ˜›

  • People talking about the new matchmaking like they've never encountered an MMR system... which wouldn't surprise me, to be honest!

It's going to take a while for the system to figure out where you should be, but it will sort itself out eventually. League is the same way, you get random ranks in your placement matches and sometimes it sucks, but it works out fine.

  • I was actually thinking that instead of a Werewolf Killer, we could get a Werewolf skin for Demogorgon... unlikely to happen, but it would look neat nonetheless! πŸ˜‹

While I'm not sure about the perks, I do like the different forms of hunting and stalking!

  • Funnily enough, I played a game as Spirit (whom I have a decent amount of playtime on, and faced this:

    Screenshot_1.png

...but then played Hillbilly for the first time since rework (and 4th time ever), and got this:

    Screenshot_2.png

I'm sure it'll even out with more games, though!

  • Charges (and the rate at which they are consumed) vary from toolbox to toolbox, while flashlights have seconds of use instead of charges!

You can read all the information about toolboxes here!: https://deadbydaylight.gamepedia.com/Toolboxes (under "Repair Speeds")

  • Are people forgetting about daddy Pyramid Head in his Corrupted skin?

Not to mention Dwight in his skinny jeans... 😍

I'm glad they remembered Adam exists haha. He didn't get a new outfit for too long!

Jeff AND Adam got poppin' new outfits, it's truly a miracle! 😍

  • Other than this game... (2nd Killer game of the day):

    New Matchmaking.png

I've been having decent results so far! My Survivor games were fairly matched against red rank Killers, and my Killer games were mostly against purple/red with one or two greens.

I'm especially looking forward to playing Trapper and Pyramid Head, since I'm not that good with them and will (hopefully) not get stomped by pesky red rank Survivors.

  • I basically only play solo Survivor, and I honestly haven't been using DS for the past couple months whatsoever! I just worked at getting better at looping and playing smart, and haven't really been tunnelled whatsoever. I do love using Dead Hard, though.

My typical build consists of Dead Hard, Kindred (mandatory!), Self-Care/Pharmacy and whatever you like for your fourth perk. I myself like to take Botany Knowledge if I'm using Self-Care, and Lightweight is a favorite of mine. Iron Will is always a solid pick as well!

While that is my typical build, I also like to play with fun builds often, with good results. It just comes down to how good you are at the game, because even a perkless Survivor can succeed!

  • Nurse and Deathslinger are my main Killers, with Wraith being a close third! I like to play Nurse when I want to complete a challenge or just want an overall easy game, and Deathslinger is just so much fun to play! And Wraith with Make Your Choice is one of my favorite combos to use, and it works every time.

For Survivor, I usually like to play Yui and Nea. I love Yuis recent outfits (Taiko, Sunseeker and Greek Legend), so I like to swap them out every other match. And I love to play Nea because she has all perks unlocked AND she looks like a blueberry with the outfit that I wear!

I would agree if they actually did a little extra other than appearance. More bestial sounds for example.

Hell, your reasoning even falls short because he still has his incredibly Japanese Samurai Kanabo. They didnt even put in the extra effort for that or the Clown's modern day bottles. :D

I know, like I said on another forum post I would have liked for him to have a different special weapon, but I still appreciate it nonetheless! At least it still looks like a club, like a Minotaur would be using.

Clown's bottles are something else, though...

  • @Nurgling7 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1496836#Comment_1496836

So what makes this skin $5 more special than the other ones I listed?

It's basically an entirely new character, whereas the skins for the other characters are still themed within their characters. Minotaur Oni is not at all like his other skins, and completely takes the Japanese Samurai theme out of the equation.

Take Trapper for instance. Yes, his ocean skin makes him look different, but he's not an entirely new character--it's still plainly Trapper. But, if you were to make Jason Voorhees a skin for Trapper, it would basically be an entirely new character, making it more special than his other skins.

  • @Nurgling7 said:

You use a LoL comparison. What would you say if you paid the price for an Ultimate skin, but there wasnt anything special about it? That it's what is going on here. The devs claimed that these skins would be special, but they are not.

Saying that it is a more detailed skin isnt an excuse either. The artist team has made PLENTY of AMAZING, highly detailed skins before this BS. Santa Clown, WWII Nurse, Hallowed Blights, Drowned Trapper, and many more.

There is NO reason to charge extra for these legendary skins. It is nothing more than a cheap cash grab.

But it IS a special skin, especially compared to his other skins. I don't even think "Oni" when I see it, I think "Minotaur"! And I think you've forgotten the point of Legendary skins--they were conceived as a way to bring "new" characters to the game, without having to make entirely new Killers or Survivors. Meaning that instead of bringing a Minotaur Killer to the game, they made it into a skin for Oni (which I'm glad for, since Oni already basically does what a Minotaur would do--charges people and beats them down with a club!).

I still personally think that, for the amount of time, effort and thought that went into the Minotaur Oni skin, that $15 really isn't too much to ask.

Also, a cash grab is a low effort, thoughtless piece of garbage that is being sold for a quick buck, like the trashy Unity horror games on Steam that are just asset flips. A skin with such precise detail as Minotaur Oni is not a "cash grab". You can call it "overpriced", but "cash grab" is not appropriate!

I actually disagree. LOS blockers help the killer. This is one of the reasons why the indoor maps generally favor killers. It also now allows the killer to mind game the loop. It would be an improvement for killers.

As a Nurse main, I actually shudder at the thought of LOS blockers being present everywhere. I can do pretty well on Hawkins, Lery's and The Game, but it can still be pretty sweaty against decent Survivors. Not to mention that any Killer with a ranged attack (Deathslinger, Huntress and Pyramid Head) suffer from LOS blockers as well. Don't really want to nerf 4 Killers just to make it a bit easier for the rest.

  • @Blueberry said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1496589#Comment_1496589

I'm not asking how you counter low wall loops. I'm asking why they exist functionally.

"I think low wall loops are just aesthetically pleasing for most maps, and you don't want to have high wall loops everywhere--it could be a nightmare due to all of the LOS blockers that would be present."

I actually don't think making them all higher would hurt any aesthetics and why exactly would that be a nightmare?

Well, many maps have low wall loops that look nice and provide variety. For example, Mother's Dwelling and Temple of Purgation. And maps with LOS blockers everywhere generally aren't favorable for most Killers, so I think adding more LOS blockers wouldn't be very fair.

  • @Aldofer said:

you seem to forget infernal nasus come with different animation, new voice and new line, and spell sfx rework, new recall animation, new weapon ect..

it's not the case for minautore skin just saying

I understand, but my big point was about the modeling, and the Infernal Nasus skin model is extremely cartoon-y compared to Minotaur Oni! The effects are pretty low quality, too. And how much does it cost to have someone in-house record new voice lines for Nasus?

Not trying to say that Infernal Nasus is bad, just saying that (compared to Minotaur Oni) it's not worth the price tag.

  • Good Survivors can loop a low wall perfectly for ages, but bad Survivors can get caught with quick Killer movements at said loops. I think the key to catching good Survivors at low wall loops is to just hold W instead of trying to do quick moves or anything like that... then, after they drop the pallet, get them on the worse side of the loop and break it. It's worked for me against red rank Survivors (although rank =/= skill most of the time!).

I think low wall loops are just aesthetically pleasing for most maps, and you don't want to have high wall loops everywhere--it could be a nightmare due to all of the LOS blockers that would be present.

  • Meanwhile, Riot (or should I say Tencent) charges $15 for League of Legends skins on the daily, and people eat them up like candy... and they're not even worth it AT ALL... there are even a few that are $15 and are worse quality than the $10 and even $5 skins, having no new animations, particle effects or anything whatsoever. Not to mention the fact that there are even skins priced at $20 and $25, and no one complains about those.

I think the Minotaur Oni looks fantastic. I would have liked for him to be using something other than the Kanabō, but it still looks great. His original animations work perfectly for the skin as well. The skins department really outdid themselves!

Also, Deathslinger is far better than Huntress.

  • He's walking funny... hehe...

On a side note, Deathslinger looks more menacing now when he walks!:

  • I actually love Hawkins and Midwich on both sides, and a Doctor just sent us to Midwich yesterday. OoO on that map is ridiculous though, sad that people cheese the game like that.

  • Besides the fact that we need a new male character, I'd like to see a blonde-headed guy in the game!

Although David is getting that new blonde Wolverine hair... 😍

  • With Autodidact, I usually use Empathy + Kindred + Botany Knowledge or even Second Wind!

Autodidact + Empathy is almost a no-brainer, so you could start with that and then add perks that you feel comfortable playing with.

Username checks out, you can't stop the machine rebellion! Skynet can't be stopped! The rise of the machines is inevitable!

Seriously though, I think it's a good idea so a DC has less impact on the match. Technically DCing on death hook is actually the most effective tactic available when downed. You're dead anyway, so by DCing you can deny the killer a Pop activation, BBQ aura reveal, blood warden proc, (Which once happened to me) etc. as well as screw him out of points and pips.

It's rare to see people use it offensively like that as a tactic, but it is possible to do and I've gone against a few 4-mans who would all DC on death hook despite playing very well otherwise. The Blood Warden thing I mentioned earlier happened about a year ago after a streamer had a teammate's distortion go off in the exit-gate, (Which indicates I had Blood Warden, since it shows your aura when you are in the exit gate) so he DC'd on the way to the hook to deny what would have been game-ender. THAT is pretty BS and was a literal example of a "Tactical" disconnect for a gameplay advantage.

I don't think that should be a thing.

I've had so many teammates D/C to deny the Killer of points, or Survivors D/C to deny me of points that it's not even funny. And don't even get me started on the "Tactical D/C for Hatch" gamers... you'd think that the loss of points and D/C penalty would dissuade them, but I guess loss of points and a 5-minute slap on the wrist doesn't keep them from being a "pro gamer". Hopefully they get something implemented soon.

  • I almost always get MacMillan maps as both sides (with Groaning Storehouse being the hottest pick), as well as The Game being super common on Survivor and Badham Preschool being super common on Killer. I haven't seen the Saloon in ages now, and I only get Midwich when someone uses an offering, and I love both of those maps... 😭
