the game may call it a draw when any reasonable person would say they deserve they derserve the full 2 pips

In my experience, you usually get 2 pips if you get 11 hooks, as long as the generators weren't completed quickly, even at red rank...

  • I think it looks like that because the screenshots were taken on Low graphics, although if that's the case, I hope they improve and match the hair color for Low anyway.

I'm just confused why they take the screenshots on Low instead of showing them in proper quality, especially since hairstyles suffer the most with Low graphics...

the centrall idea behind this is that survivor can more freely roam the map than the killer can i sense you dont agree with this so let me explain: in general survivors need to do gens possiblly break totems and the like but their time just isnt as valueable as the killer's because you have 3 teammates to pick up the slack you can crouch walk around the map for 2 minutes just looking around and still win if you tried that as kill you would lose. killers need to go from gen to gen and go on chases if the hatch wasnt visable when you were doing those things you didnt find it. not to mention hiding in a locker by the hatch to hide fromm bbq and winning the second teammate #3 is killed even if the killer got 11 hooks

I understand what you're saying, but in reality (on most maps) the Killer has much more freedom to roam than the Survivors do, especially throughout the middle of the map (and the hatch commonly spawns in more central areas rather than the outskirts), and when I'm playing Survivor most Killers know where the hatch is if it's spawned in before my last teammate is killed. Like I said as well, I almost always find the hatch before the Survivors do as Killer, especially if it's spawned before the last Survivor was killed.

Also, are you saying that 11 hooks and 3 kills isn't a "win" for Killer? I would definitely consider that a win by a landslide, especially if there are still gens left unfinished. One Survivor escaping through the hatch doesn't make it a loss for Killer, nor does it detract from the Killer's overall performance!

  • I've had many games where the Killer has known where the hatch was before me (due to them being able to travel freely around the map), and they go straight to the hatch and shut it as soon as it opens, giving me or my teammate no chance to "find the hatch and escape". I've also been on the opposite side of that many times, being the Killer and knowing where the hatch was before the Survivors, and then easily shutting it before the last Survivor can find it, giving them absolutely no chance to find it before me.

I'm not saying that Survivors should escape every game that the hatch is a factor in, of course. I'm just saying that if you made the hatch visible from the start, it would create the same situation as that--Killer would know where the hatch was and be able to go straight to it and shut it every time.

It could possibly render hatch escapes for the last Survivor impossible unless they have a key, and I don't think you want to encourage more people to take in keys...

  • Interesting build! I say why not, it's always fun to try new builds and see how well they work. And Mettle of Man isn't too hard to stack if you use Empathy and run in behind teammates who are being chased--9 times out of 10 the Killer will just go back to chasing your teammate. For easier stacking of MoM, you could take Empathy, and swap OoO out (I personally don't like using OoO so that would be my choice). And I would probably take Self Care instead of Second Wind, just because Self Care can be used multiple times and Second Wind can only be used twice max.

  • I feel the same way, I play both sides at red rank and the game is almost relaxing (with Killer feeling a little sweaty when I'm playing Nurse πŸ˜›). I feel like my positive attitude results in positive games, even if I lose, with GG's all around!

not sure if trolling or incredibly lucky.

the only times i use kindred is to avoid teammates who are actively handing the killer free hooks.

if im on the hook and the killer is nearby that doesnt stop potatoes coming into try farm some free points from me even when they can literally see the killer because of kindred.

It might have to do with rank, I'm in red-rank and I use Kindred nearly every game with good results!

Many of the people complaining are having issues seeing them and may be harder for people on consoles or low end devices. I actually lost a teammate due to them being slugged and couldn't find their non existing aura. You're ignorant if you want people to brush it off and "enjoy the game"

I was saying it more towards the people who are just endlessly flaming the new auras without reason. I just wonder how people who complain here all the time actually enjoy the game...

No offense to console users, low-end PC gamers or colorblind individuals of course. I'm all for brightening the auras and adding colorblind options!

  • @DawnMad said:

The problem isn't how they look, its how hard they are to see. Try looking for your traps as a Trapper, or looking at anything in Ormond. I like the new style but it needs to be much brighter and a colorblind option is long overdue.

I can see that, them being a bit brighter wouldn't hurt at all, especially for darker maps. And I do agree, colorblind option should be a priority!

Aura reading perks for survivor are not meta and you only need to see hooked survivor, what is easy, because it is the only red stain in the whole map. Killers ain't see the gens, bbq does not work, exit gates are dark as hell.

Uninstall game is the best solution if this stays this bad.

I actually consider Kindred meta for Survivors, helps my teammates avoid camping Killers and actually cooperate to take me off the hook. And I personally don't use aura-reading perks even as a red-rank Killer, so I don't think that will be a problem. I will check it out on Killer side tonight, though!

No. The rift skins are from the Conviction Collection and are completely separate to the Greek Legends Collection.

Speaking of, I love it. Goddess Jane makes me happy and this?

    Bhvr take my money.

People hating on that David hair... so sad... I actually want to buy it and use it with my current David outfit! 😍

And I'll be buying that Jane outfit as soon as it's out, everything is perfect about it! Especially the hair, definitely my favorite hairstyle for her!

  • I'd like to see something like closeable doors, which Survivors can slam in a Killer's face but the Killer can break the door down and it can't be used again.

  • I thought the swamp maps were pretty bad at first, but after playing on them a bunch I decided they weren't TOO bad. The boat on Pale Rose always has that god-tier pier window gym spawn next to it, not to mention the small boat with the good vault as well. And Grim Pantry has the giant main pier AND the small two-story pier with good potential, and there are decent pallets away from the small depression in front of the giant pier.

The way I play those maps (and just play in general) is to run everywhere, and run as soon as you hear the terror radius. Having that headstart on the Killer is a huge help, especially on those maps, and I rarely die or even go down once on the Backwater Swamp maps because of that.

  • D/C'ing is not okay under any circumstance, unless you have an emergency. I myself have only EVER disconnected in one game (League of Legends), and that was because my grandmother went to the hospital. Looking forward to them fixing the issue and getting the penalties back up and running.

I would say that it's surprising that people are actually defending D/Cs because of "slugging, tunneling and camping", but it's the internet--entitlement is everywhere.

"I don't want to have to play through this CS:GO match when my teammates are bad, why do I get banned for disconnecting?!! This is unfair! I have the right to not have to sit through a game that isn't going my way!" πŸ˜›

  • A Wraith told me he would give me hatch next time he saw me, because the Zarina on our team had a hissy fit about him "camping the basement" (when it was just her and Steve left and the Steve was hooked there, she could have easily left but instead went in and got clapped), and I told her (kindly, of course) to get over herself! πŸ˜‹

  • Killer: Jacket from Hotline Miami (a classic)

Survivor: MacCready from Fallout 4... haha

  • I love most of Ace's outfits (especially the flamingo sweater!), so I don't really agree that he has no good ones--and I think we'll see plenty of people using his new Tome outfit, so I guess it's just a matter of opinion. I personally like the Tome outfit, so I guess it's suiting some people!

"Toxicity" in League of Legends can actually ruin your game. Teammates can repeatedly let themselves be killed by the enemy, thus boosting the enemy team and pushing them ahead of your team. Teammates can also become upset and sit AFK in the spawn platform or disconnect.

Isn't that just killing yourself on hook? Or just AFKing? or Just DCing?

Teammates can also shoot you throughout the game (without getting kicked) and also kill you throughout the game (without getting kicked)

False, I play cs:go and you get kicked for dealing too much damage to teammates.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/4PCQIMWD2ZDU/image.png

The real reason it's different from other games is just because it's more stressful, 1v4, and 4 people can just bully you and you alone with random tbagging and clickly clacking. I'm not saying it's utterly unbalanced, I'm saying it's just a very unfun experience compared to toxic teammates in r6s or csgo.

My point was that the negative behavior that players can exhibit on Dead by Daylight is not nearly as detrimental to your gaming experience as negative behavior on League or CS:GO. Especially since rank is much harder to earn and maintain on those games, and one bad game can set you back a mile. When my teammates D/C or AFK on DbD, I still have fun and move on to the next game, since ranking really doesn't matter and I can still earn good points.

And of course you get kicked for dealing too much damage on CS:GO, but you can still negatively impact several rounds before you get booted, and that can be enough to ruin an entire match and hurt your teammates ranks.

I think the bottom line is that people take DbD gameplay too personally, instead of realizing that the players (9 times out of 10) aren't targeting them personally, and even if they are targeting them they're probably just targeting their character or didn't like a behavior they did during the match. Nothing to have a fit over.

  • @Skelemania said:

The issue isn't the game. The issue is internet anonymity & a lack of meaningful consequences. It's the same reason you see so many trolls on social media. People do things online that they rarely, if ever, would do in real life... because there would be actual consequences.

Same reason why people throw a fit in public if someone pulls out their phone & starts recording them. Because suddenly them acting like a brat might wind up with them losing their job or what not.

This isn't a subject that's a whataboutism. What about Counterstrike? What about League of Legends? What about X? We're not trying to measure how much of an a-hole the average person is in varying different communities. The common denominator is they're all internet based mediums.

I perfectly understand what you're saying, but I don't think that applies here... I'm simply talking about how DbD "toxicity" isn't real toxicity, and the word is quite overused here and on the Steam discussions.

Undoubtedly, there are a lot of aggressive and rude individuals on DbD, but that isn't "toxicity", it's simply poor behavior and aggression. True toxicity is on games that actually have mechanics that can be abused to the detriment of one's teammates, like friendly fire on CS:GO and "running it down" on League of Legends.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that people are overly sensitive to the "toxicity" that occurs on Dead by Daylight when other competitive games have far worse, actual toxicity going on. Like, someone throwing a fit in end-chat can be easily avoided, and if a game goes south (teammates griefing or whatever) you can just AFK or ######### on hook. I myself stay in end-chat just to make sure to report people who are overly aggressive and rude, but if people can't handle it then they should probably just skip it and not worry about it, instead of flying to the forums and complaining.

  • @dbd_noob said:

I have experienced that you get a lot of kindness if you are nice yourself. I try to always be nice and never had big issues with the chat...

This is so true, I always try to be a good-natured solo Survivor and I usually end up being friends with the Killer!

  • @NoShinyPony said:

I read the first couple of paragraphs and you missed the most important thing: Insults and DEATH THREATS in the after-game chat.

DbD is an unbalanced party game, nothing more, and death threats in the after-game chat are a very common thing.

Imagine people playing Mario Party and sending their opponents death threats. Sounds insane, right? But it's the "normal" in DbD.

This community is one major reason why I wouldn't recommend DbD to anyone.

I understand that there are many people (especially in Tan rank) who will sling insults and death threats in the end-game chat, but remember that that is easily avoidable by simply exiting the end-lobby immediately after the game.

But honestly, like I've already said, League of Legends and CS:GO both have horrible issues with communication toxicity AND actual toxicity, and are far worse than DbD. The insults and threats that I've received in Dead by Daylight are nothing compared to the abuse that I and many other players have received on other competitive games, not to mention the actual gameplay toxicity that goes on in those games. And to top it off, players can be toxic through communication throughout the entire game, not just the end-lobby (that is easily skippable).

Also, by the literal definition of the word, Dead by Daylight is a competitive game. 4 players versus 1, competing for points, escapes and kills. There is also a ranking system in the game, flawed as it may be. So, yes, it is a competitive game.

  • I avoid the Killer when possible (no stealth perks here, though), but I'm not afraid to be in a chase! I'll also put myself out there more if my teammates have taken some hooks already. I also enjoy running around in the open with Lightweight!

  • Mine is built with old parts from my brother's old PC, as well as some newer upgrades. I have an AMD FX-8370 with a GTX 1660 and 16GB RAM, DDR3 (old motherboard πŸ˜›), full tower. Might upgrade that motherboard soon!

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/174979/toxicity-dbd-versus-other-competitive-games

Dude, almost nothing you mentioned here was anymore toxic than what happens in DBD, especially on console. You will get the same words, the same #########, the same TorreNted harrasment (in fact probably more because steam and the like are better able to handle bans) and the same outside and inside behavior.

Sexual harrasment, racial slurs, threats if violence- I'm pretty sure someone even has gotten doxxed

The worst of it is those games you have actually have a functional competitive component. No one takes a DBD tourney that serious, its a niche, fairly casual game.. and in spite of that it rivals the games you mentioned with a much smaller community and a divide that basically creates derisiveness from the nature of the "roles" and your preference for either. At least in those communities, most folks can agree on certain things that need nerfing and what should receive balance changes. Good luck achieving that here.

I understand what you're saying, but the things I was focusing on with my discussion are more gameplay-related than communication, and even then it's still far worse. People have been doxxed endlessly on League and CS:GO, and the harrassment is through the roof on those games as well. At least on DbD (as a good-natured solo Survivor), I have far more games without bad behavior than with, not to mention the fact that you can only use text chat in the end-lobby. But in regard to gameplay, there are far more opportunities to ruin players' games in the games that I mentioned, and winning and losing matters much more as well.

Much of the communication toxicity on DbD can be avoided by leaving end-lobby as soon as you get to it and disabling comments on your profile. On console, you can simply block receiving mail from other players, I believe. But, take away the communication toxicity from DbD (and ignore the forums, since they are NOT vital to playing the game and are only representative of a fraction of the people on DbD), and you're left with simple in-game behaviors that are ill-mannered and rude, but not "toxic".

Just so you all know, they already handed out the Deathgarden masks in a way. Once they gave up on the game a long while back they made it free, so anyone could get them. So, in my opinion, it'd be fair to just add them to the game seeing as any Steam user could get them anyway and that way the other platforms are no longer excluded.

I know, my brother and I both got our Deathgarden cosmetics by downloading the game for free! It was made free mid-November of last year, and only recently taken off of the store.

  • I like to try different perk builds and things, but I usually only avidly play whenever the Archive is fresh or there's an event happening, as well as when a new DLC is introduced. Other than that, I usually only play one match per day!

  • You could use Nvidia/AMD filters if you want better lighting on those maps! I play on High with a slight clarity + brightness increase to make the game look great, with still being able to see a bit better.

    Screenshot_3.png
  • I think you're missing the point of Wraith... he has great map pressure due to his cloak, and taking away his speed while he's cloaked would be a HUGE nerf.

He's perfectly fine in chases, anyway. He can easily block windows and pallets while cloaked, and gets a massive speed boost after uncloaking which helps him bean unwary Survivors or catch Survivors at loops with ease.

  • I love playing against Deathslinger, too! And Pyramid Head! Too bad I rarely see either of them, though... :(

  • As a red rank Survivor who sometimes spectates their Urban-Evading teammates after I died due to being the only one visible, I can say that most red rank Survivors I've played with don't look behind themselves when they run. It gives me anxiety to watch... 😭

  • Deathslinger is much better, in my opinion. Coming from a Survivor perspective, I'm always able to loop red rank Huntresses just because of the way her power works, but Deathslinger is much harder to loop effectively. Deathslinger can quickly ADS with his harpoon gun and force early pallet drops, thus cutting down on chase time, while Huntress has to either hold up a hatchet when the Survivor approaches the pallet (smart Survivors just keep running) or try and hold W for an M1 (and then the smart Survivor just drops the pallet on her head).

Huntress also has her loud hum AND footsteps, and gives audio cues whenever she raises a hatchet AND fully charges a hatchet. Deathslinger only makes a small jingle when he aims with his gun, and the jingle doesn't even matter when the Deathslinger knows how to quickscope effectively. Deathslinger also benefits from a smaller terror radius.

He can also pull people around loops and even around dropped pallets, whereas Huntress is usually forced to break the pallet. Not to mention that Deathslinger never has to spend time reloading at a locker... 😏

So, I'd say that Deathslinger is much better than Huntress. I didn't think so at first, but after playing him for a while and playing AGAINST him quite a bit, I'd definitely say that he is much better in chases than Huntress.

I am currently using a heal build just for fun

    Perks:

    - Autodidact (it can complete virtually all the health if you've got good tier and gain tokens alot.

    - Empathy (Good for locating injured for heals and if you're injured can also locate to heal eachother, also good to locate where and when a chase is happening)

    - Self heal (Just because some situations you may not have much time and a quick self heal right then and there would be efficient)

For my 4th perk I keep changing and becoming unsure on:

    - We'll make it (Rapid heals and if tier 3 can use perk on other injured survivors using empathy)

    - Borrowed time (Ensure the injured off hook has a chance to escape and could possibly heal them after they've escaped a chase)

    - Botany knowledge (Increase self heal is very useful, increase healing of others in any situation is also useful. Combined with we'll make it active or Autodidact, can become a 2 second heal almost)

Any advice on which one I should choose

Those are good choices for 4th perks, but I would personally take Kindred, as I think it's the best solo queue perk and I take it on every game I play! Other than that, Botany Knowledge is also a fantastic choice, and I almost always take it when I use Self Care. It's good for taking with Autodidact as well to take some of the edge off of those early skill check penalties. Like I said, those are all good choices, so you could just try taking each of those into a game and see how well they work for you :-)

I think this is a bit rude and insensitive.

Many women are on the thicker side, especially from the waist down.

What’s wrong with those players having some body positive representation in the game?

I would honestly say that Jane is not a good representation of overweight people because she really isn't THAT large whatsoever, especially concerning her upper half, arms and face, which are actually pretty thin comparatively. Definitely not representative of the average overweight individual. I'd say her body is more like a supermodel's, or like Kim Kardashian's.

I think Jeff is a much more realistic representation of overweight individuals!

  • You could try Empathy + Autodidact + Kindred + Leader, for a great altruism combo! I've been using it lately for fun, and it's fun to find my teammates and surprise them with a fast heal, not to mention the information you get from using Empathy and Kindred (the best aura-reading perks, in my opinion).

I also like to goof off with a Left Behind + Plunderer's Instinct + Ace in the Hole combo, so I can always locate the hatch at end-game and possibly have a key to open it with.

  • If that was the way it was meant to work, how is it a "nerf" if they fix it?

Finally, generator progress will be a possibilty against PGTW + BBQ/Discordance Fredster and Billy... πŸ˜‹

Good for you, but I can quarantee you, there are killers that gg ez after matches too.

Seems more common for people who bring an ebony mori and good addons so they are obv looking for salt, but I have seen that also after super normal matches without any form of toxicity like teabagging so...

I usually see "gg ez" from Spirits who use Stridor and/or an Ebony Mori... πŸ€”

  • Another helpful point is to post ACTUAL suggestions and constructive criticism to the Feedback and Suggestions forum, not the General Discussions... it might actually get looked at there!

  • @Artick said:

Let me tell you the truth. Killers 4ks 9 games out of 10 and it's all cool and balanced. Then they run into ONE team that's actually better than them, they lose and blame it on "op survivors", "survivor sided game", "gen rushing swf with crutch perks that in fact are just as crutch as the perks the killers was running". In order for the game not to be survivor sided in killer mains eyes they shouldn't ever lose a game or get outplayed.

    Give us a break.

You do know that Killers basically HAVE to 4k to get points, unless the game lasts for eons and everyone maxes out? Meanwhile, Survivors can die and still get plenty of points. As a red rank both sides gamer, I know this for a fact, as I have played many Survivor games and have made plenty of points without escaping.

Honestly, good Killers SHOULD be getting the 4k more often than Survivors escape, because escaping isn't everything for Survivors, while killing basically is everything for Killers.

  • Honestly, at red ranks on both sides, I see many more whiny Survivors than Killers. I actually end up talking and laughing with the Killer at the end of most games, with one Killer telling me they would give me hatch next time they saw me. Honestly, I get more hate from my teammates than from Killers, just because I don't side with them when they whine at the Killer in post game chat. And as Killer, I get called a tunneller quite often for returning to a generator and downing + hooking the recently unhooked, unhealed person... what do you want me to do? Let you work on the objective while I ignore you since you were just taken off the hook? Big brain...

Even taking into consideration that there are 4 Survivors to every 1 Killer, I would definitely say that I encounter more Survivor toxicity than Killer toxicity. Even Killers that use moris are usually silent in endgame chat, until someone starts insulting them and being horrible, and then a saltfest ensues. Very sad.

  • @Tricks said:

I used to main Survivor. It was too stressful because /hard mode.

    I don't get this thread.

Low rank Killer is pretty easy, not gonna lie... but high rank Killer (purple/red) can be pretty stressful. Unless you play Spirit or Nurse, you basically have to run perks like Corrupt Intervention, Ruin and PGTW to keep gens from popping left and right... meanwhile, I run goofy perk builds and non-meta perks with no items whatsoever as a red rank Survivor, with easy escapes... Lol

To say that Killer (against Survivors who at least know how to run around an obstacle, drop a pallet and hold M1 on a gen) is less stressful than Survivor is wild... I definitely sweat more as a red rank Killer than I do as a red rank Survivor... literally... πŸ˜“

Streched Resolution gives you a slight advantage but not unfair or game breaking. I only use it because it gives me a huge FPS boost but that's it.

Well, we must agree to disagree, because I used it for quite some time and experienced the advantages for myself, and I would hardly call them "slight"! However, like I said, the purpose of my post was to disprove the claims of no advantages through my own personal experience--not trying to demonize anyone for using it. It's not bannable, so!

  • @boobsandlubes said:

Well, there is nothing you can do about it. BHVR needs to plea to Nvidia or AMD to remove custom resolution.

I'm not expecting them to do anything about it, since it's not exactly traceable to my knowledge. I just wanted to give an insightful look into how stretched resolution actually works since I had been using it for quite some time!

  • @Raven014 said:

I don't think it was the side to side view people were complaining about, but the fact that stretched res could look over certain loops and make unsafe loops safer. The survivor would have all the info, yet the killer would not.

I know, I included that information in my post! I only thought to take screenshots of the side to side view, however.

  • I love using Windows of Opportunity. It is extremely helpful for avoiding dead zones and tiles that the pallet has already been used on, and it helps tremendously with planning escape routes and loops. I almost consider it an essential perk, because the times I don't take it I end up going to a location, only to find that the pallet has already been thrown down and broken... πŸ˜”

  • Apparently, those Legion skins weren't supposed to glow like they have been, and they changed it on the last update!

  • As long as Adrenaline is a thing, I really don't have a problem with NOED. And honestly, as a both sides gamer, I would 10x rather go against a NOED user than 4 Adrenaline kiddos... truly a nightmare...

But seriously, Adrenaline is used on nearly every game I play (by my teammates or my enemies), and you don't see such complaints about that. And Adrenaline can't be cleansed, and it even activates after you're unhooked if you were hooked before it activated! I think NOED is fair considering that it's basically the counter to Adrenaline.

And as a solo Survivor, if I'm that scared of NOED activating, I just take a rainbow map with a range addon. It's really not that bad.

  • I've been looking at buying it since I found out about it (several weeks ago!), and I bought it as soon as it came out (after looking at it in-game, of course--made sure I liked it!). This isn't even the new "norm", it's just a way for them to make great-looking, congruous skins that are in no danger of clipping. The only thing I would like is being able to take off the gas mask, but other than that I love it and am glad to have a nice Nea skin. The jacket/poncho has awesome physics, too!

And honestly, the Gamer Entitlement in this forum is insane. League of Legends has been putting out skins that are $10, $15 and even $25 for ages now, and you don't see such hissy fits about that. Be glad that every skin in DbD except for ONE is only $10 or less, and there are many that are cheaper than that and still look great. Not to mention that (like I said) this isn't the "norm" and they're going to be releasing normal, mixable skins like usual.

So sad to see game devs try and do something new and see all of the Gaming Justice Warriors flock to the forum to ree and wave their mom's credit cards in the air. Thankfully, however, this forum is only a tiny percentage of the people who actually play the game, so I doubt that even 100 people having a fit will change their direction... glad for that!
