I think it's completely random, because sometimes I'll go on a streak of Killer rituals but lately I've only been getting Survivor rituals. I haven't changed the amount of games I play on either side whatsoever!

I'm playing clown with no offering and the first guy i down on Ormond dc's when i got to pick him up. I can understand it if i was tunneling or face camping or had strong add ons or a mori. But no, i have no offering and the reload speed add on.
Yeah, that's pretty bad. For some reason, people seem to hate playing against Clown even though he's not that powerful (it might be because of the gas effects on the screen), so that might be why.... π

My favorite map: Hawkins National Laboratory! I love playing on that map as Killer and Survivor, and I always have fun games on there. I feel like it's one of the most balanced maps in the game in regard to it's size and pallet amount.
My least favorite map(s): Family Residence or Gas Heaven. I hate playing on those maps as both Survivor and Killer, and I think they're both uninteresting. Although, I don't like any of the Autohaven Maps in general!
-
I easily got mine for Huntress, Nurse and Legion by just playing nicely. When you don't tunnel or camp at all (or slug unless strictly necessary), people will be less likely to kill themselves on first hook or D/C, and I got Adept Legion and Huntress on my first try that way. Adept Nurse was a bit harder but the only times I failed were due to my own incapability.
Remember, Survivors can't see what perks you're using or anything like that, so they're not killing themselves JUST to deprive you of the Adept. And they'll probably kill themselves on first hook if you take in a mori as well, since no one likes to be first hook mori'd, and that's what they're expecting.
-
I know! I noticed it as it was being applied and I really like it. Especially the change from red to gold! It really would be nice if they kept it for a good while afterward....
-
I myself only use ivory or cypress moris for the rare "Kill Survivor with your own hand" daily challenges, and I don't have devour hope.... they would have to remove the mori dailies if they removed moris!
I think it would be nice if they restricted ebony moris to 2 Survivors only, or just removed it altogether. And make it so when you open the hatch with a key, only one Survivor can jump through and then it shuts again.... or make it so it only stays open for about 5 seconds or so!
Keys and moris are different, because keys can only be used after a certain amount of generators are done, while ebony and ivory moris can be used after a single hook. I think keys are fine except in the hands of SWF (like most things), and Killers can take Franklin's to make them drop their keys. Survivors can't exactly make the Killer drop their mori.... π
-
Like I've seen others mention, I wish that Fixated worked while injured as well. Would be great for doing some sneaky plays with Iron Will, Fixated and Lucky Break!
-
If I play a couple games during the day, I only wait around a minute for a queue. But at night it takes an average of 3-5 minutes! I'm in the U.S., EST, and red rank (mostly Solo Survivor) π

So if the roles are balanced enough at this point or the game is already petty balance right now. Why would they need to change something? Since the term balance enough or already petty balance, makes it sound like things are fine as is. That changing it would be a bad idea. It doesn't like sound adding this idea in is good at all. That and you say this idea is for balance, when here the thing. It's not been tested at all. So we have no idea how this will effect things, outside of making balance landing stronger. Making the idea oh hey you are only against it due to being bad killers, sounds questionable, when there is a lack of date. Many people like to have date and how this would effect things in reality and not just on paper. Since many ideas sound great on paper but turn out to be awful in reality. That and this idea would not effect nurse at all. Also Oni can't use Demon Strike when falling down, so it sort of already exist for his power. That and your using red ranks to favor your point, you are aware even the devs have stated, rank is not a matter of skill but rather mere how much you play?
Which also this idea would buff balance landing, by allowing a balance landing user to gain more distance from a killer, due to the killer suffering from slow down. Which would once again harm slower killers the most. That and the idea seems to be oh survivors suffer from this, so killers also must. Killers have to hunt down and hook each survivor three times, making their role different from survivors. Even if we ignore that, killers don't currently have any perk that negate this down side. While survivors not only has a perk that negates this downside but gain a speed boost, allowing them to cover great distance. So if we go with one side suffers from it why not the other? Well where the perk for killers to negate this downside and gain a benefit from it? Could we get a change to a existing perk or a brand new one, to help killers overcome this down side like survivors?
That and since you make it out to seem to be a very minor thing, when you say you are not wanting to make a massive change, which lead me to, why should we focus on this over something like fixing ghostface's reveal, which has a far bigger effect on gameplay for both ghostface and the survivors?
If the issue is indeed a big deal or one that must be dealt with, another way to take care of the op issue, would be with better map design or simply reducing the negative effect survivors suffer from when falling. Since we could always reduce the sagger time for survivor by 0.5 seconds, which would lead to the same effect, if a survivor is not using balance landing. Since the survivor gets back up on their feet faster.
Well, there are obviously some things they can tweak here and there. I'm just saying that I don't think it's a very bad idea, and something that's rather harmless to implement, especially since BL was nerfed.
And I'm aware that there are many things that need to be fixed in the game! You can point out things that you would like or not like to happen while still being aware that there are bugs that need fixing, or things that need balancing. I mean, this is a general discussions thread.... π
I do like that idea though, reducing stagger time for Survivors would be fine as well. Although I'm just thinking of adding a slight stagger to Killers in terms of it making a little more sense.... but, then again, there's not much in this game that makes sense anyway!

I really hope it's Pyramid Head, since he's strong and scary and a KILLER, but I don't really care otherwise. I don't really see the point of Xenomorph, Pennywise or Candyman, but Jason would be alright.
If not Pyramid Head, maybe they could add Scissorman from Clock Tower.... π

Enduring & Resilience weren't on your lists, fun perks imo.
Yeah, I just included all of the perks that I see the most in my games! I do see those perks occasionally but not as often as the ones on my list, so I might have incorrectly labelled them as "meta" but that's all I could think of to call them!
-
I think the bottom line is that Killers having a little bit of stagger is something that should have been added whenever Balanced Landing was nerfed to only work when not exhausted. And I'm not talking something MASSIVE, just like .5 seconds or so, and only a slow effect for that duration, not a full stop like Survivor currently has. There's no reason to NOT have stagger when falling as Killer after Balanced Landing was nerfed.
I really don't understand how you all are complaining so hard about something so trivial, when it would be for balance. Just like they removed (most) god loops, nerfed toolboxes, nerfed insta-heals and nerfed Balanced Landing.... all for balance. If it's "unbalanced" (which it is slightly) for Killers to fall three stories and not suffer any sort of penalty, then why cry so much about it being remedied? Honestly, the game is pretty dang balanced right now with all of the updates they've been doing, and I think this would be perfectly fine to add. And if it isn't, they can revert it. Although they'll probably never implement something like this by going off of the General Discussions forum.
I think the problem is that there are a lot of bad Killers on these forums who don't do well in their games and then blame it on the other side, when it really just boils down to how good you are at the game. If Killers can consistently hit rank 1 and be in red ranks, then the game is balanced enough. If Killers WEREN'T able to hit red ranks no matter how good they were, then the game would NOT be balanced. But that is not the case, obviously. I myself have reached red rank as Killer (despite playing more Survivor than Killer), and I've never even used BBQ. Heck, I use STBFL on Huntress and I win plenty of games with her against red ranks. The roles are balanced enough at this point that something like a tiny stagger after falling would be perfectly fine.

It's also supposed to be that the Killers are fueled by evil and their immense strength means they don't stumble. They're 'unstoppable', not 'sometimes staggering'.
This is a straight up Killer nerf when Killers already have an uphill battle. No.
I personally don't think it's a Killer nerf, but you're entitled to your opinion! And if the first part of your message is true, then why don't Killers have built-in Enduring? Why is a simple wooden pallet so injurious to them? And why can a Survivor stick them with what is presumably a little wooden stick and they groan in pain for 5 seconds?
I play plenty of Killer in red ranks and I really don't see a problem with it. I don't even really see it as a "nerf" to Killer or "buff" to Survivor -- just something that makes sense and would be helpful to Survivors on places like the Blood Lodge building and the Mount Ormond balcony, since they currently have a massive stagger penalty without an active Balanced Landing.
You really aren't taking away from the power of Killer whatsoever by adding a tiny stagger after falling. I really can't see any situations that this would be "game-changing" for Survivors, like "wow, what a fantastic buff to Survivor, look, I can EASILY escape the Killer by falling from a balcony now!". It would just be a simple QoL thing. And since Survivors stagger so heavily after falling (which is currently a massive advantage Killers currently have over Survivors), why is it a bad thing to implement something small to balance it out slightly? Something that probably wouldn't even make a difference overall, but just improves the quality of the game experience. I mean, I think it's pretty weird that Legion can just fall down from the top floor of Hawkins and walk like nothing happened!
-
This seems like it would be a nice little QoL update, since it is rather strange that Killers aren't affected whatsoever by taking a tumble! Something like a .5 second stagger after falling would be nice.
I think their reasoning is that some falls require vaulting a window (which the Survivors can do quickly, whereas the Killer cannot), so the Killer shouldn't be hindered after falling. However, I think there are enough vault-less heights in the game at this point that it wouldn't be too detrimental for Killers to stagger a little after falling!
-
If you use Dead Hard against certain Killers right before you get hit, you'll probably still get hit.... it's not the fault of the servers or the perk, it's the Killer's connection and ping. You'll especially see this if you play against VPN-ing Killers, or Killers with bad internet. I've played against Killers who lived in South America (and I live in the U.S.!) and I have to use Dead Hard much earlier than normal (usually before they even swing, or else I'll probably get hit). However, against Killers who have good connection, I never get hit when I use it.
When you use Dead Hard right before the hit, the Killer has most likely already hit you on their screen. The game knows you were hit before your Dead Hard went off because your Dead Hard is refunded and exhaustion removed shortly afterward.

For the People.
In red ranks, Killers aren't picking up Decisive and the meta is turning into slugging. But in solo queue you have to run an Obsession perk, since games with no Obsession pretty much result in an auto-loss due to tunneling out an early kill.
For the People is fun when it works, counters slugging and creates an Obsession so the Killer has to play around DS. That's why its a must-have in my builds.
I actually never thought about using For the People for an Obsession! I've been using DS just to keep away the tunnellers since less people have been running Obsession perks on my games lately, and I would love to have something more useful like FtP.

I had to put Urban Evasion and Self-Care on there just because of how many people USE THEM in my games.... in red ranks too.... and when your entire team gets wiped and you see the UE + SC combo in use on at least 2 of your teammates, all hope is lost.
I myself don't even have Self-Care unlocked and I never use Urban Evasion because.... yuck. π€

I said Kindred because I see it quite often in my games on both sides, and it's usefulness is quite apparent so it's no surprise that many solo Survivors run it (including myself!)
I always like to compliment the Wake Up! users in my games, so I'm glad to see someone who truly appreciates it! π

I don't think Doctor is innately toxic, but the Doctors I play against tend to be more rude than any other Killer. They usually enjoy hitting the last hooked Survivor repeatedly or stand in front of them while pressing M2. Maybe the Doctor attracts the more toxic players? π
That's just in my experience, of course!
-
I think that the devs probably pay more attention to more informational sections of the forum, such as Feedback and Suggestions. The posts there seem more relevant and worth taking a look at, while it seems that a lot of the General Discussions forum is full of complaints and just generally goofy stuff. You know, general discussions! But, I'm not a dev, so I could be wrong.
I'm sure they're aware of what people think and don't think, since many people are free with their opinions here -- but I think they implement their changes more from actual gameplay data and statistics rather than from forum threads. And the small number of users on this forum do not fully represent the entire DbD playerbase, so that must also be taken into account.
But, on top of all that, with all the recent happenings in the world there are a lot more people at home all day, especially some who should probably be in school.... so that probably explains the increased amount of toxicity and hostility on the forums, and the increased number of discussions as well.

I know, but at least you have a better chance at surviving with it on.... it's not as bad as the Spirit not having Stridor and you not having Iron Will, as your injured noises would be at 100% volume -- but with Iron Will, they're only at 50% when they're using Stridor.

The counter is to never be injured.... this shouldn't be too hard to accomplish with how EASY it is to play Survivor π

You can't compare slugging to abusing a mechanic im sorry you really cant do so slugging has counterplay which is simple unbreakable what has 0 counterplay is running to a corner and dcing so someone gets hatch to basically negate the hook death animation that seems like an exploit from what the rule says.
I understand what you're trying to say, but saying Unbreakable is ***the counter*** to slugging is silly. If you're being camped while slugged (which happens frequently with slugging for the 4k in my experience, especially with stealth killers), you get up with Unbreakable and you go down again.... what are you going to do? Get up and get slugged again? No, because it only works once.
It's still not an exploit, since it is not directly benefiting the person who "exploited" whatsoever. It's just a scummy thing to do. And like I said, what if the Survivor D/Cs while their teammate is nowhere near the hatch, but they find it anyway? Would you still call that an exploit?
Please understand that in no way am I defending hatch D/Cs, since I think it's a dumb thing to do, but to call it an exploit is silly. It's just a scummy "tactic". I'm finished replying though, since I know that nothing will be done about this and to have a 4 page discussion on something that won't be addressed is asinine. No offense of course, just saying that there are better things to do!

But it is actually against the rules though lmao?
EXPLOITS: ABUSING BUGS OR ERRORS IN DESIGN TO GAIN A COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE
- Advertising exploits
- Exploit bugs, errors in design, or undocumented features to gain access to what otherwise would not be available or to obtain a competitive advantage
- In-game report REQUIRED / Customer Support ticket OPTIONAL
D/C'ing for hatch doesn't fall under any of those.... the person who does it certainly doesn't gain anything whatsoever. These definitions apply to a person personally doing something that benefits them that is exploiting an error or bug, such as glitching outside of the map. The person who D/Cs gets absolutely nothing, and is actually penalized for their action. Yes, it somewhat benefits the other Survivor, but it's still at the cost of THEIR points and rank. THEY do not benefit whatsoever from the D/C.
You know, I'm not defending hatch D/C because I think it's right. I personally would never D/C for my teammate to have the hatch (I've actually never D/C'ed in my entire game time), because I think it's dumb and I don't want to lose my points and pips. I'm not really even defending hatch D/C at all. I'm saying that calling it an exploit is wrong, because it's not an exploit. I mean, what if the slugged teammate D/Cs when the alive teammate isn't anywhere near the hatch, but then they find it anyway? Would that still be an "exploit" to you? And I'm not trying to be antagonistic at all, I'm just saying. If they implemented a "give up" option for Survivors who were slugged longer than 60 seconds (with them getting to keep all of their points and the Killer getting compensated), I think hatch D/Cs and slugging for 4ks wouldn't be a thing anymore.

If the Killer is slugging, he risks the other Survivor coming in for the rescue.
If the Killer is slugging, he risks the slugged Survivor bleeding out and die before he could find either the Hatch or the other Survivor.
If the Killer is slugging, the game will end normally with the slugged Survivor bleeding out.
Nothing is being exploited there, because the game will end naturally.
Either by the Slugged Survivor bleeding out, by the Killer finding the Other Survivor, by the Other Survivor rescuing the Slugged Survivor, or by the Other Survivor escaping and leaving the Slugged Survivor to die with a key.
I know. I was saying it was an "exploit" (mind the quotations) because people were calling the similarly detrimental behavior (hatch D/C) an "exploit". Neither are actually exploits, they're just scummy ways to play.... but if you're going to call one an exploitation of a certain in-game mechanic, then the other is as well.
For example, I played a game against a Doctor who slugged my teammate in the middle area of Azarov's Resting Place, and proxy-camped them. Picking them up off the ground wasn't a possibility. The game went on for 3 minutes after she was initially slugged, with me hiding on the right side of the map. Meanwhile, the Doctor knew where the hatch was (LEFT side of the map), and immediately shut it after she bled out. I wouldn't call that ending the game "naturally", because it was a huge waste of time for me and my teammate. The "natural ending" would have been him hooking my teammate, shutting the hatch and triggering EGC for an actual ending. Not 4 minutes of waiting around while my teammate is getting camped to death on the ground.
But, in the end, discussing it really doesn't matter. You can't keep a Killer from slugging for the 4k, and you can't keep a Survivor from D/C'ing for their teammate to get the hatch (especially since they're already getting punished with loss of BPs and pip), since neither are necessarily against the rules.

A lot of the things both sides do is boring.
Thing is, that's most likely just them being optimal.
Focusing only on Generators may be boring, but that's the most optimal way for Survivors to finish their objectives and escape. Same with Pallet Looping and using strong loops.
Slugging and tunneling one person out of the game may be boring, and can be downright frustrating if you're on the receiving end of it, but it is, again, the most optimal way to spend your time as a Killer because one less Survivor living is one less person working on generators that you should be worried about. Same with Slugging.
Also, the DC Option is there for you to leave during emergencies. It's not there for you to leave when you're not having fun. That's why you can longer and longer matchmaking bans the more you DC.
The last part of your post basically addresses the problem.... it's not like these people can D/C for their teammates game after game without facing increasing penalties. Unlike slugging for the 4k, which has no penalty for the Killer, can be repeated game after game and only hurts and wastes the time of the two Survivors that are left (unless you see the last Survivor when you down the third one, obviously.... that's perfectly fine).
If D/C'ing for the hatch is "an exploit", while it still denies a Survivor all of their BPs, removes a pip and gives them a temporary cooldown, then slugging for the 4k could be called "an exploit" as well. It "exploits" the bleed out mechanic and drags a game on for much longer than it should be. I mean, heck, you could even say the Killer is "holding the game hostage" when they slug for the 4k. I'm not saying that personally, but I'm just saying if you're going to call one action an "exploit" when it has a similar, detrimental result for one side, then you can say the same for the other. Neither are very fair but at least D/C'ing for hatch actually hurts the person who did it.

I've had to deal with the Killers slugging for the 4k as a Solo Survivor to the point where I started considering slug builds, it isn't fun but I'll be darned if I have to DC to give my teammate the hatch. I'd rather bleed out. Your suggestion to Give Up is still the same as DCing for the Hatch, the game will have ended anyways with the Bleed Out timer. It's just a matter of whether or not the Killer will find you before you die.
I'm thinking more that it would allow Survivors who've been slugged for a while to leave the match while keeping the points they earned (and the Killer would be compensated fairly as well for your "give up", whereas right now the Killer gets no points if you bleed to death), so your alive teammate would have a better chance at hatch and the game would be closed out more quickly for everyone involved. And with 60-90 seconds of being slugged being the requirement to "give up", it wouldn't be nearly as bad as sitting on the ground for up to 4 minutes while your teammate is evading the Killer.
-
I'm all for anything that improves immersion (not immersive gameplay, but game-immersion), so I would love for the fog to be thicker by default. Yes, it would be a bit harder to see people, but it would feel much more realistic and spooky. They could of course adjust this per map, so it wouldn't be too foggy on naturally immersive maps like Yamaoka and Backwater Swamp, where it's already hard to see people.
-
With the amount of Killers that slug for the 4k (leaving the slugged Survivor on the ground for up to 4 minutes.... it's happened many times on my games), I don't really see a big issue with D/C for the hatch. I personally have never had it happen in my games (and I play a fair amount of Killer, as red rank), and while I am aware it happens in other peoples' games I still don't think it's as widespread as slugging for the 4k, where the Killer can just leave a Survivor on the ground for up to 4 minutes while they look for the last Survivor, then find them again with BBQ.
Maybe if they implemented an option for a slugged Survivor to "give up" if they were left on the ground for more than 60-90 seconds straight, then I could see them implementing something against D/C'ing for hatch, like a delay to hatch opening immediately after a D/C.
-
For me, it's more of liking the outfit itself rather than the coloration of the outfit, but I just happen to like brightly colored outfits more. I don't really care how stealthy I look, because I WANT to be good at looping and wasting the Killer's time -- so I don't mind getting into chases to improve my skill. And Killers sometimes enjoy mori-ing "stealthily clothed" Survivors (looking at you, P3 Claudette) so I do avoid darker colors for that reason as well.
I also kind of want to intimidate the Killer with my look as well so they'll be more likely to chase me, so I enjoy wearing the bright blue pigtails on Nea and the mask on Meg. I feel more confident in my gameplay when I'm wearing clothing that stands out.
-
I can't believe people are actually upset over 1-hour bans in 2020.... and why D/C against a suspected hacker? Just let yourself die on first hook.... I myself have never D/C'ed intentionally (only ever got disconnected one time due to my graphics card being seated improperly, causing my game to crash), even against bad connections and suspected cheaters.
-
I recently played a game where I was RIGHT next to the opened exit and couldn't see it from where I was, although I knew it was somewhere nearby.... instead, I looped the Plague around the Rancid Abattoir main building and went down with 10 seconds left on my DS.... she then puked on my prone character for like 20 seconds straight and then hit me on the hook until I died. And the exit was only 20 meters away.... if I had run to the exit right off of hook, she would have had to slug me and let me crawl through the exit or pick me up and get DS'ed! Just a string of bad decisions leading to a loss that was totally my fault.... π
-
I enjoy playing against Deathslingers, even when they shoot the air next to me and my character gets hit anyway! Much more fun to play against than Huntress, in my opinion.... not because he's less powerful, but because he doesn't have that dumb lullaby and I like that he can actually sneak up on people. π
-
Less Feng Mins for sure, as I think her squealing is pretty annoying, and the Feng Mins I get on my team usually follow injured Survivors around with a flashlight and then end up on a hook nearby. π€
I would say that I want to see more Jeffs and Quentins, but I actually appreciate their rarity. Jeffs are usually god gamers that can solo carry an entire team, and I know that the only people who play Jeff are the True god gamers so I want them to stay that way. And Quentins are usually the nicest gamers on the team, saying optimistic things in pre-game chat and always there to heal you when you need them. I feel like the only people who play Quentin are the optimistic gamers, always ready to say something nice and help the team, and if they're rare for a reason then I want them to stay that way as well!
And I would say more Adams, but Adams are typically rude as heck.... they're usually the ones to taunt the Killer at the gates and trash-talk them in the endgame chat (I once had one on my team flame me pretty badly because I opened the gate and their name was "let me open the gate".... I didn't even notice their name!). I dunno what it is about negative gamers and Adam, but dang! That's been my experience 9 times out of 10.

Stranger Things was added because it was very WIDELY known and talked about at the time. It's been extremely popular since it's creation and almost everyone knows about Stranger Things(even the normies talk about it, if not mostly the normies talk about it). That's just what I'm saying the difference is. I barely know anyone who talks about Silent Hill(actually no one talks about it now), it's just not as well known. That's why Stranger Things has a such a huge price tag. While yes, just because I don't know of something doesn't mean that many other people don't, but considering it is NOT a hot topic right now and has never been a WIDELY talked about hot topic, means that not many people will be like "Ooh yay Silent Hill!". IF they made a Silent Hill chapter, it would not be targeted towards a very big demographic. If this chapter is supposed to be very big, Silent Hill wouldn't be that.
I understand what you're saying, but, you know.... Silent Hill was also popular in it's time. Probably not on the level of Stranger Things since it's a Netflix show (and the internet was smaller at that time), but it was still very popular and widely known (and a best-seller!) among the gaming community when it was in it's heyday. Stranger Things is currently in it's heyday, just like Silent Hill was two decades ago, and I guarantee there will be far less people talking about it in 20 years time, just like Silent Hill. And like I said before, something doesn't have to be on the level of Michael Myers or Jason to be iconic, which is what I feel people are stuck on for some reason. Silent Hill was and still is memorable and influential in the world of video game horror, notable for revolutionizing the video game horror genre, and numerous video game publications still praise Silent Hill to this day. That is "Iconic"!
And I think it would still be a very big chapter. Adding a character from a successful and classic video game franchise into your own would be a very smart business move, especially if the talk of Sony, Kojima and Konami partnering to make new Silent Hill games comes to fruition.

Recently, I've been using Decisive Strike, Lightweight, Kindred and Dead Hard as my solo build. Dead Hard is excellent for lasting longer in chases, Kindred is excellent for information as a solo Survivor, Lightweight is one of my favorite perks, as it gives you more freedom when running around the map and helps you lose the Killer if you make enough distance in a chase, and DS needs no explanation! I was using Iron Will on basically every character, but since I've been having to use DS to get an Obsession on someones' portrait, I haven't been using it lately -- and I've actually been doing pretty well without it, even in chases. I'll sometimes swap out Dead Hard for Balanced Landing if I want to have more fun as well, and Fixated + Sprint Burst can be quite useful in most games!
As for healing, I've generally been relying on chests to get a medkit or just run to teammates (or I'll take in a medkit, but Killers will usually take Franklin's so I just chance it with the chests). Thankfully, teammates at least know how to hold M1 on your injured character in red ranks, so it's not been too bad. But I'll sometimes use Inner Strength if I'm wanting to go on a totem-touching spree. I personally despise Self-Heal, as I frequently see my teammates self-healing against Sloppy Butcher/Thanatophobia while I'm on the hook, and it is truly disturbing to watch. I think it's much safer to take a medkit or even Pharmacy!

I literally only know the name of the game, and am not a younger gamer. If it's not something that is well known in the entire genre of horror, I don't see how it'd be considered iconic. Maybe it was a great game, but that doesn't mean most of the world knows about it, which would mean that it would mean very little to most people if it were to be introduced as a killer.
I don't know how to explain it to you any further, but it's iconic because it was basically the first game of it's genre. Like I talked about in my original post, it had a very large impact upon the world of horror gaming upon it's release, and many game developers still take inspiration from it to this day. I mean, I'd never heard of Hellraiser until recently (due to all the speculation), but that doesn't mean it's not iconic just because I and other people haven't heard of it. I'm sure it's had an impact of it's own upon the horror genre, and me not knowing about it does not change the fact. That's what I'm saying about Silent Hill.... just because you personally don't know much about it doesn't mean that so many other people don't that it's not iconic in the horror genre. I mean, heck, I'm sure BHVR took at least some inspiration from Silent Hill, with the fog and different realms and all that!
With anything that exists in media, there are going to be people who don't know what it is or have never heard of it. For instance, I didn't even know about Stranger Things until I started playing DbD. Did that change how I thought about Demogorgon whatsoever? No! I just thought it was pretty cool and Nancy and Steve were neat as well. It was cool to find out that they were from a Netflix show, and that just made me like them even more. I think if Silent Hill is added to the game, it would be the same thing as that -- the people who didn't know about it would think it was neat and scary, and the people who do know about it and want it in the game would love playing as Pyramid Head on a Silent Hill themed map.

I know the feeling, I've played Huntress on that map many times and wonder "how is she supposed to do well against good players on her own map?!". And poor Deathslingers on that map too.... gens popping like fireworks on the 4th of July. I like what they did with Temple of Purgation (although it has some issues, but it's a nice size now), and hopefully they touch on Mother's Dwelling sometime soon π

Iv looked and looked over google images using any form of text I can think of covering gold, oil, or a mix of them. I also skimmed over a wiki list that "supposedly" named every horror movie made since the the 1920s. Doubt I seen everything, HIGHLY doubt it. But I just haven't been able to find anything that fits all 3.
Very few movies fit the 4s font at first glance. There is several different posters and ads for just about every movie made so I might have looked through 5% at BEST, but nothing worth noting. The font could also be something within the movie itself and not in promotional fluff. Though how extremely drawn out the 4 is in going all the way below the teaser is likely as important as the font itself.
Gold and oil aren't exactly good themes either when doing random searches. Plenty of stuff about Aztec, Mayan, Amazon, Congo, or those likes that have gold as a sub plot. Oil is a harder thing to come by though I'll admit but they exist. BOTH gold and oil? I'll NEVER be able to know without sitting down and watching every single movie that even remotely looks to fit. That would take days to gather a list of movies, weeks to find copies of them all, and likely months to watch.
Im stumped to put it simple. No ideas at all and I am working off of assumptions as well in it being literal gold and oil. They could be a reference instead of raw materials.
The gold could mean "golden age" and the oil can be an artistic vision "black and white" using the colors black and gold as I only assume it is oil from the skull. But as the skull itself is no more than the DbD tally mark logo, it should be ignored. That even makes the hints support each other. The font is the odd man out, but "golden age" and "black and white" both refer to classic films.
Meaning it could be one of the original move monsters such as Frankenstein's Monster, Invisible Man, Dracula, The Mummy, or The Creature from the Black Lagoon.
Crazy thought.
The Creature from the Black Lagoon. It fits. It fits VERY WELL!
That movie is a golden age classic. Fits the gold theme as well as the vague "classic license" detail in the teasers description.
It is black and white as well as deals with water. Black and white is obvious, but after taking another look at the teaser's background. The black could be water and the gold could be air bubbles. Those gold spots, are all ROUNDED! Ignoring the skull as I assume we should and the background gold spots are all circles of varying sizes and look a LOT like air bubbles in water.
That leaves the font used for the 4. A pair of human legs can make that shape.
Watch this clip and compare it yourself.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ariuokNFhSw
Notice the bubbles of air all being varying sizes of circles in and out of focus, just like the teasers background. Now look at the 2 minute mark. Her legs roughly form the shape of the teasers 4, be it backwards and upside down, and see how the Creature nearly grabs those legs to drag her all the way to the bottom. That matches the 4s font AND it going all the way below the bottom
It fits EVERYTHING!
Cool theory! I'm welcome to anything at this point, as long as it's not Candyman.... but even if it is him, I'll keep playing anyway, of course! π

This has been known for a while. Players with higher ping can gain an advantage and some even use vpn's from other countries to gain this advantage.
They are working on a fix to this as stated in the recent dev stream.
Ah, I guess I missed that on the dev stream summary! Thanks for letting me know, I really hope they fix this soon.

Unless that talk of Konami wanting to reboot Silent Hill is recent, that project was cancelled long ago.
The talk that I heard of only took place a couple months ago! π Around March, to be exact.

i admit it's smart, but the devs never do something like that .. they like to stick with the same formula with small itterations here and there. because you know why? they are afraid ofthe backlash they get for doing something totally different and survivors would scream for nerfs or unfair or killers would scream: too weak or too slow or what is this etc etc.
I really don't think the developers care too much about the communities whining as much as you think.... looking at their latest devstream Q&A, there were things that stuck out at me that I thought, "Dang, good for them for not catering to everyones' every whim". For example:
When asked about buffs for Legion and Clown, they only responded about Clown and not Legion. You'd think that buffing Legion would be a priority with all of the forum users that cry "Legion is bad!!11 ! pls fix !1!", but I think they know that he is in a good spot right now and not in need of any changes. His recent change of being able to see blood and scratch marks while in fatigue actually gave him a great boost, and I personally think he's great right now -- I think the devs share this opinion. I think this goes for many other "issues" that people have -- to the devs and many other gamers, they're NOT actual problems, but they're hyped up to appear like actual problems by forum users.
I mean, they added Deathslinger.... tall old man with a gun and a limp! And Demogorgon.... puppy! I think they'll do something great with Pyramid Head, if they do end up adding him.

As someone else said, it's a very small demographic you'd be fitting by adding such a character most likely. I for example never played Silent Hill, I've heard of it, but know nothing about it. If I specifically were to think "Video game horror", I'd be thinking of Until Dawn, because it blends the ideas of classic horror movies and video games so perfectly into each other. I don't hear a lot about Silent Hill anymore, sure, in some corners Silent Hill may be some god-like title, and I've heard the name Pyramid Head, but it's not like I've ever felt a desire to find out about it. I don't think it's some super popular horror franchise that everyone and their mother know about, especially story-wise.
Well, you have to understand that "iconic" and "classic" do not mean "extremely popular" and "recognized worldwide". Like I said in my main post, not every character has to be on the level of Myers and Krueger to be "iconic"! Silent Hill is iconic in the world of horror games because it is still being referenced and praised to this day as an excellent, groundbreaking horror game for it's time, and developers are still taking inspiration from the franchise. Of course there will be people who don't know about Silent Hill (especially younger gamers), but that's to be expected.
There is also talk of Konami working with Sony, Hideo Kojima and Masahiro Ito to reboot the Silent Hill series, so.... who knows? This could be a way to introduce more gamers to Silent Hill, through a monster and character from their game being in DbD! It would be very smart to include a popular, successful and classic horror game franchise in DbD.

Here's how you make him terrifying. Zero terror radius, only thing you hear is the scraping of his great knife getting closer to you. M2 creates a 32m fog, similar to clowns gas. Pyramid head gets faster by 10% and can see the the aura of anyone trapped in the fog. Ultra rare add on slows him by 5%, but makes his knife an Insta down in the fog.
Oh my goodness! This is almost exactly what my brother and I were thinking could be his character in-game!
With something like that, he would definitely be unique and terrifying....

Well, I wouldn't exactly boil him all the way down to "just a guy who plays DBD" since he is both a content creator whose job it is to cover Dead By Daylight and related news day in and day out and someone who has been doing it alongside playing the game since 2016 so he also has the benefit of a very great amount of experience, which makes him stand out a bit more than just "a guy who plays DBD"
And if that wasn't enough he's also a Fog Whisperer, which is a group of people who have been recognized by the dev team themselves as individuals who have "who have gone above and beyond with their impact on the Dead by Daylight community." (a quote from a community manager / official member of the dev team) So, whether you like it or not, his word does carry a certain amount of weight and influence and there's not much you can do or say to change or dispute that.
I only brought him up as an example because he is a very well-respected and extremely wholesome character in the Dead By Daylight community, so I used him as an example to point out both "toxic people" (which I guess, is me in this situation) who are just wet blankets raining on the parades of others and "wholesome, positive people" can share the same opinion and just go about expressing it in different ways.
And yes, I skimmed your whole post (I might as well have read it in full, even if I wasn't hanging on to your every word) and yes, I read your silly attempt to somehow squeeze "Silent Hill" into the framework of the words the devs said. If you read my original post in full, you would have seen me shoot that notion down completely and utterly.
You also would have read me say that the third anniversary teaser image had NOTHING to do with the chapter, so if I'm forced to repeat myself more blatantly: it had nothing to do with Ghostface. Side by side here is the Scream 3 teaser image:
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/169/image.png
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/645/image.png
and here is DBD 3rd anniversary:
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/492/image.png
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/990/image.png
Not only does the Ghostface we have have nothing to do with the scream movies or franchise. At all. THESE. LOOK. NOTHING. ALIKE.
Stop drawing comparisons and parallels where they don't exist! You don't have actual empirical evidence, and regardless of whether or not you like my saying that, doesn't change the fact.
And finally going back to the Konami thing, I'm sorry, but I can't change the fact that the company literally soiled and sullied their entire name and brand to the point where now almost nobody wants to support them as a company, so now when everybody thinks "Konami nowadays" they think of the popular phrase: "F*ck Konami" and for good reason. If you don't know about that reason, you should honestly take the time to look it up and see whether or not it impacts your "theory" and I guarantee you it does.
I'm sorry, but I think our discussion is over. I only wanted to talk about the possibility of Silent Hill in DbD, as many other people are speculating as well -- but your comments contribute very little to healthy discussion. As I said before, neither proving nor disproving me will change what DLC is coming out next, so to belittle and argue against my theory and try to prove me "wrong" is silly. They'll add whatever they want to the game, because it's their game and their money that they're spending on licenses and development. And I'm sorry that you missed my point about the fact that Paulie Esther is still just a guy who plays DbD, but I will make it more clear -- him being recognized for his contributions to the community and being an extremely active member of the community still does not make his opinion more valid than anyone elses', especially if it is based in personal like or dislike. This goes for anyone of or above his level of fame.
And I am well aware of the reasons that people believe Konami is a bad company, but I personally only boycott gaming companies that are actually bad and unhealthy for the current gaming market and consumers in general.

I want to point out that most of that response was actually me copying and pasting separate comments I've written in the past, the only thing that was new in there was the last sections talking about "relevance".
In all reality I am only as "outraged" as you would think one would be when it comes to theory crafting, which is not very. It's not like I'm going around my house clutching my fists thinking about Silent Hill
Although I stand by my criticisms and critiques which are entirely valid in pointing out this whole theory which hinges on the font of the number 4 is quite frankly dumb. If you don't like my opinion, because it's "toxic" or "the voice of a party pooper" know my opinion is also shared by Paulie Esther, who is very much possibly the most wholesome member of the entire Dead By Daylight community. So chew on that.
The difference is, he's nice enough just to say "I would be disappointed if it was Pyramid head" and leave it as that, whereas I am far more willing to, as you put it: "systematically dissect" and dismember the theory on the spot.
And I also think many people will agree with me when I say:
######### Konami.
If you're looking for a reference for someone who is actually outraged, watched this guy:
I'm sorry that you believe this "Paulie Esther" to be the "pinnacle" of the DbD community, and that his opinion is fact and should be set in stone.... no offense to him of course, but you do realize he's just a guy who plays DbD, right? He can have his opinion, you can have your opinion, I can have my opinion.... everyone is entitled to their own opinions. Having notoriety doesn't make your opinion any more valid than someone who doesn't, especially when your opinion is based in your own personal feelings, likes and dislikes. And people can have all the opinions they want, but in the end, BHVR will add whomever they want to the game. Plenty of people dislike the thought of Candyman being in the game, but he'll be added to the game if BHVR wants it. Same for Silent Hill.
And if you read my post in full, you would see that it doesn't "just" hinge on the number 4.... I pointed out how many of the things they stated in their anniversary announcement matched up pretty well with Silent Hill! I just put the 4 logo correlation at the end as the cherry on top. Konami is a big company, which means big license, and Silent Hill is a very iconic horror franchise, having inspired the creation of many, many horror games since it's release. But, I'm not going to type it all out again here after I typed it in full on the main post, haha. And like someone else said, the 3 on the 3rd Anniversary announcement looked like the 3 from Scream 3, and it turned out to be Ghostface! I wouldn't dismiss the Silent Hill possibility so easily.
And like I said on other comments as well -- I would really appreciate if people would quit with the Konami thing. I'm rather tired of seeing Internet Justice Warriors call for boycotts on every single company that's bigger than a new 2-man indie game company on Steam.
