Look I LOVE Silent Hill, but even @SpaceCoconut made a good point.

What good would it be to a player using a sword like leatherface’s chainsaw at an abysmally slow pace?

Pyramid Head only managed to be as terrifying as it was due to the fairly confined spaces James encounters it.

Yeah, because when they added Demogorgon he was immune to flashlights (no eyes), pallet stuns (extremely powerful and resilient creature), and couldn't be affected by DS or Head On.... oh wait....

You know that Pyramid Head uses a spear as well, and is decently fast with it? And it's obvious that they would adjust him for DbD gameplay. I mean, they did it with Myers, Freddy, Leatherface, Ghostface, Demogorgon and Pig, so I believe they could easily adapt him to the game.

As much as I agree that SH2 gave psychological horror in video games much more exposure, Pyramid Head wouldn’t make any sense (or ANY creature from a Silent Hill game) in DBD.

Pyramid Head is a fragment of, and projection of James Sunderlands intense guilt. Pyramid Head IS James Sunderland. But Pyramid Head also doesn’t actually physically exist either. That’s not to say James is experiencing a kind of psychosis. It’s that the town/location of Silent Hill has a mysterious power to create an individuals own personal purgatory. The personal horrors that physically exist and can physically interact with that individual ONLY exist to that individual. And that’s only until they resolve any inner conflict they were either denying or not fully understanding (or until they’re consumed by/killed by their own personal horrors).

Pyramid Head can’t be in DBD because he doesn’t quote unquote exist. There’s nowhere that The Entity can “pull” Pyramid Head from.

You don't think an interdimensional being like the Entity could pull a horrifying monster created by someone's mind from Silent Hill? 😏

Not everything makes sense in DbD, anyway.... I don't think a "hallucination monster" would be too out of place!

  • Screenshot_3.png

    Shirtless Frank gang 😏

  • There's currently a challenge on the archive that requires falling from a great height, and people go to Haddonfield since all of the houses are considered "great heights", so that's probably the reason for all of the Haddonfield offerings!

  • This would make the perk Meta.... and even more busted on Legion! Although I think I'd just keep the base effects of Exhaustion and Hemorrhage (and maybe lower the values a bit), since it wouldn't be on a timer anymore.

    Exactly.

Friday the 13th was great, they just lost the ability to update the game because of getting slapped by legal.... too bad, because it really was fun to play. There are just so many cheaters on the game now, kinda hard to enjoy without a full friends group.

Survivors often use flashlights for communication - especially solo survivors. Therefore it's a big no-no to punish the clicking in any way whatsoever.

Killers just need to learn to ignore survivors that want to get chased. That's literally why flashlight clickers do it all the time. They plan a route and start clicking when they're ready to go. If a killer falls for it and ends up getting looped into oblivion they're just bad at the game and deserve to lose. Simple as.

I know, I was just making a suggestion for what they COULD do about it. I personally don't care about flashlight clicking (or crouch-spamming, or loud noise notifications) in my games whatsoever!

Although, I only play solo as Survivor in red ranks and never find the need to clicky my flashlight, so I dunno about that first part. I really don't mind it, but to say it's necessary for communication to the point of it needing to be in the game is a bit far-fetched, in my opinion. 😋

  • They could make it so that the more you click the flashlight, the faster the battery drains. Or put an initial battery usage on each click, e.g. .5 seconds of battery usage per initial click, then normal usage while holding down the button.

So is this why I don't see many Deathslingers?

I keep hearing people here talk about how he's so good. "Everyone plays shooters today, so aiming does not take skill." "The only way to counter him is to drop the pallet early."

Either's he's really good and DbD players are simply broke and can't afford him, or he's just not that good.

I think you're forgetting that a Killer can be good but fewer people play them since they're more difficult to play than others! Like Oni and Demogorgon, for example.

Aiming DOES take skill. And obviously, not everyone who plays DbD (or FPS games in general) is good at aiming, which means less people playing Deathslinger since they can't aim properly. And it can be pretty hard to aim with him, since it's a small projectile and Survivors can be pretty erratic.

The clues suggest it's a horror franchise, implying it's from a movie not a video game. Silent Hill is far from iconic anyway, the characters were forgettable as well as the monsters involved. I loved the games, but even I admit it's not that impactful

The announcement implies this chapter will make a huge impact, and in no way whatsoever would Silent Hill do anything remotely to that. I think the most likely answer is something that marks the horror industry such as characters like Jason, Xenomorph, Candyman, Chucky, or Pinhead.

As much as you'd like it to be Pyramid Head, I just don't see it happening. The number 4 is a coincidence IMO, and if anything it looks like honey dripping to indicate Candyman.

Horror game franchise =/= horror franchise? Like I said, "world of horror" includes the world of video game horror.... and there are two Silent Hill movies....

And I understand if you don't think that it was iconic, but it obviously influenced the entire world of video game horror upon it's inception.... that's pretty big! And people still love it and reference it to this day. I know that people think "Wikipedia bad" because their school teachers drilled that statement into their heads, but Wikipedia does provide citations and articles to back up the statements made on their pages. I don't trust Wikipedia for some things, but I think they're fine when it comes to movies, games, e.t.c.. Especially if they're providing the articles that they take their statements from, so you can check the validity for yourself.

I think the honey dripping thing is MUCH further of a reach than the 4 fitting perfectly on PH's hat.... Lol

Well, points for you just in case they don't run away and the game doesn't start the chase for you because you are too far away. Anyway, it's not that it "bothers me" what they do (t-bagging), it bothers me what they're trying to do. I do believe that mocking is a low blow even in a game, because they're not mocking against a survivor/killer, they're mocking against a person. And they will mock them in the post-chat, or toward message afterward wich is not cool at all.

I understand what you're saying, but this kind of behavior exists in all games.... people will crouch on your body on every other game that it's possible! CoD, CS:GO, Halo, all of these games have had this kind of behavior since their inception, and people just learned to not take it so personally and get over it. I think the problem is that Killers think that they're "better" than the Survivors and feel that the Survivors shouldn't be allowed to taunt them.... and it's not even like they're crouching up and down on your body! So, it's just crouch-spamming and I think it looks silly. I myself am not bothered by it because I know they're just players in the game like me, and none of us are better than the other.

And if you don't want to deal with people in post-chat, just skip the end-game chat.... or block messages if you're on console!

You'll never be able to stop people from trying to undermine or mock you in video games.... best you can do is just grow some thicker skin, ignore them and move on. When you show them that you're upset over their words, they'll just do it more. If you ignore them, they won't get as much satisfaction out of what they're doing, and they'll probably stop! I myself say "ggs" at the end of every game I play, Survivor or Killer, win or loss, and I never see toxicity in end chat.

Konami went from a respectable company, to one I despise as much as Bethesda. They treat their employees like Blizzard does, and they cut ties with Hideo Kojima, and proceeded to ruin his franchise, Metal Gear. Now they make a ######### pachinko machine instead if a proper remaster for Silent Hill AND Metal Gear.

Im particularly incensed with the departure of Kojima. Konami would be long forgotten if it wasnt for him

Like I said on a previous comment, I don't want this thread to be about "Konami bad company", so I'm not discussing anything more about them. Just wanted to share my findings about the possibility of Silent Hill being the new DLC!

Look it up, dude. Konami literally locked him in their offices and did not let him even go home. Konmi held Kojima hostage. It was not a money thing. It was a long standing feud between Konami and Kojima and they, literally, held him hostage in the offices.

You sound like you have no idea what happened, so just stop trying to talk about it.

How would you like it if BHVR stopped making DBD and just made plinko games? The Trapper Jackpot Machine! The Nurse Pachinko! Would not not feel upset that they ditched the actual fans that made them a company to make some BS not even related to the IP?

It's that they hold many beloved VIDEO GAME IPs and stopped making VIDEO GAMES. So fans are, rightly, upset. Stop with this 'Well, it's just not games YOU want' tripe. The stopped making VIDEO GAMES with their VIDEO GAME IPs. And fans hate them for it. Fans want them to sell the IPs they're not using so we can have a new Silent Hill, or a new Castlevania, etc.

Instead of freaking Castlevania: The Slot Machine.

You're acting like they took all of their games off the market and confiscated every copy of every game they sold.... you can still play all of the games they've made, you know. They just don't want to make games anymore. You're acting like these gaming companies OWE you entertainment.... but they really don't owe you anything. Yes, I can be upset if a company discontinues a franchise that I like, but to hate them and act like they owe me new games for the rest of my life is completely asinine. They can do whatever they want with their property.

Sorry, but I don't want this thread to devolve into a senseless argument about "Konami bad company", when I was just trying to put out some research I had done about the possibility of a Silent Hill chapter, so I won't be replying to you anymore.

    Stop

    It's not, It's just not.

I swear to God if anybody ever even mentions the fact that the number "4" is shaped like Pyramid Head I'm going to lose it. OF COURSE IT IS It's the FOURTH anniversary aka the number Four. The devs can't change how the f*ck numbers or time works I could have told you that the number 4 looks kind of like Pyramid head four years ago and it would be utterly meaningless. That is purely coincidental, that's not actual evidence.

I mean seriously "The number four has a triangle in it... Pyramids are made of triangles... OHMYGODIT'SPYRAMIDHEAD"

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/957/image.png

That sh*t is conspiracy on the level of drawing triangles everywhere and saying "illuminati confirmed"

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/366/image.png

It is stylized in the form appropriate for a horror game / thematic. There is nothing more to read into that image, because if the 4 had significance than that means the whole image would require significance, what does the color pallete mean, why did they choose black and gold? Where is the connection of Gold to the Silent Hill franchise? What does the Skull mean? Why is there a black liquid oozing from the skull? How is that connected to Silent Hill? and so on and so on.

By this logic you'd also have to contend with Candyman as a potential candidate, based off the image alone. You don't have to change the number 4 that much if at all to draw comparisons to Pyramid Head, in fact I'd say it'd be basically impossible to draw the number 4 without looking like a side profile of pyramid head that's why I say it's completely coincidental. However, the decision to drag out the last line of the number 4 all the way down to the bottom of the image slowly getting thinner and thinner is a deliberate art choice made by whoever on the team was responsible for creating the art.

It almost looks like it's dripping, and what is gold and drips slowly like that? Honey. What killer is connected to Honey? How about The Candyman who was coated in the stuff and burned alive. That and considering the repeated use of the gold color spattered and speckled across the entire image I'd say you would have a stronger case for Candyman than Pyramid Head.

If I was a betting man I would be putting my money on Candyman considering all of those were deliberate art choices the team had to go out of their way to create making them much more likely to be hints. Whereas almost any 4 you could draw would at least look similar to the image of a side profile of pyramid head.

However, I don't put stock into either theory because it's just a teaser image for the 4th year anniversary, there are likely no "clues" or secret "hints" to find there, that would be far too predictable and easy to puzzle out. It's not like the third year anniversary teaser with the blood spatters making a three had any connection to the nearest chapter that was going to be released then at the time (Which I believe was Ghostface if I remember correctly)

And to put a serious dent in your it is "iconic in the world of horror since it's release" and "classic" argument, (which was partly based on Wikipedia of all things, really? Wikipedia is 50% of your sources? The one source that every english class ever tells you not to cite??) it is frankly not. "The world of horror" as a whole is far older than video games, and to be quite frank the video game industry is still very, VERY much new and pales in comparison to the much older and established industry of Film and TV who reach audiences at a far more expansive level and far wider range beyond even the most popular video games.

The characters that are most well recognized in terms of horror but just generally in all things are the ones that are shown on the big screen, people who aren't gamers are not going to know who Pyramid Head is. Hell, I'm a gamer and I'm not interested in Konami or the Silent Hill franchise though I've heard about it. Making such an announcement would only be interesting to a select audiences ears and nobody else, but those same people would on the other hand recognize the bad-ass Xenomorph, or super creepy Pennywise the dancing clown, or the Predator, or Pinhead, Candyman, literally anybody else.

Can Pyramid Head ever make it into the game? Absolutely, and he'd probably be super dope and creepy too. But for this chapter? The one that has been hyped up as the singlehandedly most important and emotional chapter in the history of Dead By Daylight TO DATE? Hell no. If that were actually true I and I assume very, very, very many other people would be incredibly disappointed.

I'm sorry if you don't want Pyramid Head or Silent Hill to be the Anniversary DLC, but there are a lot of people who would like it a lot (myself included)! Just wanted to make a post to share all of my findings and research in regards to it being a possibility. 😋

Konami no longer makes games. Konami makes video-game-themed gambling machines.

I'm not talking about Team Silent, I'm talking about Konami. Konami has not given a squat about video games for years. They use their IPs to make slot machines and pachinko machines.

I'm saying Konami would not give the IP because Konami does not care. They sit on some great IPs and do nothing with them but crank out a new slot machine or pachinko machine themed to the IP to keep it legally theirs.

I think you missed my point, and maybe I should have been more clear.... let me replace the last sentence in my reply to you with, "I think that **Team Silent** isn't making any more games simply because Team Silent doesn't want to." They are (or were) part of Konami, and they don't want to make any more Silent Hill games. And if a company wants to no longer make games in a franchise, then that's their right.... I mean, I'd cry if Bethesda decided to never make another Fallout game, but it would be their decision and I would completely accept it. It's their property and they can do what they want with it. Same with Konami. And a company doesn't have to give/sell their IPs to people just because they're no longer using them....

Knowing the internet, I think this "Konami only cares about gambling machines" business has been blown up and overhyped by internet users, like countless other things have been. If Konami wants to make gambling machines, then they can make gambling machines. If they want to make games, then they can make games. Honestly, their property is their property, and they can do whatever the heck they want with it. If they receive a big offer from BHVR wanting to include one of their IPs in DbD, well.... they can do that, too!

  • @SpaceCoconut said:

It's like no one actually played the game.

    Remember how fast he is?

He's not too slow when he's using the spear....

And besides that, they could easily adapt him for DbD's gameplay! They did so with all of the other licensed characters, and they all turned out fine (especially Demogorgon!), so I'm excited to see what they could do with Pyramid Head.

  • @Entity_Hugs said:

Sadly, probably not. Konami owns Silent Hill and only makes pachinko machines now. They basically stopped caring about video games. They sit on some of the most beloved IPs and just shrug and make gambling machines out of them.

Konami needs to go bankrupt & sell their IPs to competent people.

Just because the team within Konami who made Silent Hill (Team Silent) doesn't make the games anymore, doesn't mean that Konami wouldn't be willing to work a licensing deal with another company like BHVR!

Here's something I read from the Wikipedia page: "He (CGI Director Takayoshi Sato, who created the story of Silent Hill 2) said that the development team intended to make Silent Hill a masterpiece rather than a traditional sales-oriented game, and that they opted for an engaging story, which would persist over time – similar to successful literature.". Reading this, I don't think that the original development team intended for games to be made decades into the future -- they wanted to make a franchise that was memorable and existed on it's own, without needing to continue to make games to keep the franchise alive. I think that Konami isn't making any more games simply because Team Silent doesn't want to.

  • There was actually a discussion about this about a week ago (https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/151997/gen-tapping-needs-to-be-fixed), and I think it was pretty much discussed as much as it could be!

But yeah, I do agree. I posted a decent solution to it right beneath the original post, and I think implementing it would be a nice QoL change. 😏

It could also mean that one of the devs or design team is a huge fan of the Silent Hill series and just wanted to make a reference to it. ;-)

That is a possibility, true.... but I feel more inclined toward it being a hint! 😋 It seems like the perfect hint, too.... very subtle but clever!

  • @mottigedel said:

You would expect the 4 would be written like a normal 4. So i do see a point in that they changed some lines in that 4 to match the pyramid head.

Exactly! I'm convinced that it was designed that way for a specific purpose, i.e. to give a hint as to the Killer being Pyramid Head.... and thus, from Silent Hill!

The killer most likely has more points than you, they don't want you to stay. Personally I hate it when people waste my time staying right next to the exit line, or wait next to hatch. It's ######### boring, and since it's the safest time in the game you meet toxic idiots who use the time to tbag.

If you're not needed for rescuing someone, leave. As killer I'm going to get a game straight away when I queue, you're the one wasting your own time, just so you can *charitably* give a measly 300bp (for which I've already maxed out).

Okay rant over TY if you actually read all that.

I mean, even when I used to do it I didn't do it when I was the last person left! I'd only do it if a teammate was still outside the exit, or if the Killer was chasing me into the exit in the first place.

And I personally (playing Killer) let the Survivors heal up in the exit, then hit them before they leave! Points for them and points for me! But, I'm a pretty laid-back gamer. 😎

  • What? If you're upset about Survivors in the exit gate, walk at them and make them leave, and get in a couple more hits if possible. I used to stand on the exit line to let the Killer hit me a couple times for points, but I don't do it anymore because Killers thought it was "toxic".... so I guess they don't want extra points.

And if you're going to call Survivors sitting in the exit "being toxic", then yes, Killers CAN be toxic toward Survivors equally as much. They can facecamp you out of the game, hit you on the hook repeatedly for no reason, slug you and let you crawl around until time runs out/they find the hatch and shut it in front of you. All of these behaviors can be pretty annoying, just like you find it annoying for Survivors to sit in the exit and crouch at you, or click a flashlight (neither of which can ACTUALLY impact the game in any way, unlike a facecamping or slugging-at-endgame Killer).

And Killers CAN hug walls just like Survivors.... it doesn't look or feel the same since you're in third person as Survivor and first person as Killer, but it can be done.

  • I love playing against Onis and Demogorgons, but they're rare (especially Oni.... so sad). I really don't mind playing against Ghostface when they actually use their power for stalking and not just to be a faster T1 Myers, but that's rare as well!

I actually enjoy playing against Freddys when they're using Pallets instead of Snares, but that's rare.... so I wish I faced him less. Another Killer I face frequently and would like to face less of would be Pig. Playing against Pig is extremely boring to me, and they're usually campers/tunnellers as well, not to mention the pointless RNG of the traps (always seems to be the last box I check....) so it just makes for uninteresting gameplay. If more Pigs used her crouch + dash effectively, it would be more fun.... but that is not the case.

  • Lol, I know the feeling.... I used to get first hook Mori'd constantly, but lately it's not been so bad. And that's because I've been doing one thing.... lobby dodging!

I know, I know, only Killers are supposed to be able to lobby dodge, but get this: I haven't been mori'd in many, many games because I avoid having certain Survivors on my team. My "avoid" list consists of: Survivors with TTV in their names (or names like "Mori Me x" or "Play x"), key users, Blendettes, bunny Fengs, multiple flashlights, and three-man SWFs (since I'm the solo)! Avoiding lobbies with these people in them has cut back on the Mori usage in my games significantly, and I've actually been having very fun games against fair(er) Killers with GGs all around (even if the Killer wins!).

Kinda sad that Killers will take such offense at these gamers (except for the key users.... they're always Blendettes, too.... no sympathy for them 😈), but you gotta do what you gotta do if you don't want to be first-hook Mori'd!

(Also, watch out for the Killers who instantly ready-up when they get into a lobby.... I do it when I'm playing Killer because I don't care who I'm going up against, but a lot of Killers in my experience will instantly ready-up because they have an Ebony Mori equipped.... they probably feel assured that they're going to win easily, so it doesn't matter whom they face!)

  • I completely agree. Huntress being 4.4m/s and being slowed when holding up a hatchet (even if you want to immediately throw it) AND while putting it away, and also having her lullaby and a mapwide notification sound when she readies a hatchet, honestly makes her less viable than Deathslinger (who is also kinda bad) in my opinion. And believe me--I used to be one of those Survivors who lauded Huntresses' ability, and thought she was truly A tier or better.... but no longer. I've played against many P3 Huntresses, Huntress mains and even Hated Addon Huntresses, and I must say that I escape against Huntress more than against any other Killer.... and surprisingly, my teammates do as well!

The reason I say that Deathslinger is more viable than Huntress is because he just does certain things better, except maybe pallets.... but he can pull people around certain pallets, so there's that! He doesn't have a lullaby, he has a small terror radius which can be made even smaller, and his harpoon gun is much faster to use than Huntress's hatchets and the projectile has the same travel time as a fully-charged Hatchet (with no mapwide notification when it's ready to use). Playing against Deathslinger is thrilling, while playing against Huntress is "hold W and circle the pallet until she gets close enough, then vacuum backwards and hit her with it". And you're right--Huntress is pretty bad on most maps. Surprisingly, the only map that I consistently do well on when I'm playing as her is Hawkins! But other than that, she's just so slow, and with her hum being far-reaching it makes for easy hides when she draws near.

  • I almost always use Lightborn when I see flashlights.... not because of flashlight saves (easy to avoid without Lightborn), but because of being Blinded At Every Single Pallet. I didn't use Lightborn on a game where a Steve had a flashlight and he proceeded to double blind me at every pallet he dropped. It is a very unpleasant experience.

I honestly wouldn't use Lightborn if they removed the silly double-blind mechanic.... kinda ridiculous that you can just shine your beamer at the already blinded Killer and it'll instantly apply it again! 😤

I have a question, have you even seen Candyman before? He's got one of the most tragic and interesting backstories in horror and he doesn't kill people with bees. The bees are more an aesthetic thing and if they got Tony Todd to make small voice lines like they did for Ash along with the voices in the background like they have for madness 3 doctor that would be dope.

You're hyping up Pyramid head as if he's got the legacy or backstory of Jason, Michael, Freddy, and co. though and I'm a huge fan of SH2.

I doubt it's Pyramid head as konami only cares about abusing the series for gambling machines at this point.

I will admit that I have never seen the movie! But, I'm just going off of how well-known he appears to be, and it doesn't seem to be very much. Looking at the movie's Wikipedia page, the "Legacy" section is not even a paragraph worth of material. And I personally have never even heard of him until just recently (due to the speculation about the new killer), while I am aware of many, many other horror characters in media. I'm not doubting that people thought his movie was fine, or it had good writing/screenplay/story, I'm just saying that he's not really ICONIC or even really well-known like many other characters from horror media.

The reason I believe that Pyramid Head (or just Silent Hill in general) would be a better fit is that Silent Hill IS iconic in horror media. Horror games are a part of the horror media, and Silent Hill, along with Resident Evil, are two of the most iconic, if not THE most iconic horror game franchises to date. Many, many horror games over the years have been inspired by Silent Hill, so I think it's safe to say that it's pretty well-known and iconic in the gaming world. Just because it's not as well-known as horror movie characters and is video game horror doesn't mean that it's not "iconic" in it's own way, i.e. in the gaming world!

I'd also like to say this: If a company decides to no longer continue a video game franchise, what's wrong with that? Maybe they ran out of ideas for further Silent Hill games. I think that many gamers take it as a personal insult when a company no longer wants to continue a series.... like they're owed games from the companies they like, when that is not the case at all! And I don't understand calling it "abuse" of their series, when they own it and can do whatever they want with it. It's not like the franchise has it's own personal rights or anything.... 😋

Its not a blow to our pride...AT ALL. It might be a little annoying to a small percentage. Most of us just laugh at you

I'm meaning the fact that a Survivor got out of the hatch, not just the Survivor D/C'ing for it! Many Killers seem to get upset when a Survivor escapes through the hatch in their games, be it through using a Key or their teammate D/C'ing, or even just finding it before they do. I myself don't care and often give the last Survivor the hatch or exit (if they played well), but that's not the case for many other Killers 😏

Nope! A Quitter Bonus is only 625 brutality points. You know, the category which isn't too hard to earn.

Hooking someone gives you 700 points in Sacrifice. (500 for hooking them + 200 for each hook stage event)

    https://youtu.be/32cKgfLGq-8

Here's footage of a TACTICAL DISCONNECT causing a Leatherface to depip.

So YES. It's a BIG freakin' problem. It can also be used for stuff like countering blood warden etc.

I should have been more clear--you get 600 points when the Survivor disconnects, and then 625 points per D/C'ed Survivor after the game is over. So, 1225 points per D/C'ed Survivor! Although I do understand, it isn't in the more important category per se, but at least it's something.

I would also like to point out that if it's down to two Survivors and one of them is disconnecting for the hatch, that means that two Survivors are already dead or have disconnected (unfortunate, but extremely rare). Which means that the Killer has at least gotten a few hooks between the two dead Survivors, AND the points for the kills.

But, in regard to that video: Even with the kills, he only would have gotten a safety pip. 4 generators being completed in 5-6 minutes tanks your Gatekeeper medal.... so that was just an unfortunate game where very little pressure was applied to stop generator progress. If he had kept the game going on longer, he would have gotten at least a safety pip even with the D/C and hatch escape.

So, no. I wouldn't say it's a BIG problem, because a killer who plays well and keeps the game going for a good while will still get enough points to avoid the depip, even when they D/C for hatch. This was just a game where the Killer didn't apply enough pressure to stop generators from being done too quickly. And he was playing Bubba, who isn't exactly known for his "mapwide pressure". Not blaming him or anything, just saying that you can't blame his loss of pip on D/C'ing for hatch. It's still the Survivor's choice if they want to lose all of their points and depip just to let their teammate escape, and I personally don't think it's a very good trade.

  • @evilwithinIII said:

Yeah disconnect for the hatch shouldnt be in the game.....

They should make the animation of the endgamecollapse death the same as a death of disconnect.

And then only make it that the hatch opens AFTER this animation.

Judging by the fact that the person who disconnects loses ALL of their points and goes on cooldown, I'd say that disconnecting for hatch really isn't a problem.... the Killer also gets 1225 points for a Survivor disconnecting, so it's not a loss by any means. I think it's a blow to the Killer's pride more than anything....

I say if a Survivor wants to be foolish and lose all of their points + depip because they want their teammate to have the hatch, then whatever. I personally wouldn't do it (and haven't done it), myself! But, it really only hurts one person in the end--the person who D/C'ed.

  • Definitely Gas Heaven and Azarov's Resting Place (and basically every other Autohaven Wreckers map).... and Family Residence as well.

Like I mentioned in a previous thread, Gas Heaven is basically an easy win for Survivor and a pain in the rear for Killer. I hate playing on that map on either side!

Azarov's Resting Place is possibly the most Survivor-sided map in the game. If you play against smart Survivors (and aren't playing giga-terror radius proxy-camping Doctor which I seem to go up against too often on that map), they can easily do the right generators and secure an easy win. And when I play Survivor on that map, it's almost always an easy win, unless it's against the Doctor I mentioned previously.

Family Residence is horrible. It's dark, expansive and I almost always seem to play average height killers on that map. Even the most brightly attired Survivors can hide in the grass.... I was hiding easily while wearing the bright blue Nea hair on a game today. I actually like Sanctum of Wrath now that it's smaller and harder to play on as Survivor, but Family Residence needs to be altered badly. You can hardly see scratch marks on that map.... and forget about seeing blood trails unless you're using Bloodhound.

Well, the devs have already stated that every killer they make will have the same basic attack range. However, I can see them making the spear his basic attack, and have his sword be his power. Sort of like the Demogorgon's shred. Maybe a charge up while he gets it ready, followed by a charge attack where he drags the sword along the ground and swings upwards at the end. Like, anchor him in place for a second. Could be useful in certain situations, but useless in a loop. Of course, that hotel would have to be the map, with James as the survivor. Though I could see the city itself being the map. Wouldn't even need an outer wall then. Could just have those parts where the ground is missing like in Silent Hill 2.

I see.... that could work, alternating between sword and spear! Maybe they could make it so his basic attack hits all Survivors in front of him.... even better anti-hook bomb Killer than Leatherface? 😏 I was thinking maybe he could have a cool ability where he thickens the mist in a certain meter-wide radius around him.... and his terror radius goes away.... and he switches to using his sword (which is a one-hit down)! I think it'd be really cool and I'd love to play as and against him!

Either way, I'm sure they'd come up with something good for him! I mean, Demogorgon is a cool Killer, and they really did a good job with him! Very unique and all that. I have high hopes for Pyramid Head, if they decide to add him!

Pyramid Head scary? That's hilarious and he was never scary, even in SH2. Downplaying Candyman as just a hook hand and bees while praising Pyramid Head as if he isn't the slowest lumbering villain the game could get. He'd be slower than the nurse.

I mean, that's just your personal preference.... there are plenty of people who find him to be scary! And they would of course alter him for DbD play, so he wouldn't be slow as molasses or anything (or maybe they could work around it in a cool way?). I mean, they added other licensed Killers to the game and made them fit just fine (Demogorgon is great!), so I'd love to see what they would do with Pyramid Head!

But, on the flipside, I personally find Candyman to not be scary whatsoever. His appearance is unintimidating, he uses BEES (I can already see oodles of memes), and he just looks pretty goofy overall. Nothing particularly special about him, and I think most of his "horror" comes from shock and gore. Pyramid Head is mysterious, intimidating and disturbing, and has enough depth of character to fit nicely in the DbD world. From his wiki page: "They are usually portrayed as, at the most basic, violent monsters. A deeper meaning given to them explains their existences as deliverers of punishment and executioners of sinful humans.". With lore like that, I think PH would make perfect sense as a Killer!

But that's all in the gaming media, it's not rest of the world. Don't get me wrong, I'm not discrediting Silent Hill, it's a classic successful gaming franchise and I'm sure people may familiar with the name in the mainstream, but just because it was popular enough to put out a few movies, it didn't leave that same huge impact like Physcho, The Shining or Child's Play did.

Well, it did sell extremely well in North America, Japan and Europe, so that's close to "world-wide", don't you think? ;-)

And I understand that movies like the ones you listed might have a bigger impact (since they reach a wider audience), but I think that Silent Hill had an equally as powerful impact, except mostly in the gaming world. I would venture to say that Silent Hill has been the inspiration for many, many horror games that have been released and are still being released to this day!

I think what's happening is that there hasn't been a character from another *video game* implemented into DbD, only movie characters, so people automatically assume that there will only be movie characters added to DbD. I think that adding a character from another video game like Silent Hill, which has a legendary status among horror gaming, would be an extremely smart move on the devs' part, since it appeals directly to gamers. Imagine getting to play as your favorite horror GAME enemy!

  • I use STBFL on Huntress.... Lol

  • When your teammate tries to sandbag you because they know where hatch is (and want it for themselves), instead of doing generators while you're getting chased.... https://i.imgur.com/LpAGYEV.mp4 (the shack pallet waste is the greatest offense)

However, we all three knew where the hatch was, so her tactic didn't work.... but this has happened and my teammate has escaped for it before.... truly toxic!

I hope it is but I'm nearly certain it isn't.

I just watched this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Ih8Z139d5M) of someone talking about the clues that we have in Pyramid Head's favor! I think it's alright to be hopeful, it might not be him but it's definitely possible! :-)

I think it would be pretty sneaky on BHVR's part to put out red herrings like the candy tweet, while being far more subtle with clues as to what they're actually planning! But, I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

  • It's happened to me against a Legion before :( It's caused by the killer hitting the unhooker (haha) as they're unhooking you.

I've seen it reported many times in the bug reports forum, so I guess we'll just have to wait....

They said it's going to be a classic license that has "marked the world of horror since it's inception." So it has to be a person or figure that has created a cult following, sparked up some media buzz and have people still talking about til this day. There's an extremely low chance any ordinary person has heard of Pyramid Head.

Well, from Wikipedia: Silent Hill 2 is often considered to be among one of the best video games for its narrative. It ranked first on X-Play's list of the scariest games of all time in 2006. In 2009, IGN listed it as one of the five best horror video games created after 2000, and one of the twelve greatest PlayStation 2 games of all time. It ranked again in IGN's list of the top 100 PS2 games, and again in 2018, on IGN's list of the 100 greatest video games ever made. In a retrospective by Gamepro, it was the 26th best game for the PS2. In 2008, Gamesradar placed it on its list of the 15 best "videogame stories" ever, describing it as "a punishing tale not easily matched". In 2009, Wired News listed it as the 11th most influential game of the decade for its emphasis on psychological horror and exploration of taboo topics such as domestic abuse, rather than gore. In 2012, a top video games of all-time list by G4 television network ranked the game in 85th place. That same year, the game's narrative was ranked first on GamesRadar's list of The Best Videogame Stories Ever. Silent Hill 2 was listed as the number two top horror game of all time in the October 2014 issue of Game Informer, and number eight on GameTrailers's Top Ten Twos list of the best second franchise games in 2015.

According to the Silent Hill Wiki, "Silent Hill 2 is often called one of the greatest works of art in the survival horror video game medium."!

I also think that we're to assume that when they say "marked the world of horror since it's inception", they're meaning a franchise. Silent Hill has definitely marked the world of horror through games since it's inception, and it definitely still has a cult following and has reached the attention of media (they even made movies!). And I'm aware that many younger gamers probably wouldn't know about Silent Hill, but that doesn't really mean much, considering the fact that Silent Hill 2 was released in 2001.

I'm assuming that the Killer for a Silent Hill Chapter will be Pyramid Head due to the fact that he is (as I said in my original post), "One of the most well-known and iconic monsters in the franchise, turning into something of a mainstream and flagship figurehead for the series.". It would definitely make sense!

While I would love for Pyramid Head to be in dbd, I don't think he'd work very well. If they bring him in, he'd either wield a giant sword or a spear. In your first encounter with him, back in sh2, you're in a stairwell landing about 100 sq ft give or take. The encounter consists of avoiding him in that small space with no obstacles. So essentially, the sword slowed him down so much that he could be endlessly looped without any obstacles. Not to mention that it's a huge sword. Thing's massive. Devs are making sure that every killer has the same range with their basic attack, so it wouldn't feel right. And with the spear, I'm not sure he has the same impact. Not to mention that he sprints through that corridor after James and Maria. So he's either super slow. Like, 2.5 m/s speed killer, with a massive weapon, or he's a super mobile killer while loosing a major part of what made him so iconic in the first place.

They could make him slower than average speed, make him have a shorter lunge range than other Killers (Nurse herself has a shorter lunge range ((according to the wiki)), and T1 and T3 Myers have altered lunge ranges as well), and make his weapon hitbox longer to match his big weapon! And maybe he could have some kind of knockback to his swing, like if you hit a Survivor near a wall they would get launched into it (or if you hit a Survivor in general, they get knocked back a little ways, and can use less of their post-hit speed boost)! He could also be able to charge and swing his weapon around him, so it would be impossible to 360 around him once he caught up to you.

These are all just ideas, but I think BHVR could easily adapt him to DbD gameplay, without sacrificing too much of what he is in his own games. I mean, they added Freddy, Myers, Ghostface, Leatherface and Pig.... I'd love to see what they could do with Pyramid Head.

  • I've been having FPS drops exactly like yours on The Game and certain parts of Lery's for a while now.... I think it has something to do with the lighting and fog effects specific to those levels. 😥

  • Oni and Legion for sure! 👍️

  • I personally hope it's Pyramid Head with a passion.... an ACTUAL scary Killer to have in the game! And I would say Silent Hill is pretty iconic in horror in the gaming world (which is pretty dang big), not to mention that there were two(?) films as well. Resident Evil is iconic as well, so it could even be a Killer from there!

Either way, I'd be pretty happy that they're adding something from a real horror, not "Candyman".... what? Man with a hook and bees? I can't see that fitting into the game whatsoever, and I will be thoroughly disappointed if they add him. They were already pushing it with Deathslinger, since he's basically just an old man with a harpoon gun.... at least with the other human killers, they're wearing masks! (not hating on Deathslinger of course, just pointing out that he is not very scary whatsoever, and actually kind of plain--not really a "horror" game Killer)

  • @Unicorn said:

I honestly hope it isn't him, just for the sake of my shorts. Most likely will wet them from how scary he is.

Lol! He would be pretty darn scary, but I'm personally craving some Big Scares! It is a "Survival Horror", after all 😏

I love facing Killers like Ghostface and Myers (since they can creep around and catch you unawares), and I'd love for them to add another scary baddie to the roster to make it even more spooky!

Good point but plenty of the other killers people have been talking about are much more icon it both in video games and movies. Except for maybe pennywise at least.

I would be disappointed if it was Pyramid but I guess plenty of others would be excited

I understand! I personally would be super excited for Pyramid Head (since he's different and unique), and I'm really loathing the thought of them adding anything like Pennywise or "Candyman" (never heard of him until recently, and he looks boring). But it all boils down to personal preference, of course 😏

  • @Blindninja said:

They said iconic to horror since he was released. What makes you think Pyramid head is iconic to horror since release?

Well, "horror" doesn't just apply to movies, it can apply to games as well. With this in mind, I'm sure that horror game fans who have been playing for quite some time can agree that Silent Hill is a pretty iconic and spooky franchise, and Pyramid Head is (as the wiki stated) one of the most iconic monsters in the franchise! And it would be a very unique Killer as well.

  • That's perfect! I would have done the same thing. I always try to give the hatch to the best player on my games, and if the Nea had been looping me well then I'd probably think "I want a teammate like this in my Survivor games" and try and find the useless teammate instead. Don't want the bad Survivors getting hatch and ranking up to where they're not wanted.

  • Why do you think it's appropriate for you to tell me to change my hairstyle in a video game because it offends you for some reason? Imagine feeling threatened by a cosmetic in a video game....

And if I liked the basic beanie, I would use it.... so again, trying to force someone to change from a cosmetic that they prefer just because you don't like it, or actually being TOXIC towards them because they're wearing it.... crazy entitlement right there.
