What i am not understanding personally is why they arent communicating WHY this change is being made. if this si whats intended then you did so for a reason and thats fine. you know that obviously this change is unpopular but you seem to be unwilling to explain why this change is being made. if you had a good reason to do so it might help with the backlash with why we are supposed to enjoy the biggest celebration in the games history with a bunch of people who have played up till when the game first released(like myself) and then make them feel like you are taking something away from them.
i dont personally care too much about the cakes, i dont need 1k in my inventory but it doesnt feel fun when after every single match i have to spend 1-3 bloodwebs on surv to pull a single cake.
and currently i dont believe auto bloodweb is actually prioritizing cakes because i have witnessed multiple times the entity taking the cake instead.

On cross-examination - if its overperforming, then by all means nerf it.
But in relation to this:
You can still hear people even with the music. It doesn't deafen sounds, it just makes it harder.I find it funny how much of the forums/social media is always in an uproar when survivors get anything that might make things easier, but the idea that there would be a perk that would limit 'some' of the ways to track survivors in 'some' loops against 'some' killers and thus they would have to demonstrate more skill (or, play without their hand being held, to use the common insult thrown at survivors), well that's just unthinkable.
i mean it can be really hard sometimes to pick out foot steps over CLANG CLANG ALL HAIL THE POTS AND PANS BAND and there is no way to adjust that volume and it objectively can make it hard to hear a subtle sound like footsteps much less accurately pinpoint its location especially with people with various audio device quality or their own hearing capacity.
I can track people ok enough with just footsteps but there is a rewason thats not how the game was designed to track people and if you removed scratch marks and made all games havce elusive in chase your objectively drastically hurting the killers ability to perform.
sure it takes more skill to do, but skill requirement doesnt always equal appropriate or good gameplay decisions. and its not a crutch to rely on scratch marks and sounds and stuff because the game was literally designed around using those.
footsteps are supposed to supplement tracking not replace it.
removing all but 1 very minor supplemental tracking tool and expecting people to be ok with it because "skill" is not a good justification in my opinion.

Jason doesn't really need any big nerfs. I genuinely just think Thrill is incredibly problematic.
thrill shouldnt be nerfed though because 1 killer can use it really well though and im worried that or hexes will get hit because of 1 killer which i will strongly protest as a non jason player hex killer
-
i think i saw somewhere though i cont remember if this is real that the devs said it wasnt supposed to be working in chase anyways, that wasnt the design intention of it so i wouldnt say its a nerf so much as fixing the perk
-
i didnt dislike the original lighting much but i remember the map design feeling terrible but i cant remember exactly why
-
they shut it down due to it not being a viable service for them to provide for whatever reason so it wont be coming back
-
its also 2 people not on a gen/getting pushed off one and its 1 or 2 people being injured/downed.
in general 2 survs sticking together is good for the killer as it will almost always lead to a payoff of people not on gens/doing something productive thats a bigger payoff than someone turning 2 seconds to snap out of it be 1 second.
-
i dont think you used a single period and your whole post is like 5 run on sentences that makes your post very hard to read
-
-
so….playing the game like normal except for taking away every single aspect that makes the game worth playing.
why would i hook a survivor if the hook does nothing? why would i break a pallet if it comes right back? why would i do anything in this mode when it achieves nothing when i can just play the regular game mode?
and why would you penalise someone from playing thegame for killing survivors in a mode where they cant be eliminated from it?
-
almost 30-50% of pick up attempts roughly have someone going for a flashlight save which are incredibly annoying especially when survs arent always going down by a wall to look at plus sometimes you get blinded from impossible angles, and so while i dont slug to slug, i have no qualms about slugging and i will do it whenever its convenient or the smart move to do and i want to avoid the swarm of flashlights.
So they can enjoy hex the third seal from them being able to know where the slug even is if they wanna play that way lol

None movement based killers in this game feel completely terrible to play. My favorite killer in this game is Twins. They're cool and I enjoy how they look and the way they play. I enjoy their counterplay when facing one and I think they're an enjoyable killer. However, them being a none movement based killer feels terrible. If you get any map of a decent size you're just done for. You cannot pressure enough spots in the map to have a meaningful presence or impact on the match unless survivors are just bad and path bad.
This goes for any none movement based killer in the game btw. Pig? Terrible to play. Any 4.4m/s killer besides Jason and Blight? Completely awful to play. Ghostface, Trapper, Bubba, etc. I could go forever. These killers are incapable of pressure the map in a meaningful way without some way of traversing these insanely large maps properly. This is why killers hold 3-4 gens so much. I mean why would I willingly walk to the opposite side of the huge map just to lose 2 gens when I could just stay here and play this 3 gen.
I know the reason that maps can't be smaller is because of killers like Nurse, Blight, Kaneki, etc. but I feel like the devs could do something. Implement some form of the maps that are smaller for these killers that struggle so badly with macro pressure.
as a twins player, i introduce to you hex: the third seal. when they have no idea where the slug is or the hook is it buys you alot of time but big maps or obstacle heavy maps can really be a pain

”just because they cheated in the past, doesn’t mean they’ll cheat again”
that is correct. it doesnt mean that the time they cheated before was a hoax because they didnt cheat in another instance.
this is so logically absurd i would rather you not attempt to stick to your guns on this one lol

you don’t understand and likely never will, but regalia is something that should never and i do mean never be sold for profit, it never should’ve had an auric cell option, shane could’ve had some of his other cosmetics take the auric cell purchase point instead.
But native regalia is in fact sold all over the place in the usa. Im not sure about canada but in the usa regalia is not uncommon to be sold in stores in areas connected to natives.
So it seems that your attitude is not held by all other peoples, so probably hard to hold bhvr to that standard.

It functions exactly the same as wraith. Are you gonna be working a gen while injured against a wraith? or are you gonna go play passively?
i do the gen. you have more of a chance to get away from the gen with jason instead of wraith.
-
survs deciding to play like trash is on survivors, not the killer. survs need to play less dumb. not a killer porblem.
however i do think OE shouldnt be infinite as it creates too much of a psychological standoff that you dont get with killers who essentially can do the same thing like wraith. I also dont like the end gate situation which absolutely should almost always be a loss for surv 95% of the time, it feels with jason its a 100% loss which is too much.
it should feel like you have a 5 % chance of escaping.
reloading im not too worried by but i wouldnt be against reloading only at hooks if they remove the hook being saboed due to it.
im not familiar with his addons so no opinion there, but his haste should be shorter or equal to his power CD time, otherwise there is no point in him being 110 if a jason who uses his power often will effectively alwasy be 115%
probably only should have like 5 seconds of haste to allow to enter into chase without too much distance.
granted i think you would need to address that at 110 and now a m1 with also having pushed the surv farther away from you that he also cant be 110 and expect to be effective.

I don't want them to get buffs I just want them to get fixed.
if they fix the bugs, twins would be unstoppable. but no ill just continue to get collision with a rock 6 inches away or be incapable of clearing a pallet when im soaring through the stratosphere

Can we please nerf him before the Anniversary?
when you play 20 matches and 19 are against jason i cant really blame go next mentality but we should not balance killers on whether survs want to just give up and not play and screw their team over.

in 10 years of playing i have paid zero attention to quests or tomes other than the annoying period where every match had the tome pop up that blocked other buttons i wanted to press.
if ive done any quests they have been purely accidental lol.
-
it is bad in my opinion in comparison to the rest of his kit. you are giving a survivor a legitimate resource to be used which in some situations can benefit you.
Dream snare doesnt benefit survivors and while sure, i havnmt bothered to learn pallet timing, i have alot on my plate already and my regular skills and his other 2 abilities are plenty for me to dominate.
But im also probably the only clown player who will not use yellow bottles on him because i dont feel there is sufficient value from them and perform perfectly well on clown, hes probably my best performing killer.

God it's hilarious seeing killer mains close their eyes to how biased the devs are towards them. Jason somehow gets released in a broken state but god forbid survivors have a usable perk.
irony

im not opposed to it being changed but the tool tip is still correct. this is just a quirk of how english works.
while inferring what your friend thought isnt unreasonable it is in fact saying that you (the injured surv) will get healed slower so its not an incorrect description.

They are extremely powerful and great for two taps, if you still don't wanna use them just run the paint thinner add-on place them around the map nearby gens and mid and whatnot and you'll get value.
how are they powerful? when i tried them you can still get stunned by them and you have to time them exploding perfectly for when the surv goes through the loop which granted ive not practiced but just seems like it just leans as more of a resource for survs to use than a resource for your own use.
-
at a cursory glance i like all those options as they dont actually stop slugging from happening which i think is very important. many peoples suggestions make slugging effectively useless which is not a good decision. slugging is a proper way to play the game, its just not built around slugging a whole team.
But strategic slugging is super important and i think those generally with some fine tuning assist with limiting the people who have no intention to hook at all but not preventing me from being able to slug as i determine its needed.
i dont usually use gen slowdown perks so my favorite passive slowdown is using the third seal because a situational slug can be very potent when they arent just picked up 10 seconds later or when survs dont know where a hooked surv is and so you can get a free stage 2 or just more time on hook and not a gen and 1 or mor survs are off gen looking for them.
-
pretty sure consoles dont get text chats in game for nearly any multiplayer game
-
i think hes comfortable to use input wise. i dont use his blood pallets, they dont feel worth using over just the dream snare
-
i have a feeling the swithc versions will get dropped with that update
-
there is no mode, perk or killer that makes everyone happy.
they are not going to block what a bunch of people purchased and do enjoy playing as and against from the event because you personally dont find him fun.
surely you know that
-
ill always have to stand agains anything that makes totems easier to find as a hex build user, survs find and cleans them rapid fire so even if i can choose where they go, making them even easier to find will make hexes even harder to remain sustainable.
-
my hag and i guess all my killers i use a hex build with. currently i run undying and thrill to protect just 2 perks: the third seal and blood favor.
The third seal is a super slept on perk, its incredibly powerful on non discord call teams and is in my top 5 perks. and blood favor is super usefull since hag is incredibly useless against pallets and so being able to secure that first hit and actually having time to chase a loop to get the second is useful.
But hag is strongest with trapping the hooks, if you trap hooks right you can almost always guarentee a trade at minimum or a down on an injured before they lock into the unhook animation.
devour hope is awesome on her but you shouldnt use devour if your hook trapping unless you wait till after you get your 3 stacks first.
Rusty shackles is a almost must run for her in my opinion, it makes it much easier to get those initial hits or maintain momentum as you often lose alot of time in the early game
-
while i appreciate the sentiment, dbd has its own blood and its not going to change

-
i like how it is, its not that likely to proc all the way and its still a perk that can be removed from play before it gives any value and often will. hexes should be very strong if totems are going to remain lighthouses on top of a hill in the open.

Go watch competent teams and count how often they heal under hook. Healing under hook is the most time efficient way to heal unless the survivor has a way to heal themselves. If the killer chooses to come back the time taken to move away can easily be the thing that prevents the heal from completing. Run away and scratch marks give you away and even if you walk you will leave a blood trail without gaining any real distance. In solo queue especially its often heal under hook or don't heal at all. Just saying don't heal under hook is the typical no nuance bad advice so many people try to push onto the survivor role.
i would say 40-50% of my kills stem from healing under hook. i really think thats one of biggest ways for survs to get themselves killed.
If im not actively in chase, i will always rotate back to hook because 90% of the time 2 or more survs are hook healing which equals another hook for me in very little time
-
i think the cooldown between uses needs to be increased a bit.
in the games ive had it becomes stalled out fairly consistently because he can get to each gen real fast and get pressure so easy that even smart rotations and such makes it really hard to progress the game in any direction. I think there shouldnt be as much time as available currently in OE mode. thats my only critique of jason thus far
-
there should not be chase timer differences, there isnt a rule on how fast you should get a down with each killer, thats got a ton of variables and is subjective. there should be an even playingfield in a 1v1. different killers with different target times is not a even playing field.
use the sandbox mode for that.
-
i mean, this isnt going to happen, there is also no actual business sense to engage with this at all. they as a company smartly avoid getting themselves into the whole "killers are too weak" "killers are too op" conversation. they will allow everyone to rant and rave about how much the game sucks but they stay silent on it and while people dont like that, its smart and its probably a reason the games lasted the way it has.
there are more potential cons than pros in this for behavior so they arent likely going to acknowledge it much less engage with it

Karaue wasn't even popular on day one, and everyone who wanted to play her just wanted cheese wins. Henry also didn't have much time in the sun, and his subsequent nerfs were barely noticeable.
But the "learn counterplay" argument doesn't make full sense. Why are people instantly good with a killer they don't know either yet survivors are expected to just lose against them cause the killer is new? Why is it fine and normal that it takes no learning time on the killer side to win all your matches?
i would say because the default power balance in a 1v4 should lean to the 1v4.
so on any kind of 1v1 on similar experience levels there should be a default slant towards the killer performing better.
killer powers can require different playstyl;es.
survivors play the same ways regardless of the killer other than perhaps adapting to your power.
you definitely dont need to learn as much with a new killer other than the power sicne survivors are still going to run the same perks, run the same loops and run the same plays.

Please bare in mind I'm not trying to come off as aggressive but it's a bit hard to stop myself given some of the sass you delivered at the end there.
Let's assume good intent when reading these messages :) None of my prior message was meant to be sassy, but its always possible to read something online and interpret it in an unfavorable way.
I do want to spell out why I think the end-game scenario in my OP isn't possible against Jason since it seems like we're talking past each other. Looking back at my OP, the primary concern i have with unlimited duration is this endgame scenario (although the other early/mid-game scenario also justifies a limited duration on his power IMO).
- The info provided by Omnipresent Evil allows Jason to detect a stationary survivor, such as a survivor opening a gate. So he should always be able to tell which gate is being opened
- Because Omnipresent Evil provides a significant mobility boost, Jason can rapidly get to whichever gate he sees you stationary at.
Based on the above two points, I dont really see how a solo survivor can escape if hatch is closed outside of the rare chance a survivor brings a key.
The typical "hail mary" survivor escape against every other killer if hatch is closed is for the survivor to go to one of the gates and either immediately open it and pray or hide near the gate and wait for the killer to check it then leave (mind-gaming the killer into thinking you're at the other gate) and then begin opening the gate they leave. This last-ditch effort isn't really feasible against Jason as far as Im aware, since he should always be able to interrupt and kill you.
You mentioned Jason potentially botching this scenario, so maybe you can help me understand how Jason can possibly lose this common end-game scenario? I will absolutely grant that key can be a counter, but even with a gate opening perk it seems like Jason should still be able to interrupt them pretty much 100% of the time?
just wanted to add that you will ALWAYS be able to interrupt a gate with wraith. i think his cloaked speed and OE are the same or very close in speed.
if you trap one or both gates as trapper you will almost alwasy be guarenteed a gate interrupt.
hillbilly if not on an indoor map will always be able to interrupt a gate assuming hes not running into walls.
blight will always be able to gate interrupt.
twins with a short set up will always interrupt gates
nurse will always be able to gate interrupt.
this isnt unique to dbd.
if its a 1v1 you have already lost 99% of the time. the game allows you to abandon at end game when hatch is closed because except for very rare situations and lucky gate spawns you will be interrupted by the killer.

slugging is fine if its not overly excessive. going out of your way to 4man slug or slugging for a 4k is annoying but slugging 1 or 2 at a time for pressure or need is completely fine.
