  • Stealth is the best counter to Nurse since she takes so much to check a tile for people the gens can get out of control really fast.

In a chase LoS helps as you force her to guess the first blink and if you LoS after it force her to guess the second one.

There are also the breakable doors that when left alone turn select rooms into dead ends. I feel like some of the people on this discussion break the doors because they can and then regret their decision later. Like all maps that have breakable doors, not all should be broken.

I have noticed those doors are not like other maps breakables, the breakable doors at The Game isolate hooks instead of making infinite loops, I have had Survivors wiggle because the only close hooks were behind breakable doors.

If this is intentional my guess is they want Killers to strategize if either they want easier to access hooks or dead ends.

Why are you using it out in the open?

Exhaustion addons are being removed from the game

    Insta downs are rare

Being able to catch Survivors out of position is a skill on itself.

Insta downs are rare but there are there, if you really have that much problem with DH play a Killer with inbuilt exposed status or one hit downs.

  • @Johnny_XMan said:

I might be in the minority but I much would rather a survivor have DH than Sprint Burst any day.

Yeah me too, DH can be baited, can be countered with Exhaustion addons, cant be used against insta-downs, its pretty much useless outside of very especific loops and timings but 4 people with Sprint burst using it with brains can prolong chases by a LOT (by brains Im not talking about those who wait until you are close and sprint so you swing at the air, Im talking about the ones who actually manage to disengage you before you even get to chase them by running and going LoS in a maze).

  • I genuinely get eye strain from the new HUD, first its too small and too dark, I have very poor eyesight and it forces my eyes too much also the info is scattered around the screen, now to obtain the same amount of info I have to move my eyes more times than I needed before and to top it all, nobody asked for an UI change, the game has enough issues for them to tackle one of the few things that didnt have bugs or complains.

The animations some are good (crouching and downed) some are decent (running) and some dont look natural (standing still and hurt) and like with the HUD, not many people asked for new animations.

Add to the mix the PTR feedback was extremely negative, especially about the HUD and they just ignored it, people have a right to be angry when they are asked to try something and give an honest opinion only to see their opinion fall in deaf ears, especially when there was an overwhelming consesus.

  • It also has several of the strongest 3 gen openings Ive seen in a long time, not even old Blood Lodge or old Azarovs had such strong 3gen setups like Ive seen on the top floor of The Game.

Right, i know that, but i'm assuming OP is exaggerating. They are claiming that they had several games in a row where this happened. As someone with 1.5k hours, i have encountered less than 10 games with a hacker in them. They are very rare. So i'm assuming OP is incorrect.

I supposed he was referring to stuff weird stuff in general like bugs and hitbox problems not only hackers (which are indeed pretty rare).

  • @Reinami said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/226662/very-sus-match

Could have been a hacker, but legion can be very fast. Also it would be weird for only 1 survivor to be injured immediately. Are you sure that survivor wasn't running "No Mither"?

The way OP speaks this looks like a hacker more than anything else, I play Legion and they are not THAT fast to injure 2 people almost simultaneosly in different edges of the map, not even Hillbilly is that fast.

  • It has happened before with Ormond, when it launched the map broke the game so it was disabled and when it came back online at least one of the tiles from Ormond had dissappeared forever (a huge orange snowcat-like truck).

  • I had a mile away hits in Corn and Ormond today.

  • Bads: HUD, hitboxes, hurt and standing animations, animation transition (from standing to running, from crouching to running etc, they feel... robotic), bus and greenhouse bugs.

Neutral: Crotus Penn is extremely hard to follow scratch marks, Clown is almost the same but has more options.

Goods: crouching, downed and hatch from ground animations, The Game map is more bearable, not sure about this but I saw some console players saying they have less FPS issues, I dont play console so they should have to support or deny this.

BBQ i like a lot but I doubt I'd use it much without the bloodpoint bonus. I use it so much just because of that

For me, problem with BBQ is I play slow mobility Killers like Myers and Jigsaw, when I get a hook I can see people in the end of the map and Im sure they will be long gone once I arrive there on the other hand, Surveillance gives me info on what gens are being touched which is almost always the most important place to apply pressure, its very useful for stealths because their insignificant Terror Radius, you kick a gen, go towards wathever you were going, look back and if it turned yellow you can surprise whoever is there, is also excelent to know when to stop chases and go protect the valuable gens and it does give a general idea on how progression is going once you have to protect only 4 or 5 gens.

Spies on the shadows has the advantage it tells you which direction and position a Survivor is going and it works during chases and mindgames, Survivor tossed the pallet on a high wall and you get the alert on the left? he is going left you can use that info to fake a pallet break and surprise them, no other detection perks does that without having a huge CD or a ridiculous activation condition.

Some people have said Whispers gives info more consistently but it has 4 drawbacks, smaller radius, the noise can muffle breathing and steps, it just tells you somebody is somewhere in a 32 radius but not their position at all (a 64 meter circle is a lot of ground to search for someone) and it doesnt work near hooked people (the hooked Survivor activates Whispers). Its more useful during EGC times thats true but Id rather have a bit less more concise info than a lot of unreliable info all the time.

  • It depends, fixing 1 gen between 2 people is not always the best course of action.

For example if the Killer is distracted it may be better to start working in 2 separate gens so he has to watch over more space (and it actually makes gens go faster) or if the Killer has Discordance in other cases it may be better to fix 1 gen between 2 people, like wanting to get rid of a gen in an awful position to break a potential 3 gen or situated in a dead zone or to put pressure on the Killer.

I cant obviusly speak for each individual case you have had this problem but I have chosen to go over other gens in several instances because I had a good reason for not wanting to work a gen as 2 people (almost always is Discordance), in other cases Ive gone to the other guy and worked together.

  • Spies is good for stealth and speed Killers, especially because nobody uses it so nobody expects it, in my opinion the second best info perk for those 2 types of Killers (first being Surveillance for stealth and BBQ for speed).

  • Trapper needs QoL changes to make him less clunky to play, he is by no means weak but having to walk to the end of the map to recover one trap because the RNG decided to spam it there is absurd also he should have 2 traps by default.

  • If you think Jigsaw is unfair wait until you get to Freddy, Spirit and PH brackets...

I thought that type of intentional sandbagging is specifically about being chased and the other survivor sandbags you. Not in situations where you're both safe and a survivor does a bit of sandbagging.

Its sandbagging with the aim to disrupt, there are more disruptive things like blocking during a chase (like you said) or blocking in a corner and lighter ways like intentionally blocking a Hex or the Gates with the Killer far away. In this case, what if the Killer comes with NOED and the open animation gives him that extra time he needs to down you because that Nea didnt let you open first?.

I mean I wouldnt report that Nea just for this but that player was being disruptive to his own team on purpose, unless there was some kind of tactical reason like trying to avoid a Blood Warden scenario.

  • I have poor eyesight (almost 8 dioptres in both eyes and astigmatism) the new HUD gives me eye strain after playing for a while, also the information is not readily and easily available like it was, for example Deep Wound and Hook progression are very slim lines and before the new HUD I could check that in a glance and know how those timers were progressing, now I have to focus to be able to tell how they go.

The portraits dont work well because they are rather dark against a dark background so again, I have to focus to know who is who.

Then we go onto the position of the stuff, lets say Im playing Ghostface, I want to know how much timer is left to be able to activate Shroud and who is already stalked and how much, gotta look left bottom corner to check the timer, then I have to check top corner to see who is Stalked and how much, take on account the icons are very small, I have to focus my sight again and discern the small circles, suddenly a gen pops "that was the... second or third?" gotta check top center screen now, "oh crap how much was left on Shroud?", before this update I could glance at the bottom left and get all the information with big, white over dark icons, now I have to move my eyes around a big screen and focus my sight because everything important is too damn small and in dark tones.

My biggest concerns, aside from eye muscle discomfort (which is the biggest concern, obviusly) is the fact that nobody, absolutely nobody asked for this and the reason they gave us was "we are going to put more info into the HUD so we need to make space" is... fishy, what info? what else can they add? a totem counter? that doesnt need much space, just put 5 sticks near the gens in the old HUD and call it a day.

  • The hitboxes had to be fixed for they are obviusly busted right now, the HUD and the animations lets see what we actually achieved because those 2 things werent unintentional bugs (like the hitboxes), they were put in the game and had development costs.

  • Maybe they took pity on you and let yo go away.

  • @NoOneKnowsNova said:

The way I see it, it depends if its tactical or not. If you two are the only survivors remaining in the trial, then that's body blocking and is bannable. If the killer is right behind you and you'll get downed because of the Nea, it is bannable. If the Nea is waiting to see if any other survivor gets hurt or downed so you have a much longer period of time to make the save / to counter blood warden, it is a tactical play to ensure as many survivors can escape as possible.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong as this is something I wouldn't want to spread false info about.

Intentional sandbagging goes into disruptive gameplay/trolling, like I said depends on the situation but seeing what OP posted I dont think that Nea was trying to avoid a Blood Warden situation and instead being a troll.

  • Depending on the situation it may be a banable offense, it could go into intentional disruptive gameplay.

  • @darktrix said:

You can report it as a bug if it hasn't been already. Goods news is these tend to get fixed faster than...other things.

Yes, usually shop related issues are fixed and work way better than other services, I remember when WoW launched the servers had tons of issues, login servers went offline at random intervals, the official webpage and forums 404 a lot etc but the renewal/cancel subscription webpage always worked like a clock.

  • Autodidact, Bamboozle and Surveillance (the best information perk for low mobility Killers, much better than BBQ).

  • When you cleanse a Hex that Hex goes to Undying lit totem and the perk gets deactivated BUT you keep the tokens that Hex had (unlike old one where you had to start from scratch), also you only get aura reading from Dull Totems instead of all totems.

In other words, Undying will only save a Hex once.

  • @Phasmamain said:

People just need to criticise them in a constructive way. People saying they want to kill their own game are just overreacting. Instead of just saying to revert the hud how about showing them better ways to place the icons?

That’s just my take on it though

The problem is people was constructive (a lot were) during PTB and when the HUD got announced on livestream (or where it was announced first, cant remember) and all that feedback fell on deaf ears. Its normal for people to be angry after feeling completely ignored, some people are overreacting? Yes they are but seeing all that feedback go for nothing because reasons can be very frustrating.

Me? Im not gonna uninstall but the new HUD strains my eyes a lot, if I dont adapt I will have to cut my time playing the game and I think is sad to spend less time in my hobby because they made a change nobody asked and ignored every feedback because reasons.

  • In my experience the most toxic against the Killer are usually Neas, Feng Mins and Steves with ugly cosmetics, the most toxic against their own team I cant say for I think ive seen similar amount of traitors among the most used Survivors (obviusly Ive never seen Jeff or Adams being traitors because they are rarely played).

  • Once I played against a (old) Leatherface with a basement camping build.

He got his first catch and headed straight for basement, lucky for the guy I had head-on and was already at the shack so I got the tasty Head-On save and he turned to me, he did catch me after 1 minute and headed towards basement again, since I already suspected he was going for basement camp I ran to the edges of the map and I managed to wiggle, then I ran away towards the same corner I was downed, he caught me again, hooked me in a regular hook and started the facecamping.

Just when I entered struggle the 5º gen popped, someone went for door and my teammates came, he ignored them just revving his chainsaw in front of me, suddenly the hero we needed but didnt deserve appeared with a flaslight, blinded him and he started swinging blindly in a rage, I get unhooked and we all start running towards the Exit Gates, I get downed again close to the doors, my teammates try to give me space but in the end they are forced to stay away, he picks me up ready for that delicious awaited revenge kill and BAM!, Decissive Strike saves the day, I head towards the exit and get ready for mandatory butt-dances (reserved for these kind facecampers), my finger trembles with anticipation over the Ctrl key but a second before we can all start the ritual he disconects and starts throwing a tantrum in postgame chat.

That was the most salt I experienced in this game.

  • I disagree, changing after massive amounts of backlash doesnt show they care a lot, if they did they would have made adjustements to the HUD based on feedback before releasing it, that assuming they do backpedal (which I really doubt, especially with the animations).

Its like saying the goverments cares when they backpedal on something after people go to the street and start breaking stuff for 2 months straight, if they did they wouldnt have done wathever made people go bonkers.

So anybody that experiences eye strain from a UI all the way around the screen can't play

    Call of Duty:

    League of Legends:

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/7E0R45WJSEB8/image.png

    World of Warcraft:

    Civ 5:

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/6SC5Y6QESEZM/image.png

I'm sorry for making such a long post with pictures but those are just examples from the many genres that use UIs like this. I would be hard pressed to find any modern game that doesn't have stuff in 2 different corners at least.

It sucks that people that experience eye strain can't play these games but at that point they literally can't play 95% of all video games because dbd is one of the only games that had everything in one spot. No games do this anymore and the reason why is because it's useful. It was popular at one point in like 1996 with the original DOOM games but not in 2021. If a game wants to be even somewhat competitive they need a UI like this. Nobody plays Call of Duty or any other shooter you can name and goes: "WAIT.. I have to look in the bottom right in my screen to see my ammo count and then look in the top left to see my mini map?? NOOOO". That just doesn't happen. This was a good change and i'm just waiting for people to calm down about it and get used to it. it's modern game design.

Its not only about the position, its also about the size, the contrast with the background and the need to check that info regularly.

First image the minimap is pretty big, unlike the icons of the Survivors, also the mission objective and the compass on top is not info you need to check several times, plus the map has a nice contrast being light gray against a black circle.

The second is WoW which is know for being easily customizable with addons (most people do change the HUD to something else), also the bars are brightly colored and have a nice contrast against the background plus the info the portraits give is also available on the center of the screen (the damage you deal appearing as floating white/yellow text over the mob, the damage you receive appearing in floating red text over your character), the abilities at the bottom dont really need checking for once you memorize their hotkeys you dont even have to check them.

The third is CIV, a game that can be paused to check wathever you need without a hassle also the circle on the top left corner is the research you are doing, a mechanic that takes several turns to complete, the icons on the top right corner are the menus, both displays dont need to be checked regularly.

All these 3 examples arent valid because the problems are the new HUD in DBD is very small, fixed in a location, has very dark colors against a very dark background and is info you need to check several times in the lapse of a minute not once at the start of your turn.

  • @potato_ASF said:

the problem is, is it the vast forum/social media minority, or the silent majority of fast casual players?????

The numbers will talk, if they see a drop in players and overall less player engagement (time people spend playing) or if they see an increase or they just keep the same.

  • The sky may not be falling but my eyes are about to pop out of their sockets, the HUD just strains them too damn much.

  • I dont get motion sickness but I do get strained eyes, like when you have to search for something very small for a long time and you start to feel discomfort in the eyesockets.

  • I play Killer and the new HUD strains my eyes, I do look at every place butif I want to check the corner of my screen I move the camera and center it ALSO the icons are very small I have bad eyesight and it forces my eyes too much.

  • What really irks me is the reason we were given "we plan on adding more info and we need space for that", more info on what? what more info we could possible need or they could possible add? the game is not THAT deep.

The only thing that comes to mind is a totem counter but that doesnt justify such HUD changes, they could put it near the gens in the old one and it doesnt explain the awful portraits and the tiny bars.

They have been bad, yes. But they've gotten so much worse with the update, just watch some streams and play more yourself. The feedback on the forums say so as well.

Its weird, today I played against a streamer, when I finished the game I went to watch the stream and he was complaining about hitboxes and from his view he was right, some the hits did look like very far away, like they shouldnt have hitted him but from my view most of them were rather perfect distance except one hit during a pallet drop, but those are always janky.

I dont know what they did to hit validation, hit boxes and animations but they really messed something up.

  • @daggersnight said:

I really hope they revert this change. New UI is just way to spread out and small. I can't see hook timers and bleed out timers because they are so small. You use to be able to tell if someone was interacting with a downed survivor but that info is gone from the new UI. It just isn't an upgrade in any way but the hook counter and that is it.

I have some stuff to say about the new animations as well but I would be more tollerant of them if the old UI was back.

You just need to use the magnifying glass for it, youll get used youll see...

  • Great bait mait I rate it eight.

  • Yeah, I have it too, oh well, at least this bug doesnt affect gameplay.

making the new hud cost money and resources what are they going to do? go to the higher ups and say "so yeah the hud we made didn't go down well so we reverted it. we will be keeping the paychecks through thx"

I know its probably about that, I work in a megacorporation and a lot of changes "cant" be reverted because its essentially telling your bosses "you messed up, people hate it" but there is a difference between "we cant" because its literally impossible and "we cant" because we would have to acknowledge we messed up and we may get chastised.

  • Did you earn it in the rift and didnt claim it? because I believe earned and unclaimed stuff from rifts are added like that, but I think its just when the rift closes instead of when a new one is about to open.

  • @youngjun said:

I just noticed that Point show up right upper side LMAO....

I think developer don't know how to make UI good.

They know how to, the first UI is proof of it. Why they went with this "thing" is beyond reason, especially when it got panned after the stream AND during the PTB.

  • @xenofon13 said:

They said can't revert the old UI.

I don't know for the atrocious animations tho.

    They literally destroyed this game.

Unless they are bound by contract (which I really doubt) they can always revert to older versions.

  • @Dwight_Fairfield said:

There is a fat shame spot in fun bus on Autohaven for killer. I was playing Mikey and I couldn't walk through the bus on Wretched Shop no matter which side I walked through.

The survivors could walk through it just fine though.

Cant wait for people getting trapped there with the back window closed.

  • I agree with this poster and I would like to add to his feedback 3 of my own.

First, using the colored portraits for Survivors is a terrible idea because it doesnt contrast enough against the dark background, the good thing about the old system is that white has a lot of contrast against dark colours, if someone got hurt, healed, unhooked or wathever the change of the white colour would inmediately make you notice something has happened and take notice of it, using colored portraits makes it much harder to notice status changes on a whim, if you dont want to use the blank featureless thingy you have been using, OP has suggested a great idea, the Achievement portraits tell who is who and they are white, fixing both fitting and lack of fast info problems.

Second, the Deep Wounds bar is to thin, last game I played against Legion and when I saw 2 people getting hurt I didnt even notice it was Legion because the bar is miniscule, I notice it when I saw Frank barreling towards me with a knife, in that moment I tought "the heck? Legion? how come nobody is deep wounded?" then I saw the thin string and noticed "ah crap, its just very very smal".

Third the exhausted status circle (and I suppose the rest of status circles) is a red circular bar over another red circular bar, its hard to tell how much is left of it without having to force your eyes.

  • @Terro said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1929942#Comment_1929942

The answer is that they made it modular so it's easier to make changes and add stuff to the UI. As for why they did everything else with placement to the UI we can only guess.

They could have made the old one modular too or at least leave the things in their old position, the top left corner is an awful position suited only for information that doesnt require checking on a regular basis, there is a reason most FPS and RTS put the really important info at the bottom of the screen.

  • I would like to add 2 things, Clown music as Killer is too loud, I know there is supposed to be music to help Survivors escape but I couldnt even hear Injured Survivors clearly (they were not using Iron Will) also is extremely unpleasant to hear, Killer shouldnt be annoyed by his own chase music, the Survivors maybe since it adds to the confusion of being chased.

Second, the Antidote effect also adds a background noise, while not being as unnerving as the chase music it does muffle a lot of sounds like generator progress at a certain distance where I should be hearing if it wasnt for the sound effect.

  • @Pulsar said:

    It was before too imo

Every pallet on that map is safe.

Thats why it had the second highest kill rate (after Hawkins) with a 66,57% kill per game. Pallets were very safe but it was very small, very easy to approach Survivors without them knowing where you came from and extremely easy to 3 gen.

I don't think I understand your post. Down someone, hit the gate and hook that guy to earn a 4k? If I hook that one guy and earn a 4k then I've already downed 3 and I wouldn't have done nothing to earn it. Don't like NOED? Cleanse totems and counter it.

Blood Warden blocks the gates for 1 minute after you hook someone if they are opened, if you use that offering you suggest the total time EGC would last is 1 minute (-75% less of 4 minutes that lasts when someone is downed) which means its impossible to escape and everyone gets killed by EGC you dont even need to hit the other 3.

Ill be reiterative, if you want them to get out go there and smack them, EGC is fine as it is, its only 2 minutes.

I dont believe it, either thats a gross exageration, a lie or you have very selective memory. Ive played a lot of games these last days and Ive seen keys in 4 of them, I dont think they amount to being 5% of the matches ive played, and one of them was a key with plunderers, several chest offerings and one guy with Appraisal and Im Rank1 Killer so its not because I play against grays who dont even know what the Hatch or Keys are.

On top of that if people were encountering Keys in such high amount of games the forum and Reddit would be swarming with threads and they are not like when they changed Ruin and every Killer spammed Ebonies during a week.
