They said when the first Rift was released that the cosmetics were timed exclusives and they would be sold in the shop eventually. We all knew this.

Besides, the rift is kind of new. Thinking that someone is part of the "older" playerbase because they cleared the first rift is hilarious, not going to lie.

This, not only they said the Rift stuff would be on the store in due time but also the Rift was implemented in October 2019, they are not even a year and half old and the game is from 2016, so much for being the older playerbase...

I mean, for a start they cleansed multiple hex totems (3-4), They used DS multiple times, they each got 5K+ for escapes and obsession escaped points, They also worked on gens together a lot, they didn't heal an awful lot.

also I think the 10-13k is a bit misleading by a couple thousand

If they cleansed 4 totems and worked in the same gen without Prove Thyself and/or Toolboxes they werent genrushing.

They clearly did secondary objectives and went for gens in the slowest way possible (3 Survivors fixing 3 gens while working together is much slower than 3 Survivors fixing 3 gens each working alone).

I wouldn't say it's awful on a low mobility killer -- it's those killers who usually need the gen slowdown to begin with.

I've been pretty successful with playing the Pig, and Ruin (with Undying protecting it) often DOES do good work. Paired up with her RBT's, it's just enough slowdown to give her time to get enough hooks to win (I just finished a 4K match where everyone was hooked twice before I got a single kill -- they broke Ruin and Undying eventually, but the slowdown when I pressured them off of gens and Ruin regressed them kept the game manageable). My track record with running it has been mixed -- some matches, the totems ARE oppressive due to amazing spawns (almost always on The Game, Lery's, Glenvale, or Midwich) or survivors just not botherinnog with totems to focus on gens, other matches I get a mixed bag where the totems hang around a little while, and other matches they go away almost immediately (I've 4K'ed with the totems destroyed early, and had escapes when the survivors pounded gens and ignored Ruin, so by "mixed", I don't mean success in matches, but in the longevity of Ruin staying alive due to Undying).

The problem with totems continues to be twofold: they're not an "objective" unless it's an actual Hex, so many survivors completely ignore them unless they have no other choice (Undying changed that to some extent, but that's probably going by the boards after the nerf), and locations, even on some redone maps, are still terrible (as the clip above illustrated). Even if I had been playing someone like Hillbilly or Blight, against good survivors (especially if they were a SWF on coms, which this team was not a 4-person, but likely a 2-person with two solos) would still have cleansed the totems early. I could have chased the initial person off, but the other totem that broke would have been gone immediately. The minute I left that first totem to chase someone, eventually the initial survivor or a teammate would have cleansed it instead. If I stay and try to "protect" the totem(s), the survivors will just hammer out gens -- it's a lose/lose when the totems are that exposed in their location. You know you're losing half your build (or 1/4 of if, if you're just running Ruin) sooner rather than later.

You would think there would be a happy medium between "completely in the wide open" and "can't find it no matter how long you search) for totem spawn locations, but the devs haven't figured that out yet, apparently.

Maybe awful is a bit too strong word, but still isnt a very good combination, you depend entirely on RNG with them, someone with high mobility can defend their totems if they get bad spawns but if you dont have mobility you are out of luck, as the video shows, even if they dont spawn near at the start of the match once they know the position they will lurk and go for them, either you commit to defend the totem (and they push gens, bad idea) or you leave and they cleanse it because you cant get back soon enough to defend.

I play Jigsaw and Myers a lot, especially Myers and I think Pop is way way better for them than Ruin because of that, the only problem is you first need a hook but once you start snowballing (Myers with EW3 and Jigsaw with 2 people trapped) you can slow the game a lot as you can get several Pops on a row also is more consistent than totems, it almost always works the same while totems may be good or a disaster like in the video.

  • @ChiSoxFan11 said:

I'll do you one better. BOTH totems AND a generator gone in less than a minute -- and this was with me downing someone in a 23 second chase!

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_HYkuBD7LeQ&ab_channel=GeriatricGaming

That sucks but Undying+Ruin is an awful build for Jigsaw and any low mobility Killer, if he was playing Hillbilly, Blight or other gottagofast Killer he could have saved Undying and then defended Ruin (or not but it would just have jumped to other totem), the gen was indeed lost thats true.

  • Not exactly an exploit but Corn has an uncleansable Totem at one of the harvester spawn points.

  • Not to the Swamp but ive getting Midwich, Haddonfield and Hawkins a lot lately, they suck but at least they are not bugged.

as i said i wasn't disapointed with the amount of bps i got, i was just surprised that i got 4 iri emblems, that's all and it also showed that you can get 4 iri emblems without having a perfect 32K score.

Well thats what I said in my first post, you can get 2 pips as Myers and barely reach 23-25k BPs.

  • @Freki said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1886796#Comment_1886796

you can't "stalk" like you normally would with scratched mirror. normally since mikie is so slow, he can't keep chases so the chaser emblem usually isn't going to be iri. it's not unheard of but normally when you are playing a build for the first time ever like this one, it's hard to get that... and that's what was amazing by it. scoring for what I got was fair and not awful I was pleasantly surprised.

Scratched Mirror gives extra BPs on Brutality and Deviouness so you dont lose BPs from regular Myers builds, 24k is around what you usually get with a Mirror build if you dont prolong the trial artificially and kill all 4 Survivors, which is similar to what Myers gets because how his toolkit works by bypassing a lot of score events, I was clarifying why Myers get less BPs than other Killers idepently of build.

  • @Freki said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1885064#Comment_1885064

oddest thing though.... i did a scratched mirror which rarely gets good chaser points or emblem progress and not only did I 4K but I got about 24K points, AND 4 iri emblems! lol

Its the problem with the scoring system, Myers only gets Devotion by stalking and to get 8k without killing everyone you practically have to drain all 4 Survivors which is very rare, you dont need so many EW3 to finish the trial, also having Exposed as his main ability bypasses 1 hit, earning him half Brutality points (at least this category can be feed by kicking stuff) and his chases are shorter thanks to Exposed and lower Terror Radius so you also get less points from chasing people around (because chases are shorter and start later).

In the end you can get 2 pips because his toolkit is decent for pipping but awful for scoring.

  • Obvious hackers are rare, like super super rare, I think ive met like 5 in ~1200 hours, not so obvious hackers like people who add an extra 5% to their speed, people with wallhacks not abusing it etc... no idea, sometimes I may get suspicious on how fast and easily a Killer finds everyone (with no aura reading perks) or how many extra loops can someone do but as its not super obvious I cant rule them as hackers.

I guess that is true although not very realistic as there are plenty of skirts and dresses in real life that don't have a slit.

True, but they are not used or designed for running, a common trope in spy/survival/action genre is the girl with the long tube skirt slitting it so she can run and kick ass easily in the middle of a party.

  • I suppose is there to make running somewhat beliable, unless its a very broad long skirt or a miniskirt is very hard to run with one because you cant use the whole arch of your legs.

  • Funny because with Myers is the exact opposite, you can 3K or 4K, get double pip and dont even get 24k BPs.

I think a lot of licensed killers could just be Legendary Outfits for other Killers we already have.

Chucky and Tiffany could be a Twins skin.

Jason could be a Trapper skin.

Jack The Ripper could be a Ghostface skin.

The Xenomorph could be a Demogorgon skin.

I am sure there are loads more.

Tony Todd, being such a prolific slasher actor, should be a reskin for most non lincensed male Killers, we should have a Doctor Todd, Trapper Todd, Wraith Todd, Deathslinger Todd and so on.

Elodie simply for her scream. It pierces your soul!

She pierces your ears... I dont know if people who play her are deaf, not aware of the bug or just want to piss the rest of the players.

  • Maybe they could change it to give you Deep Wounds state if you get hit during the Broken timer and deactivating it in the process or something similar.

  • Hag is super strong, one of the strongest Killers in the game but is super boring to play as, Clown is fun and not is as bad as people scream but if you get a bad map with spread generators you can struggle a lot.

Both are very good perk wise, Ruin, Devour Hope, Bamboozle an PGTW are very good perks.

    It won't happen because $$$.

I find it funny that they said on a livestream that they are capable of dealing with game health and bugs while releasing new content just before A Binding of Kin. Very funny.

The worst part is that even before Binding of Kin every major content update always brings either a massive amount of bugs, a gamebreaking bug (basement hooks after Oni update for example) or a poorly designed Killer in dire need of rework.

Twins chapter was so bad it made us forget about the other blunders.

  • They could buff perk numbers every week but they need testing on said perks, first on the internal test builds and then PTB, while is feasible you risk putting something completely broken in the game, especially perks with good synergies. Thats what happened with old We'll make it+Self-care where you could auto heal faster than Killer's cd on M1.

  • Yes, Ive seen people give sacrifices to Killers, even to Killers who didnt deserve anything but tbags at the Exit Gates (tunnelers and campers).

  • Its impossible to not be negative on the last chapter questions.

What are you talking about? I have no idea what you're talking about.

Im just expressing an idea, they did the same with the battlepass and they could be doing the same now with this survey.

  • Well when they released the battlepass related inquiry the rift was announced shorter after it so I guess they already had it planned and made in an internal test build and used the responses to gauge how well was going to be received, Im inclined to believe this may be the same.

  • I think they already did something on internal test builds and the inquiry is just to gauge how well/bad is going to be received and do small tweaks on it, I feel they did the same with the Battlepass inquire before adding the rift.

  • Freddy, Pyramid Head and Spirit, they are usually played by sweatlords with the cheesiest builds and the cheesiest strats aiming for nothing else but the highest amount of stomp with the less amount of effort possible (at least Nurses and Huntresses have to work hard for those stomps).

Maybe but that doesnt change The fact that devs wont do it couse of lazynes

With the sheer amount of bugs and graphical updates in need of work I dont think they wont do it because of lazyness, they really have their plate full with more pressing matters.

The same tired discussion responses are going to be posted, just so you know.

    "but I want blood points"

"They are just being toxic don't let it get to you"

"I don't see what's so toxic about that?"

    "Grow a thicker skin!"

"but I am just being friendly!"

    "Well stop camping/tunelling/etc"

"I am waiting for ___ person"

    "Something about EGC"

"It's a free hit so why are you complaining?"

"is it THAT hard to just make them leave it takes seconds"

    "I am just celebrating"

You get the point. This discussion has been done so many times it never amounts to anything productive I am sorry to say. Someone is going to say something akin to one of those lines, and it's going to change into a discussion about an entirely different topic lol.

EDIT: hey we can play bingo like this....

Of course people are going to post those, a lot of them are actually valid reasons for not exiting right away.

What makes Freddy OP to you?

Is it his slow down blood pools? Why isn't Clown OP?

Is it his map presence? Many killers have this.

Or is it that the fog makes it harder to see?

Its the combination of having all of that.

Freddy's strong kit is not because he has 1 thing, its because he has it all with no drawbacks, he has stealth (one of the bests also) but unlike Wraith he can attack you without bingbonging, he has mobility but unlike Hillbilly or Blight he doesnt get stunned when he uses it or messes it up, Freddy can set his traps without slowing his speed while Clown has to slowdown to reload and has only 4 bottles, etc. Also he has small frame making him harder to see, a build in second objective with the passive sleep, no TR making some perks useless, addon slowdowns, 115% movement speed it has it all and in some aspects even better than other Killers that have nothing else (his traps are better and more reliable than Clowns and his stealth is better than Myers and Jigsaw).

Any other Killer in this game has strengths true, but for every strength they have they have also a drawback, whats Freddy drawback? a short CD on his teleport and a 5€ paywall.

    I love the game.

    Sometimes, I hate the community.

Same here, I love the game but the comunity some times...

  • These 2 werent mine me but I saw someone managing to lure the Killer away to a generator in the middle of nowhere with Red Herring, allowing us to finish ours, breaking a potentially fatal 3gen at Azarovs, and the other day some guy got shack god Pallet up with Any Means Necessary (this was more of a Killer's mistake since he should have broken it but I suppose it can be in this thread).

  • You can do as you please but dont come to the forum with "pesky Survivors and their genrush/DS/tbagging please BHVR NERF KILLER IS MISERABLE!!" threads when you start facing the veterans.

  • I guess is to give a break to people who grinded during the last week of the rift so they dont burn out.

  • Nah the high kill ratio is because he is super strong and braindead easy to play, any noob can stomp Solos with him, people giving up is consequence of his high kill ratio, not the cause (which is how easy and unfair can feel playing against Freddy).

  • You can reach Rank1 as Solo but is harder and requires a lot of stealth, Benevolent and Lightbringer are the easiest Iridiscent emblems you can aim for, guarenting those 2 is not easy but is not impossible, especially if you are not the first one to get spotted by the Killer, then you need "only" 2 Silver on Survival (this one is guaranteed unless you get tunneled/facecamped/left to rot on 1º hook) and Boldness.

  • Nope, we paid for a game and it should work as intended, having a small amount of bugs is understandable but not to the degree we have after every content update and charging for fixing the game is extremely shady, its like selling you a new car with a busted motor and then "ah, you want it running pay me additional money".

I wouldnt mind they implement different ways of monetization IF they are not P2W, like the cosmetic battlepass, new high quality cosmetics or licensed skins etc, as long as its not P2W I wouldnt care, I also wouldnt care they dont push out new Killers or Survivors for some time.

  • Nah, even if they were to balance him and make ite viable in terms of kill ratio it would make him too clunky and too much of a chore to play, thats one of the reasons they changed how Doctor blast works.

  • The punishment is there, just push gens, from first hook to death is 120 seconds, if someone gets facecamped and the other 3 keep working you can finish at least 3 gens and get some work on at least 1 or 2, even more if the gens were already at a decent progression %.

The problem as always is Solo queue since they cant comunicate the team cant punish the Killer for it, its not that there is no punishment for facecamping is that the most affected by it (Solo queuers) cant dish it out because they lack information.

  • And then theyll teabag and exit before you get a hit and it changes absolutely nothing so people will come to the forum with some whacky idea to avoid that like "they cant leave if I pass through the door" and then theyll tbag at the doors and leave before you cross the gates, then new thread with a more bizarre idea etc...

Just go there, whack them, if they exit they exit, if they were far away and you pick them you pick them.

  • Autodidact, is not super great but is the best counter there is to slowdown heal builds and heavy slugging, even on regular plays I usually get decent use of it.

I remember once I played against a random streamer using Sloppy Butcher+old Tanathophobia with a lot of emphasis on slugging, after we finished the match and saw his name I went to check the stream and watch the replay, the guy was ranting on "How fast the Survivors are healing, come on this is obvious cheats, we did a pretty good job so far BHVR broken game full of hackers, LOOK LOOK, THAT ONE GOT UP IN SECONDS!! AND NOW IS FULL HEALED!! PFFFF blahblahblah", he didnt figure Autodidact was in full force, not even when he saw our perks in post game chat.

  • I do what I always do, go patrol gens, why whould I waste precious time near a hook when Survivors may have used lockers and exited them only to go to their respective gens?.

  • Play the other role if you are just maining one and if you are already playing both roles and yet you find no excitement on playing just take a bigger break or quit alltogether, its not healthy to play something that bores you.

I loved TF2 back in the days, like REALLY LOVED that game but the changes they made changed it and became dull for me so I quitted, I enjoyed all the hours I poured into that game and the memories I treasure so Im glad I didnt tarnish them by keep playing to the point of hating it.

  • Actually, they will make The Game harder for Myers XD.

    • Removed walls from the top floor middle section of the Gideon Meat Plant to increase visibility in the map.

I get that but like comparing the last couple of killers to let’s say Oni, pretty big difference with presentation and stuff.

Is very hard to hype a midchapter which consists in some graphical updates, animation updates, perk tweaks and bug fixes. I dont know how can they make it sound awesome and rile people expectations up. Saying "this new animations are superdope you are going to love them!!" or "new The Game map is so crazy guys, its gonna be great, brace yourselves!!" wont entice people as much as showing a new Killer with powers and perks.

Also the last chapters have been a bit of a massive dissapointement with the sheer amount of bugs and unplayability they introduced so I believe a lot of people are more afraid of the patch than expectating, Im one of the afraid group, lets see how many new bugs they introduce this time though the fact it has no new Killer gives me some hope of a stable and somewhat enjoyable patch release.

  • They hype when there are new Killer and Survivor because there are sales associated with them, when its an upgrade to the game with nothing to sell they dont usually make a big fuss about it.

  • 99'99% chance of being super buggy, with a 0'01% mistake margin.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Hope they get rid of the safe pallets there and add actual loops. Pretty frustrating chasing a survivor there knowing he can waste 1+ minutes just throwing down god pallets.

But then they have to give something else because The Game has nothing at all except from those 3/4 god pallets, its already like the second map with the highest kill rate if you remove them it will be unplayable as Survivor.

As i said, those people will be toxic no matter what is added to the game. And what games are you referring to?

You can't just mention other games and not say what they are. While pretending just saying that is evidence enough.

Read the post I did mention 2 games, Street Fighter 4 where people would yank the router to avoid playing against people with higher MMRs and WoW Mytic+ dungeons where you can check a webpage that colects data and assigns points to your performance without taking account stuff like who you were paired with in the dungeons so having a lower score impairs significantly your odds of being invited to a party, people are already complaining about this on some WoW forums (in the new expansion, they complained about it in the other xpacs that have the system). Ill add one more to the mix Dragon Ball Fighter Z people not accepting games of higher MMR ranked players. I played those 3 games and faced those 3 problems and believe me it was AWFUL.

And yes, that huge chunk of toxic players will be toxic no matter what but why give them more tools and more info? you can reach a point where your MMR will make the rest of the Survivors quit your lobby just because your number is not palatable to them and get your lobby filled with lesser MMRs then you will be the one quitting because "I dont wanna play with noobs".

Heck it already happened when Rank was visible, people quitted lobbies if they didnt like the others ranks...

  • @chieften333 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1864117#Comment_1864117

That's an issue with the players, not the system itself. DBD already has a toxic community, and they'll be toxic no matter what is added to the game.

Why should a ( hopefully ) good system be held back just because a select few players will be [BAD WORD] about it?

Problem is its not going to be a few select players, its going to be a huge chunk of them as other games have shown.

When the issue is the players you have to either get rid of what causes the issue or at least dont give them tools to behave like that, I remember SF4 online where people would turn off the router to avoid playing against players with higher MMRs or WoW elitism in M+, there are plenty of examples where tools and information were abused by a lot of people to be extremely toxic to each other.

Its sad but sometimes people need to be protected from their worse instincts.

@TicTac They could only show your own rank and it would be a good compromise.

I agree, that would be harmless comunity wise but my guess is they dont want people devising how it works and how to trick it so hidding it may slow them in getting how it works (I doubt it will slow them much anyway).

Myself I would make your own MMR viewable but it will only upgrade after X time, like you play for a week and every Monday you see your MMR change to avoid tampering (internally it will change after every game but you would only see the numbers change on Monday).

Only like 5 out of 22 killers have mobility. What about the rest?

Its 8 (Hillbilly, Nurse, Freddy, Spirit, Blight, Legion, Demogorgon and Oni) and its easier to nerf Undying than nerf 8 Killers which some would require entire reworks since mobility is the only thing they have going for them.

In any case, this is a thread about BT and its supposed meaning and use not another "DEVS NERFED UNDYING BIAS BIAS!" so we shouldnt derail it with pointless whatabouthism and role wars, you have already plenty of those to give your opinion.
