  • This is a fine change, I suppose, it disencourages camping (good for all sides, in terms of fun), it helps solo q, as solo q teammates often have the mentality of "I'm sure someone else will get it", so I get to stare at 3 teammates doing gens while i die, only for them to save me when im hitting stage 2, which is incredibly unfun.

But I can see it being annoying in comp circles and, to a degree, sweaty matches, it messes up a lot of the killers pressure, as a hook is now so much less important or scary, if anything, nerfing hooking might make slugging more valuable and be used more, but hopefully not.

It will help solo q (good), stop camping being so bad (good), encourage chases and ending chases quickly in order to have more pressure (good but also double edged, might make tunnelling and slugging more encouraged) and gives sweat squads and comp teams more time to levy saves (definitely fun for survivors, altruistic plays are the most fun things imo for surv, but could lead to seeming unfair situations for killer where survivors can seemingly mess around and play carelessly, take hits and reset many times, and still be able to pull off a save in the endgame).

Overall, it's positive, and I cannot see it being an awful change, or some life saving messiah as some might say, and the negative I mention is more of a nit pick and will likely not affect you unless you happen to have 10,000 hours, a phobia of grass and an interest in competitive dbd.

I agree, it's exhausting but unfortunately, I see it in all of the pvp games that I play. I feel like this is pretty much just how the world is now (as pessimistic as that seems) and I see so many people that don't take other players into consideration when they make their comments. I've also seen posts where the discussion starts on one topic and then gets dragged into another topic entirely.

As for myself, I often come on here after a series of frustrating matches and try to see if anyone else is having the same problem and I will admit that that often skews my view on things. Lately, though, I've seen an increase in the toxicity bleeding into the in-game chat as well. I think I've been told to off myself 3 times in the last week for doing things that are fairly normal in games like trying to block LOS on a huntress in chase and trying to take hits for a survivor that's obviously being tunnled.

I don't use social media (other than snap, but that's just a messaging platform, not exactly social media imo) so I wouldn't know the general internet state rn or other game's state, but historically this community has always been particularly bad imo.

Just sick of people coming from biased sides, not realising, the SBMM basically makes the objective of the game to win or survive by any means, so the fact tunneling, the same 4 perks, camping, blight, sabo/wiggle builds (which all are common causes for frustration for the other side) is essentially (though hopefully not intentionally) BHVR's fault.

Boring metas can only be solved by the devs or by gentlemen's agreements in private dbd playing communities like the comp community, but unfortunately BHVR doesn't do anything, and you'd be lucky to be part of a bigger sized community of KYF players in this game, given how small comp is.

  • Horror shouldn't be conjured by making an intolerant and frustrated community, that's how you make a horrible game, not a horror one.

Actually, this forum is the more civil parts of the online DBD comunity ^_- Reddit is basically fully survivor sided, and the Steam Forums is an utter cesspit of toxicity.

There's definitely more than a couple of these people here from a glance, but I'm glad to hear it, first post here (atleast since I logged back into this account in years, currently fearing what horrible take past me decided to run my mouth on), I was sick of reddit and everywhere else tbh.

EDIT: Yup just looked back at my old discussions, wouldn't recommend it, and I was definitely quite a bit like I was describing on this post.

  • @JPLongstreet said:

I do wish there weren't "mains" of either role, those who only play one side pretty much exclusively. If all players played both roles to at least a competent level, not only would they find themselves better at their preferred side, but also understanding, compassion, and empathy for everyone would increase as a result.

Ironically, in my just under 900 hours, I've only ever reached like rank 12 in survivor, whatever that would translate too today (Gold IV or Silver I, I think) and find myself rarely playing survivor, except when I'm bored, doing solo q chest roulette runs (Ace in the hole, appraisal, plunderers and the new perk specialist).

But I just thought about it and watched videos of people ranting and what not and came to the conclusion that it's just childish bickering and I've seen people from both sides be completely unreasonable, I would much rather a community that can speak without insults or thinking they're better/more important than one another.

  • That is optimistic, but I am weary as others have mentioned about trolls and the like, some people just like stirring the pot, I also particularly think that passion doesn't need to be expressed by people in the way it often is, with endless whataboutism, people saying "Are you dense?" if you say something they don't think is quite right.

Perhaps it's idealism, but I'd much rather a community of people who don't feel the need to be so childish and rude at times to express their views.

It sure is a passionate community, and that's amazing, but the passion hardly ever goes to thanking the developers who have actually managed to do some rather good things despite people seeming to think they're useless or lazy.

Today we got 8.1.1, fixing the gen bug and the endurance bug (not receiving endurance on unhook) and I saw someone on twitter reacting to the announcement by saying "if it were survivors getting endurance when they weren't supposed to instead, it'd be fixed in heartbeat" or similar.

For a patch that came in 8 days, some people seemed to only think that BHVR was some sort of biased and malevolent company, for fixing a bug for them?

Anyway, you have raised a good point though I am more sceptical than you, and I appreciate you for trying to raise the mood of the situation! :)

  • I have many times wondered exactly how many people are in it for reals and how many actually believe in the things they say, go to any reddit post with the flair "discussion" if you dare, you'll find most of the people there who are saying the stupidest ideas and complaining the most just have a default reddit name (two random words followed by a string of numbers).

Atleast here you need an email (which could be faked easily) but with reddit, you just register with a username and password and need no further verification.

  • The sad part is, they had a PTB (the one with the finisher mori where the game auto ended with 4 downs, the same PTB as the one with basekit unbreakable) that completely addressed these issues AGES ago, but just the way it was implemented didn't sit right with some people (complaints about motion sickness with fov changes for killer, killers complaining about how strong basekit UB was given it had no limits on uses, and probably a lot more) so BHVR just boxed these amazing ideas up, that only needed a couple changes to give a second, slightly better tuned attempt (slightly longer before you could pick up yourself alone, no FOV changes, a few other changes I will have missed), and never tried them again.

  • Exactly, when I saw the hotfix twitter announcement, the endurance bug fix specifically, I saw atleast 2 people say "If it was surivors getting endurance when they weren't supposed to, instead of the other way around, it'd be fixed immediately".

Which first of all, you're complaining that BHVR fixed a bug within 8 days of release? Kind of ungrateful, but also it's just not true, there was a bug with OTR where you could get endurance twice and I'm not sure how long it took to fix but I doubt it was less than 8 days.

The sad part is, it doesn't even matter that they were wrong, it's just slimy ungratefulness born out of some idea that BHVR and the dbd community is out to get them, I'm sure you can find examples of killers doing similarly if you care to look.

You’re probably not going to like this comment, but I’ve been on these forums for about two years now and it’s always been pretty consistently killer sided which I think is what can cause a bit of animosity on sides sadly.

You can say I’m feeding into the ‘us vs them ‘ mentality if you want, that’s fine, but it’s just an observation.

I mean it doesn't really have a side IMO, each post has people from both extremes if it's a hot issue, both sides make horrendous balance suggestions based on the animosity they hold for the other side.

Maybe killers are more vocal here, I wouldn't know, I was talking more generally about forums, reddit, even end game chats has people who'll go absolutely on one about something, but I would say for it to truly stop being such both sides need to have their vocal minorities calmed down.

  • @HexHuntressThighs said:

I would argue Jailer is the best because he can keep a survivor of gens for almost 30 seconds. And if you chase someone else than half the team isn’t sitting on gens. I win a lot of my games by using jailer to just pressure survivors cross map.

Unfortunately that means you also… don't have a power for 30 seconds? which is terrible, unengaging for the knight and the hunted surv, I did my adept knight post changes and I mostly used assassin to keep gens off (and rarely carnifex to shred through pallets into a chase), simply because I could get free hits, though I admit I'll have to try the jailer sometime as I've overlooked him.

This essentially makes your power, to waste the survivors time for 24 seconds, every 34 seconds, with the potential for the survs to make the 24 seconds like 12, with the banner.

Boring and lazy design imo, the 3 knight system, where each night can be used seperately with their own CD sounds so cool and I'm sad I didn't get to try it in the PTB, finally I wouldn't have to choose between having a chase power and a stall power lmao.

  • @Laluzi said:

I think they said they considered this when creating Alien, but their concern was that the power would be highly inconsistent across maps - it'd do next to nothing in Rotten Fields while having tons of utility on indoor maps, and so on.

I was dissapointed with the alien, this would've been really cool, the alien canonically is a smart conniving creature that outsmarts its prey before ripping them apart, but now even some hurdur bozo like the clown is a more conniving and skilful killer than this extra-terrestrial supposed smart killer.

I do imagine that alien would be a technical nightmare to code this way though, and seeing a killer that gets its power from being around walls and rooves would somehow make RPD less fun.

I atleast wanted vents that the survivors could use for an alternate way to traverse quickly, at the expense of risk, alien isolation style, maybe with even special loops and an alternate area unique to alien, like the unique arenas you could enter through a rift "storm" (forgot the name).

But anyway I'll stop wishing for things that we'll probably never get lmao.

  • It should be added back, but I don't think it should work against hag, and it should possibly be added as a counter to the higher tier killers, rather than generally weak killers like wraith.

I'm happy for wraith's to stay tho, given lightburning a wraith who has achieved sentience and the ability to press his strafe keys is a 1 in 1000 situation.

Maybe lightburning could be added to the blight in some form?

When blight is either rushing or in a bump state, if he has a light shined at him (or flashbanged within maybe 4 or 5 meters regardless of if its a blind) for 2 (really just a random number, hard to choose a number that is fair for both sides) seconds, he's burned and goes on a 2.5 second cooldown.

After .75 seconds of not having a light shined at him, the 2 second timer resets (or starts draining rapidly).

This sounds nice, it makes flashbangs a 1 time use skill based way to guarantee atleast a little extra time against blight and allows flashlights to be used as a repellent against blight taking straight forward and easy to track movement, while not making him vulnerable to just shining it at him while he runs to guarantee his power is useless.

Exciting news! The current PTB allows for custom icons in game.

For those unaware the latest update disabled custom icons from appearing in-game, where they had the most impact.

But in the current PTB it seems you are able to use custom icons again! This are fantastic news for all custom icon users and creators, and as the creator of Perkbydaylight I couldn't be happier!

For everyone that helped showing their support for this part of the community I want to say thank you! If you didn't voice your support we might have not get custom icons back

As always remember that using custom icons is something you should do at your own risk, as there is always a risk that you can get banned for using them and neither Easy anti-cheat or behavior will unban your account.

On the 7th day, god gave us his final gift: Custom icons.

Incorrect; you do not pass go, and do not collect $200.00. Your entire premise is wrong because you are working under the assumption that you CANNOT do anything for (60) seconds or DS turns off. That is because you are STILL trying to operate under the framework of using DS aggressively. As soon as you are SAFE, feel free to get on anything you want. Consider the following:

    1. Killer does not follow you. It does get wasted. You can get on anything you want.
    2. Killer does tunnel you immediately; you use DS and get a 2nd chance.
    3. You move off and squat like a toad wanting to save that DS for some reason.

Two out of three of these options are fine for you as a Survivor. Only ONE of them works in favor of the Killer (most of the time). Look if you want to squat like a toad, more power to you, but you don't HAVE to do anything. The only reason to do it is because you are hoping to stun that Killer. That is your choice. But if the Killer does NOT immediately tunnel you, the DS isn't going to be wasted anyway.

    ^ this,

people are stuck in to being entitled to use DS by literally any means necessary, it's as if it's there precious first born or some #########, they are determined to have it and keep no matter what and if I have to be a garbage teammate to use ds then it's the games fault for not allowing me to abuse the long timer when not being tunneled.

Also slugging is only a legit strat when the killer actually has a reason to do it, not whenever so stop acting like slugging is always a loss for DS, because you still save a hook state and you still have a 59 sec DS possibility, which literally wins you the game almost 100% of the time - not to mention tunneling is also throwing but ok.

Please don't body block the hatch from a survivor who wants to escape, that's not fair.

The whole idea of the key is to escape early or late with it, people have to lose with dignity. otherwise where is the fun here?

If I'm the last survivor alive and have the key, I would rather have the killer chase me instead of body block the hatch from me to get another kill.

It's ruining my gaming experience in every way and if I play as a killer, I will not prevent the survivor from using the key in a fair way.

Keys ruin fun all the ######### time and are equally not fair, so no, I'll happily let the entity suck your soul, #########, if you're on the ground you can't key. so I'll let you bleed out.

Under the asumption this is not a troll, play killer for like 500 hours at high purple or red ranks.

The whole idea of a key is also game shattering in every way.

What you would rather have as a survivor is supposed to opposing to the killer so yes you're probably right.

You can't use a key in a fair way. it's intended and only uses (2) are both literally game shattering. either you completely cheat an escape or you get to see the killers aura for free any time you want and it's basically impossible to completely burn a key when you use it conservatively and with a few brain cells it's 45 seconds for ######### sake.

Sorry but keys are completely ######### and if there is anything I can do to ruin a key users day, I will take it in a heartbeat.

And the killer failed to make sure no survivor could deliverance at the end.

Or, you couldn't down that one who managed to deliverance out.

Hook everyone at least once before the end of the game, and this wont be an issue.

They definitely deserve it if they managed to stay alive the whole time.

what you're saying is you want me to camp? You want me to sit there and make sure every survivor goes in for at least a trade and then personally guarantee, that a niche perk only used in certain scenarios is unable to be used.

Also the end game is the end GAME it's not the time where if you die it's all right because it's still the GAME, if you die at any point in the game, you get punished, that should be the same with the end game. you shouldn't get 15 seconds of bt, a free health state, a 5 second stun and a 20 second head start. you can be 140-150 meters away from an exit gate and still get out by holding W, without accounting any exhaustion perks, hits taken by team mates, insta heals, inefficient pathing, and not even accounting a single pallet or ######### window not even the ######### speed boost you get from being hit.

All I have to do to get a free 150 meters to an exit gate is: ######### die, have a team mate hold m1, hold W, get hit, get hit again, get picked up, press space, Hold W, win DBD.

Also, on the hook everybody, what am I supposed to do when there's a dickhead adam, running round jerking himself in lockers whenever I'm within 100Mtrs of me? That's a totally viable strategy and wil loften get him free hatch or gate escapes, so why search every locker in my vacinity and lose the game, to spite him?

  • @ill_Boston_lli said:

I see you say that the escape rate is low. But just yesterday alone 9/10 match a key was the reason for any escapes in the match. Please tell me how your data claims the escape rate is so low???? How is it fair that a killer plays super well and the survivors make mistake after mistake but are still able to escape with with a key. This is something from the Devs that do not believe.

because this type of data is called Big Data(definition: Big data is a term that describes the large volume of data – both structured and unstructured – that inundates a business on a day-to-day basis. But it's not the amount of data that's important. It's what organizations do with the data that matters.)

and while it may be useful in certain uses, they ignore anecdotal data or how it feels to play against.

Big data says 75/100 times a key is used it is never used to unlock hatch, so they don't think it's a problem, yet they ignore the fact that in those 25 times the survivor team get 1-4 free escapes.

This statement is mainly made off of something almo said regarding big data, I don't hate almo, just the stupid things he says sometimes.

Thankfully, thye have said they're working on a fix for keys, so hopefully they'll be out in 2021 but let's face it, 2023 would be like praying to a witch god that you became god, so don't hold your breath unless you like suffocating yourself.

Actually, yes it is. It’s exactly the reason why there are next to no loops within the cornfields of Rotten Fields, and around the perimeter instead.

Poor map design (imo and probably others too) doesn't justify the ability to become near invisble in the right clothing, tbh, it doesn't work most of the time, in chase, but out of chase as soon as you get to a wokred on gen you have to squint at your screen and say "is that a claudette the ground or a corn stalk?"

Also just saying, rotten fields is pretty much just shelter woods, larger, with gens 2000 miles away from eachother, literal 1000s of corn stalks cow tree, old shack and a ######### ton of PGs and JGs around the edges. Now ofc shelter woods isn't balanced and is acc pretty good for GF and michael but rotten feilds is like the exact opposite. In fact, I'd rather get Abbatoir, better spawns, less corn and smaller. Rotten Fields is generally pain and encourages unfun playstyles (immersion is imo just denying both you and the killer the chase which is the best part of the game and where you actually get the feel of horror and being chased)

  • @darktrix said:

Cause I believe it was a quick way to just find hiding survivors...just spam you power and there they are. Since corn maps have a lot of corn, it would get stupid easy to stalk on those maps.

    @TheClownIsKing said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1923697#Comment_1923697

That’s a good point. It would be impossible for survivors to hide at all on Rotten Fields if GF & Myers power worked that way.

In all fairness, I don't think holding control in an open corn field should be "hiding", so I respectfully disagree.

You had to have never hook that one with deliverance btw, again, they deserve that save and escape.

They don't deserve that escape, they ######### died and now used such skill as holding m1 to instantly revive themselves and render themselves invunerable for a minute.

I understand, they want to get more feedback from console players, but I just imagine there will be a ton of criticism from console players about the new UI too. I'm hoping that they finally realise how many people dislike it including those console players and then revert it with the next chapter release. Even a lot of Fog Whisperers disliked it too.

    @Monarch

Then you obviously didn't understand the point of the thread.

DS counters Tunneling (or it's suppose to) It doesn't. Even the old dare I say busted DS doesn't do that. It merely delays the tunnel. So I explain my points about how they are adding even more conditions to a perk that didn't do it's job in the first place and you call it whataboutism. Fine, I'll give you that.

It still doesn't negate the relevancy it has because abusive camping resulted in more players feeling inclined to bring those perks.

    "Also bruh, just in general."

    Yeah. Ok.

I don't understand what the massive deal is with the concept of "If you progress the game, you're not being tunneled" is.

Also, I don't think I can explain within a reasonable word count how much a DS actually does, how 1 second of difference splits a 0k form a 3k.

What do you want the effect to be, if you hit DS, you win DBD?

It still does it's job atleast extending the time needed to kill a tunneled survivor by a significant proportion, why do you feel entitled to 60 seconds of uncountable and unmitigated invincibility?

I think you should withhold with major accusations and demands until everyone's tested it. but this is just from my observable info.

This is why I've commented on what you said until I posted this comment. Not the actual perk changes. but just to be safe, those all are to be taken with a grain of salt, fortunately there's enough salt on this forum to supply everyone in Minnesota with all the salt they need.

    "Yeah. Ok."

    Aight. Cool.

  • Welp, unfortunately, it seems you are just an innocent protester in noman's land cuz I think survs are about to start a revolt.

  • @Shirokinukatsukami said:

    Funny thing about this game.

Historically, the more killers get the nerfs they want, the less killers proportionally play the game.

This game used to be a lot tougher for killers, but back then there were too many killers and not enough survivors. Killers got all the nerfs they wanted. Brighter maps, brighter clothes, removal of palette vacuums, bloodlust, removal of most god loops, auto window blocking, Exhaustion nerf, Mettle nerf, BL nerf, DS nerf, another DS nerf, etc.

Yet somehow instead of improving the play experience for killers it actually made it worse.

Who knows why, but judging from the queues there are less and less killers playing the game compared to survivors.

So strictly speaking killers getting the nerfs they want might not actually be the right direction for this game.

Ok, you don't like this, so instead of making your experience more enjoyable and liek any other game company change it and make it a more fun experience, we're going to keep all of the things you dislike in the game because of ~STATISTICS~.

This is why people don't like almo, he says all this ######### about, THE STATS, so much so you think he'd ######### sacrifice a goat to them every night before he goes to bed.

Your argument is just completely ######### perplexing in all the wrong ways.

Also, I don't advocate hat against almo, I think he makes some silly decisions and I generally dislike his arguments but he can do whatever as long as he doesn't make the game unplayable or a negative experience.

  • @Johnny_XMan said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1920912#Comment_1920912

    @Monarch

It is not the key/mori argument again, actually what you are doing, IS. Nobody had even talked about keys and moris until you said something. See Tunneling and DS go hand to hand because they are related to each other. One soft counters the other. Keys and Moris aren't related to each other at all. Plus this isn't the conversation for that.

Bringing up a discussion, is part of showing relevancy and acknowledgement that a problem exists. The discussion isn't about DS and it's changes, it is about Camping and Tunneling remaining the same in their boderline abusive forms. DS comes into the picture, because they have literally nit-picked random rare situations in which DS is no longer becomes an anti-tunnel perk. Yet, the choice to Tunnel a survivor out is still there with no downside... all this when the devs claim they want the choice to be a balanced threat. It currently isn't.

You literally said they nerfed DS but whatabout this, how is that not whataboutism.

Also a comparison does not mean I'm bring keys into this argument I'm saying what you're doing is this that killers were doing in the mori nerf and just in general.

    Also bruh, just in general.

  • @Danielgdp3 said:

I agree DS needed changing as it was easy to abuse in it's current state, however I do see some potential issues with the new way it will be implemented. In my eyes it seems that the new version of DS would only be able to be used if the killer tunnels instantly from being unhooked (so pretty much they were camping), but that's not the case nowadays killers proximity camp so you may get unhooked run a few seconds then begin healing and all of a sudden you hear the heartbeat and now your in a chase again but have no defense to the tunnel.

I have two thoughts on the proposed changes that I think would still be a nerf to DS but still make it worth using as a survivor.

    1. Keep what they've proposed however make it so DS deactivates when you are fully healed not once you begin healing.

    2. Make it that DS deactivates when you do one of these activities when in the killers radius

If anyone wants to discuss their thoughts on the matter lemme know.

So basically you don't want the perk to change at all, 59 sec DS still a thing, actual anti tunnel still a thing, being invincible for a minute while progressing the game, worse, but still a thing.

  • "When I first heard of the news yesterday and read a picture of the perk description, I immediately thought it was a prank because it was clearly written by a killer main."

Let me objectively correct this statement for you:

    @DBD78

We all know it's not but it doesn't stop killers from abusing it. So since they changed DS because of it's 'abuse-able' feature, I am bringing up the very thing DS is countering that is also abusable.

This is the key mori argument all over again,if all you want is something to be changed cuz something else was, then why don't you fight for what you want instead of complaining about this change. Is there any reason other than you don't want DS to be changed cuz you didn't see a problem with it, or are you literally whataboutism-ing everyone on a change you don't care about? You've confused me.

I only ask seeing as Decisive Strike is receiving a pretty hefty nerf. While countering two of the most abusive strats/tactics/mechanics (whatever you want to call it) in the game.

I find it very interesting that the developers took issue with Pyramid Head's cages, and nerfing those to the point the killer cannot remain in vicinity of the cage, or else the cage gets sent to a different location.... and yet hook camping is somehow... fine?

Oh right, I know what you're thinking.... "but there are perks that can help against hook camping!" ... You mean the very same meta perks survivors are forced to bring in order to have a decent chance at not playing sacrificial survivor for the entirety of a match? or maybe it's the same meta perks players keep complaining about that remain as "meta" before quickly asking themselves why that is... Huh funny how that works.

Look, I know these small incidental 'tactics' people complained about were not the best part of DS, but can we also acknowledge how Camping and Tunneling should be addressed in the same fashion? They are not always used to pull some type of 'strategic' maneuver, they are often abused and/or solely used for Griefing purposes.

I have played around 5k hours with both survivor and killer at rank 1, and no I am not sharing my credentials as "proof" that I am right, but that I have been subject to these type of tactics (DS/Camping/Tunneling).

Again, if you truly care about the "health" and "balance" of the game... then you will hopefully also see the other side.

"*I only seeing as DS is getting a hefty nerf*"

I need you to explain to me what you mean, in what sense would it no longer counter tunneling ESPECIALLY hook face camping as you said

...and yet hook camping is somehow... fine?

this is because DS still works here, if it were a cage, no DS, yes to tunneling.

Hook camping is not going to be like 0 DS infact it will remain the exact same for it's anti tunneling purpose.

This will only stop abuse of DS' invincibility for example (not every match but enough to see a pattern) you will have a survivor get unhooked in your face, tbag you, and then go work on gens, take the BT hit and waste your time, or give a free 60+ seconds of gen progress.

If you do not see it for the clear abuse of DS then I cannot help you with that but it is and it is extremely unfair.

I think this is a very ironic statement, not that I'm pisstaking you but you talk about "also seeing it from the other side" when this is applicable to both sides and it's not like only we complain about ds or anything like that, there have been countless threads recently, arguing that BBQ is OP and needs a nerf and there is pretty much a complaint placed on every killer perk that could have a semblance of annoyance to any survivor ever, while this is extreme hyperbole so is saying without meta perks is self sacrificial because it's just not.

Also they're meta in SWF because of completely different reasons to solo Q, overlapping only with perhaps anti tunneling or camping.

Look, I know these small incidental 'tactics' people complained about were not the best part of DS,

I'm gonna withhold comment on this, please explain what you mean, are you talking about the aforementioned, tbag into gen repair invincibility, it's infact, not only a tactic, But the best in the game. Else then I need clarification, please.

but can we also acknowledge how Camping and Tunneling should be addressed in the same fashion? They are not always used to pull some type of 'strategic' maneuver, they are often abused and/or solely used for Griefing purposes.

I do find it unfortunate and somewhat of a statement that right now, camping and tunneling is a very very very viable strategy, it is sometimes required and a tournament straight up meta.

But in the same way can you see that if someone wants to play to a high level, like top tournament levels, that trying to win is not toxic?

For example, do you think supaalf, hexy or any other tournament player is a complete ######### toxic ######### that you'd bad mouth you do any other pub killer?

    Are they griefing?

Imagine any other game, CoD for example, tourney players are seen similarly to dbd tournament players, often respected and looked up to, and pub stompers are seen as very good and great players.

In dbd they're instead ######### who abuse this and this and this, tunneled and are promptly reported to their stepdad McCote directly and then they have a restraining order on the entire McCote lineage.

Tunneling is not oftenly used to be an ######### soley, it is a rare ass occurrence that I choose to spite someone for absolutely no reason, because doing so is a detrimental decision which will lose me a game for a chance at a kill.

Ok, but why are health and balance in quotes? this isn't me challenging your points, I just want you to explain why you put them in quotes.

600ish hours if you want to know, but it's not that relevant, other than to show that I've experienced what I say.

So you acknowledge that the perk is broken in its current state, and choose to abuse it anyways? Nice mentality huh. I hope you don't complain when killers either facecamp you or tunnel you out of the game 🧐

I'm debating coming back to the game just to see how many OOO heathens I can cleanse, my steam comments are thirsty for more salty survs, either that or I avoid it like the black death until changed.

I think it's kind of mean to talk about when the game's going to die on its own forum. I'll just say I'm concerned about the future unless they drastically expand the number of people working on it.

Where tf am I supposed to talk about it? you want me to run and EG chat poll?

Also I respect BHVR while I disagree with some of their choices, I just genuinely wanted peoples thoughts because I've never really heard anyone talk about it.

Rank 1 both sides but I'm a solo survivor main, 70/30, 1K hours so I'm far from the best:/

    Every achievement

    Every Archive challenge done

    Still trying to P3 everyone.

The reason DBD Isnt boring to me yet is because I'm constantly challengeing myself to try new things on both sides. Whever it's a variety of builds, winning without a mechanic(no vaulting/No power) or even setting a unique goal for each match such as a perk roulette. And I can't escape until I've used every perk once.

One other reason, games others consider very repetitive and Dull I wound up going on to have thousands of hours in.

So at least to me DBD is still kicking, but if they keep refusing to listen to they're player base even the die hard supporters are going to leave. I hate seeing this game squander it's potential

I think one of the reasons that this game isn't dead is the achievable content, the grind (while painful and monotonous) is actually very rewarding,

I remember having fun with my newely prestiged trapper and I just felt this sense of not having everything and instead I had a challenge.

I could never do all archives lol, 571 hrs and like I still just rush the pages on killer bc I'm better as them and then just start working backwards for surv. Some of the garbage like do 60 stuns with pallets makes me wanna go to sleep and not wake up ever again.

What's keeping me into DBD is learning, I love playing nurse RN bc I'm garbage, no joke, it makes me feel so happy when I actually get a few kills and I feel like I'm learning.

In conclusion, I wish this game had like more achievements or like passive in game challenges like a challenge journal (that aren't super grindy instead it's just like encouraging people to play with all of there characters for example if you have a character you have a challenge like play 3 games with their 3 unique perks so you have an incentive to try everyone) written by some body from the lost tapes with just a bunch of challenges with BP rewards or hell even IShards.

(And give me something to do with BP pls after P3'ing everyone)

Based on the figures from Steam Charts, the game has never fared as well as it did in 2020. It is difficult to predict a death from gambling in the years to come. At least, as long as there are no viable competitors.

It's fair to exclude steam charts data imo quarantine just gave way to so much more gaming time.

I've been playing since 2016, i have a bit over 2k hours. As you can see, i don't play that much as others around here who get to 2k hours in less than a year, but i know everything about DbD.

I'm not a red rank killer or survivor since i'm playing like 1-10 games a week, but i know my stuff.

DbD is still young, the devs are still "young" at being devs for this game. They can make this game a really wonderful one, but they don't seem like trying to do it now. I know they are working hard, making a new killer and a new survivor with unique perks every 3 months is a big deal, reworking maps and so on, but it feels like they aren't trying that hard on making DbD a healthier gaming experience. Don't get me wrong, i respect every single person from DbD's team, but they are making some questionable decisions here and there.

I would say DbD is just starting to get better and better, but it will take some time with it's manegement right now. There's still no real competition, so the team is pretty laid back right now, but i'm sure that is going to change sooner or later.

In my opinion, they should listen more to the community and fog whisperers, i'm 100% sure that we know more about game balance and what's healthier for this game than them. We are the ones with thousands and thousands of hours after all.

(If there are any grammatical mistakes, i'm really sorry. It's pretty late right now, but i really wanted to say this.)

I am blessed by your wisdom and this brings up a valid point of how negative the community is, I started playing right after the hex ruin nerf and it's kind of strange how something so ancient feeling to me was actually still in the game not a month before I started playing.

I think that you are very right. We should thank the devs for what we have and hope that they can get it to an even better state as they have done before.

    • There is practically an unlimited amount of horror movie franchises that exist, the odds of never finding one would be pretty slim
    • They have sustained the same gameplay loop for... 3 or 4 years now? No need to fix what isn't broken, and the playerbase has consistently risen, with higher peaks being iconic releases like Silent Hill and Stranger things.
    • There's already accessibility features planned and on the way, and the game's learning curve specifically works that people learn not to hide so much. They start to realize that they escape more often when they do more work, and excel with that knowledge.
    • On this point I can agree, but I feel like in the future the amount of dev/player interaction will only decrease which is a worry I have. Any changes made, ideas suggested, thoughts shared lead to massive amounts of people attacking the devs. Regular threads requesting for people to be fired because some don't like their ideas, I feel this behavior (from the community moreso) will result in fewer interactions.

-- Yes, but how many things (like stranger things) are gonna actually bring a playerbase uproar and aren't gonna be a "ohhh theres that one character from that standalone movie I watched like 2 months ago" sure, they'll bring in new players but only people who both watched it and are interested in dbd's style.

-- Good point, but there have been complaints of repetitiveness

-- but it's not only that they're not here now, it's that they weren't here for 4 years and that's for one of a good handfull of accessability features that's near standard if not set stone standard in every game.

  • @Orionbash said:

The fact that BHVR has expressed interest in a proper tournament mode means they have enough interest to warrant that investment. This means DbD's players will skyrocket as it becomes more competitive. DbD isn't going anywhere, despite what salty killer mains think.

    Skyrocket? No.

    Raise? Yes.

I think if anything additional content like this will only retain a playerbase, we need the game to be bringing in people and then keeping them.

It's like if you go to a pizza place to get some cheese pizza and then find out you really want/like pepperoni tomorrow but the place doesn't have pepperoni,

you're just gonna leave and not come back

but then again maybe it will draw in people who just want a pepperoni pizza to begin with.

    Bad analogy? Also yes.

I Have like 1500 hours and every break I take is longer. Only get in for a few weeks if I dont have any cool game in reach.

I think Dbd will be there for a long time, but the new players will become less and less and someday there will be a very small core community with no new faces. It just develops way to slow and the community is ignored for the most part.

But it will die instantly if there comes a competitor thats just halfway decent.

I don't think the competitor argument is true, I think it would most definetly hurt the playerbase but it's not going to vaporise at konami actually releasing a good HMP game.

as for the New player argument, yeah I see that, 100%

  • @SkerpiTwitch said:

There are ppl with 10k + hours, even one guy has 22k hours. So this game will never die unless bhvr pulls the plug on it

Just because one person has 22k hours doesn't reflect on the community.

Cuz' I bet right now there are bunches and thousonds of people with less than 20 hours who just never got into it and in the same vein people with thousands hours who haven't touched the game in ages either.

There's a bottleneck between people who get tired of dbd and those who don't even have the resources or ability to get into it.

just because I have 200k hours in say BF:Hardline (great game btw fite me u wont (and i don't actually have 200k hours)) doesn't mean it's got a well and alive community. In fact, if I were to go play right now on PC I would see no more than say 200 people.

  • @KolbyKolbyKolby said:

I have 4,000 hours and rank 1 both sides, not that that means anything. I feel like DBD has several years at the very least, every competitor has failed and DBD has a good stronghold on the licenses it gets.

Very nice, I think this is mostly true, but I just have these feelings:

-how many iconic horror franchises can BHVR get, for example -- try and name one (non RE) franchise from the iconic horror early days (SH and NMOES for example) that's NOT in dbd. I exclude RE bc it has RE:verse as it's next HMP game and leaks by daylight are already stirring the '5th anniversary RE crossover' pot

-Can BHVR sustain an interesting gameplay loop and generally *no offense BHVR* grow a pair of balls when it comes to changes hotfixes and player testing on y'know the player test servers?

-Can the game become more accessible to those who can't play (Hearing disabilities or things like that) RN and those who tried it, but simply don't even have the resources ingame to learn (basically can you teach the baby dweets that instead of staying in a locker to where you get AFK crows that you should only hide when necessary and that gens b4 frends

-Can the community like chill? but on the real the devs need to talk to us and we need to talk to them -- better and more coherently

No he is right, last time DS was in shrine was late 2019 so you have a good chance it will appear multiple time this year.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/3JV4VP6H07NS/ds-jpg.jpg

The number correspond to the time it has been in the SoS so it an average spawn of 2-3 per year until 2020.

What? past actions to not predict RNG?

Is it probable? sure. but it's not any less probable than another 0 for 2021.

They removed it a week before MMR. Then when MMR is delayed, they never changed it back.

I know they won't do this, but in the lobby if you could switch killers that were within a reasonable range in lobby, like if I had a 100 MMR wraith I could play my 90 MMR Trapper or 110 MMR Billy

so basically if your killers are within a reasonable range (to the MMR values scale) you could switch.

Maybe introduce this a month into MMR

if it will even last that long lol

But, if you were particularly good and the killers being salty -- you get satisfaction because 99% of survs aren't human and live for human suffering and then they revel in it.
