  • Once it starts to catch up with the comunity this will be the next "NERF DS" topic for a month, that is IF it catches up, luckily the patch is next week and the sheer amount of bugs and performance issues will make people forget about this whole thing.

  • Well some streamer made a very questionable video were he followed the scratch marks of a Survivor who started running from the 32 TR edge never trying to adjust his movement and said Survivor got a decent amount of distance so now some people are parroting that holding W is a very effective and problematic tactic that should be addressed.

This is one thing I dislike about streamers, they say something and their followers just act blindfolded and repeat the mantra, like some kind of subversive cult.

  • Gitting gud is out of the list?.

Somehow no one spits on the opponent's face when playing chess, while it could be beneficial to tilt your opponent. Guess what - being dick is still bad, even if you are being dick on purpose.

Nobody spits you in the face when playing DBD either and on a note you would be surprised how many chess players resort to do little things to annoy their rival in an attempt to get on their nerves. Angry people perform worse, its a tactic as old as competition.

  • Because its pretty much a free win, worst case scenario is usually a guaranteed 2K.

  • Disengaging after a 20/40 seconds chase where you dropped no pallets is not winning a chase? the Killer lost all that time, your teammates got roughly ~40 seconds of gen/healing/hex cleansing and the Killer got maybe 1 hit which can be healed in 16 seconds.

The survivor isnt dropping any pallets or using windows so I wouldn't really say its a worst case scenario and it counter balances majority of the variables.

He is also ignoring that approaching Survivors from a place where they cant actually locate you until you are closer is a way to shorten this problem, obviusly not all maps have this but being able to remain stealthy even when they hear your terror radius is also a skill, if a Survivor hears it and starts runnning without knowing where you are they risk running towards you half of the time or taking extremely bad paths that can lead to free hits and downs.

Also there is the option to stop a chase on the injured and go towards a gen jockey if you pass nearby, the injured has to relocate to the gen they were working, that takes time, start a new gen or heal, both really reduces the gen rush, knowing when to break chase to apply pressure where is most needed is also a skill.

Im not saying his points are invalid, in certain maps a "survivor just pressing W" can be a real concern but its not THAT strong since what decides most trials is the position of gens number 3º, 4º and to an extent 5º, generators 1º and 2º are really inconsecuential and even if popped very early there is a lot of room to recover unless you let the Survivors clear the easier to defend gens and got yourself anti3genned, for me knowing when to break chase and how to spread pressure during 3º gen is the most crucial point in a match, if you manage to spread a lot of damage and to cut chases by being able to remain undetected while approaching (I mean reamining unseen, not unheard for even in the TR Survivors have to know where you are to decide a escape route) you force them to heal wasting a lot of time or to play extremely defensive since they risk getting snowballed.

His concerns are valid but what he shows is the worst posible scenario and the game is not black and white.

  • I got into a locker to Head-on a Leatherface for laughs and giggles since there was no real reason to stun except to annoy him and missed when he was revving his chainsaw, the risk was calculated but boy Im bad at math...

  • I may give a second chance if the Survivor is obviusly out of my league because the matchmaking can be crap at times and the Steam profile is relatively clean (I always check before giving second chances and if I see several pages of "-rep tunnel and camps/toxic Survivor" or a VACban then its hookity hook time).

  • Not really, I still get 3 to 4K more than 75% of my games if I play with Myers and Jigsaw (the ones I main) and when I dont I rarely feel frustrated because it was either they were more skilled or the map that did me in, the skill one I can only blame myself, the map while frustrating it gets balanced with the amount of times I won because of the map too so I take it as a trade off.

If Im playing a Killer I rarely play its normal I perform poorly so I dont really mind either.

They really want people to buy this one too, judging from the marketing

    shame innit

I believe the marketing is centered about making the game very famous in the Korean market and selling the base game+Trickster to them than making the western, japanese and chinese markets buy it.

I also believe the last tournament and attemps to market DBD as a eSport is centered about Koreans too, since eSports are huge there.

  • Not lately but some time ago at certain hours with very low player count, usually very early in the morning, I played against the same people a lot of times during the span of my gaming session. A few times I faced someone as Survivor/Killer then next match we both switched roles and faced again.

The scenario I remember best is this time a got a face camping Wraith and then the same face camping Wraith, it wasnt very pleasant...

Hey, no need to be rude, man. I did disclaim that the idea probably isn't fair or balanced in any regard.

This just confuses me. Why would I care about some rando in another trial?

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2021978#Comment_2021978

This was inspired by Blood Warden, yes!

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2022027#Comment_2022027

I mean, explain Hag traps being countered by a common item, then.

    I think that's 'nuff said.

Not to bash on your comment, but that's literally the first thing that came to mind.

"This just confuses me. Why would I care about some rando in another trial?"

Because my posts was an hyperbole poking fun about the fact that people usually suggest ridiculously poorly tought overpowered perk/powers ideas followed by several posts suggesting even more overpowered changes to make the thing "ok at least", usually made by a bunch of mains who have little to no idea of the other side gameplay experience, usually goes like this "Hey guys I made PERK™ it gives you a free win!!" "Nah, make it so it gives you TWO free wins, now its perfectly balanced", this is very prevalent on Reddit.

Your perk idea is absurd beyond belief, its practically a free win in almost all scenarios, let me explain: equip perk, hook everyone at least once (not hard and if you cant at least hook everyone at least once in almost every trial you really need to git gud), go find a Dull Totem, camp it, wait for 5 gens to get done, if the Totem you are camping gets lit dont move and you won since it cant be cleansed with you nearby (cleansing takes 14 seconds, its impossible to do it if the Killer is camping it) if not go towards the totem that got lit and camp it, in both scenarios you won, Survivors HAVE to open the Gates, the Hex gets activated and they cant cleanse the totem.

The only exception to this is if someone has a Key but they are extremely rare on chests (~3% chance of getting a functional Key) and bringing them beforehand wouldnt be useful anyway because you only have to equip Franklins and camp the Key until it gets consumed then go towards a Dull Totem and proceed to camp it until 5 gens get done.

Also take on account you can open yourself the gates to force the perk activation, giving the Survivors 2 minutes to find the hatch if they manage to get a Key to the end game while avoiding Franklins.

P.D. this has to be the most OP suggestion Ive read in almost a year, the last one I remember was someone suggesting to get rid of one of the Exit Gates so Survivors could have only 1 escape route.

  • There is hard and there is time consuming, they usually hold hands but not always, plucking an entire field one grass at a time is not that hard but it will take you months.

DBD once you realize certain things like how to run the tiles and how to exploit somebody else mistakes its not THAT hard but taking notice of that by yourself can take time, especially if you face bad players who wont exploit your mistakes so you cant learn from them.

Not to derail the thread too much, but I'm genuinely curious what is it about Freddy that makes something like this feasible compared to any other M1 killer? (Or is the general idea there just that x strong killer + y strong perks gives same result)

Basically he has a massive base kit with no drawbacks, has one of the best stealths in the game, he can slow Survivors like Clown but doesnt need to recharge, can close loops with traps like Hag and Trapper but doesnt stop to set them and cant be deactivated, can traverse the map in seconds like Hillbilly and Blight but doesnt get stunned and the CD is very short, has a passive inbuilt slowdown like Jigsaw, less lethal but way more time consuming and not RNG based (the clock will be ALWAYS be the one further away), no TR if awake, short stature makes it harder to locate him, he is 115% etc.

Long story short, he does what the rest do (sometimes even better) with no drawbacks at all, imagine Clown could teleport, no need to recharge bottles, stealth outside of his TR and a mechanic that forces you to go to the ends of the world to get rid of it, thats almost like Freddy.

P.D. Wraith stealth got buffed recently and now its better but until those 2 buffs Freddy stealth was superior than his and that was his only power so go figure, you couldnt see Freddy outside of 32 yards while Wraith glimmered and being so short it was hard to see him anyway inside that radius unless he was in a open yard, even when asleep.

How is the legal ground here? When i say before the match, that i don´t consent to participate in the stream.

    Isn´t Twitch obliged to interfere?

I dont think there is much legal ground yet, like pretty much everything Internet related when something new appears is rarely regulated because the laws are not really prepared for new stuff but one day, something is gonna happen and somebody is going to want reparations (either some massive bullying, some unwilling participant who thinks is entitled to a share of the profits, a real death threat or wathever) then an ambulance-chasing lawyer is gonna pick the case and make a fuss, forcing regulations over all of it.

  • I dont like it for 3 reasons:

First and foremost, IF they are making money they are not giving any to the rest of the players that unwillingly participate, they wouldnt be able to play the game without the mass of players that dont stream, I dont think the guy who is getting bullied and dissed on livestream is very happy of being the laughing stock of a bunch of people when he is not even getting anything out of it.

Second mainly as Survivor teammates streamsnipping is real and it hurts the team A LOT, I dont consider it illegal, its like playing poker and showing your hand willingly to your rivals, but it doesnt mean I want to team up with you.

Third, this is not always but a lot of streamers please their audience by trolling and bullying the other team, so they end being useless, not doing much of worth because they want to piss off the Killer with their clickity-click or bullying Survivors with scummy stuff etc.

I almost always dodge streamers, nobody asked me to participate in their stream and I dont want to.

  • Nah skip the block exit thing, for each token you have a Survivor gets insta sacrificed once the gens are completed, stacks up to 5 tokens, if there are not 5 Survivors in your trial a random Survivor in a random trial gets instantly sacrificed then MAYBE it may be slightly perfectly balanced. Also make the tokens carry over to your next trials.

The things that get posted in these forums sometimes...

Right... so your complaint is against a specific comment someone made. Did that require an entire thread?

The "Bring this to counter that" is an universal comment in pretty much every forum dedicated to this game and is parroted daily by a lot of people, especially by a lot of clueless people. OP is quite right about being an invaled argument or suggestion except when a new Killer gets released/reworked because odds are you are going to face it a lot.

  • Never except if the Survivor has griefed other Survivors or attempted to do so.

  • @Tsulan said:

People suiciding on the first hook because they don´t like the killer/map/offering/weather/etc make the kill rates high.

Nah those get compensanted by Killers giving free Hatch to the last Survivor and from Killers DCing for wathever valid or invalid reason.

  • I main Myers in rank1 and he is fine, I can beat SWFs and if they beat me I always feel it was either my skill or the map, what really needs a rework is certain maps where non mobility Killers struggle a lot like Mother's Dwelling. The only change he needs is the Tier1 reveal aura stalk addon, which is pretty much useless since once out of EW1 you cant use it anymore.

I find the new "Myers needs buffs" mindset very weird, I started playing this game when Clown got out and he was tiered as A Killer, the only changes he got since then was the removal of stalking in EW3 (a nerf) and the Undetectable effect at EW1 (a big buff), take on account a lot of Survivors nerfs have come around like removal of infinites, certain maps made easier to play as M1 Killer, some perks that synergize very well with him, Survivor joint gen speed nerf, toolboxes nerfs, medkits nerfs etc and now suddenly he is Tier C and considered the worst contending with Clown, what happened? it cant be the new Survivor perks because the last meta one is from David King and it cant be power creep because Survivors are the exact same as they were or even weaker, at least he should maintain his Tier A but people send him to the lower tiers for some weird reason.

Are people getting worse at the game or the new, easier to play Killers have made them indolent?.

  • That video from Scott Jund is very good also a tip, as rule of thumb on almost any window loop IF there is the option of running it in a way the Survivor will be forced to medium vault instead of fast vault go for the one that forces medium vaults.

For example the dreaded Meat Tree in corn maps, one of the sides of the window has a small wall that foces Survivors to medium vault it so you will have to run the loop in a way they end up vaulting from the small wall side to the other, it really shortens that loop life and forces an earlier pallet drop.

  • I just got tossed out of a game with Error 8012 so I suppose its a problem in their end, a pity I was going to get roughly 31k with 4 stacks of BBQ... oh well, time for my daily walk then, gotta keep fit.

    P.D. I play PC.

I know what it was. But like I said I never heard of anyone getting banned for the wake up glitch. Never heard of anyone getting banned for spamming doc when he ignored DS. Never heard of people getting banned when certain killers got free enduring against DS.

But if you don’t count DC for hatch as an exploit I don’t know how you can be counting using addons freely available in the game as an “exploit” worth banning people over.

Both are abusing the game mechanics to get an advantage. You can nitpick all you want. It’s just combing hairs.

There is a difference, the Hatch opening when disconecting is intended, the developers want it to work that way, someone DCs and if there is only one guy left it opens. Legion stacking Deep Wounds for minutes with 2 add-ons was unintended, they didnt want to code it like that but it just glitched, it was never supposed to work like it did. In any case, the Developers are the ones deciding whats an exploit and what is banable not us, you dont like it you can always decline the EULA.

And I heard of people being banned for some exploits long time ago, it was before the Wake Up thing.

  • OP is right the system isnt supposed to work like that, if he disconected 1 week ago it should have reseted and give another 5 minutes, not an hour.

  • @SilentPill said:

So should I be out here reporting every survivor who DCs for hatch? Cause that’s heavily abused and been in the game for years now.

Thats not a bug, a bug is a glitch in the code that creates something unexpected, people disconecting, the game counting them as dead and opening the Hatch if there is only 1 Survivor left is intended. In any case if you think it should be considered an exploit report them by all means, you may be right and its ban worthy.

Examples of bugs would be the never ending Legion Deep Wounds timer, it was never intended to increase the timer over and over and a Survivor exploit which I cant really remember but I do remember some people got banned, I think it had something to do with permanent Sprint Burst.

So by your logic I shouldn't use the needle and thread add-on because I know it boosts healing speed yet it's not documented so therefore I should get banned if I do dare to use it.

Its not my logic, its their rules, read the EULA, if you exploit a bug to gain an unfair advantage they are in their right to ban you if they find out, there is no room for logics, interpretation or twists.

Also Needle & Thread does have the increased speed on its description, I dont know what you talking about.

    20210311193729_1.jpg

  • Not a valid comparison for bugs are not the equivalents to real life laws, ingame rules are equivalen to real life laws.

And the ingame rule is very clear about exploiting bugs "While participating in the Game, you also agree to comply with certain rules of conduct that govern your use of the Game (“Rules of Conduct”), for example you may not: Exploit errors in design, features which are not documented, and/or bugs to gain access that would otherwise not be available or to obtain any competitive advantage." Read the EULA its crystal clear.

  • Twins are awful, I would either get Trickster or another Killer before them, also their perks are not even great, Opression is decent but not THAT good to guarantee 9k shards. Trickter on the other hand has 3 decent perks, the Hex being actually great since it voids jungle gyms, but since its a Hex is a gamble as always.

  • @Duality said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2012387#Comment_2012387

thanks for your advice dude, i never choose my 3 gens and i use to snowball all around the map, im gonna try to focus on picking an area and sticking within it.

A lot of people have a extremely wrong mindset while playing Killer, people wanting to defend the entire map, not a single gen pop etc. Almost all maps have at least a cluster of gens, sometimes bigger and sometimes very small and obvious (like Azarovs, Suffocation or Sanctum of Wrath).

    1. First of all you NEVER want that cluster gone, even if it means losing 1 or 2 lone isolated gens, isolated gens are low priority, only worth cheking on them when the important ones are secure and you have nothing better to do.
    2. You want every single pallet on said cluster gone so herd Survivors there and get rid of them.
    3. Learn when to break chase and go put pressure on gen jockeys, especially if they are working in gens in dead zones where you have broken every pallet or in the cluster.
    4. If you relied on Ruin you should stop using it, against Reds it tends to last 1 minute or less except if you got one of the maps where totems are hard to find, get rid of NOED if you use it too, its a "participation award" perk and forces you to play with 3 perks to reward you 1 hook in end game, also NOED gives you value even by not equipping it since a lot of Survivors will cleanse Dulls to avoid it even if you dont have it.
    5. BBQ and Chili is a good perk on certain Killers, since I dont know what you are playing if you are using a no mobility Killer (Myers, Jigsaw, Trapper etc) Surveillance or Discordance are much better detection perks, both tell you where and when to apply pressure, knowing there are 2 guys at the end of the map as Myers is of no value since it would take you 20 seconds to reach there but knowing which gens are being worked on so you can go pressure them is much more useful, especially if you have PGTW (the extra BPs are nice tho).
    6. Try to approach gens from a desirable direction, if the right side has a dead zone with no pallets and the left side has a jungle gym, a meat tree, 4 pallets and the shack try to approach the gen from there so the Survivor has no option but to run towars the dead zone or eat a hit, that would almost guarantee a fast hit (then he will run towards a safer tile but at least you cut the chase timer in half), I see a lot of Killers approaching gens from the dead zone instead of taking a small detour to ambush.

And overall, take what the forum, Reddit and a lot of people say with a grain of salt, this game has a ton of very bad players in both sides (especially bad players who think they are great), certain Youtube streamers can give a lot of good advice and some are extremely good but a lot of what they do needs practice so dont expect to watch a video and being an unstoppable god just by watching some pro with 4000 hours doing it.

Also being good is not only knowing mechanics and having map awareness its also having good reaction timers and the ability to remain unpredicable (for example almost all bad Spirits attempt to fake the phase the first time you reach a loop with a pallet, good Spirits are less predictable) and that is only gained with practice.

  • I would like to know if Im going to face Twins so I can lobby dodge, other than that the problem is what people have already stated, Survivors would equip all perks related to counter that Killer.

  • Because the map has like 2 windows, almost no LoS blockers on the top floor, very clustered gens and few lockers so they went with a ton of pallets, it makes for a very boring gamestyle where you have to burn pallet after pallet.

Can you blame people for ditching their teammates ruining the game for four other people against Twins? really?.

Fixed that for you (assuming by 'ditching' mean hook suicide / disconnect).

    And yes. I can.

That game was ruined the very moment someone decided to queue as Twins a DC or a hook suicide is just the cherry on the top of a big pile of [BAD WORD].

  • Can you blame people for ditching their teammates against Twins? really?.

  • Why would you want to destroy a secondary objective that almost always works in the Killers favour unless extremely lucky or a dedicated build for it?.

Searching a chest takes 10 seconds, if you get a brown toolbox you save 6 seconds in a gen, a 4 second net loss, if you get the Commodius, the toolbox that saves the most on a gen, you save a whoping 10.5 seconds, a 0,5 net gain. That doesnt take on account the sheer time wasted going where the chest is so toolboxes are almost always not worthwhile.

Flashlights, first they are the worst item a Survivor can bring, blinding a Killer during pallet break is not worth, better to use that time to gain distance, saves are extremely hard against decent Killers and unless you get the purple one the yellow and green are pretty bad without addons.

Maps, overall useless without add-ons, especially the green one.

Medkits, this is one of the 2 items thats actually decent in a chest, since they allow a lone Survivor to heal himself and even the brown one heals as fast as a teammate healing you..

Keys, great on paper but the chance of a purple or pink key is 2%, so they almost never appear unless Plunderer's shenanigans and you still have to fix the gens for Hatch to appear or wait until everyone kicks the bucket.

TL/DR Chests are pretty useless and a gamble that almost always works in the Killer side, unless using Plunderers you want Survivors searching every chest in the map because either they search chests, do totems or fix gens and what makes you lose the game are Gens, not chests or totems. On a side note, the Killer offering should actually spawn more chests with worse items not decrease the number of it.

  • I use "The Millenials" for Legion and "who the heck tought this was good gameplay design?!" for Twins.

  • Because they have to monetize their game in some way, I wish we could get everything as updates like Valve did with TF2 but at least we can get the perks on the Shrine and get non licensed stuff with Shards.

Valve with TF2 is not that good as an example for they have the income from Steam to fund all their updates so take on account that before drawing comparisons.

  • I dont care about "losing" or "winning" so I try to be fair in both roles, as Killer not tunneling, no camping, never used old Moris, no Spirit/Freddy and I usually play what the comunity believes are weak Killers because I like their style (which I disagree, I think the comunity is just very bad), as Survivor if we are going very well I will stop to cleanse totems and open boxes and no t-bags.

  • There is, playing fair and going for 12 hooks instead of camping and tunneling gives way more BPs since you get more chases, more uses of your power, more hooks, more break pallet/gen interactions etc.

People who camp a hook even if they get 4k usually end with less than 15k while if you go for 12 hooks even if you dont kill anyone you will get 20k, usually more depending on what kind of power your Killer has.

  • @GodLikeTerror said:

I mean whatever gets people to play twins, because right now they are the least played killer in the game.

    No.gif

Twins should be deleted or changed entirely and given a new power, a Killer designed to tunnel and slug to such a degree is beyond absurd.

I remember reading somewhere they first came up with a character design and then they created the power around that design, I tought it was a joke since its a terrible design philosophy, Twins is the confirmation they actually create the character first and then plaster wathever power they can think of no matter how awful it is.

  • They did and removed them a while back.

  • Was it fun in any of its iterations?.

  • Im yet to find any Blight player who is anything but a sweatlord.

  • I do it if the Killer has been scummy beyond a reasonable level in an attempt to tilt them, it usually works, especially when paired with rushed action spam.

  • Because Spirit is super easy to play and extremely strong even in not good hands so people see her as a cheesy easy modo while Nurse is quite hard to play and master.

A lot of people respect effort and dedication and frown upon easy way outs, thats why Spirit is not very respected, especially if paired with Stridor.

They have to because murdering underages is usually a no go in every game.

Not only that but in some countries is ilegal to despict violence against children in videogames in a realistic way, minors can die if its offscreen or implied but being show you risk your game banned.

  • "Yes I literally tortured myself"

If this is true and not an exageration you have a problem, if the game is unfun or reaches levels where you have to force yourself to play it then dont and never come back until it starts to be fun again. This applies to any hobby or form of entertainement in life.

  • Well, the only real counter are lockers, hidding behind gens, getting on range or running Distortion, what else do you want to hear? there is no magic trick, Blight is very very fast if he sees your aura he can get on you way faster than you can change tile and erase your scractchs, the only real counter is blocking your aura and the only way to do that is those 4.

  • But the problem is almost all maps are outdoors so it would be useless to burn one of those (out of 35, 31 are outdoors), I think grouping the offerings in packs of 4/5/6 maps with similar gamestyle oriented maps would make more sense, like "stealth map offering" "indoor offering" "big open map offering" etc so you could aim for a certain style that fits how you wanna play, for example Hillbilly would benefit from a "big open map offering".

We have 15 realms so we have 15 map offerings, if you group on average 5 maps per offering you would have only 7, less than half of what we have now, also I would delete the cancel map offering, right now doesnt make much sense except against SWFs and I think another solution would be far better than what we have now.

  • It would be nice, it would also allow you to avoid zones where someone is hiding or use it to prepare for a Head-on from a teammate and as you said, this would be such a niche buff it wouldnt make the much better.

1 … 37 38 39 40 41 … 59
