  • I just like walking around. It sounds stupid but the downtime when you're a survivor and you can't find a gen and the killer isn't chasing you, you can just kinda look around at stuff. The maps are pretty cool. Same thing as killer but to a lesser degree.

To me the game as a whole is pretty chill but I've been playing for a long time. I instinctively optimize loops etc. The atmosphere is pretty good times.

  • bGSb0.jpg

This is how I feel after I finish my rift challenge. Do what you must killer, for I have already won.

As killer if you press too hard it takes a few minutes for survivors to unhook everyone and get their business back in order. Those few minutes feel good if you start toying with the survivors before pressing hard again. I'm usually one to give the hatch though so it's not too bad on them.

  • Let me make it real simple for you. Use the 3 blink add on and mess around until a survivor memes with you. Injure them and have them work on a gen. Blink twice into the ground and on the third blink rip them off the generator.

    Nice and easy.

  • Jokes on them, I don't use twitch so I'm immune to all of their policies. It doesn't matter to me.

...I don't stream snipe though since I don't use twitch. Seems kinda lame.

  • I think she'll be able to walk through walls while hiding her killer stain, but she'll have to commit to the action and it'll take two seconds or so. VHS tape effect would show to give survivors a bit of a heads up with add ons decreasing the visual blur.

She could also slowly suffocate the survivor, slowing them down the longer they're in chase with her while their screen distorts. It wouldn't win you any games but she could have an active ability to make it a lot more intense. Kinda like a clown bottle.

I'd also give her Freddy's teleport to generators but instead of the generator, a well nearby with multiple wells or TVs nearby that she can use to travel through.

  • I have no idea how they're gonna pull off a killer like the girl from the well off, but I'm excited for it!

  • There are some nights where I'll play this game when I'm tired. A few years ago I was much less likely to look behind me in a chase. Just a habit I hadn't developed yet. So Doctor has an add on that puts a red stain on your back and keeps the terror radius playing right?

I looped the Doctor for a good while, didn't get downed at all. Actually wait he's chasing another survivor and I'm just sitting here with a red stain on me. I hope nobody saw that.

  • It would be nice if we got a message that said how many more cosmetics we need to complete the event. Jane Romero has been my 'Killer Whisperer' where she'll approach a killer in a snowman suit and see if they're friendly.

I think she's getting upset since the only raises she's getting is yeeted into the sky by an Entity hook.

  • I've found as I've gotten older sometimes wearing more clothes is way more attractive than scantily clad, but have you seen the snowmen?

I'm straight as an arrow but dang, yo.

  • Hmm. I don't think so. I was so busy looking for golden toolboxes a snowman never crossed my mind.

I wonder if I crouch next to one if I can get the killer to meme with me.

  • At first Jill was a normal survivor, but the survivors that played Jill twisted the player model until her face looked like a twisted shell of what it was supposed to be. It's only a matter of time before she begins sprouting spikes and her flesh melts away from a misplaced blast mine to reveal a creature that will have its own terror radius.

During the brief moments before the Devs realize what's going on and try desperately to patch her out, she'll have four infinite use flashlights and will regenerate her health every 4 seconds. Only the hardiest of slashers will be able to take her down.

  • Originally the game was hide and seek and the maps were a lot darker. Looping was actually not intended and only came into being once people figured out survivors had smaller hitboxes than killers. People bad at hide and seek had to do everything they could to stay in the game, and slowly over time the people good at hide and seek suddenly weren't good anymore.

So if you want to get technical people that can't hide would be considered unskillful by original game design. Kinda funny how that happened.

  • Back in yonder day my build was Self Care/Dead Hard/Calm Spirit/Decisive Strike.

Nowadays Borrowed Time/Self Care/Botany Knowledge/Dead Hard is probably the most all rounded set to keep you in the game the longest. Better chance to pip each time. On the bright side you can't really derank anymore if you have a losing streak.

  • I think the chains should latch onto the box instead of the survivor and if the survivor is holding the box then when the chains hit them it should be functionally the same but the survivor should be focusing on freeing the box from the chains.

Then when the box is solved the chains take the box away with them instead of the box dissolving into the floor like it does now.

    Yes.

  • I miss those offerings. Imagine a pitch black Dead Dawg Saloon. We lost so much.

  • I agree. If you look at the history of perk fear mongering people will hype up X perk, and then you'll see it once in a blue moon. This game is pay to lose and always will be. The only exception for a long time was Decisive Strike. All meta perks will be base game and that's by design and always will be.

  • Hexes in all forms are useless if you're looking for consistency. Corrupt Intervention is much better for consistency as far as stopping generators.

    HOWEVER

If you're a gambling man you can say before the match that this hex will last as long as I need it to. It either will or it won't. Personally I'm falling in love with Hex: Pentimento because it's a cheeky perk. I just restore a totem as soon as it goes down. They either ignore it or swarm it. I'm entertained either way.

  • Alwaysuseprotection.png

Yeah it looks like this on the login screen. Nothing like a hook to get ya in the mood.

  • I personally like the Trapper body cosmetic that has a hook hanging off the belt. On the main menu when the Trapper is wearing it, the hook is very prominent and it echoes the feel of the game to me.

  • Don't quote me on this but I'm pretty sure the Demogorgon was just being controlled by the Entity and was just mindlessly following tasks.

  • Seconded. Actually now that I think about it having a survivor with a crow costume...like a chicken costume (or maybe also a chicken costume) could be cool. You just see a survivor crouched out in the open trying to look natural dressed up in a fat crow suit.

    That'd be amazing.

  • My artist crashed after a survivor ran out the exit gate as I smacked him with crows. They probably thought I rage quit.

I also noticed this game gets turbo sluggish if you finish a bloodweb and it transitions to the next bloodweb as soon as a lobby pops. It's like the game doesn't know what to do so it just borks out.

  • AdeptArtist.png

Okay so I sat down and put my game face on. Her power is good at keeping tabs on survivors trying to mindgame you behind walls but as far as a downing tool it's only possible if they've really goofed or over committed to their loop. Gotta go up and give them the old razzle dazzle the old fashioned way.

Some survivors are reliant on their power (Huntress, Nurse, etc.)

Some are not. Artist is not. As a tool it's fine, as main method of attack...nah.

The thing is that Artist has a way more reliable long range ability than Huntress. Sure she will take time to down survivors sometimes, but what other killers besides Nurse, Spirit and Blight can down survivors faster?

I'd argue the survivors with one hit downs Hillbilly/Leatherface/Myers etc but I get what ya mean. I'll be on the look out to see what other people are doing with her. Who knows. I've seen some players carefully lining up crows so they hit after the invincibility for the survivor wears off so maybe we'll get a golf announcer for the Artist soon. Art is a pretty peaceful profession.

Golf announcer: The artist is lining up the shot, it looks like she's judging the wind to see which way the survivor will run after getting swarmed. Here at the major league golfing club we take pride in our well lined up shots. Ah. There she goes. It looks like she got an injure.

*muted golf clap from the audience*

Golf announcer: It looks like that shot had a 32.3333% chance of landing. Repeating of course.

Oni screams and runs in: LEEEEEEEEEROOOOOOOOOY.

*Golf announcer drops mic and the feed stops.*

  • @Labrac said:

Honestly I think it's a matter of L2P. Swarming with 1 bird and then using 3 to injure is strong af.

In this scenario you have used your killer ability twice, with one of those times being a full charge to get an injure on a single survivor. At minimum you're putting 20 seconds of investment into that maneuver, assuming you land your crows. It takes 80 seconds to complete a generator.

So now you've got an injured survivor and you fire off three more crows and down them. 20 more seconds. Now you've got to go hook them. ~10 seconds. Now you've got to go find other survivors. Might be fast if you use your crows to scout.

If it was an add on sure, but this is your ability. If I hit you with a giant bird head you need to be injured. I'll let the flock of crows just swarming you pass though since cross map shenanigans are kinda cheeky. Looking at you Huntress.

  • Yeah I've been trying her with the limited time I have. I do adepts before I allow my killers to have perks and she's getting destroyed at my MMR. There's an achievement for downing someone with a crow but that takes way too long to do. Fortunately she's a normal speed killer.

The crows are okay as scouting to see if a survivor is at a gen or in an area...but you still have to go down there and down them. My survivors just keep doing their gen. So as far as I'm concerned unless I'm doing something wrong she's just an M1 killer with a cool design. There's no reason/incentive to use the crows.

    AdeptTrickster.png

This is coming from someone that has no problem just M1'ing down people on a slow killer, back when Trickster blades were useless per investment put into them. Note the minimal devious score.

The birds also tell survivors you're coming so unless you're being cheeky just avoid them altogether and M1 them down. It's faster and more effective.

  • Just poking in as Trapper is my main. Never trap pallets. The only time it's okay-ish is if the pallet is already dropped and you want to trap them on the other side while they're stuck in the vault animation.

The key to trapping loops is to trap around the peripheral of it where the survivor is running their loops, grass helps but if they're looking at you they're not looking at their feet. Watch how survivors run around a loop and remember it...then put a trap there next time you're on that tile as Trapper. I also like to do narrow hallways/doorways/TL wall windows but they're lower on the priority.

Edit: Also if you trap pallets you're setting yourself up to get pallet slammed.

  • Jonah playing games on his tablet at the campfire. Heh.

  • If you're trying to use dire properly, think of it as an animal in dire straights. A starving beast, that NEEDS to kill you or it's going to die itself. It's going to put everything it has into taking you down. That's why it's used the way it is.

Dire itself just 'very urgent' or 'very serious'.

So in this context a very desperate artist with her arms removed manifest itself with crows that NEED to slaughter you to satisfy the Entity. She's in a haze and panic and MUST kill you. That's what's going on.

  • Hmm. Clown could plant prank boxes (think jack in the box) and after a certain wind up time if a survivor walks by it the jack in the box pops up and the survivor screams. If it's found before the wind up it could be disarmed.

More of a 'hey someone is over there' tool.

  • I've always played solo. I feel like 90% of the time I get found first by the killer so by necessity I've gotten good at the role. I can run perkless or whatever but I do like having Dead Hard for my chases and a way to heal so I don't have to depend on a team. It's just me vs the killer. The other three people are point nodes I pull off hooks for altruism.

To be honest though I'm not invested in the trial unless I'm doing a rift challenge where I need to get a specific thing done. On first hook I tab out and watch the game with my mouse over the DbD icon until I see someone unhook me. If the killer is sitting on the hook then I'll Dead Hard and find a pallet/window/die.

That's it. That's the game. I can do very well but I have no emotional investment in the trials. I do get mad though if I'm trying to find a glyph and the killer won't go chase someone else.

  • Sort of related some gunslingers want you to struggle and escape so they can injure you without losing a save the best for last stack.

If you just refuse to wiggle then that can get awkward depending on how badly they want to keep that stack of theirs.

  • Being walked after by a Nurse that doesn't blink is kinda terrifying. It's like waiting for a Huntress to raise her hatchet to toss it.

You wait for the inevitable, but it never comes. The Nurse floats menacingly. Always moving forward. Never losing track of you.

There are no jukes. She is always on the horizon. You cannot stop to do bones. Do a gen. Heal a teammate. She walks towards you at all times.

You cannot run. The exit gates cannot open because you can't do a gen.

    F L O A T I N G M E N A C I N G L Y

  • I will say as survivor even if your team dies you can still get a 32k perfect game (and a little beyond during some seasons).

    survivi.png survivi2.png

So don't worry about your team. Get great skillchecks. Max your categories and show that killer there are more things to fear out there than SWF squads. It is possible so if you enjoy the survivor role then don't give it up. I'm a solo survivor and do fine, even when my team is a little squeeshy.

(I'm not toxic either. 95% of the time post game chat is chill. It's fun.)

  • I started playing the game as killer and that's what got me into it. I find it a lot of fun.

I think what a lot of people are talking about when killer gets jipped is super high end games. Most of my games are pretty chill.

    Wanna hear something worse?

A lot of people playing DBD were born after the Dreamcast was discontinued.

    dead.jpg

    Oh okay.

  • You're right, but I'm trying to be supportive of the little globe that runs around in our lobbies. They're so cute!

  • I do. Clown stomping on someone's head repeatedly or Leatherface treating survivors like Wraith's bell was amazing. Gave the game a lot of soul. If I were them I'd have just hardlocked you into the animation after doing it five times, but instead we have what we have now.

Guess someone is always gonna take things too far, eh?

  • Grats on Grade 1. I guess Nintendoes what PC don't.

  • Left click the mouse button.

There are add ons that bring your movement speed up. Combine blinks with normal chases until you get a feel for the Nurse, then go for add ons that increase your blinks when you feel confident. Nurse is one of if not the best killer in the game, and it's worth learning, but she is a killer you will have to definitely learn in a literal sense. Practice, practice.

  • It flip flops. Red Rank Killer Queues used to be complete agony.

  • Killer is fun. I do on occasion get that group that pushes gens quicker than I can down them to a surprising degree, but once you learn to drop chases if a survivor is kiting you then things get a lot easier. Some survivors have trouble predicting what I'll do next and it makes them make mistakes. This is fortunate because usually I don't even know what I'm going to do next so it works out.

That survivor doesn't HAVE to go down right now. You just need to zone him away from the generators so he can play in his pallet fort where there are no gens for him to play with.

My playstyle is really active though and I'm the type to be hyper aggressive and play with no gen defense and Devour Hope/Rancor etc. If you let me nibble on your team long enough you're gonna regret it and thus, this is why I enjoy killer. I like making survivors think and see how they react. Sometimes I learn tricks from other survivors by watching what they do vs. me.

  • If Dweet somehow got freed from the trials my new survivor would be Meg. She's the one I hit Rank 1 on back in the day for the Legendary Survivor achievement, but Dwight ended up being P3 and getting all the perks and stuff.

Killer side my P3 main is Trapper, but if Evan poofed I'd likely be an Oni main. It's so cathartic to going from a thinking role on where to put traps to SMACK SURVIVOR, CHOO CHOO HERE I COME!

  • Trickster is very very easy to go against on maps with the classic killer shack.

You loop on the outside for ages (even longer if he draws his knives at any point) then once he gets about eight feet from you start taking the window until the Entity blocks it, then if he's STILL on you drop the pallet and do it again. It's when he catches you in the open that he starts causing you trouble (assuming he can aim). As soon as you see him just hug walls. Hug walls and take advantage of his slow run speed by holding W.

Most of the time I go down it's because I'm skulking around stage props to hide my survivor and the Trickster will find me and hit me with the bat, then start tossing knives while I'm out of position and that's my fault when it happens.

  • "I can make one more loop around this pallet."

I often have to go back and edit posts I just made here on this forum too due to autocorrect wrongly assuming what I meant to say and changing it before I realize it. As for the game text chat, I'm on Xbox one and can't seem to find the chat. Am I missing it ?

Have heard of how silly the game chat censors are though. It sounds ridiculously hilarious. Especially for an m rated game that only adults should be playing anyways. We aren't children. We can read a few no no words, and if an adult can't then that's on them ultimately. The game does also have report features for those who choose to report the no no words, and I'm sure there's a block feature too.

You're not really missing much. In the earlier days when it was peer to peer it was a great tool for making friends and a lot of my friends on my Steam account are from just chatting after the match. Now the game is popular and swollen with the normie horde so since this is a Canadian company they're beholden to Canadian laws and I imagine are strict as a precaution.

Nowadays you stay in the lobby for about a minute and watch the tally screen go by, then you'll look to your right to see if anyone said 'gg' to which you'll reply gg in turn. Sometimes people will ask a question if they don't see a globe by your name and sometimes you can get a chat out of it. If you play like a snot though you'll be made aware of it. (Survivor/Killer handbook etc memes.)

I like to keep chat on but it can get a rise out of you if you let it.

  • Everyone is playing the game wrong though. That other survivor or killer in queue did better than you last game, step it up.

Trapper like that is fun. There is a lot you can do with him and be cheeky with. I was running the purple stone add on and wiped out half the survivor team when I was tabbed out and refreshing my music. Very underrated slasher.
