Interesting chat. My instinct is that the players in this discussion are sleeping on the buffs the Knight received on Friday notes.
I've read his buffs and I mentioned it in my first post, we didn't test it, coz they closed beta without letting people test the changes (which is kinda weird), 0.5 sec buffs to his power feels like "meh", survivors are still be able just Shift+w out of his power. Besides, since they still see a green orb, as a Knight you most likely will never catch them in your power if you're not tapping it at loops.
So to me these buffs seems pretty pointless, I think instead of twicking the numbers they should've just remove the visual green orb, and fix all AI's bugs. Thats it. And this killer will seems much more enjoyable to play for both sides.
Since it will be all about mindgames, instead of holding Shift+W.
-
Are you using some filters?
-
Exposed status effect will not work if that happen. (Starstruck in particular)
The main complain about Nurse right now.
If she would be unable to grab from blinks it will be superfluous, just taking away an exposed from her is enough.

@AetherBytes said:
Honestly, the orb should be replaced with directional audio or something, like the spirit. Doesn't tell you it's exact path, just that it's nearby
Yes, I actually created a post 2 weeks ago on the PTB feedback, suggesting to remove the visible green orb from survivors to let the knight play predictively.
I literally said: "Just let survivors only hear the orb, with that way the Knight can predict where survivors are heading to put a guard ahead of them, it will make Hold W tactic dissapear and open the opportunity for skillfull playes and for survivors to use their ears more."
Just like against a Spirit, instead of an Artist.

This killer will not shine in higher rank-games for sure. He will 4K in low-MMR, but above that, forget him.
My point is simple:
Why would anyone play just a weaker and more boring version of an Artist? It makes no sense. Just play Artist.
If the only way of using his power efficiently is just tapping it at loops - no one will want to play as him or against him in less than a week.
I'm just hoping that I'm wrong and you will actually be able to use it efficiently like it was intended, so... I'm just gonna play as him in 3 matches, to get a complete view.
Also, I'm probably going to get a really strong survivors since the current mmr system is putting any new killer on a account with the same mmr as the highest mmr killer in your account. (For me it's Hag)

of all perks the healthiest? are you sure about that? there is like over 40 perks. And dead hard, out of all, is the fairest? you cant be serious.
If you know that this survivor have a DH and you still not waited it out - thats your skill issue.
Survivors can't use it for distance (unhealthy) anymore, and I do think that this perk is completely fair now.
-
Oh come on... You can safely use a DH in front of the killer only 1 time, when killer don't know if you have one.
After first use, the killer will expect it for the rest of the match, and just wait it up...
The main problem with DH were solved (distance), I think this is the healthiest and fair perk now.
-
Yes, they do.

I actually was accused of WH, when I was playing a Nurse yesterday on a RPD...

I really like playing against Hag, because I really like playing as her ! =D
She's quite fragile in her power, easily counterable by people who know how to go against her, which I encounter frequently. Even in solo, if you know how Hag works, and she's not a pro player, you can absolutely counter her.
I like going against her because I like the challenge of "Ok, if I were her, what would I do from now ? What would I have trapped ?".
Sure, she's a bit of a solo stomper, but then again, so are other killers. Playing solo against her is hard because she's so rare, so people don't learn to play against her, and you're likely to be in a team where you're the only person who knows what to do. If more people played her, more people would know how to counter her, and she wouldn't be as scary.
As for the camp, not all Hags camp (or have Franklin's, for that matter : I know I don't, because I don't own Leatherface DLC). Sure, they'll try and go for 3 gen strats, but it's reasonably straightforward to counter.
I, for one, wish I saw her more often ! =D
The most scariest Hags are the ones, that don't trap the hooked survivors. *Wink... Wink...*

calling a killer weak because you arent good at using him is the problem here. its basically the epidemic of the forums. everyone says every killer is weak. and yet in the real world where the games are being played you will see a wide variety of players that are great with said killers taht people say arent any good. this is unfortunately how it works. people will start using a killer, 2 matches into it they quit using them and claim the killer is weak
Aren't good with WHAT?!
Ok, I'm gonna stop.=) If you think that killer is strong (or good), I'm happy for you.=)
You don't need to prove anything to anyone, I can highly respect any opinion.=)

Hag, like Nurse, relies on a different playstyle, and survivors don't like adapting to different playstyles. They want to run around the same wall 50 times until they can smack you will a pallet and repeat until the gates are open.
Frankly I enjoy going against Hag, as well as Nurse, Mirror Myers and Ghostface, because they actually feel like horror games instead of an asymmetrical beat 'em up.
I don't understand when people saying that "I don't want learn how to play against this or that killer".
Literally just like you said: They want to run around the same wall 50 times until they can smack you will a pallet and repeat until the gates are open.
The main reason of having a different killers - Each killer should have it's own counters. I hope dbd players will understand that.

yeah.....sure....funny how others dont seem to share your struggles with him. me think you just need to learn how to play dredge
Well, aside from my acquaintances, solely on this thread you can see people think the same, that the dredge is overrated, and actually being more on a weaker side.
If you actually have read my first post in this thread, and still think that I need to learn "how to play Dredge", before I continue I want to ask the same question again (last time): Learn what exactly? How to use locker teleports? How to use remnant? How to basically play any M1 killer?
If you don't want to be more specific, I don't think you should give any (unwanted) advices. Dredge is not the Nurse, when someone telling "Learn how to play nurse" - I'm not asking with what exactly, since it's clearly meant to "get good with blinks". With Dredge it's a different story, you have to be more specific.
@Lekitzul said:
I mean, he's like most killers, they tend to have maps they are good at, and maps that are worse. Like Ghostie is better in darker arenas. Triskster/Huntress need some throwing room. Dredge needs lockers. I think he's pretty good overall.
Lockers not going to help you get a quick down.=) At least not against a good survivors who knows what to do. Most of the time, when you're playing Dredge, you don't really want to use his ability at all in a chase. xD Survivors just getting distance on you each time you're putting down a remnant, they changing direction if you teleport to lockers, he's a basic M1 killer, when it comes to chases. He has a strong and very easy counter to his ability.
You can't get a fast down from a chase because of that, and this is why I think this killer is not as strong as some people might think he is.
Dredge is really overrated. I actually have seen that someone was putting him into A tier above Artist and Huntress, that was making me wonder if they are actually understand what are they even talking about.=)

Because the game is designed for Killers to be constantly moving.
Survivors may require small movements or sitting still in some cases, but more often than not, the killer has four other survivors to pressure which means they need to constantly move to deal with such.
No, I think it's because they didn't updated old killers animations yet, If you take a look at newer killers (Sadako, Dredge, Wesker, Knight) they do actually have a proper "Rotate animation".

Survivors have a realistic (pretty much) animation when they turn left or right when they stand in 1 place.
But look at the killers, when they do the same, it looks like their whole model is just turning like on some sort of a platform.
This is what I meant, nothing to do with 360. =)

What's the evidence when a survivor is wallhacking, you cant tell because it just look like they just evading you and leave early a generator.
The only way to properly tell if someone is 100% cheating is to have a replay system in this game which probably wont happend because of the bad code dbd has.
Also it shouldn't be a player job to always record his gameplay just in case he encounters a cheater, cheaters have made a playground out of dbd because the game has so many vulnerabilities and its so easy to cheat, especially since subtle cheats are so hard to spot.Even with video proof.
Exactly in the case of wallhacking - yes. You can't tell for sure.
Me too, I'd love to see a replay system, but... From scratch it's going to take forever to implement, since it's involved the match id system first.
-
@Adaez said:
Title.
Its almost 2023 and this game does not have a replay option to see if a survivor is cheating or not.
Subtle wallhack cheaters, that always know where you are and you can never catch them because they know where the killer and every loop is.
Subtle repair and healing speed cheaters, that cheat just a little so you wont notice, subtle speedhack cheaters that speed up just a little.
If there are 300 cheaters in this game,I guarantee you BHVR doesn't ban even 20 of them, unless they mess with the currency.
And it shouldn't be the play job to have video proof, get out of the game, make a ticket, just so you can have 1 cheater out of 1000 banned, that probably has a lot of other burner accounts they can cheat on again and again.
Cheating is worse that the current balance problems and facecamping, tunneling, slugging,in this game.
No, they do ban any cheater that were properly reported with evidence.

Tryhard is not simply playing good as killer doing insane moves and reads, those survivors of the chat were simply angry, a tryhard killer is the one who try to get the 4k at all cost, trying to force a 3-gen every match, camping, tunneling, slugging the penultimate survivor for avoiding the last one to get the hatch, always full meta perks and usually strong addons, that is a tryhard killer, being good in chase and downing people quickly and having game sense is not being tryhard. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
In my case, I think they were just salty over a loss, and instead of compliment in return, they just tried to "flex" in the end-chat. =)
No tunneling or camping were involved in my last matches tho... So... Yeah.

I'd like to see how you condemn a good survivors without iri tape. xD

Usually it's survivors who complain about 4 slow down perks.
-
The thing is: If you just brought a new killer, your first match will be against strongest survivors you faced on this account (your biggest mmr), which I think is not right.
I think it should not work like that, since I'm basically new with this killer and I can't face the same survivors that I face with my main.
Also, each killer on the account have their own mmr.

It's the psychology of people. You may be extremely good at playing killer and by default pretending to play sweaty looking like nothing else is worth in life just that one game (you'd die for it). There are certain players in certain games that are just showing full dedication to have a professional play and there's nothing wrong with it. Everyone has their own domain of excelling.
That's to say, something to pay respect rather than to insult. If you end up being told "you have no life" from someone try harding just like you, that's pure jealousy for losing and feeling to say something back... to make sure you hold the higher position in the game. Now if you win by trying very hard (close game even) and still call the opponents try hard, that is straight up the feeling of flexing over someone... the inability of shaking up their hands (this we call ego).
Every game, not only Dead by Daylight will have try hards and people who will either try to dominate over their game using huge EGOs, treating them like garbage. My best advice, ignore such players... say GG and move on.
There are lot of threads during the years of this discussion, it will never change. This is how online gaming is working.
Unfortunately...

Has happened to me a couple of times now. The killer keeping me in the game for no reason by just leaving me on the floor and letting me bleed out or waiting until the last second to mori me or hook me. Had games where I spent like 5 minutes on the ground not able to do anything. I have nothing against slugging but 5 minutes of just laying there not being able to do anything just feels to much. Wonder if this is reportable since it could be viewed as also being taken hostage if only for the time until I bleed out.
So sorry that happened to you... That killer obviously was pretty salty and angry at you. (I'd like to know why, but whatever...)
Unfortunately it's not reportable. Bleeding out has a timer, so you can't say he\she was holding you hostage.
Btw... Some survivors are actually pretty infuriating with the way they playing, trolls, T-baggers, etc...
Just play a game, don't anger the person, and this person will not do anything bad back to you.

Whenever I see someone being called a try hard, they tunnelled, slugged and camped all match which is usually the reason it's said. What about me tho? xD
I didn't tunneled or camped a single survivor in any of these 4 matches in a row. And in all these 4 matches, I complimented them for actually giving me a challenge, but they just said: "Tryhard"... Excuse me?!

overrated killer. he is noobstomper. He gains killer instinct while teleporting to lockers in nightfall, Its anti-stealth mechanic but in stealth in 2022 is not that prominent. Its mostly what new players because of their lack of looping skills. Nightfall block's vision of loops. All survivor above 5000 hours that are at high-level memorize all pallet loops hence blocking vision is irrelevant. Locker teleport is situational as survivor can hear him exit out of lockers. He also has large ambient sounds making him ineffective stealth. His remnant anti-loop can countered by chaining-tile junks tiles. Of course lesser experienced survivors struggle to loop and chain-tiles together. His anti-loop only works if there are no loops for survivor to detached to. As a result, he is strong when you are in the corner of the map as survivor. Ironically, he is like artist where he lacks counter-play when your in the corner of the map but his time to down is very slow, He is generally easy to beat if your team is effective on generators and you drag out the chases properly.
Yes, exactly from my point of view about killers "tiers", if a killer can't down survivors in a chase quickly enough, I consider such killers as a weak in general. I actually think that... Main reason to call a killer strong - is when this killer can down survivors in chases within less than 20 seconds.
He's overrated indeed. Like crazy.

@Pulsar said:
I just dislike him because Nightfall makes my eyes hurt
I heard the stories that you're a pretty good at playing survivor, what do you think of him, is he easy to loop around, and getting out of a chase?=)
-
@Seraphor said:
As a Dredge main, I think he is quite good.
- Locked lockers don't really pose that much of an issue. I don't use lockers as a chase power anyway, exiting them instantly is usually not a make-or-break issue. I use them for speedy map traversal, and whether it takes 1 seconds or 3 seconds to exit, it's still faster than walking. Plus, they can only be locked once. I often burst out of locked lockers purely to break them. Dredge is one of the few killers I actually have the time to do stuff like this with, because of the freedom of movement that locker teleporting provides.
- Forcing survivors away from a strong loop is still a decent move. When I play an M1 killer like Ghostface, I can get stuck on a loop for ages, running around it dozens of times waiting for the survivor to drop the pallet, only to get stunned, break the pallet, and then move to the next loop. Forcing survivors to hold W takes so much time out of the equation. It gets them away from strong loops, and then when they do get to a weak loop, I can actually use the anti-loop aspect of his power more effectively and secure a hit.
- I almost never count on Nightfall as a stealth power, I use it purely for the reduced teleport cooldown and killer instinct, which are both invaluable. Being able to quickly locate other survivors, and then quickly catch up to them, is a killer power without parallel. It's like playing Doctor and Nurse at the same time. The closest thing to this would be Legions Frenzy or Sadako/Wesker when a survivor becomes fully condemned/infected, but those all have limitations. Nightfall occurs regularly, can be sped up by my actions, and the info is triggered directly by my actions.
But wait, forcing survivors away from a loops is just a completely map dependant tactic, no? If there will be a connected tiles and loops, it gonna take you forever to even get a single hit, since his power slowing him down stronger than Artist.
Artist not actually losing distance when they hold W away from a loop, Dredge does. And that means, he's basically an M1 killer without any power in chases.
You can't teleport while you in chase, coz they just going to change direction, and you can only force them to go away from a loop.
To me, it's the signs of a pretty weak killer, who completely rely on other side's mistakes.

This thread isnt saying it "should" be .. I am asking when it "will" happen... because it is. It's in testing now and has been for some time.
Also, I am saying it should be though. Obviously slugging is an issue or they wouldnt even be floating an idea like this, let alone testing it for the live game.
There is a reason survivor queues are instant, and it isnt because "killers have it so hard"
there is some toxic, unfun gameplay happening and its getting remedied (kind of) slowly bit by bit.
Even if they tested it, they probably didn't recieve any good feedbacks. So it might even not happen at all.
My man, even if you don't like slugging, in some situations you just can't do anything but slug.
If you ever played killer, you know about scenarios when survivor getting down on a pallet, and there's another survivor near by, you just can't pick up this survivor, so what do you want the killer to do in such situations, just swallow it, pick up and get pallet stunned?
None of the game mechanics should end up in a hopless situation. This is why they removing blindness from a lockers btw.
Unhealthy (uncounterable) mechanics should not exist in any games. Even in Dead by Daylight.
-
The only thing I like about whole "Basekit mori and unbreakable" update is the idea of the "Last standing".
Other than that, feels horrid, unlogical (since it's only going to increase slugging), bad idea.
@Seraphor said:
Hopefully not.
The basekit unbreakable and mori changes didn't stop slugging where it counts. It promotes slugging for the 4K, but just makes slugging mid game less effective, which is where it's a viable tactic.
A much better option would be if basekit Unbreakable activated ONLY when ALL survivors were downed, allowing ONE survivor to pick themselves up. This would definitively prevent slugging for the 4K, because as soon as the last one goes down, the first one gets back up. Yet wouldn't negate the use of slugging one or two survivors when forced to due to circumstances, such as no hooks and Boil Over, or body blocking and flashlight save attempts.
Add to this the OPTION to use a finisher mori only on the last remaining survivor, and we're good.
Only if it works like this. Yes.
Or just add the "Last standing" mechanic. Thats it. No basekit mori's or unbreakables.

I was going to make a smart comment and say they should also introduce a gun that can kill the killer but after thinking about it, what you suggest would be nice if the devs made sure to balance the game around it all. Unfortunately, seems like BHVR has been stuck in a vicious cycle of releasing new mediocre content for the last several years.
New killers can only do so much, and now it's just the same old thing after a week of getting the same new killer over and over.
I disagree with things like crippling the killer. Killer should still be a fearsome thing to face, different ways to slow them down and maybe annoy them, but the core of the game is survivors running/hiding from the killer and that shouldn't change.
New killers and new survivors with new perks for every second month... Is ok...
But it doesn't actually making anything for a core survivors gameplay.=(
I mean... 6 years! For 6 years they didn't make anything new for a core survivor gameplay... I kinda felt bad.=(
Well ofc they'll need to adjust the balance, if it stuns for longer, it should be harder to pull off, etc. (You know)
