They used to, but not anymore.
As Killer you can literally see if they have dead hard or not by how they loop: they take too much risks, they greed the pallets and they usually relay on dead hard.
If dead hard gets nerfed to the ground I'm expecting a lot of 3000 hours survivors not being able tu survive for a while, which will make them create a thousand of posts saying "please nerf killers" and eventually they will nerf killers somehow.
If they greed loops because they have Dead Hard, and they don't have Dead Hard anymore, then
They just won't greed the loops.

Because some people did a bad like, three years ago regarding event items and now no amount of good behavior will ever change the perception.

Either way, calling strategical one additional life for no downside™ balanced is kinda meh.
It's not that Dead Hard is balanced, it's just the perception that it's some brainless automatic crutch.
There's plenty of good reasons to not like Dead Hard, man. You don't need to invent more.

It's funny you should call them bad when Dead Hard For Distance™ relies on them strategically routing correctly to a tile they know they can hit and then loop. DHFD isn't correcting a mistake, it's enabling a play they can make knowing they have Dead Hard, and there's a world of difference between the two.
Shut up, brainless perk, no strategy, SHUT UP

That's gonna require a fat negotiation with Konami, and quite frankly I'm afraid of invoking them for anything.

I'm still calling that it's only going to be 3 SBs from an unsafe gen to a good loop before a forum post gets made.

Yes. As I'm very sure you'll find out once Dead Hard is changed.

Nahhh, we'll be fine. Definitely.

I don't think it's For the People by itself. As a perk itself, it's not bad and isn't crazy strong, it's fine. The problem, and their main point, is the amount of second chance perk stacking that can be done. You can stack 5-6+ seconds chance perks in the span of 45-60 seconds and do it quite often. It sucks and it's unfun to have played well, better in fact then your opposition, and not only do you not get a reward for it, you actually get punished for it and could actually lose the match because of it. Not their skills, but of poorly balanced perks and game mechanics.

Oh really how exactly am I supposed to go for the now injured survivor when both of them have Dead Hard and it's in the shack with the pallet up. Also I didn't know the survivor had soul guard until I hit her. There's no counter whatsoever to that crap. I simply cannot get them no matter what I do.
Well luckily for you, you won't have to be worrying about much second chance stacking (or more urgently,t͖͖̠̬͛h̨͚͚͖ͯ̒̄͗͞ḛ̡̰̳͓̥ͬ͋ͪͧ v̹̹̘̼̞̻͆ͩ̓ͪ͢ḛ̡̰̳͓̥ͬ͋ͪͧṛ̣̬̫̍͌ͩ͟b͔͔̳͈̊̆ͥ͂͜͝o͙͙̙̘̙ͤͫ͞t͖͖̠̬͛ḛ̡̰̳͓̥ͬ͋ͪͧn̫̫̘̗͕̲̲̎ͥ p͔͔͚͉̬̋ͩ̾͗ḛ̡̰̳͓̥ͬ͋ͪͧṛ̣̬̫̍͌ͩ͟k̼̼̞̦̞̼̔) before too long, by all likelihood.
But Soul Guard and For the People is an actually kind of cool example of cross team perk synergy that requires teamwork and coordination to pull off, I'd really rather it stays.

I should have figured. I never played left 4 dead so I enjoyed back 4 blood. Don't worry I saw how inferior b4b is in every possible way. Shame for the fans :(.
There just wasn't any recreating something like L4D, unfortunately. It was a losing battle from the start.
Have you really never played L4D, though? The second one, I mean. There's no way it doesn't go on sale for like, $5 every other month.

The way it was used in this particular match was complete BS.
Yeah, dude, it actually had a concrete use case. And it still would've been completely useless if you went for the now-injured survivor with no protection
I've seen No Mither get used in dumb anti-slugging builds with flashlights to great effect, it's still a bad perk.

To clarify really quick, you do not need to escape to get a mask, you just need to survive until an exit is available. If you die heroically to save a teammate at the end of the match, you'll still get it.
The main reason why this exists is due to our learnings from past events. When we didn't require people to stay in the match, people would do their event objective and purposefully die as soon as possible (looking at you, pustula plants). Not a huge deal at first, but after a day or two of people throwing matches the game becomes really unenjoyable. So while it is unfortunate that this condition makes it a little harder, it's necessary to not destroy gameplay for the entire event.
Yeah, I don't think that was a major problem for previous events. I doubt it would be for an event with up to 6x bloodpoints.
And if these people who really want the cosmetics as fast as possible and are willing to throw the game are still around.. now they just have to go killer, grab an invitation, and AFK 'till everyone leaves.
People who don't want to play normal won't play normal if you reinforce one side with steel and the other with paper.

It was Dead by Esports, i remember that much and i believe this player was on team Agony..? before they merged with team oracle that is,
It was like a year or two ago when this happened,
Time to do some digging.

Funnily enough.. i don't play spirit but this one story reminded me, it also put a smile on my face,
There was a comp spirit player who was the best spirit NA or EU (Forgot the name but i'm sure other comp players know the name)
She was always so perfect with the phases like she read the survivor,
...Turns out she was hacking and had Walls even in phase to see the survivor..
It was kinda funny to see her get banned mid-tournament...
Do you know the name of the tournament, or some other players who participated in it?
Because that sounds hilarious and I need to see it.

The worst feeling is having someone DC on their first down and almost bringing the game back anyway, just so you can see that the game was completely winnable if it wasn't for someone's refusal to play Dead by Daylight.

So you indeed are trying to get the prestige rewards then.
Personally, I wouldn't make the effort. I'd wait till it comes out and then prestige to keep all my stuff, including flans/event items.
Probably, but OCD isn't taking any prisoners.

Your wording ######### my brain right now.
I guess you mean that you want to prestige them now so you can have the Prestige rewards once the update drops?
Don't worry, I barely understand it myself.
I'm trying to P3 characters in time for the update, but I'll get too many cakes to realistically use, which means I'll inevitably waste some getting my characters P3'd in time for the update that would let me keep my cakes.

I still object, mate. I don't demand for survivors to "roll over and die just because I say so", nor do I feel entitled to this achievment being handed to me for free. But when you get the snowball rolling on 3 gens and kill two of them, the others literally have no reasonable way out of this. Going and hiding into lockers at that point is only done to spite the killer, not because they want to maximize their BP. People even gloat about this and one commenter here even said that its "probably one of the funniest things in dbd". Thats the attitude we are dealing with, here.
And I wouldn't have minded or even considered making a post about this if it happend a couple of times, but its 16 times in a row. I realized by now that I was a bit naive with me estimate of a carefree environment during an event, but it still baffles me how often people willingly accept a hatch offering, yet no one seems to be able to stomach the loss of 5k BP at the advantage of another player from the enemy team, when everything is lost. 16 times is a big enough attempts that you would think that you could run into one of the "memeing SWF who are just in it for the fun" of legends, but I rarely got that much vitriol in the chat till I tried to tackle this.
But yeah, I learned my lesson. Again, thanks everyone for commenting.
You have to re-evaluate, dude.
You aren't going into this playing a full and compete game with a hatch thrown out as a courtesy at the cost of a thousand or two BP. You're playing Tombstone Meyers.
This means no evader, no altruism, and a game spent either holding M1, breaking line of sight, or being booted from the match. There is either no interaction, or a single interaction, that being instant death. You get no BP, almost certainly depip, and even if you don't die, you barely got to do anything. Most people understandably dread this match, and knowing you're going for an achievement doesn't make it any more enjoyable, if they even do know.
You haven't exactly started from a positive position of fun and goodwill, and they usually get a little chuffed when it happens, same as when survivors bring map offerings to a bad map. Being upset that they don't choose the death you want shows that, yes, you do kinda want them to not only know what you're doing, but expect them to give you something out of goodwill that frankly has to be assumed and isn't really returned.
None of us need an achievement.
-
As has been said many times, and will be said many more
Killers haven't exactly been going easy either. Everyone's going in hard this event.
-
Pretty quick, killer gaming during events is real.
-
I assume people heard "nerf" and literally could not jump ship faster if they tried.
Which I guess means we know who liked playing Spirit and who liked standing still.
-
I can most definitely assure you that it is business as usual for everyone about 95% of the time.
-
Here's my idea.
Remove overheat, let him put down the chainsaw instantly instead of waiting for the bar to slowly crawl down, and let him hold it at full charge and release with M1 instead of carefully juggling the charge bar while keeping tabs on every thing else around him.
-
@burt0r said:
They had and still have to find the perfect middle ground (and we all now bhvr speedy pace.... glacier).
Make it to easy and survivor want to leave a trial directly after like already said.
Make it only by escape and killer will try to deny at any cost.
But i also don't have a real answer for this problem. Maybe survivor only have to find the invite and in that respective trial make a certain amount of emblem progress combined from all 4 categries. I mean for example 40 points which could come like 40 in one category only or 20/10/10/0 or 10/10/10/10, to make it less restrictive.
And also make the time enduring count something as a distraction into the emblems and make those points the 80-90% threshold so killer can't deny them via camping.
I mean, up to 6x blood points is a pretty good incentive to stick around for trial.
That, and 12 cosmetics over the course of 2 weeks being easily, easily doable.
Probably wouldn't stop some people, but I'm sure we both know some people don't need an excuse to kill themselves on hook.

No it's not dumb advice at all.
There are usually too many survivors, making survivor wait times atrocious and screwing up the matchmaking.
The more playing killer the better.
And it really is easier to get masks as killer, I have 10/12 already.
No, it's dumb that that has to be advice.

Just play killer :)
This was a joke and not serious advice it really is dumb -

It’s not an excuse. It’s the reality of what the devs want. The players winning constantly have hundreds, possibly thousands of hours of gameplay. Even against really good Nurses. If a player decimates as Nurse it’s because they’re pretty good. Meaning you’re complaining about someone being good at the game. 😂
One trick is playing Nurse, not mastering Nurse. That’s what I did. Learn the basics of her blinks. If you play her consistently enough you’ll notice survivors always take you to specific locations where you might blink through the ground, or where you lunge into fire barrels. From there you learn how to deal with all of that, or give up playing her. As survivor I simply incorporated that knowledge the best way I can to escape chases with Nurses. There’s plenty of videos to watch to learn counter play as well.
What?
-
@WaveyTrey said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3005832#Comment_3005832
The point of The Killer is to create the experience that you’re up against a specific monster. In the case with the Nurse you experience what’s it’s like to deal with a “real” ghost. Appealing to the fickle multiplayer experience is always second. So no there won’t be any “fairness” against any “real” ghost. 😂
You don’t face nurses every day. On top of that you don’t face really good nurses every day. When you face a Nurse we either escape because the player is laughably bad, or we all die swiftly because the player is insanely good. People just wanna win more against the best ones as to brag.
Okay, I'm glad the only reason anyone has played this game for over 10 hours is your second priority.
-
@WaveyTrey said:
Complaining about how a ghost acts in a horror game which is to kill you by ignoring everything you have to use… Is like complaining about pepperoni on a pepperoni pizza…
DBD has multiple killers with “ghost” powers. The devs broke the powers into separate killers instead of one superpowered ghost. Wraith can turn invisible like a ghost. Spirit can phase out like a ghost, but she still has to move around physical things. Nurse is a true ghost like in the films. Phasing through whatever objects you try to use. “Real” ghosts don’t care about walls, doors, or whatever you try to use.
Nurse is amongst the only killers that provides the game with the feeling it should. Filling survivors (Players) with dread and hopelessness. That’s why her learning curve makes up for how OP she CAN be. People complain about good Nurses because they wanna brag about escaping/outplaying them more often. You aren’t meant to escape against really good nurses. It’s a freaking ghost!! It’ll get everyone.
It's almost like we're playing a versus multiplayer game where sides are meant to be given a fair shot at winning.
