This is exactly why I personally find killer less stressful.

On survivor I have 3 other people counting on me.

On killer I have 0 other people counting on me.

I can goof around and make mistakes and nobody suffers for it except me.

finding killer less stressful than survivor is a very unique viewpoint. It’s not one I’ve heard often at all.

I do find survivor more relaxing than killer. Unless the killer is absolutely trashing the team, when I’m playing I’ve always found survivor to be the more chill role since there times I’m just chilling on a gen chatting away while someone is looping the killer for a good while.

There are times I find survivor frustrating, but never stressful. How I feel I could have looped better or played a pallet better or bait better to make the chase longer for the benefit of the team before I go down.

Because ultrawide fov in this game would give a competitive advantage plain and simple. If you haven't already go into beta settings and set your fov to 103

how though? As I said before on console playing on big TVs the games screen accommodates it? What’s the difference with a PC player on an ultra wide monitor?

Also, ultra wide monitors I feel are becoming much more of a norm than ones that are not. Desktop players like myself typically I would say have ultra wide monitors these days. The only screens that wouldn’t be ultrawide is the laptop community like my brother.

There are games that are much more competitive and have real pro leagues and ranked competitive play modes that support ultra wide monitors.

DBD is not pressed as a competitive game, and it has no pro league. I understand the game IS VERY competitive, but I find the viewpoint you’ve made to be an outdated defence these days.

Ultra wide is going to become increasingly more common and curved ultra wide like I have. The game needs to modernise and adapt that.

it feels like it’s a defence from the stretched resolution days back when people used to abuse that.

  • if it’s a 4 man swf being toxic, then sometimes if I REALLY want to make them as miserable as me, I would tunnel as that really grinds their gears and forces them off gens since they typically then do everything in their power to save each other.

Typically though, I don’t tunnel. I play survivor a lot with my brother and I’ve been tunneled ,have seen people be tunneled etc and I know it’s actually just such a miserable experience.

I understand the effectiveness of tunnelling like it works, but don’t you just feel like such a horrible person? I do anyway hence why I avoid doing it even if it “costs” me the game.

Also it fires you up the MMR where you will get absolute sweat lords. Killer at the higher levels of play, unless you’re a solid A-S tier killer will have a HORRIBLE time in those lobbies and even then A tiers can have a horrible time.

  • like what was said, that doesn’t show much, given your input on the conversation who can be blamed for thinking you’re a salty survivor main?

Your contribution to the OPs post was nothing but an attack on killers players and the devs whilst showing a victim complex of the game not helping survivor players.

The maps were made smaller to help low mobility killers yes, some of the maps were simply too big. Red forest? You’d have games where you never even saw the killer. I’d just be on the gen either chatting away to my friends while one is being chased or bored holding the repair button. Not to mention it enforced camping for low mobility killers as well since they knew they’d never be able to pressure the map so tried to force survivors to come to them by camping.

The whole excitement of survivor gameplay is not sitting on a generator, it’s being chased. Sitting on a generator, while it can be relaxing just chilling, is boring. Smaller maps mean more intense matches, more killer pressure and the survivors need to put in more work to survive.

Strong loopers don’t really feel map changes anyway. Sometimes the tiles and loop spawns mean you can still solidly loop the killer for a long time if they don’t even change target. Like a shack spawn into a jungle gym etc.

Big maps enforced camping. While camping is still a problem, it is less of one since the maps were made smaller. It’s a step in the right direction for the health of the game.

Yeah, just another change in their arsenal to baby killers so they never have to actually think.

    Calm down survivor main.

  • and yet I still can’t find a game as killer lol the lobbies are taking ages

  • @Nazzzak said:

It is supposed to decay a bit but i don't believe to the point where you'd get new/baby survivors. You're still gonna face opponents with some experience, as you yourself still carry some experience despite your break.

We are supposed to be getting SBMM improvements at some point soon so hopefully they look at tightening the matchmaking up. It definitely needs it.

that’s fair, I don’t expect new players because I still have some knowledge of course even if I’m not playing great I know what perks to bring mostly. I agree being with new players would be unfair as well. Just has me feeling like okay this is a bit much you know? Hahaha

  • the survivors I’ve been facing have been trashing me as Vecna before the nerf. With the nerf, they’re just going to trash me harder. But the matches I’ve been getting I don’t think even Nurse could win the survivors have been THAT insane. The Gens are flying out of control every time.

I don’t think he needed the nerf, especially at the higher level of play, but here we are. They balance the game around the lower levels. It’s where the bulk of the player base is. It’s just an unfortunate truth we have to accept.

Like at least once you reach a certain level of MMR, also please make it visible behaviour, make the killers less nerfed. Honestly the survivors at the higher levels of play, and especially in a SWF which I also want them to make it shown at the end of the game if it’s a SWF or not are just next level crazy.

  • @Paternalpark said:

    Matchmaking is broken.

I've never seen my teammates do the stuff I've seen as killer.

    10-1 ratio survivor to killer.

yeah exactly this. Like as I said I do play killer more than survivor so I’m a better killer than survivor but never in my daysssssss have I had teammates like these. I can’t pull off the plays they do.

If I was a strong survivor like them and had teammates like them I’d be a survivor main all the time since it must be fun being that good at survivor.

  • @LeFennecFox said:

One of the largest tournaments for dbd has a free ladder service where you can 1v1 for ranking that has been blowing up. It's very easy to get practice in vs good players so that's probably a factor in you seeing more competent survivors. You need to play surv & killer in these, but if you want to get better that is the place.

I don’t have an interest myself in tournaments. I really do play for fun and not competitive. Vecna is my favourite killer since he reminds me of Baldurs gate which is one of my if not my favourite all time game. I know they’re the same universe so that enhances the connection.

Like when I’ve been playing Vecna I’ve been having a total blast like I haven’t in ages on this game I took a break for a while as well to add to the rust I haven’t played since the unknown came out.

Vecna brought me back and I’ve been playing for 2 weeks most days for a lot of time. I’m just shocked at how sweaty it’s gotten it’s so sudden. I wish I could see how or why it’s like this.

It is still very early to make bigger changes to The Knight. This was a quick change that could be done which will also have some impact.

Guards kicking gens has the least impact. Kicking gens with guards doesn't activate your gen perks like eruption COB etc. That was the weakest place to buff him and the buff itself was minuscule.

The guards suck in chase, take too long to activate and their auras are tiny. Not to mention like I said above they can also see where you're going to place the guard in the first place.

He has to be one of the worst killers in this game outside camping. It's his only strong suit

  • They don't balance the game around the top level of play. They balance around the mediocre terms of play.

It's why knight is so survivor friendly as he is. He's a good killer for the lower levels to contend with. He'll be one of the killers the new players figure out how to play against first like trapper is.

So his kill rate will be solid since he'll butcher the low ranks, thus the Devs will think he's in a solid spot but get trashed at the higher levels like more than half of the killer Roster.

It's why nurse isn't touched. She has the lowest kill rate in the game since at the low levels where no one can play her she's struggling super hard. But at the higher levels she's the dominant killer of the roster competing against the best of the best survivors and survivor swfs.

As long as he's not so bad even the newbies and bad players are taking him down easily they'll be content with him.

  • If you think you're being fat shamed you should see the knight. Oni is twice his size both length wise and width wise and I feel he fits through things easier than Knight. He's thicc af yet I feel knight gets fat shamed much more than him.

  • It's just such a good perk that's why it's still in the meta. There is no perk like Dead hard in the game. There's nothing to take its place.

The value you can get off of dead hard in comparison to all the other exhaustion perks is a million to one. The killer is forced to respect it. Otherwise you take the third health state hit and gain a sprint burst at the same time. Who would ever run sprint burst when getting dead hard gives you a sprint burst?

And since the killer is forced to respect dead hard you have those extra few crucial seconds to reach the pallet or window. Forcing the killer to attack and you get dead hard for the pallet drop or vault.

You can't abuse it to make it to windows as good as before, but you still control the chase that bit more since the killer is terrified of dead hard and you getting it.

I think windows is the biggest problem compared to dead hard atm. Information is power in DBD and windows gives so much information about where you can go and therefore extend the chase.

  • @Rovend said:

When i play soloQ I usually go with a 3-games test.

If these games are plagued with sweat comp nurses/spirit with 5 times my entire team playtime, or toxic killers like facecamping bubbas, or games doomed in 20sec by DC/killing on hook, i would stop playing for the week.

I would advise you to do the same.

That won't serve you well given your MMR doesn't decay so you'll be more rusty when you come back and the sweaty killers you face will still be there waiting for you.

  • Glad to hear it's not just me who's having my ears blasted with a guard summoned. Why the hell is it that loud? You can't hear anything except the agonising death of your hearing.

  • Honestly just from the thumbnail alone, I have never been so happy a killer could be bought with shards. I hadn't bought anything in the game or shrine with shards for ages. So when knight released I didn't have to spend any real money.

Best thing I've ever done. Thank god there is even an option to get him through the in-game currency than just real money like licensed killers. If I had to waste some of my actual money on him I would have been demanding a refund. Not to mention saying people HAD to pay for him with real money would have been the biggest slap in the face ever.

Like there's been terrible licensed killers come out where you had no choice but to buy them, "cough sadako cough* but knight just takes the cake this time on bad killer releases.

  • @Veinslay said:

The devs are done designing killers to do good at high level lol. They're gutting Nurse and Blight next patch and bringing in basekit UB next patch, watch

See they're not though. Wesker came out just before him and while he takes skill to play, he's very rewarding when you are good with him. And he can contest the top level. He's no nurse, but no one Is nurse. She literally defies the entire chase mechanic of the game. Wesker is good, who was before him dredge? Dredge is solid as well I think. They became two of my mains. But knight is just atrocious.

  • There's not much to say about him that's good tbh. He's honestly so bad it's ridiculous. He has to be one of the most survivor friendly killers they've ever released.

His power is not only awful, it's painful. You can't see the survivors but they can see you making the path, they can hear you making a path. The guards take too long to activate. since they can also hear and see you making a path on top of their activation the survivors are gone by the time you're done setting it up holding forward. They're slow af, they're dumb af. They get stuck all the time. They can see the guards auras as they're patrolling and the Path the guards are patrolling.

It's harder to do but they can also take the banner and get a speed boost and endurance.

The power is also clunky af. There's so many points where you're not allowed to use it. It takes a hot second to start channeling it and it feels like the orbs a drop-down than a spawn in with the camera angle. You can get stuck on things when you're trying make a path and on controller at least let me tell you, it can be f'ing hard to get out of being stuck in a wall or object.

He gets fat shamed at loops at times or in chase he can't fit through things. He's loud af as he stomps around.

He feels rushed for the Christmas sales and he's just obscenely weak overall. At the higher levels of play where swfs rule and survivors sweat non stop he literally gets nothing but hardcore stomped outside of camping. He's a good camper but that's it and that only goes to show how yet again, bad he is.

The only place he can be decent is at the lower ranks of play where most of the player base is. That can be the only place he can thrive. Where no one has a clue what's happening and are learning the game.

He CANNOT contest the top level of play in his current state. You might get the one game here or there if you're really lucky or the survs F up big time. But he genuinely can't compete with them.

  • As killer a 3k is a win 2 is a draw and survivor escaping in a win and dying is a loss according to the MMR.

So if you get 3 kills your MMR will rise and less it'll go down and if you're a survivor if you escape it rises but if you die it goes down and the more survivors that escape with you it goes up higher I believe.

Survivors in a weird situation because its meant to be a team but its also every man/woman for themselves at th same time.

  • Well I don't blame him tbh. This games community has to be one of the most toxic and sweatiest communities ever seen in a "casual game".

  • Wesker, Huntress, blight, nurse.

  • I think it's because of Sheva and Claire. It was only since Sheva came in as a new new survivor skin for her I noticed it because Sheva also gets completely wrecked by it.

Something like THAT should not happen to someone as gorgeous as Sheva I actually think they did her model really well until she spawns in looking like Vecna got to her.

Ada also has it. But that's the only 2 I've seen so far.

  • Apparently mine is ghost face at 8 the next is nemesis at 4. How I have ghost face at 8 I've no idea since I never play him anymore. I used to back a long time ago but I didn't think THAT much.

No wonder I took so many breaks from dbd with how bad he is.

  • Gay male and while I can't deny ada is a hot babe, I'm not hunting her down because of her dress. I'm hunting her down because she's really good and she's pissing me off

  • Tell me about it I wasn't on DBD for like 3 months? 4? But came back since Wesker came out and I heard Jill got a Sheva skin who was my fav character other than Leon from resident Evil and I was thrown, THROWN into insane sweat matches. Getting wrecked on killer and survivor right now.

I'm getting my bearings but trying to learn Wesker and relearn maps while facing the Uber sweats is a horrible experience right now.

Makes me learn really fast but good god.

  • He feels extremely clunky. His grab is ridiculously hard to hit and he takes an age to charge and uncharge his power. Vaulting the pallets also just feels terrible. Every time I get a hit in when I vault a pallet after them it's literally by the skin of my teeth.

    His add-ons are also terrible.

  • No one is saying the problem was solely dead hard and no not every survivor did use dead hard, but 80% of the survivor player base did. A whopping 80% used dead hard including me btw, and literally all my friends on dbd used dead hard. I've a friend who's an insane survivor and one of the biggest reasons he got away with so much BS in chase was, you guessed it, dead hard.

Now he's still strong without dead hard, but when it was there he would take about 3-4 minutes every time to go down unless the killer either had him in a deadzone, or really messed him over. But he'd spend most chases laughing during the chase as to how the killer couldn't get him. This makes him sound like a terrible person, but he's not he just knew how to abuse dead hard to the max.

Dead was not the sole issue, but Jesus was it a big one.

Are you seriously talking about realism of a perk in a Horror game? Take any other perk and it would make no sense. Entity with it's spikes, teleporting killers don't bother you, right? Oh wait, you profit from it, of course it doesn't.

It's not about realism, it's about game balance. And adding exhaustion condition to IW makes it totally useless for me and many other survivors. This is what makes no sense.

Its 75% and then gone when you're exhausted. It was broken and it needed the nerf. Also the killers are monsters if you haven't realised? Of course they have powers such as dredge and spirit.

  • @Jejune said:

If you wanted to nerf iron will. You could have made it so you get 100% quieter for 30 seconds everytime you get injured. (Amount gets reduced by 5 for everytime you go from healthy to injured)

Because now nobody will use iron will and on top of it they will have to rework spirit again.

No they won't, the initial reason spirit was nerfed because you had no idea if she was phasing. She had the standstill mindgame. And in phase you didn't know where she was in the chase. With her nerf and iron will the roles were reversed. Again unless you had cherry blossom, it was very hard for her to hear where you actually where in the chase.

The playing field has been made even. Now both of you know where each other are in the chase. And it doesn't get any fairer than that. Now it will be up to both of you to outplay the other. Not one side having the upper hand on the other. That my friend is balance. If you're taken down by spirit now it will be because she either outplayed you or you weren't in a good position, or you messed up. The way it should be. Not you having the upper hand with one perk.

  • No I think it's a good nerf. Especially when you're exhausted. It literally makes no sense in the slightest that when you're badly injured and then you're exhausted as well as injured that you're as silent as the night running around.

The amount of times the killer lost me just hiding behind something with iron will since Im making no sound in the slightest. You actually make more noise when you're healthy than when you're injured. It just didn't make any sense.

Not to mention poor spirit. The survivors took the standstill mindgame from her for themselves. Unless she was running cherry blossom and I didn't know it there's times she'd be going into phase and I just stood still and completely lost her. It was not balanced.

  • Ehm, no it's not actually. Because before in chase you had no idea where she was in the chase as the phase was omnidirectional whereas now you know exactly where she is mid chase. Over half her add-ons were nerfed. And you can tell that she's in phase whereas before she had the standstill mindgame.

The survivors actually took over the standstill mindgame from spirit with her nerf due to iron will. Unless she was running cherry blossom.

She's had a huge nerf and there's tons of counter play. This will help spirit that is true. But now's it's an even playing of hearing each other, not one side not having a clue where the other is at all.

  • Spirit eagerly awaits the nerf to iron will with massive anticipation

  • I think kids definitely play dbd, but don't put young adults of 18-25 out of your minds spectrum. I'm 23 and I've met a lot of teens who are 16-17 maybe even 15 doing work experience or seasonal work like Christmas staff in my job. We are a lot closer than you think. Not much changes between 15-25. Especially if you're from the UK and Ireland or North America. We are EXACTLY the same unless you're an old soul who's beyond mature for your age.

I had better and more mature conversations with a 17 year old girl still in school than guys and girls in their 20s like me to the point I thought she was 22 until she told me otherwise much to my shock.

Id also like to think I'm a very mature person, I often get told I am mature as well. Idk where your from, but I'm Irish and let me tell you from my experience young adults acting like total morons on a videogame end chat doesn't surprise me in the slightest.

And while I don't ever initiate a toxic exchange on a game, there are times when I do fire back and engage in it myself but only in response I just don't walk away sometimes. That **** isn't to do with age sometimes. It's just who they are as a person and it won't change regardless of age.

  • 100% especially with survivors being nerfed across the board.

Behaviour really underestimates the huge "us Vs them" mentality between survivor and killer mains. Each side is always going to try and give the finger to the other when they get the chance.

  • @Grandpa_Crack_Pipe said:

..down to 34 seconds with two people?

Where did you get those numbers? Last I checked the wiki, it drops the time from 47 seconds to 41.

True talent said on stream a gen with 2 survivors is 40 seconds and 40-%15 is 34 so 34 seconds

  • I hadn't played dbd for like 8 months and i had no idea it was reworked I got destroyed the first 6-7 times and hated it more than the OG. But now I'm coming back to grips I actually don't mind it. Especially on dredge

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

You should know that it will change:

Honestly, at least read your own threads instead of just opening them to complan and then never look at them again.

You must live here in the forum's do you? That was like a week ago

  • She needs some massive buffs that's for sure. She's absolutely terrible atm and dredge just pushed her back down the well as she was getting out and dropped the bucket on her head.

Survivors bully the hell out of her.

  • Try playing Dredge on RPD with the nightfall add-ons. To say I was terrified and jumped and screamed is an understatement.

Felt like a genuine horror game when nightfall was active going around the RPD station. Was as spooked as I was playing the actual game with Mr X

  • @[Deleted User] said:

    You call Sadako disaster? why

    Dredge is fun indeed

The first thing he did when he was taken by the entity was uppercut sadako back down the well tbh

  • Lithe and all the other exhaustion perks are definitely under used. I personally think overcome, the new one, is also good.

But Dead hard is just TOO good there's no reason to not run it. I personally think you are actually doing damage to the team not running dead hard. The insanely ridiculous plays and value you can gain off it compared to the other exhaustion perks, and the fact you can mess with the killers mind with that noise that you are hit the odd time adding to the strength of it. I was playing killer a while ago and I had a Kate at a pallet. she'd dead harded but she didn't have the dead hard animation. I thought I downed her as result since she screamed and slowed down and out played her. But Dead hard mixed with the scream and the fact It didn't animate at the pallet completely messed with my brain and she got away.

It's just too good, best perk in the game atm I think.

  • Yeah I have advice for playing trickster. Until they buff him? Don't. 🤣🤣🤣

  • Because it's now an almost certainly known fact, that if survivors keep DC'ing, then the killers get a nerf.

So survivor mains are doing it on purpose to get the Devs to nerf the killers and make it easier for them. It's a horrible, stupid, and childish strategy. But it actually works.

I have a friend who hates, HATES pinhead, and he's screaming for him to be nerfed. Every single time we face him, the literal second we spawn in and you hear that noise that's it's pinhead, he DCs.

He's doing it knowing and hoping that eventually, pinhead will be Nerfed over it. Making it easier for him.

  • The game NEEDS competition. Monopolies are never good for any consumers. It's the monopoly they have which is leading to the game being so lazily managed. It's also a factor to the poor balancing. Where else are we going to go for a game like this? There is nowhere to go.

Nearly 2022 and there has still not been any game like DBD to challenge it. That is appalling. We are all waiting for the next thing to challenge DBD because competition makes people work harder to be better than the other. Which in turn is better for consumers because they try to keep the consumer with new benefits.

The whole history of Europe is an example of why competition is so beneficial. Look at how fast Europe progressed compared to the rest of the world due to the insane competition between each other.

Who are the top 3 killers for you? I’m a pure killer main and (sadly) have made posts saying I’m quitting just to come back a day or so later. My top 3 are Huntress, Nemesis, and Trapper. I used to main Doctor before his rework.

Well at the top of the meta it's Nurse, blight then because of spirit's nerf and then yeah it's probably spirit still.

Spirit's nerf hit her really hard.i felt it at what I assume is high MMR, and as survivor I'm hitting her a lot. If she gets that dust nerf, she is absolutely dead.

However my personal favourite killers were Deathslinger, ikr? It's sad. Rip slinger man. Oni, and Spirit.

  • They all need help lol bar the top 3. Honestly I've been having such a breeze on survivor lately. Stomping killers non stop. The boon totem's and the dead hard buff are insanely good.

I swapped from killer main to survivor main. It's more boring, and I burn out fairly quickly, but I've been having way more fun as well if that makes sense? It's just SO relaxing. Friends come on, and it's even more chill. I just have regular conversations while running the killer around and they're stressed off the Earth with the gens flying.

I was against huntress yesterday on haddonfield in a SWF, she kept blowing out my boon and I just kept relighting it in the same place constantly. Everyone was just laughing in the party.

I did find the killer the more enjoyable role, but I can't deny just maining survivor is far more relaxing, calm, sociable, and easy.

So many killers are here on the forums screaming constantly. Either take a break which I did for a year, or become a survivor main. Don't let the poor balancing at the high levels affect your mental health which I know this game does for many people.

  • Yeah you'll never be back unless you cave lol. That's never going to be addressed.
