Please buff Billy to make him worthwhile to play as.

Billy is one of the hardest killers in the game but he is pretty meh killer since his massive nerf. Hard killers should strong at the same time (like Nurse, Blight) but why Billy is so bad? Am i right?

Comments

  • His base kit is really strong. His addons are a big meh. I claim Hillbilly as a main. I don't find him as hard as others say.

It's really a simple ability. Chainsaw moves you quick and instadowns. The end.

Oh. He's still strong as #########. You just have to have a stupidly insane feel for him and the game.

I think the argument should be. Make him easier to use somehow.

He is not strong anymore, he is outdated by new killers but yeah that doesnt mean he needs some love.

Now compare his power with other killers. You can see why he is least played free killer. Bubba's basekit is strong and his addons good, Blight's basekit strong and his addons good, Oni's basekit strong and his addons good but why Billy must be weaker at this point?

He's not. Do yourself a favor and watch GTvel. Billy is still probably top 5. The problem is. Most people arnt capable of using him to that level and having that deep of an understanding of the game and where people will be/how they'll move.

He should he easier to use somehow, yes. I just don't know how. Other then the obvious one of removing overheat

Buff him or make him easier like your said. Thats what Billy needs.

I am comparing his power to other killers. His base kit is strong compared to the rest of the killer cast; his addons are weak compared to the rest of the killer cast. In my opinion Hillbilly is underrated. Every time I read how difficult and terrible a killer he is, it makes me feel like an absolute mad lad the way teams fall before the saw.

He is under rated. All you need to do is watch GTVel play him to see what a Billy is capable of. The problem is. That level of play just may not be possible for most people. Including myself. He should be easier to use. I just don't know how.

Watch Hillbilly guides by content creators who played him at a high level. I don't know GTVel; there is a highly skilled Hillbilly Fog Whisperer named OhToFu who released the holy grail on Hillbilly years ago. Watch his guide.

From my point of view there are a couple of skill gaps: 1.) learning the muscle memory (feel) of the curve, 2.) learning the timing of his chainsaw sprint in relation to the distance the survivor has on you within a loop, and 3.) learning what environmental objects cause collision.

You'll be chainsawing at TL's in no time once you get the above down.

I dont think Billy's basekit strong as Blight or even Bubba. His basekit maybe stronger than Oni because i think Oni is overrated but his addons still worse than Oni's addons. Bubba doesnt have mobility but his chases million times better (and easier) than Billy against good survivors.

Watch vel. You'll understand. I'm just not capable of vels level of play, and that's fine.

I'm not bad at billy. But I can't play him in ways actual good Billy's can

I enjoy YouTube content creators above Twitch. Does this guy mostly plays double engravings? I am not a fan of those addons or content creators who only play them. If you are practicing Hillbilly using engravings and getting annihilated, that's pretty standard in my estimation.

Each engraving extends his already lengthy charge time (2.5 seconds) by 0.35 seconds each. A three plus second charge time is extremely punishing with pay off only against poorish survivors. My issue with engravings is the additional charge time eliminates a lot of opportunities for saws at certain tiles. It's oddly susceptible to holding w. Have you watched him enough to see him get wrecked? It's basically destroyed by tile hopping and not running the tile tightly.

The absolute leader in Hillbilly chainsaws is Battle Guy. Number One on the leaderboard by a wiiiiiide margin. He mostly plays double engravings as well. I have played against him quite a few times and the above works against him just like every other engraving Billy. (Not to do with the discussion but BG's main downfall as a streamer is a monotone voice. He's very robotic in his commentary. He doesn't get a lot of views I think for that reason.)

  • Billy being nerfed destroyed my will to learn how to play him.

I'm still salty that BHVR said "we are happy with the way Hillbilly performs" and then nerfed him in every way. All he needed was primer bulb and tuning guide to be looked at and changed. Instasaw was the only problem.

  • billy is a boring old design i don't see him working anymore no matter the buffs. you have bubba, oni, blight instead learn those they're much more fun, powerful and rewarding.

there are more important killers that need buffs rn (twins, deathslinger, sadako)

Just watched some of his content and just like almost all if not all billies, I see that amost every chainsaw could have been avoided if the survivors played smart, somehow people still hug loops against a billy, and no one is exploting the fact that dh cancels his sprint without hitting you, very inefficient plays on the survivors part, they should be able to force him to be an m1, but they make way to many mistakes on chase.

  • Here's my idea.

Remove overheat, let him put down the chainsaw instantly instead of waiting for the bar to slowly crawl down, and let him hold it at full charge and release with M1 instead of carefully juggling the charge bar while keeping tabs on every thing else around him.

  • Hillbilly is fine. He's top 5 if the player is somewhat competent with him, he's got ON COMMAND instadowns without having to earn them like myers or oni, a super strong chase power (curving) that if mastered can make any loop in the game unsafe, making him extremely difficult to loop safely, and the best mobility in the game with very few downsides. And on top of all of this, he's still 4.6m/s. He doesn't need basekit nerfs or anything but when nurse and blight and artist get nerfed, he'll be in top 3 without a doubt. You just haven't put in the time to learn him.

But that gets to the very heart of the problem: Why bother putting in the hundreds of hours necessary to master Billy if I can do what Billy can do (or better) on other killers with a fraction of the learning curve?

If you put in the time to learn Nurse, you are at least rewarded with the power to destroy 99% of the teams you come across. If you put in the time to learn Billy... you just get a worse version of Blight, or a more mobile Leatherface.

And then there's the whole problem where the vast majority of his add-ons are straight garbage (again, in comparison to Blight and Leatherface, who have a lot of add-ons that modify their powers in fun and engaging ways). Billy has Engravings and Lo-pro, with some niche builds utilizing Mother's Helpers, Tuned Carburetor, and Apex Muffler. Most everything else is either useless or training wheels. Nothing besides Engravings and Lo-pro are genuinely fun or transformative while also being viable.

Billy definitely needs some work. First, he needs to be easier to play. Second, he needs half an add-on pass. For example, one thing they could do is make his brown overheat add-on base-kit. Now Pighouse Gloves, Punctured Muffler, and Junkyard Air Filter can be reworked. Reduce the bump penalty at base by 12%, but add a stat to Engravings to increase the bump penalty by 6% on each; now they can redo Steel Toed Boots. Allow him to fully charge his chainsaw upon which either the sprint is initiated by pressing m1 or canceled with a short reholster time by pressing CTRL. Remove the bump penalty from Spiked Boots and make Dad's Boots have a separate effect. And finally, completely redo Iridescent Brick, Black Grease, Leafy Mash, Big Buckle, and Off-Brand Motor Oil.

11/20 of his add-ons have little to no effect and even some of the ones that do something tangible barely do anything at that; regardless of the discussion on how hard to play or good Billy is I think we can all agree: when it comes to his add-ons that's just unacceptable.

Are you really played him? I dont think so. A Billy player cant use his chainsaw against good survivors even with curve knowledge because counterplay for curves is just move right/left when he starts chainsaw. Plus he have a roar that just nerfs his curve capability. Mobility is good but when he gets an indoor map like Lerys or Midwich? Even on outdoor maps his chainsaw still bumps a bush or tree brench. Also also also his addons sucks he doesnt have a good addon (even engravings can counterable and they have a big downside) to use against good survivors. He is only top 5 against babies.

Oni has lot better mobility once he gets his power and one good use of his power and you can slug everyone. He is not overrated and some has done well with him even in comms but Oni also ofcourse needs buff to get his power easier as why nurse who has best power in game can have it all the time?

Oni's power is insanely good when active but problem is that Oni is worst m1 killer at the start of the game and when his power ends he becomes m1 killer again. Im not saying he is bad but he is not strong as used to be anymore especially with the boon perks, topknot nerf and shift+w meta.

I mean that's every killer and every chase. If the survivors played better. They wouldn't get hit. My point still stands. All you need to do is watch him and see what a Billy is capable of. Vel is very impressive

Not all killers tho, spirit/nurse and blight don't depend on the survivors making mistakes to shine, they depend on the killer player's output, you can get as good as you want with billy, any decent survivor wont be curved in any situation, that same survivor however can go toe to toe with those 3 killers above and the one who plays better will be the winner of the chase.
