The name "Skull Merchant" is associated to the lore, and is a name she adopted.

This isnt the first time a killers name doesnt really have anything to do with their power. In fact its quite common.

Is it? The only other killer I can think of whose name doesn't fit their power or design is trickster.

  • Good.

I know it sounds harsh, but there are plenty of other alternatives for slowdown if players feel like they need it. Pain res, DMS, jolt, overcharge, COB, deadlock, pop, merciless, gift of pain, plaything+pentimento, thana+dying light, even ruin is still pretty underrated when mixed with surveillance or undying. The Devs seem to finally be taking the game towards a place where gen slowdown doesn't need to rule the meta anymore, and that should be celebrated.

Maybe we can consider tweaking E-crutch-on back to being strong in the future, but I don't blame the Devs for taking the nuclear option to ensure eruption was out of the meta, kinda like old Legion. In its place, I'd be happy if Pop was buffed a bit. For the most part, Pop was healthy, it rewarded quick hooks and not camping. Eruption rewarded camping a 3-gen and slowly whittling away at the survivors until the servers shut down.

Honestly passive slowdown like pinhead would be better for BOTH because it actually makes people to chase MORE, thanks to prolonged game time.

Passive slowdown is awful to verse though and requires no skill by the killer, and usually carries bad players by slowing the game enough for them to tunnel out a survivor. Active slowdown like pig's traps (and I guess legion) is much better, we do not need another pinhead under any circumstances!

Congratulations, you've turned Bubba into a Billy that can't run.

Nice way to expose that you haven't played Bubba friendo. Does billy have unlimited turning in his chainsaw? Can billy control his chainsaw movement in any direction at any time, letting him moonwalk and mindgame? Does billy have addons that get wallhacks on survivors when charging his chainsaw, or give his saw built in Franklin's, or recharge his power to max like alchemist ring when he hits someone? He doesn't need multidowns.

Yeah, even if this is more an issue on Blight than Spirit.

For Spirit, IMO nerfing Mother Daughter Ring (should have been done long ago) and Dried Cherry Blossom is enough. I dont really understand how they thought that Dried Cherry Blossom was a good idea, if you are using this Add On, the game basically plays for you. And it is even more of a Joke if you think that MDR and Dried Cherry Blossom have the same Downside, which gets negated by the very strong effect of Cherry Blossom.

Regarding Blight, I think his Add Ons are just a big Joke. I just cannot understand how they do ANY Add On Nerf, but keep Alchemists Ring like it is. And I remember when they announced that some Killers will get Add On-Changes and everyone was running Alchemist Ring, because everyone knows that this Add On is just broken. Turns out, they buffed Adrenaline Vial from his worst Add On to one of the best, also broken.

IMO, those should be nerfed: Alchemist Ring, Adrenaline Vial, Compund 33, Blighted Crow, Blighted Rat.

IMO Blight is one Killer who really does not need Add Ons. Especially not some that are so strong.

Don't forget Iri tag, undetectable addon, pallet block addon since it got buffed, green and yellow turning and his wallhacks addon. Nobody talks about these but they're just as busted as his others.

Blight just needs a full addon rework honestly, make them good and more balanced like artists addons

Garden of Soy and The Game are back on the menu

Meat Plant is more killer sided than survivor sided. Garden honestly isn't even that unbalanced now that they nerfed the bush collision. There's massive deadzones in front of the house, to the side of the house, in the street, the treehouse is one giant deadzone... honestly all they need to do is just put a breakable wall on the left of the upstairs window, like the ironworks and creek walls, and the map is fine imo.

A match I had as Knight. Didn't have to camp. Didn't have to tunnel. The survivors only completed two gens, and they were not even bad survivors. I just applied an insurmountable amount of pressure to gens, and survivors. The chases ended quickly because of Knights anti-loop capabilities, and I kept forcing survivors to run into the same gens they were trying to complete or switch to - which is easier than other Killers because of the use of Guards. I didn't even take Nurses Calling this time. Been testing a combo with BBQ, Pain Res, and Shrine. When I hook a survivor on a Scourge Hook, the gen with the most progress explodes, losing progress, and making the survivor scream, because the scream animation makes the survivor stand up I see their Aura even through the Gens aura with BBQ - giving me a bit more value from BBQ, and then Monstrous Shrine forces survivors off gens faster to go make the save instead of waiting for the gen to finish before running to make the save.

The survivors could only complete 2 gens, and that was at the cost of a second hook state for whoever was on hook at the time. I am fairly certain all 4 survivors felt like if I wasn't on top of them - a guard was, and they could not spread out to pressure multiple gens at a time with so many distractions and chases constantly being brought to them.

This Killer is not weak. You just have to learn how to play him, and be good with Killer.

    THIS. So much this.

  • As mean as it sounds I'm happy pinhead isn't getting more skins. More skins = more players, more attention, and if your teammates aren't amazing his box literally wins the game for him if he is any degree of confident. I don't get why his box is completely passive when pig at least has to down someone and pop a gen first.

  • Nurse is fairer than huntress? Ehhhhh idk pal. Hitbox is pretty bad but definitely not as bad as nurse noclipping onto you with no counterplay.

  • @egg_ said:

Although the speed argument is fair if we compare him to other killers, considering that on release people didn't know how strong he actually was, nerfing the base movement speed would change almost nothing for him. It's his add-ons and his "techs" (bugs) that need to be looked into. His basekit is perfectly fine

What if we fix all his exploits (j flick, lag flick, hug tech, shoulder flick, 180 flick, moonrush), cap his maximum turn rate while attacking in rush to like 30-45°, and then make him 4.4m/s? I think that'd do miles of good to make him a bit more normal and less nurse tier.

  • Well I'll give them my appreciation when I see them. But my schedule seems pretty full of 4 slowdown tunneling blights nurses knights and pinheads so far.

  • What do you mean Huntress hitbox adjustments I haven't noticed a difference in her beachballs

I mean, she's performing very well and is pretty fun to verse and play as long as they aren't doing the boring slugging cheese. She's got insane mobility and stealth, pretty decent chase without being OP or oppressive with her flickering mindgames, crazy perk synergy with exposed, aura reading, slowdown and chase perks, and even has a passive slowdown mechanic that if not handled makes her able to kill someone who hasn't even been hooked! She's amazingly versatile and although she's a bit weaker when against the mythical 4 man tournament SWF that nobody ever sees, on almost all levels of play she's more than just okay, she's actually pretty dang strong! Even at high MMR (top 5%!) she's still one of the best killers statistically. And this is just anecdotal, but sadakos seem to do pretty well in my games.

I don't mean to be inflammatory, but part of me wonders if the reason why killer mains are so negative about her, putting her even as low as D tier, is just that they're used to antiloop killers with chase powers that practically win the chase for them or ignore key aspects of gameplay, such as nurse, blight, spirit, trickster, artist, nemesis, etc. Sadako actually requires skill to do well with as she is entirely macro game and relies on good chasing fundamentals and mindgames with her flickering and midchase teleports. If you're used to cheesing loops of course you won't do well with her, but with practice, I think she's WAY better than people give her credit for. And way more healthy and fun for the game than zoners like knight and artist or loop ignorers like nurse and blight.

What do you think? Are killers being too harsh? Or does her chase power being meh really overshadow her mobility, stealth, perk synergy, built in slowdown and potential to 0 hook kill survivors? All I'm saying is that I see why they're being careful before any changes to her are made, if they're even needed.

I just saw a iridiscent discount once the day they fvcked up it on halloween and gave tons of iris

Yeah but that was because they screwed up and were getting massive community backlash from the skins being AC only. Then people complained about the ridiculously high price of buying skins with shards, so they turned it down to 9000, which should honestly be the price for all purple skins.

  • I don't think there's ever been an iridescent shard sale sadly. Would cut into BHVR profit.

  • I think they've kinda stopped that realm beyond thing. As far as I can tell they can either do a map rework in the midchapter or do a new map in the chapter after, but they can't do both. I guess they're prioritising adding maps with chapters now, so we'll probably have to wait until the next paragraph or licensed chapter without a map.

  • I'm still used to the old timing so I can't tell if it's actually affecting me. Not sure I agree with the change though, I liked the skill curve of beamer saves.

  • @RainehDaze said:

I don't know if it's necessarily a buff, but she needs some sort of QoL pass on the actual teleport side of her powers. Super long cooldowns if you use them, facing away from the objectives, Survivors can create a huge deadzone if they care (and honestly, I only ever see them do that when there's a big open space between the gen they're working on and the TV) and don't want to just have you use them up yourself, etc.

And I really don't get why she has a lullaby.

Oh, and all the addons that are fixated on Survivors interacting with TVs, which they really don't. There needs to be more incentive to do that aside from the occasional teleport shutdown. Slugging and ring drawing tactics aren't a good way to have condemned come into play.

I wouldn't mind if they changed up condemned a little bit, because it's definitely the weakest part of her power, but I've seen so many people suggest outrageous buffs to it that honestly I wonder if it's worth the hassle. Like, people suggesting you should gain a stack of condemned after getting hit when sadako manifests, or that you get status effects like exhausted and exposed for having even a few condemned stacks, or the worst of all, letting her SEE your stacks and know when to TV-tunnel you out by spamming teleports when you're close to being condemned. It's a volatile mechanic.

Not so sure about the other aspects of her kit though. You buff her teleport cooldowns and not only does she instantly become incredibly oppressive and the best mobility killer in the game by far, but her ability to spam teleports to force condemned becomes almost unstoppable. And the lullaby is barely audible anyway over gen sounds, never understood why people make such a fuss over it. It's there because she enters stealth instantly with no cooldown of limitations, unlike ghostface, with no speed penalty, unlike pig, and has no loud sound cue, like wraith. She needs some limitation on it or she's the best stealth killer on top of all her other strengths.

  • @GoodBoyKaru said:

I will say the reason I was so drawn to Sadako is bevause she reminded me of 2018/2019 DBD. Before every killer became anti-loop no mobility (which is ironic considering I main Pyramid Head and have done since he first came out, who is anti-loop no mobility) I was a hardcore Wraith and Freddy main and absolutely loved the M1 killer gameplay loop.

And Sadako just... Reminds me of the good times. She's so fun and feels smooth to play and I adore everything about her kit, even if the TV cooldown could do with being reduced and swapped (A survivor turning off a TV shuts it down for 80 seconds, while teleporting shuts it down for 50). I have a massive list of buffs I'd give her just to be funny but they'd probably break the game (my attitude towards changes is that something can always be quickly toned down if it releases too strong, but it's better to have something be remembered for breaking the game than forgotten for mediocrity).

So, while I don't know if the reason is because of what you stated, the reason why I'm so drawn to playing her is because her design is so reminiscent of the good old days. And being able to shake off that M1 rust after so long of playing only small amounts of Wraith and Speed Limiter Bubba just to make sure I never forgot anything felt so, so good.

There's this too, yeah! I feel like the game is moving away from more traditional killers in favour of killers that just don't engage in looping, whether through zoning or get-hit/drop and get hit projectiles, or cheese like blight and nurse. Sure these are technically stronger than standard killers, but they're very repetitive, usually not too skill-intensive and aren't fun for anyone, especially zoning killers. I think the game should focus on more killers like billy, demo, bubba, myers, wesker - killers with chase powers, but chase powers that are interactive, fun and counterable, for the most part.

I hoped sadako and wesker would be a step back in the right direction after the nightmare of every killer from oni to sadako being an uninteractive antiloop killer without much counterplay if played right, but knight is like the culmination of everything awful with this design philosophy. :(

Time-limited cosmetics will never be available to buy with shards, it's official.

Who buys cosmetics with shards anyway

  • I doubt it. EA and there isn't really a main villain/main monster worthy of being a killer, unless they go the RE Resistance route and make the Marker a killer that controls ai necromorphs in a RTS mode. Plus main character has a helmet on all the time and wouldn't have any skin options/wouldn't work with lots of Morris.

  • @Pukenplag said:

Here's a perk concept that should never come

    One for All:

Your empathy is so strong that you are willing to sacrifice youself for the sake of others.

After fully healing and safely unhooking any survivor, this perk becomes active.

Once per trial, while One for All is active, press the active power button to give the endurance status effect to all survivors within 12 meters. The effect is cleansed for all other survivors once one goes in Deep Wounds by activating Endurance.

You become broken for 180/140/120 seconds after activating One for All.

Why would this be bad? Seems kinda weak honestly. Like the idea but like FTP you're just opening yourself up to be tunneled.

  • I really do not get why people are kicking up such a fuss about this. No-one's forcing you to buy them, you still get to keep Winter cosmetics post Winter if you own them, you can always wait until the next season to get them if you miss this year, and if it makes BHVR more money, good! Means they'll be able to buy more licenses and make more of this game that we love. I don't see the problem.

  • Killer main's worse nightmare, having fun

  • And this is a bad thing why? Knight dropping a guard instantly took no skill and had next to no counterplay if there wasn't a pallet immediately near the loop to run to. Seems like they're incenticising a more dynamic way to play him

  • A good fix would be making it so when the killer hooks someone they teleport to a hook far away so it's harder to camp. Like pyramid head's cages.

  • What's wrong with this? None of these scenarios ever happen anyway and it adds risk reward.

  • We don't need more flashlight nerfs. They're the weakest items in the game we don't need to coddle baby killers who can't figure out that they're being blinded.

In response to your question, care to answer mine first?

    1) What is the % of Blights you come across till now that use that addon

    2) Out of those Blights what is the % of Blights who can use it efficiently? guaranteeing a down 1st time

    3) When it was used efficiently, did the survivors know how to counter it or just stood around like deer in headlights waiting to give him the hit?

Blight needs the last lethal rush to instadown, if survivors don't make it difficult, the Blight deserves the down.

Just because something is powerful doesn't mean it needs to be taken out when only a handful of players can effectively use it and usage is negligible

Ah yes clearly god nurse and bully squads are balanced and fair because you don't see them very often. My mistake.

  • Whoever thought blight needed an instadown was doing too much blight serum. That addon has next to no counter if the blight knows how to use it, and desperately needs a nerf alongside like all of his others. I suggest that it should reduce his movement speed while rushing for each rush, like a reverse blighted crow so there's a little more nuance to it rather than "bump four times j flick and instadown"

In all fairness, "It doesn't fit in DBD" hardly stopped BHVR when they made:

    -AoT skins

    -PUBG skin

    -Toilet paper Dwight

    -Bunny Feng

    -Just Feng skins in general

    -Onesie skins

    -Trickster

I truly feel like BHVR does not pay much heed to that rule.

Oh no I don't mean they don't fit in DBD, I agree that's gone out the window recently. I mean as skins they don't fit many killers - it'd be another Minotaur and Hunk situation where you don't feel like you're playing a different character, you feel like you're playing the killer dressed up as that character. Like take the examples you mentioned in the OP, I don't think Vergil would fit Oni because Oni is a powerless killer until he absorbs people's blood and after entering his rage he dashes around at super speed and smashes people with a giant club which is like the very opposite of Vergil. Legion doesn't fit him either because Vergil isn't some super agile monkey that vaults over things and stabs you once before running off to someone else and going "AUGGHH" and chasing you as a powerless killer. Knight is a little better but even then they can't change the guards to be V's pets and it still doesn't incorporate his judgement cuts, teleportation, fighting style or abilities. There just aren't many good fits for him which is sad. Like I said closest is Spirit but even that's a stretch.

If I had to pick a non-horror skin collaboration I would like a Jacket skin for Legion. He fits the power's fast movement, brutality and combo focus to a T, and you could have the mixtapes each play a different Hotline Miami song as the chase theme. He'd also fit quite well in DBD I think even not being from a horror franchise. Only thing you'd have to do is remove his voice to be more accurate to the character, but with HUNK I guess they're not willing to do that.

  • As much as I'd love it I don't think the Sparda bros would be easy to fit in DBD. Vergil fits the killer role a lot better than Dante but he wouldn't really work as a legendary for any killer currently in the game without massive animation overhauls and lots of work, which they won't do for a single skin as shown in every prior legendary skin apart from Baba Yaga. Closest for him would be spirit cause of the katana and standing still to teleport and slash in the blink of an eye, but even that would require lots of animation work across spirit's entire animation set.

Dante however doesn't really fit either role. Seeing him be chased and killed by someone like legion or ghostface would be ridiculous and not fitting at all, and him being a killer feels very out of character. I think the closest you could do with him would be a Trickster skin, with Rebellion replacing the bat, and having him visually transform into his Devil Trigger form during Main Event. If they could change power appearances, replace the knives with Ebony and Ivory and it'd be very close to a perfect fit aesthetically.

BHVR being seemingly on good terms with Capcom makes me hope we'll see something about DMC in DBD at some point down the line, but I imagine it'd just be a charm and cosplay survivor skins. Having Dante Dwight and Lady cosplay Feng would honestly be worse than no DMC at all ngl

  • He has something like an 8 meter heartbeat radius in tier 2 so he's basically undetectable for most of the game. If he gets within 8m and you only get a warning then odds are you're gonna get hit anyway cause you don't have time to run. Worse still if he's got instadown ready from stalking a useless teammate and you get downed without anything you could have realistically done to avoid it.

  • I mean you are playing nurse. It's like kickin a hornet nest and crying that you got stung. Like you wouldn't expect people to roll over and compliment you if you played basement bubba or blight with slowdown or addons, or slugging twins. That's ridiculous, and nurse is the same way. Plus, you're running double recharge which makes nurse even more OP.

If you don't want to get called out for going on a power fantasy with the most busted toxic killer in the game and ruining 4 other people's games and wasting their time, maybe play someone else.

  • Nurse, blight, pinhead- nah, I'm kidding.

I'm always hesitant with direct buffs, not only because of the incredibly significant sweeping killer buffs a while back, but also because just because a killer is below average doesn't mean they're fun to play against, contrary to what many people seem to think. Take wraith. Back in All-Kill they gave wraith big buffs by increasing his windstorm to 1.25 seconds, increasing his base cloaked movespeed, and making him invisible from 16m away while cloaked. Since this made him very strong and extremely easy to play, he became meta in pubs overnight, and all the todci freddy doctor cannibal and spirit players at the time flocked to him. You'd fight a sweaty tunneling/camping wraith almost every single game. Think how often you see Wesker now, and imagine that with a wraith that could rush up uncloak and hit you from almost anywhere in a loop because of how long and forgiving the lunge windstorm was. It was stupid and miserable to fight, so much so that they nerfed him a while after. We don't want another wraith incident to happen again.

But to answer the question, I think the killers that could stand to be made stronger are trapper*, myers, onryo*, ghostie and maybe billy. I think most killers are in a good spot strength wise in the new meta shift patch, especially with the base killer buffs, or are good enough that they're not really worth buffing. Clown and pig for example aren't awesomely strong but they're definitely not bad in capable hands.

(* means use great caution when buffing as they are either not fun to fight or could make another wraith situation)

  • I don't agree. Ruin was hella annoying to verse every game, required next to no skill to use, works completely passively - just play the game and you'll get ruin value - stacked horribly with nurse, blight, spirit, pinhead, etc, and worse of all decimated solo q while barely touching people playing with friends. Bring old ruin back and enjoy even longer killer queues, and probably loads of killer nerfs when the kill rates rise to 75%.

Besides, there's a bunch of other slowdowns if you need them. Isn't COB, DMS, Corrupt, Deadlock, PGTW, Pentimento, Pain Res, Gift of Pain, Jolt, Overcharge and E-Crutch-On enough, especially with the base gen time increase and mini PGTW added to base along with the rest of the killer buffs?

  • Probably camped and tunneled too. Average nurse main

  • @Header said:

yeah but you do that and you suddenly enforce even more of a range recharge meta with her.

Yeah, but obviously range and recharge aren't going to be things anymore when her balance pass comes around. They're way, WAY too strong compared to all of her others on the strongest killer in the game. Having blinks be so readily available is dumb, plain and simple.

  • Strongest killer in the game? Idk I think nurse and blight are stronger than her. But it's just your opinion. I guess I never realised that it's kinda weird how you don't get a speed boost from plague. Bug maybe?

  • Exactly. No reason why it should be as fast as it is with how game breaking blinks are. They should make it like weskers charges, like 6-8 seconds per charge. Would actually give some penalty to missing her blinks.

  • I like the no traps within 12 metres change, but not a huge fan of the rest. Mending is the most boring type of slowdown, starting with all his traps means he can camp and lockdown really easily, the camouflage traps is ridiculous and way too strong and instadown for stepping into a trap is also way too powerful. He'd be a tier with these changes. No thanks

  • @Bardon said:

Yeah, the vast majority of Billy's addons got destroyed during the "We hate Billy" nerf.

Big Buckle would like to disagree 😎

  • A bug which killswitches nurse and blight for six months or more

  • Sadako worst killer?! Someone hasn't been keeping up with the stats. Even putting them aside she has everything needed to be strong - instant mapwide teleportation to gens, stealth she can activate at the drop of a hat (with a barely perceivable lullaby, allegedly, though I've never heard it in game) and exit in literal seconds with an unnoticeable movespeed penalty, spirit's passive phasing on command, making mindgames often result in free hits with no effort involved, and the entire condemned mechanic that can kill people at 0 hooks and force game slowdown if you're using the right addons. And on top of all of that, she's tiny and can't be seen over loops.

I think many killers just struggle to down survivors unless they have an antilloop power like nurse or blight so they see sadako's fairly meh antiloop and treat her as the worst killer in the game. Ridiculous if you ask me.
