Survivors have to get to the very endgame to take home the invitations, and killers haven't exactly been going easy either.

To each their own. You get the horror experience by playing viciously as killer and to avoid the killer as best as you can as survivor.
Both play styles lend themselves to victory.
Okay, yeah, we both agree on that. Survivors surviving and killers killing is well and good.
But can/will you not draw any distinction between hooking all your slugs and finishing the game, and having the full ability to do so, but refusing to and letting them bleed out because you want to waste their time and they can't stop you?
-
But yeah actually answering the post, it's been kind of hell.
My survivor matches have ended with us getting slaughtered with no hope of touching the gates.
It's hard to tell with my killer matches, since I only got to play two. One was a 2k with a very rusty Cenobite, and the second I can't really say because one of them started goofing after one person died and my clown nature took over.

Lmao I have an aura blocking meme build with Distortion, on Jeff. Sometimes it does come in handy for killers with aura reading add-ons. It gets you a pass for a moment or two then all your tokens are gone. Needs at least 2 more imo.
You definitely need some goofy way to earn more, 'cause like
90% of the time your tokens get burned, it was in a situation that wouldn't have mattered anyway.
-
Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmis it, though?
-
I wasn't entirely sold until I saw that Distortion.
-
Wait. Do you have to select the challenge to contribute to it? Do you not get a reward if you don't? If it's done and I haven't contributed, can I still get the reward after?
I wish I checked a little closer before I left the house for 12 hours, damnit.

I feel so bad for newer players. So much grinding to do. I've prestige all my survivors but still haven't maxed out all the perks for each charachter
I feel bad for new players in general.

I went from instant killer q to waiting 10+ minutes with an instant survivor q after the event started. How else do you explain it?
"Everyone being a mean doodoohead is actually a survivor main in disguise :)" isn't my first starting place.
-
You have no idea how much pain it puts me in when I can't keep my cakes on the character I want to prestige.
It's gonna feel wasteful no matter what I do.

@Zozzy said:
You mean the survivors flooding onto killer for easy challenge completion and points? yeah..

Toxic survivors? The survivors did it.
Toxic killers? The survivors did it.

I often stream a movie while playing DBD.
I enjoy DBD but I play it like its a horror movie, that's when the game really shines.
People play it like a horror movie for the first two digit hours of playtime, since they don't understand everything and the exposure hasn't worn down their fear.
After that, it's just a multiplayer game. And that's what almost everyone plays it as. I don't know how you play it like a horror movie without either throwing or playing with new players.
-
@FixTheArtist said:
Not to be rude but you could just play like 12 killer games and the event is basically over at that point. Then go back to playing like you Normally would. It's basically the same idea as doing dailies and tomes for characters you don't play
I can, but sometimes i'm just not in the mood for killer. Same as sometimes i'm not in the mood for survivor.
But the sheer disparity of ease in getting these cosmetics is gonna force me, because wow those last 7 survivor games were absolute hell and my OCD isn't going to stop bothering me until I have them all.
-
The second you take it off, you're gonna get tunneled every single game.
-
@Brokenbones said:
You don't need to survive, you just need to last until an exit gate is opened I think
I know it's kinda the same thing but you can last the whole game and then die in the endgame and still get it, happened to me once or twice
So far, every match i've played has never gotten to that point.
-
For all the people willing to relax for the event, there's always people more than happy to kick it up now that they have something they can deny you.

Define strong then because it sounds like strong killers are those who can catch and eliminate you but then the reply is Myers is annoying because he is strong and can eliminate you. Add to that anti loop is annoying, stacked slowdown is annoying, slugging and bleeding out is annoying, global effects and triggers like nightfall are annoying, anything that threatens players ability to progress the game as they please is apparently annoying.
Lets face it what people want is a strong killer that can’t actually prevent you from playing or eliminate you, in that scenario what makes the killer strong?
Then after all that you have to play fair because it’s not fun to be eliminated so there is one way to play which is largely detrimental to the killer objective.
So what is it about killers that people want to be strong because anything that’s strong appears to be unfair and annoying.
So you’d rather be afraid of the killer because he’s powerful and threatening… I don’t believe you.
Sounds like the “powerful” killer you want is as unthreatening as they come because there is zero game consequences to being caught.
I feel like you'd get more out of a movie, dude.

Well yeah. I value the theme over the pvp experience in this scenario.
Mainly because what people complain about is stuff that is kind of essential to the game.
Why are you trying to escape if the fog isn’t scary terrible place to be?
I mean, I'd rather be afraid of the killer because he's powerful and threatening instead of being afraid of the killer because the player behind it might waste my damn time for no reason so they can power trip.

I realise it’s in jest but even as a joke it kind of demonstrates that you’ve missed the point.
Hanging on hook isn’t the fun part it’s just part of the game. It’s survival horror not torture porn.
Trying to avoid getting caught is what’s thrilling, the more punishing the threat the more the thrill of avoiding it.
It’s why I miss old moris, mechanically they were problematic because being eliminated in 2 mins wasn’t great but the threat of being eliminated in 2 mins made those games more intense.
You really didn’t want to get caught so you tried really hard not to be. That made the game fun and exciting.
Sometimes you’d fail and it was punishing if you did but, Survival horror is punishing it’s not “try not to be inconvenienced horror”, its try and survive usually against all odds.
DBD is at its best when it emulates that. When it doesn’t it’s often a lacklustre game experience.
“you just like camping” is basically the gag you cooked up here but that’s just idiotic. Nobody likes being camped but it’s the threat of something like camping that motivates you to try and escape, without it the game is a just a mechanically dull points farm.
The gag was actually "you're willing to excuse some serious chicanery for the sake of The Thematics™", but sure.

So...you really see nothing wrong with facecamping someone out at 5gens or slugging people and bleeding them out with knockout?
Honestly no I don't. Its just gameplay. Thematically appropriate gameplay I might add.
Now I get why other people might say they don't enjoy it because like I said its a pvp game my version of fun may not be someone elses, but I play it for the survival horror experience and when I get that I really enjoy it.
Man, i'm gonna make a game where a killer chains you to a wall in their basement with no escape and comes down to kill you after 24 real hours so I can watch you enjoy the sheer thematically appropriate thrill.
It'll be the horror sequel to Desert Bus.

Also I'm really curious on why exactly you focus on that part of the event? Like is that REALLY the most important part? Not Behavior Interactive the giant company failing at implementing BASIC server side checks that,no,you cannot have 2 billion perks and bring cheated offerings?
What is there to say about it, dude? It's bad and they suck?
It's true, but it sure ain't gonna make people do it less or BHVR fix it any faster.
What is possible for a single-digit group of people to do is learn to avert negativity-enforcing behavior. That is to say, not say ludicrously cringy things to certifiable pricks who'd love to hear it.

Yes. It's 1AM and I'm salty that some little baby wants to cheat in DBD and waste my time.
You need to find better things to say when you're salty. Or just, like.. nothing.
I can 100% guarantee you made that person's day right there.
-
It's been a well-known fact that BHVR has a team of witches to lay a haunted castle's worth of curses on their tomes.

Okay, yeah, the guys cheating and bringing all this is absolutely a trash thing to do, but
"Your account is about to go byebye :)"
Really?

The box was slowly moving away.
Makes me wonder what the endgame screen looks like on a freecam. Hasn't someone done a Boundary Break on DbD?

camping has a clear definition and if you read the thread i provided the definition of camping in the context of video games. It BY DEFINITION is not camping unless you do not leave the hook at all. IME the vast majority of killers leave the hook. they dont just sit there. them returning to the hook later to check on the hooks area is NOT camping. Words have meanings.
and tunneling what the term is supposed to refer to is misused and applied to any consecutive down ime. 5 gen tunneling is also IME very rare.
Did you have anything constructive you wanted to add to the conversation or were you just giddy to try out a snarky comment?
As a matter of fact, I was, thank you for asking.
-
I can't imagine a lower-tier killer going against a fully kitted SWF. But then again, I can't imagine any other solo group going against a properly cracked Nurse, or Blight.
Can't really strike either of these down with the thunder of God. We kinda just have to balance everything else around it.
-
Do you have a guilty complex about camping or tunneling that requires you to define them out of existence to absolve yourself or something?
Yes, you are being camped and tunneled. Yes, you're allowed to do these things, no one is going to stop you. Yes, they're valid strategies and you can do them if you want to. No, they aren't fun to be on the receiving end of. Yes, if you do these things without the intention of winning, you're probably a prick.

Granted, I've only faced 1 so far and he didn't use remnants in chase, but I think you could bait it out and turn it against him, much like savvy people do against Artist.
It's undoubtably something you can play against (assuming there's a loop nearby), it's just a little boring gameplay wise.
He puts down the remnant, you leave. Much like Artist, neither of us are very enthralled by this process.
-
I enjoy him a lot.
The only thing that annoys me is the remnant and the "run away from the loop or die" gameplay we just keep getting with killers nowadays, but other than that, they did a fantastic job.

Of course it's fine.
Should it be changed to be used less aggressively? Probably.
But if it's the play to save your unhooking teammate in the moment, it's the play. At least it's used with altruism in mind.

It doesn't.
