This is kinda why I like playing as David when I'm feeling bad and Claudette (or Kate or Feng or Jane) when I'm not. As shirtless David, people wanna chase you less. Playing Blendette killers assume you'll be awful in chases then you can surprise them with knowing you shouldn't camp pallets or self care in a corner.

thats the problem, sometimes you literally cant because even if u are not in the line of possible hit you actually turned it still hits you, is stupid tbh, if the hit was fair because i literally got outplayed fine. but is not fair when they do hit you like curving the entire car in a way taht shouldnt be possible for example. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=epc57hSWQ8U
5:05 for example look at that curve u shouldnt be able to do such a thing. doesnt corner have a hitbox and also look from where he started, im not talking about the curve that naturally billy have tahts other stuf wich double space addons somehow allow plus cars not having hitboxes at corners.
then 4:40 look at those hits is bullshit imo. and there are way more. is like if billys chainsaw had the hitbox of a truck
This is available to, what, 2 killers? Billy and Demo? Imo it makes the game a whole lot more fun because its a game of "I can do this but do they know" or "Do they know they can do this". It's another layer of midngames, if they've been aying badly they might not know/be able to pull it off, but if they've been good all game they might be able to pull it off and get you. It's more skill being added to both sides, and makes these loops more fun.
Counters off the top of my head I thought of whilst cleaning my teeth:
-Drop pallets early
-Run to the short end of the loop instead of through the pallet first, particularly effective vs billy
-Use a different loop. Particularly on Hadham, there are plenty of pallets.
-
I'm gonna bring the blindness freddy addons instead every game. I'd love to see them use OoO thinking "haha we got him" then realise their mistake as soon as they step on a snare and realise I can see them perfectly but they can't see me at all :D
-
I like it, personally. It adds a whole new skill level to both sides- as killer, can you do it? As survivor, do you know about it and can you dodge it?

Contact dbd support (https://support.deadbydaylight.com/hc/en-us) and submit a ticket, preferably providing evidence of purchase.

Imo flashlights are easy to counter. As you said yourself the perk Lightborn exists just for this reason. Franklin's Demise also works. Alternatively you have the strategy of picking someone up facing a wall, pretending to pick up, or the hardest of them all, looking up.
When I see a 4 man Squadette with flashlights I jump for joy. Can't save your friends vs a slugging doc can you? It's so much nicer than a team that share three braincells and know how to hold m1.
There are plenty of ways to counter flashlights and limiting them not only decreases build creativity because you can't bring multiple of the same items, and just worldnt work (in solo q, say, you brought a flashlight but so did someone else, so who has to switch? Or you find a beamer in a chest but someone else has one in the match, does it just get thanosed into thin air?).
Flashlights are fine and much better than medkits, keys or toolboxes.

Childhood nickname + date of my birthday- as a kid I couldn't spell so I'd always spell Doodle as Doddle and now it's just kinda stuck. If I could change it I would, but at the same time it's kinda nice having this throwback to the past.

AFAIK this issue can be fixed by restarting your game. If that doesn't work, contact BHVR support (https://support.deadbydaylight.com/hc/en-us) and submit a ticket. You may need to provide proof of ownership/purchase (for example if you bought the dlc show you own that, or if you have Screenshots of you using them if you used cells attach those).

Flooding? Good one.
SWF is part of the game and has been for years. Don't want to face them, don't play the game, when it's a key aspect of it by now.

I have an assumption that BHVR earns on cheats in the game.
Therefore, it is not possible to realize the ability to play solo in a solo game.
Cheats? You know they actually do ban people right, so long as you supply proof?
Unless you mean voice chat? Which was confirmed not a cheat?
Also, lovely of you to assume that it's swf that are toxic- I've seen less "toxic" swf players than I have "toxic" solo players (I know this because I checked their profiles) as both killer and survivor.

I don't understand why that is important, or what it would change or accomplish. What problem would this solve, if Soldier 76 were literally 100% the same in every way, aside from what you are describing here?
Again, in my opinion, it feels like Soldier being gay was tacked on as an afterthought to his character for the sake of being gay. Had this been there in the beginning of the game, it wouldn't feel like that to me.

I don't understand how what you are describing would change anything.
IMO that would make it, to me, look like it was designed from that start. To me it feels more like a shoe-horn than a specific character design they went with from the start (if it was, I'm sorry, this is just in my opinion).

YASS QUEEN!
My rainbow gun is in the garage and I don't like pink, so that's all you're getting out of me.
In all seriousness, while I understand what you mean, the problem is that doing that reinforces the heteronormative "cliché", if you will. I quite enjoyed how they did it because, more often than not, that's how it happens.
I mean, that's fine. I, personally, thought it more like it was shoe-horned in instead of it having been thought of from the start.
Can I please see the rainbow gun though? Just once?

Not that this is an Overwatch forum, but what would have been materially different about Soldier 76's design or character portrayal if this had been specified from the start?
Honestly I'm not exactly into Overwatch, but I think that him being gay was shown through a video at Blizzcon? Instead of having that video shown when it was, well after the game and his release, have that have just been part of the video explaining his backstory. It doesn't even have to be so super obvious in your face, change the design, bright pink magical unicorn, just something along the lines of showing Soldier giving his bf a peck on the cheeck, or even a hug. That, imo, would've been better (but Orion thought that the way they handled it was better, so all props to them).
-
I think this is usually something wrong on your end. Validate the files through steam (and if that doesn't work, re-install).
From previous EAC experience, it could be a peripheral causing issues. I know it despises RGB lighting, so if there's an option to disable that for DBD that might work.
Also, no, EAC only kicks you out.

I wouldn't. I also wouldn't assume he wasn't because I genuinely don't give a #########.
You're right, it is prevalent, but that doesn't mean he was "made gay". When I came out to my mom as bisexual, I didn't "become bisexual". I always was, and then I told her about it.
I'm sorry, I should have worded myself better. It's 3am right now lol.
If you're going to have a character be LGBTQ+, the best way to do it is to have that in mind from the start, and have it written into their character from the start. Be it explicit or implicit, it's part of them and so should be there. Otherwise it looks like you're just shoehorning in LGBTQ+ for the sake of it, and not having a fully-fledged character that was designed from the start. Must they be flamboyant, don bright pink, scream "YASS QUEEN" every three seconds and shoot people with rainbows? No, but having something is nice, so it makes people feel like they were always meant to be included and not something done for PR.
I agree he wasn't "made gay"- it's biological. That doesn't mean something from the start wouldn't have been nice, so that everyone would've been included from the get-go.
For the record, I have nothing against Soldier being gay.
-
David has to be bi- I don't care. He has a female ex but he is too much of an icon to be anything else.
Claudette seems like she'd be ace.
Daddy Trapper is definitely gay.

That's the right way to go about it. There's no such thing as "hints" that someone is gay. LGBT people are just people, they come in all shapes and sizes.
I'm well aware- but they took issue that there was nothing. Nothing for a year. Then just gay. If you're going to make a character gay, do it from the start.
-
I mean, if I remember correctly people were pretty pissed at Soldier because Blizzard basically gave no hints and was just like "lol look we have a gay".
I'm all for it, but hopefully they do it right.
Also, was a new thread needed to add to the 23 we already have?
Edit: Not to sound rude but, like, could you read the other things that I've posted in this thread too? Instead of commenting the same thing someone else did that I already responded to?
-
You get a flat 1500 survival points- you could die in less than a second after the animation and you still get those 1.5k points. Combining it with DS (example the deliverance-ds combo) and escaping as the obsession guarantees 8k survival points.
-
Gee I'm so glad we needed a fourth thread on this topic.
I like this decision provided they do it correctly. Being able to imagine a character as gay (David may have had a female ex but he will always be a gay icon in my heart) and having a character canonically confirmed as LGBTQ+ is completely different. One is based on your own personal opinions and experiences, one is definitive canon.
Provided new characters are created, and they don't suddenly change people's backstories (or, if they subtly reference it like "Ace's boyfriend always told him to stop gambling" instead of "Ace was gay- he knew that" and their lore is nothing but "gay gay gay") then I have absolutely no issue with it. If they do it wrong, well- no different to a lot of other companies (hey Marvel how you doing?).

It’s not just a me problem. I’ve read many forums here and on other places where many people companied of this. And I’m unsure if y’all should be taking your research from the def streamers considering they also told us we’d get better matchmaking this year.
Also to address your point here- they said in their most recent Anniversary Stream (also check out Fibi's summary of that one too; don't want to double ping someone) that it would be coming, in their words, "next month". This was said in May. Therefore we can infer it's coming this month, June, the month after May. Considering how we're not even half way through the year, they have plenty of time to add in the new system while following the guidelines of "this year">
-
My internet is shockingly bad yet somehow can hold a stable enough connection, even if it is as 600 ping depsite being connected to close servers (i think, the players in my lobby were also british & I solo q so thats my guess). The DC penalty has vasly improved my matches and the only time it's really affected me is when I've been kicked because EAC doesn't like shiny RGB colours on peripherals. That's happened once since DC penalties were introduced. Once. The other times I've DCed were because I was frustrated and they fulfilled their job of making me stop playing, calm down, marry Shane in Stardew Valley- you know, the usual.
According to the dev QnA From Home Stream (not the one coming up, the most recent one) that me and @Fibijean both did a summary of, DC penalties have dropped by between 35% and 50% whilst hook suicide rates have remained relatively unaffected.
These penalties do their job. They should remain.
In the system requirements on Steam it says a "Broadband Internet Connection" is required. Source:
If you can't meet the minimum requirements, either don't play, or don't complain when things don't work.

Why tho?
It isn't the killer fault for him being stuck.
Anyways I think this is griefing, so the killer should be reported
It's the killers fault for not smacking and slugging and/or re-hooking the survivor, as re-hooking fixes the glitch and at least if slugged the team can help. Also, the killer admitted they were trying to be as much of an ass as possible.

Yes I read it, and I read your op. It doesnt say "i knew you were stuck, I wanted to be toxic." You had tge SS and still got the quote wrong (either on purpose or by accident, either way).
If you got something as simple as that wrong how are we supposed to know you didnt get something else wrong? You say he knew where hatch was, how do you know that? As far as "bm" goes, is that even reportable? You said yourself he didnt hold tge game hostage because he did close the hatch (which we can see from the screenshot). So if JUST bm is reportable does that mean I can report every tbag and finger point I see? Can I report every killer that uses me as a meat pinata?
As far as dancing in circles, thats not bm. Tf else is he supposed to do while waiting out the timer? I dance with survivors all the time at the exit gates waiting for them to leave. Tgeres nothing else to do 🤷♂️
I dont know this dude, Im not defending him, im pointing out that you might be overreacting, at least from my perspective thats how it looks
In OPs defence the original post was made before he had access to the screenshot- it says in the first post with it in "My friend actually got a screenshot of it, didn't know." which, correct me if I'm wrong here, suggests OP didn't know this screenshot existed until it was shared with him and then posted on the thread after it's creation.

I've sank 1.2k hours on PC and 300 hours on Switch into DBD. I've spent so much money on this game. I've met friends, strengthened friendships, had laughs, had romance, all because of people I've met through playing this game (for example I met a streamer and ended up becoming great friends with one of his regulars). This game still brings me joy, on both sides of the coin, and recently I upgraded my pc (which, btw, rainbow ram, I love it) just to play this game better.
Don't tell people to quit because you're not having fun. If you want to leave, fine, go for it. Don't ruin everyone else's experience because yours is sub-optimal.
Oh, also, rank 1 wraith without add-ons is actually really fun, give it a shot :p

This is technically towards both of you but for different reasons:
Good news is that David is confirmed to have a female ex in his archives. In Memory 342 it says "His ex has moved on and she doesn't want to see his face."
The bad news is that I don't care about canon and he will always be a gay icon in my heart.

Yeah, exactly. Like let's say (for the sake of argument) that they bucket perks into four categories per side, one to coincide with each emblem. So for survivor you have: Objectives, Survival, Altruism, and Boldness. And for killer you have: Deviousness, Sacrifice, Brutality, and Hunting.
How would you categorize, say, Bond? Or Adrenaline? Or Decisive Strike? No matter how you did it, people would go IT BELONGS IN A DIFFERENT CATEGORY! And look at how I divvied up the categories, too -- people would argue that's not the best way to do it, no matter what kinds of categories Behaviour settled on. It would just result in a system that there are endless arguments about. And if you limited perk selection based on category (like no more than 2 perks of a given category or whatever), people would complain about the limitations.
I'd say have it something like mobile for categories- they can fit into multiple categories, and then you're allowed say 2 perks from each category. For example, the available survivor categories are Navigation, Strategy, Perception, Support, Safeguard, Adaption, and Concealment. Perks like Iron Will would go into Adaption and Concealment, and Dead Hard fits into Navigation and Adaptation. We're Gonna Live Forever is in Support only, and Premonition is only in Perception. So you could run a build of Dead Hard, Iron Will, We're Gonna Live Forever, and Premonition, however using Urban Evasion, Fixated, Iron Will, and Deliverance wouldn't work since 3 out of the 4 perks are in Concealment.
I'm not saying I agree, but this could be a way for them to do it.

Well, to make it equal then, keys should also only work if each survivor repaired the equivalent of a whole gen. that way the survivors wouldn´t be able to just hide all game and they would aactually have to ouskill the killer in repairing before they just escape through the hatch.
Yeah I'd be down for that change.

On a pessimistic note, remember how much times we had "this month" when the dedicated servers were worked on?
On a positive note, the tests they've been running behind the scenes for this algorithm (not being used in matchmaking yet) are proving "very positive", unlike the servers which are still a shitshow.

We’ve observed a growing Community concern about matchmaking in recent months. Matchmaking wait times have exceeded our targeted limits and we’ve seen rank disparities fluctuate. In this Status Update, we will go in details on factors impacting the matchmaking, our current matchmaking system and our future solutions.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/793/ZSC8B6CPRDCP.png
Above are the three variable factors in matchmaking, with a fourth being the number of players on each role, with an ideal ratio of 4 survivors for 1 killer at all times. When dealing with matchmaking, we need to decide how much to focus on each of the factors. If we focus on one point, the other points will see some sort of impact. For example, if we focus on time, your matches will likely end up being less fair, and you might get paired with people further away. Dedicated servers have helped us ensure a stable connection, with over 90% of players being put into matches with 150 ping and under. Our goal is to get you into a match as quickly as possible with a good connection, without compromising too much on fairness.
This is a difficult task in a game like Dead by Daylight, where both sides have different objectives and cannot be directly compared to one another. We’ve attempted to address this in the past with the Emblem system, but upon further review, we’ve concluded that rank does not directly correlate to skill. While a player who plays a lot will tend to be better than someone who plays very little, there are also players who are good at the game but don’t play enough to reach the upper ranks.
To help improve with the fairness factor without sacrificing wait times or pings, we will be making two changes. The first is a new system to better reflect a player’s skill level, and the second is a change to the matchmaking system to create fairer matches.
Going forward, we will use a hidden skill rating for matchmaking purposes. Your skill rating will increase when you do well and decrease when you do poorly. To keep this as fair as possible, the system will predict the outcome of the match based on the difference in your opponent(s) rating and adjust the amount your rating changes:
- If your rating is higher than your opponent(s), your rating will increase less if you win and drop more if you lose.
- If your rating is lower than your opponent(s), your rating will increase more if you win and drop less if you lose.
This way, even if you aren’t perfectly matched with people of the exact same skill level, your rating will not change unfairly.
In the future, we would like to extend this system to support different ratings for each killer, allowing you to practice a new killer without being immediately matched against high skilled players. This may not be included in the initial launch of the feature.
Additionally, to make sure that your matches are as fair as possible, we will be switching over to “batch matchmaking”.
Currently, our matchmaking system takes the player in queue and looks for a match close to their rank. If it is unable to find an appropriate match, it will gradually expand the search range until it is able to give you a match. This can lead to both unfair matches and long queue times.
The new batch matchmaking will instead pool a larger number of players together, compare their skill levels, and then create the fairest matches possible simultaneously. With a larger pool to pick from, we hope to improve the fairness factor of matchmaking while also keeping pings and wait times low.
The release of these changes will be gradual. With the release of the mid-chapter update, we are able to start tracking skill levels. For the time being, this is only a test and is not being used for matchmaking purposes. Once we are confident that the skill rating is working as intended, we will be running tests on live servers.
When this happens, you may notice some disparity in ranks during your matches. This is to be expected as rank will no longer be used for matchmaking purposes at this time. To avoid confusion, we are considering removing ranks from the post-match scoreboard once testing is complete, as they will no longer be relevant to matchmaking. Ranks will remain visible only to you for bragging rights and a goal to work towards, but will be a reflection of your dedication to the game rather than skill for the time being.
We are confident that these changes will allow us to create fairer matches without losing sight of our goals; to get you into a match as soon as possible with a solid connection. We’ll be sure to keep you posted on our progress as we move forward.
Devs said it would be coming this Month
-
The devs said they would be looking at the current kill:survive ratio and then would re-adjust maps if needed. For example, if a loop or map is particularly strong (cough Mothers Dwelling cough) then they would change it. This could be through adding breakable walls or strengthening/weakening loops.
-
Saving someone with Head On, be it through a grasp escape or just giving them more time at a loop by stunning the killer.
Or just hitting Head On stuns tbh.
-
As survivor, I think Inner Strength. Its just such a good perk.
As killer, I think Surge. Its definitely underrated and when combined with surveillance it's actually dirty. I love those two together.

The fun part about the game for me is survivor-killer interaction, be it through chases, mindgames, getting scared by James or Mikey, or getting that wonderful Head On stun. There's also chasing a survivor, the thrill of finally killing that one person who's just been out of your grasp all match, or of outplaying someone at a loop- basically what makes the game fun for me is interaction and giving everyone a chance to play as best as they can.
If that isn't fun for you, experement. Try out new things, find something you enjoy, and stick to it. Don't like anything someone says or does in-game change what's fun.
-
@Demogordon_Ramsay said:
Rework, you say? Hmm...
No One Left Behind: For every Survivor that escapes the trial before you do, gain a token. Each token grants a bonus 5000 Altruism bloodpoints at the end of the trial.
Increases the speed at which you heal dying Survivors by 30/40/50%.
With this one, do you mean they get 5k extra points on top of what they have already or would this max out at the 8k cap?
-
Sorry but no, I'd hate this change. You're put into the dying state whenever you're on the shoulder of the killer, and you chose to risk the chance of being grabbed. This is fine as it is, particuarly with the state grabs are in right now.
-
Open Handed:
All survivors within a 6m/8m/10m range also see any auras you do. If a survivor sees an aura whilst you are within a 10m radius, you also see the aura.

I meant it as a joke, but I use head on a lot so I know that it can save games and teammates without a doubt. But honestly it sounds like that team you were facing were pretty bad.
-
Remember when enduring 3 reduced Head On stun time? I sure do- you could stun the killer and get grabbed while leaving the locker after their stun animation; I propose we don't go back to that time, please. Don't do this to my poor Head On.
-
Excuse me, what are you trying to say with Head On not being there? I feel personally attacked
-
I hit 98% and honestly I'll take that- only one I got wrong was current amount of survivor items in the game.
-
Yeah- no, sorry, gonna have to disagree. Because killers and survivors are fundamentally different roles in practically every way other than "They play dead by daylight" then their perks are going to be incredibly different in most cases, so they don't need an "equivalent" perk. They can have perks rivalling it's strength, without a doubt, but they don't need perks that basically are just the opposite of each other.
For example, no need to have a perk that slows gen repair speeds by 15% when working with another survivor, or that decreases healing speeds and medkit effeciancy by 33% (yeah I know sloppy slows healing and overwhelming increases charge consumption rate)
