I mean, there are also quite a few god pallets on the map. Huntress and slinger die, I agree, but hag spirit and Nurse have a field day. Freddy just wins instantly, stealth killers love it (usually), Billy isn't that bad- overall I really like it actually. As survivor I've escaped a couple times and as killer I've killed them all a couple times and others they've escaped.
If you're having a massive issue I suggest you use the strategy of find a floor and stick to it. Only defend gens on that floor. Usually easier on the bottom since there are like 4 ways of going upstairs.

Someone hacked the flashlight into a regular game and just dropped it next to Monto during his stream the other day.
Then I sure hope they got reported :)

Thank you so much! Im loving the dbd community so far and the game!
I'm glad you're loving the community to far; please do your best to retain this love for as long as possible :)
People are pretty awful here but there are quite a few positives too.

Forgive me for bumping this but can someone please quote me in 6 months time on this to see if its correct or not since I'm very interested in it.

Thanks, mate 😊 I found the questions okay myself, but you're right in that there weren't any huge breakthroughs in the information given, aside from that the anniversary events start next Tuesday, which was the most exciting part for me. It might also be that this was a particularly short stream, so it didn't necessarily feel as full-bodied as some of the past streams have.
The good news about the anniversary is
a) I'm very, incredibly hyped
b) If you go into custom games (idk if you know this so sorry if you do) you can actually see the new items and they look awesome!
-
The thing with corrupt is that it's guaranteed 2 minutes of time. For set-up killers, that can win you games. For others, it forces people to hide for 2 minutes, or forces them into you. You get easy gen locks, or they've wasted 2 minutes doing no generators.
-
Still gotta thank you for doing this- your format imo is better than the other post (no shade I promise). Shame the questions here weren't as interesting as the last couple of QnAs.
-
Been here coming up 3 years now, still love this game. Bought every dlc (except bubba because for some reason I got him with cells lol), too many cosmetics, and absolutely plan to spend more.
Welcome to dbd - enjoy your stay.
And join me in worshiping David King :p

I agree spirit was a mistake gameplay wise lol.
Op, I think The Entity just yeeted Steve along for the ride, like he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. We know that's what happened with Claudette and Bennedict Baker and most other survivors.

All I'm gonna say is if they can derank to lower than 16 that's some pretty obvious hacks since devs removed that option ages ago.

I'm talking about cases where there's no sight of other survivors, no scratch marks, no groans of pain... absolutely no reason other than the killer is mad/bad that they stay near the hook. Come on now.
So people don't show up on BBQ, or you know someone was near because surveillance just went on and off again while you've got ruin equpiied- there are too many factors to consider.
Also, camping gets punished by holding M1. If it's that much of an issue for you, then run Kindred. That's what perks exist for- to cover up your weak points and counter things you have an issue with. Hate camping? BT/Kindred/DS. Hate Spirit? Iron Will. Hate Trapper? Small game. Hate useless solo teammates who can't hit skillchecks? Use Inner Strength to heal yourself easily.

Name a fix? Entity progression slows up to 90%, based on killer's proximity to the hooked survivor. There you go.
@GoshJosh said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1363880#Comment_1363880
The only way this can be "abused" is if the killer decides to stay next to the hook! LOL!
So if a killer is chasing a survivor near a hook? The survivor is just invincible are they?
Tried, tested, abused by swf. Try again.
-
They've said many times facecamping is a strategy that if you want to employ, they won't ban you. Plus, name a fix that wouldn't be incredibly exploitable, I'll wait.
This tip was added because it'd very prevalent on movile, maybe because they don't know better, maybe because it's free to play so more trolls exist than normal.
Also, this isn't anything like a hostage situation. You die in 2 minutes and survivors can take the risk to save you.

Tier 1 and 2 would be weak compared to tier 3, but that is how perks should be. Tier 1 would have it so discordance only activates if all 4 survivors are on the gen, with tier 3 having it activate if 2-4 survivors are on the gen.
Which is what I thought, again making T1 and T2 useless on anyone but high mobility killers, since gens would be done before they could get to them
-
@GodNap said:
@Doddle28 i think @Wubalubadubdub03's idea is great. A first noise notification for when it becomes yellow and then stays yellow as long as there are 4/3/2 survivors on the gen.
Which makes tier 1 and 2 practically useless on any low mobility killer since from their wording of the perk it seems to only activate with 4/3/2 people on the gen in the first place.
-
The developers have commented on this. People prefer T3 and people prefer T1- I myself am more of a T3 person because I can't focus on too many things at once, so hearing the noise every 8 seconds messes me up big time). Swapping them now would feel like a slap in the face to everyone.
If we could choose what tier perk we want to run after having unlocked the same tiers normally (ie owning T3 Discordance now would let you pick between T1, T2, or T3, but owning T2 would let you use T2 and T1 only), that'd be the best of both worlds imo.
Obviously that would take ages & need a complete overhaul of the perk system's code, though, so I'm doubtful that would happen.

Poblems with Mettle of man (bugs with protection hits):
- Protection hits of an injuerd survivor 10m away doesn't always work.
Changes to unerf it a bit (apply one or several):
- Increase protection hit distance to 15 meters
- Getting hit while unhooking should be a protection hit.
- Make it unnecesary to go into de dying state to be able to use mettle of man again (maybe you can change it to a 60s cooldown)
Changes that would make it OP and should not be applied:
- Reduce necessary protection hits to 2.
Unhooking a survivor does count as a protection hit, or else you wouldn't get stacks for WGLF when doing so.

How many games have you gone into where there is 15 survivors and not just 4? This doesnt say hit survivors 15 times, it says hit 15 survivors.
I think this means the same thing. Like with the challenges in level 2 and 3 it would say "Start a chase with 20 different survivors".

To be honest i didnt even care about half of these, and i am a trapper main so i can just trap some places that can makes it easier, not all the time but yeah
That doesn't change the fact these maps were nerfed. This change was absolutely huge to most, if not all, M1 killers.
-
Personally I enjoy it. It's a good mix of unsafe pallets and god pallets, and despite the fact it being indoor makes it killer-sided by nature the difficulty acending and decensing means you can often commit to gens even if the killer knows you're there.
Flashiing lights means there's a gen there btw.

Almost all god-loops stayed, they only removed a few pallets
Which god-loops stayed?
-Ironworks was nerfed
-Rancid Abattoir was nerfed
-Storehouse was nerfed
-Coal Tower was nerfed
-Suffocation Pit was nerfed
-Shop was nerfed
-Cowshed was nerfed (but is arguably still very strong)
-Rotten Fields was shrunk (not a god-loop but still)
-Thompson House was nerfed
-Torment Creek was nerfed
-Grim Pantry was nerfed
-Temple was shrunk (drastically)
-Ormond was nerfed
So what remained was Disturbed Ward (due to time constraints), Yamaoka (which doesn't have a god-loop but needs a change), and Haddonfield.
EDIT: Oh, and Mother's Dwelling. Please shrink this map.
-
Okay so from my (admittedly, limited) experience, stalking is not what you really want to be doing most of the time. Stick on his power recharge add-ons and go to town by having 0 terror radius on demand.
Build-wise, STBFL is glorious. He's an M1 killer and the ability to one-shot (as bad as it may be) to only lose 2 stacks on your obsession makes it so worth it. Thrilling Tremours too, is a great tracking perk and helps slow gens (but I'd still suggest BBQ over it imo). I'd replace Infectious Fright with Discordance tbh, but since Infectious Fright is practically a win con in and of itself then if you want to keep it, go for it. Haunted Grounds I'd replace with Pop Goes The Weasel, mainly because PGTW is imo the best killer perk currently in the game.
For other perks you could consider, A Nurse's Calling is godly, Whispers is decent, and Enduring is helpful but not exactly needed.

But can you see now days? that BHVR says that if the trapper can reopen a trap is a buff? or that CLown dont get slowed down is a buff? They arent even giving us good perks with new chapters
They also nerfed god-loops (rightly) into oblivion, shrunk map sizes, neutered DS (then un-neutered it but not quite to it's old state), buffed Plague massively by letting her use her power (like, I kid you not, that once fountain makes so much difference), got some niche but good perks in the form of Nemesis, Dead Mans Switch (sometimes), Deathbound, got buffs to clown (just ask @DudeDelicious how much that one buff has helped him). They've now given us a killer to bypass a lot of perks in the game and may shake up the meta a bit.
Yeah, I'd say they're doing very well in helping killers.

Well going back a full year. We got great perks with plague, every killer except maybe deathslinger has been a really good killer, maps got slightly better, gens got slightly nerfed, toolboxes got kinda nerfed but not really, doc got an amazing buff and that's about it but yeah still more to be done
Let's also not forget the map changes. Those were massive pros for killers.

Response was more to highlight the issues with relying on metrics in such a subjective gameplay experience. Escapes vs kills is about as poor a measure as I can think of and none of the others are going to give you a real clear picture of balance either.
The vast majority of perks are balanced with solo queue in mind. Take Spine Chill, for example. If one person runs it, that's fine in solo queue and the perk works as intended. If the survivor can say to his 3 friends, "the killer is looking at me" then all four survivors effectively run Spine Chill. All of the recon perks that have a built in pro/con have their con invalidated and all of the crutch perk cons of requiring specific triggers are minimized. Because you can just tell your friends. You don't need an Excel spreadsheet to know that's busted.
You might be able to use raw data to convince yourself that's not a problem, no attention necessary, which is apparently the dev MO. But you tell me - is a long chase more positive than a short one? Is a short game a better experience than a long one? Every one of those metrics you provided have a giant "it depends" asterisk in terms of determining "is this healthy or unhealthy."
I don't know how the devs will measure with the MMR system. Nobody but them do, that's the point of it being a hidden MMR system. Those were some guesses my caffeine-addicted brain could come up with whilst writing that comment over the course of a minute. I'm sure BHVR have given it much more thought.
And again, community feedback is also taken into account, not just raw stats.
-
I mean, whatever works for you lol. I couldn't find myself enjoying that type of build, but that's the joy of perks.

At least u cuz even when they are potatos the OWN game gets a hell by itself, pallet hits that came from nowhere, GENRUSHING that is a thing that bhvr dont even have a clue how to deal with (And i think that they arent even trying), also other stuff like the ######### swf that is a fun remover. After a long time playing this game, BHVR seems to care less and less for the killer fun
"After a long time playing this game, BHVR seems to care less and less for the killer fun"
I have particular issue with this statement. Killer currently is one of the easiest it's ever been, and they're still getting buffed (insert nurse joke here). BHVR seems to care for the fun of the killers more than ever.
You're telling me that when they cared more when they made pallet stuns with nurse mid-blink still count as proper stuns, or when they removed the timing for pallet and flashlight saves?
-
Commenting because I wanna know the answer to this too lol.
In terms of your build, I'd say do so regardless just because Boil Over is a sub-par perk at the best of times unless you're in an indoor map.
-
Sounds were fixed?

@Danu said:

No prob, thanks for the clarification.
Judging by stats though that would suggest that those type of squads are so few and far between that they don't even skew results? I'm just worried for how they'd ever go about balancing swf for all swf types without really taking away from the casual swf experience. Maybe base any debuffs for swf on higher ranked players only? Of course this could only work with the new mmr system hopefully but its the only fair way i can think of to address it
Issues then arise of having sweatted and then trying to play casual, but not being able to because you're being penalised though.
The only real way is to buff solos to SWF information level (bhvr please add a totem counter i'm begging you) and then give killers the superbuff to match all superbuffs.
-
I'd assume it's because a flashlight they have the excuse of closing their eyes as they get blinded. With the firecracker it's sudden (and they have no spatial awareness).

The game is fun and playable IMO and I enjoy playing as killer and survivor (usually, sometimes solo can be a bit cumbersome).
For every past killer nerf there's a present survivor nerf (except nurse, she didn't deserve that). I'm sure I could think of 5 things more unfortuantely that choosing to play killer:
-Dying
-Your family dying
-Being kidnapped
-The world imploding and it being all your fault.
-Becoming a criminal mastermind only to have to hurt your friends because they're trying to save you then you go and apologise to them but they shank you and you and them have an epic long battle that ends when one of you are dead.
-Getting a chronic illness.

Oh and just saying I am not trying to come off as crying or anything just was a bit confused. I gave it a try and nothing but I play on the switch and then read it does not work on console. I figured they just left us out but maybe they will fix it at sometime. Either way it is just a charm granted a cool one but I have so many charms already. lol
From what I heard for switch, select Pyramid head as your killer, then go back to the main menu and go:
[d-pad] Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, A, B, Plus
But it could still be bugged, idk. Since it's different (A, B not B, A) that could be the issue.
-
AFAIK this is a bug and is meant to work on console (since the dataminders found code for it to work with controllers too).

Are people really so delusional that they think BHVR is lying about SWF stats? SWF gives you communication, it doesn't make you good at the game. A group of mediocre players will still be mediocre in SWF, just slightly less so (9%, according to the released stats). Are there god squads that will absolutely demolish every killer in the game? Sure. But they're not strong because of an inherent advantage in SWF, they're strong because they're a group of 4 smart players that would be just as competent in solo queue. And even then, they're rare: I can count on my hands the amount of times I've gone against a god squad, and I've been consistent rank 1 for almost 2 years now. If you think you're getting demolished by a group of SWF every other game, you're just not very good at killer. Play objectives, learn to drop chases at the right time, identify your win conditions. In other words, git gud.
Considering your name I never thought I'd say this, but I agree lol.
Updated my main post to make it clearer what I meant.
