  • Let’s talk about hex baby

    lets talk you and me

let’s go all about all the good things

and the bad things that may be

younger forums members will have no clue WTH this is

  • I know in the past the very last character was getting cut off for me

  • I’ve had the exact thought many times.

  • @ThiccBudhha said:

Yes, that would prevent them from cucking my Barbecue and Chili. Never again will I suffer with 3 stacks.

what a sick sad world so choked in survivor selfishness.

Stop being toxic towards his suggestion. The perk is not fine, it is toxic. And calling words overused is also a form of toxicity. That is a triple whammy for you, good sir.

I feel shamed and defeated. I shall stick my nose in the corner. Well played.

Finally after literally two years of playing this game, I finally got the damn Archive Challenge "Six Feet Under" (sacrifice four survivors in the basement) completed!!!!

The last killer archive I needed to complete to have all the killer side ones done (still need to work on the survivor ones but sooooo many damn "get 4 pallet hits in one game" challenges :,(

I had come really close in a game a few months ago but the last survivor wiggled out of my grasp when I was on the staircase going down and the damn hatch appeared in the killer shack, probably to mock me.

Wouldn't have expected M1 Ghostface to be the one who got me my basement murders but beggers can't be choosers...

Well done. I’m sure you are purely elated after such a long time. It’s not always easy but you persevered. Respect.

I find it funny you did it with ghost face though.

  • You lost me at the word toxic. The word itself is over-used and not properly at that. Other than that, the perk itself is fine.

  • Eh. Not really. Maybe if you could set rules like each perk can only go to one survivor then I’d bite.

  • If you were a PS user I would say look me up and I would play spirit whenever you want but I’m not that good with her. Lol.

  • @GannTM said:

She’s too rare in my survivor games. It’s such a shame because she’s an incredibly fun killer that is fair to play against and is a strong killer. Why is she getting close to Billy’s level of rarity despite still being strong and fun?

Send me an awesome headset and I will play her every third killer game. I’m a cheap ass.

  • I’ve been letting survivors escape when they arent total ######### sweat fests. It’s ridiculous

That feeling I know all too well.

I remember when I lost my last remaining Splinter when I prestiged Freddy...That was devastating.

I’ve still got several splinters on killers i never prestiged. I won’t prestige them either because of it.

It's been almost 4 years and far too many hours, but I'm sorry to say that I'm not finding any enjoyment in DBD anymore. I realized it when I started panicking when I thought about queuing up as Killer and that when I found myself dreading playing Survivor. I have two friends who still play DBD (Survivor-only) and they'll probably get me to play with them. But I think I'm done playing on my own. For my own sanity, this is sort of my goodbye post. I'm not leaving the Forums or anything, I like a lot of you too much, but I don't think I can play the game regularly anymore.

I have....mixed feelings about the game. On the one hand, it has incredible potential. On the other, it will never ever reach that potential. The company behind the game (not saying Devs because I don't think they have any say in what actually gets worked on) has shown that they are all about monetization. This was made most clear in the NFT incident in 2021. The game has always been a revolving door of players. Until that changes (and eventually they will run out of players), there is zero incentive for the potential of this game to be realized. This can also be seen in the broken promise of 60 FPS on Xbox One and PS4. BHVR promised and it kept players playing and buying cosmetics and Chapters. That's clearly all they care about. Their absolute refusal to answer one way or the other about Console Optimization speaks volumes.

I think my biggest issue with this game is that what's fun for one side usually makes the other side feel like #########. To illustrate my point, I'll literally copy this post

    https://www.reddit.com/r/deadbydaylight/comments/60j6se/hi_im_a_dead_by_daylight_player_and_psychologist/

"Concept 1: Humiliation DbD's gameplay is centered on humiliating your adversary. I would argue that every aspect of the gameplay is an act of humiliation, not competition, like you see in other games. The reward-based outcomes combined with asymmetric gameplay makes DbD uniquely painful to emotionally process both your losses AND wins. Let's look at the various aspects of gameplay:

    Killer Humiliates

    1. Frustrates a survivor's ability to contribute to their team (social humiliation)
    2. Frustrates a survivor's ability to level up and earn points (reward-denial humiliation)
    3. Frustrates a survivor's ability to appear competent in front of their survivor peers (mild self-esteem humiliation)

    Survivor Humiliates

    1. Frustrates a killer's ability to appear competitive and threatening in the game environment (social)
    2. Frustrates a killer's ability to level up and earn points (reward-denial humiliation)
    3. Humiliates the killer in post-game chat, something that while survivors aren't immune to, but have group social support resources to easily heal from (severe self-esteem humiliation)

Concept 2: Rollercoaster of Emotional Injury If a killer wins, but doesn't win "right" (camping, some glitch, lag, etc) they are deprived of their celebration by the survivors (survivor decides whether killers can celebrate, another humiliation). If a survivor wins, but everyone doesn't survive, the sacrificed survivor is deprived of joining in the celebration (the killer can take this opportunity to humiliate them). Through all of this, both player sides undergo extreme stress.

    Killer Stress

Killers experience states of stress throughout the game: trying to find survivors, being evaded by survivors, losing track of survivors, and protecting hooks from survivor saves. Killers, at no point, have any moment of emotional peace or sense of "safety" from these states. The emotional injury ALWAYS ramps up in post-game end chat, and at the gate, where killers are ritualistically humiliated by twerking/circling/various taunts.

    Survivor Stress

Survivors experience states of stress, too, with waves of calm: hiding, peacefully working on gens with their peers, being in the terror radius, evading, and being on the hook. Successful evasion and successful hides are followed by positive feelings of calm, while being chased is stressful, and being caught, hooked, and killed is a very substantial, large loss. A hooked survivor has disappointed their team, lost a huge amount of point potential, and been humiliated by the killer. Watch streamer facial expressions change when they realize they cannot be rescued and are dead, after a long match. There is pain in their face."

I've stuck with this game through thick and thin. I've watched as the 20 friends I had playing DBD dwindled to only 2. I can't keep playing a game that makes me feel worse for playing it. I don't even remember the last time I had fun playing this game. At best, it was "not horrible." I found myself talking to my remaining friends (and a party of 6 other players) about the success of DBD. Someone jokingly said they "hope it fails" and I found, rather disturbingly, that I agreed with them and so did the others. I don't know why I harbor that feeling, but it can't be good.

In short, I can't continue to play a game that routinely makes me feel worse and I can't continue to financially support a company that throws their weight behind NFT's and demonstrates they don't care about their playerbase past their wallets.

So, DBD, this is mostly goodbye (until my friends guilt me into playing SWF with them). It's been an interesting ride.

You’ve been a positive voice on the forums. It’s sad, but understandable, to see you go. I hope things improve for you. Life certainly has an ebb and flow to it.

Hey, don't make me feel old, I am already depressed enough :D

I started off before the first Warcraft with a game called Siege that had a similar premise to Warcraft. Don’t feel old. Old school game to play: Dark Legions - total classic

I still remember sitting at my computer playing Warcraft, summoning spiders in front of a line of orc spearman watching the human knights fall dead. Warcraft 2 was the best in the series in my opinion. The ogre magi will always hold a special place.

back then, BBSs were popular. You’d dial in and play games like Legend of the Red Dragon or Trade Wars 2002. It was the closest you got to playing with other ppl online other than turn based, play by email games like VGA Planets. Things have changed so much.

  • I would love to be able to. I wish more games were like that for consoles.

  • Blight. He runs me down like a prisoner after a 20 year lockdown released into a brothel with a pocket of viagra.

  • I like playing against Billy and bubba with tinkerer. It certainly keeps you more aware once you get ambushed

yeah because screw lil timmy who just wants to play with his friends

Yeah, screw Timmy. Tommy wants a good round too.

  • Top two Swf ideas:

    1.) get rid of them

2.) limit to two friend teams

  • It’s definitely annoying and hindering as a survivor. It has potential.

You killer mains have lost my respect

I don't mind losing something that has no value.

    Ouch.

    heh

  • Ppl get angry vs’ing billy. I’ve been trying to learn him and I’ve had a lot of dc’s, mostly those first chainsaw downs.

  • Just practice until your muscle memory kicks back in. Huntress aims and throw feels will return. I’ve never had much luck with demo.

  • I love playing against a good Hag. I used to main her when I first started playing 3 or 4 years ago. I can’t really play her well anymore but I occasionally get a great game as her. One of my favorite plays was as a hag.

playing on a corn map and I had trapped the perimeter around the center shack. I was using a stealth build that included insidious. I was forcing a survivor out of the shack area after hitting them. As they left the shack, another survivor set off a trap about 15 meters outside the shack straight out of the doorway. It just so happened, i teleported, stopped, lost TR, and the survivor I hit had not realized their teammate set off that trap due to corn and as they stared behind themselves, I downed them. It was a merry time. It took about 4 or 5 seconds.

  • Well…

… I guess I should go cut my hair now.

  • I was playing as Billy the other day and thought I heard it for a few seconds after a chainsaw down. It was confusing. 😅

  • I typically do well with Nemesis. He doesn’t need a rework. He may need some love but no where near a rework.

So when ever I go up to a chest I see a brown med-kit or toolbox full charge by the way and I'm wondering why do people just ignore them they may not do much but they still do alot better then repairing or healing by hand.

I generally don’t open a chest unless I’m running an item build for the fun of it or if I’m in bad shape. If I see a brown item I usually grab it because you never know when it might help.

  • you see what happens when he leaves the basement? Ppl lose their #########. Get him back down there

No that was the Sear’s catalog. You burn this one for warmth during the lonely killer’s winter.

That was the first episode of Futurama I ever saw. I still remember being ten years old, sleeping over at my friends' house and watching Adult Swim all night for the first time.

Wow. I forgot how young some of the player base is here. Really, some of you just remind me how old I am.

  • I thought you were referencing D&D alignment charts for perks. Lol. I’m too old. Started playing first edition when I was a young teen. Some things just stick with you I guess.

  • I love playing against that Myers build because it’s such a difference from normal play but, yeah, I see a lot of survivors DC on it. It used to stress me out a couple of years ago. I hardly see it used anymore though.

  • It was obvious that Boons had potential to be problematic from the start. CoH is rough in most games as killer

  • Parasite Eve came out about 23 years ago give or take a couple of years. The game was based off the fact that our mitochondria have different dna than we do and that the dna can be traced back to 1 of 7 women from Africa. Eve is a terrific monster. You should look it up sometime. This is, of course, if I’m remembering correctly but I could be wrong easily enough.

    I do.

Lol. I thought you did but I haven’t seen one in a while

  • This will sound stupid but have you tried the perk blood echo? It cuts down on some of the DHs.

  • Give Quentin his old face back. Reminded me of a friend I had 30 years ago. Ugly as hell but reliable. Freddy does need something too

  • the forums can be tiring. It’s not necessarily the opinions on the game (though frustrating they can be) that bother me but the observations of some members on how they see the world. Everyone will have their own beliefs and that’s amazing but you cannot spread peace with a sword or truth with ignorant thoughts.

in this age, we have access to so much yet somehow we find more lies.

I hope we can all lay down our burdens one day.

Been playing 7 days to die more with the boys and spending less time with DBD and the forums so yeah I feel good in general.

You liking it? Always wondered about it myself.

  • One click? One second minimum drain. You clicked it 15 times? 15 seconds gone. Easy enough.

  • I’ve never been very good with her. I think partially because I play on a tv with no headphones. She can be satisfying to play but I am lacking something when I play her. Maybe awareness? Been learning Billy lately. He’s fun. Might try spirit a bit more when I get done with him.

I'll start by saying that I'm not trying to throw any shade here. People come and go over the years, and I really don't expect anyone to catch every single thread we've responded to or remember every time we've answered something. I'm willing to bet there's a good chunk of people who weren't even around last time we talked about it, but we have indeed brushed upon this in the past.

First of all, I just want to clear up this idea that we are only thinking about this now that SBMM is a thing. I can safely say that it is not the case. Over the few years I've been here, there have been loads of conversations about not only this, but many other hot topics that for one reason or another have to get shelved for a while (whether that's time constraints, bottlenecks, bigger fish to fry, etc.).

We shared this statistic because it gives something concrete to aim for. Previously, we only had ranks 1-20 to work on, and due to the way ranks worked- and since there's not a whole lot of granularity when you only have 20 ranks to work with- players of wildly varying skill levels ended up lumped together. I think anyone who's reached rank 1 on the old system knows that it's not necessarily purely about skill. Just by virtue of playing a lot, many people would end up climbing to rank 1 even if that wasn't where they were most comfortable.

As a result, the data wasn't very reliable and the gap appeared far smaller than it really was. Does that mean the gap didn't exist? No, absolutely not. Sure, we could feel a difference playing matches, but I think we can all agree that blindly aiming for a target that you cannot see is not a good idea. Doing so makes any change we could do very risky, as it could be totally overkill and buff Survivors way too much, or not enough and still leave solo Survivors behind (as well as wasting development time that could be spent on other issues). Even after the fact, it'd be hard to say whether or not the change was effective because we don't have anything but our gut feeling to determine if it worked.

With SBMM, on the other hand, we're able to see much more accurate info on just how big the difference is at different skill levels, and more importantly, we have something we can monitor to see how effective any changes are. It gives us a tangible goal beyond "This feels a little better I guess." Now if we do a change, we can see exactly how much the gap has closed (whether it's gone, unchanged, or smaller than before).

But moreover, the main reason we shared this info- both the statistic and the mechanic- is to be more transparent. I think anyone who's been around for a while can vouch for the fact that we normally don't talk about mechanics like this so early on. It's something that people have been asking for and it's something we've been pushing for as well. We genuinely believe it's better to be open about it and frame the things we're suggesting with reasoning rather than dropping it as a surprise with no context.

On a personal level, I find it a pretty disheartening that when we do push to reveal things earlier like this, it's often met with conspiracies, fearmongering and passive aggressive jabs at the team. I always get excited when we're able to good news like this with the community, especially when it's a big topic like the SWF gap. But it's really disappointing to see something that people have been asking for somehow get twisted into something negative. Even still, I stand by the fact that it's better to be transparent and share these details than the keep them locked away until the last second.

Aside from the negativity, it was obvious something was needed to close the gaps between solo survivors and groups. Have any devs expressed a concern that elevating survivors, even a tiny amount, could put more stress on the killer role? I’m all about helping solo q as I play solo but I’m worried the ability for all survivors to inherently know what the others are doing could put more strain on an, at times, already strained role.
