The experience new players will have in this game will be no different to other major multiplayer titles if we're going off of how """toxic""" the community is. Everyone knows what t-bagging is and has been exposed to it for years. As for flashlight clicking it's no different than people spamming overwatch voicelines over and over again to annoy people. The point I'm getting at is all this so-called "toxic behaviour" is just petty, meaningless noise that you choose to either get mad about or ignore.
The one thing that'll drive away new players is the sheer amount they'll have to grind for to get even a decent build together for killer and survivor (and the amount they'll have to spend on DLC to get said perks and killers, unless they're gonna wait to get a new killer or survivor every 60 hours of game time)
To be fair, the insane grind never drove us away. And today there are Archives and occasional BP codes to help.
Many players, such as me and you, were here way before that.

This perk used to be good, like REALLY good. Dealing with it on Haddonfield was painful on itself. Now, well it is a trash perk as @Aven_Fallen said.

The map still had the same problem before. All pallets were safe and it had 3 windows. Sure there was less but going from 20 to 25 doesn’t make a difference tbh.
Also the map was too dark for its own good making blendette’s or other blends outfits too strong.
Not to mention how enclosed the first floor was causing issues with powers like Billy’s or oni.
Depending on which killer you play, going from 20 to 25 safe pallets can make a difference.
Stealth tactics are never a problem for Freddy players, especially Old Freddy, so there is that.
On that we agree, Billy and Oni could strong a little bit. But then again, there isn't a map which favours every single killer. At least the Old Game only made it a little complicated for those two.
-
What else can I say?
-
Freddy. He still is my main and he always will be, but when I started playing he was very different and much more fun to play as.
-
It looks bad. VERY BAD.

I had figured, we've discussed this before and I'd simply like to defer my answer to someone like @GoodBoyKaru who may be able to give you a better answer, since they are in the community.
Ultimately, it doesn't matter what I think, it matters what those in the LGBTQ community think.
Precisely why I refrain from discussing this topic, to be honest. I am not a member of the community, and I think it is not the best idea to discuss it if you don't fully understand it. I don't fully understand it.

Tbf the map wasn’t exactly good before
I disagree, to be honest. That map was a paradise for stealth killers, not to mention completely viable for most of the others. Also, it was possible, yet challenging, to survive there without major problems.
Now... you hold W and pre-drop every single safe pallet you come across, and the killer has to deal with that.
Also, there are the visuals. But you know I would return to the old style ASAP if I could, so there is that.
-
It is an interesting idea, granted, but it might need a few changes. Please keep in mind, this is just my opinion.
Always Incapacitated in the Dream World is broken, because you won't be able to do anything. And Dream Projection should stay the way it currently is. I have a concept, if I may share:
Power: Dream Demon
Pull survivors into the Dream World
-Survivors who are awake do not see The Nightmare.
-Once targeted by The Nightmare’s power, survivors enter the Dream Transition for 7 seconds.
-During the Dream Transition Survivors can see glimpses of The Nightmare and they suffer from the Incapacitated status effect.
-When the Dream Transition Lapse, the Survivor is pulled into the Dream World.
Once in the Dream World:
-Survivor’s auras are revealed to The Nightmare when they are outside of his terror radius.
-Survivors suffer an action speed penalty of 40%.
-To exit the Dream World, Survivors can find non-sleeping Survivors to perform a wake up action.
-Failed Generator Skill Checks can also wake up.
-Hooked Survivors wake up.
Special Ability: Dream Projection
-Teleport to a Generator in view. Releasing the button early will cancel the action.
-Survivors cannot interact with the targeted Generator.
-For each Survivor in the Dream World, the cool-down of using Dream Projection is reduced by stack-able 20%.
“You have nothing to worry about. This won’t hurt one… little… bit.” -Freddy Krueger
-
Well, we don't have enough information about the auto-ban yet, so the best thing is to warn them about the potential risks and wait.
but...
If it works in the exact same way everyone is describing, then I would say that 95% of the playerbase is getting banned.

old Freddy was literal garbage, why do people want him back
Because he wasn't, if you knew what you were doing. Old Freddy was a solid mid-tier killer, but he demanded a very unique playstyle. Do not chase people until you were ready, keep juggling survivors between awake and asleep, hit and run tactics, and this list goes on.
Even Otz himself said that Old Freddy was not the weakest killer. Of course, that doesn't mean he was perfect, the only perfect version of Freddy was right when he released. Afterwards, he had his weaknesses. But he definitely was not garbage.

The Trickster is one of the best addition to the Entity lore wise imo. A psychopath torturing people to record their screams. He seems to be the most realistic killer to me.
Gameplay wise the chapter sucks
Well, to each their own :)

To be honest though, I don't remember my actual first DBD memory. But I do remember maining Jake when I first started playing and was a shameless Sabouteur Jake.
To be honest, that looks good!

Is what I'm assuming and what seems to be the best course of action. If it was just "they tunneled me and I had the charm" it would definitely be pretty unfair.
Alright, that is a relief. I really don't want to get banned for something I did not do.

People are stupid enough to admit to being homophobic/anti-lgbt+ in endgame chat already thinking they won't admit to tunneling someone specifically because they're wearing the pride charm is largely mistaken.
So, no punishments unless the killer admits they did it?
-
I was about to ask the exact same thing.

Yun-Jin carried that chapter so hard that you'd be bluffing to say she still has a spine.
Yun-Jin is fine, imo. But then again, I usually favour the 2016-2017 survivor cast, so there is that.
-
Ok, I am sorry but I must ask:
How are they going to tell the difference between someone getting targeted specifically because of the charm or someone getting camped / tunneled because it was the best play at the moment?
-
I support that idea.

It’s because there are so many people on these platforms that stated they don’t care or explicitly don’t want inclusion. It’s their fault. ;)
I don't doubt that actually happens, but I think the main reason is the supposed Bloodpoint economy., even though there was a Blood Feast back in 2017 and that alone could've broken it.

Exactly, I haven't heard it in years. I really want BHVR to let us listen to that again, it gave me some sort of nice nostalgic feeling that I associate with my first 500 hours of playing this game.
Same, my friend. I actually thought it was the main theme of the game back when I started, and I miss it so much.
To be honest, they should just let us choose our lobby. I would do anything to hear that music in-game again.
Also, if you are up for some nostalgia:

I wonder who was your actual first one...
It is hard to tell. Back when I started I only had the base game and ANOES DLC. I didn't play Quentin until a few days later, and didn't play the others until 2019. That leaves only Dwight and Claudette, and most of my early matches have been with those two.
Now, which one was the very first one I have no idea.
-
Either Dwight or Claudette.

That's so wholesome to hear!
And it's lovely to see a thread promoting positivity, I think we all are victim to remembering the negative stuff and forgetting about the positive stuff - even compliments, it's human nature I guess. But I think it's good to stop and think of all the positives that we have....for me, this game has given me a great job, and made me so many incredible friends in my life, people I wouldn't have otherwise met, so I will always be grateful.
Indeed! Even if I am unhappy with the current state of the game, I will always hold it close to my heart. And never forget all of the positive moments I've experienced. And the ones I am yet to experience, obviously.
As I've said, we as community are a family. And joining this family was one of the best decisions of my life.

The only reason I don't see them ever bringing back old files is because they would be of zero benefits to the current state of the game and would probably confuse newer players who didn't understand how some of it worked and then they would be on here complaining about some old mechanic that doesn't exist anymore or asking why they can do something in practice that doesn't work on the live build and reporting it as bugs, noobs would ruin it all sadly lol but what if the made a creation DLC And allowed us to make maps with the assets we have in the current state of the game? That would be so sick and then they could have like map creation competitions in the community for certain realms with the winners having their map go live for like a week or so
They just need to leave a clear warning that those are old mechanics, unavailable on the live version. For example, Moonlight offerings exists in KYF, but they can't be used and there is a clear warning that they've been retired. No one complains about it.
Besides, I want as much distance of the current state of the game as possible.
Also, I like your map creation idea, but without the old visuals and assets I don't think I would enjoy it.

When things like this happen it makes my day it helps remind me were not at war with survivors were a community that should work together and be kind. Its the main reason I don't try hard hardly at all only time I do is when a survivor is too good for me to make the game exciting then I try hard to give them a good time or at least try too.
Indeed! What people need to understand is that we, as a community, are a family.
Yes, we are a family. A divided and complicated family, but a family nonetheless.
-
Giving the hatch to an Élodie who got intentionally sandbagged by a David was one of the best DBD moments I've ever had.
I will never forget her "Thanks Freddy". It warmed my heart.
-
Not a good tactic, imo. You only have 5 Snares, that should be used carefully. Using them to protecting Clocks is not worth it, not anymore.

Well I wasn't suggesting it should be paid DLC lmao that would be ridiculous. They could list it as a free DLC.
I agree, it definitely should be free, especially considering that it was once part of the base game. But I am willing to pay if necessary.

You don't mind, but do other people? Not everyone has the storage to spare on things that, to a lot of people, would be wasted space on their PC. The one way they could get around it would be to list it as some kind of DLC on the store page.
Fair enough. Than the training mode becomes a DLC. If I have to pay in order to use the old content, then so be it.
-
@ALostPuppy said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2220614#Comment_2220614
Not a chance. That would mean adding back all the old files for the old content and bloat the filesize. The game's big enough, it's like 50GB at this point.
I don't mind. My computer has enough memory for that. Besides, it is quite possible that many assets are still there.
-
My favourite build is, and always will be, this one:
This was my first actual build with Old Freddy. Took me quite some time to level up Hag, Cannibal and Nurse, but it was worth it! I had so much fun with this build back in the day, even during the Moonrise event.
Sometimes I still use it...
...But it is not the same.
-
@The_Krapper said:

I think they're laying the groundwork to somewhat do that but I don't think we'll ever get points for the training mode like mobile because it would make que times skyrocket, but if there's no incentive other than practicing I could see it being implemented like KYF but bots and no points involved
Well, if they allow us to do whatever we want with this mode than I don't mind not getting Bloodpoints.

I agree, I hope it's subject to change (which is very unlikely).
Someone needs to tell BHVR to stop changing every single damn thing they come across.
Just because you can change something, doesn't mean that you should.

That doesn't look good at all.
