Hey if that's your opinion, I respect it
The playstyle you mentioned has only gotten harder with the invent of our favourite anti-loop killers who punish animation locks the hardest but if you find that the more engaging thing to see then I can respect that for sure
Thanks mate :)
That is way more civil then the responses I usually get.

Ok my friend. What's it going to take to get you to play again that doesn't involve going back to the past
Nothing.
If DBD is not going to return to be the game I loved, then I will not return to the Fog.
What is the point of playing a game if you dislike it?
-
@Brokenbones said:
I'll never understand people stigmatising 'Holding W' aka running away from the killer
I get why people dislike it, why they think it's unfair or "has no counterplay" but the thing that enables survivors to do it (Post hit speed boost) has been in the game since the very beginning I believe and the maps have only (more or less) gotten a bit more balanced over the years
Here's a question for you people who hate 'W holders'. What do you want them to do? Commit to the closest loop? Waste their speed boost on an animation lock (Which a lot of the killers punish heavily)? Like what do you want?
imo the real problem isn't holding W, it's that chases can take too long making committing not worth it but sometimes you have no other option. It's a lose lose
"Here's a question for you people who hate 'W holders'. What do you want them to do? Commit to the closest loop? "
As a hater of "W Holders", survivors committing to the closest loop is exactly what I wish to see.
I am from a time when the absolute majority of the cast could be looped in the regular manner.
And I would've liked if it had stayed that way.
But then again, that is just me.

Before than it was an anti killer perk
Or so i've heard, anyway.
When I first started playing DBD, DS had this effect:
I've seen people use it to make the killer waste a huge amount of time, and I've seen people use it and then get downed a few seconds later.
Its actual strength relied heavily on its user.
Though, I guess this is the same for every perk.

Yeah that’s part of the reason I wish the perk never existed in the first place. Not a fan of completely reworking perks or killers because people may like their current design. That’s why reworking Freddy was a huge mistake. Feel bad for @GeneralV :(
It indeed feels bad. Losing your favorite character like that is devastating, to say the least.
Though I appreciate the sympathy.

yeah. before then it was (and actually still is) just an extra health state.
I prefer to say it was an "anti-momentum" perk.
-
I don't think we do.
DS itself wasn't even an anti-tunnel perk until early-2019.
-
By the time you get the effect its original version provided, it doesn't matter anymore.

More recent past I don't know.
But, if my precious Freddy Krueger taught us one thing, is that 1 week is all it takes.

Boon Totems were never a good idea idea to begin with, especially COH.
BHVR 2018: "We will increase the amount of charges required to complete a heal action, consequentially and undeservedly removing Self-Care from the meta, because killers need more time to patrol generators".
BHVR 2021: Ha" COH go heallllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll"
Why?

I think it is best to wait 1 week before jumping to conclusions.

Well...I would wait 1 week, my friend.
If nothing gets changed after 1 week, then you can actually celebrate :)

I can feel the relief coming from your words.
But be careful, my friend. Do not celebrate just yet.
At least wait 1 week.
-
-Revert the Realm Beyond entirely and delete everything related to new maps.
-Revert Freddy to his on-release version with one or two additional QoL improvements.
-Grant me command over Dead by Daylight so I can continue the reversions and additional changes in order to reach a perfect game. Or, you know, as close to a perfect game as possible.

Yeah, the good part was that you were here when the game was actually good. Thankfully, so was I.
Perhaps, one day, DBD will return to be the masterpiece it once was.
At least we hope it will.

Great, as if I didn't have plenty of reasons to dislike that map already.
Good thing I will never play on it. At least not on the nearby future.
-
Honestly, the worst thing about Hexes are the Totem Spawns.
In October of 2017, a few days after Freddy's release, Monto made a video where he was going for a 4-man Devour Hope. And, in that video, he says that finding Totems "is like playing Where's Waldo, with Waldo standing in a white room by himself".
The situation still hasn't changed.

@Phasmamain said:
Words cannot express how much I agree with you.
New killers are making the game frustrating (To a point where I just DC against every trickster I see) and usually add nothing new to the game
Long standing balance issues (maps, nurse, objective speed etc)
MMR making the game more sweaty and annoying when there was no need for it anyway
The realm beyond literally killing the games unique artstyle and destroying the atmosphere.
It just isn’t fun anymore and I feel like my time in game is wasted. This isn’t the dbd I fell in love with in 2019 and I’ll probably never enjoy it like that again
It is with great sadness that I say this, my friend, but...welcome to my world.

Red forest and Swamp make me want to die irl I'd rather not tbh. Like I'd take the new maps over my literal least favourite trio (Swamp, forest, haddonhell)
That is very unfortunate. This suggestion really helped me during my final days.
-
You and I have pretty similar opinions, my dear friend.
I agree with 98% of everything you've said here, my only disagreements are regarding Ormond and Character Models being good changes. Everything else we totally agree.
At the beginning of the post you asked what could you do to have more fun. I would personally recommend selecting an old survivor, with old perks, and use either a Red Forest or Swamp Offering. The...pretend you are in a better time.
I know it sounds...weird, but that is what I did to make the game a bit more tolerable...Eventually I couldn't take it anymore and had to leave the Fog, but it worked for a while.

MMR was a terrible, TERRIBLE mistake.

Winter Solstice is also extremely good. Both of them.

Cheaters actually arent at an all time high, there were multiple instances of there being a surge of cheaters, late 2017 - early 2018 was its worst because you didnt even need to install anything, there were numerous tutorials on how to do this and it took 5 minutes to do.
Performance was just as bad if not worst, I remember good ol' Shelter Woods being a HUGE culprit
Again, take it from some one whos been there and 1/3 of my hours is still spent during that time, there are definitely changes that I dont like in todays version, but there are more things that Im glad are left behind
There were indeed a few surge of cheaters in the past, but the one we are currently seeing might as well be just as bad. Look at the sheer amount people complaining about hackers, not to mention some people were genuinely scared of playing the game because of DDOS and other things that could really mess with your platform of choice.
As for performance, it always had its problems, but nowhere near as bad as it currently is. For example, here on the Forums actually, someone explained to me about Gas Heaven and how it causes problems on console, while its old version did not. Just a quick search on performance issues are related to present-day DBD (from 12 results that I got, only one was from the past). And if Shelter Woods was a huge culprit in the past, it certainly still is.
My friend, take it from someone who has a bigger interest in Old DBD than anyone else's: you should think the absolute opposite, tbh. The amount of things you dislike in the current version should vastly outnumber the amount of things you are glad were left behind.

Balance was only one of many, MANY issues that plagued this game back
From P2P, to the endless amount of bugs that were even more than game breaking, easy to access cheats (seriously, you played Old DbD, installing a save file on there is all you had to do if you wanted to get more progress) no DC penalty, even worst performance issues and the list goes on and on. The games past is only glorified by those who haven't truly experienced it and there is no doubt in my mind that if it stayed the way it once was it would be completely dead today.
Take it from some one who's been there during those times, the state of the game was MUCH worst.
My friend...out of everything you mentioned only one of them is not here anymore.
We still have a huge amount of bugs (which included one or two sightings of the Loss of Progress glitch from back in the day), cheaters and hackers are at an all-time high and you know it, performance on consoles has never been worse (and I've spoken to people who assured me the old maps were better on console), a DC penalty that doesn't work properly and it is constantly disabled, and this list goes on and on.
I am not glorifying things, my friend. You know from my Freddy suggestion that I am usually open for discussions and small adjustments.
But calling current DBD better than Old DBD? That is just unrealistic.
-
I don't think he is overpowered, but I do think he was a bit overbuffed.
I am not really a fan of the whole "charges" system. I think removing the movement speed penalty while charging up the chainsaw and making sure his add-ons worked properly would've been enough.
But then again, that is just me.
In the general aspect, Bubba is fine.
-
Freddy's P3 is easily my favorite.
-
From the day I started playing DBD, back in 2018, until I left the Fog earlier this year, most of my Survivor experience was solo. And yes, I did have faith in my teammates.
Solo Queue is definitely not as bad as most people say. Yes, it has its bad moments:
But this doesn't happen every single trial.

Those two also, for sure. Old The Game being called killer sided was always a joke to me. It's the same map we have now, just darker and with less god pallets.
Well...to each their own, I guess.
Depending on your playstyle, some maps will be easier or harder for you.

Please man, you werent there for most of that time. Didnt you only join late 2018?
They for the most part havent really changed, the only things that they did a bit better back then is listen more to the community, and wanna know what A LOT of people were saying? To stop doing events and to fix their game, and thats exactly what they did.
Were those events cool? Absolutely, Howling Grounds and Scorching Summer BBQ werent much but they were still alright, Hallowed Blight was the best event this game has seen and the effort put into it seems to be more than an entire chapter, Winter Solstice 2018 was also very festive, but didnt offer much gameplay. And then Moonrise comes in at a close second for events, right behind Hallowed Blight.
The thing with this tho, is the game was even worst in terms of balance than it is now, and a good chunk of people just wanted a more balanced game, so what did they do? Cut back on events to focus more on balancing the game.
And that leads us all the way to today, the game balance wise is the best its ever been, we just got probably one of the best patches we've ever got in the history of DbD with numerous balance changes for multiple killers and perks. This game has only gotten better, its the community thats only gotten worst
Yes, I joined in late 2018, but I know the history of my favorite game. I took the time to learn about everything that has happened in DBD prior to my arrival in the Fog. Heck, one of my former teammates once said I knew more about the game than he did, and he joined around Hag's release.
My friend...please don't take this the wrong way, but it is obvious that most of the complaints back then were focused on balance, because that was the only thing left to fix. Was the balance worse? Yes, without a doubt. But everything else was on its place! The game had a better aesthetic, better visuals, cool Offerings, more interesting powers, and this list goes on. The balance itself was the only thing they hadn't adjusted yet, so people would obviously be vocal about it.
And now...Now we have a game that doesn't do anything right, with a slightly better balance. Imagine that you have a product that must be perfect in order to be released. And everything about it is indeed perfect, except for a small detail. In order to fix that small detail, you ruin everything else. Now that small detail is acceptable, but everything else isn't. That is current DBD. And heck, with this Boon Totems, that small detail might have been ruined too!
DBD hasn't gotten better, my friend, it got WAY worse. There is a reason why most people here think that way.

Early 2019. Around the time of the roadmap and some big talk about 60 frames minimum for all platforms. That one issue comletely ignored ever since is what really boils my bunions.
Ah yes, how could I forget that?
At the very least, back in early-2019, they somewhat interested in making that a reality. It is around the middle of the year that things will start going downhill.

If I remember correctly, Springwood was far more survivor side before it was reworked. The Game, though, used to favor killers more. Now it favors survivors.
Depends on when you are.
The OG Springwood (back when there was just 1 of it) is my second-favorite map of all times and I never found it unfair for killers.
Some of the pre-rework Springwood maps were not that bad either.
Now...the addition of Breakable Walls and more Pallets really made balance worse.
But then again, we all have our favorite maps, so this is really subjective.
-
@danielmaster87 said:
They've been like that all along. Really unfair tiles chained together, with survivors not even having to use the pallets to waste loads of time, so that those loops can be used for the whole game. Killers were not taken into mind when making these maps.
Haddonfield, CowHell and Ormond have indeed been Survivor sided since their release.
But The Game and Springwood? Those two I don't think so, to be completely honest.
-
Pretty sure my killer side would win.
-
BHVR has been nothing but disappointment after disappointment since mid-2019 and it is seemingly endless.
It is extremely hard to believe that we are talking about the same company that, from 2016 to early-2019, did an excellent work with DBD.
It is really hard to believe. One does not simply unlearn the correct path...right?

He wasn't. And I speak from experience.

I hope not.

Wish the game was still good, so I would be around for her release.
Ever since Artist was announced, i imagine her during the "camera spin" on Old Wretched Shop, and I would really like to see that.
Like, take this video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MaawCLK94OI&ab_channel=MontoAnd replace Doctor with Artist. That is the image my mind created and I am sad I won't see it.
Don't ask me why it happened, but it did.
-
The only time I felt something like this was back in early 2019, when I finally got all the perks for my build on Old Freddy:
Old Hex: Ruin, BBQ, Thanatophobia and Fire Up.
I used this specific build a lot back in the day and had lots of fun!
I occasionally used it right before leaving the game...but it wasn't the same...
