Renjiro is the first Yamaoka. The Splintered Hull add-on is from the ship he was on when it sank. The first Yamaoka was a shipwreck survivor. Either the Yamaoka family is just really unlucky, or this is confirmation.
It's Kazan's relationship to Renjiro we need to figure out (I'll figure out where they fit into the timeline when they actually come out). Renjiro's Bloody Glove states "The glove Renjiro held to his sternum following the strike by his son." Kazan fought against his father. The thing that complicates this is that Kazan struck his father in the head, not sternum. But I don't know why this add-on would be important to Kazan otherwise. So, again, unless the Yamaoka's are EXTREMELY unlucky, Kazan is the SECOND Yamaoka.
So, distant ancestor = Yes. First Yamaoka = No.
I think the "strike" it's implying is the moment Kazan was about to kill his father on the bridge leading to the lord he was heading to. (To kill of course, it says the lord "defiled his name" or something.)
His father was in disguise and was about to kill Kazan but stopped, in the end Kazan took the upper hand and killed his father. I assume THAT'S what the glove is implying, since nothing else fits.

Yeah but I want to know why it is so :(
There is no information on that i'm afraid, sorry. (Yet anyways.)
It just sounds like a random occurrence is all, it doesn't really need an explanation... it just happened.

The matchmaking is currently having issues at the moment, the official tweet is in the bottom right hand corner. (if you want an OFFICIAL statement that is...)
So sadly, until it's fixed this will happen for some time.

There are some indications in the description of the Spirit's halloween skin.
I think that's just to follow with the legend.
The Oni isn't really an Oni per-say... he's just a guy with violent tendencies that made it easy to compare him to an Oni. That, and the way he would fight others made people just automatically assume this.
I don't think he's actually an Oni, nor does the lore flat out admit this, but I can say whoever fought him and whoever watched him fight just assumed it to be true. That's what legends are, they're for the most part just fabrications of the real story... not lies, but beefed up to be more dramatic and entertaining.
So when her skin says "Her birthright" it's doing a call back to The Oni's past and his legend among folk lore.
-
Usually when a perk doesn't say it stacks or not, it usually means it does.
In most cases, it does would be the answer. On some rare occasions, the perks won't stack with anything despite not saying if they do or not.
But in this case, I can safely say that Hope and Breakout would stack together during the EGC.
-
That's actually a very commonly used script back in the day to gain points... they would have it set to just swing all the time, or swing when Survivors are nearby to gain chase points...
Something like that, it's a script they're using though (Unless they were moving like normally while doing it, than no that's just someone pressing the M1 button and not participating in the match.)
You can report for that if the 2nd case is what he was doing, but it sounds to me that he was using a script to do this, i'm surprised people even use that script anymore tbh.

Yeah, that's why I said in two different comments, based on his lore and the lore of the Yamaoka maps, that Oni wasn't the "first Yamaoka" mentioned in the Yamaoka Estate lore.
Right, he's the most infamous one indeed though.
-
It's most likely just an ancestor, not the first Yamaoka family member... but an ancestor that started the whole legend of The wandering Oni.
@Fibijean I wouldn't say he was the first Yamaoka, since the story says he had a father... which technically means that father would have family members before him as well. It seems to most likely just be the most infamous member of their family that started the entire legend in the first place.
-
Fibijean already said it, but the matchmaking is acting up at the moment, so i'm not surprised that your queue times are insanely long.
Also, if you still experience long queue times after the fix AND you're Grey or Yellow rank (The color of your top right rank is Grey or Yellow,) than that's normal for Grey and Yellow ranks to be insanely long with queue times as well.
We're late into rank reset, so ranks like Yellow or Grey during a rank reset will usually be dead with players to play with. Usually, the matchmaking will find someone similar or the same as your rank to play with, if it doesn't find anyone that meets this criteria than it will search for higher ranked Survivors/Killers to pair you with in a lobby.
That's usually why it takes so long with those ranks.
but
Your issue at the moment is that the matchmaking is acting up for multiple platforms, the official tweet is in the bottom right hand corner.

-
Xbox and PS4 are basically the same when it comes to graphics and optimization.
Console has always had issues with optimization, but compared to before it's come a long way indeed! I've heard recently that a lot of people have issues when playing specific Killers like Doctor that tax on the console a lot...
So... I wouldn't say one is better than the other tbh. If you compare community than that's a different subject.
-
I'm sure someone said it already, but they changed the hair physics to help with optimization and what not for the lower graphics settings.
At least that's what I was able to gather when the change happened.
-
If you're loading up the matchmaking through Ranks Yellow or Grey, than the queue times will of course be low.
We're pretty late into the rank reset (Which happens every new month of the 13th.) So, it's to be expected that hardly anyone is in ranks Yellow or Grey... Chapter 14 will release a new rank reset method that might help with this issue, when the new reset happens, Killers and Survivors will be reset back to a previous rank. So, if you're in Red you'll be reset back to purple, purple back to green, green back to yellow, etc.
It sounds like you're trying to load a match in yellow or most likely grey rank (Ranks 20-16 or 15-13 or something like that.) In those ranks, the queue times are insanely long because like I said, they don't have enough players to pair with OR those players are already in a match. With how little few there are in that rank, this is to be expect, ESPECIALLY late into rank reset.
If you have the patience than your best bet is to tough it out and get to green ranks, there, green ranks improves the queue times dramatically!
-
It's currently unknown if version opengl 2 will be able to play DBD mobile.
If your phone can't run DBD mobile than there is nothing you can really do about it, except get a more up to date phone of course. Of course, you could also just need a "stronger" phone.

My guess would be that you would be able to get it by owning both games on console, the same as with the PC version, although currently Deathgarden isn't available on console so I assume the mask isn't either.
It has recently been confirmed that the game will be receiving its final update soon and seems to be in the process of shutting down on PC, so it's entirely possible it will never arrive on console at this point.
Right, I forgot about that. @honestscript it's said that they'll be shutting down the servers for Deathgarden at the end of this year so.
If it isn't on PS4 than the skins will never come to PS4 unless they release the skins for free.
-
The only way to get the DeathGarden mask in-general is to buy BHVRs other game, Deathgarden. but I don't think Deathgarden is on PS4 so...
It says that Deathgarden was announced to release for PS4 in 2019, so I think it is on PS4 by now. This was announced in 2018 so...
When buying Deathgarden on PC, upon purchase the mask will be in Meg and Trappers inventory. So by extension the same should apply to PS4 as well. But if it's not on PS4 than it's impossible to get the Deathgarden mask.

Just saying if you're at Tier 45-50 that means that at minimum you've gotten 28-32 of those tiers from regular play, not from the Tomes. :P
Tome IV, from the leaked screens: 8 Rift Tiers (15 nodes, 10 RF on completion, 85 Rift Fragments Total)
So from 3/4 Tomes, we're only getting 26 Rift Tiers (262 RFT). They'd need more nodes and/or more RF available per node in Tome III than any other Tome in order to even get half of the Rift completed from challenges - not to mention that their timing puts Tome IV smack in the middle of holiday travel season.
I can't deny the math.
-
It's more so just being dedicated, having a decent to big following, and being a positive pillar in the community of DBD.
You can criticize things as you please, but within reason and respect of course...
There isn't a criteria for the Fog Whisperers program per-say... it's more so just being noticed by BHVR and showing you're a respectful and knowledgeable person within the community, as well as helpful and other such qualities that BHVR naturally looks for. Being say, incredible "toxic" or just having bad manners towards updates, patches, DLC, other players, etc is something to avoid if you're seeking to be a Fog Whisperer.
Other than that, I can't say there is a "Fog Whisperers Guide" for you to look up on youtube... it just takes dedication to get there.

Just some basic maths
Tome I: 9 Rift Tiers (21 nodes, 10 RF on completion, 93 Rift Fragments Total)
Tome II: 8 Rift Tiers (18 nodes, 10 RF on completion, 84 Rift Fragments Total)
The challenges alone don't get you there, the majority of your personal progress has to be from XP. In the course of even casual play, though, I agree that lots of people are likely to be able to finish the Rift.
I think in-general you'll get close to it, but the rest requires you to just normally play.
And, even if you don't normally play after all challenges are done... you'll still get the 800 EXP Rift Fragments while doing the challenges themselves.
-
You should follow PolarBears instructions and file a bug report in the appropriate thread. After doing so and you feel your rank should be re-set back to it's original position... than you can also file a ticket with the support team to straighten that issue out.
You can also just skip reporting the bug on the forums and just submit the issue with a ticket as well... it's entirely up to you.

It would be a neat concept, but they'd have to use a unique vampire like Dracula or Alucard.
And, they'd have to get the license for either one or BOTH... so it's unknown if they could get a unique vampire Killer if they even did this... they'll most likely have to use an original design and concept of their own.
-
@thatfoxy said:
But still the last part of the question is unanswered
Well, each level gives about I wanna say... 15 tiers maybe less or more? Maybe 20? So for the sake of realism i'll say it's 15-20. Now, each level on Tome l gives more rewards for each new tome level that's released... since they gradually get harder and harder to complete.
So, I'd say you'd most likely get to Tier 70 if you complete every levels tome challenges. If not, you'd be pretty close and would require some regular matches to get the rest.
The thing about doing challenges and the average 800xp Rift Fragment you get... is that you get both at the same time when doing new challenges.
So it's safe to say that you'll hit Tier 70 with no issues. And since you get Rift Fragments from every new 800xp gained... you might get to Tier 70 before you even finish all the levels by playing casually.
I'm tier like... 45-50 at the moment? And I haven't play as much as I should since The Archives came out... so by knowing this, it's safe to say that'll you'll be alright and might even get to Tier 70 before the challenges are all gone.

Yes, he can't turn even remotely as fast as a survivor can to loop pallets. His mobility is only downing a survivor that is being oblivious and has terrible pathing. His power doesn't counter loops at all.
You're right, if you're in the open though you're definitely dead from his demon strike... You don't even need to hold down the M1 button to get the insta-down ability.
You only have to hold it for literally a fraction of a second and it'll count as an insta-down, clicking will obviously be a normal attack akin to Myers Tier l lunge.
-
It's because Mettle of Man was an unbalanced perk right out the door, perks like DS that had literally no counter or Mettle of Man that ALSO had no countenr were in-general not good for the overall health and balance of the game.
Having an extra hit that's undeserved and easy to obtain is... quite an issue for the overall balance. The same goes for DS, a free escape with no downside to a long chase is ALSO a big issue to keep in the game.
That's also why insta-heals were changed as well, being able to fully heal a downed Survivor that took the Killer literally 4 minutes to down is pretty unfair... especially if you don't down that Survivor than they'll just do generators and gen rush you.
Your only hope in most these scenarios is to go after the "weaker link" but if everyone has insta-heals, Pre-nerf DS, Pre-nerf Mettle of Man, than they can easily negate a lot of progress that the Killer is trying to achieve. This is especially bad if you're facing a coordinated team or a SWFs with or without coms.
I'm glad that BHVR fixed these issues, mainly because the perk builds you would face started to blend together after awhile...

I guess I'll always have trouble grasping the concept of changing certain features for the sake of balance while leaving other features alone even though they are acknowledged as unbalanced.
I'll just assume that "balances" are put into the game to make it more fun for the majority of players...(a.k.a. survivors).
Thanks for your comments on the matter Fire Hazard
It's mostly for the majority and general balance yes, but BHVR also looks out for the minority as well.

So the recommended course of action is to download the live client first, then "patch" it to build 3.4.0. If I wish to play the live client after trying the PTB version, I make the switch and the game will resolve the matter by re downloading the current patch over writing the "newer patch" files?
I am happy to re download 1Gb of data I was reluctant to have to re download the entire game.
That's basically it yes, you're correct.
It just re-downloads the old or new patch and rewrites which ever you have for the new or old version.
-
I've already answered this question by testing it in a KYFs match, it's still 2 seconds to vault when bamboozle is on or off.
The only notible change is if you get a full 5 stacks for Fire Up! and add bamboozle to it... than its like 1.8 seconds instead. The change is so minor that you wouldn't even notice it if you weren't paying attention.
-
Yes, you essentially have to re-download the previous patch for LIVE or the new patch for PTB.
You don't redownload the entire game no... if you did it would be a lot bigger than 1-ish gigs
-
Because, like The Legions Iridescent pin add-on... the Prayer beads add-on change is a lot more tame than it's previous iteration. For one, hearing a Terror Radius or Spirits Whoosh sound effect is heard around the entire map... it's less likely to be a threat as the game progresses...
The real power in add-ons like that is it keeps people off generators for a second or two and even more if they're paranoid about it... where, pre-nerf prayer beads would just remove the sound entirely and would have multiple people be grabbed off generators and hooked as a result...
but besides that, this is why it helps.
Like I said before, it causes paranoia over-time... but it also makes where she's a bit of a challenge to pin-point... kind of like Legions add-on as well. It's a bit stronger since you don't need a hit to activate the add-on like Legion does with his Iridescent pin... but it's still a lot more tame than say... no sound at all and MASSIVE paranoia about being picked off a generator.
In-general, the strength lies in the paranoia it instills... it also makes where she'll be unpredictable. So she could whoosh mid-chase on an injured Survivor and instead go right to a generator and grab someone off it or hit them instead... it causes more time being wasted on the Survivors part and makes her more unpredictable.
It's more balanced for sure than say... having literally no clue where she'll be and than magically be grabbed of a generator out of nowhere... at least with this you can actually know if she'll try something like that with common sense.
-
No official statements have been given, it's unknown if they'll be changing how Adept Killer achievements are acquired.
Now in regards to the adept plague question
If you'd like some tips on how to get Adept Plague, than i'll give you some basic pointers.
For starters, focus on getting hits in before Survivors get the broken status effect from her Vile Purge ability... it's good to get brutality points and points towards the chaser emblem if you're looking to get a Merciless with her.
Hitting Survivors contributes to the emblems a lot... and it's especially important to gather points towards these emblems to ensure a Merciless Killer 31k game. You don't have to have every emblem be crimson... it just need most of them to be crimson... like 3 at minimum.
Also, make sure to put them into the injured state through a normal hit and than give them the broken status effect and down them that way... this will get you 300 points in brutality on the first hit, the broken status effect will proc and give you deviousness points... and than you'll get deviousness points after downing them through their infection state AND brutality points on top of that.
this parts important
Make sure to keep all your generators alive for at least 1 minute or 1 minute and 30 seconds... if you can even do 2 or 3 that's a GAME CHANGER indeed. Keeping your generators from being gen rushed is a really good emblem boost... and since you have Corrupt Intervention as one of you 3 perks... this should be a lot easier to pull off.
last
The game says to end chases as fast as you can... but that's only half true. It wants chases to end as fast as possible... but it also gives the most benefits to The Killer if the chase is a moderate amount of time... like, if you spent 30 seconds in a chase than that's good enough for the game... if you end the chase in 5 seconds you'll get hardly any points towards the emblem...
It's quite weird, but it's good to not just end the chase out right UNLESS you deem it to be necessary or the scenario calls for it. I'm not saying if you have a chance to down someone really fast that you shouldn't take it... i'm just saying to keep this in mind when you level up your emblems in a game.

To avoid tunneling and camping you can try perks that will fool Killers into losing you...
Perk combos like the "Houdini Build" work great for this. Using Quick and Quiet, Dance With Me, Lithe, and DS (Plus a Med-kit) is a great perk combo to use if you're trying to lose a tunneling and even camping Killer... simply get in a chase, vault a window in a very dense and concealed area... and sprint away leaving no scratch marks behind.
Than you can juke them by going into a locker in this closed off area and you'll probably survive? If you don't, that's what DS is for.
Besides that, tunneling and camping requires good teammates like slaya has said... and if they have Borrowed Time to help with the tunneling situation. Some tunnelers might chase you for the entire game... so it's good to have Decisive Strike and Borrowed Time proc together... so you can last for as long as you can.
In-general though, you won't always Survivor a tunneling/camping Killer that does either or both of those things... you'll probably get tunneled off hook to death, which is unfortunate and I'm sorry if that might happen.
-
That's why when Chapter 14 releases we'll have a DC cool-down timer!

Judging from the legions nerf update post
@PatBrutal said:

People of the Fog,
Since the release of Chapter 11: The Darkness Among Us, we have received a lot of feedback, both positive and negative, regarding The Legion. With this update, we aim to bridge the gap in the extreme playstyle of this Killer and remove some of the ongoing frustrations when playing as The Legion as well as against The Legion.
The following changes allow for direct Survivor counter-play, reduce the potential for exploiting certain game mechanics, and bring The Legion’s default attributes in-line with other Killers, all while retaining the core vision of this Killer.
The Legion
- The Legion’s base movement speed is increased to 4.6m/s.
- The Legion’s Terror Radius is increased to 32m.
- Most of The Legion’s add-ons are rebalanced or reworked to account for the changes to Feral Frenzy and the Deep Wound status effect.
- The Iridescent button addon no longer requires The Legion to apply Deep Wound for the effects to be active.
Feral Frenzy Update
- The recharge time of Feral Frenzy is increased and now requires a full power gauge to use it. Once it has been activated, the Legion must wait until the power gauge is full to be able to trigger the power again.
- The duration of Feral Frenzy is increased. The Legion spends longer in frenzy.
- The movement speed of Feral Frenzy is significantly reduced. The Legion moves faster than base speed while in frenzy, but not as fast as they did before.
- The Legion can no longer see blood pools (in addition to not seeing scratch marks) while in Feral Frenzy.
- Feral Frenzy is immediately and automatically cancelled whenever The Legion misses an attack while in frenzy.
Deep Wound Update
- The Deep Wound timer pauses for survivors within The Killer's Terror Radius–regardless of whether they are in a chase or not.
- The Deep Wound timer pauses while Mending.
- The Killer does not see the Deep Wound timer progress–only the Deep Wound bar to know that Deep Wound has been applied.
- The Deep Wound timer progress is no longer reduced by regular Feral Frenzy attacks.
We hope these updates will enrich your gaming experience and we look forward to your feedback regarding The Legion.
See you in the Fog.
The Dead by Daylight Game Design Team
The mid-chapter Player Test Build will be live on April 23rd and will include an update to The Legion
There wasn't any changes to the mend time itself and how long it takes to be downed by the Deep Wound status effect that The Legion applies...
And since Feral Frenzy attacks do not decrease the Deep Wound effects timer anymore... it's safe to say that @NuclearBurrito is right.
It's pretty much 30 seconds until you're downed by the deep wound status effect, but because of all these conditions that The Legion got after the nerf... it's safe to ALSO say that being downed by this effect is almost impossible now...
-
Their drop rate is pretty low on the blood-web itself... (compared to other drops) and if you're looking for a specific splinter than the drop rate goes even lower.
Like Huntress said above, the RNG just needs to be in your favor on this one. If you want to know how rare the splinters are... there is no exact drop rate on record, at least there isn't one that I could find.
They're about as rare as a BPS or Pudding is... so you could get a lot of them at one time or none for awhile... similar to Bloody Party Streamers or Puddings.
-
There is no official date for release yet, some might come up with a date from... other sources... but there is no official date from BHVR themselves yet.
Also, I like The Oni a lot. His design is definitely the coolest design I've seen in any DBD Killer... i'm indifferent about the new Survivor tbh.
