This isnt just visual desync these are legit hitbox issues. You know when its just desync because the killer will normally have a little jump to the proper location after but wasn't the case. He even hit me while I was on the complete opposite end of the pallet which I also have recorded but didn't post
Sorry, that was probably a bad word to use because it's a technical term as well. I was using "desync" in the literal sense, as an abbreviation of "desynchronisation". That is, visually, the killer's movements do not match up (synchronise) with the survivor's response, which is not ideal but is necessary from a development perspective to avoid balancing issues or strict creative limitations.

I edited my post to hopefully clear some things up.
I'll argue the age-old argument that the current Ruin is needed for killers that lack mobility/power for the initial portion of the game. We both already know the rest of this, so I'll spare you the reiteration.
The reason I stated that developers want shorter games is due to the fact that there is no other option for low-mobility killers to turn to that has a quick impact on early game generator progress (Corrupt Intervention is decent, but people more often than not hide for the duration and it still leaves some generators open for repair). Did they explicitly say that they want shorter games? No, but that's the way they're taking the game for most of the killers on the roster.
Sure, as survivors we can all hunt totems for the juicy 1,000 BP. But there's not really any pressure to find a totem early on, since all totems now have prerequisite goals you (or the survivors if NOED) have to complete before they start having an effect on survivor game-play, and that's if they aren't found before then.
End point is that the match is strictly controlled by the survivors skill and whether or not they're goofing around. When I run discordance on any low-mobility killer (Clown, Huntress, etc), I can't apply pressure on a generator that's halfway across the globe (and when I get there, it's pretty much done).
I'm not sure what the point you're trying to make is, since your comment seems to be making an entirely separate point from your edited OP. Are you trying to say that the changes to Ruin are bad because they conflict with the emblem system, or that the game in general is badly designed when it comes to game speed and applying pressure? Because those are two different issues.
To address the OP: there are a lot of other ways to slow down the game besides Ruin. I agree that the emblem system is flawed, but if emblems are the problem you have with the Ruin changes then you're lucky they changed Gatekeeper along with it, since that was the only emblem prominently affected by Ruin specifically. Also, totem hunting as a secondary objective is still very much a thing. The fact that Ruin is no longer as effective as it once was barely diminishes that.
-
Did I miss something? When did they say they wanted to remove totems as an objective or make the games shorter?
-
As @Superyoshiegg said, this isn't a bug, just a visual desync. They were rescued at the exact moment that the bar ran out on your screen, as evidenced by the unhook noise notification a second later. The survivor in question didn't even have Adrenaline - if they had, they would have come off the hook at full health.

What aura reading perk was you using? It also depends on the angle to the generator and how well the survivor position themselves!
BBQ, I wouldn't have brought it up if it were any of the others 😋
-
See above. Specifically, Mangled reduces the survivor healing speed by 20%, so for example, an ordinary heal will take 20 seconds instead of 16, and a Self-Care heal will take 40 seconds instead of 32.
-
That's a pretty bold generalisation. The short answer is: they don't.
-
I'm not sure I've understood what you're suggesting with the different queues. Do you mean that they would literally be in different matchmaking queues separately from other players, or that the game would just be able to detect what size the party is so that it can give that information to the killer? If the former, the game doesn't have anywhere near a large enough player base to support that. If the latter, the game can already do that as part of its matchmaking system.
Unfortunately, both suggestions suffer from the same problem of extending queue times. The developers removed what was otherwise a very helpful feature from the game (survivors' ability to see each other's ranks in lobbies) because it was encouraging people to dodge lobbies and extending queue times, which are already bad enough. Anything that contributes to that problem is not really a feasible addition to the game in its current state.

I don't even say anything to anyone in any game I mind my own what I am saying if it's wrong to censor people the only exception being if someone was issuing serious threats. But it would seem having a different opinion here leads to egomaniacs trying to bully so I'm just gonna go it was foolish to expect anything from dead by daylight players. I'll just go back to you know working the land a small patch given by thiev uh I mean the almighty and venerable George Washington
That's why I was very carefully not accusing you of anything in my comment. As I said, I can see where you're coming from, from a legal perspective, and I even agree with you to an extent. However, in this case, it's not a matter of legality. It's not unreasonable for the devs to decide they don't want someone who violently attacks other players to be playing their game, any more than it is unreasonable for you to ask someone to leave your house if they come in and start destroying your possessions because they're feeling angry.

Did I say I have done any of these things? Please find where I have ever said this stuff. I'm saying you may as well be enslaved if someone wants to dictate what comes out of your mouth you are just trying to twist things. Love how you all gang on the one person with another opinion classic.
I can actually see where you're coming from, although just because you're allowed to do something legally doesn't mean it's the right thing to do morally. However, it's a bit of a moot point as far as this thread goes, because in the case of Dead By Daylight, using slurs like the ones OP mentioned to attack another player is not only morally wrong but also against the rules of the game. It isn't censorship to ask someone not to be disrespectful towards others on your platform and to enact the consequences if they do so regardless.

Usually a patch goes live about two weeks after a PTB starts. As mentioned, there is no official date yet, but Peanits has confirmed that it will be at least two weeks after the start of the PTB. The most likely-looking date is January 21, but that's speculation, not something that's been officially announced.

nono, thats not particulary what i was trying to ask.
i wanted you to look at the killers and pick your favourite - and tell me why you chose that way.
the thing with all of these killers is, that i dont really like them / i really suck at playing them, which is why they are still unleveled characters.
if i were to look at the killers i enjoy most, their powers are all across the board, honestly.
i main Trapper, however i can also find great joy in playing Hillbilly, Ghostface or Doctor.
and i aim at having everyone maxed out and being able to play them efficiently, so all of them will get their turn - the question is just: who shall be the next one?
still, thanks for trying to sort out the one i'd enjoy most xD
Fair enough. Well, if you're up for a serious challenge, I'd recommend learning Nurse. It will take a while, but she is strong and very rewarding.
Otherwise, the killer I personally find most enjoyable out of those is Pig. I like the fact that her power is a natural game slowdown, being able to sneak up and surprise survivors, and using the crouch to mindgame loops. And of course, she has the best meme potential of any killer 😋

Since generator auras and survivor auras match in color, the killer won't be able to tell the difference between a generator with a survivor and a generator that's hiding a survivor, assuming that survivor positions perfectly.
In my opinion, auras that overlap should have a different color. 😁🤗
Strange, because I could have sworn I saw the survivors behind generators when I was watching my brother play two days ago (I don't have BBQ on any of my killers).
-
My understanding from what I've seen is that they don't block the aura completely, they just make it more difficult to see.

its just about who to max out next.
ive gotten all perks from all killers already unlocked.
It depends on what kind of playstyle you're into, in that case. Who has been your favourite killer(s) so far, and why?
-
Well, the answer is basically twofold - firstly, because the survivors themselves aren't punished enough for it (which luckily is something that should be remedied soon) and secondly, because the emblem system itself is heavily flawed and needs to be revisited

The man asked about the perk and how it shows himself at the red ranks, you answered about the survivors. Any totem perk will depend on good luck and on which survivors the killer plays against.
That's exactly what I said. I talked about survivors at red ranks and how they deal with Devour Hope because that's typically what OP would get matched against as a red ranked killer.
-
Can be. Depends if you get a good spawn location, and whether you use it with other hex perks. If it's on its own and spawns in a good spot, it's likely that no one will go looking for it until it activates. However, most people know the totem spawns at red ranks, so if you use the perk before it gets to 5 stacks, it's not likely to last long enough for you to get a chance to mori anyone (unless you camp the totem like crazy).
Some survivors are particularly observant and will notice that you are faster than usual before the perk even gets to three stacks, and go hunting for it at that point. The thing about ranking up as survivor is that it's so easy that red ranks become a very mixed bag. Some people really know what they're doing and will eliminate a perk like Devour Hope early on, and some just exclusively focus on gens and ignore everything else until it's too late, or are potatoes who really have no business playing at top ranks, and so you're likely to be able to take advantage of the perk against them. So it's not so much a matter of the perk itself as it is a matter of what kind of survivors you happen to get matched against.
-
No one was able to access the site. I expect the Vanilla servers just went down temporarily, since someone else mentioned above that the same thing happened to other forums which use the same platform.

Oh, right, killers don’t deserve perks, they’re supposed to hook 4 survivors 3 times each. They’re not supposed to have any help finding them since they have such a large field of vision with their First Person point of view.
Lets not forget to mention the many second chance crutch perks that survivors have, as well as the direct counters they have to killer perks. (Inner will encourages survivors to cleanse hex totems to heal, effectively neutering the killer to playing with 3 perks).
Heck, most maps are survivor sided too, but of course, according to Survivors, killers are not supposed to have fun, they’re just a walking g robot for you to t-bag, loop and pallet stun. One sided players like you deserve the coming camping, tunneling and moris.
No one said any of that, though. Literally all they said was that they think the balance of the game is killer-sided, which is a debatable issue, and that killers have a lot of great perks, which is true. And that killers tend to earn more bloodpoints than survivors, which is also true.
I understand that there are a lot of survivors who do think the way you described, but it seems like you're taking out your frustration with them on someone who (in this thread at least, I haven't read all their other posts) has not even implied anything as dramatic as "killers don't deserve perks" or "killers aren't supposed to have fun". Telling someone that they deserve to be camped, tunnelled and moried for saying that the game is balanced in the killer's favour seems a bit extreme.
-
Are we taking perks into consideration, or have you already unlocked all their teachables?
-
Are we talking about emblem score, or bloodpoints?
-
No, progress from the PTB is never transferred to the live version. When the Rift releases on the live servers, you will have to start the Rift and the Tome from the beginning.
-
As mentioned, it's probably to speed up the process of expanding the lore for every character. It's possible that another reason for it is to diversify the challenges a little bit - with two killers and two survivors, people are likely to only get half as sick of playing with or against them as they did of Trapper and Claudette during the last Rift.
-
There's some great stuff in there - I love the new map, and I love Static Blast. But I'm not on board with the Ruin changes or some other parts of the Doctor rework, so all things considered, a neutral rating is the best I can give from my experience on the PTB so far.
-
I like the overall idea, I just have a couple of thoughts.
Firstly, a fairly minor thing, while I can see your reasoning for separating the skill check, I think from the perspective of a new player who doesn't understand how they work, it might be more confusing and also make it harder for them to learn to hit great skill checks because doing so is more risky. Skill checks are one of the most frustrating things already for new survivors, so for that reason I think they should be left as they are.
As I said, I like the idea of the fuse boxes in general, but I think you should come up with a different way of activating them. As Elk hinted, a lot of people don't find maths fun or aren't very good at it, and so having a mechanic like that in DBD would just be frustrating and annoying for those people. Especially when you're trying to concentrate on mental arithmetic while paying attention to your surroundings and keeping an eye out for the killer. It may be boring, but I think there are good reasons why generators are as un-engaging as they currently are.
-
There is no officially confirmed date - Peanits has said it will happen "at least" two weeks after the PTB began on the 7th, but the 21st is looking to be the most likely.
-
It's definitely possible, but you would need to stun the killer a lot with Head On.
Assuming you got the opportunity to use DS, and struggled on hook for the entire second phase, you would get 500 points for DS, ~900 points for struggling, a maximum of 300 points for self-healing and 1000 points for dying as the obsession. You would need to stun the killer 11 times with Head On (500 points each) to make up the difference.
If you used Deliverance in that build, you could also get 1500 points for freeing yourself from the hook, so you would only have to stun the killer 8 times to get to 8k.
Depending on which killer you're facing, you could also gain points by escaping Bear Traps, Waking Up, Snapping Out Of It, escaping an RBT, cleansing against Plague or escaping Ghostface while exposed by his power.
-
@Ogprettypepsi said:
Are you 100% sure? Or have a character similar? I know they did alot of patches with perk sharing and that's why I'm worried/asking
Inferjus is right. I am 100% sure that you don't have to level the perk on Nurse to get it to tier 3 on other characters, as long as you have unlocked the teachable version at level 40.
For the sake of your peace of mind, though, I've taken some screenshots to prove it using Flip-Flop on my survivors. As you can see from the screenshots below, I have Ash at level 41, so all his teachables have been unlocked, but Ash himself only has Flip-Flop at tier 1. Feng, however, has Flip-Flop at tier 3. The same will be true for all characters and their perks, Nurse included. Hopefully that answers your question 😊
-
It really depends on your playstyle. If you like Ghostface, you could get another stealth killer like Pig or Myers, both of whom I personally consider very fun to play.
If you enjoy speed and mobility, Spirit and Hag are both good choices, or potentially Legion.
If you like messing with survivors/tracking abilities, go with Doctor, Plague, Freddy (also somewhat mobile) or possibly Clown.
If you want raw physical power, go with Oni (also speedy), Demogorgon (also somewhat mobile) or Leatherface.
Legion, Clown and Leatherface are all generally considered quite weak, but that doesn't mean you can't have fun with them. As I outlined above, it just depends on what kind of experience you find most enjoyable.

You should read more of their discussions - they give the benefit of the doubt to everyone, not just BHVR. If anything, they are a bit naive at time :P.
Lol, that's fair, I'll cop that. I generally choose naivete over cynicism if I have to go one way or the other when it comes to doubting someone.

@Nobsyde said:
OT - people should stop treating Trusted users like if they were somehow in BHVR's payroll. It's obvious they are just very passionate players which, most of the time (but actually, not always) happen to side with BHVR's choices. @Fibijean in particular is a very empathic person, resulting in her (you are a lady, right?) appearing as a BHVR advocate, but that's just because we are very vocal against some of BHVR's decisions - counter arguments should be encouraged, not met with acrimony.
...this being said, I doubt as well that the change from the leaked patch notes to the actual ones is dependent from our feedback, but I don't think either it's because BHVR is trying to undermine leaks credibility.
I am a "lady", yes xD Thank you for the kind words, I really appreciate it ❤️ And I agree with your point about counter arguments, in all situations - I'm always happy to engage in a debate as long as people on both sides can be courteous and reasonable in their disagreement.

"It was never a thing". Bud, even with that "Trusted" tag, do you really need to go to bat for everything they say? Knowing BHVR's track record, it was more likely a thing, and they cut out last minute because of the big time backlash it got due to the leaked patch notes. It doesn't make you look very credible to say "it was never a thing" when the leaked notes were identical to the official ones, with that one line being omitted.
It wouldn't have been the first time they bandaid fixed something.
I say what I believe to be true, and that hasn't changed since the tag came along. If you paid more attention to my posts, you would realise that I don't go to bat for everything BHVR says. Using evidence which is circumstantial at best, and really is just an inference on your part, doesn't really do anything to discredit what I'm saying, and neither does merely asserting that what I'm saying isn't credible.
You have a different interpretation of events, and that's okay, but please don't insult my integrity by implying that I'm some kind of mindless parrot.

The game doesn't cause players constant stress and anger. Like most pvp games, players will be going through highs and lows and like any addiction it is hard to stop.
The general nature of any forum for any game is to post what you are not happy about, that is just a fact. So it may seem people are always unhappy with the game but what you are really seeing is a minority of players expressing dissatisfaction.
Giving negative feedback or expressing dissatisfaction is one thing, and it's something to be encouraged as long as they can do it in a reasonable and constructive way. But at the same time there is a difference between that and people posting lengthy rants calling the devs names or spitefully taking out their disappointment on other players, which I think is the kind of behaviour OP is talking about.

Wait, I thought that the normal Killer Lunge lasts for 0.3 seconds, if you look up the "Lunge" in the wiki it says that it lasts for 0.3 seconds, I don't know what is the right answer.
Hm... The best explanation I can think of is that the Lunge page is referring to, as it says, specifically how long the speed boost lasts for, while the numbers on Myers' power are referring to the total duration of the animation, including the "wind-up".
-
Myers has a 0.2 second lunge at tier 1. Tier 2 is the normal killer lunge, which is apparently 0.5 seconds, and his tier 3 lunge is increased to 0.6 seconds. All according to the official wiki:

This entire post gives me the impression that you exclusively play survivor. If you played killer at higher ranks, you'd understand why a lot of players aren't exactly thrilled about this change. In before.. "I'm a red rank killer and I've never used ruin and I 4k every game etc etc."
Lots of people understand why killers (and a lot of survivors as well, for the record) aren't thrilled with the change, they just think it's childish and unjust for them to be taking it out on other players.

I think @ocafghanistan wants a video, which I can get if I have 2 people available.
The math is this though if this will suffice, Self Care heals at 50% of the normal healing speed, so we'll go off of a default 50% as the healing speed, Botany Knowledge brings this back up to 83%, Resilience brings this up to 92%, Spine-Chill brings this up to 98%, and last Leader adds another 25% at Tier lll, making it 122%... meaning it's about I don't know, 72% faster than the normal healing speed? Since you take away 50% due to Self Care only being HALF of the "default healing speed".
Almost. Leader adds 25% speed, not 24%, so the total would be 123%.
Which is 23% faster than the default healing speed, because the default is 100% (you already accounted for Self-Care being half-speed at the start of your calculation, so I'm not sure where the 72% came from.)EDIT: I realise that by "default" you meant "default Self-Care speed" not "default healing speed". The wording of the comment was somewhat ambiguous. In that case, you're pretty much right, just a small addition error with Leader 😊
