I don't see a trusted tag next to names. Maybe because I'm on mobile? And I have no idea what PFP is.

Ah, yeah the tags aren't visible on mobile. That will probably change with the new forum update - as I understand it, it's supposed to be a significant improvement to the mobile interface. For now, though, I can tell you that all of the eight people I mentioned above are Trusted. Basically anyone with a red profile picture (with LordGlint being the only exception currently).

Also, PFP is just an abbreviation for "Profile Picture" or "Profile Pic" 😊

@Peanits I'd like to be a Trusted member, what can I do? Just keep on my regular activity in forums? Or do I have to apply? I think I comply with what the post @Fibijean quoted says, but maybe that's just my perception

The Trusted members are chosen by the community team, which I believe includes moderators and Community Managers like Peanits. You can't apply for it, they decide themselves if they want to offer it to you. So just keep up your regular activity, being kind and helpful on the forums, and eventually you may get noticed and invited to join the program 😊 That's pretty much all I did (I'm currently the newest of the Trusted members, having joined the program last November).

Lol. Apparently I'm the only one who has no idea who has the trusted status on here.

There are currently eight Trusted members - myself, GrootDude, Boosted_Dwight, FireHazard, Elk, Boss, twistedmonkey and NMCKE. As LordGlint mentioned, they (we) can be distinguished by the "Trusted" tag that appears next to our username on each comment.

    *Sad snorting noises* 🐷πŸ˜₯

  • I generally just judge that sort of thing by the post count, but I guess having tags like that couldn't hurt. It depends on the limitations of the tagging system - for example, you don't want to have too many tags if there's no way to stop them being automatically applied to every thread a tagged person comments on, because otherwise all the threads will have a billion tags attached to them and the main page could get pretty messy-looking.

As for how to acquire one of the existing tags, in order to be Trusted you just need to be a standout member on the forums. Some qualities they look for are positivity, activity, helpfulness, and an ability to disagree civilly without insulting or putting anyone down. You can find more information about the program and how to be a part of it here: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/89809/pilot-the-trusted-members#latest

  • No one knows but the devs, and they're not going to reveal a date until it's ready. Hopefully sooner rather than later, though.

I think you are completely right, and there’s a reason for that: momentum shift

the Early Game phase is when survivors and killers are still placing their pieces on the board - survivors are trying to push the first generators and the killer is trying to find them, understand their play style and possibly break a few pallets. The momentum is revolving around discovery (of the generators, of the survivors, of the totems, of the rng spawns..).

in the Mid Game almost everything has been discovered, and it’s time to be more tactical in which generators to complete to avoid a 3 gen situation, which survivor should be chased to optimise the team hook states, which survivor the killer should chase to avoid wasting its time. The momentum is about resources optimisation.

in the Late Game every mistake is paid with blood, since survivors are on their last hook and/or if a key generator is completed the last one will be nearly impossible to defend. The momentum is about defence over offence.

Every momentum shift happens more or less when you stated: first couple of hooks or generators / survivors on last hook or last couple of generators / time in between

I agree with you, that sounds like quite a reasonable explanation. It's all about what's driving the game at each point, what each role's priorities are, and where the balance of power sits between the two.

Who says that the Susie story not had happened after the Janitor?

Their original story lets anyways enough room for events like that. As example, people say often that the Legion is 19, but I think this wrong, because if you read their story - all the things they have make there are not possible to do in a few days.

They were probally 1 or 2 years aged before they entered the entity realm, after their story starts.

But back to Susie - It makes sense that she felt after the janitor as she would have to prove something. That she is not weak and not worthless. That she is equal to the rest of the gang.

The rest of the Legion has maybe not felt so, but she has still her own feelings and maybe thought that she needed to prove something.

I like the theory, but unfortunately I think the lore makes it pretty clear that they were taken pretty much immediately after the janitor incident. They were in the process of burying his body when it happened.

Personally, I think there is room for the OP's theory that Susie was okay with incapacitating people but drew the line at actual murder. Being stabbed in the back isn't usually fatal, and we know from the lore that the group spent a lot of time together getting up to all sorts of minor crimes, Susie included.

  • How do we know he doesn't have a total dad bod though?

  • I think this is actually a pretty good idea. That way, people can play up to the last second if they want to see how far they can progress, and then decide whether to buy the pass on that basis.

  • I would be very surprised if that isn't part of their plan already.

    This was a fake answer.

The real answer as we now know is, "We intend to remove ranks all together and hide it in the lobby and end game screen, so nobody can complain any more and we can be lazy and not care. PLZ BUY COSMETICS!!"

You know that the thing about hiding ranks in the endgame screen was based on an unofficial source and not stated anywhere by BHVR, right? It's not actually happening.

  • I'm not sure it's really necessary. The reason medium vaults were introduced on windows was to make looping them harder, or even impossible. The killer themselves can make it harder for survivors to loop them around a pallet by just... breaking the pallet. No need to slow down the animation when you can prevent them from doing it altogether.

  • Have you already tried restarting the game and/or your machine?

  • @thehiredkilla34 said:

My damn ass lmao I unlocked it last month lmao my bad πŸ˜‚

Lol! Glad you got it sorted 😊

  • The way I perceive it, the midgame starts after the second or third hook, or after the equivalent of two generators has been completed. Anything before that is early game. (The reason I say "the equivalent of two generators" is because the generator counter can be deceptive as a game stage indicator if significant progress has also been made on uncompleted generators).

Mid-game lasts until there are only 1-2 generators left, or until the killer has achieved about eight hooks. At that point, the game enters the late game.

The late game lasts until either three people are dead, or all generators are completed. I refer to anything from that point onwards as the endgame (which includes, but is not limited to, the EGC).

Again, this is just the way I perceive it in my head, other people may have slightly different definitions for each stage.

Well then IMO something needs to be done about it, because in the current matchmaking system it is a nightmare.

I don't even know how they can track who dodges anyway... I mean killers dodge all the time. Why aren't they being held by the same standard? While that is besides the point, it is a fair one, nonetheless.

This is one of the most frustrating things in Solo queues because the one who gets the short end of the stick is the person who is not in a swf group.

What seems counter-productive to me is that when they made the change that the highest rank would determine the rank of the killer, they specifically stated that they felt their "High Rank" friends can guide/mentor (can't remember the exact verbiage) them during the match, well how is that possible for me as a High Rank to mentor someone when I don't even know who needs mentoring.

It just shouldn't be this complicated.

I agree, as I said I think the feature was a net good because for me personally, it allowed me to know what to expect of my teammates and what my own role was likely to be. If I got someone from grey ranks on my team, I customised my build with perks like Borrowed Time and Babysitter so that I could take some of the aggro off them and help them escape.

I do think lobby dodging shouldn't be encouraged, and I do think all players should be held to the same standard. It's possible that the devs have plans to remedy that in the future and this is just one of the first steps, I don't know 🀷 There's definitely more work to be done, though, and I expect they are aware of that.

  • I am generally of the same viewpoint, which is why I'm altogether against the change.

But no need to tag Peanits, he's answered this exact question before and I can show you his response:

    image.png

Just because we didn't personally see people dodging lobbies doesn't mean it wasn't happening. In fact, I've seen a lot of people on these forums saying things to the effect of "I wish they had left it in because it let me know when to dodge".

Basically, the reasoning behind the change is lobby dodging increases queue times, and since the devs are currently making efforts to reduce queue times, allowing a feature to remaining the game which indirectly increased them would be counter-productive to that goal.

As I said, I personally don't agree with the decision since I think that even taking that into consideration, the feature was a net good, but I understand why they felt it was necessary to remove it.

I personally find it hard to consider it Taking the Game Hostage as it was the SURVIVOR'S CHOICE, to do 4 gens in other areas. The KILLER does NOT CHOOSE what gens get completed so if they let themselves get 3 gen stratted that's their choice.

On that note, it still sucks and to the survivors it does feel that way, but at the end of the day they did it to themselves. Thats why Deja Vu got reworked, if you 3 gen strat yourself too often, you need to look into the perk to see how 3 gens strats can develop

Patrolling a 3-gen isn't holding the game hostage, but preventing your opponent from completing their objective while intentionally not progressing your own objective is. That's the problem with the situation here, not the fact that the survivors 3-genned themselves.

You're missing the satirical point of my post.

"Addressing" - like how they address everything. By avoiding the things people are really wanting to know, and focusing on/deflecting to a random, but still semi relevant side point. Even you can't deny they do this, and with ruin it's been ten-fold.

Yes, I got that point. My point is that that was not actually the word they used themselves, so I'd be careful about how far you read into it.

  • I think the main reason we don't have different game modes, as @Mat_Sella hinted above, is because we don't have a large enough playerbase to support multiple queues. If we had hundreds of thousands of players and queue times were always pretty much instant no matter where you are or what time it is, then the game might be able to handle having multiple queues for different game modes. As things stand at the moment, though, there's no way to really do something like that without the player experience suffering considerably outside of matches.

  • My word, not theirs. If you want the direct quote, here it is:

We will be talking about the Hex: Ruin change at the start of the show. Your question may be included in this section.

  • Currently, the Doctor is considered quite weak in chase, largely because of the one second it takes him to switch between stances. While I'm aware that the new three-second cooldown is planned to be reduced, unless it is reduced to less than one second it would surely only amplify the existing issues with his chase potential. So my question is, what was the reasoning behind making such a change?

  • @ReallyBigShoe said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1002992#Comment_1002992

Your first mistake was thinking a ruin question would have been one of the hand picked questions answered.

They did specifically say in the post that they will be addressing the Ruin changes at the start of the stream.

  • @valkier121 said:

@Fibijean thanks for answering ❀️ and yea I did just that and had got into queue within 5 seconds. Then again my ranks are different for survivor and killer. I will say, Its making me play killer alot more then usual, which I don't mind as long as I know it's getting other people into matches quicker. I always respected killers but now I respect them a whole lot more since it's a circle, survivors need killers and killers need survivors. I kinda always thought that the majority of people preferred playing killer. Boy was I wrong lol

I think they did, for a while. Recent changes have turned a lot of people off playing killer, I think. Which is great for those that still want to, because now they get super fast queue times!

  • I think the point is to keep queues balanced. If ranks never reset, then it would only be a matter of time before everyone climbed all the way to top ranks, and then queue times at lower ranks would be incredibly long. So that's the theory behind it - whether it actually accomplishes that as it currently stands is very much debatable.

  • I've decided to extend the survey for another day or two because we're only a few dozen entries off the target sample size of 1000 🀞 I feel like it's worth aiming for since it would be a good round baseline to go off and also make percentage-based statistics easier to understand in context.

I forgot about that! It makes me question if I want to use a pallet on her because I don’t want to hurt her <_<.

I also like Sexy Mamas tantrum when she gets stunned.

The best stun sound I think is Wraith, it’s just so animalistic and terrifying. Like yup, I just pissed him off, I better run and hide because he’s gonna tear me a new one.

Wraith's sound is cute too, he sounds like an elephant :3

  • The little squeak Pig makes when she gets stunned is the cutest thing. I also like listening to the Huntress throwing a straight-up tantrum when she gets stunned.

Also, Elf Dwight's little bells. There's something so wholesome and cheery about it. I once almost sacrificed an Elf Dwight, but the merry jingling of his outfit made me change my mind and carry him to the gate instead.

Thanks for your response 😊 Did you take the survey as well?

Regarding the Rift, I agree that it was nice to have another objective to spice things up and feel like you were working towards something between games other than just levelling characters. What kind of interesting and cool stuff would you have wanted to see?

  • Assuming you're suggesting that the devs should follow through with the most popular ideas, I would be very much opposed to this. The reason being that most players actually don't know the first thing about game design or game balance, and experience playing a game does not always correlate to understanding of its mechanics and structure from a balance perspective.

Basically, most people don't know what they're talking about. You only need to glance at the world in general, not to mention its history, to know that just because something is popular does not make it good.

The first one was exactly like the one there's now. Rocket League's pass was user friendly from the start.

I just don't understand when there have been multiple examples of passes that work, like Rocket League or Fornite's. And there already have been multiple examples of passes that just completely failed until altered completely, Apex for example. That they take the route of battle passes that received the criticism that they get now, gain the same feedback that all the other fails have gotten, and now have to alter it to appeal to people again.

Like we have a saying where I live, "It is better to steal something good then to invent something bad"

I'm not really sure what the research process was like, they haven't really shared much about that side of things. Perhaps they wanted to forge their own path, or perhaps they simply didn't do a lot of research into what has worked and what hasn't in other systems.

They did seem to genuinely believe that it would be completable in about an hour of playtime per day, which I suspect was without taking things like queue times into account. My guess would therefore be that it's a matter of the preliminary research and testing not being done thoroughly enough. Which in my opinion is actually a good thing - obviously, it would have been ideal if they'd gotten it right from the start, like Rocket League apparently did, but since they didn't, the fact that their fault was more likely ignorance than arrogance means they're much more likely to be able to improve upon it in future iterations.

  • The servers aren't down, but there are a lot of possible causes. Assuming you usually queue at the same rank at around the same time of day and get good queues, the likely culprit is either rank reset or a bugged lobby.

Sometimes the game gets bugged and you won't enter the matchmaking queue, so if you're waiting in a queue for an hour I would recommend restarting your game and see if that fixes it.

If you don't usually queue at this time, though, that could also be the issue. Midday on a Wednesday isn't really peak hour for people playing video games, since many players have other commitments during the day. Try playing in the evening or on the weekend and see if your queue times improve.

I wasn't rude, maybe my post was a bit long, but that's extremely bias compared to old posts in the past, and that's stupid. I'm sorry, but my patience with the shenanigans is running thin...

How is it biased? They're just removing comments that don't conform to the rules laid out at the start of the thread. As I mentioned, my question, which had nothing to do with the Ruin changes, also got removed. Another possibility is that they're removing duplicate questions, since they don't really need 10 different questions asking about the exact same thing, like why they changed Ruin for example.

  • Your question was probably removed because it went against the guidelines outlined in the original Q&A post. My question was also removed from that thread - not sure if it was because it was too long, or because it was one question with several parts which probably seemed like multiple questions.

But if your question was rude towards the devs, if you asked more than one question at once, or if you went into too much detail, it's likely that the mods removed it for that reason. It's not a censorship thing - my question was about Doctor, had nothing to do with Ruin - the mods are just being quite strict on the rules in that thread in order to cut down on the CMs' workload for when they have to go through the entire thing in preparation for the stream.

It's not a matter of listening to everyone, which wouldn't be feasible, it's the fact that big things such as MOM slip through that makes people look at the devs with distrust.

And the latest dev update was so biased it only aggravated things.

I understand all of that, and if the argument being made here was that things sometimes go live which shouldn't, I would agree with it. But that's not the argument OP is making, they're saying that there is no point to having a PTB because the devs don't make any changes based on player criticism during the PTB anyway, or at least that they don't take feedback on the most heavily criticised changes, which is simply not true.

Maybe the player himself chooses what to wear this or that character and by lore?

The players aren't really part of the lore themselves, unless you're suggesting that the characters themselves choose their outfits. Which is possible, but it's also possible that the Entity dresses them. We don't really have enough information about how it works to draw any definite conclusions around that.

  • Yes, those two perks should synergise the way you're imagining, unless there's some bug or hidden feature that stops them from doing so. You can always test it out ingame and let us know if it works for sure!

Legion, MoM, Nurse base kit, Oni flick.

If I'm not mistaken, people told them there's something wrong with these things during the PTB and they ignored it.

There's also a huge amount that they haven't ignored. it's simply not true that they don't listen to negative criticism from the PTB, just because they don't do everything that the players say. Mutliple adjustments made to the Oni's power (including, but not limited to, the flick, which was commented on in the PTB and nerfed accordingly, although they admitted the nerf was too far and have now adjusted it in the new patch), the Demogorgon being able to break pallets with Shred, the BOP/Deep Wound issue and doubling the nerfs on instaheals are a few notable recent examples.

I'm new to the forum. How likely is it that this gets the attention of a dev?

It's likely that a dev will read it. They won't necessarily respond, but that doesn't mean they haven't noticed it. They frequently go through the posts in the Feedback subcategory and take reasonable ideas like this one back to the design team for discussion, but they usually don't comment on a thread and say, "we're going to suggest this to the design team" or give updates on any internal discussions that might have taken place. Occasionally, they will take the time to comment and give their personal opinion on an idea, but most of the time they just stalk the forum silently and read the posts without making any input.
