Why have 4 characters? it would be better to just have 2 character from the same chapter so you don't have to switch between 4 characters all the time. Like why have doctor and Jane be there when they barely get anything. Doctor only has one charm and Jane has 2

    Because if they only did 2 characters per rift, then it would take literal YEARS before we got lore content for some characters. This speeds up the process a little more. I will say I am disappointed that Jane and doctor didn’t get their own doll charms..

    As mentioned, it's probably to speed up the process of expanding the lore for every character. It's possible that another reason for it is to diversify the challenges a little bit - with two killers and two survivors, people are likely to only get half as sick of playing with or against them as they did of Trapper and Claudette during the last Rift.
