Great summary post I'm glad someone took the time to type it out.

I'm glad they answered my question with such detail but I'm wondering based on my question how many questions they re-phrased and why.

Even if they don't plan to make Snap Out Of It a healing action I'm glad they took a stance on it even just to clarify.

I think they rephrased any questions which were longer than about 20 words, and the main reason they did it was so that it would fit on the screen during the stream. However, they made reference at several points to parts of the original questions that weren't on-screen, so I think they probably had the original questions written down in the notes in front of them.

So basically, even though the questions as they were read out on stream were rephrased a lot, I believe the developers who were answering the questions did actually see what was originally asked in full.

  • Having one killer and one survivor challenge active simultaneously is an idea that's been suggested several times in the past. I personally don't see a problem with it, and think it would be a good QOL change if the team are able to program it in without any problems. I would recommend making a post in the Feedback subforum (link below) to suggest it, since that's where it's most likely to be seen by the devs.

Sorry for late reply. I think it may have been u that said to play killer. I wont play killer at all the reason for that is in one of the replys. I normally have on average no more than 3 hours a day on it as by the time i get home from work have my tea it 9pm and in bed for 12 so yer its about 3 hours i may get a push of 5 maybe 6 games a day and thats it i managed on last rift to get to level 35. I will see about spend maybe just and extra hour a day on and see how far that takes me i really want to finish a rift just takes alot of time. Thank you tho and everyone else for all of ur feed back its great to hear what other people think if they find it difficult or easy enough to complete

You should absolutely be able to complete the Rift with three hours a day, but that is if you do every challenge in the Tome. If you're not able to do killer challenges for whatever reason, they you might have a hard time, because that's a good 15-20 tiers you'll miss out on that you'll have to grind manually. But do your best, I'm cheering for you πŸ™Œ

  • Queue times aren't only dependent on how many people are playing, although that is important, but also which roles they're playing, and that's not really something that the devs can affect without forcing people into queues for different roles.

To answer your other question, the reason Fortnite has instant queues and DBD doesn't is, firstly, because Fortnite has millions more players online at any given time, and secondly, because Fortnite is a free-for-all and doesn't have roles it needs to fill with particular numbers of players in each game, so it can just place the first however many players it finds into a lobby without having to match them up with others from different queues (I am aware that Fortnite has rank-based matchmaking, but my point is that DBD has both rank-based and role-based matchmaking, which inevitably lengthens queue times because there are more conditions to be satisfied).

    Hey @Fibijean

If its alright with you, could you tag me when the stats go live, I'm very interested in seeing them :)

Sure thing! They're taking a little while because the data entry is quite time-consuming and life stuff has been getting in the way, but I'm definitely still working on them and will let you know when they're ready πŸ‘οΈ

    DEATH TO MOO-MOO

Thanks a ton for this. Really helps to get all this info without having to watch the whole stream.

No worries! But what did Moo-Moo ever do to you? D:

  • @twistedmonkey said:

Wow always on the ball and going above and beyond. Huge thanks for taking the time to write all this up.

I think you should become the official stream writer as its always on point with every little detail includes. Great work as always for the community.

If they want to hire me I won't complain πŸ˜‹ But thank you, I do my best! There's always too much misinformation floating around, so I'm glad to be able to make a positive difference in that way.

  • @Boss said:

I gotta point out: They can disable maps.

Badham Preschool is disabled because of issues.

Thank you, but this makes me question: Couldn't this be done with Sloppy Butcher & "Blind Warrior" - White when they were bugged on Wraith?

Or Legion with some problems they had with their Add-ons?

I'd really like to see this disabling be applied to future bugged/problematic equipment, not just maps.

Yeah, I'm not entirely sure why they haven't disabled bugged add-ons in the past. The only explanation that comes to mind is that they can disable offerings more easily than they can add-ons for some reason, but I'm not sure why that would be.

  • By the way, I'd love to thank everyone individually for the support because it really does make a big difference to know that this was helpful to people - it makes it feel like all the work I put into it was worth it! But I don't want to spam the thread so I'll just say thank you very much to @Elk, @illusion, @oxygen, @PyroDude, @Boosted_Dwight, @Sonzaishinai, @PrettyFaceKate and @BenZ0 for the encouraging words ❀️ I'm glad I was able to help 😊

  • Why can't you just relax and lose for a change? Killer mains smh.

Thanks for all your work. It's nice to have an accurate transcript of the Q&A because I've seen too many people misinterprete or freak out against one change while failing to consider the Q&A as a whole.

Edit: Ignore the tag @Fibijean I was mistaken. Also does anyone know how to remove tags because I don't.

Thank you! That's why I do it, because I think it's always important to make sure we get our facts straight when we're discussing things like what the devs have said about certain topics, and it's good to have a reference for when that happens. It's human nature, so a lot of people fall into the trap of confusing their interpretation of what was said with what was actually said, and sometimes impressions can be quite misleading.

Also I didn't get a chance to read your comment before you edited it, so whatever you said originally, it's all good! Not sure what you mean about removing tags, though - if you mean the part where you @ me, you can just delete it like any ordinary piece of text.

Thank you again for making these threads they are a bloody tremendous help in cataloging and storing the information in the dev streams

Honestly the moderators need to make a pinned mega thread which links to everyone of your Dev stream breakdowns, for posterity at the very least

Thank you for the kind words, that's very sweet 😊 The last one I made got pinned for a few days, but it's basically up to the mods if they feel it's helpful enough to be worth highlighting.

How long did it take for you to type this up, lol?

I actually had to rewatch it on Youtube to see what they said about my question. Lil man started crying, so I gt up to fix him a bottle, came back and saw them wrapping up with mine.

This one took about 5 hours, I think. Last time took six, but I went in blind and had to pause it a lot more. I think the note-taking part was quicker this time around because I watched it twice - I listened to the stream while I was traveling today, and then I watched it again to write notes when I got home.

  • @asergioam said:

I actually noticed when they talked about level II of tome 1, the 2 recues at the end. It was actually in level 3 of tome 1.

I have to confess that I fast forwarded parts of the stream (only saw after it had ended) and is very good that you keep this iniciative @Fibijean the information gets easier to search. TY

You're right, they must have got that wrong. Upon reflection, I don't think I'll edit the post, though, as I'd rather keep the information accurate to the stream, even if the stream was wrong.

I agree with you about the upcoming months. After the last survey which asked about the desire for Cross Save/Play. They quickly implemented the Windows to Steam cross play. I feel those Surveys are more about determining the community's overall interest in such thing's then the overall if they want to or not. I feel they probably have had it in the work's similar to how the rift was asked about, but still thrown out despite the mass majority seemingly uninterested.

Either way we will see what happens. was fun chatting as always.

PS. would love to one day see the stat's of the first RIFT and each tome.

I don't remember if I've told you about this before or not, so forgive me if I have, but if you're interested in completion stats for the first Rift, I should have some stats along those lines published within the next few weeks, based on a community survey with 1000+ respondents I conducted after the first Rift closed.

  • @illusion Just so you know, I've just finished summarising the whole stream, so you can go check that out if you're interested in knowing what happened: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/123532/i-watched-the-dev-stream-so-you-dont-have-to-once-again#latest

Its not that i have a problem with it i love the new add on to the whole game it stops it from getting stale and boring when ur challenged to complete the tomb i was asking the question of how do people feel about the grind of the rift. I as a survivor main and do not play killer at all is due to personal reasons and the amount of stress and anxiety it causes me when playing the killer side. I have tried so many times to do play killer but my mind set at the moment wont allow it, so im stuck with survivor what i began with and felt that i was able to play that role. I was just asking basically if anyone was having the same problems as iam going about there everyday life and trying there best to complete the rift. Ok so lets rephrase my question how are people managing to complete the rift? How many hours a day would it take for everyone else to finish the rift by the 70th day. This is what the question should of been and if they play both sides or just one side.

Okay, I understand. Well, for me personally, I did all the challenges and it took me around 170 hours to complete the entire Rift. I didn't find it too grindy, but I know a lot of people did.

I recently conducted a community survey on this very topic, asking about whether people completed the Rift, how long it took them, how many challenges they completed, etc. It got over 1000 responses, which I'm currently in the process of compiling into a spreadsheet so that I can extract meaningful data from them. I will be publicly sharing as much data from the survey as I can when I'm done, so look out for that in the next week or two if you're interested in Rift completion stats 😊

  • There was a lot there, a couple of things that I personally found very interesting. I'm working on my usual livestream summary post right now, so if you're interested in finding out what was said without watching the stream, that should be along in a few hours!

  • We're not expected to play 1400 games to complete the Rift. The Rift and Tome are designed as a set, with the intention that you should be able to complete the Rift by completing the Tome. If you're so opposed to playing a bit of the other role that you would rather grind for dozens of hours, that's your decision, but it's not how the system was designed. In other words, if you have problems with the design of the Tome then that's fair enough, but outside of the Tome, the Rift is only as grindy as you make it.

That's true so I'll just end it with this statement

I thought I heard someone mention that the Devs had decided to no longer do any future events.

I'm included to believe that from how the rift had been going.

On topic Pig had event chase music?

More accurately, they've decided not to do events the way they have in the past, with secondary objectives and such, for the foreseeable future. That doesn't mean that events will never return, just that there aren't any such plans at the moment.

And no, Pig didn't have special chase music for the event, I think OP is just requesting that the menu music from the Summer BBQ event be repurposed as chase music for the Pig.

It's only doc tho. It never worked for me against doc. In that thread they specify all killers.

They say that because they're not 100% sure that it's only Doctor yet. By all means, make a Bug Report and specify that the problem is only happening to you against Doctor, I'm sure they'll find it helpful when troubleshooting the issue.

It's not boring and pointless for me though. I hook the last one alive if I hook one they may get off hook an md if they don't ai can't keep track of the one with the most health.

You still lose a huge amount of potential bloodpoints, avoid ranking up, and deprive yourself of the majority of what makes the game fun for most killers. But I suppose if you find fun and fulfilment in waiting for four minutes while other people lie on the ground, then hooking one and ending the game... you do you. Different strokes, and all that.

  • This is a known issue, and the devs are currently working on a fix: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/122269/reported-issues-3-5-0#latest

  • Why didn't you hook them, though? I mean, I understand slugging as a strategy, but slugging everyone until they bleed out is boring and pointless - in more ways than one - for everyone involved, yourself included.

  • And they're always going to think he's OP as long as they refuse to practice playing against him.

Have you considered that they play the game a lot and enjoy it and therefore want to continue to support it here and there so the game can continue to be played?

I'm nearing 900hours played since I bought the game 15 months ago. I've spent around $200 by now. That means I've gotten more than four hours of fun for every dollar I've spent. No other game or piece of entertainment has ever given me that much value before.

I certainly don't mind throwing them another $10 for a rift pass that will give me back every single auric cell I spent to get it plus a ton of cosmetics.

I think you may have quoted the wrong comment. I'm not the one who has a problem with the Rift pass.

  • I think sabotaging hooks is a game mechanic, and playing the game is not toxic. Using the tools you have at your disposal to do well in the game is not toxic. If sabotaging hooks served no tactical advantage and did nothing except ruin the game for the other player, then maybe you could call it toxic, but that's not the case.

It's nice that you want to look out for other players' fun, and it's decent of you to apologise and try to explain yourself. It's always good, I think, to try to make sure the other players also have a good time, given the opportunity and if you can afford to do so without throwing the game yourself. But no, you weren't being toxic, and really, he needs to get over it and move onto the next game instead of going out of his way to send accusatory messages. Having hooks sabotaged in front of your face isn't much fun. Neither is being tunneled or camped. But it's also just part of the game, and not really worth giving yourself or other people grief over.

I didnt insult anyone, and it is exactly that kind of business practice. Just because you fall prey to it and accept it doesnt make that less true.

Making money is one thing, but when they already have 100+ in dlc, and 10-20$ skins, battlepass isnt a "need to make money", it's an EXCUSE to. If dbd was free to play, or had feasibly attainable on game cosmetics that didnt cost 15$ a battlepass may be more justified as a "way to make money".

What's immoral is trying to prey on peoples FOMO, or hiding EVENT skins behind a paywall, simply because you KNOW people will pay for it and DEFEND a ######### practice because behaviour can do no wrong.

I could have ground out the pass, but I dont want to play dbd for 6-8 hours a day when it takes 20 mins to find a survivor lobby that doesnt get dodged.

Not in this state of the game.

Like I said, anecdotal accounts dont counter other anecdotal accounts. Seeing a bp in multiple games for exactly what it is, however, is easy to figure out.

I never said you couldnt have a positive experience with it, just that those who believe they did, fell for behaviours trick. Period. I'm sorry that you seem to fall into that group.

And if THAT insults you, then you're taking it too personally which means you know I'm 100% correct.

So if a person is insulted by someone else essentially saying that they're gullible, financially irresponsible and have no self control, that means they're admitting that the other person is correct?

That makes absolutely no sense, but okay.

  • I think it's very much a matter of personal preference. Personally, I feel that if you complete the pass, even if you only kinda like the premium rewards, it's still worth getting because you get all the cells back immediately.

As a general rule, I would recommend that you wait until you're at a point on the free track where you can say to yourself, "If I bought the premium pass right now and didn't progress any further, I would be happy with the rewards I've already unlocked". If you feel the pass is only worth it if you get your cells back, wait until you get all your cells back before purchasing it. If you would happily pay $10 just for the three charms at the very start, then by all means buy the pass right away. But don't buy it based on where you think you might end up, because then you're just setting yourself up for disappointment.

It was never intended for actual players at all. It was intended for those who cant atop themselves from spending money or grinding out 70 hours a week to make sure they dont "miss out" on something. Hours those people wouldnt normally play, or be tempted to skip with cash. The rift was intended to lure people in and drain their wallets. Just as in fortnite, rocket league, smite, siege, or any other game that has one. Sure some are easier to complete than others, but they all aim to get cash out of you.

It's okay if the Rift wasn't for you, or you found it too grindy, but surely you can share your views without simultaneously insulting everyone who did have a positive experience with it. Also, it's not in some way wicked and immoral for a business to want to make money, which seems to be what you're implying.

Typically BHVR employees use the logo so i didn't realize that a BHVR employee responded.

The mods aren't BHVR employees, since they don't get paid, but they are affiliated with the company. They have direct lines of communication to the developers, and access to a degree of insider knowledge. So anything a mod tells you can generally be trusted as being official information.

10 tiers is approximately 40-50 games if that’s correct? Assuming you stay alive (survivor) for x amount of time. How does this affect casual players?

If you're asking how many games it would take to grind out 10 tiers' worth of XP, the answer is closer to around 120 games on average, or about 20 hours of gameplay (as a very rough estimate). The Rift was never intended for casual players, of course, but it is a serious chunk of added time for anyone.

  • Usually, it lasts for the whole weekend (until Monday). There are unofficial leaks floating around which seem to confirm that, but no official information yet on how long the free weekend will last.

  • To add to the above, not only are the DLC characters not required to complete the other Tome challenges, they're also not required to complete the Rift. However, you will miss out on about 10 tiers' worth of progress if you skip all the challenges which require a DLC character or DLC perks, which you will have to make up for by grinding XP.

  • No, Overcharge specifically applies its effect only when a killer performs the "Damage Generator" action.

No it doesnt. The point is the devs have every right to use every aspect of theyre game. If you chose not to get dlc then you chose not to do those challenges

Just because the devs have the right to do whatever they like with the game - and they do - doesn't mean that the players have to like it, or that they're not allowed to respectfully express their dissatisfaction with a particular feature. Constructive criticism is not only healthy for the game but actively welcomed and encouraged by the developers themselves. Not to mention it's in their best interests as a business to do their best to deliver an enjoyable and player-friendly experience since if they don't, as @thrawn3054 pointed out, they're likely to lose customers as a result.

Reminds me of the game where the killer called me and three other survivors toxic try-hards.

Meanwhile I thought I had canceled matchmaking as I went AFK (I did hit the button and it did say I was no longer searching for a match) only to come back later inside a game, with 3 crows around my head and two generators done and a Dwight pointing at me.

It's reverse psychology. Only a true tryhard would try so hard that they're not even playing the game.

  • Wait.. the Ruin changes were your doing? I had no idea. Everyone has been asking the developers why they made the changes and it turns out they had nothing to do with it all along. I wonder how the killers you faced caught wind of such a closely-guarded secret.

  • I believe the terror radius is essentially spherical, as the name implies - by definition, a radius extends outwards from the centre of a circle (squares don't have radii). Basically, imagine that the killer is at the centre of a giant bubble, and anyone inside that bubble can hear the heartbeat.

EDIT: Appears I was beaten to it, several times over. The point about spheres/bubbles still applies, though.

To be honest, I haven't seen that much since the weekend. But this weekend it was a bit abusive.

PS: I didn't know people had a name for it. Does KOBE stands for something like, are it initials for some frase or something?

I've seen a lot of it playing killer today. People keep coming up to me trying to get me to sacrifice them. I had one person let themselves die to a RBT because I refused to hook them.

And actually... I don't know where the term "kobe" comes from. It's not an acronym - I just did a quick Google, and apparently it's named after basketball player Kobe Bryant, because the self-unhook animation looks, or used to look, like him doing a jump shot (he kind of swings his legs out in front of him when he does it). The more you know.

  • The event hooks and generators are purely cosmetic this year. They don't give extra bloodpoints like those in the Withering Blight.

  • Right now, a lot of people are doing it not because they want to escape, but because they've finished their challenge and they want to die and move onto the next match as soon as possible.

I thought it had to be actual kills as well.

Maybe it needs to be reworded. Seems a number of people are reading it as kills because the number of moris going around since the rift started has increased drastically.

It does specifically say "by any means". I'm not sure how they could reword it to be clearer than that, short of listing every single valid kill type.

  • I know how you feel. We don't know when it will be fixed, but hopefully there will be a hotfix in the next week or two addressing the known issues from this patch.

  • @BenZ0 said:

Ye I am not saying you are lying xD. I know what you mean and I though about the exact same, wanted to get conformation about that from a mod or dev since everyone can tell their own experiences or storys. A official conformation is always better.

I understand the desire for an official confirmation, but do bear in mind that the devs are very busy, and even the Community Managers have a lot more than just the forums that requires their attention. So if it's something that other players are able to answer with complete certainty, like this question, it's best to avoid tagging them where they're not actually needed, because it diverts attention away from more pressing issues that actually do need a dev or mod to address them.

  • @JCDK said:

It isn't a bug? :D I've NEVER been rank 1 killer, the highest I've been is 7. Yet I just got it yesterday :D

It is a bug, and the devs are currently working on fixing it. If you've been granted the achievement by mistake, though, you can keep it, because achievements can't be reset or removed as far as I know.

  • It's only reportable if the other survivor is doing it on purpose. If they just happen to get in the way, yeah it's frustrating but there's no need to punish them for it. If they are intentionally sabotaging you, though, you need to not only report them after the match but also send a ticket to Support with their player ID and video evidence of what they did.
