  • Reminds me of one game I played a few weeks ago. I spent 30 mins in a SWF que on PS4 with an all red rank/purple rank team only to get a rank 19 nurse who was obviously new. I didn't even do much to her while running her around. Heck I was walking half the time, but they got so mad they DC'd. I don't blame them though, they should've gotten paired with people their rank because it would've been (hopefully) easier. That and the poor soul decided to play nurse with probably not a lot of practice from the way they were playing.

  • As someone who plays survivor 85% of the time but has enough experience for both sides I feel like I need to say some stuff. First off, SWF aren't really a big problem in my eye. I've had little to no problems killing them and when I play SWF all we really say is what killer it is and if the killer camps. We don't go all out and set up specific builds to piss the killer off. Secondly, if you can't apply gen pressure for the first few gens it doesn't mean you lose. If they don't have good gen placement they have a low chance of getting out as long as you've killed someone, and even if you haven't if you're a good enough killer you can pull it off. Plus gen speeds aren't that bad, it typically takes a minute or two to get one popped in my matches as killer. Third off, as killer I run perks that aren't all that aren't recommended for people with the same main but they work beautifully and I don't have to run it constantly to get 4ks. As survivor, I run the same build 90% of the time because the other perks either never work in my favor, or are extremely worthless in my opinion. Of course this is also based on play style so if I played differently I'd have different builds, which I've done for videos and it's about 50/50 when it comes to survival chances. Lastly, if you're playing a low tier killer and/or is on a unbalanced map then you have a lower chance of success based on what killer you are and whether the survivors are smart on that map or not. What I typically use is Spies from the Shadows, it's actually pretty underrated ngl and it's very helpful because one little notification can destroy the survivors in an instant. I also use Unrelenting, NOED, and I think Bloodhound. I keep on confusing the two with the wolf heads but whatever one makes the blood brighter, that's what I bring. (As a survivor main I used to complain bout NOED but I know how useful it can be sometimes, it's not always clutch because I can usually get more than half the people killed before EGC). The majority of the "Oh it's killer sided" and "Oh it's survivor sided" is based on view and personally I think that there are certain areas where it's killer sided and some areas were it's survivor sided, but i can definitely see both sides of the argument.

The mods aren't BHVR employees, since they don't get paid, but they are affiliated with the company. They have direct lines of communication to the developers, and access to a degree of insider knowledge. So anything a mod tells you can generally be trusted as being official information.

Makes sense, thank you for telling me this information! I don't usually use the forums so I am in the dark about certain things like the mods.

Dont play until it's fixed. Or you know exactly what you're risking.

I do YT and the one game I play 24/7 is DBD and I don't really have any other interesting games. I'd rather try and satisfy my small view count than continue my streak of not recording due to a bad net issue. If it gets really bad then I might stop but otherwise I'd rather not.

Typically BHVR employees use the logo so i didn't realize that a BHVR employee responded.

  • I'm not trying to ruin anyone's game, nor do I want to and I try my best to make it fun for everyone whether I play killer or survivor. My dad will not fix the router and will not let me because he believes he knows it all, though I have mentioned this issue several times. He blames it on the PS4 itself although I know that's not the case. The DC penalty will probably screw me over and I would love the idea of a rejoin button or something but we know that will not be implemented for several reasons. 1. Unless they have a timer for it then people will just join back during endgame or those that can't get their internet back online before the timer is just out of luck and 2. The join back will probably break the game even more. I wish there was a way to be able to say what DCs are purposeful or not but this is life I guess until I can get my dad to actually listen to me. Although a dev hasn't answered this I am thankful for those of you who answered my question about this.

  • @ZoneDymo said:

Think its time to maybe take over from dear old dad and set that router up properly.

My dad is the type that acts like a know it all and although I've mentioned this issue repeatedly he doesn't give a dang about it

  • the objective is to escape by any means necessary but the typical way we play the game we do the gens. If people find the hatch and have a key they go through there, or they wait of endgame and open an exit. DCing also counts as an escape so those that think gens are the primary objective of survivors, it's a "well yes but actually no" idea. The only reason survivors do gens is because it is seen as a faster method or the easiest route that can achieve the most bonus from it but if you think about it you could also act like that P3 Claudette that sits in a corner and does nothing until it's time to escape or you could run the killer around till the gens possibly get popped or they DC.

  • Im a rank 5 survivor that ended up with all rank 16 teammates and a rank 4 killer so I feel the pain

  • Im a survivor main that dabbles in a bit of killer. I agreed with some reworks but I hate the Nurses rework the most (I play nurse but I liked the older version a lot more) and Legion needs a full rework because of being nerfed to hell and back (also played Legion a bit). Spirit nerf actually isn't that bad and I still love playing her and doctor's rework is actually pretty decent. Freddy's rework is god tier and is fun when playing killer but oh boy it's a pain playing survivor. He needed it though (even though I rarely lived to them before I do think he kinda needed a bit more).

Well, he is the only DBD youtuber that doesnt get completely butthurt and blames everyone but himself when losing, he instead looks at what he did wrong and what could have get done better.

Noob3 and Puppers do the same. It's not that special.

  • As a survivor main that is rank 4 I can say that ruin wasn't a big problem for me and I agree it's survivor sided unless it can be kept up all game. It reaches it's full potential when there are only a few gens left that are more packed together, allowing for map pressure. Trapper, Hag, and Demogorgan will probably be the most effective at this. Reason being Demogorgan can teleport to check every so often (if survivors don't get rid of the portal, but then you know they're there), Hag will get a notification and most likely teleport there if survivors are stupid enough or don't notice the traps, and Trapper can just trap the hex so people have to close the trap to get the totem. Thrill of the Hunt will also be very useful as well. I do kinda think killers are overreacting a bit but it's a meta perk and we overreacted a bit when balanced got "nerfed" (I prefer the newer balanced I dont get why you guys hate it so much now.)

  • I'm not a killer main so please do not fight me for this. I like the changes for one sole reason: newer players was the reason ruin was nerfed (because of newer players getting punished for it since apparently people are bad at skillchecks when they start off). I can do great skillchecks quite often and I ignore ruin entirely unless I happen to stumble onto it. Other than that I see the ruin nerf pointless. The perk would neutral ground if it wasn't a hex, so this is a survivor sided perk until there are less generators closer together (which will force people to look for ruin and if you can guard ruin and apply pressure fast enough you'll be a god and this perk will probably be even better). As I said I'm a survivor main but I do believe the devs need to make this a normal perk for this to be more balanced, but we all know that the other survivors will complain about it.

  • I had a Dwight try and ban me for "not doing anything or trying to save him" Now heres how the game went: We all spawn together and there's a 3 man gen that I hop on. Me, being a sucker for Dwights, I get off and point to the gen and let him have it instead. I end up working on a different gen before theirs goes off and I get chased and hooked by a Trapper. I don't like Trapper bc I'm a trap magnet and it's pretty funny to watch me screech my head off about how many traps there are. Trapper isn't camping bc someone steps in a trap and another Meg comes to the rescue. I leave and Dwight gets hooked, Nea steps in a trap so I save. Dwight gets unhooked and for the next 2 gens (I worked on btw) I'm safe. I end up getting hooked because of stepping in a trap (no surprise there) and Dwight saves me but gets hooked soon after. Trapper is camping and I have BT but I know I'm not gonna get out of there with both of our lives but I had a plan. I was gonna lead the Trapper to me and use balanced (down the hole in Badham Preschool) and go back up to save if nobody did so already. Nea ended up ruining my plan by blocking my way, Dwight died on hook and I died 5 minutes later. Dwight then proceeds to say I did absolutely nothing the whole game and didn't try and save him (disregarding the fact I saved him the first time, he said it didn't matter that I saved him the first time because I didn't do it again).

  • I stream DBD on PS4 and I try not to be as toxic as I used to be, my name is mmorrow8 gaming, roleplays, and animations for those who would wanna check me out. I need some critiques on my play style and I wanna make sure I'm not as toxic as some people are. For some rlly good suggestions Noob3, Ohm, Puppers and Monto are all pretty great so I would definitely recommend them as well. I have some friends that aren't toxic on DBD either and are really funny but they don't stream sadly.

  • This is actually a really great idea, I would love to see this implemented into the game.

  • people that screw their team over or those who won't save. Im a survivor main and when I see survivors doing it when I play killer I exact my revenge by showing no mercy to them.

  • I hope he's better than nurse. I might switch to him if he's good because honestly they ruined nurse in my opinion. I could easily get a 4K on nurse before but now I'm having a bit of trouble because of the newer changes and i want our old nurse back. There were more nurse mains before the supposed buff than there are after. Let's all hope the doctor doesn't get ruined like nurse and then maybe you'll have another one join the ranks.

  • PS4 actually has some really nice Meg players (I for one am a decent example according to my friends). someone got knocked down due to NOED? I'm right there to save with BT and get them out. Someone is close and on dead hook? I try to bodyblock. Megs on PS4 are very similar to this the majority of the time and I don't see why that really varies from PC to console DBDs.

  • It's kinda funny that when I play survivor I used to get hella pissed at NOED but then I look at my spirit with unrelenting, spies from the shadows, bloodhound, and NOED and remember that the survivors I play against probably hate my guts for using it as well ๐Ÿ˜‚

  • When I play killer (which is not very often because im more a survivor main than anything) I typically play the ones that get ######### for existing (Spirit, Nurse, Michael, I have a few more but those are my main 3) and when I do bring a mori I use it on second hook and normally am a very nice killer to a group unless I see toxicity (not just the existing excuse. Teammates not unhooking until last minute on second hook even though I'm not a camper, sandbagging purposefully, overall being a dick to teammates because I understand the pain survivors go through. All items are fine for me and I don't feel like they are so bad in my book. Though I haven't used items that often or have seen those using them obnoxiously often) I sometimes don't even use my mori because I feel as if the person has been wronged or had done so much that they should be spared. Those who are ######### with moris and do it on first hook for the reason of "let's get this over with easily" are the reasons moris are unfair. The thing is though survivor mains will still complain even if we only allow it after second hook and will purposefully kill themselves on hook which will piss off the killer side. I'm sad some of my fellow survivors act this way and this makes me really sympathetic for you killer mains.

  • PS4 Oni is pretty bad though, I've won almost every match against him. But the majority if the killers were pretty awful in general, bad perks, worse rank (rank system is god awful since im rank 5 and being stuck with rank 12 killers) and awful gameplay (they were ok at mindgaming but not too good).

  • True. And he was a dealmaker that was trapped for a reason. He probably did kill someone before.

  • @CLAUDETTEINABUSH said:

Nice idea as power but doesn't fit into the dbd theme imo. Sorry :(

well traps or ranged worms being fired from the ground are kinda similar to Trapper, Freddy and Huntress though.

Beetlejuice isn't a murderer. At least we don't see it in the movie. Second, he's not scary and not meant to be.

Did we watch different movies?!? He straight up tried to murder a couple of people... Not saying he'd be good in DBD, but he's no angel.

yeah he tried to kill a family and 2 ghosts didn't he? At least that's what i remember

  • I'm actually suprised I haven't gotten any messages about being potentially toxic. I know I used to Tbag on occasion (if the killer was being a #########, I don't do it at all anymore) and I flashlight blind at pallets since I'm not entirely great at looping and somewhat good at dodging (I'm a PS4 player so it doesn't help that much). I help my team, I unhook survivors being camped, I run Borrowed, Balanced, Deliverance, and Self Care, and if I feel bad for the killer I sometimes stay behind to let them kill me. So I'm surprised that on either side I haven't gotten messages calling me toxic. Just ones calling me stupid or one's thanking/telling me how good a player I am.

  • The Meg stereotype is bullshit. Im an altruistic Meg that plays her because of 3 reasons. 1. I like her cosmetics. 2. My name is Megan. and 3. she looks like me.

  • If someone is getting injured I 99 the doors and leave to help but if nobody is injured I just 99 and wait for a heartbeat to open it. It's a decent strat in my book (I'm a PS4 player if it makes any difference). I don't understand why people are stupidly just keeping the doors shut but I also dislike the idea of leaving the door open, I'm a very altruistic person so even if I have the possibility of death I rush into the fray to save someone.

  • I know the feeling, thats the reason I stopped playing serious and just goofing off in SWF.

  • I feel your pain bud. I run borrowed and am overly altruistic so I often do what would be considered suicide for everyone but even I know when one should be worked on a gen all the way or partially before unhooking. I get ######### for doing a gen and not saving or commiting suicide to save them and them dying later on. There's no winning here and it frustrates me.

  • As a survivor that does SWF i can say that we goof off more than anything, but i do play more seriously as Solo or when I record for a video. I try and avoid being toxic because this is a game that should be enjoyed by all parties. TBH I really only do SWF because listening to my friends scream is very funny and every time im in a party with them I focus more on not dying of laughter than on not dying in game. Now for the genrushing part I have to say that when we all spawn in different sections of the map we don't ask where we should meet, we just work on the gen and talk about memes until one of us gets found. This will lead to genrushing but It's not like we're trying to be toxic about it. Now there's also a difference from PC to Console players (I'm PS4) and I can say that from videos I've seen on PC they seem to be more toxic than PS4. From the time's I've played killer I have never seen a toxic SWF.

  • I'd be finished if i wasn't stuck 8 hours away from my PS4 ๐Ÿ˜…. I'm not too far from done but I don't particularly care for it too much.

  • Although I like idea, matches would take way too long and some people don't have the time for that. Also killers can camp those that are in stasis if they can figure out the location where they are, baiting survivors for the save and then killing everyone off. This will also make some perks not really worthwhile anymore like Deliverance, Borrowed, Decisive, all the hook perks would be used more theoretically but with survivors coming back to life what's the point? This will also probably not solve camping and tunneling since if all are in stasis killer wins, meaning the killer needs to kill everyone as fast as possible. This would make BBQ, Make Your Choice, and several other perks and add-ons more useful than they already were to begin with. So although your heart is in the right place this idea will probably never work or be implemented.

  • I've never gotten any messages while playing killer but tons as survivor. The ratio was about 50/50 and I'll list some of the the experiences I've had. (PS4 player btw)

A killer was camping hatch (pre end game) and it turned into a showdown. when he backed away just out of reach I tried to get in but he grabbed me. Afterwards he messaged me calling me an idiot, but i reminded him that this was just a game and he didn't have to be a jerk.

Another time I spawned with everyone and there was a 3-man gen and i let a Dwight have it. He later had to get saved by me and he gets tunneled before being downed again. I tried to save him again but a Nea came along and ruined my plan. Dwight died and proceeded to call me a ######### and said I did nothing, though I saved him once, let him have the first gen, and died trying to save him.

I also have gotten wholesome comments from those I've saved last minute, like a whole ton. They are all extremely similar though and I'm pretty sure you can guess how that went.

Killers have also complimented me on how hard to get I am

  • The majority of Dwights are really nice, in fact I used to main Dwight but my kindness got me killed (bc apparently nobody wants to save Dwights after they were the altruistic boss). I did however meet a mean Dwight that tried to make me seem like a jerk that did nothing but it backfired once I pointed out that he was basically talking about himself (he started a chat after he died with everyone).

  • Survivor main that plays killer occasionally here! I have never heard nor used said excuse. I never sweep the area unless i see survivors near or see scratch marks, then after a few seconds of looking i leave. I know the pain of being camped and tunneled so I avoid that at all costs to make the game fun for both parties.

  • I handle ruin extremely well and whenever I play solo I never have a problem. If I'm having an off day I'll just work on being a distraction instead so those who can handle ruin atm can do it. By being a distraction I normally am able to find ruin and eventually come back to it. I also happen to know basically every totem spawn so ruin is kinda useless against me.

  • I use it. I normally will be the one getting chased for a bit before being left alone for the amount of time to self care before returning to being chased.

    But how to you rp?

We do a quick set up in custom game. Picking perks, map, killer, standard stuff and we get into the match and do extra setup. If we want less gens to start off with for a video we quickly do them, we may break a totem or two as well as possibly hook someone if they are meant to get instantly mori'd. These are only a few things that we do now, but back before EGC we used to open exit gates and it would seem like us going through one exit gate led us out another to deal with a different killer.

  • @CakeDuty said:

Yeah some of us do. Dem Roleplays Tho, Invalid Maniacs Productions, and vHxpnoticzzz Productions are three examples.

  • Hi! survivor main here. I totally agree with the idea of an animation, I'm not one to use keys. I've only ever used it 4 times in the 2 years I've played but from what I've seen it's almost balanced. I do think that during chases though it's very stupid to just instantly go in and it's unfair to the killer for a whole team to just leave via hatch during a chase. Although the ability to close hatch to do endgame now also exists, which I find sorta unfair for the survivor side since I've had times where the hatch spawns right on top of the killer and the exits end up being too close together. They shouldn't have endgame start with that so survivors actually can have a chance if they have unlucky door spawn. This is all for my rant on hatches and keys.

I'll share an older video in feedback, but did you ever hear about F13's Salt Mines?

I thought it was a good solution when I first heard about it.

Players who DC accumulate a point. In this case Salt.

As players accumulate salt, the matchmaking system will begin to pair these players together to play with other players who have accumulated salt.

Hopefully "giving them a taste of their own medicine" to curb the DC problem.

This is easier than timeouts in that no one is banned and players can continue to play without "feeling" the effects of their DC actions, while still leaving players who play without DC'ing to enjoy full matches.

This system suffers the same problem of intentional hook suicide, but that could be taken care of by applying salt points to players who die on their first hook without struggling for most of the 2nd stage.

    Thoughts?

yeah but swf will normally kill themselves on hook to give their friends the hatch so that wouldn't be a smart thing for the hook system. There's been at least 25 times I've purposefully killed myself for my friends and it'd be unfair for those playing that strat

  • Sabatoge is actually pretty worthwhile sometimes. There are certain perk builds that make the camp worthwhile when doing SWF or solo. Example: No mither, Dead Hard, Boil Over, and Sabatour (IDK how to spell it). Pair it with an Alex's toolbox and sabo add-ons, 99 the 5 closest hooks to a corner, set one off and wait for the killer then get rid of the hooks and sit in the corner. The killer can't down you since you'll get back up but her can't hook you since they're no hooks. when you escape/get back up check if the hooks are up before going back into the corner. You'll be a big distraction until the killer says screw it and leaves you alone, they won't wanna see you again. Trust me ๐Ÿ˜†

  • I main a lot of survivors tbh. I main Jake, Dwight, Quentin, Laurie, Claudette and Meg (Meg is my most used). I main Jake and Quentin bc they're cuties tbh (Quentin is gonna get a facelift soon according to the devs). Dwight because he's adorable and I relate to him. Meg because my name is Megan. Claudette for strat and personality and Laurie because I wanted DS (b4 it got nerfed) but I got hooked on her and she became a main.

I know you can't get banned for playing woth bad internet. But like I said if Its TERRIBLE and you are aware of it, it is.

OP cannot be banned because he's not trying to gain competitive advantage. It's their parents come home and ruin the ability to play and instead of sitting around doing nothing, playing survivor (which on PS4, is not necessarily a great idea if you aren't used to it. I assume OP is a killer main.), or switching to another game which the lag would still probably effect, OP would rather enjoy the game as much as he can even thought there's lag. That is not a banable offence, for they are not playing for competitive advantage. Plus if they truly did it for the advantage then why play when the parents aren't home?

That's still 6 seconds in which Survivors are hiding, healing, or doing gens. And then there's the chance the Survivor you're trying to kill will stun you & get away. And even if you kill them, now the animation has to play out afterwards.

That would in no way be worth using, man. The genrush meta is 3-5 minute matches. Time is too valuable to be spending on an item that might not even work.

But then why use the moris today as well? They also take several seconds so your argument doesn't really work
