  • This is a known issue, and the devs are currently working on a fix - https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/122269/reported-issues-3-5-0#latest

As for whether it's possible to "undo" a Steam achievement, it doesn't seem to be possible without using third-party software which is forbidden by VAC.

You have posted on threads showing how a lot of killers are getting into lobbies with people over 6-10 ranks above them.

I don't think this statement can ever be fair until matchmaking is fixed.

If they were experiencing the before mentioned rank difference then no rank would actually failing them as people MUCH higher then them deranking them lower then they should be.

You're right that matchmaking has a part to play in the effectiveness of the ranking system, but since OP never mentioned the ranks of their opponents, suggesting that uneven matchmaking played a part in the above scenario is pure speculation.

  • I'm not sure I agree 100% with the numbers, but I agree with the general idea. Ranking up should be based on fulfilling the objective. Anything more than that and you're forcing players to adopt a specific playstyle in order to rank up, and punishing them for getting creative with strategies and builds.

  • No need to tag all the devs. They'll just tell you exactly what @Some_Dood64 said, because that's the correct answer. If you obtain cosmetics for a character you don't own, either through the Rift or the Store, you will gain access to that cosmetic once you unlock the character.

  • I'm not saying the new Ruin changes were good or necessary - I'm personally not a big fan of them - but not pipping doesn't necessarily mean there's something wrong with the design of the game. On the contrary, it means that the ranking system is actually doing its job for once and keeping you at the rank you're theoretically meant to be at according to how well - or at least, how effectively - you're playing.

  • It depends. If I gave him a clear opening to save his teammate, then yeah I'm 100% going to judge him for being selfish, especially if he just squats on the hatch. But if we both know that I would have killed him if he'd gone for the save, then I can't really blame him for making the smart play and saving himself.

Well see I didn't know that but even I a self confesses jackass know not to cross the line and make a mockery of stuff like that. It's something you just don't do it's abhorrent

I agree. Like I said, I hope you reported them.

  • For the record, autism isn't a mental illness.

But regardless of whether you got DDOSed or not, them using the kind of insults they were is bannable, so I hope you reported them in the scoring screen.

  • The current ranking system is terrible for both sides. For survivors, ranking is too easy in general, while certain killers suffer rank-wise simply because of their predesigned playstyle. Both roles get punished by the ranking system for playing too well, which is pretty silly considering the whole point of having a ranking system in the first place is to place people at the appropriate rank for their skill level.

Really, the ranking system needs to be based on wins (kills/escapes) and nothing else. Introducing additional variables will only serve to force players into a particular playstyle, and limit their creative freedom when it comes to builds and tactics.

  • ... Was the thread title a pun? 😉

Okay, I guess I figured it out. You have to take a hit when they are carrying a survivor....that seems like a really bad time to do it, but apparently I have to just give out free hits to complete this challenge instead of trying to help my team mates.

Nvm, guess I got this one answered myself.

Either while they're carrying a survivor, or while "in range" (within 10 metres) of an injured survivor.

    Here's a question for you:

Should there be a killer who can only be realistically played by the top 10 players in the world to begin with? If so then please explain why?

No. Personally, I think that's an exaggeration when it comes to Nurse, but as I've said already, I don't have the personal experience with Nurse necessary to engage in balance discussions about her. All I can say is that from what I've seen, and more importantly from what I've heard from experienced players whose opinions I respect, Nurse is still the strongest killer in the game.

I'm not here to discuss balance, because I don't feel I'm qualified to do so. My original comment was just trying to answer OP's question of why most players don't feel that learning Nurse is worthwhile. I suppose I should amend it to say that there are actually two reasons, the second being that some players don't want to learn her simply because they don't think that she's very strong anymore.

  • @Endstille said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1022895#Comment_1022895

People like you completely ignore that this killer has a map that completely eliminates her power because she can not use it on the map. Aw you got oni map? Well too bad for you because this map is/was filled with deadzones where it is near impossible to blink correctly.

If that is how you define strongest killer, okay.

Meanwhile I haven't seen a single nurse that was able to offer even a little challenge. The killer has simply no rewards for learning how to play the killer. Also if skill had anything to do with balance approaches well might want to consider the slight adjustments of nurse compared to "it is too difficult to hit great skillchecks :(".

I define strength in terms of raw potential, not in terms of how that potential is realised on particular maps. I don't and never have ignored the fact that Nurse suffers on maps like Sanctum of Wrath, I just don't take external variables into account when assessing the strength of a killer.

I also didn't mention anything about balance, so I'm not sure why you're talking as though you're refuting one of my points in that last sentence of your comment.

  • Shock Therapy adds 30 madness points by default, so it takes 3-4 Shock Therapy attacks to get a survivor to tier III madness. Static Blast, as you say, adds 50 madness points to all affected survivors, guaranteeing that they will increase by one madness tier.

The "Order" family of add-ons increase madness inflicted by Static Blast. "Order - Class I" increases it by 10%, or 5 madness points; "Order - Class II" increases it by 15%, or 7.5 madness points; and "Order - Carter's Notes" increases it by 25%, or 12.5 madness points.

The "Discipline" family of add-ons increase madness inflicted by Shock Therapy. "Discipline - Class II" increases it by 15%, or 4.5 madness points; "Discipline - Class III" increases it by 20%, or 6 madness points; and "Discipline - Carter's Notes" increases it by 25%, or 7.5 madness points.

Those are the exact figures, but I'm not sure if half points are actually possible, so it's possible that those .5s might get rounded up in-game.

  • In order to answer this question fully, it would be good to know whether all the perks on this survivor are at tier 3, and which (if any) teachable perks you have unlocked on other survivors.

Without having any teachable perks from other characters unlocked, the most perks you can have unlocked on a survivor is 17 (14 base perks, plus that character's unique perks). On a killer, it's 15 (12 base perks, plus that character's unique perks).

So if this is the first survivor you have leveled and all the perks you have unlocked are at tier 3, then that would be why the bloodweb is no longer giving you any more perks. You will need to level other survivors and unlock their teachables in order to have more perks available on your first survivor.

  • No, I think you're right. Mine is the same.

    image.png

I would report it as a visual bug, if I were you: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/categories/visual

  • I'm not surprised that they put some cosmetics in the premium Rift - if I'm not mistaken, they did the same thing with the Nurse's Halloween skin.

In general, though, I agree. In the absence of a proper event, I would have liked to see something along the same lines as the Withering Blight. Lunar Coins in the free Rift, with which we could buy maybe 3 of the 6 cosmetic pieces released in the Store for the Lunar New Year (Susie's and Jeff's outfits). And Red Envelope offerings that spawned event hooks and generators for extra bloodpoints. I personally would have preferred that to some free recolours, as nice as it is that they've gone back to giving out cosmetics for free, but that's just the way it goes.

She s NOT at the strongest anymore that is our point.  You think she's at top? Give some proof because all facts and numbers point to the contrary.

The truth is, there are no "facts and numbers" that prove conclusively either way. The only numbers we have are the official stats, and they don't prove anything except that Nurse has a low kill rate. If you want to speculate as to why she has a low kill rate, that's fine, but that's all it is - speculation.

If you disagree with me saying that Nurse is the strongest killer based on your personal experience, that's fine. I don't have personal experience to go off, so I go with the advice of knowledgeable people whose opinions I trust.

  • Basically, it's because most people tend to go for the option that provides maximum payoff for minimum effort. Even though Nurse, played to mastery, is still the strongest killer in the game, there are several others who are almost as strong that are much easier to master, and most people care more about winning the game than they do about mastering it. The only reason to learn Nurse is for the personal satisfaction of having mastered the strongest and most difficult killer in the game, and/or just because you find her gameplay so enjoyable that you don't mind the learning curve.

Thank you all for your answers. I did the quest by picking up chest item, but I thought I completed it before by picking up survivor's item. I don't know, it's weird.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1022724#Comment_1022724

Well, yes, I brought flashlight, but I picked up key, so two different items, game shouldn't see that as same.

You're right, it shouldn't. In that case, I would report it in the Bug Reports subforum, as FireHazard suggested above.

  • @Zeidoktor said:

Does that mean it's usually better to grab the level one perks as they come up?

It means it's better not to avoid perks in hopes of getting a better one later, but for the most part it's up to you which perks you want to get. I don't believe the perk level makes a difference, except as it affects the perk's rarity. Personally, I tend to look at the perks I have available in the current bloodweb and try to just get whichever one I consider the best.

  • Queue times are dependent on how many players are online and what roles they're playing, so it's not something the devs can directly affect, short of forcing people into particular roles. The reason survivor queue times are long currently is because many killer players have decided to stop playing or switch to survivor in protest against the new Ruin changes.

  • Could you explain what happened a bit more? What do you mean about your game being "locked"?

  • I do understand what you mean - I too have had experiences where the game seems to really want me to get a particular perk - but as far as I'm aware it's just RNG for the most part. Certain rarities of perks do appear more often at different bloodweb levels, which might be why it feels like the game is trying to push particular perks on you, but other than that, as far as public knowledge goes at least, it is completely random.

EDIT: I went and looked it up on the official wiki. It states on the "Perks" page that "Perks have different Rarity Levels that increase alongside their Tier. They affect the probability of a Perk to spawn at any given Bloodweb Level." It also states that "Bloodwebs are procedurally generated and thus finding a specific Perk is based purely on random chance". So basically, perk rarity affects spawn chances, but which specific perks spawn is completely random. Presumably, this is regardless of their tier, meaning that getting the first tier of a perk doesn't actually directly increase the chances of getting a higher tier of that same perk later on.

  • This isn't really something the community can definitively answer, since all we can really do is speculate. Your guess is as good as any of ours. The only people who can really give a definitive answer here are the devs, and half of the community won't believe them even if they do.

Having said all that, I agree with you about the Ruin changes. I've talked to two "new players" (100-150 hours) about the changes, one of whom has never played killer in their life and the other is a 90/10 killer main. Neither of them had a problem with old Ruin from a survivor standpoint, and both of them agreed that the changes were flawed in their design for multiple reasons. The only thing they both have in common, aside from being quite new to the game, is that they're both game designers.

  • I think the part @NuclearBurrito took issue with was the bit at the end of your original answer where you said "the light will still show up when they're looking at you and vice versa", which is inaccurate because OoO only lights up when the survivor is looking at the killer, not the other way around. The whole Spine Chill/Premonition comparison threw it off the rails a bit, but I think the point they were trying to make originally was just that that particular part of your answer wasn't correct.

  • It should actually work if you collected someone else's item, whether they were dead or just gave it to you. I've done this ritual dozens of times and it's always worked for me with other survivors' items.

Did you go into that match with an item yourself? Because that could have something to do with it - for example, if you brought in a brown medkit and left with someone else's brown medkit, it might not register it as a new item.

  • @ElliotThu said:

But why are there new skins and different gens and stuff?

The gens and hooks this year are purely cosmetic. Some new skins are available for free, some are in the Store, and some are tied to the Rift. There are also a couple of free event charms given to all players.

I too am a little disappointed that it wasn't at least the way they did it last Halloween. Personally, I would have preferred to be able to get Lunar Coins in the Rift and spend them on Susie's or Jeff's new outfits, rather than receiving some free recolours automatically, and have red envelopes to burn for extra bloodpoints, but that's just the way it goes.

  • Which platform are you on? If you're holding the sprint button while you vault, at least over pallets, there is no reason why you shouldn't perform a fast vault. I would recommend first testing with a different controller/keyboard to see if that fixes the problem, and if not, you may need to report this as a bug: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/categories/bug-reports

That's right, but again, if the information isn't official and can mislead people to things that're not true than it's our job to help clear that up right? (or at least we made it our job I guess)

Hence why I did, it might not of been rule breaking or anything but it would of led the OP to thinking it was true, which is unknown since it's leaked information. I already told Asergioam that they didn't do anything wrong, their intentions were good and it wasn't really going to get them in-trouble (since they didn't post the leak outright), but the information isn't official and could be misleading.

No rules were broken, nobody is at fault, but if the information is leaked information or wrong than I will correct it to let everyone know what's official or not OR at the very least give them the right information (if I can). We both do it to each other as well, the correct information is always the best information after all!

Quite true. Which is why I specifically said both times that I think it's okay for it to be mentioned as long as it's made clear that it's not officially confirmed information. Which it has been, in this case. The only thing I was contesting was the idea that leaked information should never be brought up, ever, because I think context plays a part and in some cases it can be beneficial - provided, again, that the fact that it's unofficial and unconfirmed is made clear.

  • I actually agree with you. Given how difficult shards are to earn, I don't think it's fair to force players to buy particular characters that they might not even want in order to do the challenges. I wouldn't have a problem with it if the rewards were only limited to things like lore and bloodpoints, which aren't on a time limit, but the fact that the challenges are tied to Rift progress puts players who can't buy the characters for whatever reason at a disadvantage when it comes to completing the Rift.

There are 12 challenges in the Tome, from what is currently known about it, which are DLC character-specific, all of which are master challenges, meaning that players who don't have access to the DLC characters miss out on six tiers' worth of progression. The number of missed tiers becomes 10.5 if we include challenges that require DLC perks (which are accessible through the Shrine, but not necessarily to all players, depending on their circumstances).

Personally, I feel that a better solution would be to make relevant DLC characters free to play (but without the ability to unlock their teachable perks) for the duration of the Rift, and then lock them again afterwards. This way, players can use them to complete challenges, even invest bloodpoints into leveling them, but will have to purchase them in order to continue playing with them once the Rift closes.

It's still leaked information Fibijean... and you know we can't talk about that, even under this circumstance.

I'm not saying they did anything wrong or that they outright claimed it was 100% factual, but it's still misinformation in my eyes since it didn't come from an official source OR at the very least off of official content.

Leaks are leaks, we can't really get peoples hopes up on something that isn't even true. If it does become a thing than that's good, the OP than try the game out for free. But again, this information was given from a leaked source, it doesn't matter how true it is or not, it's still leaked information that BHVR didn't give out themselves. That, and Steam doesn't seem to display this either, at least not from what I can see.

But! The game is on sale at the moment, so that's something the OP might want to get on, i'll be sure to @ them with this information when I finish up with my replies here.

The rules say we can't post leaked content, like links to leaked patch notes for example. It doesn't say we can't mention the fact that there's a rumour about something, and I don't think there's any harm in doing so as long as it's made clear that it is a rumour and not official information. Context is important. In this particular situation, knowing that there's a possibility that they might get to try the game out for free this weekend, even though that's not officially confirmed, could be helpful to the OP in resolving their dilemma - which, after all, is what this subforum is meant to be all about.

I actually experience the opposite where we need more killers to get the survivor wait times down. Killer games are instant so theres plenty of survivors. Suvivor is about 10-15 min wait times for me

Nowadays that's the case, yes. You'll notice my comment that you're replying to was made two months ago.

@Elk, @Fibijean : Thank you both for sharing! Bunny Feng 6 is incredible. Whatever the technical reasons may be that are keeping this outfit out of the game, I am more than happy to personally find a way to resolve the issues!

I know, right? The main reason they haven't gone forward with the skin is because they have to have separate head and torso pieces on survivors, which makes things like hoods difficult. I'm personally working on a proposal to resolve that issue at the moment, though, since I believe there are ways that the skin could be made to work with separate pieces.

Infectious Fright is not an option for me. The other two are Poised and Overcharged (along with Dead Hard and Rancor). I'm on PC, not sure if that is the difference.

I didn't actually check the in-game Shrine, I was just going off what they posted on Twitter. But you're right, the perks in-game are different... they must have messed up the communications again.

In that case, I would recommend Poised and/or Rancor, for the same reasons as outlined above, if you're interested in doing Tome challenges. If you're more interested in which perks are the best, I would say Dead Hard and Overcharge are probably the best perks there, but I wouldn't recommend buying them from the Shrine since you already own the relevant characters. Poised and Rancor are not bad perks, and personally I'm quite a big fan of Poised in particular, but I wouldn't call either of them must-haves if you're short on shards.

  • You're not a clown 😊 Most people had similar experiences when they first started. It's something that you just eventually get accustomed to, because most of the fear is rooted in the unknown. So after you learn about all the different killers and mechanics and how everything works, everything is predictable and it stops being scary. Which is not to say that veteran players don't still get the occasional jumpscare from a stray stealth killer!

Not only do I get this beautiful outpouring of love for Feng, but I get news that the best outfit on the market drops in the next 24 hours?! @xCarrie : Don't pout! Rise up with confidence! 🤩✊

@Fibijean : I'm right there with you, the moonrise hairstyle is probably my favorite in the current kit. What is this Bunny Feng you speak of, though??

@Elk : I was a little skeptical at first with how that combo might look, but trying it out in the store...it's so cute 😍

You can google it, but basically Bunny Feng is a skin that the devs showcased a while ago but as far as we know, never made it out of the concept art stage for technical reasons. Heaps of people still love the look of the skin and want it in the game, though, because it's super cute.

Yeah. I personally feel that the changes weren't particularly healthy overall, mainly because I think that longer games are, in general, a good thing. But maybe people will be able to adapt and find ways to still have fun under the new system. Here's hoping 🤷

  • I agree with you, OP. I could be wrong, of course, since I'm apparently contradicting the official position here, but I don't feel it could get much more clearly defined than the in-game manual.

It's possible that it's not to do with the dedicated servers, but rather the Ruin changes. A lot of killers have been changing the way they play lately in order to prepare themselves for not being able to slow down games with Ruin anymore. Many killers feel that they won't be able to win games from now on without playing really sweaty, so they've been practicing trying to win without Ruin in preparation for that.

  • Really? That's very disappointing. And here I thought we were finally making a return to atmospheric lighting 💔

I loved her Moonrise outfit, still my favourite hair for her. I've still got my fingers crossed for Bunny Feng, personally 🤞

@Elk : Aww yeah! Any idea about when that's supposed to drop? As for mixing and matching, what is your go-to combo?

The Demon Slayer outfit is included in the new Rift, which opens tomorrow (and by tomorrow, I mean probably in about 10 hours).

Also, I too love Feng! In spite of my profile picture being Yui. I let Elk keep being the only red Feng so he could feel special 😋

  • Which platform are you on? It's hard to give input without knowing when the dedicated server release you're referring to was.

  • If you want to be able to do Tome challenges, and don't own Jane or Spirit, I would recommend picking up Head On and/or Rancor from the Shrine, since those two are actually required for certain challenges in the second Tome.

In terms of just general good perks, though, Infectious Fright is probably the best DLC perk there (unless you already have Plague, in which case I wouldn't bother spending your shards on her perks).

  • There are some new charms, and a new (free) cosmetic each for Dwight, Nea and Hillbilly. Last year's Moonrise outfits are also discounted in the ingame Store.

But no lantern-fetching or grinding for themed cosmetics this year, I'm afraid.
