  • I'm not sure what you mean by "PC game pass". As I understand it, the Xbox game pass is a package of games which you pay a monthly subscription to access, and Dead By Daylight is one of those. The PC version of the game doesn't really have an equivalent to that - you just buy the game on its own as a one-time payment and play it from there.

If your question is whether players on Xbox/PC are able to play with each other, the answer is no, crossplay is not currently supported.

  • BBQ is not a good reason to disconnect. It's perfectly counterable - Distortion is not even that great a perk, its only advantage is being able to know for sure whether the killer has BBQ, but Distortion is not how you counter it. Just hide in a locker.

Yes, the EGC is killer-sided. It's supposed to be. The game is balanced as a 4v1, so obviously a 1v1 in that context is going to be killer-sided. EGC gives the survivor one last chance to escape, but it's a chance, not a likelihood. This is the silliest time to disconnect too, because as Peanits said, the game is about to be over anyway, no matter what happens. By leaving at this point, you forfeit all your bloodpoints from the entire game and thus render it a complete waste of your time, much more so than if you'd just taken the death and the bloodpoints and moved on.

Slugging is not holding the game hostage. That's why the bleedout timer exists. If you find it so very boring and don't want to spend that time doing something useful like trying to locate the hatch, there's nothing stopping you from going and surfing the interweb while you wait to die.

I agree that it's a good idea to look into what makes the game frustrating and unfun for some players and try to fix those issues, because it's a game and it should be fun and enjoyable to play. But those fixes take time, and in the meantime, people who ruin the experience for other players by not sucking it up and taking the loss like the rest of us deserve retribution. And the truth is, as long as there's no penalty for it, people will find petty excuses to disconnect regardless of how many frustrating mechanics are revisited.

« The end game collapse and being slugged are not valid reasons to disconnect.»

So there are valid reasons? But you will never say which ones.

Moreover, I do not read any answer to this: « Why dont you ask people why they DC or pull on the hook in the first place. »

There are many things intolerable in this game... like camping, which is not always a legitimate strategy as many like to repeat this, and you know it. Since the qualitative events will be abandoned for the moment to focus on the health of the game, I hope that these things will be resolved before 2021.

Remember a good doctor treats the disease, and does not punish the patient when they see symptoms.

The devs, and even Peanits specifically, have said many times that the only valid reason for disconnecting from a match is if you have a real life emergency or have to leave for some reason unrelated to the game itself. So your accusations that they will never reveal what these mysterious "valid reasons" are, are simply false.

I'm not sure I've ever heard the devs say this, so I won't attribute it to them, but the other reason to DC is if the game is genuinely being held hostage. Not if you're being slugged or forced into a bad play, but if there is literally no way the game can possibly end unless you disconnect.

Why is this in International Discussion and why is it a poll?

DBD, or exclusive skin? You must pick one!

  • It's not actually a bad perk on paper. Honestly, the main thing wrong with No Mither is the fact that half its effect is useless because the killer knows they have it, and no killer in their right mind would leave someone on the ground they know for a fact can get back up again on their own.

In my opinion, No Mither shouldn't activate until after someone is injured for the first time, and the "Broken" status effect should only be visible to other survivors. That way, the killer can't tell at a glance that the survivor is running the perk, meaning that the survivor has the opportunity to use it to its full potential.

Hmm I see, I... didn't even know we had a windows store for this game...

We are expending our PC family!

Dead by Daylight is now available on the Windows Store.

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/dead-by-daylight/9nms4sfnbgbh?activetab=pivot:overviewtab

    Enable crossplay option

Sometime in the next few weeks, PC players will notice a new option labeled “Enable Crossplay”.

When this option is enabled, PC players will be able to match and play against both Steam and Microsoft Store players. While we understand that expectations are high, we want to reiterate that crossplay is only available between PC versions of the game for the time being.

    F.A.Q.

Q: Can I transfer my progress from Steam / XBOX to the Windows Store version?

A: No, it is not possible to transfer your progress right now.

Q: Will I be able to add friends from another platform (IE. Adding a Steam player on Windows Store)?

A: Initially, you will not be able to add friends from another platform. Enabling the “Enable Crossplay” only allows the matchmaker to pair you with all PC players.

Q: Will crossplay be extended to the console versions of the game in the future?

A: We would like to offer the same treatment for all platforms. We do not have an ETA at this time, but we will keep you posted as new information becomes available.

Q: Will Dead by Daylight Mobile be receiving crossplay as well?

A: Crossplay is not planned for Dead by Daylight Mobile at this time.

Idk man. Cause Microsoft, I guess?

  • That's only between Steam and the Windows Store. Judging from the recent Player Satisfaction Survey, they are looking into the possibility of cross-platform play between PC and consoles, but it's not a reality yet.

  • Technically he's not, fair means equal treatment for everyone. Justice means giving people what they deserve, which I assume is what you're thinking of.

So it's fair to give out cosmetics for free to people who didn't earn them, thus placing them on a level with those who did, but it's not just.

  • Do people understand that legacy skins were never something you could grind for? It's not like those were the old prestige and some people just missed out cause they came late to the party or played on the wrong system.

Legacy skins were awarded after the fact, to people who had put in the work to prestige on the old bloodwebs, as a way of both rewarding them for their hard work and compensating them for all the many millions of bloodpoints they spent on something which would now suddenly cost only a fraction of that price.

It was a surprise to everyone. No other exclusive, to my knowledge, has had that feature of being a complete surprise awarded on the devs' own whim to players who showed loyalty to the game. That is why they will remain exclusive.

Yeah bp offerings dont count towards the challenge, sadly

Neither do BP-boosting perks, or anything that awards BP post-game. It only counts the raw amount you earn during the trial.

  • @HatCreature said:

There are so few Killer challenges this time and they're mostly Master Challenges which is fine as they reward more but there are only 5 Killer challenges, hooray for playing Survivor and WHY does the Killer node END with a SURVIVOR CHALLENGE?!

I know the Challenges are meant to get progressively harder down the line but some of these are designed to be done through dozens of games or play like ######### to get them done. Use 6 Med-Kits, well if you play Quentin you can start with a Med-Kit and then find a Med-Kit but then you rob everyone of Altrusim points and maybe you'll die before you can use the 2nd one.

I am not excited for Grabbing 1 Survivor off a Gen, Grabs have been so bad because of the servers that I lose chases because it denied me the grab and they got away; I don't trust that I can get the grab even if I play Ghostface. That's another thing too, ''Grabbing'' can only be done by Licensed stealth Killers and all of those are paid DLC, that challenge requires you to spend money to complete, unless you're a damn GOD with Tinkerer or have a Coxbombed Clapper on Wraith.

Just as a tip, if you have him, I did the gengrab challenge pretty easily with Myers on The Game.

My guess is they simply decided they don't want to give rewards. Giving away Shards means less people paying for content, and giving out BP ruins muh bloodpoint economy. I mean it's been 3 years. It's never happening. :(

There are other options for rank rewards, especially now that charms have been introduced. I wouldn't lose hope just yet. There are heaps of things that were requested for years before they finally got implemented. Rank rewards just aren't as important as bug fixes and things that they've actually promised to deliver.

  • Because some people like to play both sides, and it's good for you to try new things. Also I expect the reason why there are more survivor challenges is to encourage people to play survivor, cause we need that 4:1 ratio for good queue times.

Is it that hard to implement a rank reward system which needs to take 3 years for a study???

I would hazard a guess that it's not that it's difficult, it's that it's not a high priority.

THAT was the Halloween event? I thought they were going to make an actual event later, since The Rift took up so much time.

Very disappointing that we didn't get anything unique for what is the most important holiday for DBD. The rift should have been delayed longer until so an actual event could come out, or make the rift more themed.

Yeah, that was the entire Halloween event this year. Just the petals and the bonus bloodpoints. It was probably so small because the Rift took up so much of their time. Although last year they had a huge event, and made a big announcement of the fact that they had hired a dedicated events team and everything.. so I'm not sure what happened to them this year.

  • @ASurvkillivorer said:

So yesterday was the last day to use them? This is a shame as I was assuming we could use them all the way through this pass because the serum is in the pass only? I wish they would reconsider letting us use them up at least. I ended up with a hell of a lot more than I originally planned due to thinking this.

Sorry to hear that you were disappointed. The devs were quite clear that the Halloween event, which involved the Petals and special hooks/generators, would only run until the 13th, and that the serum and skins were tied to the Rift and would therefore be available until January. If it's any consolation, it's likely that the petals will be usable in some way for next year's Halloween event, if you still have them in your inventory at that point.

    @Drummerman74 said:

Agreed... In addition to that, why are they still appearing in the bloodweb if I can't even use them? I've had to buy four or five of them today, in order to get to the perk, add-on or offering that I want in the bloodweb.

The petals shouldn't be showing up in newly-generated bloodwebs, however you will find them in bloodwebs generated before the event ended. So for example, if you levelled a character from level 33 to 34 while the event was still ongoing, you will still find petals in the level 34 bloodweb even after the event ends. However, you shouldn't find any in the level 35 bloodweb if you continue to level the character now that the event has ended.

  • Numbers 3, 5, and 6 are sadly irrelevant if you're trying to suggest that the Rift is somehow different to other systems and therefore shouldn't be compared, since those features are common to almost all battlepass systems.

  • The devs have often implied that the lore is a lot deeper than we players know. Pretty much everything that exists in the game has some deeper basis in the lore. So you needn't worry about being dumb. Dig away!

    Reading comprehension is important.

"Another version" does not mean the same.

"The only similarity they have is both use a chainsaw to 1 hit ko survivors." one version runs in a straight line, THE OTHER VERSION swings it side to side.

My speculation on similarities to the Doctor are based on the sound file references found in the code weeks ago. The sounds reference a "normal" and "crazy" mode. It can be assumed that the killer can willingly switch between the two... just like the Doctor.

I don't think there's much danger of that, really, based on those leaks. Many killers have two modes they can switch between - Plague, Legion, Doctor, Wraith, Pig, Ghostface, Spirit... I don't think anyone would claim that any of those is just "another version" of the Doctor simply because of that.

  • I don't really have a strong going theory at the moment, all I can say is it's probably not the most obvious option. Remember when the Spirit's teaser was released and showed her being killed by her father, and everyone assumed he was some kind of samurai killer?

  • While it's true that in terms of horror legends and folklore there are many countries which stand as valid alternatives, Japan is very much the reigning king of cinematic horror, and has been for decades. GIven that Dead By Daylight has always been heavily inspired by the ~horror movie experience~, I don't mind them paying homage to that by putting a bit more of a focus on Japanese horror.

As long as whoever the new killer is is sufficiently different, visually and power-wise, from the Spirit, I don't really have any problems with it.

  • @inutilem said:

@Fibijean The Alchemist isn't a survivor or killer. So there isn't any correlation between the challenges and the lore there. And there is also the Entity category and Revelations category that, for the moment, don't feel to be tied to either killer or survivor side specifically. So, I still see no good reason to have to do the master challenges for both killer and survivor to unlock all of the lore on a Tome.

That's a fair point. Although, as I said, there may still be a lore-related reason for it, perhaps to do with the alchemist's interactions with those particular characters, which is yet to be revealed.

  • There aren't any challenges which require all 4 survivors to be alive. If you tell us which ones you're trying to complete, maybe we can give you some tips to achieving them even if your teammates die or disconnect?

  • This used to be a thing. It stopped with the dedicated servers. Something about the connection to the servers rather than peer-to-peer seems to prevent Steam from being able to track players in your games.

Seems like the majority do though and most hex perks could use these changes, as Hex Third Seal and Lullaby aren’t really worth running.

I'm not saying some hex perks couldn't use a rework (although personally I believe the majority of them are fine). I was simply pointing out the flaw in OP's assumption that there is no reason not to implement a change that "literally everyone" wants.

  • As mentioned above, serum isn't event-dependent but Rift-dependent. So you can wait until mid-January to commit to what you want.

  • I assume you're a bit further ahead timezone-wise from the US. Unfortunately, that means the dates they give will usually be somewhat behind. It's scheduled to come out at 11am ET, which is 16 hours from now I believe.

Hey, everyone. Thanks for replying. I followed @Gay Myers (Luzi) advice, and unfortunately the worst happened and I tried to talk to her gently about it, and she just blew up at me and attacked me and told me to f off and I was a bad friend because she had problems too. I am really hurt right now tbh, there was so much deep seeded animosity. I can’t believe a friendship that’s been going on for 5 years is just...gone now. I feel devastated.

So sorry to hear that :( It sounds like either she's in a lot of pain, or else she's looking for excuses to push you away, or both. Either way, she has some issues. It's up to you whether you want to stay and deal with those, but you shouldn't do anything that compromises your wellbeing in the long term.

If there are real problems preventing her from being a good friend to you, and you decide you do want to keep trying with her, it may be worthwhile to give her some time to cool down and try to talk to her about what's going on in her life. Maybe with some honest conversation the two of you can figure out both of your problems together and move forward.

If that's not an option, I'm very sorry. The end of any long-term, meaningful relationship can be absolutely heartbreaking. Try to remind yourself that you did everything you could to maintain it, and it's not your fault that she insisted on pushing you away.

    Fast please.

Look how quickly they tweaked Demogorgon to give him a ultra-rare as base. Some of the best changes people suggest are literally just number changes. They could knock-out a Wraith buff in their lunch break.

Well yes, if they can do something both fast and well, that's obviously ideal. And though that's not impossible, as I mentioned, it is quite rare. My point was that if it's a choice between doing something fast and doing it well, the latter is almost always the better option.

clown trapper wraith killers like these needs some qol changes do they really need 3-4 years?

You're the only one who's putting a 3-4 year timeframe on it.

They need as much time as it takes to do a good job. I'm a designer - not a game designer, but this is how the design process works no matter what you're designing. Sometimes you come out the gate with a great design, and it works perfectly and everyone loves it. That's awesome when it happens. Most of the time, though, you have to brainstorm a lot, find good ideas, test them, iterate on them, test them some more, until you find something that works. And yeah, that can take a long time.

But personally, I would much rather they take a long time respecting the process and working through the steps patiently, than rush out some changes without giving any thought or care to the process because it's what some people on the forums think they should do.

  • @Drazen said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/829468#Comment_829468

The time u guys require to change a killer is too much, at this rate it would take 3-4 years to bring underperformers to mediocre level

Do you want them to do it fast, or do you want them to do it well? Good, iterative design process takes time. If you rush a change out without really thinking about it, you're much more likely to just make things worse.

  • Sooo really this should be addressed to the community as a whole, not survivors. I've said it once and I'll say it again - survivors are not the problem. Killers are not the problem. Toxic people are the problem, and those exist on both sides. I get that you're just ranting, but I don't believe this kind of "us versus them" mentality is a very healthy or productive mindset to have.

  • I think the tease is definitely about the next chapter, but I'm not convinced Rin's father is involved.

Well, it's an interesting question. I'm sure the streamers helped, but my personal theory is that people figured out how to play her to her full potential. She was always that good, it's just that more people have now mastered her playstyle.

  • @MegaWaffle said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/828250#Comment_828250

Have to disagree, the issue isn't that there is a risk to the perk but that the RNG factor is so polarizing. There are games where the totem spawns on the other side of the map and you cannot physically get TO the totem before it is broken because sometimes (more often than not it feels) survivors spawn ON the totem. That isn't risk its poor design.

Everyone knows that some of the totem spawns are problematic, and the devs have already said that's something they're working on. But at the same time, risk is definitionally chance (or, if you prefer, "RNG")-based.

  • I'm not going to tell you to stop being friends with her or whatever, because I don't know her or you and that's not my place. I have witnessed enough damage being done in my own life by people who feel qualified to comment on a relationship while knowing very little about it outside of one person's testimony.

I would advise that you try to talk to her honestly, though. Point out what she's doing, tell her how you feel. If she's a good friend, she should respect you enough to be honest with you, or at least give you some kind of reasonable explanation as to why she's been acting so differently. If she doesn't care about you and your friendship enough to try to work on it with you, she should at least have enough respect for you to tell you honestly that she doesn't want to be friends. What she's doing right now is just hurting you and it sounds like she's being dishonest about it to spare your feelings or something, and it isn't fair to you for her to be doing that.

  • The fact that you might get no use out of the perk is the risk.

In return, you get an extremely powerful effect if the perk activates properly. I don't think you'll find anyone who denies that Third Seal is underwhelming and needs to be reworked, but perks like Devour Hope and NOED definitely live up to what a hex perk is supposed to be.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/828250#Comment_828250

You do realize the only strong killer hex perk in the game rn is pretty much just ruin? Because of the reasons op mentioned. Hex perks are basically giving the survs a physical way to delete a perk permanently from the round. Plus a lot of killers do have plan B's but survs dont like em so much. Aka slugging, camping, tunneling. Killers have to get crazy lucky for a half decent hex spawn tbh for it to last longer than 3 min.

4-5 of the 7 hex perks in the game are very strong when activated correctly. Third Seal and Thrill of the Hunt aren't great, and maybe Huntress Lullaby could use a buff, but at least 4 of the existing hex perks are absolute gamechangers. The fact that they can be disabled as easily as they can is what makes them balanced. They're meant to be high risk, high reward. The risk is that you won't get any use out of them. That's the point. The only thing that needs to change to make hex perks better is spawn locations on some maps, which the devs are already working on.

Oh, I know. I'm in the same boat. But that's what I mean by that it's a trap.

You basically turn the game into a full-time job for 2+ months to make "back" ten bucks. You playing the game more to make the grind is still greatly beneficial to them. Spending so much time also makes you more invested in the game.

Meanwhile, the casuals who have money to throw won't mind spending a few bucks to either get a cosmetic they want in the battle pass immediately, or to skip all of the grinding.

This whole thing about it trying to be "fair" and talk about trying to make the rift as consumer friendly as possible is a bold-faced lie to the community' (as much as a lie as "70 hours", lmao). It's a betrayal of trust and they should be ashamed of themselves.

I absolutely refuse to believe their math could be so off, and that they weren't thinking about money when creating this rift.

If the Rift was designed to be so complete-able, that even casuals could complete it by just playing an hour or so everyday if they did the challenges, as they had said, then why does the time saver purchase even exist? The fact it exists absolutely contradicts everything they said and advertise with this thing. It's the proof of the lie and the proof of the real intention of the battle pass and the Auric cells are the bait.

Game companies are notorious for taken 2 steps forward towards monetization and then taking 1 step back to appease the backlash when it comes to things like this. That's probably what's going to happen here. Then the next monetization scheme will come. 2 steps forward, 1 step back. 2 steps forward, 1 step back.

Personally, I'm not playing the game any more than I usually do just to get Rift progress, but probably a lot of people are, like you say.

I absolutely agree that the Rift was introduced primarily to generate revenue. I don't think even the devs themselves could deny that. I would like to give them the benefit of the doubt and believe that they miscalculated or didn't think things through rather than that they had malicious intentions, but it's true that the reality certainly has not lived up to their claims so far, so I'll agree that it's not looking good for them.

I work full time(normally Mon-Thursday 10 hour days but it's the busy season and I'm working Fridays too right now). I still have plenty of gaming time during the week.

Personally, no. I was just saying there are lots of irritating, toxic people who only play on the weekends who aren't schoolchildren, so they might also be part of the problem.

  • Two flashlight saves in a single game is hard, but not impossible.

And if it makes you feel better, I believe Peanits mentioned that the Dark Sense challenge doesn't require you to complete 4 generators by yourself, just to be working on them when they're completed.

  • Bear in mind that lots of people who aren't in school work full time during the week. They have even less time at home than the schoolkids do. The reason you're having a worse experience with players on the weekend isn't because they're all children, it's because more people generally are playing at that time. And because some people are toxic, the more people there are, the more toxic people there will be.

That would be true if it wasn't intentionally designed not to be completed by the average player, despite being advertised and BHVR claiming as such.

The Auric cells purpose is to be bait, nothing more.

It can either be completed by casuals, or it can't be. It cannot be both.

I'm probably not what you would call a "casual" player, since I am very much on track to complete the Rift (tier 23 currently), but I am someone who is not normally willing to spend money on things because I don't have the money to spend. The auric cells are in fact a huge motivator for people in positions like mine. And I guarantee I'm not the only one.

That's not a stupid idea. We don't know anything really about Rin's mother, so there's a lot more room to work with there. I'm not sure how they would go about making her distinct from the Spirit, though, in the way that killers normally are from one another. Two onryos seems a bit unnecessary.
