I know, but the game are forcing you guys to pick med-kits. If i want to use a toolbox or a flashlight i would need the perk to heal myself, if i never want to use a med-kit (because i don't feel comfortable with it) than i must have this perk or 2 others to find someone running around the map. Considering that i dont have friends to play with, i always play solo and i won't run (ocasionally) all over the map to find someone and, sometimes, people miss skillchecks ( i never miss in normal circumstances, so i prefer myself to do the job).
It's super easy to find and to buy a medkit, it's "easy" to call your friends or to find other survivors to heal you with unique perks. But, i'm not allowed to heal myself, because that would be what? slow? so the game wants me to RUSH?. The thing is, developers tries so hard to fill up this useless void, by creating more useless perks, like boost medkits (unbalacing the game) and perks like (destroy a totem and auto heal inside a closet) that are just s*. Give the option to auto medicate without the use of perks or kits, why not?
If you say i need to use bond. Than the game stucks me with a priori build, just because it wont let me heal myself. For exemple: "To not heal youserlf use 2 other perks to get around". If you want to use the medkit, ok Good for you. But i like to use flashlights and i wish that i could use more random perks, but i can just use 3 random perks (and 3 perks dont get the combo i was hopping for), because the 4th one i must save it for self care or use a boring medkit, that i personally dont like it.
In my country we say: "está engessado" - The perks are plasted, to ordinary builds.

Also Fibjiean, the game it's not about speed. If i'm injured i would go save the other survivor, but if i see the killer camping around, i would prefer to heal myself then go after the survivor.
The problem with new players is about speed. The game must end in 3 and half minutes otherwise the game is a joke. I already played a lot, probably as much as you have, and in all my games the most fun ones was those who took 10-15 minutes.
I'm not a new player. I've been playing for over three years.
The game is all about speed. It's not about making the game end as quickly as possible, it's about beating your opponent to your objective. As a killer, you have until the survivors escape to find and kill all of them. As a survivor, you have however long it takes the killer to track down and kill you and all your teammates to power the generators and escape. An early head start can be the difference between victory and defeat. It's a race, whatever side you're on.
Healing yourself over a period of 107 seconds is hugely inefficient. You could do a generator in that time, or find a teammate who could heal you in 16. Time management is at the core of success in this game - not minimising how long the match takes necessarily, but knowing what is appropriate to spend your time on and when. And unless the killer is either afk or otherwise poses no threat whatsoever, there is never an appropriate time to spend over a minute and a half healing yourself.

Oooohh I didn't think about that o.o I also think that if timed correctly Rancor and Nemesis could go together really well
Absolutely. I think there's room for a lot of creative plays with some of these new perks.

It does. Which is going to synergise incredibly well with the Oni's power, if I understand it correctly.

Darn, why not? Would be very neat to keep the progress going
For the same reason you can't transfer bloodpoints earned in the PTB back to the live servers, I expect. The PTB is essentially frozen in time, it's hosted differently from the live servers, so there's no cross-progression between them.

I too was under the impression that this was a feature, and a useful one at that. I hope the devs reconsider and keep it in the game, or at least explain their reasoning for removing it.

Are the devs kidding me? That 2nd survivor perk seems really good, now you can force the killer to break the pallet every time. The 3rd survivor perk seems really strong with a swf, especially if it stacks
Three seconds is a long time, I can't see that working too often in the middle of a chase. Breakout is a potential lifesaver with the right build and timing, but it's also very niche and I expect most people wouldn't consider it worth a perk slot. I'd put it somewhere in the same camp as Unbreakable.

Thanks for posting.
Slightly underwhelming though. Not seeing anything that would trouble the meta...
Nothing looks meta, but most of them are pretty solid mid-tier perks in my opinion. They have the potential to be good on particular characters or builds.

Apparently these are the new perks, sourced from Reddit:

Sucks I’m an Xbox player :(
It's 3:30AM for me so I can't make any promises, I might go to sleep before it finishes downloading. But I'm sure someone else will be able to get you the info if I can't!
-
It is out. I'm downloading it right now, but I haven't heard from anyone who already has access to it yet.
-
I have completed the Dark Sense challenge, and can confirm that you only need to be on the generator when it's completed, you don't have to be there for the full duration of the repairs.
Some of the challenges are quite difficult, or at least they seem like it. Personally, I'm waiting to see how much difficulty people have with them when they are released, since the gulf between theory and practice can be surprisingly wide.
-
Self-Care is arguably not even one of the best perks anymore. The speed makes it not really worth bothering with. I know that when you have it in your loadout it feels like you couldn't possibly live without it, but you actually don't need it as much as you think you do. Being injured or finding a teammate to heal you is not the worst thing. Try experimenting with other good substitutes like Adrenaline or Plunderer's Instinct in that slot, or even switch it out for Resilience and take advantage of the fact that you won't always be at full health.
Also, newer survivors already think that they have to be at full health all the time. Allowing them a passive ability to heal themselves at an agonisingly slow pace would encourage very bad habits, like spending two minutes in a corner healing themselves when they should be doing generators or rescuing teammates. The fact that people use Self-Care in those situations is already bad enough.

How so? She seems like the polar opposite of Kate, character-wise. Is everyone just forgetting that Kate according to her lore is a sweet, wholesome country singer? Rebellious biker chick is not Kate's MO, it's just one of her outfits.

You're not punished, any more than you are "punished" by the Rift closing after 70 days. It's just designed such that the only challenges you can use to gain progress in a Rift are those from its accompanying Tome. You can still do the challenges whenever you like and earn bloodpoints, charms and lore from them, you just can't hoard unfinished challenges forever so that you can do them all at once and complete a future Rift extremely easily.
-
They both look super cool. Yui is going to be ridiculously popular as a main.
-
Well, the new trailer just dropped so maybe it will be today after all.
https://youtu.be/yfKDTpWz4QQ -
Scratched Mirror (which I assume is what you're referring to, rather than the Mirror Shard) comes with all the disadvantages of tier 1 Myers. Yes, he can see you through walls and has no terror radius, but he's also incredibly vulnerable to looping due to his reduced movement speed.
The Fragrant Tuft of Hair greatly increases the time it takes him to reach tier 3. Yes, it's powerful, but it comes at a pretty steep price. Against efficient survivors, most of the generators will already be done by that point. Against really good survivors who know how to avoid being stalked, he may not get to use it all game.
I'm not going to tell you to "git gud", but just because his rare addons are powerful doesn't mean they are overpowered or unfair. Learn to recognise and counter them and you'll have a much better time.
-
If you watch good Huntresses play, you'll notice that they don't release a hatchet as soon as it's fully wound up, they release it when it's an optimal time to do so. So increasing the windup time isn't likely to do much as far as helping survivors escape goes.
-
They're already working on bringing solo players up to the level of SWF in terms of the information they are given, so that they can then balance killers around that.
From the Reddit AMA yesterday:
Specifically, the part at the end: "Our goal is to gradually bring solo players up to the same level of info as a pre-made group and then balance killers to match."
They've already said in the past that they don't want to put voice chat in the game for several reasons, so I assume they're working on a series of UI and QOL improvements to shorten the info gap between solo and SWF players.
-
PTB is always on a Tuesday. I thought it might have been this week, but if so it would be only a few hours from now and nothing official has been mentioned yet, so it's looking like next week is most likely.

Well BHVR made sure that it isn't about the majority as you can see with the nurse changes since she was the worst performing killer over all ranks, just not in red ranks. I doubt that most people who play killer would have a problem playing against swf when the game wouldn't be so survivorfavored.
Game balance isn't really the topic of this thread, though. We shouldn't derail it by talking about other stuff that wasn't discussed in the OP.

Not true. It procs on Huntress Hatchets, Billy/Bubba chainsaws, Pig's Ambush, and Demo's Shred. I think the only injury inflicting powers where it doesn't proc is Plague's Corrupt Purge and Trapper's traps.
From the official wiki. But I'll test it ingame later just to make sure.
-
A combination of engine updates and balance adjustments. They rebalanced lighting and shadows, for example, because survivors were getting too good at stealth, but as a consequence it severely affected the dynamic atmosphere of the game and made it feel very flat and two-dimensional. Other changes have also been made over the years in the name of optimising for lower-end systems, such as the infamous hair changes and forced anti-aliasing recently.

B-but what if I get the magic item that magically pulls everyone off hooks heals everyone by a health state and gives them 150% movement speed for 10 seconds out of that chest I was searching?!
In that case, I will apologise profusely in postgame for doubting you, and then I'll report you for hacking 😉

I noticed, but I didn't realise that graphics settings couldn't be adjusted on console. Still, console graphics are probably slightly worse than those on PC (which is almost certainly what the cosmetics were designed on) so that might have something to do with delicate items like Dwight's thin-framed glasses not showing up very well. Having said that, I don't think those glasses are incredibly conspicuous on any system, but they are definitely there.
-
I'm not really a fan of either of them. In general, I don't like OP consumables on either side being nerfed into the ground for balance reasons, because I am of the (unpopular) opinion that rare, one-time use mechanics add flavour to the game, and trying to ensure that every individual match must be perfectly balanced makes the game overall less interesting.
-
They are visible, but just barely. You can see the edge of the frame on his left cheek. What are your graphics settings on? That might have something to do with it.

Firstly, bear in mind that you don't have to repair the generators fully yourself, you just have to be working on the generator when it's completed. So someone else can get a generator to 99% and if you tap it at the end, it will count for the challenge.
There are a couple of ways to do the challenge. The easiest is to find a SWF group to help you, and get them to 99% generators so that you can complete them for your challenge. You don't even need four people in the group, you could manage it with three or even two.
Another way to do it is to let your teammates know in the pregame lobby that you're aiming to complete the challenge, inform them that you'll be running around looking for generators to complete and ask them not to complete generators unless you're on there with them.
If neither of the above is an option, bring a good toolbox (commodious or engineer's) with repair speed boosting addons and hope for the best. You should be able to complete at least one generator by yourself. After that, you can run around the map and use the perk Bond to find teammates working on generators and hop on with them to finish the generator for your challenge. Prove Thyself is also a useful perk to take for this, since it boosts cooperative repair speed.
-
Currently FF is the only killer power which works with Sloppy Butcher, and I assume that's because for perk purposes it currently counts as a basic attack. If the leaked changes are to be believed, that would mean that no, Sloppy Butcher will no longer work off Feral Frenzy hits.

He's talking about how unfair it is to not be the obsession if the killer has STBFL. But as @Auron471 pointed out, targeting three separate survivors and avoiding another completely is basically the opposite of tunnelling.

There used to be a rare bug where the gideon map was really dark, i think it would be really cool to have it as a feature now.
That actually looks very cool.
-
As others mentioned, Agitation is responsible for that. It's quite common at the moment because there's a challenge in the most recent level of the current Tome which requires its use. When they swing while carrying you, it's not to make them go faster, it's just because they can with Mad Grit and it's fun to show it off.
-
I would like it if they made the maps darker and more atmospheric, making stealth a more viable option than it is now. But the fact is that nothing is scary once you get used to it, because the unknown is such a crucial part of creating that fear in a piece of horror media.

Yes exactly lol or my friend telling me to stop yelling at him. He's like
"Hey. Dick. Stop ######### yelling." But it's so hard because sometimes he plays like a complete moron even though he's an intelligent person. I curse the day when he discovered Urban Evasion because he literally uses it for the entire duration of the trial, except for when he's getting chased. So comms are like this
"Wait why tf are you crouching?"
"I don't wanna leave scratch marks."
"Yeah but we know he's chasing Dwight right now."
"Yeah and I don't want him to chase me!"
"..."
"What?"
"Just do a ######### gen please"
I assume your friend is new. Don't worry, it's just a phase :P
-
When will they be tested on console? Probably never. I'm pretty sure the devs are using PC as the guinea pigs until they get all the kinks ironed out.
Dedicated servers will probably come to console when they're officially released on PC (currently they're still only being tested) but it's hard to say when exactly that will be.

Yes you're absolutely right. I'm a red rank for survivor but my friends are all wildly uncoordinated and panic and make dumb decisions all the time. If the killer could hear our comms, they would be laughing hysterically. When I play SWF, it's never some well communicated effort. It's me yelling at people "NO STAY ON THE ######### GEN GOD DAMMIT THERE'S ONLY ONE LEFT" I feel like I do better as a solo honestly LOL
My group is exactly the same. Far from being super coordinated, we're constantly getting frustrated with each other for forgetting to share crucial information. There's a lot of
"Wait- ######### I thought they were chasing you!"
"Oh, yeah.... they left me."
"YES I CAN SEE THAT!"
or "That person is about to reach second stage, is anyone saving them?"
"I thought you were."
etcetera xD

???
The majority doesn't matter at all. Nurse was changed due to a very small percentage of people who played with nurse performed so good. Same logic has to be applied to Survivor not by punishing people who play with their friends but ofc by nerfing survivors, you know "slight tweaks".
It does matter. Not because balance changes ought to be based on the majority, but because we're not talking about balance changes. We're talking about giving killers the opportunity to dodge groups which they assume are going to be sweaty tryhards, and I'm pointing out that statistically that's an incorrect assumption to make, nine times out of ten.
