Naturally. But if that's the case, those who can't play at a high level will derank to a place where they're more comfortable. That is the point of a ranking system, after all.

A ranking system that currently doesn’t even work

  • People forgetting that everyone has the right to voice their opinion...

So that people can complain for 2 full weeks without testing it? Sure...

btw. even the PTB test will not be enough to see the consequences, only the Live Server can give that insight.

No because by the time the changes drop on the ptb people will have had 2 weeks to calm their heads. Announcing a huge change like this a day before a PTB is just stupid

  • @Almo said:

We expected outrage when doing a fundamental change to a perk used in such a large percentage of games. However, after playing with the new version, we're much happier with how it functions in the game as part of the whole system.

So if 99% of the community hate the change but there's that 1% who like the change your still going to implement it into the game?

Isn't the whole point of a PTB to test something and if the players don't like it then you won't add it into the game after all? I remember that's what you guys said when the BL changes were announced.

But at this rate what's the point of PTB if your going to keep the changes even if they suck?

Also can you please explain why you keep hiding stuff from us? This is why people are getting angry. You did this with the Freddy addon changes too. If I was a game developer I would never ever do this.

"hey guys here is the doctor rework on the PTB... btw we changed ruin lol"

you should announce drastic changes like this 2 weeks before the PTB not one day before it drops.

  • @DBDfan12 said:

has the crying changed your view of DBD as a whole?. its very embarrassing , i was wondering if it has made you question your affiliation with the game now knowing who you are playing against.

Freedom of speech is a thing so people are allowed to voice their concerns. At the end of the day we all payed money for this game so we all have a right to say what's on our mind. I will say tho some of the posts have been quite rude such as players swearing at the devs which I don't personally agree with. Criticize them all you want but actually verbally attacking the devs with rude words is a bit too far IMO.

  • @Peanits said:

I'd hesitate to call the Doctor and Lery's updates nerfs, especially given you haven't had a chance to play them first. I would say give it a try once the PTB is live. That's the point of a PTB, after all.

Even if we don't like something in the PTB you'll still add it anyway so there is honestly no point of a PTB. The only time you ever did something with a PTB was with Ghostface but that was only because you guys were worried that no one would buy him when he was absolute trash.

Make an offline mode, people will play the game against bots if they get frustrated against toxic people. It also teaches them slowly how to use killers powers without being thrown against others.

Exactly, every time a new killer comes out I always wish there was an offline mode so I can get a feel for the new killer without having to be worried about being dominated by survivors.

  • @Almo said:

We do play it. To varying degrees on the team, but me personally... I play a lot. The new Ruin is designed to be something that ramps up in power over time. If that totem isn't cleansed by the time there are 3 gens left, the Survivors will be in huge trouble. That's how Hex Perks work.

How many times do I see a Killer get moris off Devour Hope? Not often. But when it happens... oh boy there's some panic lookin' for that totem. :)

And there you go, you will never see devour get 5 tokens because it will have been cleansed by then. What makes you think Ruin will be any different?

  • @TragicSolitude said:

"Killers need to apply gen pressure."

Tutorial mentions nothing about any such thing. The most intuitive way to play killer is to chase the first survivor you find and double down on them, making sure they die. Rinse, repeat. Then killers are berated when they struggle because the game gives them no direction.

"Survivors have trouble hitting skill checks."

You hit a couple skill checks in the tutorial. The game provides no place for survivors to practice skill checks unless they want to bore the ever-loving [BAD WORD] out of a friend with a custom match.

I also would like a nice shooting range where I can practice throwing hatchets as Huntress; trying to practice during matches that last less than five minutes because I suck as her is worse than useless.

Sadly there is no money to be made off a tutorial update so they most likely won’t do it. I bet they’ll probably say “just watch a youtuber explain how to play the game”

  • @humanbeing1704 said:

I didn't even know this game had a tutorial until after like 5 months of play time

Exactly! And the tutorial is so bad too. It lacks so much information

  • @CrummyCookie said:

Stop crying you babies it's a game. Don't like it don't play it. The devs are devs for a reason. They know what they're doing so stop moaning about every little thing. It's getting boring now

Sorry, freedom of speech is a thing I'm afraid. We all payed money for this game so we all have a right to say what we want

  • Then Mori's will be nerfed by making it so there is a 99.99% chance of survivors escaping the mori halfway through the animation

  • "Newer players trying to help veterans with generator repairs tend to make the situation worse rather than better."

They shouldn't even be playing with Veterans players. But sadly the Devs don't know how to fix matchmaking so they decide to nerf a perk instead of fixing it.

  • @CLAUDETTEINABUSH said:

Do you guys remember the first time going against a ruin? I remember mine. I was prepared for that day and when I tried to hit a great skill check....I failed and the gen exploded.

    Then I gen tapped

The game ended in 5 minutes because nobody could find the totem.

Ruin in ranks from 20/12 is op. The survivors don't know how to hit great skillchecks,so the game goes tremendously slow.

Now,in red ranks, you get used to ruin, sometimes you don't even notice it. So,unlike most killer mains,I think this is a healthy rework.

I posted 1-2 hours ago saying it is an end of an era,but I think that the new era that just begun will be healthier.

Yes I am sad about my main and the best slow the game down perk

BUT I think that the new ruin will also be enjoyable. Think about it with the ghostface perk thrilling tremors. Evey gen that isn't worked on will be unable to repair and will regress. Pretty neat

Surveillance, you will see all gens progression at any time.

Discordance (I believe I misspelled that) try to fix a gen with more than 2 people I dare ya

Pop,to slow the game down just a little bit

What do you guys think? I'm not enjoying the fact that ruin is getting change, but I'm not sad/surprised either. Let me know your thoughts down below

the devs are trying to say that Ruin is great at late game but by then the totem will have already been destroyed especially with how BS some of the totem spawns are.

Nerfing Adrenaline would also make no sense. Of course nerfing Ruin made no sense either so who knows.

    The Devs make no sense

  • Can't wait for your reaction when perks like Adrenaline get nerfed... oh wait that won't happen because the devs like survivors too much

  • @ZFennecFox said:

Or they spawn right on top of it, or they spawn near it, or they catch a glimpse of it standing in the middle of an open field.

Which pretty much counters what the devs said.

"oh it's very powerful later on in the game"

So we have to now rely on Ruin lasting more than 5 seconds to get any use out of it? The devs are a joke

  • @Alice_pbg said:

Those statements describe devour hope aswell. So by themselves, no, I don't see the issue.

In context is where the issue is. :p

They'll most likely still get a notification that Ruin is in use. At least with Devour you need 3 tokens before the survivors 100% KNOW that you have Devour.

  • Corrupt Intervention will be nerfed to last 10 seconds, the way the devs are "balancing things" this will probably become true

I'm curious to see what some people think about the current state of the game.

Do you think the game is great as is?

    Needs a lot of work?

Do you think the game will die soon?

    Etc...

    Let me know..

Me personally? I see some things that can be fixed. Some things that can stay the same. But I will say that everytime DBD makes a non - licensed killer and survivors, the community goes wild and don't usually fail to disappoint.

But I still believe this game is doing very well for what it is. Not many games only have 1 or 2 game modes and are still doing very well.

I think people will join the community. People will leave. People will hate and rage but still play. And people will outright get bored. But I would like to know what the community thinks.

Also... Drop whether you're a killer or survivor main and what rank you are.

I'm rank 1 on both but I just wanna see some other ranks :)

Honestly I have very mixed feelings about DBD right now which is a shame cause I feel like this game has so much potential. There are times where I'm super excited to jump on and play and there's other times where I can only play 1 match before being bored. I think my main problems are these.

First issue I want to point out and please don't think I'm bashing on the devs because I do appreciate the hard work they put in but at times I feel like they don't care about the current state of the game and they don't communicate with the community when they should be. Sometimes they will do the exact opposite on what the community says needs changing such as.

Map reworks: They rework the maps that aren't the top priority ones.

Killer changes: nerfing nurse base kit and Oni's flick.

There's a lot of other things but I don't want to get ahead of myself.

Second issue I want to point out is how long it takes for bugs to get fixed. I'm talking about clown's endless amount of bugs with his bottles, Wraith and Spirit's lunge bug, (know this one isn't a bug but Huntresses BS hitboxes are stupid at times), Ghostface's detection and being able to stalk through walls, low ranks being paired with high ranks despite not being in a SWF and so on.

Next is that I feel like the devs are running out of ideas for new killers. These past few killers have been hybrids of previous killers. Ghostface is a hybrid of Pig and Myers, Oni is a hybrid of Billy and Myers, Reworked Freddy is sort of a hybrid of Hag and Clown with his new snares. What happened to every killer having a UNIQUE power?

Balance issues... I'm not even gonna get into that one as there's so much stuff that needs balancing.

At the end of the day I personally think the devs need to temporarily slow down on content (and cosmetics) and focus on fixing bugs because every time there is a new chapter it introduces more bugs on top of the current bugs we already have. I honestly think it's about time we have a new game mode too as the current game mode has been around for almost 4 years now and it's starting to get very stale. This is of course my opinion and it's just how I feel but I feel like DBD has a lot of room for improvement.

Her lunge got heavily shadownerfed with dedicated servers. Its near enough non-existent by now. Just a quick example:

    https://i.gyazo.com/6a78ff35e56130dc0bd93c2763508ab7.gif

Yeah I know the lunge is ######### rn but I don't believe that is intended. if it was intended tho then the devs have pretty much nerfed her extra hard now

  • Every killer power will need some drawbacks otherwise that would be extremely unfun for the survivors to go against. no killer should have no drawbacks. Can you imagine if you could get evil within 3 as Myers for stalking a survivor for one second. Lets go over some killer powers advantages and disadvantages.

    Trapper:

Pros: Traps can cut off loops and can incapacitate survivors for a lengthy period

Cons: Having to manually set them up, can easily be disarmed by survivors:

    Myers:

Pros: Can be stealthy and then suddenly turn into a one shot killing machine

Cons: Have to build up evil within and can also run out of stalking energy on survivors who have been stalked too much

    Huntress:

Pros: Doesn't have to be on the survivors butt to hit them, can hit them across maps, can make vaults extremely dangerous

Cons: Can run out of hatches which she will need to refill.

    Freddy:

Pros Can slow survivors down and teleport to gens.

Cons: If survivors are awake he's essentially a killer with no power.

A killers power if used correctly can dominate the team however every killer will need practice. You cant just expect to play killer and win as Billy just cause you can chainsaw super fast across the maps :)

It's nowhere near as short as what it used to be. Tell me would you rather have a cooldown to her power or a short lunge (that tier 1 myers has) instead? She doesn't even need a long lunge

  • Honestly the change that they SHOULD have done (aside from the add-on changes of course) was to decrease her lunge range.

Back when the nurse was first released she had a really short lunge like Tier 1 Myers. I think they should have changed the lunge back to what it used to be rather than the base kit change we received. Her lunge rn makes it so she can recover if she's a bit too far from the survivors and still hit them which is a bit BS when you have a killer who requires precision. That's like if Huntress could suddenly turn her hatchets into a boomerang if she missed so they can hit the survivor on the way back.

To be fair, it was originally designed so that people would be able to complete all or at least much more of the Rift just by doing challenges. This was taking into account Rift Fragments earned from master challenges, as well as estimated time to complete each challenge relative to the challenge's difficulty.

Because players complained that the challenges in Level III were too hard, many of the challenges in Levels III and IV were made easier, and half of the Level IV challenges were converted from master challenges to regular challenges. The effect of this is that while the challenges themselves are easier to complete, the progress earned from completing them is reduced overall. The devs warned us that this would be the case when they originally agreed to reduce the difficulty.

TL;DR - Although the Rift is by no means perfectly designed and the grind definitely could be reduced, the fact that it is as grindy as it is is largely the fault of player complaints rather than a flaw in the design.

Players sort of had to complain as some of those challenges were ridiculous and if they did want to keep them then they should have saved them for level 4 not level 3.

The Rift is fine if you can sink dozens of hours into dbd but for people who have jobs and what not it's kind of unfair towards those players.

  • Why is it whenever a streamer uses a killer and goes "ooo this killer might be top tier" (even if the killer is regarded as low tier) then that killer automatically becomes OP? It happened with Ghostface (I know he wasn't bottom tier but he's shot up in popularity recently) and now it's happened with Wraith. I bet you if a streamer said "Burger King Myers is top tier" people would probably agree and say he's OP.

Just because a streamer said a low tier killer is good if used properly does not make that killer OP or unbalanced at all.

  • I watched old footage of DBD and IMO it looked a lot better when the lighting was darker. Now it looks like there are floodlamps attached to the sky with how bright it is. You can see the killer coming a mile away now too with how bright it is.

  • Equip small game to find and disarm traps easier. Even if you don't go up against a trapper while having small game equipped it's still good on finding totems :)

TydeTime has some videos showing that OmegaBlink is better than it was before, since you can use 1 Range AddOn to get to nearly pre-change distance, and take a recharge AddOn to make the charge system less annoying. Anyone who knows TydeTime knows he’s an average Nurse player (definitely no Ardetha), and he did quite well.

    https://youtu.be/pwxPGsKuhkk him playing seriously

https://youtu.be/3X6C-LH2FV4 him memeing, but still a good match

I very much agree with Tyde, because I was never good with Nurse (still not), but always tried to play her. I do decently well with her changes, and I’ve played torn bookmark builds, omega builds, scream builds (add on that causes survivors to scream if blinked past.) My favorite is the scream with recharge reduction, which means if I blink past an immerses survivor, I find em’. I feel people miss the old “I can travel across giant maps in 4 blinks back to back” and since they lack that OP pressure, they feel she’s garbage. You might not be able to Blink between the furthest gens without cool down, but you still have a massive amount of pressure that if used right, can mess up the Survivors rhythm.

No offence but take whatever Tyde says with a grain of salt. He put Leatherface at B tier just cause he has an insta down. I've yet to try nurse after her rework so I don't know much about her tbf.

The tomes and rift are both permanent. It's like calling the End Game Collapse an event. They did give the game a halloween feel but it was hardly an event.

We had no summer event, no halloween event, no christmas event, no summer theme and no christmas theme. We got a pumpkin on a gen.

I bet if you went into BHVR's office they wouldn't even have a plastic Christmas tree in their lobby.

Instead of a Christmas tree they have a spin the wheel board with all the killers faces on them so they can decide who to nerf when they get back from their holidays 😏

  • @Peanits said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/932360#Comment_932360

We did warn about this, for what it's worth.

When we originally planned the Tome and Rift, we had designed it in such a way that you would earn enough fragments from Player XP to finish The Rift by the time you complete all the challenges. Since the challenges can now be completed in fewer matches, you may need to play additional matches after completing the Tome in order to reach Tier 70 in The Rift.

    For context: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/108232/

While that may be fine for people who can sink dozens of hours into this game this leaves people who have long jobs in the week in a sticky situation. I get it you had to compromise the tome 3 challenges cause they were ridiculous but it kinda sucks that I have to play dozens of matches now after I get home from work which normally isn't until 8 o'clock at night. Are you gonna keep it like this for the next tome or are you planning on lowering the grind slightly?

  • @Peanits said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/932340#Comment_932340

That appears to be the timer from the Steam overlay, which would show the entire time you had the game open, not just time in a match.

It's still a bit stupid how he's completed all the challenges and he's only halfway through the rift. Some of those challenges are really tedious and they should give you more rift progression rewards tbh. Not saying that when you complete all challenges you should be at tier 80 but at least a bit closer to tier 80.

  • My dream date would be Clown wearing a bikini on the beach.

You guys just can't handle the THICCNESS like I can 😏

  • @Peanits said:

The tell I feel is pretty obvious. Once you see someone go down from healthy once, you know she's using it. Ideally you don't want to get hit by a hatchet even if she's not using it, so it's not really a "too little too late" situation.

Anyway, I'd be totally okay with that personally. The most interesting idea I've heard was to make long range hatchets (>24m or 32m) instantly down people. That way it stays powerful, but requires a lot more skill to use and has way more counterplay. What do y'all have in mind?

Just make it so it does not work with the extra hatchets addons. I think everyone can agree that's what makes Iridescent heads annoying and a bit over the top. Make it so it is LOCKED to one hatchet regardless on what addons you are running and everyone should be cool with that.

Iridescent heads should be a high risk high reward addon and allowing a huntress to make mistakes but quickly make up for it while using those two addons together just seems a bit too strong.

There is a chance they’ll get unlimited speed boost. This is 100% a glitch. The only way it stopped for me was when adrenaline activated and I returned to normal speed again.
