Your first mistake was you went easy on the other 3 when Adam Dc'ed. It is not your fault he quit. If anything when that happens I tell the remaining group to submit a complaint to the person who quit because they were the cause of everything.
As for red/purple ranks. Ranks never really meant anything in this game. I have noticed since they gutted ruin, ranks REALLY mean nothing these days. Maybe it's just the survivors I've been running into but every since that patch I'm seeing reds who drop pallets prematurely. Purples who sit at a pallet instead of looping. To me it seems like those players were kept in green ranks when old ruin was around. Now that it's gone they can pip without learning to hit great skill checks. They could have been carried by SWFs or maybe the amount of good killer players have dropped. All I'm saying is ever since that patch, the amount of newbie reds has gone up.

Yeah but if you want to do anything with Blood Warden the gates have to be open, so doing a switcheroo is counter intuitive.
And even though it's situational, you can completely screw over someone's escape. Had a 1k snowball into 3k with Pig. Had no idea where the 4th was, but 2 and 3 were trying to make an exit and tried hiding in some lockers when they realized what happened. Got some savory hatemail that day.
It is hilarious when you get BW to go off. I had a bad game as trapper on Oni's map. I got a few hooks but no deaths. They open the gates and I chase 2 out. I managed to down and hook 1 at like 40% time left. I allowed them to save him and I followed them without attacking. I guess they thought I was tunneling and waiting for BT to wear off. Then they got to the gate and realized they couldn't get out. Even in the end game chat they were like "That was awesome!" They weren't salty or anything. Why can't I get more survivors like that?
-
I usually run IS and bring a medkit. That way I have at least 2 ways to heal myself if I can't find a fellow survivor.

Yea they need to make dc penalties an hour on first offense.
I dont know about first offense. I've dc'ed by accident because of Comcrap and only had like 5 mins to wait. I'm prefectly fine with that. It certainly needs to accumulate after that.
-
What scares me is the amount of survivor mains who think this should be enforced by the devs.
-
Like many have said, go after the unhooker. I don't have issues with BT anymore. I did back when it applied to both. The only time BT becomes a problem is when the person whose making the save has DS up. At that point it's a lose/lose no matter who you pick.
You can tunnel the person off the hook but they got BT and perhaps DS.
The unhooker has DS and perhaps unbreakable. Either you slug them and they get up or you take the DS. Either situation is a waste of your time. Some will say having them waste their DS or unbreakable is still a postive but they are still denying you a hook.
-
I suggest you keep playing PH. Hopefully those dcing asshats will be banned. Unlikely :P
-
Id mess around with a pure hex build.
TOTH, Ruin, Lullaby, 3rd seal, DH :P
I'm not including undying because all totems are taken
-
TL:DR
People have been saying this game has been dying for years and they've all been wrong.

I don't think they were extremely survivor biased in the past. I think they just made lots of mistakes LoL. Also, somethings are easier to fix/tweak than others.
These devs have screwed up something fierce at times. My favorite examples being patch 1.9.2 and old MoM. Those moments made me question "WTH were you thinking?"

Playing 1 shot killers (if they heal), huntress/clown with exhaust add-ons, and blood echo are probably the biggest ones; to prevent it ever from being used in the first place.
Other than that you don't really, it's just a move survivors have.
When your running DH nothing sucks more than the killer being Hillbilly or bubba. Killers that don't have to M1 to down you.
-
I loved the RE2 remake but the RE3 remake was a let down for me. They really screwed up nemesis in that game. Every encounter with him was scripted. They weren't even scary. It was more like watching a bad movie where the villain has all sorts of bad ass weapons and yet he can't seem to do anything with them. One of those movies you watch and ask "How do you miss?"

I personally don't because im fine with hook trades but others may want to play optimally and get that first survivor out as quick as possible
If someone unhooks in front of me I assume they have BT and DS. So I go for the unhooker. Hopefully I can down them before the person they saved gets healed and does gens. That's why I like MYC. It's not technically tunneling :P
-
I just use the cage incase i suspect ds. If someone is tormented and i know they haven't been hooked recently, i carry them to the hook. If i think they have ds then i use the cage.
-
If you think BHVR is vague with their rules you should see Warhammer 40k. Every time they introduce a new codex they need a writer to translate what the first writer wrote.
-

To begin saying you are a killer main doesn't make me believe it. Secondly while I do agree freddy shouldn't be able to completely ignore BT, stealth killers are already pretty crap, and if a stealth killer is camping just do the gens and escape leaving that wraith with a 1k and a depip.
For the killer main part. Can't really do anything to prove it. All I can say is if you've seen some of my previous posts it's pretty obvious who I support 80% of the time.

They didn't "forget" about DS. They just won't touch it because even the devs know that will piss off most of their customers.

Same can be said for all current consoles, and prolly the lower end PC's as well. At some point they will not be able to handle it.
I'm kinda given flash backs of Final Fantasy 11. It was an MMO like World of Warcraft and it was available for PC, playstation and xbox. As the years went on they could make the graphics better but the consoles were literally holding it back. I would not be surprised if that happens with DBD.

basically every skill check. Baby survivors probably cried because skill checks are hard, I guess? despite being a super slow perk, also a hex, and considering that cleansing totems doesn't have skill checks; it's totally a nerf for an already trash perk.
Skill checks are hard? Kinda like the crying for the ruin rework.
-
I'm not sure how I feel about them.
Hate them because it's one more thing I have to waste time breaking. By the time the animation is done they are already at the next jungle gym.
Like them because some areas are better off not breaking the walls. Like the school on bedham or the dead end room on the 2nd floor of dead dawg saloon.

Would it be OP if for Bloodwarden, when all the gens were completed if you hooked a survivor it immediately opened the exit gates but applied the bloodwarden effect?
I feel like that’s the fairest solution but also the closest to how bloodwarden used to be. Because lets be real those gates are likely 99% anyway or they arent hard to 99%
or what if that only happens if the gates have more than 50% progress?
I really miss old bloodwarden it was so fun. :(
I forget. How was old BW from the one we got now? The only thing I remember was when it first came out, survivors who died before the match ended could see your load out. That made it impossible to use against swfs because if 1 died they told everyone else what you had.
-
@Zani22 said:

I mean you had your chance you denied it... Its on you
Also you can just 99 the exit gates like everyone else.
If anything BW needs a buff because most survivors 99% the gates. Or at least make it so the gates regress if you don't open them.
-
I tunnel when it is in my best interests.
If I see 2 survivors and 1 is healthy while the other is injured. I'm going after the injured one. Less time spent chasing.
If someone is pulled off the hook right in front of me, I assume they have BT or DS or both. So I go after who made the save. Also that injured person is probably going to spend time healing. If everyone is healthy while one person is hooked, there is hardly any pressure. Gens will fly by if I don't at least injure someone else.
If I hooks someone and leave. If am I already chasing someone else when the save is made I won't give up my current chase. If I were to break off and head back to the hook, they may be gone by the time I get there. I gave up one chase in the hopes of getting another.
Now if I am away from the hook and I haven't found anyone by the time the save is made, I might go back to the hook. If I fail to locate the rescuer but I see a blood trail, then I'm going after the same person again. Not because I want them gone right away but because there is no one else and ignoring this chance to hook someone again is counter productive.
If I see 2 survivors and I know for a fact 1 is on death hook and they don't have DS anymore. I will go after them because it will remove them from the game and increase my odds of completing my objective.
Say the gates are open and I got no kills but 1 person on the hook. Yeah I will ignore everyone else body blocking and go for them because there is no other way for me to secure a kill at this point.
What I'm trying to say is everything I do as killer is with purpose. If I face camp, tunnel, mori it's not to be a dick. It's because I am doing whatever I can to fulfill my objective. If I bring an ebony it's either for a daily or I saw a key :P
-
Tunneled for me tends to be Wraith. I face a few that hook me, cloak and just wait for someone to make the save.
Now if there was a chart for face camping, for me it's Bubba. 100%.
-
I had a match as Demo with 2 survivors left. I downed the 3rd survivor and didn't feel like slugging so I just hooked her. BBQ revealed the 4th running and stopping at a spot. So I run there and big surprise Nea is standing on the hatch but it hasn't opened yet. I get on top of her and I close it before she can jump in. She was pissed lol.
I don't miss the hatch stand offs. Besides bringing a key I see the hatch as first come, first serve.
-
I hate Death Slinger and Bubba.
I suck at dodging the harpoon ><
majority of bubba's I run into are face campers or they never ever M1. Just get on your ass and chainsaw.
Not so much the Pig but I can't stand her reverse bear traps. I always have the worst luck when it comes to RNG. It's always the last 2 boxes I search that have my key.
-
Fix the Nurses bugs and remove that CD. Her base kit was perfect before. Only her add ons needed changing. Old Nurse was such an adrenaline rush. New nurse is just hold W.
Make BT work on killer's proximity to the hook instead of TR. So certain stealth killers can't bypass it.
-
The issue is when someone gets hit they tend to take off and get outside it's area of affect. The moment people find out your running it they won't stick around a pallet when they get hit. Yet another perk that is useless when the survivors know what they are doing.
-
I kinda want Furtive Chase to be reversed. Smaller TR when NOT in a chase.
Id also like Huntress Lullaby to remove the notification and require 3 stacks to remove audio que. 4-5 just increase the frequency of skill checks. As it is, it's just too much work for too little pay off. Devour Hope can pay off at 3 stacks and they don't know it's on the field until then.

All comes down to gen speed. The gen rush meta is new, and new killers have issues.
Gen rush has always been meta. Back then ruin actually slowed them down. Now ruin only stops gens that arent being worked on.

@Crythor said:
The most frustrating perks are the "second chance" perks as killer.
DS, Unbreakable, DH and Soul Guard (if used by a 4 man SWF)
You could argue against OOO in a swf group because only 1 person has to take it to generate massive value for the team. But as a solo que perk its fine. So maybe make it only usable if you que solo.
Then ofc Keys and "insta heal" addons.
On the killer side:
Moris (except yellow)
NOED (while you can choose to never let it activate, if it does it hands you free kills. Even worse that just by existing forces you to do dull totems if you want to be save as you have no way of knowing if its in play or not).
I don't really have a problem with DH. Since they servers got here people have rarely been able to bait a swing from me. Most now use it to get that extra distance to reach a pallet and that's no different than SB or Lithe.
NOED does give free kills however the survivors can do something about that. They just don't want too. If the killer is Wraith, Clown, pretty much anyone without a 1 shot I assume they're running noed.
-
MM doesn't really exist. It tries to find someone your rank but after enough time has passed it will toss you the first people available. Fairness be damned. Plus red ranks are saturated with survivors that don't belong there ever since they nerfed ruin long ago. So killers are more likely to be paired against reds regardless of rank.
-
DC's are not "becoming" problematic. They've "been" problematic" for awhile.
-
As for killer's have a wider variety of perks to choose from. I think that stems from the fact each killer is different. Therefore perks that are bad on one killer might be great on another. BBQ is good all around but it's better on Billy, Oni, Spirit. Corrupt might not be very good for them but it's great for trapper and hag. Survivors are literally all the same. They all do the same thing just as well as everyone else. So their perks are narrow by comparison.
I agree it's boring to run the same 3-4 perks every game. Every time I try a meme build it feels like I get a face camping killer and I'm like "I should have brought DS". Course that also happens when I play killer too.

Thanks devs, for real this time! Having lose/lose scenarios in a PvP game is kinda dumb so I'm glad the devs are taking steps to remove this stuff.
If only they adjust DS+UB. Wither I slug or eat the DS it's still a lose/lose for me.
As for PHs change. I hope it works out. I don't want it to turn into a power that has hardly any use. Like Pig's Dash.
-
I play both sides about equally but I lean towards buffing killer because I feel they are the ones getting shafted the most.
DS needs to be reworked again. 60 is too long and even if the killer doesn't tunnel they can still be punished by it if the survivor decides to go towards the killer. Mixed with unbreakable there are situations where regardless of the choice made by killer, slug or eat the ds, it wastes your time.
PGTW is fine. The 45 secs is still plenty of time. Though I felt it didn't need to be touched but it's not a big deal.
OoO needs to have more downsides. Used by a swf with headsets they pretty much know where the killer is at all times. There's hardly any negative to being the obsession unless the killer is using Rancor.
The early game mechanic the devs are talking about I hope will help a lot of the M1 killers.
Both sides have plenty of "useless perks" that could use a rework.
Majority of killer add ons suck. There are a handful that can be too powerful, like iridescent head, but most add ons don't really do anything.
Maps need to be smaller or redesigned.
Fix the Nurse.
Id appreciate it if BT worked on killer's proximity to the hook instead of TR. Certain killers can bypass this and get an easy rehook. Example, a face camping wraith that cloaks and waits for the rescue.
Solo survivor sucks. I don't know how they could improve that without inadvertently buffing SWF.

Most killer players won’t be satisfied until they have total control over other survivors...until survivors are literally made to be helpless Damsels in distress against the killer.
Funny. Killers say the exact same thing about survivors :P
-
Sounds like the survivor community is starting to understand what killer went through when the devs reworked ruin.
I think your fears are unwarranted. Even these devs know if they nerf DS people will review bomb the game. They've always leaned towards the majority of their customers. Despite the numerous killer updates over the games creation. They only introduced those to try to keep the killer population from playing something else so the survivors have a match.

DS has been a problem that people have complained about for a very long time, and then they change pop. Killer options for gen defense are already limited between Ruin/Undying and Corrupt/Pop, nerfing gen defense instead of addressing why all killers run it is dumb.
Even if they didn't change DS, they could have buffed the weaker gen defense perks too. Options are getting even more limited, and the pop nerf only affects the low tier killers.
"nerfing gen defense instead of addressing why all killers run it is dumb" Kind of reminds me when they nerfed ruin.
"It's in 90% of all games so we feel it's too good"
"Well why do you think it's in 90% of all games? Cause we need some form of slow down to stand a chance"
Then the very next patch they nerfed tool boxes into oblivion. That tells me they aren't man enough to admit they screwed up. I still think they will do absolutely nothing to DS.

Furtive I've found useful for the Obsession musical chairs challenges but nothing much else. Could affect nearby Borrowed Time unhooks or survivors wanting tokens for their Stakeout so they can get that sweet sweet extra 1% on gen repairs?
More survivor perks need to be affected by Terror Radius now that I think about it. What else is there? Pebble? Because that's popular.
Edit: But the main effect is the eerily silent chases. It works on Ghostface since you don't exactly know when he used his power or not.
I think there needs to be an actual penalty for being the obsession. Unless the killer is running rancor, they are liable to leave you alone. If they have STBFL they won't want to hit you. If they're using pwyf they will probably leave you alone once a chase begins.
-
I would like them to upgrade it like some of the recent perk changes. It sounds good on paper but very poor in practice. You need to hit the obsession to activate it. The problem with that is you have to give up a current chase in the hopes that you might get the drop on someone else. If they could rework it so when we "hook" the obsession or something along those lines, it would improve.
Another perk that needs a full rework is furtive chase. What is the point of a smaller TR "during" a chase? They already know your there.

Have YOU looked at the patch history? Want me to go through just some of the survivor nerfs? DS nerf, map size nerf, infinite’s removal, double pallets removal, pallet vaccuum removal, loops nerf, maps like Hawkins and dead dawg sallooon introduced, not one weak killer released legion, spirit, nurse still capable of decimating teams, MoM nerf, exhaustion introduction, exhaustion nerf again, balanced landing nerf, double windows jungle gym removal, you see where this is going right?
The devs make changes for balance reasons, not because they favour one side over the over. Just because one side gets a nerf, doesn’t mean that the devs don’t care about them. There are arguable many things on both sides which need changing, and using the argument that survivors are stronger than killers thus killers don’t need nerfs is just bs.
You misunderstand what I typed. I said "Every rework is to make the game balanced?" I am not implying the devs have not made some great changes in the past. I remember the days of BNP, insta medkits, uber flashlights, infinites, pallet vacuum, no EGC, BT working on the hooked and unhooked. The game has gotten better over the years. However they have also made some really really awful decisions. Crap that makes me ask "Who thought that was a good idea?" I was trying to say not everything the devs do is for the betterment of the game.
An example would be MoM. It's great they fixed it, although it's useless now but the perk shouldn't have been put in the game to begin with. Anyone who puts a decent amount of playtime into both sides could have told them that perk would break the game.

If survivors are getting nerfed consistently and they are still the power role. That tells me they need MORE nerfs.

This "nerf" only will hurt bad players who relied on nothing but entirely brainless zoning. God forbid a killer be more fun for both sides.
The nerf may or may not be that bad. It is irrelevant to what I posted. If you nerf a killer to where he can be bullied at top tier, survivors won't get a killer they can bully. Those killer players will choose someone else.

The PTB isn't live yet and they've explicitly stated they do not intend to nerf PH. Survivors were of course complaining louder about him because he's currently a lot more fun to play as than to play against. That says absolutely nothing about the upcoming changes.
Why is every change and rework met with "BHVR only listens to [killers/survivors]"? They have every incentive to make sure their game is both fun and balanced. Catering only to one side does not accomplish that goal.
Every rework is to make the game balanced? Were you around for patch 1.9.2? The introduction of MoM? The nurse add on rework that also turned into a base kit nerf? The billy rework virtually no one asked for? All you have to do is look at the patch history and see these devs haven't a clue what they are doing.

"Alright! We got PH nerfed. Now he'll be easy to bully............why am I only seeing spirits?"
-
Considering it's a perk that can be brought by 4 people it shouldn't be 100% as strong as the killer version. If they buffed WGLF to be any aura reading like OoO that would break the game.
