I like most of the changes. I would like them to go further in detail about the changes to wglf. I use that perk all the time to farm BP. Only I mix it with BT to help guarantee a safe save. They said more ways to gain stacks but I didn't see what those ways were. The bonus to healing a dying member is also nice.
I love the changes to PH's perks. When they released his perks on the PTB I thought "Their going to adjust them right?" and they never did. Such long CDs and brief durations wasn't very practical. I'm loving the change to trail of torment. Whichever one that gives you stealth when you kick a gen. I thought that was a cool idea for a perk but the yellow gen was a dumb idea. Now that it lasts until someone fixes it or somebody gets hit, I think that's a decent perk.

That's not nearly as bad as when I reinstalled ARK -.-
I had to be an external HDD to fit that.

yea killer is definetly more rough but it is satisfying to shut down toxic players
The best shut down is when they teabag at the exit gate and then realize I was running Blood Warden /kefka laugh

Id call it a bit of camping but then again there's nothing wrong with camping. The devs have even stated it.
The person you were chasing didn't do a good job of leading you away from the hook. They should have tried to run you to someplace that doesn't offer line of sight to the hook. It was pretty obvious they wanted your attention but your not required to take the bait. You didn't know for a fact someone else was near the hook. You choose to give up a chase to check the hook and it paid off. If there turned out to be no one else near the hook that would have cost you a chase.

when all killers quit survivor wont be able use they ds because they wont be able to play.
Survivor's don't think that far ahead. I'm surprised BHVR hasn't replaced killer players with bots like in the mobile version.

The wheel that squeaks the most gets the oil.

DS because it's easier to reproduce than the hook bug.
Also there's more survivors complaining about DS than killer complaining about hooks.

and this is also why that new healing perk from Felix is such garbage, the ability to potentially stack it with Botany Knowledge....so sometimes they do think about it enough...to make a perk pretty much pointless....
It's also why most new perks created are garbage. They can't really add anything strong because it can be mixed with what is already here.
-
I began as killer. I didn't start playing survivor until some friends asked me. I'd say its 70/30, leaning towards killer. As a result I have an understanding of how bad solo que is and how broken SWF can be.
-
DBD's community is so toxic that other games even say it's toxic. I still play overwatch once in awhile. When someone is complaining about something I just say "As whiny as the dbd community" and like 3-4 people all say "dbd is pretty bad"
-
The Toxic half of the community.
-
What do you mean legion is useless "now"? I thought he was useless since his release?
-
Yet demos shred, pigs dash and hatchets don't work with stbfl or pwyf. You would think BHVR would make things a bit more clear.
-
I think both sides agreed the Nurse needed an add ons rework. Although only one side wanted the change to her base kit.

Because he has tunnel vision. He only sees, what freddy does better than other killers and thinks, nerfing is the right thing instead of making the other killers an actual threat where you have to play smart to achieve a win
That doesn't sound like a problem with Freddy. It sounds like a problem with the person playing him and tunneling+camping is an issue that's plagued this game since it's release. I remember when Freddy had to put you to sleep and wait 7 secs before he could harm you. The new Freddy is a much needed upgrade. His snares help with chases. His dream pallets are a breath of fresh air from the ordinary. When I'm looping most other killers if I get to a pallet I'm thinking "I'm safe". Against a Freddy I have to actually remember which pallets I used when looping him. Last his teleport gives this M1 killer some desperately needed map pressure. I don't feel nerfing him is the solution nor do I think he is the problem. The issue is there is too much incentive for killers to tunnel someone to death. Against SWFs and coordinated real red survivors, the killer needs to do everything possible to take someone out asap. Freddy is not the cause, the problem is game balance. It's far better to treat the disease than the symptoms.
Also if you nerf Freddy that just means more people playing spirit. When 1 viable killer is nerfed to crap tier those players don't continue to play that killer. They jump to another meta killer. We've seen this happen time and again.
-
Whoever is next. I want them to be viable.
-
Dude. Freddy was the worst killer in the game when he got here. He stayed that was for almost 2 years. Now he is viable at end game. Why do you want to mess with that?

A very large majority of the time camping goes unpunished for some reason. If the survivors realize the killer is camping they can just start slamming out gens and the killer will get at most 1 or 2 kills and around 5-10k blood points. Instead they start throwing themselves at the hook and end up giving the killer either a 4k or a ton of blood points and emblem points.
In fact, the current rank system does punish camping as long as no other survivors are within 16 meters of the hook and do their objectives:
- If gens get done fast they get a bad gatekeeper.
- If they only hooked one person one time and they died the killer gets bronze devout. Silver for 2 people.
- They won't get many malicious points because they aren't hitting survivors much.
- They lose chaser points every second for standing near a hook while no other survivors are nearby.
I will agree that it isn't fun for anybody but killers will keep doing it as long as survivors aren't punishing it. If they do it and see good results (pip up, 2+ kills, decent blood points) because survivors are throwing themselves at the hook, why would they stop?
That's pretty much how I feel about camping. It sucks when it happens to you but it only works if the survivors fall for it. I think BHVR should go as far as to put an example of face camping in the tutorial. Even slap it on the tips in the loading screen.
"If the killer is giving you no opportunities to save someone, consider repairing generators to make use of this time"
-
I think the problem is 2 fold.
Survivors that don't know to do gens and get out is one half. I've solo qued with kindred equipped for this very reason. I've stayed on a hook the entire time with the killer right in front of me and still those randoms didn't do gens. If survivors learned to punish face camping sooner than newbie killers might get the message before they hit red ranks.
The other half is most killers that face camp don't realize it's a bad strategy most of the time. Face camping only works if the survivors allow it. Rank means nothing in this game. If a r20 killer face camps the first person he hooks. Everyone else rushes the hook to save them. This results in more hooks and the killer gets a 4k. The killer thinks "This seems to be working so i'll keep doing it". They continue playing like that and they rank up. Eventually they face a red rank swf that is actually red rank and get crushed. Then there's the killers that tunnel someone to death. Again, while your harassing that one person everyone else is probably doing gens uninterrupted. This game puts extreme importance on how fast you can down someone and chase someone else. Taking someone out as soon as possible is the killer's objective but when you deliberately turn down opportunities to injure other survivors is counter productive.
-
I don't have enough for a list but I think the worst thing to happen to DBD was patch 1.9.2
-
As much as I hate swf, if there was an option to avoid them practically every killer would do it.
-
Mikey has been in dbd for awhile now. A lot of killers could use some sort of upgrade. He lacks the ability to provide good map pressure outside of T3 and most people just hide when they hear that music. He has more stealth options and good snowball potential but Oni is a newer killer. It's like comparing a 3 year old PC to a brand new one. It's not a fair contest.

But that is Sooo... Impossible to determine; so many factors go into the outcome of a match; how would any AI know when Someone is doing Well? Or poorly?
I didn't say it was a good idea :P
I don't think there would be a way to implement that. Maybe a simpler solution would be to adjust gen speeds depending on the particular killer being used. Killer's with low mobility/map pressure get some extra seconds to fix a gen? As for hook suicides, I feel those should be punished because without a penalty the amount of hook suicides goes up.
-
If a swf of red ranks are waiting long enough and MM can't find someone their rank it just throws the first killer available to them.
-
@Dreamnomad said:
Nothing can or should be done to punish suicide on hook. But I do think there should be a mechanic to reward survivors for sticking around. You know.. a carrot instead of a stick.
Personally I don't know what they could do but I feel suiciding should be punished. I had an idea about gen speeds months ago. What if we had some sort of AI Director like in L4d. Something that watches the flow of the match and adjusts things depending on whats happening.
If survivors die early, survivors repair gens faster, are more likely to kobe, higher luck when searching chests
If the killer is getting crushed gens repair slower, survivors take longer to heal.
Little things like that. I still feel the core problem is quitters.

Lmao, I have no problem with opposing opinions as long as they aren't so dumb I can tell the person with said opinion is ignorant and has no idea what their talking about. If you think the game is anything other than SWF>KILLER>SOLO then you are either a troll or a fool, either way I wasted enough time on you, cheers.
This entire thread is starting to look like bait. Your pretty much rejecting anyone who doesn't agree with you. Also, ending your sentence with cheers doesn't make your arguement more compelling.

For anyone who has that logic of “oh no I’ll get a pc hacker if I do this” they are stupid think of it like this hackers on pc alone make up the less then 1% it’s already so rare. Now add in crossplay you have like 5 different systems pairing together making that number even less meaning you have almost no chance to run into a hacker on pc.
I've had this game for maybe 3 years and I've only run into a hacker like twice. Once was a survivor with permanent sprint burst, a survivor that could DH as much as he wanted with no cd and a nurse that knew where everyone was despite having zero tracking perks. There were several occasions where I "thought" they were hacking but no proof.
-
Again, the problem isn't the perk. It works fine the way it is. SWF is OP as sin but I don't feel solo needs a buff. Solo can always git gud. SWF more likely needs a nerf or killer needs some sort of buff when facing a swf.

chatper can be just a survivor i'm sure people would buy it I would and new map with it be new map and 3 new perks sure it wouldn't be that hard
with the new movie coming never say never.
They could do that but IMO chapters with just a survivor tend to sell less. The devs can't really add any good perks anymore for fear of making survivor even stronger. Since survivors only offer new perks you paying $10-20 bucks for a skin to wear and you have to lvl it up.

@Science_Guy said:
What you're describing is the exact reason why DS still exists. BT is already strong as is.
I remember when BT applied to both the unhooked and the unhooker. That was broken and I am glad they changed it to what it is now. Out of all the perks survivors have I feel BT is the most balanced.
OP, I think your issue is your team. They are the problem, not the game itself. They should either bring BT or make a safe save. If no safe save is possible then they should do gens. Honestly I think that should be one of the tips in the loading screen. "If the killer is giving you no chance to make a rescue, then don't."
-
Id rathe rhave the ghostface from Scary Movie :P
-
The problem was the costume and the scream movie+charcters were owned by 2 different entities. If they got the rights to Scream they couldn't use the costume without getting those rights. That would mean they would have to pay 2 corporations for permission to use it. So they got the rights to the costume and invented a character to wear it.

Again with the stereotyping. Jesus....
That's the kicker. It's not a stereotype if it's true. In my case, it is. Literally every purple/red killer I've faced who was not on PC tunneled people to death.
-
I wouldnt mind console players disabling cross play. It feels like every single console killer I run into tunnels people to death.
-
You can see which gens are blocked.
By using your own damn eyes.
-
How many people run blood favor though? Most survivors take off and go past 16 meters when they are hit.
-
They're already paying John Carpenter to follow the shape where ever he goes :P
-
Considering the spaghetti code, I wouldn't be surprised if someone on the dev team flunked math. According to Robin Williams, you can be a pot smoker and get into NASA :P

Or every single tractor on coldwind farm.
-
I know a worse spot. When it's out in the open like that and 3 feet from a gen. Any totem near a gen is as good as done because the survivors will be in that area. They will see it.
-
The word "rework" worries me with this game. Lately when they try to rework something it feels like it was a secret way of saying "nerf" But I agree id rather have more bug fixes instead of more chapters. Like someone already mentioned, they don't make more money with bug fixes.

yeah the way people are playing now is reminding me why i play friday when i want a chill, scary or fun experience
The one good thing I can say about cross play is that they can't talk to me in end game chat. When I want to just play and have fun there is zero way for them to send me hate messages.

Although this topic isn't about Evolve I will say one thing between the two games.
The vast majority of people who play DBD like to group up all get on comms and play. Comms technically breaks the balance but w/e. But almost everyone in swf uses mics.
And yet Evolve where using mics and voice coordination is recommended so many people were either too lazy and never bothered to use comms. I have no idea why.
The difference is in Evolve the 4 had to actually fight the 1. As a result that required the monster to actually be powerful. Going up against the monster alone was suicide and that was the point. You had to work together to overcome a greater adversary. DBD was not designed that way. It was built not on the intention of combat but by escaping. Although team work is required in dbd it is not as important as it was in Evolve. Even if you never see another survivor you can work together by doing gens or cleansing totems. Even if your side isn't working together you can still escape through the hatch. In Evolve you either stayed with the team at all times or you got eaten by a carnivorous plant. Also Evolve didn't have a lot of hunter mains whining for BS buffs because they believed 1 person should be able to go against the monster and win.
-
@[Deleted User] said:
Evolve failed because it was a bad game. But nonetheless for DBD there is no set win or lose condition, thats solely based on how the player sees it. It would be impossible to implement in a game like this.
I believe it failed because of the excessive monetization at launch. Evolve Stage 2 was a better game and should have been what was first launched but it still had issues with balance. Mainly if 1 hunter was downed it was a domino affect from there. It was a game where you never wanted to play with randoms. You either had a group or you played as the monster. My favorite complaint was instead of making all the various monsters viable. They took the easy route and made them all more like Goliath because he was balanced. Evolve was a well oiled machine with several moving parts and if one was jammed the whole thing seized up.

I think the opposite, the killer might want to face the high winning streak in order to break it. In case you right, dev can make effect only exist during match.
About the fairness, do you have any idea to adjust?
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1629735#Comment_1629735
Updated your suggestion on OP, but I think escape by hatch still deserve a win (in case you play solo with a very bad team).
I beg to differ. I think majority of people will see that wining streak and assume it won't be fun for them. Then they will dc or lobby dodge. Like I said, Evolve had this problem. I've seen it in other games and considering how toxic this community is, I wouldn't put it past them. We got people in this game that suicide on the first hook and defend their decision to screw over 3 other people because they don't like facing a particular killer.
In my opinion, my generation wanted a challenge when playing a game. Today's generation feels they can only have fun if they are winning.
-
If there was a feature to toggle off swf then literally every killer would turn it off.
-
Sounds like it would be too easy for survivor and too hard to killer. Also if people could see "this player is on a 30+ winning streak" they will likey assume they are really good and lobby dodge. Evolve had that problem.
